Great picture! We purchased this refurbished television and it is just perfect for our large family room. The picture is clear and precise and the sound is spot on. We now have three Samsung flat screen televisions and they do not disappoint.

I received my TV the other day (in pretty formidable packaging - a smaller box surrounded by weird packing material inside a larger box - no broken parts like others have complained about) and just set it up today. So far I love it. My biggest YES! - moment came when I realized it had a mini-jack audio-out so I could hook up my Sennheiser wireless headphone's transmitter directly to the TV without going through fancy adapters and jump through RCA plug hoops just to get them working (as I did for my LG 43" which only had optical audio-out). Other reviewers here have complained about the lack of background depth and grey-toned backlight in low ambient light and I'm not a fanatic videophile, but I don't see it. The blacks are black and the picture looks great - it really does upscale the HD to UHD-esque on non-UHD programming. I took the advice to view some 4K/UHD videos on YouTube and I was sufficiently impressed. Set-up was beyond easy and after punching in my Netflix and Amazon passwords (and upgrading to Netflix UHD - an extra 4bucks/mo.) I was ready to go. So far I only have 2 minor complaints: 1. the plastic base of the TV is pretty flimsy - I tightened the screws as far as they could go without stripping them and it still kinda wobbles (I wonder what will happen in an earthquake here in So. Cal.). 2. When you activate the mute button a little "speaker with a slash through it" icon flashes up and down the left side of the screen. No big deal except that when I use the headphones I have to mute the TV's sound and the flashing icon was annoying. The only way to turn it off is to turn the volume on the TV down to zero. Luckily, the headphones themselves have a volume switch, so it's not a horrible thing. So, after a few hours of happiness - and especially because I was able to get it on sale on Amazon for $499.00 - I have to say I'm pretty impressed. We'll see what the future brings...
A great TV for the Money!
December 16, 2015
Please folks if you did not know when reading reviews use the selection option to pick the size screen you want to review...from what I gather Samsung makes all the panels for their 65 inch and larger sets(maybe 60?) and that makes a HUGE(Trump Voice) difference. This review is for the 65inchI do not remove stars for shipping issues and this one had boatloads of them....Used Amazon installer and that was flawless.Picture is excellent...if your buying a sub $1500 dollar TV like I did you are not a super serious image geek so do not judge it like one. That being said this TV is great...there are a lot of setting to play with and turn off....dimming, echo, some other ones. Once you get a handle on that then the picture looks great. I was able to manipulate the setting with some online help and get a pretty good one setting fits all setup. The fun though is switching between the 4 settings to see which looks best for what you are viewing..Sports, Movies, TV etc. For example I decided to check out a 4K show from Amazon Prime and it looked ok in Standard but switch it to Dynamic it was like the people were in my living room and not in that Soap Opera effect way(turn that off first thing). The remote has a "Sports" button on it which is fun...it changes the sound and picture and it makes the football field look sort of neon green and the picture really bright then you turn that off....but funny thing is you keep going back to it...I am sure I will grow tired of it but def is a fun feature. The remote is ok overall however with so many options it would have been great to have 4 separate buttons for the 4 different TV settings and since you do a lot of input with the remote the arrow keys being bigger, back lit and further from the exit key should have been a must.So far it has only been a few days but I have watched a movie, football, regular TV, 4K content, Netflix, Amazon Prime....for Video games you should switch to gaming mode. DO NOT be afraid to play with the settings, you can always restore it to factory setting. Check out a calibration web site and follow their lead.Wireless set up in a second and I was streaming right away and the apps were easy to use. My 5 year old had Netflix working in a minute. I may add a sound bar down the road and will update when I do.Again read the reviews for THIS SIZE Tv and not the other sizes. I almost cancelled this TV and got a more expensive one and I am thrilled I did not. I believe the only difference from my research between this and the JU6500 is a few extra ports. I do not see it being an issue for me.
The television itself is quite nice with an incredible image and very easy setup
December 8, 2015
The television itself is quite nice with an incredible image and very easy setup. It's quite an improvement to our plasma that it replaced and that was a nice set with an excellent picture. We watched one UHD documentary from Amazon Prime and the picture was nothing short of stunning. I'd recommend this set for anyone with average needs. The delivery process from Amazon was another story. The purchase included free white glove delivery with a set delivery time. We were scheduled to receive our set on a Friday afternoon, on Wednesday we received a notice that stated that there were delivery issues and that we needed to make a new appointment.I made a new appointment for the following Monday and the set was subsequently delivered. The delivery person in charge was rude and condescending according to my wife. Also when I looked at the tracking information provided by the delivery company it showed my set having been delivered to their local site two days before the original delivery date so it seems that I was denied my original delivery date due to some failure on their part to meet their commitments.Sadly more and more of my Prime deliveries seem to be missing their promised dates, Amazon needs to do things better as we do have other options.
How To Get Rid of The SOAP OPERA EFFECT and enjoy this beautiful 4K TV... :-)
December 2, 2015
Disclaimer: I bought this TV at BestBuy only because it was five minutes away and Amazon/Best Buy price match. That said...This is a beautiful TV and recently I learned that the "too real" look can be fixed!!! It's called the Soap Opera Effect and there's lots of videos on Youtube if you use that word in the search bar. However, I'm going to save you time by saying it comes down to adjusting the judder setting. Here's how you do it...Click on Picture> Picture Options> Scoll down to Auto Motion Plus>Click Custom. You should see a slider bar called JUDDER. Scroll to 0 (Zero) and you have a standard TV look. Scroll to 10 (Ten) and you have the Soap Opera Effect (everything looks like behind the scenes on a set.) ~ The closer you are to zero, the lesser the SOE. For me, a nice balance is 5 on this TV, but adjust it to your liking. :-)Back to my review: Now that's out of the way, I like how Netflix, Youtube, and other stations can come up quickly. It has a quad-core processor and is very responsive to me. It transitions easily from cable to my PS4 to Netflix, depending on which HDMI I want. Folks, keep in mind - this is a 4K TV... most of these cost several thousand dollars. In five years or so, they will only be a few hundred bucks. This price point of $599 for a 48" as of this posting - is one hella of a deal. Can't go wrong - go ahead and buy it!

