KitchenAid KSM1APC Spiralizer attachment
October 2, 2016
KitchenAid Spiralizer attachments. Works as promised, arrived in a specialized storage box that holds all attachments. Very easy to use. I did watch You Tube to learn how to assemble. Instructions that come with attachments are not very clear. I used attachments to peel and slice apples and potatoes. I dehydrate and can foods, so this tool was awesome! The slicer slices the fruit to about a1/4th inch (about the same thickness of a manual peeler/slicer. The peeler works very well, and does not take off too much peel. It peels and slices in about 30 seconds. I also use a manual peeler/slicer next to this and double up on the process to speed things up. You can peel or NOT peel. The machine cores the item. I processed dozens of apples in a very short time. I also used this for potatoes. I make my own potato chips, and used this instead of my regular food processor. I sliced potatoes and also used the spiralizer attachment to make potato curly fries. I think my husband enjoyed them even more cuz they were curly!!!! The kit comes with 4 attachments that allow you to create thin spirals or slices. HOWEVER, the spirals can be of varying thickness, the spirals do break often, and are not gorgeous photographic pieces of artwork! But make for a great veggie salad, curly fries etc. This attachment is definitely a fun and useful addition to my kitchen toys. Very easy to assemble/disassemble and to clean.
EAT YOUR VEGGIES
September 21, 2016
So this started a veggie eating addiction. Home made pasta sauce on zoodles? mmmm. Spiralized sweet potatoes browned in garlic olive oil? Oh my!! WARNING: The 'Fruit and Vegetable Skewer' (the little plastic/metal thing that holds the food) will jump into your sink's disposal. I don't know why but it wants to. Some reviewer would take away stars because they were dumb enough to damage this thing. I grinded mine up but it was my fault, not Kitchen Aid. :) When I tried to order a new one, they sent me a FREE one. That was very cool.
my favorite

I use this multiple times per week. I have used zucchini, beets, rutabaga, parsnip, kohlrabi, sweet potato...and more. I have read complaints about the spear not gripping vegetable strong enough. I always ensure the spear is pushed all the way in, including the smaller spears. With all of them pushed in, it holds well.
Awesome product!
July 18, 2016
I used the spiralizer for the first time yesterday, and wow is it awesome! It was more expensive than any other spiralizer out there but oh so worth it! I absolutely love it! I spiral sliced a sweet potato because that's all I had was 1 sweet potato. I made squash and zucchini spaghetti spirals and my husband cooked it on the grill with the steak. It's so much fun and easy to use. I had one I got from BJ's and had to put a bowl in front of it and push the crank as I turned it. It did well ,but it was so much work. The suction cups didn't stick and I had to clean the whole thing every time I used it. This you attach to the mixer and prep the items and catch it is it spirals and clean up is so easy! I clean the blades with a brush, the spike you anchor the food with and the peeler and wipe down the main attachment and I'm done. It is so easy, so much fun to use and so well made and thought out! I can't wait for Apple season!
LOVE The Spiralizer
June 14, 2016
Love, love, love. It makes amazing fries, thin or thick. It is so durable and easy to wash and keep clean. It is incredibly functionable, fast, efficient. Many times other products like this are particular about the shape and size of the potatoes being used, but this one is diverse and easy to use. It is dependable and constant. What is better than homemade curly fries? This makes the experience of golden curly fries at your finger tips possible. I love using this with my family. You can use it for all sorts of foods, not just potatoes. It is versatile and efficient and I would 100% buy this product again.
Pay once, cry once, and you'll have a lifetime tool.

