Buy this for labels, stickers, shipping labels, barcodes, etc. Best Value. Works great. Super easy to use.
June 13, 2016
I don't know how I survived without this. The interface to print labels is so easy - it's basically a small powerpoint app that you add images, words, etc. to up to 3 ft long. Save the template for future uses. I use it to print shipping labels, address labels, cool stickers, name badges... basically anything with a 2" wide by 3' long space. Everything comes out crisp. Seriously, how did I survive without this. Works amazingly with a Mac. Program is so easy to use.
Easy to setup and use

These printers are on point. I have three of these, they are work horses. Easy to setup and use. Absolutely no problems with using them and quality of prints
GREAT for eBay!
November 26, 2013
Great for the money. PERFECT for printing labels via Ebay. The resolution on some addresses (which seem to print fairly small on ebay labels) seems like it could be better, but that would be my only "complaint". Unlike some other brands (which put in measures to make sure you can ONLY use their brand of label stock), this Brother unit lets you use generic label rolls, which saves a bundle. The generic rolls I bought from houselabels.com aren't quite as nice as the original Brother sample label role that came with the unit, but it's good enough.Anyway, if you're considering this for easily printing first class or priority mail labels via ebay, you won't be disappointed.

This label printer works PERFECTLY! It does not waste a lot of label (like some other cheaper printers). You can make labels less than a half inch long! It accepts a variety of labels/continuous tape available from brother. The software it comes with is very good in my opinion. You can include pictures (not the best quality though-its a label maker people!) include bar codes, it works VERY WELL with PayPal multi-order shipping (Use printer QL-550 in the settings), saving a LOT on half page label stickers for your regular printer. It has a small desk footprint. Everything I ever buy with the "Brother" name has been great! I can say nothing bad about the printer, it has been wonderful. I got mine on sale for something like $30, but I would pay full price for it!
Satisfied. Stamps.com Disappointed.
April 24, 2011
I read some reviews, and thought this printer would work with Stamps.com. It will, but only in batch mode print. I called Stamps.com to verify that it won't work with addressed mail. For example, I can't enter someone's address, specify first class and print their mailing label on this printer. That is what I wanted to do. Again, can't do!After I got over my initial disappointment, let me say that was my only disappointment! The printer set up easily, and has worked flawlessly. The software to design labels is easy and works well. For general labeling work, this printer is a winner! As an aside, I had never seen a thermal printer, and so some of my really dumb questions weren't answered in my research anywhere! So, for the one or two out there just as ill informed as me, here is a brief description of the functionality of these printers...The labels are on one long roll. There are no cartridges or replaceables other than the labels. Heat applied to the label makes visible your lettering. When the label is printed, a razor in the printer cuts off the label. (It is easy to ask for 10 or 20 labels, after which you will have a stack of labels in front of the printer.)The label roll that came with the printer didn't last too long. I also purchased labels from Eco-nomyLabel, the #DK2205 label, and it came with a larger supply of labels. (And, much cheaper!) [...] Brother labels come with a plastic roller and guides on the side that are not removable. You can't simply change the roll like toilet paper. You have to replace the entire roll and and roll holder (guides.) Annoying!!! The eco-nomylabel labels are just a roll, but their site tells you 4 or 5 ways to use them with the Brother roll holder. (I cut the plastic guide in two with a band saw, which worked wonderfully; I can replace the roll easily now, but still use the guides.)
10 years and 9 Brother label printers. Only brand that updates drivers and keeps making labels for discontinued products.
December 5, 2010
I'm an early adopter and started buying label printers as soon as they became available about 10 or more years ago, and my big beef is that none of the brands can use the others' labels. First out was the Smith Corona. Smith Corona didn't provide updated drivers for Windows XP so it became a piece of junk and they don't make them anymore, so they get negative 5 stars; I still have a box of the useless labels right here. Then I bought the Dymo. It was fine, but Dymo didn't provide updated drivers from Windows 95 to Windows XP so forget them, they get Zero stars. I own a QL-500 that is still in service after 7 years and uses the same old labels on Windows Vista [has manual cut - don't get it it's the same price], a QL-550 [previous version of auto-cut] and I just purchased my 3rd QL-570 - the price just dropped to $35 and I am really tempted to buy another one. They are so cheap at Amazon I just buy one for home and all of my offices. Over the years, Staples and Office Max have had incredible sales on the labels - last year I bought 6 boxes of standard labels at $2 each! They're thermal and don't rub off, and last for at least 7 years. For GTD (Getting Things Done) people - you just can't beat this. I also own a PT-2100 standalone, one PT-2430PC and two PT-1230PC - they all use the same TZ labels - huge consideration - the labels are more expensive but laminated for great durability and available in a wide variety of styles. I made a big mistake and threw away my ancient 10 year old brother P-Touch label maker thinking they stopped making the "M" series labels - but they sure still do! - Bottom line - Only Brother provides true legacy support and the most durable, reliable label makers I've owned.