Great

I use this as a Pc monitor, the picture looks great and 4k is stunning even the older games just look very clean and crisp. For the price this is a good buy. Also my ps4 looks just a bit better maybe due to the better 1080p picture from my old 1080p panel. Once u game in 4k there is no going back some games just look absolutely gorgeous.
Good job Sony!
January 12, 2016
Excellent TV. I was skeptical about having Android as my "Smart TV OS" but its performance (with the Dec '15 update to 5.1.1) is excellent. My old Sony HDTV was just over the 5 year mark. I guess I was afraid that the newer Amazon Instant Video app would be worse but am pleasantly surprised to find that's much improved. This TV feels a lot like my older model but just improved (in almost every way.) The up-scaled 4K picture quality is amazing with my Sony Blu-Ray player. And there's nothing like watching NFL playoff games in 4K!Very happy to have a dedicated heaphone jack with this TV for late-night viewing. The headphone volume is adjustable from the remote so you never have to unplug the headphones! (The jack placement could have been better but won't complain!)BTW, the built-in speakers are not bad. I read complaints about these and I love them. They're much better than my old Sony 40" HDTV.My only nitpicks so far:1. The default picture settings are pretty awful in my opinion. This is clearly subjective but I prefer the Sony vivid profile on all of my sources. A few tweaks and the color hue/saturation and sharpness is perfect.2. Sony changed from a standard 3-Prong A/C socket to a 2-Prong A/C cord that isn't removable nor long enough. Bah!3. While in apps, I cannot access the sleep timer w/o having to exit the app, go back into HOME menu and then set a timer. I then have to re-launch my app. This is OK but in the previous OS I could set a sleep timer from any source and not lose my source.4. The remote is fine and lightweight but it's a little busy. The buttons are clumped together so you have to really be sure you're pressing the correct one. Also there's no finger groves or button nibs to let you know what button you're on -- such as Volume or Channel. A NETFLIX button??? Really? I wonder how much they paid Sony for that one! This could have been designed better.5. The update process takes FOREVER!February 2016 Update:Sony released a software update and unfortunately a few bugs have regressed. My Amazon Instant Video app seems to get corrupted after watching videos that I have to reset it and re-enter my username and password. Not a huge deal but it's happened multiple times now and gets annoying. I've hit a few "crashes" while setting the sleep timer. Crashes on the TV are not very graceful. The TV will just immediately switch off and reboot. (You can tell it's rebooting because you see the Google color swirl logo.)Hopefully the March update will make the current update back to being stable again. The Android OS is still 5.1.1 -- would be interesting if they could move to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.May Update: Haven't had any Amazon issues in a while now. Everything seems more stable on that end. The only quirk I have now is with the Android O/S randomly locking up when I'm pressing the buttons (usually while searching for movies or TV shows.) (The TV no longer accepts remote input.) The only solution is to remove the remote's battery and that usually clears it up and the remote is working again. Was able to download and install the Masters Android app which allowed me to watch exclusive Masters Golf tournament coverage in real 4K video (meaning the cameras used on course where actually capturing 4K data) and it was streamed over the internet to the TV. The first day was quite choppy but the next three days were nearly flawless and the quality was stunning.
Two Installation bumps but well worth it.
November 18, 2015
I didn't think we needed a new TV.My wife disagreed so we ordered the XBR43X830C.It arrived a day before it was supposed to.Two bumps in the installation.First, there is no master On/Off switch on the back but the Installation Guidepacked with the unit insisted there was. Three sets of eyes searched for ituntil we finally gave up.The other bump we had in installation was inputting the WiFi Password. No alpha keys are on the remote and no on screen keyboard was displayed. The manual was of little help. Finally I chose the on screen option of "Manual Input" and up came an onscreenkeyboard. The device upscales everything to a remarkable level of clarity.
EASILY the best TV for the price.

There isn't a single thing I don't love about this TV. The biggest advantage that it has is that It is very flexible in its software, meaning that it practically lets me stream anything digital, connect USB to see any file, install apps from third parties (cough: Kodi and Grand theft Auto), it supports bluetooth, beautiful 4k screen, built in streaming, many connections allow for USB, RCA connections, older Antenna connections, enough HDMI plugins, beautiful medal frame, very slim, and overall worth every penny.

