Five Star Reviews:

camera and everything still works fantastic! I'm glad I was able to save money ...
April 30, 2017
Bought this product as something to teach my younger brother how to use a drone with and see how he'd do with one before investing a lot of money into a pricier model. I bought this over a year ago and the battery life, camera and everything still works fantastic! I'm glad I was able to save money on this affordable model because it seems that my little brother only takes a slight interest in flying it - so probably not as big of a hobby for him yet as we had thought. This works well enough that everyone in the family has fun using it.
Great entry level flyer.

Works great. Just as described. My 10 year old became a pro with this quad-copter. She could do stunts and always faced it the correct direction. It was very easy to fly. If something where to happen to this one, I would definitely purchase it again. The only weird thing is that this camera also includes audio. Which is nice I guess? When your flying it a hundred of meters in the air, all you can hear is the spinning blades. In all of our videos all you can ever hear, is the wind and the blades.
so if you use a standard smart phone ac - USB adapter to charge the batteries
December 30, 2016
OK, so there are some negative reviews for the drone. One was battery only lasting a minute and the other where it went up and then just continued and never returned. I have flown mine 10+ times so far and both things happened, you want to know why? First, the charger supplied will charge two batteries at the same time. this charger plugs into an USB port. so if you use a standard smart phone ac - USB adapter to charge the batteries, guess what, it will not work because the mini transformer for a phone charger is only rated at 1 amp. You either can only charge one battery at a time using the phone USB charger OR get a 2 amp USB AC transformer to charge two batteries at the same time. Second, Drone flying away on its own. YES, it happened to me, why? because I flew it with a wind of about 10MPH. sure there was no wind in my back yard, but when I got over my house, there was enough up draft that it all of a sudden shot up another 40 feet. Plus it was drifting away even though I was pitching towards me. Since the wind came over the house and tall trees in the back yard kept the drone very high in the sky, JUST like a kite. It was high then went out of range. Lucky it was at night and I watched it drift very far away into the next neighborhood, while coming down slowly (20% throttle) as stated on most sites. This drone when out of range will reduce to 20% and to a hoover, but if it is in a cross wind it will drift far away. I got VERY lucky to find that it missed all trees and softly landed in someone's front yard as designed (yes, the owner was outside at the time and saw it land in their yard). SO, both failures were my fault, not using the proper rated USB charger and flying my drone in wind greater then 5mph.So, this is a great starter drone and is easy to learn on with the two mode feature. As for the camera, not bad at all for a cheap unit, very impressed. In Mode 2 (advance) it banks very well an is stable. When paring remote to drone, make sure you are on level surface. Once you get it off the ground, hover at 6' and adjust yor trim so it hovers straight and doesn't drift. Then go have fun. flies much between when balanced. Remember, DO NOT fly in winds more then 5 MPH or you run the risk of it drifting away since this is so light it does not have the power to fight strong wind currents.
Wow, great product!

This thing is very fun! I received it for Christmas and love it. The batteries last at least 15 minutes with each charge. They are easy to swap out and the charger will charge both of them at the same time. I haven't taken it outside yet but have used it quite a bit indoors. It has fallen from 12 feet into my table, couch and the floor without any damage at all. The pictures are fine look good when you have light in the house. They are grainy when in low light but that is to be expected. The video does have sound, but with it right under the props, you get a lot of prop noise in it. I am very happy with the quality of this product. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was for the quality! Its easy to control and has different modes. One is directional so that it will keep the same perspective no matter which direction its facing. This makes it easy for new people to control. The other mode allows you to fly it on standard mode where it directional flying and perspective changes. I love it and would buy it again!
Excellent starter Quadcopter that will keep you entertained for a long time!!!

