Since I live with my daughter, She always discouraged my purchasing it since we have so many commodities in our kitchen and she said it was unnecessary. Never insisted. But when I saw yours online ,I said I;m buying even if I make crème brulee once a year. It's my favorite dessert!It came the other day and I used it immediately. It was very easy to use. instructions were clear to follow, and worked so well on the crème brulee I had prepared in anticipation.Thank you very much. I love it Vilma Gallo 100% happy August 3, 2015 Awesome! It works great. Very easy to use. I don't use it professionally, for now I use it to roast marshmallows on a skewer while I watch TV. It has a lock on the top left to keep you from accidental firing. There is a gas selector knob on the top back which you don't need turned up very high to get a great flame and the spark igniter button is easy to push like a trigger. It also comes with a small base stand for when not in use. I definitely recommend this product if you like easy fire. Great torch at the price for a lot of food things not Creme Brulee related. July 17, 2015 I just got into Sous Vide cooking and went on the hunt for a torch that I could use in my kitchen after cooking some food that needed some brazing to make it look properly presentable on the kitchen table. This torch really goes beyond my expectations, it's incredibly powerful and I did hamburgers for my first sous vide meal and typical of cooking hamburgers the first couple of patties I really burned them to a crisp. At a certain point people were waiting with plates and I was just frying hamburgers and threatening to light their paper plates on fire if they got too close.After getting the hang of moving this torch properly so as not to 'ignite' the meat as people don't seem to be into that, this butane torch really does a fantastic job for the price. The instructions don't mention it but I use a high quality butane that is triple filtered, sadly the easiest and quickest access to triple+ filtered butane is from your local smoke shop. But I did try this with normal grocery store butane and some people complained of being able to taste the gas which I couldn't discount altogether, after a few refills of the higher quality butane nobody has since complained about an off putting taste. Then again those that complained haven't gotten a second invite for free food... SO impressed by this little thing! July 7, 2015 Holy cow! We have been so excited to use this little torch. It works perfectly, and doesn't shut off until you turn it off. Very reliable, and we are very happy about this purchase. Creme brûlée at home. The best!! Loved the torch. February 22, 2015 Loved it. Finally made home made creme brulee and it was the best! No more expensive deserts buying it a restaurant. I've been wanting to buy one of these kitchen torches for years and finally did it for Valentines creme brûlée at home. I have not tried any others, I bought this as a result of reading the other reviews on Amazon. It was so great. The torch worked beautifully. I literally took it out of the box, filled it was butane that I bought at the drug store and starting browning the sugar on the creme brûlée in a total of about 2 minutes time. Very easy to use. Loved the ability to turn down or crank up the flame. It felt very comfortable in the hand. It worked perfectly. I'm not a professional chef, just a mom and wife who loves to cook and as I've gained experience I've tried more 'difficult' things. Creme brûlée was a little intimidating, don't know why, it was a breeze. So glad I made this inexpensive torch purchase. One dinner out with creme bruele as the desert would have cost me AT LEAST twice the cost of this torch. Not just for Creme Brûlée! January 28, 2015 This is a terrific butane torch. I've owned 2 other torches; the quality of those didn't even come close to that of the Vie De Chef torch. Besides being solidly built and comfortable to use, the flame regulator feature is fantastic! Besides Creme Brûlée, I've used it to blacken the skins of red peppers, crisp bacon wrapped scallops and to sear beef before popping it in the oven. | 66% Better Torch for Less Money - Good Company Follow-up September 7, 2015 I ordered another competitors torch first. It didn’t work properly. I tried to go to the manufacturer and all they said was send it back to Amazon. This company on the other hand did wonderful. Not only was this torch less money and better designed, it worked great. In addition, as soon as I had it the company contacted me to see if I liked it. They cared. I can recommend this torch completely and I use it for certain dishes after cooking them Sous Vide. AWESOME August 9, 2015 I used my Ever Chef Torch for the first time tonight. Made Mexican Ice Cream. It was awesome and so easy. The torch is so much easier to use than the oven. And also fun. Wouldn't all my grandchildren love to see this. Maybe next time. I found