September 15, 2015
Hey there. I just set this thing up yesterday - so far so good. I'm not as big a videophile as some of the reviewers so I'll just say it looks great and the stand assembly was simple. I am however, a long time android user and google user and I did want to post something I thought might be helpful...Run the initial software update - don't give up. I had the spinning blue thing along with the ethernet cable unplugged symbol for nearly an hour. I waited it out and the update completed without a hitch. Very nice unit and it's nice to have access to netflix and amazon via an ethernet connection without plugging cable directly into the tv (I run the cable to my tivo).
I was happy with it at $1300
June 1, 2015
I bought this 4K UHTV to replace a Panasonic 42" plasma that died. I bought the Sony when it was priced at $1300. Now it's $800. I did get the difference back from BB, since they honored their low price guarantee.A brand-new Sony 43" 4K for $800? Yep. I was happy with it at $1300, now I'm absolutely delighted. This TV has one of the best pictures I have ever seen. And for me, that's the bottom line. Netflix in 4K, which was added 5/31/15, has to be seen to be believed. It really is as good as you've heard. So is YouTube in 4K. Amazon Prime Instant Video in 4K isn't here yet, but the 1080 version is, and it looks great.Every source you play through this TV is upscaled to 4K, and everything looks wonderful. Regular TV, recorded HD TiVo programs, streaming shows, Blu-Ray, AppleTV, the Playstation 4, and even a PC when using this as a computer monitor. Plus, I use a Google Nexus 6 smartphone, which shoots video in 4K. I uploaded some clips to YouTube and they look insanely good on the TV. Everything looks better than ever.It has a lot of inputs: 4 HDMI (all support 4K) 3 USB, one component, one composite, ethernet, antenna, etc. One great feature, for those of us who have older AV receivers without HDMI capability - all the audio that enters this set, whether HDMI, streaming, OTA or analog, is output via the digital optical cable. So I can just leave my receiver on TV input, and everything comes out great. It does produce surround sound - but the 5.1 lights on my receiver don't come on. No big deal - the surround sound is excellent. To use this for 4K streaming, you will need fast internet. But that's true of every 4K set. I have 75/75 and it's great. The only issue is sometimes on YouTube or Netflix 4K, the picture stutters a bit from time to time. It will stop...and a second later start again. I'm not sure whether that's this TV, or my internet. I'm going to try a test with the Nvidia Shield 4K STB, to see if that stutters, too. I'll let you know.In a way, this TV is like an enormous smartphone. It's powered by Android TV, using Google's Lollipop OS. It has apps like a phone, has to be updated like a phone, and even needs the occasional restart like a phone. It connects to the Google Play store, as well as Google Music and Movies.Sony is gradually releasing the software for this set over time, when it becomes available. A lot of it is just being approved for Android TV. That's why Netflix just came out - Google just released 4K Netflix for Android TV three days ago. I believe a browser will arrive soon, along with Amazon 4K, and perhaps Ultraflix (4K movies). So far, the updates happen every two weeks, on Sunday morning. So we'll see what, if anything, we get June 14th.This model is Sony's entry level 4K. It does not come with the voice-activated remote, and does not feature some of the the ultra-high-end picture elements the huge screens do. But I had to fit this into a specific cabinet, and I needed this exact size screen. For me? The unbelievable picture quality, the price, the features and the size make it a home run.

We love this T
September 8, 2017
We purchased this T.V. 2 years ago. It was one of our first purchases from Amazon. We love this T.V. screen quality is so good. Voice quality is good. It never had a single problem up to now. so I can say it is durable. The size is also something in the middle. Not too big and not too small. I would love to get a curve T.V. after this, but this is still good for me
The overall picture quality is awesome and the sound quality too
April 10, 2017
I bought the TV as a Black Friday deal on 2015. The overall picture quality is awesome and the sound quality too. I use the built in speakers and I was not using any external audio output device. I use it on a mid volume range and sometimes I feel the sound could be better. From the software perspective, some times I find it frustrating to work with it. Some times it's non responsive, some times the network is not connected. But for all these issues what I do is I restart the TV. ( Turning off and turning on again). Apart from the software issue I had no other issues. I connect my PS4 also for this and could not find any noticeable issues. The USB drives and movies are working fine too. Overall I can recommend this product to anyone interested.
Excellent picture, so-so streaming apps
April 21, 2016
This review is for the Samsung UN48JU6400 48-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2015 Model). Got this as a second set and I got a good price on Amazon. Can't speak to the longevity but as of now, this is a keeper.I am very pleased with the picture quality of this set. I am running content through a Roku 4 4K streaming box, with a 65 mbs network connection and am getting a fantastic picture. Just factor in to your expectations, that whatever "box" you are running content through needs to handle 4K, in order to get the best picture. I was initially running stuff through a Tivo Mini cable TV box that I didn't realize was limited to 720p, and the picture on this set was merely excellent. I returned that (will hold out for an upgraded incarnation) and am now running streaming through a Roku 4 and WOW, on the picture!!!There are A LOT of picture quality settings/variables and combinations and I can see where someone might have issues with the "blacks" as several people have mentioned. After playing around with all of the settings, I am really happy with what I'm seeing. However, and maybe I'm missing this, there should be a way to save some of your customized settings, for switching around and viewing different stuff.Another thing I don't like is that when "mute" is turned on, a small speaker with a slash through it, stays on the left side of the screen and continually goes up and down, never disappearing. Bad.The built-in "smart" stuff doesn't affect me because I don't use it, have Roku and whatever the latest/best streaming device is. If I could find a set nowadays without the smart stuff, I'd get that. But, a few attempts to use several of the smart apps within this set showed them performing very badly and I have disabled all of this as best as I could. At around $500 in April 2016, I think this is an excellent value.
Tv is amazing and for the price u can't go wrong

