Five Star Reviews: | 72% I absolutely LOVE this nailer September 11, 2017 I absolutely LOVE this nailer. I've been using high quality tools for work for a long time. I was a little hesitant buying this "off brand" product but this thing is awesome! I can't believe it. I would buy it again in a heartbeat! Awesome nailer! June 17, 2017 My vintage Porter Cable lost a pin in the middle of a job - couldn't repair it. Got this as a substitute to finish the job. A fraction of the price of the PC unit. Works great. $32! Looks remarkably like the newer PC unit at $150+ but great for the homeowner or occasional handyman May 30, 2017 Purchased this nailer to blind nail 50+ feet of 21/2 x 3/4 inch tongue & groove siding. Once I determined the correct air pressure, I was able to do the whole job with only one failure to fire out of 1000 2 inch nails! The failure may well have been mine for not holding the tool hard against the work. The tool feels substantial in the hand and appears to be well built. A couple of drops of oil with each 100 nail refill is the only maintenance needed. Probably not up to sustained commercial use, but great for the homeowner or occasional handyman. Very pleased. Well-Made Product February 18, 2017 When we were in the middle of a home improvement project and my husband's old nail gun quit, we quickly got on Amazon to compare prices and ratings for a new one. We ordered this NuMax and got it quickly. It has been a good nail gun and has worked exceptionally well! Pretty solid little nailer March 11, 2015 Purchased this to get the extra length (2 1/2 inch) and gauge of nails vs. brads. The brads are fine for interior and craft work, but for other lumber projects you need a nailer. I got this on a close out (or something) for $49; a total steal in my opinion. I'm a home owner and it has worked great on my 5 ft redwood fence I built for the front yard. Had one jam (think it was due to a snag on the nail head from nail mfg), not from the gun itself. Ejected that bad nail, and all the rest in the string fired off no problems. It's heavy duty enough for weekend projects and has already paid for it self in one fence job I've done. The construction is solid and feels heavy in the hand. I found no options or differences between NuMax gun and the bigger name brands (only name and price!). Does what you need it to. November 11, 2013 I'm running about 110psi into 3/4" prefinished red oak all day long without any issues. I'm sure more money buys you something with a nicer this or that, but for the price I really couldn't be happier. | 82% Well built. Great for small projects and torturing fugitives. September 12, 2017 Great for torturing people. The 1 inch brads go right into hands and REALLY hurt but cause no lasting or life-threatening injuries. Get people to tell you EXACTLY what you need to know. Or build stuff like furniture, picture frames, small projects... whatever floats your boat. Hey, build a small boat. Easy to use, doesn't jam. July 14, 2017 We bought this to finish up some trim projects around the house. I had borrowed a larger named, larger gauged version from a friend for some projects and I liked this one much better! The other one jammed every 10 or so nails. I haven't had this one jam once. It's been perfect for what I needed. I expect a lot more projects in the future with this thing! I was satisfied with it and thought I would try the nailer November 18, 2016 I was looking for a reasonably priced 18 gauge brad nailer . I had owned a WEN grinder, polisher years ago , so the WEN name wasn't new to me. I was satisfied with it and thought I would try the nailer. I'm glad I did. It works flawlessly. One caution. There is an adjustment wheel positioned between the blue brad driver assembly and the brad nail tray. This controls the depth the brad driver pushes the brad into the wood. Try driving a few into a scrap piece of trim, if you are working with trim, and don't want to leave the driver imprint on the wood. Once I got the adjustment right for the wood I was working with, it does a beautiful job of driving the brad and not marking the wood the best for the price August 31, 2016 still have to get a stuck nail or misfire. driven more than 500 nails. the best for the price. shame that i can't find a 23 gauge pin nailer update: absolutely happy with this. no misfires, shot blanks regularly though :) would be better if the nail window went al the way to the front. so you can see if there are still nails in de gun. searched for a WEN 23 gauge pin nailer, could not find one. what a shame Great value. Very pleased. February 15, 2016 My first brad nailer and I love it. Given the low low cost of this I was a little skeptical, but after using it on a project I am pleased. I made three drawers for a garage cabinet. The drawers are light duty so I used butt joints and glue. Brads were used to secure the pieces for the glue up. It's not a fine woodworking piece but it will do the job and I couldn't be happier. Wish I would have bought one of these years ago but before finding this I thought that meant dropping 100 dollars or more. Very easy to use. Simple to load and very light. There are raised ridges in the magazine that help you add the brads in the correct location. The depth setting is easy to use and allows for fine tuning. Works great with Bostitch brads sold at all the big box stores so you'll never run out of brads. I have a 30 gallon compressor so it's tough to say more than the unit never cycled on. I would guess that even a small pancake compressor wouldn't run much with this nailer. This is one of those deals that seems too good to be true. Maybe this won't last forever, but I could buy 3 or 4 of these for the price of one of the units at a big box store. |
