department stores and specialty shops for a good peeler that will last
June 22, 2017
I've searched and searched the markets, department stores and specialty shops for a good peeler that will last. Now I finally, finally found one. Sometimes a little thing can make a big difference. This certainly made my life easier. I got four of them so I can share if the opportunity arises.

My mother always used this type of peeler and her old one broke. It was a bit difficult finding a decent one of this style, but this peeler was exactly what she was looking for. Seems to work well (I also prefer this style over newer styles) and after quite a bit of use, it has yet to break or rust.
Quick and effective

This is awesome. I love the slightly curved handle, which is comfortable and secure. The blade is sharp and effective. I've bought a couple now: two for me (I use them every day, sometimes more than once, so one is always in the dishwasher) and one for a family member whose old one got lost in a move.

I've tried a couple of other brands over the years. The cheap brands only save you a dollar or so, and they are less comfortable and definitely less sharp. The worst ones don't have a swivel head, so they're hard to use on curved things such as potatoes and apples. Pampered Chef used to have a similar one, but it was more expensive. This is the best value.
Best Peeler for the Price

The Linden Sweden Peeler is an absolute great peeler. It's nothing fancy. It does not have a rubber grip or any other decorative features. It's a plain peeler but it does its job admirably. I've peeled dozens of potatoes, carrots, apples with it and there's no sign of dulling even after going through the dishwasher. I also have the Oxo peeler and while the grip is a little more comfortable it does not peel any better. In fact, since this is substantially smaller I can peel faster with it as it's more nimble navigating around the contours of a potato. Also, since there it is completely stainless steel there is nothing to break on this. Rubber and plastic will eventually wear down and may melt in a dishwasher whereas the simplicity of this design will hold up through pretty much anything.

For $6 I don't think there's a better peeler out there, and even spending a few bucks more is not worth it unless you are peeling hundreds of potatoes.
Favorite Peeler

Great peeler. It's the one my mom had in the early 1960's (she still has it,still works well) and I jumped at the chance to buy the same one for myself. The peeler blade part is longer than the blade on my Oxo Good Grips peeler. The swivel 18/10 stainless blade is precision ground and beveled, and is very sharp and works well when used by lefties or righties. It can go in the dishwasher and is guaranteed not to rust for 10 years. The one my mom has is probably 50 years old, always goes in the dishwasher, and hasn't rusted yet. I like the handle (easy to hold and use) and overall it is very easy to peel with. Under 6 dollars, so how can you lose? Definitely my favorite peeler. I don't know about earlier reviews claiming it's not the "real" Jonas, this peeler came in a Jonas package and is clearly stamped with the name. It's the "real thing."

Simple is the best!!!
Top notch peeler, eye "notcher" is a bust.

Love! Threw every other device used for peeling out of the house! Only one disappointment, the little scooper to pop out eyes isn't sharp enough. Really have to dig to get in there. If it was sharper, definitely be a 5 star.
good product

Good product, although not quite as comfortable as I had hoped. I need to be careful with how I hold it. I have used this style before without this issue. Very sharp and peels well.
A PEELER THAT FINALLY WORKS!!!
June 17, 2014
I purchased the Linden Sweden Jonas Peeler, the Rosle peeler and the Ktchenaid peeler as well as a peeler from the local Wally world. They all were total crap except for the Linden peeler. The other peelers consisted of me butchering the potato after five minutes and that was just one potato folks. I had my previous peeler for years and did not know how exhausting it would be to replace it. Not sure why companies have decided to saddle us with these poser peelers. I'm sure it has something to do with the bottom dollar. Anyway, I recommend this peeler. It is not as great as my old one, but it works!
Linden Sweden Jonas Peeler

Very good inexpensive peeler. It is sharp and peels easily, but tends to take off a little more skin than I'd like. That is probably because I'm used to having to apply more pressure with my old, dull peeler. This has a slightly larger handle than the basic inexpensive peelers one sees around. That makes it easier to hold.

Nice. Works great. White coating makes it comfortable but white handle after once use is now stained carrot orange
Almost there
June 6, 2017
It's tough to find a handle for my small hands that is actually comfortable. While this peeler works well, and is modeled after the design that I prefer, its handle is just a bit too big for me to comfortably peel anything.
Just okay.