This is the best spiralizer ever. Hands down. Read on for why you want this.We initially bought the Paderno World Cuisine Spiralizer Pro, 4-Blade spiralizer. It was $49.95 on Amazon, and seemed like a great deal. This was a far, far better investment and I wish we'd bought it up front. Read my review for the Paderno on my profile page.TL;DR: There are cheaper options out there for spiralizers, but you definitely pay for what you get. Pay once, cry once, and you'll have a serious Kitchenaid appliance that'll last for years and be guaranteed as part of Kitchenaid's incredible warranty and customer service. This is one of those instances where holding out for quality is well rewarded. The Good: The packaging is handsome and utilitarian. Don't just tear into your box! It is actually designed as a long-term storage for your spiralizer and attachments. It's sturdy cardboard and foam packaging that leaves everything on clear display. Major points here to Kitchenaid for not selling you a bunch of one-use unsustainable packaging; it's meant to be used and kept long-term. The parts are solid and stainless steel, no faux-plating of plastic here. Incredibly sturdy and well-made, and the blades are nice and sharp, to boot. The parts all lock in place really solidly at the major attachment points and beside just 'indexing' locations, there are hinges that use actual pressure to hold the parts solidly down. I'm extremely impressed with them from a utilitarian view as well as an engineering one.The components are designed to be 'drop in', so you don't have to spend a lot of time installing or calibrating parts- they're all self-aligning once you get them dialed in and all you have to do is tighten down the brackets and the tension levers, which can be done with literally one hand. The primary parts are all machine washable and the spiralizer itself can be rinsed in hot soapy water, so it's a breeze to keep things cleaned up properly. Though it's a subjective feeling, it all 'feels' extremely solid and durable, with no play in the hinges or axes of motion. It worked incredibly well for yellow squash, and we'll add on to this review as we try out other vegetables and slicers. The Bad: It's a bit pricey at $100, but this is a case of pay once, cry once. It's the only way to go if you've got a Kitchenaid. There is very little negative I can say about this device!Improvements: Pie-in-the-sky wish would be that it could handle longer than 6" vegetables. But, that's very likely making it too long for practical daily use.

Great "Vegetti" Maker.
August 29, 2017
I have not used the peeler, and may never do so. Happy with what I have already on that.

However, the spiralizer has been great. I've had "zoodles and meat sauce" twice, and the zucchini noodles created with this worked just find. It's compact, easy to use, and just works.

I have one complaint, but it's so small that, as you can see, I still gave this 5 stars. A small portion of the vegetable winds up tucked into the little "nook" at the very center of the spiralizer. That's a small bit of waste that I wish didn't happen. However, even that winds up spiral-cut, sort of like a rotini noodle. This piece doesn't quite hold the same pasta texture as the "vegetti" that comes out. But I use this piece and don't have a hard complaint on it.
Now It's FUN to eat Veggies
May 31, 2016
I bought my Spiralizer when it was on sale but only got around to using it last night! Tonight, I am using it again. I am a Weight Watcher and loved the idea of turning vegetables, which I haven't been fond of, into noodles. I not only bought the Spiralizer but also the accompanying cook book. Today, I made carrot noodles - so easy AND fun! I'm going to use them with a simple recipe of bacon, parmesan cheese, and garlic (the recipe includes various peppers but I don't like pepper - I found the recipe delicious without the pepper-)
Although I had peeled zucchini noodles last night (and didn't even taste the zucchini!), I am already wondering how my carrot noodles will taste! The bundle also comes with a cookbook one can download and print, a little brush, and a peeler. You also get to see a video on what you are doing, as well as follow up e-mails.
Love this easy to use gadget

Love this easy to use gadget! The sharp blades make spiralizing a breeze and took less time than I expected. Great price point too!
IMAGINATION is the K-e-y! Yummmm
October 22, 2014
This Premium Slicer is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I use it almost every day. There are so many veggies and fruits that work well with this slicer. Watch the video on usage, it's important. Before I watched the video I was limited to using just zucchini but now - the sky is the limit. Use "fat" carrots, I made the mistake of trying baby carrots - not good. I have not branched out to various squashes and have made an amazing soup with all the vegetables and garnished the top with pear spirals.

See 2 pictures below. I made a salad and added baked salmon, quinoa, grapes, bell peppers and more. No pictures of the soup, it was devoured before I could snap a picture :-)

I've spiraled the vegies and put them in a pickling brine and voile! Can't believe how easy and yummy and EASY the results are.

Use your imagination and go c-r-a-z-y with your creations.

