This toy is amazing, and absolutely worth the cost
September 10, 2017
This toy is amazing, and absolutely worth the cost.My cat did not care at ALL about any toys before this one. We thought she was the laziest cat in the world since she showed no interest in anything aside from food. Finally, we discovered the only thing she enthusiastically played with was a piece of elastic we had laying around. It was only about 5 inches long - so not the most convenient thing to use as a toy - especially when she got enthusiastic about it. We realized that her "thing" was string. So we bought this toy for less than $3 which is essentially a 4 foot long stretchy fleece-like fabric string on a stick. She LOVES it, and finally we're able to engage her consistently and immediately. She's happier, more energetic, and loves "hunting" the moving string. The length also makes it super easy for us to use and manipulate. It's quite literally the ONLY toy she plays with and she loves grabbing it, biting it, and being rough with it. And it's still completely in one piece with little damage. Good quality! Will definitely buy another when she manages to actually destroy it.
And old favorite that pepped up my old cat
March 6, 2017
I bought this when we were having some problems introducing a new, young cat to our older cat. I bought a Cat Dancer back when our older cat was a kitten and remembered how he used to practically soar through the air playing with this thing. I figured if he liked it so much maybe our new cat would like it, too. Surprisingly, our 16-year-old cat STILL LOVES playing with this! I couldn't believe it. He hasn't played with toys in years and years. I feel kinda guilty not having this toy around all this time. It's so fun to see his old kitten side emerge again. He doesn't play with it as long or quite as gymnastically ;) but he plays and it's a joy to see.
Great toy but my cat is scared of it now
March 1, 2017
My cat loved this toy for the first few days. He is only 2 but was acting like a kitten again when we started playing with this. Then one day my boyfriend was twirling this around to get my cat to play with it and accidentally hit my cat's eye, and he promptly ran away and hid. Now, whenever I pull this toy out, he will play with it for 2.2 seconds and then runs and hides in his "fort", every single time. So, he's basically conditioned himself to fear this toy which sucks, because he really liked it at first!I do recommend this toy, it's made well and the cloth strip is really long, just make sure you don't hit your cat in the eye with it!*Disclaimer: my cat and his eye are doing well*
THIS IS THE TOY MOST ALL CAT PERSONALITIES LOVE
June 15, 2016
A TOY MOST ALL CAT PERSONALITIES LOVE! If your cat loves to play, you cannot go wrong with this toy!I have purchased several of these over the past few years and my cats continuously play with them! I have four inside cats and they absolutely love their "Dancing" toy. This is one toy that they have actually played with for over 3 years now and still love. One cat runs and jumps on her condo to try to catch in the air, while others will jump up to catch and/or attacks it while I drag on the floor.it is important to play with your cats to bond better with them, among other reasons, my cats also play with these without any encouragement. I will sometimes come home, or wake up and find they have been dragged out of their toy basket into different rooms of the house. Sometimes my youngest will even bring one to me with her little "meow" to play with her.I have had no issues with the quality of these from either of the sellers I have purchased from, they have all been excellent quality and the same material. I HIGHLY recommend for kitties of ALL ages - AND highly recommend to have at least one for each cat!
My kittens love it
October 26, 2013
My kittens are just crazy about it every night. Light in weight and nice color for photo taking as well.
simple things are best
December 6, 2011
when I took this out of the packaging, I was very skeptical of its entertainment value...simply a long piece of wildly colored fleece material held onto a plastic rod by an end cap made out of yet more plastic. Having just purchased some pretty sophisticated cat toys, (peek-a-boo box, crazy panic undercover mouse, crinkle tunnel, laser toys), I thought this cat charmer would fall by the wayside. Not so. As I removed it from the packaging, my two 3 month old kittens materialized out of nowhere, two pairs of eyes wide as saucers staring the toy down, little bodies tense and trembling with barely contained excitement as they waited for it to do something...then when I moved it around a bit, there was such an explosion of ferocious energy as they tried to snare it in their paws, teeth, and wrestle it to the floor...even if it is just lying around, one of them will drag it while the other pounces on its sinuously trailing ribbon. It has remained their favorite toy, whenever I move it, they are totally there to pick up the game with the same degree of intensity as the last time I had it out. If you only buy one toy for your cat, it should be this one, and don't be surprised when this simple little thing becomes your pet's favorite!