plenty of recipes on line and adapted them to what I thought would work. Everyone loved it. I would recommend this torch wholeheartedly. My next project this week will be to make carmelized onions. Also, never again will I have to toast nuts, etc. for baking and cooking. The torch will be much easier. For 30$ it has more features the my old one. It also feels much more solid. I got the zippo butane to go with it, filled it up per the instructions and it fired right up. Nice even and consistent heat.I will probably be giving one or more as a gift later this year. I had a few questions for the seller which were answered promptly and packaging was solid. Best Torch I've Ever Used June 27, 2015 Ever Chef Culinary Torch is easy to operate, and the gas is available from most supermarkets. The flame is strong and consistent. Filling with butane is very straightforward. Not only great in the kitchen but also for lighting fires and searing meat. In fact, it's pretty useful anywhere and it's way better than using matches anymore! Overall very happy with the result. Very easy to use. Now I enjoy making beautiful desserts all the time! I however order it to use as a tech torch. The flame is too massive for this kind of use if you are needing a fine flame torch. Even at the lowest setting it blows out a pretty massive flame. I returned it and was issued a refund immediate. Superb customer service from the company The torch is easy to use and adjust August 22, 2016 I bought this torch as a compliment to my recent purchase of a water circulator sous vide set up for my home.Last night came the real test. A steak dinner!The torch is easy to use and adjust. It created the perfect finish on the sear on the steaks.The torch isn't fancy. It is a kitchen utility. You can spend more for one, but, this one will be a party of my kitchen arsenal for a long time. Desserts, sous vide, spiders, it's good for all. Super easy to use April 9, 2016 Super easy to use. Strong piezoelectricity for ignition- this baby EATS butane though. The small internal canister for keeping butane isn't large enough to keep this going for very long.Whether you're using the torch for cooking, housework, medicinal purposes, or something else that requires a torch, this torch is best served for one or two item uses.If you're using this to flambé or to crust or melt- it'll work. NICE TORCH-READ HERE FOR HOW TO USE... September 6, 2015 I accidentally bought two of these, so I will do a bit of comparing. First of all, I found this one superior to the other. No good directions on how to use, so let me explain after much research. First if all, use the proper butane, made for cooking torches and not for lighters. Secondly, turn the torch upside down and press the butane filler for about 10-15 seconds or until you see it bubbling around the inlet. Let it sit for a minute before you light it. To light this torch, push the safety button (on side of barrel) downward. Then turn the gas knob on the back counterclockwise until you hear a hissing noise. The trigger in the front is the igniter. You can adjust the flame or turn off the torch using the back knob. I really liked this torch. Just needs better directions. I do like it and having fun July 28, 2015 I do like this torch and am sure once I use it more I will learn to love it. I took the suggestions that many before this post and ordered the Sun brand butane but it did not have the correct nozzle to use with this torch. You need to have the butane that fits lighters, it will have a white tip for it to work. I am looking forward to using it more, I did use it last night to make s'mores and it did a good job, after I adjusted the flame. lol I think that I will enjoy it more, like I said when I find more reasons for it. My 17 year old son said he couldn't wait to use it....had to put my foot down hard on that one, I could see my furniture, floors and everything else that I hold dear being singed. Will post again when I have more experience with this torch..looking forward to it Great product, minor gripe July 6, 2015 This is a great torch and lasts a long time. My only concern with it is the lack of a definite off switch. The On/Off switch is really an Unlock/Lock switch for the trigger, still letting the gas flow through if the gas is turned. Sometimes it gets very loud in the kitchen and having no real way of knowing if it's off or not, there could be a serious hazard. I purchased the item and set it aside for use on dessert at party I hosted last night. When I opened the device to crisp up the top of my dessert, I discovered the torch had no fuel. I had to run to the store in my middle of my party. The device looks like it houses a canister already. Good torch August 3, 2015 Works good, once I figured out the different knobs and levers. Makes the product seem safer and it is less hassle than needing a match/lighter. I would not buy this product again, but I will use it while it lasts.
