It's a SCHLAGE :-)
September 11, 2017
I got this primarily as a means to not get locked out of the house from the garage. This is really nice! I like the quick turn to disable the lock for when I need to repeatedly go in and out. If forgotten, though, a quick punch of the code allows entry. I also enjoy the handle, instead of the old knob. So nice a lock! The lock installed in minutes (I didn't have to reverse the handle) and was programmed in seconds. Best of all it's a SCHLAGE, which always makes me feel more secure than cheaper alternatives. I have regretted buying other brands, but have never regretted buying a SCHLAGE .
Awesome product!
November 28, 2016
This is one of the best products we've ever purchased for the house. Its easy to use. We both have our own codes and created a "guest" code that we can change on a more frequent basis. I can leave the house for a hike and not have to take a key with me. Also we don't have to hide a key, which in my opinion is SO unsafe. We chose this over the newer fancy products that Schlange has like bluetooth and a touch screen pin pad because less things can go wrong with this one. Also its just a matter of time that the bluetooth one can get hacked. We have 2 of these locks, on our garage and our house. Had them for about a year and never had an issue with them. We also live in an area where temps range from -20'F to 95'F.
Great Lock & Features for the money
September 27, 2016
I love these things! I was looking for a keyless lock for an outdoor fence gate. My concerns were: would it suffice for a wooden fence gate and would it hold up in the weather. Other reviews or comments stated the product wouldn't last in the rain. I contacted Schlage directly to ask and was informed they are designed for outdoor use/subjected to rain. I purchased one to test it out and it works great. One month in Florida rains and it works fine. Other info: You can enter up to 19 individual codes. It's easy to install and program. It will hold your programming should you need to disconnect the battery (I disconnected my battery for about 2 minutes and it held my codes). It's easy enough to change the battery as you just remove two screws and pop off the 'inside' door knob/cover. I've since ordered two more for the house.
The perfect/versatile digital lock for interior doors!
March 24, 2016
VERY easy to install, especially with a simple video tutorial I found on YouTube (look up "How To Install a Electronic Keypad Lock (Schlage)" by "Wayne Winton" if you want very clear instructions). The buttons feel nice and high quality, the finish of the handle and base are stellar (and come in a wide array of colors to match most door styles), and the beeps the buttons emit are only audible when you're very close to it - not loud or obvious like I thought they would be.Will definitely trust Schlage for my future digital security needs in the future. :)
Good lock
September 1, 2015
I have two of these, and each is backed up with a deadbolt for added security (when needed). It's normal use is so that -- if needed -- rescuers can reach my mother without destroying the doors. In that situation, either a person inside who cannot reach the door, or someone at a remote location, can call for help, and simply give the code to the person on the telephone. So, either 9-1-1 or a neighbor can respond and quickly gain access. No looking for fake dog poop or buried keys! For this application, the keyed deadbolts are left unlocked, but having a separate deadbolt enables you to lock it when needed. So. If everyone is in the house, or you'll be leaving for an extended period -- you can lock the deadbolts.Installation is very easy, an adding additional codes on,y takes a few seconds. If needed, rekeying these locks is very simple, as they contain a standard Schlage cylinder. Simply pop the cylinder out and take it to the store, and they'll get it straightened out quickly. Remember to take the keys. However, if you opt to take in the lock -- most of them tend to freak out because it's an "electronic" lock. If you don't tell them where it came from, no one freaks out and everything works fine.
Second house and third unit!
January 7, 2014
My husband and I have used this unit for about 3 years total. We bought them for our old house (front door and barn) and for our new house (front door, and soon to be barn once remodeled). They are simple to install (just needs one girl and a screwdriver), easy to program and have worked flawlessly. We conditioned ourselves to change the batteries on the unit when we change the batteries on the fire alarms so there is no accidental lockout. There has been very few glitches that we have seen. The biggest glitch is that it shows it wont power on. You can madly press buttons but it doesn't work. Give it a minute after you have rolled your face on the buttons and it will "wake up". For 3 locks, 3 years, it has only done this to us about 3 times. If you have your key handy, no worries. If you run key-free, go sit in your car and listen to the rest of that Journey song and by the time its over, its up and running again.

Well made and easy installation.
September 8, 2017
Ordered 2 of these. It took me less than 15 minutes to install each one. Sturdy and well built, they don't feel-or look- cheap at all. Works perfectly right out of the box.Too early to tell how they will hold up.
Very convenient and useful
April 27, 2017
I have had this just over a month now, and it seems to work perfectly. It did not fit on my door, as i have a window in my door, with the slats running across it. I used a dremel tool to route out the area of the molding that was in the way, and made it fit. So if you have a door with a window in it, that runs all the way across it, this will not fit without some modification to the door. Besides that, very convenient and useful product. I give it five stars for working correctly.