Great for a home office
August 7, 2014
Easy to setup and use from either PC in our home office. instantly prints an address label, saves addresses. I wish you could put two different size labels in it. We use it to label file folders and mailing, but these are different sizes. Changing labels in the printer is not a problem.
Does not print wirelessly and takes a few tries to install for Mac 10.7.5
September 3, 2013
I was replacing my Dymo printer that I have had for years but it recently went on the fritz. It took me a few tries over 2 days to figure out how to install the software onto my computer. The disk that comes with the printer is for Macs on older operating systems. So, for newer operating systems, you have to download from the website, but it was trial and error which software to download. I finally figured it out and it prints well and cuts, which my Dymo printer did not do. Unfortunately, I did not notice that this machine is not wireless, so I need to wire in when I want to print my labels. Not a huge deal, but I would have liked to know that before purchasing the machine.
QL 570 Label Maker
December 16, 2011
I love this label maker should have bought one years ago and stopped messing around with printer labels; okay, I can be a slow learner. I gave this label maker a 4/5 because the labels themselves are not as easy to load as the videos would have you believe; at least not for me yet. Additionally, the software leaves some to be desired in terms of setting default labels and such; the font keeps defaulting to 22 or 24 and that is a pain until you figure out to use the layout style tools. It really is more difficult than it needs to be and that detracts somewhat from my scoring.Balancing this is the superb customer service I have received from Brother when I called to ask questions.Overall I can make file folder labels, mailing labels, file information labels (vital names, addresses, etc) and they look GREAT!
Works on Ubuntu w/ a bit of tweaking
December 1, 2010
This is an excellent printer for the price. It is zippy, and quiet.Installs quickly and easily on Windows XP and Vista, altho you have to reboot. I don't know why.Give Brother their props for making available Ubuntu and other Linux drivers. Having said that, drivers are not kept current, and some tweaking is necessary, but the details can be found on the Web. However, I am continually getting warnings from apt about the driver package missing some files, altho the drivers themselves continue to work flawlessly.I would advise Brother to maintain an apt repo and keep it current, or partner with the Linux community in some fashion for automatic installation, like HP printers. Really, its only a matter of packaging that could be handled on their end in a matter of minutes. So far, the printer has handled all the fonts and font sizes that I have thrown at it from Ubuntu. Some printers error out on certain fonts, not this one.The included editing software for Windows is adequate, if confusing. At least, I found it confusing, but after some messing around, I was able to figure it out. Main issues for me are selecting the proper paper size, and using the layouts. On Ubuntu, it works perfectly with Glables, altho orientation and again paper size were initially confusing. Glabels now has templates for various paper sizes on the QL-570, and I have greatly increased my utility of the printer by saving common addresses in my Dropbox, which serve both for quick printing, and templates for custom addresses.Works via Samba with no problems, either. So in terms of its actual utility, it is excellent! Quick, quiet printing and beautiful B/W labels of many sizes.
Love the Labeler; Software Needs Work
November 28, 2010
As a professional organizer, I love this labeler for generating file folder and hanging file labels. The labels are well-sized for folders and tabs (1/3 cut or 1/5 cut). They print quickly, cut cleanly, don't jam and are easy to change. These paper labels (which easily peel-off from the backing)are a less expensive option than using the plastic tapes (I also use both handheld and computer-attached P-touch labelers, and they are great for a small number of files, and wonderful for printing larger, colorful labels to identify bins and baskets). The software isn't as terrific. I often have to adjust sizes that should have stayed standardized, which can be frustrating and time-consuming. On the positive side, it is easy to do multiple lines and to vary type sizes within a label.I would recommend the QL-570 label printer, and have purchased it for clients.
Great label printer
September 2, 2010
In contrast to other reviewers I am using this for labelling products, safety reminder labels etc (i.e. not shipping labels). This printer is perfect for this task. I am using Brother DK-2212 Continuous Length Film Label Roll (2-3/7" Wide) with this printer, the film rolls are much more durable than paper rolls for labels that may be exposed to more demanding conditions (i.e. the general public). The printer prints pretty fast and auto cuts the labels by default. The P-touch software that comes with the printer is easy to use and is fairly straightforward. You can insert symbols (like arrows), graphics files (e.g. JPEGs), and even barcodes on labels. Although the printer method is thermal and the labels print black on white I have found that photos print acceptably in grayscale (although I find they look better when the resolution is set to 300dpi rather than the 600dpi).I do wish the film labels were cheaper but it is still worth it as saves me from having to manually laminate, apply glue & stick as I was doing with inkjet printed labels. Definitely Recommended.

