Granite Ware is Wonderful
August 16, 2017
I am very thankful that I bought this Granite Ware Covered Oval Pan. In a little over a month of owning this Granite Ware pan I have baked 3 roasts with potatoes and carrots. Since the water circulates from the lid back onto the food inside the pan, everything was moist & tasty.Other than this is a great pan to bake it, I love that it cleans up like a dream. I put this pan into my sink & fill it with hot soapy water & let it soak for an hour or two. I then wipe it out & wash it. It is always spotless.
Just a little bigger.

I love Granite Ware. The porcelain coating insures easy clean up and is very durable. This replaces my 13 inch, Granite Ware roaster. (No nothing wrong with it, still cooks like new.) I needed something a little bigger and the smaller one was just too small for a broiler chicken, or a large pork roast. The 15 inch, in perfect for just myself, or even a small family. P.S., don't forget to order the 2006-8 roaster rack. This roaster, does not come with a rack.
Fit a 20lb bird in the 18 inch pan.

Great roasting pan for the price. I was able to fit a 20lb turkey along with the innards (snugly) in the pan without the lid on and still had enough room to get a baster in to gather the juices under the bird. When not in use, the pan fits neatly into your cupboard and to save a little more room, I store it with the lid upside down so I can stack other things on top of it.I've had no problems using this in the oven with temperatures up to 450 F and have had no issues with things sticking or burning. The pan is fairly lightweight, so there is no real additional weight added to your roast when you're trying to pull it out of the oven. Overall I am very happy with this 18 inch roasting pan and would recommend it to anybody looking for one at a great price.
Nice, sturdy pan

I have used it many times. I originally bought it to cook a small turkey for last Thanksgiving dinner. It turned out that I didn't use it. I have used it many times since when preparing corned beef and cabbage. It's the perfect size!
Keeps my oven clean and my food yummy

Great Roaster. I love roasting pans, because they cook up everything good, and don't get my oven messy. I've been using these for years, and the inside of my oven is almost new condition. 15 inches is from tip to tip, so the actual inside of the pan is somewhat smaller. I always coat the inside with oil, so my food doesn't stick. Easy to clean by letting it soak in hot soapy water for awhile. Use it for chicken, fish, steak, meat loaf, potatoes and vegetables ....
Quality, Economical, Small Covered Roasting Pan
March 15, 2015
I LOVE this 15" roaster, though that measurement is taken from outside handle to outside handle, which is ridiculous, since that is not usable area for cooking. I was happy to see that it's made in the USA.I used mine for the first time this afternoon. I cooked a 6 lb. oven-stuffer roaster chicken with 4 quartered onions and 5 cut-up carrots, and it was pretty much at capacity (with the vegetables). I think the claim of it holding a 10-12 pound turkey, even leaving out the veggies, is a bit enthusiastic, but I didn't buy it for that, so it suited my purpose perfectly. The pan conducted heat very evenly, the chicken was nicely browned, and it didn't stick to the pan. It was very easy to clean afterward using a Brillo pad.At less than $10, free shipping, and 2-day delivery, I can say that I am very happy with my purchase.