It's okay...Need to apply much more pressure to get an effective, clean peel off a carrot. Trying to replace an Ekco peeler from 40+ years ago but apparently there isn't a sharp bladed, easy to handle utensil out there. The old Ekco could skin a potato with virtually no pressure and no "clogging". The search continues....
It's OK

Design-wise, nothing beats these simple peelers. This one (stamped Jonas and Made in Sweden) is OK, but not perfect. The standard of perfection is the old Ecko "Nee Action" peeler made in the USA. Why perfect? The handle is wider and fits more comfortably in the hand than this Jonas. The handle of the old Ecko is also textured with a square pattern stamped into the steel, which makes it nice and grippy. There is also a bit more heft to the Ecko. The handle on the Jonas is longer, but it's too narrow in proportion to the length so any advantage for larger hands is compromised. The Jonas is indeed sharp and it works, but no need to get carried away with 5-star accolades.
OK

The blade is sharp which is good. Maybe I'm just used to peeling potatoes with a knife. Although the tool peels very nice and takes off very little it took me much longer than using a knife to cut potatoes. I might have preferred a rubber grip handle. A good tool and for someone used to peeling with one I'm sure they would be satisfied.

Well made and comfortable in the hand. Just doesn't peel very well.
Handle is too flimsy
July 11, 2017
Lasted less than a month. The blade is sharp and the handle is flimsy. I was peeling potatoes and the handle bent when I was gripping it firmly. This caused the blade to fall out. The design maybe the same as the ones my Mother and Grandmother used but the quality is not the same.
Doesn't swivel freely
June 27, 2017
It's sharp, but it doesn't swivel freely and that slows down the peeling process. For as much as I paid I expected much more.
Found my old one (this style but without the white vinyl coating on the handle) for 0.98 at a big box store. It works perfectly.
Donated this to charity.
I expected more

This peeler slipped off of our potatoes. I am used to the OXO peeler with rubber base and it seems quite a bit sharper (gets the job done right).
quality is about 1/2 price

No better than $3.95 kitchen Aid item, dull blade, so so quality, the other product Linden Sweden Soft Grip Handle ~$14.00 is much better for money

Not user friendly

Not sharp...there are better more ergonomic peelers out there. The Farberware with a ceramic blade works much better due to sharp blade and ergonomic handle.
Warped on first use

This warped on first use. Get the Rada Cutlery one instead. Rada Cutlery R132 Vegetable Peeler with Aluminum Handle
total disappointment
October 26, 2016
i bought this based on good reviews. I have gone through several peelers trying to find a good one after my 1970s grocery store hand me down broke. This one did fling peels away (which was an issue with other peelers) but did a terrible job cutting. I had to go over again and again at times only getting a quarter inch peel and sometimes nothing! I peel carrots and like them to peel from start to end of carrot. It shouldnt take several minutes to peel a carrot! Forget about potatoes! it just won't cut them. Its not worth the expense to return it so my duds are stacking up. Why can't they make quality products like they used to?
Didn't get the original
March 18, 2016
I did not get what was pictured and described. I got a brand called Mainstays which I see in Walmart a lot. When I tried the peeler I could not even get it to work it was so bad. For our St. Patrick's day corned beef and cabbage dinner the carrots were rather mangled and unsightly. I returned it. A friend gave me one found at an old fashioned general store type place and it is so sharp and easy to use it is amazing.

pretty chinsey... not what i was looking for. not heavy or solid at all.
Very Dissapointed!
April 7, 2012
I ordered 3 peelers all the same style to try out. This was the second best but only because the worst was really bad. I do not agree with the previous reviews of this item. Looking at the dates of them I can only surmise that I have been sent a different peeler. This peeler is an extremely cheap knock-off of the true made-in-Sweden peelers. It is not stamped "Made in Sweden" The handle is small and uncomfortable. The blade is dull. Don't be fooled into purchasing it. Buy "Fruit and Vegetable Peeler with Sleeve by Sveico' by SCI Scandicrafts" and you won't be disappointed.
