These saved my sanity and life when I was working from home and living in an apartment underneath The Loud Family. The stay-at-home mom was running a daycare up there, and I had to listen to toddlers running back and forth, screaming, and throwing things on the floor for almost 10 hours every weekday, starting at about 7 a.m. (not my preferred wake-up time). From the sound of it, the babysitter was keeping the children entertained by providing bowling balls for the kids to drop. Then mom's own son would come home from school at 4 p.m. and body-slam himself onto the floor repeatedly. Thank God the office took my complaint seriously and relocated me to a different unit.If you're in a similar situation, these will help (and please know that I feel your pain and hope you get a break like I did). They don't block every sound, but they muffle things sufficiently to where you should be able to sleep, get some work done, or simply read in peace. Prescription anti-anxiety or hypnotic medications are useful, too.

These are one of the best ear plugs I have found that really work! My husband bought a small package at the store by accident since I used another product. I started to use them and was pleasantly surprised how well they block the sounds out. I use them when I go to sleep because I am a light sleeper and my husband snores really LOUD (that's another issues. LOL). Or while I am working on school papers, I wear them to concentrate when my family is around or the TV is on. I am very pleased with this product and am glad my husband "accidently" bought them for me!To work the best for you, it's important that you put the plug into your ear canal. I give the earplug a good roll between my thumb and index finger. Right before I put the earplug in, I lift my ear from the top to open up the ear canal more. I keep rolling the earplug and then immediately put the earplug inside and make sure it's push in really well. Then I keep my index finger of the part of the earplug that is seen and keep it push in while the earplug expands in my ear. That way it doesn't work itself out some while expanding. This has worked the best for me as I have been doing this for years and have it down to a science!! HA ha. Good luck.

I am a very light sleeper, and have difficulty falling asleep if there are ambient noises. I first started using earplugs years ago when our dog developed a hacking cough at night. I've been wearing them ever since, and can't sleep well without them. I used to use something called Pretty in Pink because they were available at the grocery store, but IO found these Hearos plugs on Amazon, and they are great! If my wife has the TV on in the bedroom or the cats are tearing around and playing with toys, I can pop in a fresh pair of these and all I hear is the sound of my own breathing and/or heartbeat.You really need to change these out every couple of weeks, because they lose their ability to expand and completely seal. Once they start expanding before you can put them in your ear after rolling them between your fingers, it's time for a new pair.The 3-pack is awesome, because it lasts me over a year and provides fantastic ambient noise elimination/reduction. You will be hooked for life after going though a box of these.

When I moved into my apartment 3 years ago, I was dismayed to find paper-thin walls, along with noisy neighbors and vehicle traffic. Ear plugs were my only hope for a good night's rest, and so I went out and bought a number of types and styles to test out. Of those, Hearos Xtreme were the best.My main concern was blocking out as much noise as possible, while being comfortable enough to wear to bed all night, every night. Hearos Xtreme do both. It took a little while to get used to sleeping with them in, and to figure out how to insert them correctly to get a comfortable but tight fit, but three years later, I still wear them all night, every night and have no complaints.The sound protection is perfect; I can sleep through everything from road construction to my neighbor's TV without waking up, and I'm usually a very light sleeper. At the same time, I can put my phone under my pillow and still wake up to its alarm. Or, as another example, when falling asleep next to my girlfriend, I can hear her words just fine if she talks at a normal volume; the words are garbled and unintelligible if she speaks softly; and she can talk loudly on the phone in the other room without waking me up.As a tip, though the box says the earplugs are single-use only, I am often able to wear a single pair for 4 or 5 nights before throwing them away. Your ability to reuse them will depend on how waxy or sweaty your ears get, if you clean your ears before using them, shower right before using them, etc. -- but I found with common sense, I can use them until they stop springing back into shape quickly and/or start to look grimy or waxy. Really saves some money if you're like me and use them every night.

Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! These earplugs are without a doubt the best for sleeping (and anything else, for that matter). They have the highest NRR I have found, and due to that I thought they would be quite hard. They are in fact the softest earplugs I've used. They are also a bit shorter than most plugs of this style so they don't stick out too far and rub against your pillow, etc. After a minute I can't tell they're in.I've had a hard time falling asleep for the a while. Once I fall asleep I have no trouble staying that way, it's just the initial stage that is difficult for me. I live on a busy road, so trucks go by all night. Other noises in the house can also keep me up (power venter owners will know my pain here). These sounds aren't constant, but always seem to happen just when I'm on the brink and about to fall asleep. With these earplugs in I'm in my own personal silence chamber and the feeling is inexplicable. Nothing can bother me and once my head hits the pillow I'm basically out. I don't know how I've lived without these earplugs for all these years.Strangely, once I'm fully asleep I tend to pull the earplugs out. I don't have to worry about alarms, etc. and waking up accordingly. I am a deep sleeper once I am actually asleep so losing the earplugs in the middle of the night isn't a problem.