Unleash your cats inner jungle cat
August 13, 2017
This toy is surprisingly long compared to some of the other wand toys we have for our cats. My two year old cat is terrified of it. He was an outdoor cat for the first three months before we found him, and we have a theory that something happened to him involving a snake. He loves all our other wand toys, but bring this one out and he runs for the hills. Our kitten loves it. Her inner huntress comes out and she goes wild. The longer length means that she runs all over the place chasing after it. It's a perfect toy for her.
Even better than expected!
June 18, 2017
This is great! The wand itself is way longer than any of the other toys I've tried, and I really appreciate that when I've got a cat who sometimes goes for my hands instead of the toy, haha. The strip of fleece is also really really long, and while that can make it a bit difficult to move it quickly, the long wand portion does help account for that somewhat.
Great for tiring out your cat
April 18, 2017
My cat went crazy for this right out of the package. My only complaint is that it's a little too long. Once your cat catches it, it's impossible to pull it away without it feeling like it's going to break away from the stick. Overall, pleased with purchase.
Why do cats love this thing so much??
November 12, 2016
I had seen tons of reviews on this and knew I had to get one for my new kitten. Just as expected, it was a hit with my kitty. I'm not sure what makes it such a hit, but cats just love this thing. The only negative is that the string came detached from the stick pretty quickly. I might try to reattach it to the stick once I find it (I just discovered the ribbon on the floor today without the stick). Considering this is just a plastic stick with a piece of flannel string material attached to the end, I expect that it will do it's only job of staying together. Other than that, this is a must-have for any cat owner!
Great as long as you pay attention
August 20, 2015
Any cat that likes wands/teasers is going to like this. It has a basic, but sturdy construction made up of a generously long, skinny, plastic "handle" which is durable (I stepped on it by accident and it didn't break) and is not hollow. The handle reminds me of a skinnier, more flexible version of that clear thing on blinds that lets you adjust how open there are. The flicky part is made of a very long (maybe three feet) of stretch fuzzy material. It reminds me of jersey sheets, only fuzzier, really like fleece. My kitten is a little over five months and he absolutely LOVES this toy. I enjoy how he runs and jumps to catch it and then is tired out and will go to sleep at bedtime. So, why then only four stars? This toy must be heavily supervised because it easily wraps around paws, tails and their necks. I will have to stop to untangle my kitten because I'm afraid he will be strangled. I know this makes the toy sound really awful, but as long as you're watching as you play with them and stop when they get tangled, it should be completely fine. It's long enough to protect your hands and it wiggles in nice, attractive patterns for cats/kittens. It also knots up a bit, but it's easy to unknot after you're done playing with it.
Its not the laser pointer, but its still a hit!
June 22, 2015
This will keep my young male cat busy for a good while. I keep it in a drawer, and when he sees me reach towards that drawer to take it out, he squeals with excitement, and starts jumping up and down. Wet food is the only other thing that gets him this excited. I think he enjoyed it more, back when he was under 10 months, but he still enjoys chasing it around a bit, and will jump up to swing at it when I hold it over him. Every time he catches it, he tries to do an "alligator death roll," which gets him all tangled, like with yarn. After three or four mins, he tends to get tired of chasing it, so I just let him play with it, and then I'll grab it again a few minutes later and we repeat the game.I do wish it was a *little* bit shorter, for when I get him to jump for it, but that is a minor quip. Some people have complained that the fleece string will break eventually, but I've had it for nearly a year and it is still holding up perfectly. Of course, I don't leave it lying around for him to play with all day long. I put it away, so he's always happy every time I break it out. Another reviewer mentioned that this toy could be a choking hazard. I could certainly see that, which is also why I put it away. I try not to leave him unattended with it for too long. When I do leave him alone with it for a few minutes, I'll see him walk by, totally twisted up in the string, with the stick dragging behind. This has never seemed to stress him out, and I simply unwind him, and we play with it again!