Spiralizes well
May 10, 2017
This is a large attachment that sticks out about 10 inches from the mixer. It will spiralize zucchini, potatoes, and other firm fruits and vegetables, but don't expect it to peel very well. I have to hold my finger under the peeling blade to get it to touch the apple or zucchini and actually take the peel off. I've decided I don't mind leaving the peel on and it's healthier anyway. This spiralizer is much easier than the hand held type or the table top kind that you have to turn a crank for. Just slide the vegetable on, line it up, and turn it on. Done in seconds!
Healthy vegetables in a new shape.
January 20, 2017
It comes in a great storage box that I have enough space to leave under the counter. Inserts and detaches easily. Works well. Leaves a bigger end than I like (about 1/2 inch), so I end up chopping that up. It must have a bigger circumference (at least 1 1/2 inches). I have done zucchini, carrot, sweet potato, summer squash, and beets so far. It handles them all. Just seems to really work for the hard stuff. The parts go on and come apart easily. Hand wash so no one gets cut!
Nifty toy, blades a little flimsy
October 10, 2016
This is a really cool gadget. First one I've ever seen that actually successfully fully peels apples! Box layout makes it look like you're checking out a car engine, which is fun. Downside is the blade quality. It slices fine, but bends very easily. Only about two dozen yams before I had to bend it back into shape, with the expectation that the same thing will happen again more quickly this time. Seems to handle zucchini and apples without as much bending. That said, glad over all to have bought it. Zoodles are way fun (tip: degorge and dry them to within an inch of their lives -- toweled after rinsing off salt, and then a day or two in a colander in the fridge). Coconut oil tossed, sea-salted, and crispy-baked yams are really delightful. Difficult to get good spirals from carrots, because they're too narrow to start with, unless you get a super uniform one, and manage to center it exactly. Apples work well (have the lemon juice on hand to prevent browning). Looking forward to trying with pears.
Good product but seems fragile....
August 7, 2016
Not as complicated as it looks to put together! I like this product a lot....I need a cookbook and not the inspiralizer one which is a horrible cookbook. Lots of blades - a few I'm not sure what to do with, and the plastic parts look like they could break off or melt at any moment. But for now it's doing what it needs to--well!
Time Saving Attachment
August 6, 2016
This has been a great time saver for me! Due to a food allergy in our house, we tend to make everything from scratch. This is great for peeling apples for applesauce, making vegetable noodles (carrots and zucchini work best), and prepping potatoes for curly fries. Easy set up, simple to operate, and cleanup is a breeze.
It good
July 16, 2016
Peels potatoes and such great but it's too small to efficiently spiral things that are longer than an apple. It isn't long enough to stick a zuccini on without splitting it in half first. Also the core holes don't always line the fruit or vegetables up correctly and they will not spiral instead they will break apart in peices.Great for fat short fruit and veggies though.

SOOO Many Zoodles...so little effort.
August 7, 2017
I like it! Made some linguini sized Zucchini Noodles and the little gizmo couldn't be easier to use. The Spiked cap helped keep fingers clear, and the metal side bars helped keep a firm grip. The Blades are super sharp and could be a night mare to clean without giving up a pint or two of blood. Luckily the included cleaning brush made quick work of the Zuch-debris. Great inexpensive way to get into making veggie spirals!
Pleased with product.
August 13, 2016
I don't think the thing that's supposed to hold the food works all that well as it kept slipping out of the food. Other than that, I think it's a good product for the money. I've made zucchini 'spaghetti' a few times with it and am very happy with the final product. This does the job and doesn't take up room on the counter like the big spiralizers. I'd buy it again or give it for a gift.
This Thing Really Works!
January 9, 2016
Took me a while but I finally joined the spiralizing bandwagon. I'm not disappointed and it's a fresh way to add variety to healthy eating. It does exactly what it says it does and zucchini pasta is surprisingly satisfying.

One of the downsides to these types of tools, including this one, is that it leaves a chunk of the veggie behind. I just cut it up and add it to whatever I'm eating. This one comes with a circular veggie "holder" with little plastic spikes but so far I've found that part of it to be useless, it doesn't grab a soft veggie very well and isn't made to grab a hard veggie like a carrot. I use my hands to hold the veggie and that works fine...just be careful when you get lower into the device as the blades are sharp. It also seems a little over-packaged, the storage bag that comes with it looks nice but I for one don't store my kitchen utensils in separate bags, it's not convenient when you're reaching for a tool. The bag is cute and I'll use if for something else.