Great lock.
March 4, 2015
Terrific lock. I highly recommend this model. Installation is not any more difficult than a regular door lock that you buy at Wal-Mart. The quality and fit/finish of this lock is first rate. The operation is fantastic. It comes in so handy when you are at the door with your hands full and there is no way you want to fish out your keyring. One finger can input the code and have you inside in a flash. Terrific for these blizzard days we're having.

Good numberpad doorknob
November 16, 2016
Purchased this lock to replace a doorknob with no lock. The intention was simply to have an easily securable room (rather than a safe or other smaller storage area - that would limit storage space). We use this to secure a room WITHIN our home...for example, when repairmen/cable guy are over, or when our guests have children who enjoy "exploring". This allows us to secure a single room, and lockdown items without spending time rearranging the safe, etc.Color of the doorknob matched the photos and description described online. Installation was done by myself and a screwdriver, in about 15mins (including removal of the existing knob). Users Manual illustrated installation well. Instructions for setting passwords were very clear. All in all, a very good product but slightly expensive for the strength of materials used in construction. I would recommend this product to anyone, for a similar purpose as I listed above, but not for securing primary entrance (this type of lock is easily defeat able given the right training and time)
A good door handle and lock
October 30, 2016
I bought this because my old door knob just fell apart. I have a different brand on the inner door, but they don't make that anymore so I decided on this one. I prefer this kind of handle because it is easy to open when carrying groceries and my family hates carrying keys.Pros: sturdy and easily programmable. Works well and automatically locks.Cons: only 4 digit code(not as secure as my 6 digit)The keypad does not automatically light up when you hit a number. This is a bit annoying in the dark.Overall it works well and we like it.
A Fine Product That Disappoints
October 22, 2016
A fine product that disappointed me several ways. Firstly, it uses only 4-digit user unlocking codes. Bicycle locks have 4-digit codes. For something protecting all one's worldly possessions, six digits might be a bit more secure. Oddly, there is a 6-digit code needed to program user codes. Apparently, protecting the user codes is more important than protecting the home's contents. This lock was designed for exterior use but I am using it on an interior door that will remain unlocked at most times. Thus I was attracted to the "Flex Lock" function that allows the lock to "remain unlocked" for prolonged periods. Unfortunately, Leaving it in unlocked mode is accomplished electronically rather than mechanically. It pulls in the same solenoid that entering the unlocking code does. Thus, it depletes the battery continually in "unlocked" mode. I'd be surprised if the battery lasted more than a day or two if I used it as I'd intended, which I do not. Finally, when a user code is entered, the lock unlocks for five full seconds. Two seconds should have been more than enough to press the lever after the 4th digit is entered. It just seems wasteful of battery life. A quibble, surely, but something that bugs me.It's a nice-looking, well-built lock. My biggest disappointment by far is the limitation of 4-digit user codes. There's only a 1-year warranty on the electronics. When those die (and Schlage doesn't seem too confident in them), you're back to using a key like everyone else.
Very easy to install
June 24, 2016
Very easy to install, very nice decorative locks. They work perfectly, my only wish is that you could close the deadbolt by pushing the button when you exit your house. Instead, you have to set the lock before you shut the door and it locks automatically. Somewhat annoying if you have to run back into the house (as busy moms often do). I'd rather just push a button to lock.
Like both the deadbolt and standard door handle model
August 14, 2015
I have these on all my outside doors and one inside door. I really like them no keys other than the bypass key that I don't need to carry just keep the batteries fresh but the last for awhile but I haven't fully tested that yet, going by what the package was stating. Nice quality, checked them out at Lowes first. Grade 2 lock so it should be pretty good. Easy to program and having the ability to set specific codes for someone like a dog walker is nice since you can remove it instead of giving a key out.

December 2, 2014
We use this on our back door and it works fairly well. I haven't had to change the batteries yet and it's been in place for almost a year. The only thing I wish it would do is lock the handle when it is locked from the inside. You can open the door from the inside just by pulling on it, even if it's locked. I don't think there's a setting I could use to make this happen.Lights at night are bright enough to unlock the buttons. I don't regret getting this and the family loves it as well.

Nice lock - good quality - super easy install - a little loud, but that's ok.
On flaw in the design but overall good.
April 18, 2017
great value. works well but has one serious flaw. the flaw is that it can activated to the lock position (on the key side) but simply pressing the button without having to enter the code. If you have kids, they WILL lock you out so make sure you do not lose the code or the key.