I wouldnt pay too much for this item
June 21, 2017
its okay, basically stick is fragile clear plastic and string is a strip of fleece. Cat liked it but doesn't seem very durable. For the price it does its job.
Fun but not safe
May 6, 2017
This really is an awesome cat toy, but not very safe. My 1 year old Siberian loves playing with this, but was able to bite off about a 6 inch long piece and ate it... luckily he got sick and was okay after that but I was surprised how easily the piece just ripped off (I didn't have time to stop him from eating it) Definitely don't leave it where the cat can access it alone and be careful if your cat is an intense player!
Our cat usually loves "stick toys" as we call them ...
April 22, 2017
Our cat usually loves "stick toys" as we call them, but she is not a fan of this one. The stick itself is normal size but the fabric is extremely long and I think its a little intimidating to her. We are going to try cutting the fabric to a shorter length to see if that helps!
Cat loves it, but pretty flimsy
January 7, 2017
Wow, my cat loves this toy. He isn't really fond of toy mice or balls but for some reason this really catches his eye. The stretchy-ness of the string itself really ads some fun when playing with you cat as well as I often find myself playing "tug-of-war" with my cat. My only complaint would be the flimsy plastic stick it comes attached to. First of all, the string itself is attached to the stick and came apart almost instantly. After I put it back together (with healthy amount of hot glue). Second, just a few days after having it, the plastic snapped in half. However, I still play with my cat with toy because he does seem to love it so much.
cheap raw materials=high-profit-margin cat toy -- fun for some cats, not for others
August 13, 2014
Be aware that this is essentially 8 cents worth of plastic rod with 4 cents worth of rubber attaching 2 cents of a stretchy fleece strip to the plastic rod. As such, it is ridiculously overpriced and the profit margin on such a cheap-to-manufacture product must be gargantuan. I don't mean that it is cheaply *made*; it has held together well. But it is made of such cheap *raw materials*, that the price is basically insulting.Due to the nature of polyester fleece, the fleece strip will stretch to 3-4 times its original length the first time you play with your cat with it. After that, it does not shrink back. The end result is a toy where the "toy" end is 5-6 times the length of the "handle."That being said, my little fat cat loves to play with it. If I swish it along the floor, or in the air, he gets quite excited by this and wants to pounce on it. However, my little old man cat is not that interested. They both go nuts for the OTHER Cat Dancer, which is basically a piano wire with cardboard thingies that jiggle and entice the cats (also cheap material and overpriced, but lots less than this one). But only fatty loves this toy. It does get him moving, though, which is the point. The bad thing is he likes it so much, that when I put it away when we're done playing with it, he likes to "hunt" for it and take it down. I've caught him twice, carrying it around by the fleece. I have to keep it on top of the refrigerator now -- which has no other tall or near-tall objects on it -- so he can't get up there and get it himself. He's already gotten it down twice from the tops of medium height book cases. I'd be afraid of him swallowing the fleece or eating it, if he plays with it unsupervised. Probably a storage ottoman or drawer that he can't open would be a better place to hide it when we're not using it. for now, the top of the fridge will have to do.