Lots of pit marks after only one use.
May 18, 2017
Roaster came packaged well and arrived in a timely manner. When I used it for the first time I accidently burned some vegetables and it was very hard to remove the burned spot. I also noticed the a spot I was scrubbing was actually where it was pitted. I looked the pan over from top to bottom and found many places where there were chips in the enamel. And this was after using it only one time. Disappointed.
Tried and true product
January 20, 2017
I like this tried and true product. I have had a 13 inch for a long time.I need a 16 inch now, to fit my small oven. This is just an inch too small for my purposes. I want to do a small 10 - 11 lb turkey. It is big enough to do a roaster chicken in.
Solid roasting pan for the money
January 17, 2017
Great roasting pan, just like the one my parents used to have! We've used it with a 15lb bird, which just about maxed out the pan. The lid is a little bit wonky and doesn't sit perfectly on the pan, but nothing that would really effect cooking.
great roasting pan - non stick without the coatings, easy clean up too...
December 19, 2014
got this to replace my turkey pan that started flaking. granite ware has been around forever and this looks like a keeper. the turkey came out perfect... I did get a oval rack which wasn't very high off the bottom of the roaster to keep the bird off the bottom. looks cool, didn't use the lid but it's great to have and it self stores upside down for more compact storage. you could use the lid as a pan so long as you position the handle portion between the rack wires. Also you need to have a place to put it down with the handle sticking down. just saying it's possible if you're short on pans.
Best way to roast a bird
November 29, 2013
I was able to fit a 14 pound turkey In it, but the lid would not fit over the bird! It needed to be higher domed. It's a rather flat lid. I had to use heavy duty aluminum foil to cover the bird. I tucked the foil under the rim of pan to form a tight seal to mimic having the lid on it. Other than that flaw, the bird turned out beautifully. I also used it to roast a 4.5 pound whole chicken, the lid fit, and it turned out yummy. Both were moist and fork tender. Used the slow roasting method on both. 475* uncovered for 20 minutes, then 250* covered for rest of cook time (based on 20 minutes / pound). I recommend this roaster. Mine was made in the USA.
What I was expecting
March 4, 2013
I am pleased with this roaster as it is exactly what I was needing. I have as of yet not used the item as the dinner I'd expected to use it for had to be cancelled. The delivery time was excellent. The roaster did have damaged areas that were bent and the coating was broken off on those areas. However, I believe that may have happened during delivery, I don't know. I'm hoping it does not develop a rust issue, who knows. But I'll be keeping it as the size is absolutely perfect for that medium to large roast needed to feed at least 5-7 people.

It was a gift so not sure how big it was. Wanted a LARGE pan but if anything like the granite ware 0517 covered round roaster pan too small.
Small birds if you want to cover
November 29, 2016
Quality if fine, it is what it says it is...But, if you want to roast a turkey and put the cover on, it's too small. This year we had a small 13lb turkey and the lid was off the turkey about 1 inch. It'll hold larger turkeys and we've done larger, but the lid won't fit.I must add, I'm not much of a turkey chef, so maybe the lid is not really used, but seems to me that would be a good thing to do. Where the lid touched the bird, it pulled off the skin about 1/2 way through the cooking.Birds done in this have turned out well. Just wish the lid was another 2 or 3 inches taller. That sure seems like a big pan...
Better than a disposable pan
November 24, 2016
ok this is a good roaster as with disposables it is difficult to lift it without spilling anything. this you do not have to worry about. and will just pop in the oven and you can move it way easier than the disposables. this can fit a 10-12 lb. turkey with the lid. and up to about 14-15 lb. without the lid. cooks great. the reason for not a 5 star is that lid will not exactly fit for poultry over 12 lb. so if you are on a budget and the only other option would be to get the disposable pans then this is it.
These used to be better made!
April 12, 2015
This is much more flimsy than these roasters used to be. The top does not nest as well in the pan so it is hard to keep the cover in place. Part of it always wants to get into the roaster with the food, rather than sitting easily in a track at the top of the roaster pan.Still, it does the job even though it is obviously not as well made and as sturdy as the old models. . I have used this roaster for chickens, roasts and stews and if you take the time to get the top situated on the pan correctly, this works as well as my old one. I got a roaster like this when i got married in 1972. It worked perfectly but had to be discarded when the enamel was chipped off.
Step above disposable pans
January 11, 2015
Purchased the 15" version. Thought the top was the wrong size because it does not fit snuggly. You have to shift it a bit to make it sealed. That's not cool. Should easily go on the top; seal automatically. The metal is thin, but I wasn't expecting a heavy-duty pot for this price. Just looking for a step above $2 foil pans. This fits the bill. Using to bake chicken. Needed a pan where the top can go in the oven as well.
A bit thin
March 2, 2014
I bought this because I lost the one I inherited from my grandmother in a move and wanted to replace it. I bought this one and the 15-Inch and the same comments go for both. While these look the same as grandma's, these are at least half as thick/heavy as hers. One was delivered with a bent handle. I was disappointed to see how easily I could bend its thin metal back with my bare hands so it probably happened in shipping. The other's bottom is bent upwards and though it can be pushed back down, it pops back up if not immediately then when it is heated. So to be sure a roast is not lying in drippings or fluids, I have to use a rack and cannot rely on the embossed trough meant to drain/pool those away from the meat.None of this seem to affect how well they work and so I keep them just to remind me of how much I miss Grandma and her roaster.