Seriosly, these ear plugs are the best I have used. I use them to sleep every night. My wife forgets that I put them in and my response to her is "What" Cannot hear much with them in.

I wear these at night, because I'm a very light sleeper. I like these because they allow me to sleep through the night and are re-usable for several nights. I removed one star because a few of them did not expand back to shape after a reasonable amount of time. However, there are so many in the package, I didn't mind enough to return them. They are very comfortable and the noise reduction works well for common sounds like a TV, Candy Crush, or people busy about the house and it blocks the sound of the neighbors dog yapping. It does not block very low decibels, like heavy base coming from a quality stereo but I've never found anything that can.. I will buy this brand again. The price makes it a good value.

I am a VERY light sleeper and my boyfriend breathes VERY heavily in his sleep, so I desperately had to order some earplugs... My life consisted to sleeping at the opposite side of the bed with a pillow jammed in my ears to prevent hearing it. I'm saved! These work wonders and I definitely do not hear any heavy breathing/light snoring through these guys. They fit comfortably as well. Only problem is that I can now hear my OWN breathing when my ears are plugged with them (annoying at first, but now I'm used to it) and I did wake up with a mega headache after using them the first night. Hopefully that is not an every day thing, because then I might be screwed.

These are the best ear plugs I've ever found in over 20 years of wearing them to sleep. For best effect they must be rolled tight to a longish tiny point and inserted all the way in to the farthest point right next to the ear drum and held there for about two minutes until the inner ear portion expands enough to keep them all the way in. This filling of the inner ear canal with foam is what blocks sound vibrations from getting through to the ear drum as much as possible. When you take them out you'll see a slight peanut shaped pinch in the middle where the canal narrows between the inner and outer chambers. Then you know you've done it right. Protect your ears and/or your sleep. Cheers.

I had to resort to earplugs when I moved into my new apartment and learned that my neighbor upstairs liked to fall asleep with the TV on all night.These earplugs are comfortable but needs a little bit of time to get used to. The first few nights, my ears would be sore, but after a week or so, you don't really notice them anymore. As far as blocking noises, it does pretty well. The usual rustling of fabric and noises a bed makes when you move around are almost zero'd out by these. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much about lower frequencies. You'll still hear rumbling of trucks or the obnoxious neighbor upstairs walking around. They could be reused a dozen times or so till they lose their effectiveness or get grimy, whichever comes first.Overall, good for reducing noises, bad for curing obnoxious people.

Love these things. Sleeping soundly for the first time in years. Took off one star for new EZ grip design which hangs further out of ear. The original Hearos are five stars. Pictures provided to show difference in products.

This is my first purchase of the extra strength heroes-- the blue ones. I have used the normal pink ones a bunch and thought I'd give these a try. They are slightly more sense and noticeably bigger, but still soft and very comfortable. They hold up better after multiple uses than the pink ones however if you have smaller ear canals may be harder to insert. I have smaller ear canals and it's a race to get them in before they have expanded too much. They are very effective at blocking sound.

I'm gonna vent & review simultaneously-Sorry. I share a 2 bdr apt. My roommate burps chronically/aggressively/nonstop, amongst other things. I purchased these to block her lack of control & or lack of manners out. Although I can still hear her belching throughout the entire apt (& like her life depends on it), her burping sounds less intense now when I'm using these. These do feel better than the many plugs I've bought in stores. However, I can't tell a huge difference from these & other brands I've used. 3 stars because I expected Extreme Protection Noise Cancelling ear plugs. *long sigh* Great price though!

A little better than most out there. Others can be washed and used more often with about the same results for much less.I don't notice any stellar comfort level. They have a light white powdery residue on them.Yuk! Plus assembled in Mexico with U.S. Components. NOT 100% American Made!! Edit update: I have been washing them in the washing machine (i just leave them in pants pocket) and put them through the dryer numerous times and air dried a few times with no noticeable difference, As good a new. Still using the first 2 pairs over 10 times each.

I have purchased the smaller packs of these same ones before and they were great but a bit pricey so when I saw these I thought it was a good deal but when I got them, they didn't seem the same as the ones I had bought in smaller packages. They are actually longer and the end is not shaped the same as the ones I had gotten in the smaller packages so they don't stay in your ears very well and if you sleep on your side they basically dig into your eardrum the entire night, I ended up just taking a pair of scissors and chopping off some of the end to make them shorter and they fit better now. After reading some other reviews it sounds like they changed the design of them overall so the smaller packs may be like these too. If that turns out to be true then I wouldn't buy these again...

I would like to start saying that this ear plug seems like a great quality, if only I can put them in properly. They are HUGE (fat kind of huge) for my small ear canals. I'm 25 y/o Asian woman (I'm 5'7 so not small) and I didn't think my ear canal is small, but apparently accordingly to this ear plug it is! My boyfriend showed me how to put it in, it went into his ear just fine, and I tried to put it in mine, and he helped as well, at the start it seems like it went in but after it expands 70% of it are outside of my ear. I got the ear plug because I hate noisy exam rooms and I tried to read/study with them but with no luck. Whatever fits into my ear does do a relatively good job blocking some noise, but since they are so big for me it's extremely uncomfortable, I can feel that they are stretching my ear canal ugh. So sadly not working for me.