so while I'm disappointed to be stuck with it

Haven't had the opportunity to use as my computer broke before I could. And it was post return possibility... so while I'm disappointed to be stuck with it, I have read good reviews for this little guy.
GOOD PRIONTER; BUT DIFFICULT TO INSTALL FOR WINDOWS X

Installation process is not easy; and getting life assistance takes a long, long time.
Not an Easy SetUp for Windows 8
April 5, 2014
This product is not easy to set up in Windows 8:1) The set-up disk does not contain a set-up for Windows 8. So don’t even bother because you’ll have to uninstall anyway. Before you start all these machinations, make sure you close all other applications.2) You have to get the Windows 8 software and printer drivers from Brother Solution Center. You have to know whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit.3) For some strange reason, Brother downloads ONLY work with Microsoft Explorer (ugh) and if you don’t use that browser to get the downloads, you’ll be asking for trouble.4) Make sure you download your printer drivers to a place you can find them. Otherwise, you won’t be able to open them and install them.5) Make sure your device is NOT connected when you’re doing the Windows 8 installation.6) After all the nonsense of downloading stuff, you will need to restart your computer.Once you’ve done all that, you can actually USE your device. It’s pretty slick except it’s a little difficult to know what kind of labels are installed, if you haven’t used this before. There’s a “Check Media” button that allows you to immediately know what you’ve got in the device. After that, it’s all pretty easy. The labels are nice and readable and it appears from the software there are a lot of options. I would have more to assess if it hadn't taken me TWO HOURS to figure out the problems with Windows 8. Brother really needs to update their installation CDs for this product for people who have Windows 8. Otherwise you need to be really aggressive in finding the solution to installation.
Would be GREAT if in Color
May 26, 2012
Nice printer but software is a lot to be desired. Wound be great if you coul print in color, the real down side is the software however. You have to click in two place just tomake it print!
Useless for mac/paypal shipping
July 14, 2011
This infernal little machine wasted several hours of my time while i coaxed, pleaded and eventually resorted to threats to try to get it to print postage labels correctly. Paypal shipping doesnt really support the printer despite some of the troubleshooting discussions i found online. Add running it on a mac and you are dead in the water. It would either print the label 1" wide , print a portion of it (despite the preview having it lined up correctly) or split the label into three portions causing me to seriously contemplate drop kicking it out of the window. Now i have a festive pile of half printed useless perforated sticker paper on my floor and a throbbing vein in my forehead from the intense hate-on i have for this whole ordeal. It's not the printers fault really, it seems like an okay label maker. I'll probably use it for overly fancy storage labels or something. Just do not bother with it if you are running a mac and ship through paypal. There might be a cheat to get it to work that i just didnt' find but honestly, i don't want to spend any more time trying to "trick" this into doing what it is supposed to do. I just got a basic toner -only Samsung laser printer which prints labels almost as fast as this thing and had it running and printing in 5 minutes. Boom! Done. The seller got this thing out to me quick though so kudos to them!
the labels are propietary of the brother company
February 15, 2011
I buy ten brother printers, model QL-570, this printer have a problem, the label came with them, are propietary, only brothers labels be used with this printers. They have a five sensors and have a combination for the label type. For my company have a problem because we use a labels make with us. This printers buy tow weeks ago, and I can't use this.In the amazon page, in any place say that this printers use only original labels.