All considered, a worthwhile purchase!
A good product for the price, but maybe a better design somewhere else?
June 22, 2015
I basically only use this to Mexican any pasta. While it does do the job and cuts it into pasta like slices nicely. It does waste the core pretty badly and is somewhat difficult to clean. It left me wondering if there was a better model that I could get the whole zucchini twirled without wasting so much of the core. I would buy it again because the price is right and it does work. I just wonder if I should've spent more and maybe have one that was better designed
Nifty Tool
July 19, 2014
I used it the day I received it. Works well once you "get the knack" which did't take long. I was under the impression a book and CD came with it for ideas. I contacted the customer service and discovered it is an e-book and video. They supplied me with the access links so I can't wait to do more with it. I made zucchini noodles and they cooked up just like spaghetti--I had long strands that held up well to cooking and stirring. Now that I have all the parts I think this is a great addition to the kitchen for healthy eating. After I have time to read the recipe book I may come back and rate it a 5 star/

This is really expensive and doesn't work very well. If all you want to do is core peel and slice apples it works well but any other job is a fight you will usually lose :(
I am pleased with the thought of how it works
December 17, 2016
I am pleased with the thought of how it works. It worked the first time using it with soft zucchini; I loved it. The second time with carrots the metal part, which is inserted into the vegetable, broke away from the plastic part. Without this part, the spiralizer is useless as it is used for all functions. This is the first time a Kitchen Aid product was so fragile. Because of the name, I did not hesitate to purchase, but this is not ready for prime time.
Works okay, not awesome
November 18, 2016
Works okay for some foods. Sometimes I have trouble with it and it gets stuck and gouges the food. I was able to use it on apples, potatoes, and cucumbers so far. Sometimes the food doesn't stay stuck in if it's too soft. It worked the best on potatoes.
Wish it worked much better, the small hand one works on some things much better!
November 1, 2016
I'm a bit disappointed in this product,if the vegetables are a little soft in the middle they just turn on the wheel and it won't get cut. The one thing that worked okay was cutting an apple and coring it. If the vegetables are hard it works okay, but you have to work with it like a potato turned sideways. From the videos make it look so easy, but i wonder how many takes they did !
gluten free?
July 18, 2016
works really nicely. although be forewarned it wastes a lot of the fruit and vegetable. if you're not careful about making it the right size for the spiralizer you'll get very little spiralized. there's only a set range between the two metal pieces that actually spiralizes. so if you look at the picture of the attachment with the apple, it will only get about half of the apple peeled if you look at the threading it does not go to the end of the metal so it won't hit the spear that anchors the fruit. they should have made a adjustable stopper behind the spear so you can push out the vegetable to use the entire thing, but now that i'm writing this i'm going to try attaching a cork to it! see if it works. OR i may end up with zucchini and carrot spirals with a dash of cork in it! came a great box for storage though. too soon to say whether it'll last or not. it's awfully expensive for a piece that is predominantly plastic. love the zucchini spirals though!
Not for things besides potatoes and squash!
December 5, 2015
This is great for certain things: potatoes, squash, apples, but for others, it simply doesn't work. There is a coring device which is required for use, so no nicely spiralized carrots or any other thin vegetable or fruit. It simply goes right through the coring device. The noodles are nice, however, and they make nice zucchini noodles and potato fries. I made an apple pie, and I had to peel eleven apples. This normally takes me hours, but it took less than five minutes with the apple peeler and slicer attachment. This comes with several attachments. One cores and peels and slices apples. One makes thick spiral "noodles." One makes slightly thinner ones, but definitely not as thin as spaghetti or most thin pastas. One makes thick curls, which I used for sweet potato fries. It works well for these, but there are very few vegetables that one can use with this device. There are hand-cranked ones for less than twenty dollars that can do more than this set can.

My son encouraged me to buy this spiralizer. The first time I used it I spiralized zucchini and yellow squash. Sometimes the veggies would be long like spaghetti and sometimes they would be very short pieces like hashbrown size. I think you have to develop a technique of some sort so that most of the veggies are spaghetti length. The same goes for using the cap to aid with the spiralizing. Maybe the more I use it the better I'll get. It's not a bad invention overall. I look forward to spiralizing other foods.

The only thing I don't like about this is that you have to have very specifically shaped Vegetables to fit in it.