This drone is quite easy to fly and operate. It offers several different combinations of flight setups, which make make the flight controls vary from easy to moderately difficult (and faster). It takes a little while (at least several flights) before you become familiar with the controls and how it reacts to the inputs. In flight mode 1, you can reach altitudes quite quickly, so be cautious of the throttle at first. Try low altitudes at first, using just enough throttle to maintain a 10-15 foot altitude. The LED running lights make it easy to track for night flights. The camera takes decent enough photos, I can't wait to be able to steer it well enough to point it to take photos of what I want! There are only a few negatives: The instruction manual is not particularly well translated, so it doesn't make much sense prior to your first flight. The batteries last less than 10 minutes each, and the bonus remote USB charger takes a long time to re-charge the batteries. The camera's resolution is fairly low (think a cell phone camera from 2006), so don't expect HD pictures. But it's better than Google Earth at it's closest resolution!Otherwise, this is a fantastic quadcopter to start with. I have only ever flown the micro-copters in the past, and this blows those away.
One Tough Little MF
December 22, 2015
I really love my Quadcopter. I agree the camera is not that great, the batteries don't last that long and it is for the newbie; But, this thing rocks. It can handle me crashing it into everything. My dog has jumped up into the air and flung it across the yard more times than I can remember. I can not land it I just cut power and let it find its own way to the ground and it will always take back off. I keep a fly fishing pole handy to snag it off the roof but it keeps on flying: and now for the rest of the story.I took it over to my brothers house where his pack of kids got to play with it. I love my nieces and nephews but they got their destructive gene from me. Needless to say after several crash landings and tree climbing it finally ended up on the roof, buried in snow. With no sane way to get it down (left my fly pole at home and my brother doesn't fish) I thought it was a a goner and started planning my next purchase. It sat there for over a month, on the roof, exposed to the elements of Central Oregon (Sun, rain, snow all in a two hour time frame most days). He brought it back after his wife found it in the yard after it was finally blown off the roof. Keep in mind this a month later.IT STILL POWERED UP AND FLEW.Yes, the UDI 818 HD+ RC Quadcopter is back at home being crashed into the neighbors backyard. I could not believe it but it is a tough little MF.
Great little drone
June 6, 2016
My friend and I were on a trip in the Caribbean and decided we wanted to play with toys while we were there so we had them sent out to another friend who was meeting us. When they arrived both of the quads worked great but one of the controllers was non functioning. First off let me say that we were really bummed out as we were so excited about our toys but there are some serious pros to these little quads and it starts with Holy Stone...The quads themselves fly great-they are speedy and for a quad this size the video is actually pretty good in broad daylight although it is really noisy and useless at night although what can you expect for the price. These little quads are super durable as well-these were our first quads ever and as such we took turns running them into walls, dropping them from 40 feet plus-it didn't seem to matter what we did-they just kept right on going. On top of that my friend launched his up about 150 feet at which point he panicked and let go of the throttle, it dropped directly in between two trees and into a swampy algae filled fountain. The lights stayed on but it took some coaxing on my part to get him to ask any of the resort folks for a pool net or something to try and retrieve it. All in all it sat in 2 feet of water for over ten minutes before one of the employees helped us get it out, 2 hours later it was sitting in a bag of rice and 7 hours later it was up and flying. He then took it out to a parking lot where he decided to test it's range-it fell twice from about 100 feet with no prop guards before he had to use electric tape to reinforce the cracks in the legs and then two days later he flew it up and away to be lost forever in his neighborhood. If this doesn't help you to understand how much of a beating this thing can take nothing will. Back to my controller issue-I emailed them right away as I was irritated to let them know what was happening. They responded right away-faster than any seller I have ever communicated with however they asked me for a video of the problem so I was even more annoyed. I sent it and they offered to send me an "unsellable unit" so that I could piece it together-I was not happy with that conclusion as I could easily end up with two bad controllers and no flying so we talked further. All the while by the way their response time was amazingly fast-long and short of it they had me jumping through hoops which I refused to jump through and in the end of it sent me a complete replacement which was awesome of them...except that the new drone didn't work only the controller. So in the end of all things I ended up with one complete drone. they did ship the second one incredibly fast and asking me for the video in retrospect was reasonable given the fact that people I am sure try and hustle sellers out of free goods and their communication was stellar so I have to say that while I was stuck with a non working product for a bit they were pretty great in dealing with it. I would say all in all I would buy from them again and wouldn't hesitate doing the same if you haven't-the quad is an awesome beginners drone and they did a good job making an irritating situation work.
This thing is awesome to learn on
July 3, 2015
This thing is awesome to learn on, and has taken quite a few falls from high altitudes and still picked it up and flew it/ crashed it some more. After I finally got the hang of it (I am old) It provides great video, and a lot of fun to fly. Don't take it out in a heavy wind, unless you are prepared to walk down a hill, that is heavily wooded, search for an hour, and almost lose hope when you finally spot it hanging in a tree above eye level. hope you like it as I do, and hope I got a smile out of my mistakes.
Fantastic Little Quadcopter!
June 26, 2015
This little drone is fantastic. It's small but still can fight some decent wind. The video and picture quality was far better than I was ever expecting. Took it up after a thunderstorm in Naples FL to get some shots of the sunset, it was windy but it made it. Great buy for sure! I also bought the aftermarket/upgraded batteries, not sure if it makes a huge difference in performance but I like to think so. It also records audio. If you are looking at this item, buy it.
I've had no problems with syncing, flying, calibrating, worked perfectly right away.
Awesome. I'm buying my 5th one now.
May 31, 2015
So far I've bought 5 of these. The first one just stopped working, so I gave Holystone another chance. The second one I got stuck in a tree, and it rained later the day so I thought it wouldn't work again and bought another one. The drone from the tree came down after 3 days of rain and still worked perfectly. Then I had 2 drones. I flew one up high and a strong wind caught it, blew it over our lake and it disappeared. My last drone I flew on a calm day over the lake. I find that anytime it is over a body of water, the signal stops working. I watched as as 4th drone plummeted into the water 5 feet from me. So don't fly it over water. If it goes up high and gets out of signal, the video will stop recording. When it comes back into signal it thinks "record" means "stop record" so I turn off and back on the drone every few minutes incase this "reverse" happens. The microSD has failed to come with the drone 50% of the time, and every time it does it doesn't last past 2 flights. Buy a new microSD has always done the trick. Love these drones and I'm about to buy another one. Get a new microSD, don't fly over water, unplug the battery every 5-10 mins to make sure it records, and you'll be fine. Also, 2 motors spin one way and 2 spin another way, so when replacing propellers, know that the front motors require different propellors. You'll figure it out. Good luck! A video of me flying it is on YouTube. Type in Unwrinked Prune Drone Adventures. The picture is a little blurry cause it's a screenshot from a video, but it goes way higher than that. KEEP IN MIND AT HIGH ALTITUDE IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHICH WAY IT IS GOING. ITS SMALL! A lot smaller than it looks. About as big as your hand when you spread your fingers.