... quality of the picture from my previous non-4K Ultra Smart TV set
December 28, 2015
Unequivocal difference in the quality of the picture from my previous non-4K Ultra Smart TV set. The only thing I noticed is that when I am connecting to Netflix, at first, it tells me that the system cannot connect to Netflix, then to try again. When I try again, it always works (within seconds- not sure if it's an issue with my network or a glitch- it does not do it for Amazon). Choices of audio sound are good with a 5.1 set up in the bedroom.
Great - just missing bluetooth!
December 10, 2015
We bought this TV on cyber Monday for an amazing deal! It came with a sound bar which we thought was really cool until we tried setting it up last night to find out the TV does not have Bluetooth!! We haven't received the rest of our order, but when we do and can finally mount it I think this will be absolutely perfect! I really like that it does not have the huge black border that most TVs have so it gives it a smooth look! The color and resolution are mind blowing, but I did see we can turn down the "holy smokes am I IN this movie?" look!!

Good set

Very nice set for price, the height of stand is not tall enough. Suitable for wall mount.
Perfect UHD for those with a tight space
May 28, 2016
Needed to replace a Samsung 40" model that seemingly went defective after only slightly more than 2 years of weekend use. Samsung customer service sucked so I vowed to find "anything but a Samsung". My previous experience with Sony has been excellent (a 32" unit I bought from Amazon in 2008 is still going strong). This 43-inch LCD set with LED edge-lit back-lighting delivers a quality picture if you are looking for an ultra-HD TV (UHD) that will fit into a smaller space. This model doesn't include many bells and whistles, like a built-in webcam or a touch-screen remote control, but it does have plenty of support for popular streaming services, thanks to its Android TV interface and 4 HDMI ports including one that syncs automatically with a soundbar. The one negative is that during the initial setup, a software update is required. This tends to take a long time (30-45 minutes). Since there is no "progress indicator" of any kind, one can easily worry that either "nothing is happening" or something has gone wrong. Patience is virtue!! Just don't expect it to be "plug-and-play" during the initial setup. Afterwords, no problems. Finally, some might say this set is priced on the high side vs.other ultra-HD sets of this size, but the picture quality, as well as the overall fit-and-finish should dispel those concerns.
Great picture. Great features
March 31, 2016
Pros:Great picture. Great features. 4K upscaling of content like DVDs and blurays looks good overall. I love that i can install Android apps like VLC player and ESFile Explorer to navigate my home network and play virtually any media i want. DLNA video playback using android VLC player is much, much better than using the default DLNA media player and scales videos correctly to the screen. The HDMI audio return connection lets you use the TVs speakers with a stand alone receiver for audio decoding and multiple media device connections even without a home theater speaker system or optical audio connector. Other Sony peripherals like receivers and bluray players integrate seamlessly. Great price. I even got it $100 cheaper before the Superbowl.Cons:These are some real issues that need to be fixed in future firmware updates to this model.1) This TV does not support bluetooth audio device connections. You cannot connect bluetooth headphones or speakers to this TV. This is *not* adequately disclosed in the documentation, but may be a factor in purchasing this device. This is where a standalone receiver with bluetooth compatibility might be usefull. 2) This TV does not have a stable WiFi connection when it goes into standby mode. Probably once or twice a week i have to "forget" and "connect" the WiFi network to re-initialize it. Changing the WiFi setup from DHCP to Static IP helps, but does not eliminate the problem completely. The Video & TV SideView app for your phone or tablet is a must-have. It makes navigation of the TV menus so easy, especially when you have to "type" things into the TV (like WiFi and Netflix passwords).
Picture is great! Easy set up on the internet
March 8, 2016
Picture is great! Easy set up on the internet. And using remote is also easy. Stand is flimsy, and set up of that was not intuitive. If you don't wall mount it, you will need to secure it to the TV stand or whatever you are putting it on. Had it for 2 weeks so far, can't say anything about durability.
Great LED TV! at a Great Lowered Price!
February 18, 2016
Great LED TV! at a Great Lowered Price! After doing the Software Update which took a while, my Xbox 1, Apple T.V., Cable Box and the optical out to my Soundbar took seconds with the 4 HDMI inputs. I still have a lot more features to explore, But i remembered from my older Sony LCD 32" that the picture looks great when you switch the Mode to Vivid then just tweak it a bit. I like the upscale feature, still need to find some 4K content to get the real picture - not sure if Netflix has 4K?So get yours quick at this price before all 2015 models are all done!