Four Star Reviews: | 18% It does the job July 23, 2017 Have not used it much, but with the little I have done, it does it;s job. Lubrication container seems to be poorly designed. Four Stars June 3, 2017 Nice item but it was too much for my needs. I really needed an electric corded one Not contractor grade but OK April 7, 2017 It works fine for projects around the house. Longest nails I've used were 2" in solid wood crown molding and some of those required setting another 1/8" or so even with air pressure at 100 psi. I keep it oiled and haven't experienced any real problems with it so far. I've used over 1000 Porter Cable nails. seems to work well enough November 12, 2016 So far so good, only had one misfire (just had to remove a plate and pop out the stuck nail). You do have to be a bit careful as to the angle you use when putting in angled trim but that's probably true for any nail gun. The one niggle it seems to have is that the rubber protector on the end of the safety tip could be a little more secure, it tends to want to slide off. Nailer for the rest of us November 3, 2016 If you are a weekend warrior this is the finish nailer for you. I use it on a regular basis but not constantly. I have only had the unit jam once on me and it easily disassembles to remove the jammed nail. The no mar tip is great. It'd be nice if they offered the option to get a hard case for a slightly higher price. | 11% Wen 6130 combo August 5, 2017 This Has been great for nailing brads. The reason why I did not give it a 5-star is it leaves a mark on your wood. I was able to get around with a piece of plastic and duck tap. No marks now. Works very well. Quality piece. July 9, 2017 Works well. Seems t be a quality project. Used it to build outside vegetable planters from pallets. Made the job of construction go a lot faster. Good for the price. June 27, 2017 It works and the price can't be beat. I did end up buying a new Bostick compressor that came with three different bran nailers. The difference in quality is obvious but if you are on a budget or you only need it for an occasional job, I do recommend this for the price. Overall, happy with quality for price February 26, 2017 This gun works well for trim jobs but not hardwood. The gun is not the right gage to go through hardwood. I was able to use it for certain sections and pound the nails in the rest of the way with a nail set but would not recommend it. Gun occasionally jams or fires twice but I think that was due to using it with hardwood. I found that when using it a lot I needed to keep it well oiled so that it did not misfire. Overall, happy with the quality for the price. Does not come with a case. Great buy for the price May 2, 2016 Great buy for the price. I've used this on different moldings and it works well. I don't have much experience with other brad nailers, but this seems like a good value. The procedure for loading/unloading the nails was a little confusing at first but other than that it works well. |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% Puts through 2 1/2 inch nails great. Has been through 1 November 1, 2016 Puts through 2 1/2 inch nails great. Has been through 1,000 nails so far with the following issues:Sometimes a nail will not fire - you have to pull the trigger again if you can't see a jam.Once in a while you get 2 nails driven.I would recommend this as a home product, not something for heavy duty use. Ok October 3, 2015 It's ok,jams often.i pulled it off the work and I'm keeping at home.i believe it's fine for homeowner use.but if you want heavy use,get the hitachi. It is just ok with frequent jams November 10, 2014 I have had this nailer for over a month. It has jammed quite frequently. It has given us headaches right in the middle of the hardwood flooring installation project when we were exhausted and wished to get things done quickly. I put some oil in it and it shoots better. I've had a cabinet shop before I retired ... August 6, 2014 It does not fire in the horizontal position. Why, I do not know. I put some oil in it and it shoots better. I've had a cabinet shop before I retired and it is not very good as a nail gun goes. Considering sending it back. Still trying to make it work. Need to finish my base trim though. | 3% Ok Product for the price September 13, 2017 I purchased the product almost a year ago and have had some good use out of it. Overall it is a ok product. The biggest issue is that it will not always engage and eject a nail. More times then not it will shoot two nails at one time. Anything but 2 inches June 26, 2017 OK first things first, it doesn't take 2inch nails that well. I use porter cable nails and anything under 2 works fine, When i try 2inch nails i get a lot of misfires and they get stuck in the slide. It will just shoot like a gun July 21, 2016 Beware that this nail gun seems to have a safety issue. It will shoot nails by just pulling trigger without the end being pressed against a firm surface. No contact is needed. It will just shoot like a gun. Almost shot a 2 inch brad through my leg twice. Works ok. Have had some issues with it. October 7, 2015 First one sprung a leak after 3 nails. Second one works, but it seems to fire two nails often. One pull of the trigger will sometimes fire two nails. Perhaps that's normal for brad nailers, but my cheap Harbor Frieght 15 gauge never fires 2. Overall, It's a very good price and I would probably buy again unless I run into more problems. Seemed solid, however leaked oil. February 10, 2014 Seems to be well enough made, however mine spit oil when I used it. It seems to be hit or miss looking at the reviews. Returning the nailer was quick and easy, however I went ahead and got another type locally. |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% good while