Unbelievably amazing! You couldn't go wrong with this impressive quad copter, the range alone is made my jaw drop from flying it so far in the sky i lost sight of it. the camera is ok but its a 2 mp so its worth the price. i absolutely love the way it flys and how fast and agile it cuts and flips to your skill level. I have bought several mini quads and this is the home run of them all. its a must buy if your into the market of mini drones.

Four Star Reviews:

The instructions are very easy to read and understand
December 30, 2016
I got this drone for Christmas! I have never flown a drone before but have always wanted one for pictures and video. The instructions are very easy to read and understand. It's pretty easy to fly, obviously you get better with practice. My only complaint is that it only has a 7-9 minute fly time with the battery. I have started looking around to see if you can buy a better battery for longer flight time, but so far I haven't found anything. The video quality is really good and it can fly a little over 300 feet away! The controller will start to beep at you when the battery is dying. The battery does die pretty quickly! We almost lost the drone in a tree because as soon as it tarts beeping (aka the battery life is low) you start losing control of the drone fairly quickly. So AS SOON as you hear the beeping, make sure you immediately start to fly it back to you. I am happy with the drone especially for my first one. But I can already tell I will be wanting to buy a new one soon if I cannot figure out how to make the battery life last longer.
You can't beat this for the price. I've had ...
October 12, 2016
You can't beat this for the price. I've had it for a couple of weeks now, and the learning curve was not too steep. I've already been able to hover and walk beside the quadcopter while flying it about head height. I would note that the last video game I played was Pong, and I've never owned a remote controller flyer of this sophistication previously. It's reasonably rugged. It caught a gust of wind and crashed into an oak tree with enough force to disconnect the battery connector and dislodge the battery, which I found several feet from the quadcopter. The copter itself crashed upside down after colliding with the tree. The only evident damage was a slightly bent prop, which I simply straightened out. The camera also shoots decent photos and videos. For the price, you have to remove the micro SD card from the camera and download the pics to a computer, but that was simple using the card adapter that comes with the unit. Don't attempt to fly in anything more than a whisper of a breeze, because it will almost certainly get away from you! Battery life is only about 5-7 min. There are 2 included, but you'll probably want to order spares--along with their multiport charger.
Fun drone, light weight, decent camera, easy to fly... a little hard to hover.
July 12, 2016
Ok, I'm glad my first review was rejected LOL. I've had this about a week. A friend has a really expensive drone and got me interested so he told me to buy a cheapish one to learn on. After a lot of research and comparison and reading reviews I went with this one. The only thing it's lacking is the ability to stream the camera feed to a phone while flying. It's nice that it came with 2 batteries and a battery bank to recharge them so you end up with about 30 minutes of flying time overall.Day 1 I tried to fly it around my apartment. I realized it's too big and my ceilings aren't high enough to really do anything fun. So, I took it to my patio and yeah same thing, just not enough room. It wouldn't hover in 1 place very well even with the little adjustments you can make on the controller. I was kind of upset about the lack of hover but I figured maybe when it got it into a larger lot I could adjust it better.Today I took it to my neighborhood dog park where i know no one goes LOL. It's an open lot but surrounded by fences and next to a private property gated area. I should have realized it was still too small and it was very windy. I tested it a few times very low and decided I could manage with the wind. I flew it a few times and was getting the hang of it. It's actually easier to fly without the headless mode and it's pretty easy to keep up with where the front is since you're not really going to go that far away from yourself. I took a few videos. The wind did make it hard and I could only fly it a few minutes each time before landing and retrieving to ensure it stayed in the park. The videos are decent for the cost of the whole thing. I did a few flips which was cool. Overall I had fun,, that is until I got it up and my field of view/depth perception was off, a gust of wind and it was near the fence,, I thought I was on one side and yeah,, oops down it went on the private property and flipped upside down LOL. I tried to fish it out,, then I tried to find a way in with no luck. I saw a car in the lot next to it and with some patience someone finally showed up and they gave me the drone :) yay.I think this is a good value for the price. It doesn't have GPS and I haven't tried to homing button because I really haven't flown it enough. But with just a short time I was flying it around and got used to it, the flips are easy and fun to watch. I just need to go to a bigger lot with no fences and less wind next time.If you're looking for a beginner drone I think this is good deal. I"m happy with it so far. It hits the ground hard and bounces a lot but so far no damage. It comes with extra blades and gears in case you mess it up. I paid the 8 bucks for insurance too so if I mess it up for 2yrs they'll repair/replace it. My only complaint is how difficult it has been for me to get it to hover in one place while I try to take pictures and learn to fly it. But, yeah that feature will come when I upgrade I'm sure.
It was awesome for the day my son got to use it
December 14, 2015
It was awesome for the day my son got to use it. It flew well and the controls were easy to figure out, especially after viewing the tutorial video. Unfortunately my son decided to take it out for a flight while I was not there and when it started to go into some bushes behind our house he jammed down the throttle and launched the thing over the highway 100 ft behind our house (so he says) before he got his wits together and tried to bring it back but by then it was out of range of the remote and dropped into a construction site on the other side of the highway. We went over there and searched for an hour but couldn't find it. Poor kid was devastated as this was his birthday gift and will not be replaced.
