Solid design, well built, holds a lot of Butane, I suggest using Puretane if your usung this for food. Puretane doesnt leave behind any residual flavors, a little more expensive but worth it.Sometimes i have to fire twice in order to get it to light, but once she goes she goes good, came out of the box on the lowest setting and had a good torch going, didnt even need to raise up at all to get it work for what I needed. For $35 this is a steal. Very happy with my purchase, will update if any problems are seen from weekly use over time.After some months of use to torch became very dangerous. On the lowest setting, the torch throws out a flame of a bout a foot and a half, and slowly burns out after I release the button. this torch has been fantastic so far. This is pretty big in your hand. I like the brand Newport. The forst torch I had was the Newport mini which was great except the trigger safety lock, and trigger was hard to push. I ordered it quite late at night, and yet I still received this within just a few days. I hardly felt like I waited for it at all. The torch itself is quite spectacular in terms of performance and visual appeal [frankly I am apprehensive about getting oily fingerprints on it, it is that nice]. If you have any reasoning for using/ purchasing a butane torch, I certainly suggest this one. The tank itself is about twice the size of a butane supply cartridge and the paper manual claims a burn time of 40 minutes. Most table-top torches (that I have used) burn out in about 20 uses of about 15-30 seconds of continuous flame; so I look forward to seeing how well this one works out over an extended period of frequent use! But in the two days I have had it, it works like the first time, every time! 5 stars. Great product, excellent packaging and service. I recommend you make this your selection. |

Not only because it's gold, but because it has the best reviews and it's big. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because a large portion of the gold is just plastic. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice if it had a bit more metal in its construction. That being said, I filled it up when it arrived, and it didn't light. I soon realized that the gas control knob was turned all the way down. Once I had things adjusted I fell in love with it. It sparks on the first try every time, the ignition button is very easy to use, the flame lock switch works fantastic. You can hold this at any angle during operation and the flame stays steady and consistent (EVEN UPSIDE-DOWN) Overall I am very pleased with this torch. And should it come down to it, I will certainly buy again. I recommend this for anyone who is looking for a nice sturdy hand held torch with adjustable and locking flame settings. We haven't figured out how to get the sugar right -we burn some but some doesn't carmelize. I wish there was a temperature or low med high setting. The push button is great and igniter is immediate. BUT, for people like me who are heating up thick guartz nails with it, the flame temp is too low to heat it up quick even when turned up high. Sigh... Live and learn. It's flame resembles a torch flame in only the loosest sense of the word. I planned to heat some small, mild steel bits, and bend/shape them with pliers. Pliers and a vise, were more effective. My advice, save $30 and buy a $5 refillable butane lighter. If it didn't have a locking switch, it would have gotten one star. For that, I had to acknowledge its slight worth. Locked on FLAME LOCKNovember 28, 2015 I was initially excited by the unique color (most come in silver) and the FLAME LOCK feature. Unfortunately, I am returning this because it was very hard to slide into FLAME LOCK while holding the other button to keep the flame going. | Very DissappointedMay 15, 2016 I received this kitchen torch for Christmas. For a multitude of reasons I did not get around to using it until this week. (May 13th) It does not work and I cannot contact the manufacturer for complaints. The ignitor button does not work at all. I can put a flame in front of the torch and get it to light. But as soon as I release the ignitor button, it goes out. The continuous flame lock lever does not work either. Where can I return this junk to get one that actually works????