At first I thought I would like it. I have only used it a few times and the lid chipped and rusted. Additionally, I found rust in areas not chipped. I am very much unsatisfied with this product. I think I will see I can find one at a thrift store.I highly recommend avoiding this product...
Easy way to cut someone hands up
December 6, 2016
Roaster came with the lid edges as sharp as a razor. Easy way to cut someone hands up. I would not recommend this to anyone. Not only were the edges of the lid extremely sharp but the handle had a very sharp edge on the underside. Not a good product.

The problem was we put a 15' turkey I the pan and the top didn't fit. Good thing we had a Turkey Bag to use as the lid was too short in height. It fits the length was fine it height of the lid that was the problem. I expressed this overnight to make sure I had it in time only to find out it I couldn't use the lid.

October 3, 2016
What a disappointment to discover that one handle of the roaster is missing some enamel, exposing bare meta. The reason that I ordered this item is that I have one exactly like it that was damaged when put through a commercial dish washer at church, gouging significant small areas of enamel, leaving rough exposed metal....that will likely rust over time.! Please advise. Thank you.
FACTORY FLAWED
November 22, 2014
Arrived with factory defect of large scraped area without enamel coating. Concerned because from past years of using this type of roasters I've learned that non-enameled areas deteriorate the roaster. Won't mess with the hassle of return but will definitely purchase only after actually seeing the roaster next time. After using this for the Thanksgiving turkey, I further discovered a flaw on the inside baking area where the coating did not cover correctly. Definitely downgrading the star rating!

NOT your mother's Granite Ware
June 28, 2016
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!! This NEW Granite Ware 19" Covered Oval Roasting pan is very poor quality. There is a 2 inch area of the rim of the pan where the enamel has been scraped off, as well as 9 separate divots missing the enamel in the bottom of the pan, where the food would rest. Expected MUCH higher quality for this pan from Granite Ware. Have had others well over 40 years with no such flaking of the enamel, so wonder what gives here. What a hassle to have to return this. I expected much more from a Granite Ware product that was supposedly made in the USA.
Poorly made in the USA
November 14, 2015
Like some other reviewers have mentioned, mine also arrived with a big chip on the inside of the lid. The cellophane wrapping around the product is still intact and the chipped area was right underneath that cellophane wrapping so looks like it was already defective straight from the factory. I purchased this roaster for two reasons: it was made in the USA and the price was very reasonable. The product indeed has Made In The USA imprinted on the bottom of the pan and now I understand why it doesn't cost a lot considering products that are made in the States tend to be on the pricier side. This roaster is too lightweight for its size and is very cheaply made - I've had better pots and pans that were made in China. I didn't need to open the cellophane wrapping to see if the pot is chipped in any other place. If the porcelain coating is already that flimsy from handling, I can't imagine how it's going to last from normal usage. Needless to say, I returned it without hesitation.
Two swings, two strikes, it's outa here.

I thought this would be a nice little addition to the kitchen, however when it arrived it had a dent/finish blemish. No problem, contacted Amazon and returned for a replacement. Easy enough. When the replacement arrived, it too had the same type of defect. I know it is an inexpensive item and has fairly thin metalbut I would hope that it would at least arrive in good condition and let me be the one to bang it up.Neither box had any damage which indicates that the defects came from the factory. Can you say quality control????

Terrible product. Had to return 2 of them as they were pitted so badly you could see the raw material underneath. Glad I examined them first!