Great Value! Easy Learning Curve!
September 30, 2015
For under $100, this thing is great. This is my first quad copter and this one is easy to control, takes decent video and still pics. I've included a pic from about 200ft up. Pretty durable too. I've crashed landed this into trees, onto concrete and bounced it off walls, It's a very forgiving design. I didn't give it 5 stars for a couple reasons. The first is that if there is anything more than a gentle breeze, the wind catches it pretty easily. The second reason is that the power bank that came with it is pretty weak. It only charged the two batteries one time. I tried charging my cell phone with it and it only gave my phone a 10% charge. But, that part was free. Do yourself a favor and order a couple extra batteries. Flight time is only about 5-7 Minutes before it starts beeping at you as a warning of a low battery.Overall, great value and good fun for a beginner!
Durrable, fun, good learning drone.
August 15, 2015
Sturdy little drone, i'm very happy with it's durability. See below for a funny story about that.It does tends to drift even in still air. There are controls to adjust the pitch and yaw, but they don't seem to work. Or at least when they do, they don't last for very long. I gave up and have learned to just compensate manually. The wind does take it, since it's fairly light. On one of my first ourdoor flights, it got away from me. I panicked and cut the power (should have gunned it), it fell into the tree in the back yard. We spent an hour or so trying to get it down to know avail. After two weeks (and multiple thunder storms) it worked its way down a story or so to a place we could get at it with a pole. It was freed today, and i'm happy to report, works like a charm. The footage from that voyage is hilarious. The camera is decent for what it is, and it does also record sound.I won't be flying it around trees in the wind anytime soon :)
Best I have tried
June 5, 2016
By far it is the best of the small drones I have. I was actually able to fly it in a large loop for a bit. My biggest problem is controlling the altitude and to get it to hover. Can't seem to find that magic spot. It will hover for a bit and then either go up or down. It was a bit windy and VERY hot (I'm in Phoenix Arizona) which I’m sure contributed to my problems. I’m new to this game so if you are a pro you shouldn’t have any problems with this unit. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is that there were a couple of issues and I hardly ever give anyone 5 stars. If you are thinking of buying a small drone this would be a good choice.
Fun little drone to mess with.
January 4, 2016
It works well and is fun to play around with. Seen tons of videos of people flying the like pros.... I'm not that good yet. The video is so so and it needs a lot of light. The camera has a microphone also which is kind of pointless because all you hear is the motors and air. It holds up very to crashes and controls fairly well. The battery life is rather short but that was expected. Pretty much it was as advertised. Everything the seller claimed has been true, good or bad.
Good for teens
December 30, 2015
This is a good entry level drone. I bought it for my son for Christmas, and as he's had experience with other rc flying devices, this one was relatively easy to learn. It is pretty loud, and sounds like a swarm of bees. The charge on the batteries doesn't last very long, so maybe get extra if you plan to fly for a while. I was wondering if the video had sound and if you would be able to hear the loud buzz on playback, and you definitely can. Not such a big deal though, the good video quality kind of makes up for that. The picture quality is good too. The only issues we had were that one port on the battery charger was loose and wouldn't charge the batteries right, but the company has been quick in response to that. Another problem was one of the rotors won't turn now but I think its because an unexpected wind gust caught the drone and made it land hard in some bushes. We haven't flown it without the training cover off as to protect it as long as we can. Overall, its a good entry level drone for the price I paid before it went up. I didn't want to get anything too expensive as we've never owned one before, but if I were to buy another I would feel confident in paying more for something with more bells and whistles, even if the government will require they be registered.
UPDATED: Great for the money! Great for beginners!
August 7, 2015
This little quadcopter is great for beginners (like me)! After I charged the two batteries, watched a couple of videos on the F180C on YouTube and I'm a drone pilot! Okay, I haven't made it past the 25% control level, but I am looking forward to improving. The F180C is fun and sturdy! It comes with so many extras that others do not. When I am ready to advance to an upgraded quadcopter, I will definitely take a long look at the other Holy Stone products!
I have to update my original review and drop one star. I have not even had this a month yet and the positive battery wire broke off of the circuit board after approx. 20 flights. Being new to this hobby, some of you may just say suck it up, take it apart and solder the wire back on. I am attempting to do that now, but I feel like the Jolly Green Giant trying to put a diaper on a human baby! Having said that I am thinking that these wires should be better protected from inserting and removing the battery pack.
Great Fun, but Slight Poor Battery Connection Design
July 16, 2015
I ordered this "Holy Stone® mini RC Quadcopter with 720P Camera,4CH 6-Axis Gyro 2.4 GHz" that I will refer to as the F180C for the rest of this review. I ordered it Amazon Prime and got it in a couple days as expected. Holy Stone is adamant about Customer Service and I've received an email, and on the return request a call asking if they could help, so they wanted to ensure I was happy with the purchase and if I needed any replacement parts. I also read a lot of reviews here and most say the same thing, so Holy Stone gets 5 stars from me, but this F180C I am only giving 4 stars and I'll try to explain.