Good, not great.

Def a “starter” Ultra HD T.V. Not as many features as other Samsung sets, and sometimes has a mind of it’s own and shuts down. Less impressed than I expected it to be, but still a great picture.
Great TV bad internet
May 16, 2016
The TV picture is incredible however the internet function is very complicated and I have been on the phone several times with Samsung. They say they can do a remote hookup but you better be prepared to wait for a long time.
Good with a few problems
April 19, 2016
Nice picture, decent connectivity options.Losing a half point because every time the TV goes off it doesn't reconnect to other devices over HDMI. It flickered on and off pre update and it still doesn't pick up video in unless you reconnect the cable.(Yes I've talked to Samsung and yes I've tried multiple inputs and cables. No dice.)
Amazing tv...but
February 3, 2016
I've had this TV for a few months now and it is amazing don't get me wrong. Beautiful picture for gaming, movies, and just watching TV. The sound is also amazing. Much better then the Toshiba I had. The dillivery guys were very nice. They got it out of the box checked the TV and the remote, everything worked and looked spotless. About a month and a half after use a very light blue dot has appeared in the top left corner. This dot is easy to ignore but that's not the biggest issue I'm haveing. Though it is rare the screen will black screen. Sometimes it will come back on other times I have to turn the TV off and on, witch so far has fixed it.
Decent TV: Good for Sports, Terrible for Movies & Dramas
January 2, 2016
This review is for the 55-inch TV. Overall, this TV has some moments where it looks like a high quality TV, and many more moments where it looks very mediocre. I ended up returning the TV.Movies/Dramas: I read that the blacks appear grey on this TV, but since I had never experienced that, didn't know exactly how that would affect viewing. Now I know...it makes watching movies or dramatic TV shows (those with darker settings) painful. The whole screen can take on a hazy grey appearance, making any details nearly impossible to pick up. This is the main reason I returned the TV.Sports: Looks clean & crisp, particularly for sports with a bright background. This is the TVs strength -- it features bright colors really well.Smart Hub: The built in wifi on the TV that connects the SmartHub to your internet connection is weak. It leads to a lot of buffering, and very poor streaming quality. If I kept this TV, getting a Roku or similar would have been a mandatory. This is clearly one of the least expensive 4K TVs out there (and with the Samsung brand name), but its performance reflects the price. Some shows look good, some look terrible. I'm going with something a little more expensive to get a more consistently strong performance.
Good price, but features are hit-and-miss
November 10, 2015
For an inexpensive 4K TV, this isn't too bad, but there are some issues. The picture is sharp, motion is smooth, and colors pop very nicely. However, it's rather obvious that Samsung cut some corners to hit this price point. The smart features are nice, but the processor is woefully underpowered to handle basic tasks. It is nice that Samsung included a built-in channel guide for users who watch over-the-air broadcast, but the lag is terrible when scrolling through the guide. Like many modern channel guides, you get a quarter-screen-size picture of the channel you are currently watching and the rest of the screen is taken up by the guide. For whatever reason though, when you scroll through the guide both the guide and the channel you are watching completely stop while the next page takes up to five seconds to load. It's disappointing that this TV can flawlessly stream 4K content, yet can't seem to handle flipping through pages of a channel guide. Regardless, since I consider a channel guide to be icing on the cake and not a core feature, I can overlook that easily. What is harder to overlook is the inconsistent backlight performance. During dark scenes or when watching a program with letterboxes on the top and bottom, there is a very distracting light blob in the bottom center of my screen. This can be fixed somewhat by turning the backlight way down, but the resulting picture is so dim it's hardly worth it. We actually traded in a similarly-priced 2014 Samsung model for this one because it too had backlight problems. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem with at least their lower-end 4K televisions. Samsung also cut back on some features compared to last year's equivalent model, too. You get fewer connections in the rear, and the remote no longer has light-up keys, which kind of stinks if you like to watch TV in the dark.Overall, it's a pretty good TV, but it has some noteworthy flaws. If you can stand a laggy interface and some pretty glaring inconsistencies in the black levels, it's a good TV for the price. If you want a snappy interface and even black levels, look elsewhere.

October 13, 2016
Everything - clarity, color, sound is good. I scored it down because the remote control is difficult to use - not enough buttons if you can believe that so you have to be careful how you hit or manipulate the button or you are off in a totally different menu. Only button that is simple is the on and off one.

Lots of futzing to get it to work with my computer properly. (Even after the upgrade to the firmware). I don't regret the purchase, and it works fine for the most part, but like my Samsung better.

June 26, 2016
The picture is ok but the programming instructions aren't very good. And when you change channels, there's a delay of at least a second. It doesn't sound like that long, but compared to every other tv that instantly changes to the next channel, it's really annoying.

Disappointed
November 5, 2015
In the beginning i never had any problems, now while watching Netflix, Youtube, PBS kids, we lose internet connection and I have to restart the TV and I dont mean on and off, unplug so it reboots and now i have internet again. Then I will need to log in again in Netflix and Pandora never seems to get connected. It gets on your nerves after a while. Its an expensive TV to be having this many issues.

