Five Star Reviews: | 65% One of the best wire strippers July 11, 2017 This is one of the best wire strippers I've ever used. I like the curve handle, the easy to read gauge cutters, and the middle cutter. I bought one for my dad as well. Best tool for several jobs. June 26, 2017 It's served me well in many applications. Stripping wires for computer part modification works very well, and the pliers on the nose are a huge time saver. For restringing a guitar, these are perfect: just pull the bridge pins out with the pliers and snip the ends off so you don't have the whole strings flopping around as you get them out of the tuning pegs. I've probably found more uses for this thing than any other tool I own. Works well; quality tool July 6, 2016 This wire stripper/cutter works well. My son used it to attach the wires to my home theater system. I tried it myself and found it to be a quality tool at a modest price. Look no further for a basic wire stripper April 10, 2015 If I did a lot of electrical work I might go with a self adjusting stripper, but for the once or twice a month I need it, this is perfect. The spring is a nice feature my last pair did not have. The lock that holds it closed is a bit tight at first, but loosens up with use. BETTER THAN KLEIN October 16, 2014 The TEKTON is a good or better than Klein. The cutter sliced through 12/2 wire (all three leads) with little effort. The stripper was sharp and quick--I'd used a pair of my father's years ago and thought about calling him and tell him to throw them away. This is a great price for a quality tool...it makes me want to hang some more fixtures in my garage! Excellent Stripper/Cutter. September 5, 2014 These things are sturdy and well made. For this price, I was expecting something a little more "flimsy", but these are rugged and will likely last for many years to come. They strips solid and stranded wire sizes 10-22 AWG and even cut screws! The markings are easy to read and look like they won't ever fade. It's spring loaded and has a great locking mechanism. | 79% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 18% great strippers, meh screw cutter September 15, 2017 they're great strippers, especially considering the price. However, I give them 4 stars due to one of the screw cutters being 10-32. I don't think I've ever used 10-32, and so it is useless. It would be more useful if it were 6-32 to go along with the 8-32, otherwise i'd use them every day. Oh well, i just got them for my junker set of tools anyway. Affordable wire stripper June 27, 2017 I compared this with my Klein (11055) wire stripper. They look very similar and have the same wire gauge ranges; however, this one is not quite as good as Klein. First off the grip isn't as comfortable. It's not bad though. I like the shape of it, it is more conformed to fit in your hand. This was a great price and cuts and strips wire well. The biggest flaw I see is the locking mechanism. It is a pretty tight lock. I am going to grind or file the lock down a little bit. The spring is also a lesser quality than Klein. Overall this is a pretty good wire stripper for the occasional use. I would invest in Klein for professional use. You can get the same thing fork Klein for under $20. Precise and efficient: just-right spring tension, sharp cutter and stripper, good heft / Downside: small pliers tips, cheap lock December 3, 2016 I'm a hobbyist A/V guy, doing small and infrequent projects in my house. I purchased these and did a few small projects. I wish the pliers at the tip were a little larger. It's easy to apply too much pressure while stripping the cut casing, and that prevents one from stripping as easily as other tools. But that's a very minor concern. The thumb lock feels cheap, but otherwise the construction is solid and tight. The tool has a good heft, just enough. The grip is fine, the spring's tension is just right. The sharpness of the stripper and cutter makes using this tool satisfying. In my experience, the sharpness of the elements and the tension of the spring are the reasons I give these guys a high rating. I found them to be precise and efficient. Wire stripper works like a wire stripper October 14, 2015 I was working on speakers and receiver wires and this cutter has everything I needed! Note that I saw a cheaper one at Walmart but hey, I need something to add it up $35 so it works out economically. I have no problem stripping wire with this cutter.Downside - It came with oily handle but it's a tool so I guess that's normal. Oil goes off after using it a few times. Good tool overall, has some faults though. August 30, 2014 The positive:It strips wire very well. The wire cutters work well. It is comfortable to hold. Low risk of being shocked in case circuit is live. The cons:The little metal device that holds the tool closed is hard to open and close with one hand. This requires you to let go of whatever you are working on to open the tool. It is hard to undo with gloves on.I recommend this tool for hobbyists.Professionals would find it annoying to undo clasp. | 9% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 7% Great tool, doesn't stay closed though. February 23, 2016 Great tool. The only thing is that it doesn't stay closed very well. The little chrome tab on the side does not do its job of securing it closed. I have to use a zip tie or rubber band if I want to store it closed. Other than that they are great strippers. I use them daily and they hold ... December 23, 2015 The little piece that holds them closed stop working almost out of the package. Other than that they are great strippers. I use them daily and they hold up just as well as kleins. ... well so they're always springing open which is very annoying. November 9, 2015 They work well enough for stripping and cutting wire but the catch/lock thing doesn't stick very well so they're always springing open which is very annoying. Not Totally as advertised December 13, 2014 Item made in China, The lock that is suppose to keep wire cutters in closed position does not work and is a nuisance, makes them hard to store. Shows poor quality control in production,.Otherwise they perform as advertised. | 7% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 5% You get what you pay.. little cheap feel. May 3, 2017 Handle little too slippery and way too much foam wrapping. Also, the latch to keep the tool closed, too tight. I had to hold the wire cutter with one hand and move the lever with the other hand. OK for the price. Cheaply made. December 21, 2015 After using them for less than a day, the lock no longer holds them closed. If they won't stay closed I can't put them in a pocket while I'm working, so they're useless to me. disappointed June 24, 2015 Lock doesn't work right off the package which makes it impossible to carry in pockets and hard to fit in tool bag and to pull it out of it. If I cant put it away and pull it out quickly constantly on my job, its a big issue for me... I feel like when I use it a little more the smaller ... April 8, 2015 Seems just a hair wider than normal but still works for now. I feel like when I use it a little more the smaller wires won't cut. Pass on these. Try something different. February 9, 2015 Honestly, for the number of high star reviews this has I was expecting it to be much better quality than it was. The wire strippers are of poor quality and don't hug any size Romex tightly enough to easily strip the outer coating. The spring loaded opening is also terrible quality. The handles reluctantly and slowly open to about 1/3 to half of their normal opening making you have to flick the handles open before moving on to the next set of wires which really slows the process down. I just bought a pair of commercial electric wire strippers, cheaper and work much better, to replace these and I love them. doesn't seem like solid quality November 8, 2014 Screw cutter doesn't work very well, doesn't seem like solid quality. | 3% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 5% One Star September 15, 2017 Spend the extra money on quality wire stripper. After its first use its stop working. Go with the Kline. Total waste. November 26, 2016 I haven't used it much, I can't rate the quality. It claims to strip to 28gage but only goes to i think 26. I need to strip 28 Gage wire. Total waste. did not work well May 7, 2015 This thing does not cut and strip wire well. The other reviews were glowing so I bought one. I wish I had sent it back while I could. Maybe I got a dud, but it really doesn't cut or strip wire without a huge fight and a lot of patience I purchased two of them and they were both bad. I'm a radiant heating contractor and do a ... March 9, 2015 I purchased two of them and they were both bad. I'm a radiant heating contractor and do a lot of low voltage wiring. This tool fails to do two important tasks:#1 The latch that holds the tool closed always slips off and whenever you reach for the tool, it's in the open position. You may only understand this problem if you're in the trades.#2 The 20 ga. solid wire strippers won't even strip 18 ga. solid wire. It's not calibrated properly. The front jaws touch before the strippers have reduced to the proper size. | 2% There are no reviews yet |