Not one of my cats' favorite toys
December 22, 2012
My cats love Da Bird Cat Toy - Easy Store - 2 Part Pole, but there was an incident where one of my cats got the string wrapped around her leg. She flew all over the house in a panic until she could finally be untangled. They absolutely love Da Bird, so I wanted to get something similar that would be less likely to cause a repeat episode. Unfortunately, they just aren't as enthralled by the Cat Dancer as they are with Da Bird. I assume that it may have something to do with the way the feather on Da Bird bounces around like prey. The Cat Dancer only keeps their attention for a few minutes before they get bored. It's so inexpensive, and obviously lots of other reviews here attest to this toys' positive qualities, so I assume cats are more likely to enjoy this to than not.

scaredy-cat keeps her distance - runs away instead of runs to; no charm there
August 26, 2017
My kitty is a scaredy-cat on many things like this but I wanted to give it a try. It does get her attention, so I gave it 2 stars. She runs away from it, though, and hides from it. I doubt her feelings towards it will change in the future but I'll try it some more. The only toys she has ever really responded to are the plastic rings that are on the gallon jugs for milk or juice.I can't rate the long-term durability of this product, but it appears well constructed so far. I wasn't worried about my kitty choking on it (especially when she won't approach it!). HA
Cats will chew on this toy...buyer beware
March 13, 2017
I have four cats, a mama cat and her 3 kittens who are now fully grown cats. The mama cat is isolated because she carries the FIV virus and loves playing with the wand. Accompanying my order, I received an e-mail from the company warning against using the wand as a chew toy. They claim the materials are safe but other posted reviews indicated cats have been harmed using this toy. Your cat will use this as a chew toy. Hopefully the dyes, chemicals and materials used in the wand are not harmful to your pet. If you buy the product, you should roll up the wand and keep it out of your cats reach, they will eat it.
I have 3 cats and the usually love dangly objects
February 12, 2016
The product itself I did not have a problem with. I have 3 cats and the usually love dangly objects. But for some reason, my kitten was petrified of it and the older 2 cats were not interested. Its not a very long string that comes off the wand so I had to get pretty close to wave it around in front of them, whereas other products similar to this have longer handles and longer strings with maybe some attachments such as feathers. Disappointed that my cats couldn't have more fun with this.
Barely okay, but wouldn't recommend it
January 6, 2016
It's barely okay, but more what I'd expect to pay a dollar for at one of the discount shops. The picture makes it look like a tube of fabric, instead it's a thin strip of stretchy fuzzy craft fabric with a small amount of stitching on each side. Too lightweight to flip around well and tears easily. I certainly wouldn't leave it alone with my cat since he could chew right through it, being such a thin strip of fabric. If I'd realized it wasn't an enclosed tube of fabric, I wouldn't have purchased it.
its easy to use and safe as far as having no ...
December 8, 2015
UPDATE TO BELOW REVIEW:This is dangerous for cats because ti can easily get caught around their necks. Look at the picture another reviewer posted.. perhaps that was done intentionally for the picture, but, this could happen if you leave the cat unsupervised ( which the toy isn't made for). Also when my grand kids play with this with the cat, it sometimes gets caught around his neck, and if I weren't right there, they try to pull it off and it would strangle the cat. For that matter as well, its not safe with the kids if they put it around their own necks. The ribbon also has became very thin. As it gets stretched during play, it becomes very thin and harder to play with. Another reviewer also stated their cats ate it and vomited it and had to have some of it pulled out the back end of another cat. This toy isn't meant to be used by cats without supervision. But even so, as I said, they get very excited and run fast after it, and if it whips around their neck and they keep moving, it can cause a problem. 2 stars because with very careful play by a responsible adult who is aware of the risk, the cats can enjoy it, but don't leave it around for them to get at when you cant be watching them. For me, I simply rather not have it.original review: Picasso LOVES this, its easy to use and safe as far as having no little bells etc that potentially can come loose to kitty to choke on. It moves fast which really gets him going. My only concern is that it does move fast and is long and can get wrapped around his neck, and a strong pull might hurt. But with supervision and attention, its a lot of fun. I don't think it would get caught so tightly as to harm him, but, if left propped for him, it is a possibility, so just use it when you play with your cats and don't leave it for them unattendedCat Dancer 301 Cat Charmer Interactive Cat Toy. Great price for this add-on item.