SO SO TV. Pls. Invest in higher end model
July 3, 2017
Good price. Black Friday deal. However, would not get again. WiFi malfunctions on and off again. Had to connect Ethernet cable to avoid resetting TV so the wifi would work. Interface was okay, speed was so so. Overall you're getting an entry level quality 4k tv. I would invest in or wait for an LG OLED tv if possible. If that's not possible go for a mid range Samsung or higher end model.
Audio Sync issue 9 months after purchase
October 19, 2016
There is a delay with audio to lip sync that started 9 months after purchase. I performed factory resets & audio delay adjust and the problem not solved. Contacted Samsung on-line and waiting for tech service since I am still within 1-year warranty. Broadcast TV, Video Streaming Play Station 4 --Are all out of sync on audio. I know this Model is no longer available but buyer wary on another Samsung TV in future.UHD Picture is great. Fast moving objects like sports and action films are not smooth for this low end 4K but was happy with TV (until now)EDIT 10/26/16: Samsung did a software update on Sept 10th that I feel was the cause of the lip sync issue. Samsung service is schedule to look at TV on Oct 28 and hopefully restore sound Synchronization to video
Volume malfunctioned after 9mths
September 7, 2016
Great price at only $495, but after 9mths of light use, the remote has malfunctioned. When you press the volume up or down, the tv volume quickly ticks up to 100. There is not any controls on the TV itself, so this is quite a nuisance.

Screen defective. Samsung Support was very little help...
March 30, 2016
Mine powered up to reveal three fixed 1 cm blue "dots" on the screen when displaying very dark colors. I called Samsung Tech Support, and the guy read from the same script as the troubleshooting tips help in the TV Tools menu, and said that he would schedule a tech to come out. Another tech called the next day - evidently unaware of the first call - and ran through some more troubleshooting steps, then asked me to send them pictures of the front, back, all four sides, the TV box, and each screen spot; which I did. Another tech called the day after that, apparently unaware of the first two calls. Later, a guy called to say that they never received the pictures, so I resent them. The next day, they called to say that the e-mail was received, but was empty...no pictures. I checked my sent e-mails folder and verified that the pictures were there, but resent them again using a different e-mail account. He said that as soon as they received those, someone would call me to schedule a tech. A day and a half later, no calls, so it's unfortunately going back to Amazon...
Dead on Arrival with lackluster support.
December 1, 2015
Bought this through a Black Friday sale directly from Amazon and it was dead on arrival without any display (including menus). Amazon will only refund it and won't replace it. So I contacted Samsung and scheduled service but a couple days later they cancelled the service request without an explanation. I had to call Samsung again and after 30 minutes they finally tell me the repair part is on back order for a couple weeks. This TV has been a nightmare and Amazon has been no help and Samsung is hardly to no better. The only reason it is 2 stars is because Samsung is at least putting forth some effort to repair it. About to just return it and get a working TV from MicroCenter.

Updated with regret.
July 5, 2016
All around excellent tv. My only complaint is it occasionally needs to be reset due to the apps like hulu, amazon, or netflix freezing or having network connection issues or when it cant figure out how to read a usb drive that it has been playing media off of earlier in the day. The sound quality could be better too so i would invest in a sound bar for it as well.Update September 6 2017:Bought it in April of 2016. The tv still has a good picture and sound quality with a slower than expected for price network connection, but the issues with the software of the TV have turned me away from all Sony smart TVs from here on out. Every update to the software has broke something or made something else on the tv worse than when it was bought. When i first bought it i could reorganize apps in a row of "my apps" now it has removed all of them from "my apps" and put them in featured apps row where i have to sort through dozens of apps i have no interest in ever using and cant remove as suggestions to find what i want to use with no option of readding them to "my apps". The volume control lags on it now. a few months ago an update made it so when i press volume up or down on the remote it takes a couple seconds for it to register on the TV and actually change. A different software update made it take about a minute to figure out its internet connection each time i turn the TV on, when i first bought it there was maybe 5 seconds for it to connect and load everything in its interface. There are several other issues that i encounter with it like apps crashing but some of those may be on the app instead either way my Roku tv has no issues with the same apps.I expect the next update to break something else and that in itself is a deal breaker for Sony being an option when it comes time to buy future TV purchases.

May 6, 2016
I mostly watch SD & HD on cable TV. In my opinion the picture quality was not good, only fair and not as good as the 8 Year old Sharp TV it replaced. I could live with SD being less than good but not HD. Picture quality on DVD's was only fair. Picture quality on Blue Ray's was excellent. I used the [...] setting for the TV and was not impressed with the results. I tried all the picture modes and could not get a satisfactory picture. I had no problems with android using a hardwired internet connection. The interface was easy to use. I also had no problems with the remote, a little flimsy but ok. I got the TV Monday and returned on Friday.