Not sure it's worth the frustration
March 1, 2015
this thing is awesome fast. I really liked it until I ran through the sample roll.Changing rolls however is a real pain. I still haven't figured it out. And by haven't figured it out I mean, with the sample roll I was able to print usps postage with a little fiddling. But when that sample roll ran out, I could no longer print any postage. Given I bought this specifically to use for postage, I am very disappointed.
Doesnt' last long
May 20, 2014
Worked for a few months and then all of sudden just stopped working. Tried deleting off computer and reinstalled but no good, the unit just will not print anything. Was good while it lasted
July 3, 2011
I found this hard to use.........mainly need labels but the font was not easy to change and the labels were not maximzing the size of the tape......FRUSTRATING......should have bought a much simpler one!
Check it out completely
June 16, 2011
I purchase the Brother QL-570 Professional Label Printer in April of 2011. only used the large size labels. After 50 days when I switched over to the smaller label side, it did not work properly. Check out all it's features if you buy one.If both sides worked I would classify the QL-570 very highly. When I could have found out it was defective if I tested all features before hand... I am just suggesting for you to do so.
Good printer, bad customer service
March 1, 2011
I gave this printer a low review because of the poor customer service I received from Brother. I tried to install this on my Mac (since it's advertised to work on the mac) but the PTouch Editor 5.0 icon in my applications folder had a lock icon on it and wouldn't run. I wrote to customer service for help. In the help system it prompts you for some basic information including your operating system and I correctly entered the Mac 10.6 OS. TEN DAYS LATER, they sent me back directions for how to reinstall the program under Windows. Not particularly helpful and they win my worst customer service experience of 2011 award. If you use a Mac and you want to use the software that comes with the printer you need to be comfortable with fixing permissions at the terminal window. I wrote up what I figured out and posted it on my blog. if You search for - Brother Mac Permission Errors - you should find it.Too bad they skimped by outsourcing customer service to such a low quality firm, the printer itself has worked pretty well so far.
No Good On Linux
February 4, 2011
This label printer is terrible to work with if you are a Linux user. Brother usually has excellent Linux support, but they really dropped the ball with this one. The drivers are finicky and required me to hand edit files to get them to install. Even after that, I was never able to get it to print correctly. I returned exchanged it for a Dymo LabelWriter 450, which I highly recommend.

Do not buy this product as it is not supported with current OS systems. Another product destined for the landfill...
I bought this to use on my Mac for printing ...
January 3, 2015
I bought this to use on my Mac for printing contact labels. After wasting a day trying to set it up I found it would not print directly from the contact data base. Addresses had to be exported an then translated by numbers. I threw it away and bought a Dymo.
Less than worthless when used with a Mac
July 3, 2014
Key advertised features do not work with Mac OS. Were you hoping to make quick address labels from documents in MS Word like they do in the promo video? Sorry, not with your Mac. P-Touch software is non-intuitive and clumsy. Basic key shortcuts (undo, cut, paste) not supported. Constant error messages will tell you that you are using the wrong sized media. Phone support was useless. A terrific waste of time. Brother makes some good laser printers but this thing is garbage.
IT WILL NOT PRINT FOR ME
March 4, 2014
STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO PRINT LABEL. EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD BUT WHEN I PUSH PRINT THE REDLIGHT COMES ON NO MATTER WHAT I DO. VERY FRUSTRATING. STOPPED EVEN TRYING UNTIL AFTER TAX SEASON
What a disappointment.
June 28, 2012
My old labeler gave out and I purchased this one because I have had a great experience with Brother printers. I tried to set it up with my desktop Mac and it took forever to get the software installed. But that was only the beginning of the frustration. After spending almost two hours, I still was not able to print a simple address label the way I wanted. The choices are unbelievably confusing and even when you think you have it figured out, you don't get what you want. For example, I wanted to have the address text centered. I clicked on a box to do that but there was no where to save my choice so it was just ignored. My contacts showed up but were worthless because I couldn't figure out how to bring the contact information into a label. And when I manually added an address, I couldn't find a place to save it.With my old simple labeler, I maintained addresses I used regularly and easily found them for a label. I clicked on print and there it was. If I added a new address, I could easily print the label and save the address in a file. Nothing seemed easy with this Brother.I rarely return anything to Amazon, but this one goes back.

I have had a Brother QL-570 label printer for a number of years. If worked well for the most part. A couple of times I needed to call Brother’s support. Brother’s support is completely offshore from what I have been able to determine. When I have called I found it very difficult to understand the English the person was speaking. If I asked to be transferred to someone in North America I was told that it was not possible or they would just hang up on me. I made the upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7. When I went to use the software it would not print. I tried a number of things but could not get it to work. I call Brother Support and got someone who spoke English that I could understand although I would at times have to ask the person to repeat what they had said several times. After having me do a number of the troubleshooting tasks that I have already done I was told the printer was to old and stopped working. I would have to buy a new printer. The printer worked just fine until the change to Windows 10. I have not had any issues with any other programs after switching to Windows 10. I am beginning to like Windows 10 after using it for a while. I had told the person I was using Windows 10 and he said good. I went online and ordered a new Brother Label maker for over a 100 dollars even on Amazon. Today I took one more shot at trying to figure out the problem. I removed the Brother Software and drivers from my computer. I downloaded the new Windows 10 Software from the Brother site and installed it. The printer and software are now working without any issues. It’s to bad that Brother has such poor support. I saw that there is a download for a software manual on the website and tried to download it numerous time. Could not get it to work. Be very careful for when dealing with Brother their products work well when they install without any issues but their support is useless.