Can't say how it will stand up to high heat here in the south. It poses a problem.
Change your batteries once a month.
October 14, 2016
Its a nice dead bolt. Its convenient and programmable. Now I don't need to carry an extra key around with me and I don't have to give guests a spare key. However, you'll have to change the batteries out about once a month, or else you might find yourself locked out. That's a bit of a hassle. If the battery life were to be able to last longer, then this would be perfect!

June 23, 2016
I've had it for a couple of weeks. Customer service was very good. I called the number for an issue I was having and had a very knowledgable person assist me. The issue was that I accidentally put old batteries in the lock. My only complaint is that the lock doesn't lock by itself after a minute like my kwikset one.
Heavy, solid lock, very nice finish, easy operation.
March 20, 2016
This is a very heavy duty lock with a great finish. I had some difficulty programming it, but the customer service agent for the company was extremely helpful when I called, and we got it working in a minute or less. I bought a second one for our other 4plex, and we shall see how long they last. The keypad locks from Home depot lasted 1 year for the cheapest, 2 years for the more expensive keypad lock from kwikset. If this one lasts 1 uear, it was still a better deal than home depot, costing less than their cheapest model. It was easy to install, a little tricky to program the first time, great operation, smooth and fairly quiet for this kind of lock. I gave it 4 stars for now, til I see how it wears with regular use.

Just ok....
October 6, 2017
Just received this....Odd thing. The only way you can lock this is from the inside. I have other electronic locks where you simply push one button from the outside. The other troublesome area here is customer service...I waited 35 minutes on hold to get a question answered. Their hours of operation are not West Coast User friendly....The close at 3pm Pacific. Other than that the lock seems ok.
Works well, poor coating that peeled after less than 2 years, and extremely painful battery exchange required
May 15, 2017
Well it is 2.5 years later. So far the lock has functioned very well. It is on an outdoor gate that gets a bit of sun in the morning, but being in Palm Springs, gets pretty well no rain on it whatsoever, due to the lack of rain here and its very sheltered location.Time to do a battery change. This is a complete pain, which is why I am giving it only 3 stars. You basically are disassembling the entire door handle from the door. It took about 1 minute to disassemble, 30 seconds to replace the battery, and about 15 minutes to re-assemble which is completely nothing but an exercise in alignment. It is probably easier with 2 people and if you cannot push the keypad side handle against the wall, you really will need 2 people to CHANGE THE BATTERY. On the nonkeypad side, you need to align the plastic battery carrier plate to the door with the upper and lower tangs so that they slide on the SIDES of the screw holders on the keypad side. This is the most essential alignment step. Then put the non-keypad handle and cover over that assembled plastic battery carrier which should be flat against the wall. Jiggle and assemble and screw. It is a very very poor design, and it is crazy to do this much work to simply change a battery. I would trade off the single piece cover design for a battery compartment that opens WITHOUT DISASSEMBLING the entire door handle. As well, I think a 9 volt battery is ridiculous. This lock gets used about 3 times a week. The battery didn't even last 3 years. Maybe the heat is an excuse. As well, after just under 2 years, the entire black finsih peeled off the keypad side which gets maybe 2 hours of sun a day. Pretty poor coating. It's a sideyard gate, so I don't really care, but if it was my front door I would then give this 1 maybe 2 stars, based on the terrible appearance with minimal weather exposure. It really should support more than 4 number combinations as well. I bought other keypad locks for doors that support multiple different length combos, have a slide off cover that allows the replacement of the 4 AA batteries in under 2 minutes, that also come with remotes for opening. I would have bought those had I known, as I have 2 of those on other exterior doors.Poor poor battery change design. The engineers who designed this clearly were never forced to do a battery change, which is a shame. They should now be forced to do 100 of them each on their own time on a national holiday, for foisting this awful piece of poor design on the buying public. Bet it would be improved the next day.

Not for use in cold climate?
January 2, 2013
Other reviews have noted odd behavior where a user can enter the unlock code correctly, the lock makes all the right blinks and clicks, but the lock handle fails to engage and open the lock. I got that behavior recently. In my case, it happens when the lock, which is on an unheated garage, gets cold. The lock seems to fail whenever it's less than 10 F outside. Around here, that is pretty much every night all winter long. Daytime temps are still below freezing, but the lock works if it's above 10 F.A lock that leaves you outside in the rain or bitter cold is not a product I'd purchase again, nor would I recommend it.I'm back to carrying the keys, because I can't trust this thing to be there when I need it.
A Little Disappointed
October 26, 2012
This lock was designed to install in a wood door and my application was a metal clad door. This was not addressed in the online description. This necessitated removing some cast projections from the back face of keypad so that all the components would extend far enough to engage the mechanism on the inside. Works O.K. Instructions say to change the combination regularly because constant pressing of the same keys will result in obvious wear and telegraph the combination. I would suggest this is a design problem which should be remedied. When one considers all the other numbers one needs to memoriae adding a number that needs to be changed periodically can become a burden.