I purchased these earplugs based on the large number of positive reviews. To my disappointment, they did not meet my needs. I was looking for a product that would allow me to sleep without interruption. I had recently become sensitive to nighttime sounds and needed to find a way to reduce these unwanted distractions.To my delight, most sounds were eliminated while I used this product . However, a few remained. Thus, I was occasionally awaken by sounds such as my husband turning on the TV or his running water at a sink in an adjacent bathroom.After wearing these earplugs for a couple of weeks, my ears started to become irritated. Unlike other purchasers who thought that the earplugs were too small, I had the opposite problem. It appeared that the earplugs were irritating my ears because they were too tight or perhaps causing too much friction. Fortunately, my period of sound sensitivity has lapsed and I do not need any earplugs.

Update on batch purchased on 9/1/2016IT seems these have a new formula and are quite a bit squishier than before, resulting in the sound blocking being fairly weak. They also wear out quickly now. I used to be able to wear them daily for several weeks before having to get a new pair, but these don't seem to make it past a few uses. I know they're supposed to be disposable, but this is a bit ridiculous. All of the reusable ones I've tried to not block sound nearly as well, but I may start looking into other options again as these are no longer a cut above the rest in sound blocking.---They were perfect for sleeping at Burning Man because my camp was by all the sound camps (5+ sound stages blaring dub step all night), and the similarly noisy art cars are always roaming around. They were so great that I missed my watch's alarm one morning. Haha, is that a good thing? I'll let you decide.Also, they were cheap for the quality! I ended up handing many of them out to people who were less prepared for the music throughout the day.

ok these ear plugs are really not the best. One of my best problem is they don't stay in place. I have to constantly reinsert, is more annoying than anything. It may be more suitable for people with bigger ear holes. For me, is kind of like trying to squeeze a pillow into a small hole. And due to the ear plugs couldn't stay in place, they didn't really help with the noises. I am probably better off rolling some tissues and stick them to my ears.

These are short,so I have to really shove them in, but then they slide out in an hour or two, and I can hear their snoring. After 3 months of sleepless nights, I've finally caved and bought my favorite (significantly more expensive but worth it) brand.

They changed the shape and made them bigger like a bullet and very difficult and painful to put in ear. Not happy at all with the change.

Yea, I like many other reviewers, purchased this product for years and it was great. But then, recently, they changed the product and now it stinks. They are too long and they don't last as long as they should. The old product could be inserted, removed (wiped clean), and re-inserted 3 or 4 times before they either became too gross to use or just couldn't hold a shape for insertion. These, you pretty much only get one use out of and that feels like a money grab on this company's part. Inferior to the old design... I am looking for an alternative now.

Miss the old ones that I love - these fall out of my ears no matter how I put them in. Just to big now for me.

The WERE the best you could find. They have been "re-engineered" to make them easier to remove by adding a domed section on the outside end. The previous design was flat. The new design does NOT work for low frequency sound (trucks, snoring, etc.). I am so disappointed with the re-design especially since it uses exactly the same packaging as the previous version. If the old style ever got stuck in your ear, it was a very simple matter of using a dull tweezers (or a helper) to remove them - very rare occurrence anyway. Bring back the old style!.

These are absolutely horrible and a waste of money! They don't block out sound. They barely reduce sound. I should have read the reviews before I purchased these. I did research and these were suppose to be great, but apparently they changed their design and are horrible now. They are huge and uncomfortable. They don't even stay in your ear. I wish I could return them. Very disappointed! :(

Honestly awful. Ineffective at blocking sound and barely fits in my ears (even when used as directed).I wish I could return these, but, unfortunately, the company does not offer refunds. Looks like I'm going to need to buy something from another company.

These are HUGE!!! I am an average height/weight 30 yr old woman, and I think these are way too big. They work as well as my other 32 DB protection ones. But I cant sleep on my side with these huge earplugs in. I do not like these at all. They are twice as big as you think they are by the look of them. These are not suitable for children at all.

I've used cheaper ones that worked better. I recommend finding those orange ones that most people have. These just don't do the job, they don't seem to fill up my ear and I've tried twisting pinching and holding. Nothing works.

I purchased these through Pharmapacks for an upcoming trip. They arrived faded and sticky. No good.

I have been buying these ear plugs for 4 yrs now. They have changed the design. I am very disappointed. These offer very little noise reduction. They used to be super dense which helped reduce the noise and would really conform to the ear. The last shipment i got i noticed they were not as good as the last and now these are even worse since the change in shape and material. I would not recommend or purchase again unless they go back to original design.