Sony said that all of their 4k LED TVs were back-lit, so I picked this one up. Unfortunately, I missed the minute star at the bottom of the commercial that said: *Except for the XBR-43X830C, which is edge-lit. Why make an entire flock of TVs just to diminish your rep with one crap TV? Oh, I get it: *Sony TVs are way overpriced, so let's skimp on one that costs the SAME as everyone else's, but make it lack severely. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because a recent firmware update allows it to receive native 4k signals at 60Hz over HDMI 2.0.

Excellent 43" TV for the bedroom
December 13, 2015
I'll agree with many of the reviewers posting here that if you are in the market for a TV in the 43" range then this is the one to invest in. I own two 2015 Sony TV models (the 55" 1080p model and this 4k one) and they both have excellent picture clarity, great color representation, and excellent motion handling. The fact that you can control both motion smoothing and the cinema smoothing is an excellent feature, and I appreciate the 120hz panels.I know this isn't a huge factor for some, but the aesthetics of the TV are excellent. Really thin bezel and not too thick of a TV from the side. My wife appreciates this factor the most, as it doesn't look too overwhelming as our bedroom TV.I highly recommend you go with the Sony. Great TV with excellent features, and 4k to boot. While the 4k content has a long way to go in being more mainstream, it is cool to have a screen that can play 4k video if we go that way with our camcorders eventually.Update: Well, my TV has developed issues. See the pictures below. I basically have two spots of light bleed through the center of the screen. It is pretty noticeable on all content. I will be going through Sony to try and get a replacement.
Good 4K picture, but too many bugs to live with.
July 8, 2015
Good 4k picture, but the android tv is not the way to go. It crashes and reboots from time to time. Also the HDMI inputs loses their audio and have to connect to another HDMI input, which then the audio is fone. :(( Very disspponted from Sony, I have always been a Sony fan.

Internal crack not covered under warranty!
May 20, 2016
If I could give 0 stars, I would. We bought this Samsung tv about 6 months ago. It has been hanging on the wall in our bedroom ever since we got it. One night, while laying in bed watching tv, I heard a pop. The screen went dark. We still have sound but no picture. There is a spiderweb looking crack across the screen. It is an internal crack-- there is nothing on the outside of the tv. Samsung refuses to even send a technician out to look. Their position is that it is "physical damage" and not covered under warranty. How could we have physically damaged it when no one was even near it! After googling this on the web, I found hundreds of complaints exactly like mine. No one was near the tv when it just popped and then cracked. Long story short, we are out $600 for a tv that lasted 6 months. Samsung support was so poor that we will never buy another Samsung product!
Click.... Click.... Boom?
April 13, 2016
Great when it's on but makes a faint clicking sound when the TV is off. A few seconds after turning off the TV, I hear a very rapid clicking which slows in frequency but is still clicking the next day (maybe 4 clicks per second). Stops immediately if I unplug the power cord or turn the TV back on. Properly assembled electronics don't do this so I expect it won't last very long - and I don't want it to go Boom right after the warranty expires.I also have to adjust the audio / video sync more than once while watching a movie so lips are synced with the voice. The processing lag seems to change every few minutes of the movie. Happens with internal Smart Hub playing Amazon Prime video or from external Blu-Ray. Never touched this setting in two years with same receiver and Blu-Ray when I had an older Samsung TV.I called both Samsung and Amazon who told me this was abnormal and Amazon immediately swapped it out for a new TV. Appreciate Amazon's great service. Unfortunately, the new TV does EXACTLY the same thing.Another Amazon customer reported the same issue (also on two TVs). I could no longer exchange the TV on Amazon because they pulled it from the site after I reported the issue and they inspected their inventory. It is now only available from third party sellers. So Amazon gave me a 20% refund for my trouble and I called Samsung for warranty service.Tech came to my house TWICE and swapped every component in the TV except the panel itself. Same issue. So Samsung declared the TV not repairable and offered to upgrade me to a 2016 Model.Picture is good so I would give this TV more stars if not for these issues. I wouldn't give a poor rating for a single defective product. But at least two customers had this issue on two TV's each, and the replacement parts did not fix it (same defect?). I think it says a lot about the quality of the product. Maybe people who got theirs a few months ago were lucky. In the end, it was a really cheap way to get upgraded to 2016 Samsung UN49KU7000. I'll post a review for that when it arrives.

January 6, 2016
The TV has two dark (blue) spots in the middle of the screen, easily visible when the TV is displaying bright colors like white. The white color is also slightly darker (grey) on the right hand side of the screen. I moved to another state and noticed this. Then I requested a replacement, however, after almost a month I haven't received the new TV. The replacement service keeps using my old address for pick up/delivery.