I ultimately returned this for it's larger variant, the F181. FYI, the F181 is not a mini so if you want small this F180C is the one to stick with, but be gentle. I used this for a couple days and worked great, I did get a couple broken propellers the first couple days, but they give you 8 extra so that was no big deal and I'd be fine purchasing new ones if need be. It controlled great, and as well as the F181 I currently own. The cage that comes with it is nice, but doesn't help if it gets too close to something from the above, only the sides and bottom are protected. I didn't have issues with objects from above though: one propeller broke when i got to close to a slow moving ceiling fan and it got knocked to the wall and onto the carpet. It still worked great after, and the next prop broke from a crash in which it still got up and worked like a champ after popping on a new prop.

My issue came when I was trying to remove the battery and even though I was being gentle trying to slide it out by shimmying it out, once I got it out I noticed the black wire disconnected from the circuit board which is clearly visible with the battery out. I later came back and found some other reviews that had the same issue, and quite a few, so instead of trying to solder it back on, or asking for a replacement, I read and watched some other reviews and found the newer F181 which has a closed battery compartment with a power switch. That's all that it took to change my mind. I wasn't unhappy with the F180C, but I didn't want to risk having to continually re-solder the power leds back on.

I ordered this F180C, later the F181, both by Holy Stone, to learn the controls of an RC Quadcopter. I have a Dromida Ominus FPV as well, but it's $200 and I burned out 2 motors, broke a foot, and later my brother broke the main frame on the Ominus, so needless to say I wanted the cheaper one to learn on. I have reviewed the F181 so if you'd like you can read my review on that as well. After ordering these 2 quadcopters I am sad I bought the Dromida FPV first, I really only use the F181 now, but maybe in the future I'll play more with the Ominus. The point I'm trying to make is that these cheaper copters are perfectly fine for beginners and are a lot more durable than my Ominus.

As for this F180C, it controlled good, didn't handle the Southern Cali winds well, but did good for its size. The flips worked great, and the camera was nice, not perfect HD, but good. It does record in 720p with audio, but the noise from the copter is heard pretty loud though you can still hear talking if it's close enough. The cage is good, but even though having a cage over the top of the propellers may take away from the lift and control a little, it would be nice to have a full cage or even a detachable top cage as well for beginners like myself. I definitely think the circuit board should not be visible, and the battery wires should some how be tied down so that when pulling the battery it can't tug at the solder joints.