it lasted =/ September 6, 2017 worked for about 3-4 months. I've only used this about 7 times and something broke on the inside of the tool and it no longer holds air. right when you hook it up to the compressor, air just starts blowing out of the back of it. Not your best choice February 23, 2017 Would not counter sink brads in red oak wood with 2" brads at full adjustment and maximum pressure. Did OK with shorter brads. not impressed just found out I can't return it not so happy February 4, 2017 Seems I spend more time clearing jams than using the nailer, something not right here. No issues with my bostich nailer. Worked for a time - then fell apart June 28, 2016 When it worked, it was great. Unfortunately, the front end came apart while in use (while pulling the trigger), sent parts flying and I am unable to reassemble. Nail gun fires randomly, without trigger pressure September 4, 2013 The nail gun sometimes fires air without pressing the trigger. Fires nail randomly. I don't think I would buy it again. | 2% What the hell.... July 5, 2017 Works awesome! Update: Only 2 stars now. The part you pull out to load nails keeps flying open every time I pull the trigger! Would Not Fire May 9, 2015 I've heard of WEN tools and they have a decent reputation. Everything was great about this product except after I oiled it and hooked it up to the air compressor, it would not fire. The amazon refund process is very nice, but I don't think I'll stray from my DeWalt tools again. Disappointed. November 3, 2014 I'm disappointed after reading the glowing reviews. I installed trim this weekend, and about 50% of the time, the brad remained 1/4 to 2 inches outside of the wood. About 15% of the time, two nails were fired: one went in, and the other stuck out. Pressure was always in the 80 to 90 range, well within the 60 to 100 recommended. I played with the depth guage, and nothing worked. Different pressure on the trigger didn't matter either. It's caused me problems with the trim, and a lot of additional corrective work. ... moldings) The gun it self is made and feels good. The performance is some what mix results July 23, 2014 I have used this gun for about 1 month as of today in a professional way(2 to 3 day a week on trim moldings) The gun it self is made and feels good . The performance is some what mix results. Having used it with 1 1/2 and 2 inches nails it shoot fine except every ten nails more or less and the next one is left not sink in with the head sticking out, also it double shoots for no reason(not to may times but it does). For a home owner used this may be alright but for a trade person it is more inconvenience the it is worth it. I have and own other similar guns and have used them side by side and my others guns don't do this. I for myself would not buy it again. It stopped working after about a month August 15, 2013 It worked well initially but after about a month it stopped working but I was lucky enough that was able to return it |
One Star Reviews: | 5% Spend your money else where. October 27, 2017 You get what you pay for I guess. It lasted about an hour till it quit working. Poorly built! September 3, 2017 Shot 25 nails, then the roll spring holder broke off and now it is just a paper weight. Unlike the Porter Cable guns, this one is riveted together and cannot be repaired. Lesson learned. One Star July 27, 2017 Broke after the second use. Ran less than 200 nails in total through it before it started leaking air. Thought I would overlook the bad comments about the gun jamming as I have used ... March 2, 2017 Thought I would overlook the bad comments about the gun jamming as I have used these types of nailers over the years. Ran 1 sleeve of 2 Inch nails (about 100) nails and it started jamming. no problem, clear the jam and move on. after about 10 nails jammed again. no problem, cleared again and then again and the again. finally it jammed so bad I couldn't get the nails out. Started to dissemble the gun with the Allen wrenches supplied but the screws were so tight it started to round out the screw, after several hours of getting no where I decided enough was enough. The only reason thy are getting a star at all is that Amazon Prime return service is super exceptional. Misfires EVERYTIME!!!! June 26, 2014 I purchased this nail gun because it was a good price point and the amazon reviews were good. However....after shooting about 20 nails through the gun, it began misfiring -- I would have to pull the trigger twice for it to fire a single nail. The first pull would shoot air, which actually damaged my trim because of the slight recoil, than I'd pull it again for it to fire properly. Luckily, I didn't need it for a big project and I was already 90% complete so it didn't bother me much. Well...two months later, I just took it back out to nail some other pieces of trim, and the gun won't fire at all. I'll hold the trigger and air just comes leaking out. TERRIBLE PURCHASE... | 2% The gauge left is huge. November 20, 2016 Leaves a sizable gauge in wood, much too large for detail wood and trim work. Constantly misfiring too. Junk. Wish I had returned it. Wen 18g finish nailer May 4, 2014 I'm pro trimmer and this gun is not worth it ! Broke on next day I'm sending this guy back ! It is a Junk !!! March 28, 2014 I have bougnt two Band nailers. It is a junk. it only worked 2 weeks and both of them died !!!! Fires One Nail and Then Just Air March 15, 2014 Bought this nailer based on the 4+ star rating on Amazon and thought it would be perfect. It shoots the first brad flawlessly and then just air until I manually advance the rest of the nails forward. Having to manually advance the nails each time is ridiculously time consuming but it would be spectacular if I you needed it to fire one nail. |