Do Not Buy this Television
May 29, 2017
We buy allot of merchandise from Amazon, I mean allot! I have to say that this is probably the worst purchase we've ever made. The Sony XBR43X830C worked fine initially for your basic user that just wants to watch TV - we don't play video games or expect perfect resolution, etc. so this review isn't about all that. Really, no complaints at first but then it randomly began to lag on startup and randomly shut itself off. From there things got worse ie. error messages popping up at random for no reason, no control on volume, goes to black screen with volume only, etc. Basically the exact same problems other purchasers have reported "Program Guide Isn't Responding", "Launcher Not Responding" etc. Tech support at Sony is really no help at all, especially since its now out of warranty - they don't have any interest in helping, just unplug your TV and then plug it back in, see everything works! We even tried a factory reset, complete waste of time. Don't believe random 'Ralph' responding to all the complaints with 'We regret to hear that your device's performance failed to meet your needs' that really doesn't get to heart of the matter which is: why is this such a reoccurring issue and how can it be permanently fixed? Stop selling these TV's to people if you don't have a real solution to address the problem. Sony has no credibility in my book as they fail to stand behind and support their products that are out of initial warranty when clearly this is either a manufacturing or software related issue. Otherwise are we supposed to believe a Sony TV is disposable after only a year or two? So if you bought this TV or any other Sony product please think again and consider returning it.
Defective Screen, Four randomly positioned bright lights behind screen.
October 5, 2016
EDIT: Adding photos of the replacement screen, dead pixels in two sections and same white light/bright crack behind screen, this time in top right. Strange green hue in bottom right only.I just received my TV tonight and it was shipped to me in the retail package. When turning it on and using it, it became quickly apparent I had the same issue as one of the other reviewers, that being 4+ bright white lights throughout the screen. This is NOT edge bleed, these are what look like bright sections or lights behind the glass of the screen that appear behind the image you're looking at. I've attached a picture showing the two in the center left lower section. My father also purchased one of these and I went straight over to his house to look at his screen for comparison. Same issue, he had 2 of the bright white lights. That's three people have I've seen having this issue which leads me to believe that this is a defect. I've ordered a replacement in the hope that it is not widespread and have my fingers crossed that I will get a screen that is fit for purpose.Forgetting about the screen defects, I tried to watch a youtube video last night and it wouldn't connect even post software update. I have 150mbps from Cox and have a hard time believing that it is my connection.Sony XBR43X830C 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2015 Model)

Green Tint on Component Input Issue?? Confirmed!
December 6, 2015
Update 1/20/2016:Happened again last night on the replacement TV. Now need to plan on researching another model to replace this defective TV. Will need to send this TV back as well. What a pain this is becoming.Update 1/16/2016:Bad news. The replacement TV has shown the same issue with the green tint. I suspect that the issue is with this particular model. My advice to any other potential buyers of this TV is if you are planning on using component input stay away from this model unless you like green tinted images.Update 1/10/2016:Still having the green Tint issue on the Component input. I was hoping I wouldn't have to request an exchange but I am tired of having to constantly unplug the TV to reset the issue. Hopefully the replacement will not suffer from this. I added some pictures so you can see the issue with the green tint.I have had this TV for 3 Days and have verified it works Great for watching Amazon Prime, and Blu-rays on HDMI. Very clear sharp crisp images. (Thought it is a slightly dimmer TV then my old 42" Sharp LCD from 2007 even on maximum brightness.)I have had an issue which I experienced today (12/6/2015) where it was showing tint of green on Component input (Green/Blue/Red/Red/White cables). (I have my Comcast cable box connected thru component, since I have all four HDMI ports used up.) At first I thought the issue was my cable box. But since I have it also connected to my PC and it wasn't showing the issue, I then thought it must be the component cable, so I swapped the cable with the PC component cable but issue stayed the same, and the TV component cable worked fine on my PC. I tested other inputs such as HDMI and YouTube and they did not show this symptom. The green tint issue was only on component input. So then I checked online and saw that other people have seen this issue before on some older Sony TVs. One suggestion was to unplug the TV for 60 seconds an then try again. So I decided to unplug the TV for half an hour or so while I did some errands. I came back and plugged it back in, sure enough that solved it and the green tint issue went away. I hope this was just a fluke and it doesn't come back so I'm crossing my fingers because so far I really like this TV for all it's inputs including it having a separate composite input (Yellow/Red/White cables) for my old N64.
Would not have bought if I knew it was going to function this poorly.
November 4, 2015
DO NOT BUY. This TV is a buggy pile of garbage. It constantly looses it's internet connection, it's ability to connect to Amazon, and it's programmed TV channels for broadcast. It will randomly turn off and the controls from the remote routinely freeze. When it's working it looks great, but you never know when you sit down to use it if it will behave or if you're going to have to again reset routers, power cycle tv, and enter all you credentials.
Great TV if you don't use Sony's version of Android TV
August 18, 2015
Update: Mar 5, 2016 Backlight partially failed. TV is real dim now. Also, Android TV operating system has been automatically updated numerous times resulting in old bugs returning when new ones are fixed. It crashes every few days. I don't recommend it. Very disappointing considering the cost. Changed to 1 star. The TV has an excellent picture, best in this size, but I am deducting stars because Sony's version of Android TV is very buggy. Expect frequent crashes, blank screens, some apps like Pluto TV will crash the sound requiring the TV to be unplugged before it's corrected. No way to pin recommendations so they will frequently disappear. The built in search function defaults to voice, but the voice remote is not included with this TV. No way to change.Sony really needs to put a lot of work into this interface because right now, it's far inferior to the experience that can be found on a Roku or Amazon Fire TV.UPDATE: Aug 25 - Soon after I posted this review, Sony issued a software update that has apparently fixed all the stability issues that I mentioned. So I'm upgrading to 5 stars.