Over all I can say this is a nice Quadcopter for the house, just be very careful when putting in and taking out the battery, but it may never come loose as there are lots of other reviews who never mention them coming loose, and that is why I had to give it at least 4 stars even with my power led disconnecting. If I didn't find the F181 I probably would have sent it back for another F180C and been a lot more careful, maybe even trying to ziptie the battery wires to the cage so they didn't tug at the solder joints.

Fun sturdy drone hampered by poor battery life

The good: This drone is fun to fly when you get the hang of it. It will go pretty high and is still able to be controlled in light winds. The camera is fairly good but that shouldn't be the selling feature. It's also pretty sturdy. I have dropped it from the sky, banged into walls and my dog even catches it out of the air sometimes. It's still going strong. The bad: Batteries! I have had this drone for close to 2 months and I ordered 2 new batteries for a total of 4. ALL of them do not get more than 3-5 minutes of flying time. This kind of takes the fun out of it because you have to charge 4 batteries to get any kind of flying time that is worth it. Also, the controller starts beeping when the battery is almost out and it's kind of annoying. Mine starts beeping sometimes less than a minute after I start flying it.

Additional charger does not work, and the batteries have very limited fly-time. I would suggest saving up and getting a better drone.
Lost my X5C-1 and bought this to replace it.
September 10, 2015
I bought this drone after losing my Syma X5C-1, I'm basically going to be comparing the two.Camera: The UDI has a much much better camera, especially in low light situations. The Syma's camera is useless if you're not in broad daylight or a well lit building. The UDI has a huge flaw though, if the drone loses signal with the receiver it will stop recording until it regains signal. This makes it almost useless. When trying to get a panorama shot of my neighborhood the video was split into five different recordings. Another time I was flying after work and there was some strong winds about 30 feet up that blew the drone to the other side of the strip mall building. I assumed I'd be able to watch the path it took after it went past the buildings but it got basically nothing interesting. I'm taking off a star just for this function. Even though the camera on the Syma is inferior in every other way, a camera that records is better than one that doesn't so I'd recommend the Syma.Maneuverability: The UDI's the controller pretty solid, unfortunately the drone itself just isn't nearly as maneuverable as the Syma. When going for speed the Syma can easily hit twice the speed as the UDI. The UDI has the power it needs to perform but the flight programming isn't that good. At full power and full tilt with the Syma it drops altitude as it gains speed, the UDI just starts climbing once it starts getting any speed at all. I even took the huge faring off the UDI which helped tremendously but still wasn't as good as the Syma with all its gear still on. Beyond speed they both have very similar feel and are very responsive.Controller: Both controllers are really good quality but the UDI as a few features that really shine. Literally. The UDI controller has a backlight you can see at night. UDI also feeds you information, like a beep when the drones battery is getting low or an icon letting you know the camera is recording.Features: This UDI advertises some features that the Syma X5C-1 doesn't. First up is automatic return home button. This feature is garbage, doesn't work at all. First it has to be in headless mode, which works well for about 12 seconds before it loses calibration. I've tested it several times and usually what happens is the drone will start flying in a random direction and I have to guide it myself lest it crashes into something or fly's off into the wild blue yonder. I thought it would be a nice feature to have incase I get into trouble but if I ever did need to use it pressing 'return to home' would just make the situation worse. Useless.Ruggedness: Both the Syma and UDI are tied on this one. Both have taken a beating and kept going. I accedently pressed the flip button on the UDI the first time I flew it (it's the opposite button on the Syma remote) and I crashed it right into a ditch full of water. Dried it off and still works perfectly. Crashed them both plenty of times and so far all the spare blades remain unused.Battery: We are looking at very similar flight times for these two products. The nice thing about the UDI is it comes with TWO batteries instead of the Syma's one as well as a rechargeable portable power pack. At first I couldn't get my power pack to charge properly and I thought it was defective. Right before I was about to return it I tried using a different charging cable and that solved the problem. Not really a big deal since I had several extra lying around the house.Price: Syma X5C-1 $50 vs UDI 818A HD+ $100. With all the extra features the UDI touts I figured it would be worth paying double. It certainly was NOT. With the extra $50 you'd have buying the Syma you can by several extra batteries as well as a portable battery charger that's 5 times bigger than the one that comes with this bundle. Headless mode is worthless, automatic return to home even more so, camera is better but shuts on and off.Other thoughts: The UDI is much harder to fly at night, when flying at certain angles you cannot see the orientation lights at all and the drone seems to vanish. The Syma has an on/off switch which is really nice compared to the UDI which you have to unplug the battery, a bigger pain in the but than it might seem. The UDI has a slightly better controller but at the end of the day the difference is negligible. I won't say that I got ripped off, it's still a fun drone to fly, but if you're like me and you work hard for your money then I'd say go with the Syma. I regret not spending the same $100 on the X8C.