October 15, 2016
I wish I had known the entire lock wasn't going to be in a metal with satin finish. The outside looks great. Easy to install and program. However, the inside part is a hard plastic with a silver finish. It looks extremely cheap and I hate it but it'll do until I can buy a nicer one.
Good lock, watch the version if you're looking for a smartlock though.
March 3, 2016
Amazon reviews & questions have unfortunately steered me wrong again. I purchased a DF-02SN in part because the information implied that it was Insteon compatible. It is not. The QF-02SN (and QF-01SN) are. Basically just a smarter version of this lock that is compatible with smartphones and whatnot. The lock works fine with the numeric keypad - I wanted more remote options though which the DF line does not do. I'm looking forward to the day when Amazon separates reviews to the product, not the whole product line.

I like it, but it doesn't always work. Every now and then it stops accepting pre-set--this makes me nervous. I also wish the back was as solid as the front and not plastic.

It functions as advertised, but for exterior use I am not impressed. We purchased two of these. One is inside the garage and out of direct sunlight. It is fine. The other is located on the west side of the house and receives 7 or 8 hours of direct sunlight at best. It is seldom used, but the paint is peeling off all over the place and it looks bad. It has been installed for perhaps 2 years.

Replace dysfunctional lock immediately
January 14, 2016
I ordered this model, intended for the garage, along with the DKK-02SN, which we put on the front door. The front door MiLock is working great even with the crazy winter weather we've been having. This DF-02SN model, which was installed a mere 10 feet away from the front door and thus subject to the same weather conditions, was finicky from the start. It stopped working altogether (despite brand new batteries used at installation) conveniently right around the time that I was no longer allowed to return the item to Amazon. I've been using a physical key to get into the garage, which is totally not the point of having keyless locks all over the place. I've also tried submitting my complaint directly on the MiLock website twice and have yet to get a reply. Super annoying. It could just be something wrong with this particular lock, but I really wish someone would help me replace it!

I have had this lock for less than 1 year and the wire connector has fallen out twice and has left us unable to get into our house. I never write bad reviews but we run an Airbnb and this is how our guest come in and out of our house. We had to get a locksmith! I am extremely disappointed with this product and the fact that you can not ask for a replacement less than a year later when obviously there is a defect to it is extremely unprofessional and shows that they do not stand by there product!

I had one of these that lasted a dozen years. When it finally died I replaced it with the same model. While switching it out, I noticed the internal parts of the old one were metal and the new one is all plastic. After only a few months, it stopped working when it's wet. Not good for an outdoor lock.

ordered this and when it arrived read the install instructions. Surprise! Schlage hasn't figured out how to make the backset adjustable. nowhere in the info did it say that it only fit a 2 1/8" back set - we have a 2 3/8". So we now have to pay to ship it back and get the Kwikset that is adjustable to fit our door. Never again Schlage.
Not durable enough... dies for no reason
July 8, 2013
Let's cut to the chase... is one of these worth it if it only lasts a few years? Not for the price, in my opinion. They look nice and when it works it is nice... but what do you do with it if it stops working? Then it is merely a pointlessly expensive lock that doesnt work. Ours stopped working for no reason that I can tell... you can hit the code, get a green light... but it doesnt unlock anymore. Read other reviews, this happened to several other people. It seems to be a flaw in the design. It could happen at any time because it seems to happen for little reason. What I did instead of replacing my non-functioning lock at $120+... was buy a Chamberlain garage door key code opener to mount for under $30... even if that only works a few years, its better than buying one of these as an expensive throwaway lock. Ultimately, I just need a way for people I know to be able to access my house via a code... going the garage door route is simply the way I would recommend people going in light of what I have experienced with these unreliable locks.

I initially really enjoyed this lock but then the battery died after about four months. I have tried four different brands of 9V batteries in it and none of them last more than one day. I tried to take it back to Lowes but didn't have the receipt so "no dice". I feel totally "ripped off" by the lock, which wasn't inexpensive. I'm looking at another brand that doesn't require a battery.Schlage FE595VCAM619ACC Camelot Keypad Accent Lever Door Lock, Satin Nickel