Not great for flicking around, possible choking hazard
January 11, 2014
I'm not overly thrilled with this toy and my kitty, while more enthusiastic about it than I am, also feels like it could be better (she often loses interest after a few minutes). The string is very long, about three and a half feet, which means a foot is dragging on the floor when I'm playing with her while sitting down. I'm a 6'5" male and even I have to hold my arm up high in order to get the tip of the string off the floor, which is the only way to really flick it around in an enticing manner. I've started to contemplate snipping a foot or so off the end, though I'm unsure if that will cause the string to fray and fall apart. Right now my cat usually winds up watching the tip of the plastic wand as I try to wave my arm high enough to get the end of the string going, which means a couple of tired shoulders for me and reduced playtime for her.I also worry about my little girl getting at this thing and playing with it when I'm not around, as the end of the string is small enough for an industrious kitty to swallow and could easily knot around her neck if she's rolling around with it.This "cat charmer" is higher quality than most cat toys, which I give it credit for, as I haven't had any issues with the string breaking or disconnecting from the wand. All in all it's an okay product that could be better, and I will likely be buying other toys to replace this one before long.

My cats won't play with it...
June 10, 2017
My cats don't even bother with this and they normally love any type of wand toy. The material feels like a piece of fleece blanket so it's heavier than other toys similar to this (the wands with feathers, wires and bells, etc.) and not free flowing enough to move fas and keep the cats attention. I wouldn't recommend it.
Not Safe
June 6, 2017
This was a fun toy at first, but if you have a cat who likes to chew on their toy, the fleece is not strong enough to withstand their jaws and sharp teeth. It took me a couple days to realize that my cat was literally eating it. Buy a safer toy instead.
Fun, but Unsafe
June 2, 2017
As others mentioned, this toy is popular with our cat, but when left alone he decided to eat off the end when we weren't around. We noticed it coming out of his rear end and had to take him to the vet when he wouldn't allow us to gently pull it out. Turns out he had swallowed about 7-8" of the fleece and (luckily) it hadn't become tangled in his intestines. This toy honestly is dangerous if unsupervised, and the $80 vet bill + time lost was so not worth it.
Great.... Until Your Cat Needs Surgery
January 17, 2016
I bought this for my kitten and was very please at first. She loves wand toys, and it made her run like crazy. I'm careful with most toys and put them out of reach when my boyfriend and I are not around to supervise, however kittens are wiley little creatures. I noticed that the end seemed shorter than before and a few days later I came home to find vomit the room that we keep her in when she is home alone with little pieces of multicolored felt in the vomit. Eventually it got to the point when we had to take her to the vet where my 14 week old kitten had to undergo intestinal surgery to remove a piece of this toy.CAT TOYS SHOULD BE SAFE FOR CATS!! Cats love to chew on things and this toy is a recipe for disaster and heartbreak.
Not Safe
November 21, 2014
Our cat loved playing with it, but he would try to eat it, sometimes getting several inches of fabric in his mouth. I tried only letting him have it while supervised, but then one day I noticed that the string was shorter--he'd managed to bite off and swallow some of it. Thankfully he's all right, but I looked through the other comments and noticed several reviewers who have had to take their cats to the vet because of this toy. I'm throwing it away.
I do love it but...
January 26, 2014
My cat loves this toy so so so much, but unfortunately he loves eating it too. One day I woke up and saw 7 inches of it missing. It was my fault for leaving it unattended, but it shouldn't be a dangerous toy if left alone to begin with. My cat didn't poop for 4 days, and we had to take him to the vet. He really misses the toy, but if possible can you guys make this ribbon more durable to tears and rips. Thank you. I really do love it, but I give it 1 star for the risk factor. My cat is okay, i digged through his poop to find it.