This product was poorly constructed. However Holy Stone has sent a replacement, which works much better, unfortunately it does not have a camera (which was why i purchased it for my husband). Because I appreciate them sending another I changed the rating from1 to 3
Returned for a refund and had connection and charging problems.
December 15, 2016
This was to be a Christmas gift for my son and I bought it given the modest price, the ability to record video, and the positive online reviews. Once received, I opened the package and was immediately underwhelmed. It is quite small and disappointing. I pulled it out and put the 4 AA batteries in the controller and charged the extra battery they provided (nice!). However, when I tried to remove the other battery that is shipped already installed in the drone, it was pretty hard to get out and I can't imagine pulling on those wires to remove it is good long-term. Also the charging adapter only seemed to work on one side, the other side couldn't get a good consisten connection so I could only charge one battery at a time (thought it is setup for two at a time). I tried it in our den and our dog's attention to it quickly reversed as she fled upstairs to hide. I couldn't get the trim levels set correctly allowing it to just hover. It was also difficult to maintain consistent altitude sometimes (though this is my first drone so I'm could be to blame). After adapting to the controls and feeling like my son's present wouldn't fly away never to be seen again if I took it outdoors, I turned it off and ventured outside. Did I mention the battery life is about 5 minutes? That is a really short time so very glad they included an extra battery. Once outside with nearly zero wind I was surprised by how much, what little wind existed, had an effect on the drone. I had a fun time moving it around the backyard but I did lose connection a couple of times and I was within 40 feet with direct line of sight (that was the deal breaker for me). I did capture some video and replayed it on our computer. The quality was sufficient and it was pretty neat to watch. The white blades quickly turned green at the edges from landing in the grass but it wiped right off so no problems.
For the $70 price it wasn't worth it to me. I ended up buying a VR70 from Wal-Mart for $150 (Black Friday was $100) and it is a far, far superior drone in size, ease of flying, quality, really just everything. That VR70 seems like a cheap knock-off of the very nice DJI 3, which costs about $500. The VR70 has an on-off button on the drone itself, can charge the battery still in the drone (drone has a DC plug-in for charging), one button launch and landing (so you hit the button and it comes on and just hovers automatically in the air) and is twice the size with twice the flying time of the F180C.
Great for a toy...

This is a really fun drone! The photo quality on it is not the best so if your looking to capture great flying FPV footage this not the drone for you, however if your looking for something to fly around your backyard this is it. Some side notes, 1. the batteries suck only a few minutes of enjoyable flight time, however if you upgrade the batteries you run the risk of adding too much weight and throwing everything out of balance. 2. This a toy first, high winds will throw this thing off it simply doesn't have the power necessary to fly in high wind. 3. The return home function has failed me multiple times, it just ends up flying off in the middle of the street some where.
Ups and Downs
June 11, 2016
This is a great starter drone, I found it pretty easy to get the hang of. A few Negatives though... When I got my drone out to test it out one of the propellers fell off so I put the backup one on, as soon as i tried to fly the drone it was lopsided on the replaces propeller side. One more thing I would change is the way you turn the drone on and off. The wiring is a little messy. On about the second week of flying the wiring slipped out and snapped from the blades of the propeller. Other than the few times it screwed up it flew amazing and flipped amazing for its size!
NIce little Quadcopter, but bad soldering connections!
July 5, 2015
The unit arrived on time and was exactly as described but after only 2 days the negative battery cable that connects to the battery to the main board on the Quadcopter broke off. (See attached photos) I quickly noticed that the main battery leads had NO strain relief, so every time the battery is connected and disconnected it caused a lot stress on the solder connection on the main board. Being a electronics technician myself I was able to re-solder the battery connections so they are now on top (and goes through the top of plastic cover, to provide some strain relief) of the the main board to get them out of the way and give the solder connection some strain relief! The Quadcopter is now once again operational, and working fine. I had thought about contacting the vendor about this problem but I figured that they would just simply send me another unit with the same problem. I do hope the vendor/manufacturer realizes this is a problem and does something to fix it! The easiest fix I could see if putting the battery cable on top and securing them with a tie or maybe glue.

Extremely short battery life. Huge disappointment in that aspect. Besides that...a decent drone. ...but again, the battery life is horrific.

not worth the money

If you are looking to get into actual drone piloting this is not what you want to start on! This is nothing more then a children's toy that handles nothing like an actual drone. It's also a necessity to fly this thing in a very open area like a field. It's handeling is to unpredictable to be flown around ANYTHING.

1 year after purchase, the motor stopped working, and mine did not do flips. Alright quadcopter, much much overpriced, Hubsan's are the same thing and are $20-$30 cheaper.