September 30, 2016
I had high hopes for this spiralizer, however you have to be very careful not to shred your fingers when you get closer to the end of the vegetable. There is no real way to utilize the vegetable in its entirety, and your left with a sizable chunk left over.
The peeler that comes with it works ok, and I like that they added a brush for clean up. Cleaning is simple, just rinse immediately after use and all the bits rinse away easily. I will use this, and to be fair it does make nice "noodles". I'll be looking around for something that is a bit more user friendly.

March 24, 2016
I had a lot of fun with this my first time using it (yellow squash) but I wish the innards of the veggies didn't get so bunched up at the bottom of the cone- and since there's no hole to poke it through, you have to use your fingers to get the core unstuck, which is a bit nerve racking to be fiddling with something so slippery near those blades. Also, the big wasted core is kind of a bummer, too, so just chop it up and add it to your dish. It doesn't seem sharp enough to do much more than the outer peel and just under it, even on firm squash, which makes me nervous to try something harder like a carrot. I do have fun with this tool though, even if it is a pain to clean!
Vegatable Spiralizer Review
September 2, 2015
This spiralizer is ok. I had a Cooking Light recipe for "zoodles" so I figured I'd try out this product. There are two main reasons I'm only giving it 3 stars: first, my recipe called for 4 medium zucchini. My arm was so tired after sprializing 4 and it took a while because I had to keep stopping to re-position the zucchini so it fit in properly. Second, you cannot spiralize the entire vegetable because of the inherent design of the spiralizer. Therefore, there is quite a large "butt" left. I ended up quartering the "butts" because I don't like to waste food, however, because I was sauteeing the "zoodles" the different shapes cooked at different times which made the "zoodles" too tender (almost mushy). Now that I've used it once, I know what to expect and would do things differently next time I use it. The price is great, so I would recommend trying it. I think it would be great for garnishes and salad toppers. Just note that to spiralize a lot of vegetables will take time and effort.

October 2, 2017
I love my Kitchen Aid and thought I would love the spiralizer attachment. I first used it with zucchini and it worked well although you have to cut the zucchini down to 4-5 inches so it fits. I tried sweet potatoes next which was a disaster! It wasn't strong enough to hold the sweet potato and it took a while to finally get about half usable sweet potatoes. I knew I would never use this again, even though it worked okay with zucchini. I want 1 machine to work on all the veggies I want to spiralize. What a pain! I've been meaning to return this item and when I sat down to return it today I found out Amazon has a 30 day return policy and I'm a few days past that so this attachment I don't want anymore, is mine for $79! I am VERY unhappy! Don't waist your money on this attachment. I've been researching other spiralizers that are half the price of this one. Hopefully the new one (which I haven't bought yet because I was waiting to return this one) will work better. I gave it 2 stars because it did work on zucchini.

It is sturdy enough, but it takes so much longer than my counter top apple Peeler Corer slicer from Pampered Chef. Works great just slow to get in a rhythm and get a good streak going.
Hopefully the replacement one will work better.
October 10, 2016
I used it on about ten apples and then it malfunctioned. The release handle would not stay on track and kept jumping, which in turn did not allow it to peel or core the apple. I called kitchenaid and they are sending a replacement. Hopefully the replacement one will work better.

September 30, 2016
I've used this twice and each time a different part has broken. When it works it's a time saver, but the frustration it has caused has taken away any joy in owning it. Both times it was covered by the warranty, so be very sure you register it before you even use it! The first piece took over two weeks to be sent the replacement piece. Still waiting on the second part that has broken. Be very gentle with the pieces. Had no idea it would be so touchy.

Too pricy for the utility other stand alone devices are cheaper to buy, clean up more easily and do the same or a better job. Brand name and price should translate into something better in this case they do not!
A hassle
February 9, 2016
Sorry but I sent mine back. The core of the vegetable gets wasted if it's not an apple. It's not worth the hassle to get some of the cucumber or other veggie spiralized. I like all my other kitchenaid attachments, this one just doesn't float my boat.