Not durable
May 3, 2016
The first one had one of the engines stop working after a few weeks of use and getting stuck in a tree. I bought a second one and it's working poorly in just a few days out of the box. The drone doesn't seem to be responding to the remote at an acceptable distance (50-100 feet). I will not be buying a third.

Out of he box it worked fine. Play it a few times next day. Still working. Following day, flashing lighhts. No longer syncing with remote. Tried reset & still flashing lights. Decided to to return.

Total disaster of a product. With so many great reviews I'm not sure if I just got a lemon. Headless mode didn't work well. Not the greatest gyro stabilization. Trying to adjust the trim was a nightmare. You have to land the drone every time you need to make adjustments. Also, when turning off the drone/changing batteries you'll need to reconfigure your trim adjustments again. The camera/video quality is terrible. I don't understand how they are calling this HD. Half the time when I was in flight and tried to take a picture or video it wouldn't work. Personally, I wasn't going for this drone for video or picture but more to learn flying a drone before I bought a very expensive one. However, I'm still very disappointed in the camera quality. Before I sent it back I did a test flight with my buddies drone and I feel confident the problem isn't with me, but with this drone.
Very disappointed

Highly disappointed only able to use one time before the remote will no longer respond to the Drone and did not crash at all. This was the big gift for my husband at Christmas.

I did a lot of research since this was my 1st attempt at flying quads. I bought this particular quad because most reviews said it was good for beginners and very durable. It also seemed like customer support from Holy Stone was very good. I got about 6 total minutes of flight time, had a few crashes on carpet and grass, then the quad shut down midflight. I changed out the batteries in the transmitter and the quad, but that didn't remedy the problem. The transmitter will not link up with the quad. I contacted Holy Stone and their "help" and their stand was that they haven't sold this model since August so they are unable to assist me with my problems with the quad. BUYER BEWARE! Due to my personal experience, Holy Stone customer support is not as good as it may seem in some reviews. This is still THEIR PRODUCT and they should be willing to step up and help a newcomer to the hobby!
Has never worked
November 9, 2016
This product has not worked properly one time. It was a birthday gift to my son, and a dud at that. We read the instructions on how to start it, and even right next to the drone, the controller does not connect properly and turn the lights solid confirming connection. Then, randomly, it would take off on its own, when he wasn't even near it. We have re-charged batteries, powered on and off, attempted indoors and outside, and even multiples days, and the outcome hasn't changed. Maybe we just got a dysfunctional one, but we are not pleased about this drone as it was a complete waste of money causing a bummer of a birthday.
Very disappointed- two broken quadcopters later and terrible customer service!
April 4, 2016
This was a great quadcopter. It really was. Until it randomly stopped getting lift. No crashes, no water, nothing evident to make it stop flying. So I bought another one, and that one eventually started doing the same thing, after only a couple months!

I emailed Holystone for help since I couldn't find anything online. What a disaster. Their customer service was shameful. They asked for pictures and videos of the issue, which I provided for both copters, and after about a week of going back and forth, (and translating plenty of broken english), they said they would give me 20% off my next one. Now keep in mind I had already spent over $120 on two of these and had them simply stop working. They didnt offer a replacement, even on one of them. They told me the warranty period had expired, clearly more than a few months of light use was too much to ask for. All that being said, I enjoyed it while it lasted, but that wasn't very long. I won't be buying from Holystone ever again.
Would not sync with remote.
March 24, 2016
Ordered 1st HS quad and it linked to remote once then quit. HS Sent another straight from China to us ( which too SEVERAL weeks) and that one did the same thing. Customer service was good but product was not. Sent them back and even though it was a return because the product didn't work, we had to pay a restocking fee and only got a partial refund. Never had an issue like this with Amazon before but don't think I should have to pay a restocking fee for items that do not work.
Great promise, but poor quality components only last for a flight or two
July 7, 2015
I was so excited to fly this new quad copter. The first battery that I put in didn't work (the red wire had come loose). After replacing the bad battery, the first flight was great...level and smooth. The LCD screen on the control panel is nice feedback to your trim, camera, and light settings, but it's cheaply made--but not a deal-breaker. Although shaky, the video and pictures were decent quality. The 2nd flight was ok, except that it would slowly spin in a circle. The headless return to flier mode is a cool idea, but it doesn't work at all. On the 3rd flight, it was completely unstable. On further inspection the right front motor won't start spinning until it hits 60% throttle, which completely destabilizes the quad copter. Most of the instructions are understandable, but a couple paragraphs are clearly an example of Google translate gone wrong. The video quad copter has great promise, but the batteries and motors are poor quality and didn't last more than a flight or two.