I knew this wouldn't be amazing at the price point
November 4, 2016
I knew this wouldn't be amazing at the price point, and I got it because I was curious about spiralized veggies. I planned from the get go to upgrade if I really liked veggie noodles. My biggest complaint is that the grip end offers no stability, and just shreds the produce end. So I would just use my hand as much as I could and that resulted in more waste. Also, takes only smaller size produce. Did make good size noodles though.
Wish I wouldn't have
May 8, 2016
It cuts cucumbers well, but anything harder in texture is more difficult than I would have thought after reading the rave reviews. The cookbook is 2 1/2" by 5", and is only about 20 pages. The recipes call for quite a few ingredients most people won't have in their kitchen. I haven't eaten a date in decades, but most recipes call a date. How many of you have nutritional yeast, Himalayan pink sea salt and hemp seeds, tamari, walnut oil, puffed quanta or cashew creme in their kitchen? If you do, then this is the recipe book for you.
I won't use this nearly as often as I first thought. I fell for the latest fad, and am not proud of that fact
Save your money on all of these. Once you get it short enough it goes inside and then you have nothing to cut or hold to turn it
March 9, 2016
Little disappointed in it, once you get the cucumber or zucchini inside the unit, then can do anything with it. I even put on the lid and twisted it and all it did was tear up the end of the zucchini, so the inside is still big. Not sure if its worth it. I tried a peeler with the julienne blade and it worked better. Just my opinion. I would not buy this again. Cheaply made as well. Also the units that you turn works better as well, this just has nothing to push the zucchini or cucumber into the blade once it gets that size.
Underwhelmed
March 2, 2016
It's actually not too bad for vegetables that are the right size for the cone--zucchini, cucumbers, large carrots, but this device isn't nearly as versatile as some of other spiralizers out there. It's worth paying ten bucks more and getting a more versatile and easier to use device that can handle many different veggies and sizes. I also nicked my fingers getting a bit aggressive trying to get the very last spiral out of some cucumbers--kind of feel like some safety guides would be nice.

It is *not* metal; the blade carrier is plastic and deforms; avoid this product
November 9, 2017
Great idea, poorly made. Kitchenaid's statement that it is "premium metal construction" is FALSE. The blade carrier is plastic, which flexes and deforms. This means that blade attachments quickly start pressing against the long drive screw. Moreover because it is so cheap and flexible, you can't peel anything harder than an apple successfully. Even limiting it to apples and treating it very gently, after making 4 pies, it deformed to the point of being useless. I will be returning this tomorrow.Edit: I called Kitchenaid and they refused to accept a return for a defective design (also the Amazon return window closed 2 weeks ago so that is not an option).I am very unhappy with this experience and with Kitchenaid's customer service.

Don't buy if you value your fingers.
September 9, 2017
This product is extremely difficult to use. The handle has basically no grip capacity - I was never able to successfully "spiral" veggies using the handle. I was able to do it by hand - but this results in either half of your veggie going to waste, or several tiny cuts on your fingers as you attempt to spiral the last bits of veg. Maybe someone with tiny fingers or who is more dexterous might have more success than I did, but overall my recommendation is to pay a few extra dollars to get a nicer quality one with a turn-crank handle.

Delivered today, used today, returned today. Promptly broke after 10 minutes of use, did not properly spiral zucchini, and wasted quite a bit of the vegetable in the process. Don't waste your money on this cheap, easily defective product.
Waste of money

I have had this for a few months before opening and using. I have done that today and the peeler was broken, made of thin plastic. Then I had to yank the brush that had been crammed into the spiralizer. Then I tried to spiralize. The thing is so small I don't know if a carrot would fit. I was trying to cook sweet potatoes. The thing wouldn't spiralize, it just jammed. Too much work. I am throwing it out and getting a better one.

This product is terrible! It is impossible to make spirals with any vegetable at all. You can not feed the whole vegetable into the spiralizer only about half of it. The cap that is supposed to be used to push the food through is a joke. I ended up cutting my finger trying to get a carrot out. Do not buy this product.
Words can't express how much I hate this product.

Are you kidding me? Come on. This is the biggest piece of junk I have seen in a while. I don't believe any of the positive reviews I've read here. Wasted half of each zucchini. Couldn't slice a carrot. Could only slice my finger. Makes my arm hurt trying to turn the veggie. Terrible product. I feel like asking for them to pay ME to have gone through the trouble of even trying this. What a joke. No thank you. Glad I'm a Prime member and could return it without paying for shipping. Words can't express how much I hate this product. Spend the extra $14 and buy a real Spiralizer.
