Side by Side Comparison of: Cadet vs King Electric

I replaced an old baseboard heater, mostly for cosmetic reasons. However, this seems to give out heat more quickly than my old one and looks more modern than the one I replaced. I cannot speak for the installation, as I had someone else swap out the old one, but he did not seem to have any problems replacing an existing one and got it done quickly. It was a good fit in terms of trying to replace my old heater with one of a similar size. The only thing I would recommend is that the product should automatically come with a thermostat switch. I did not realize I would have to buy it separately until I saw the thermostat listed as a recommended item that people usually buy along with the product. When I looked at the picture closely, I realized I had better buy a thermostat as one did not appear in the image. Others seem to have given it a good rating, so I decided to buy it since the price was reasonable. I will definitely look into buying this brand again when I decide to replace other heaters in my home if this one is still holding up in terms of reliability.

I replaced an older baseboard heater and this one is quiet, quick to heat (compared to the old one) and puts out good, even heat. Used in a 12X13 bedroom... more than adequate. Used a Double-Pole, Cadet Thermostat (the old one just had a knob on the end of the unit) and it's WELL WORTH IT! Easier access and much more accurate.

Bought this for my office for under my desk.. works great and I'm so happy. Love the control on it so I can adjust the heat.

This heater had a piece that had come off or had not been installed at all. But my husband and I got the piece attached and love how the heater works. Will probably be purchasing another one soon.

These were purchased to use in a couple of our guest bed rooms. We don't need to heat them all the time and didn't want the expense of permanent heat runs.

Use this is my plant room, kept everything from freezing. My geraniums were still blooming all winter, Arkansas Ozarks winters are in Zone 7 .

Electric heat is good because it requires no maintenance and can be turned on quickly. But it is expensive and these heaters have to run high when it is really cold outside. I like the simplicity, but not the cost of using them.

The unit arrived in great condition WITHOUT any damage. The instructions were easy to follow but I would recommend having an electrician install it since it requires connection to household hard wiring. I installed it using a Cadet double-pole thermostat and it functioned properly as soon as I turned it on. There was a smell that came from the unit when I first turned it on but that smell went away after about 5 minutes of operation. So far the unit has functioned flawlessly and it does heat a 12' X 12' room sufficiently. I am very pleased with the product and it functions as advertised -- no problems so far.

Nice look to the unit, heat as expected. Replaced older, multi-painted unit.

The only thing that can be improved is even heat through out the heating element

I purchased two of these heaters and a Honeywell RLV3120A1005/H Digital Non-Programmable Thermostat for Electric Baseboard Heating to use in our gameroom. They provide supplemental heat when we use that area.

This heater performed as expected, does not get excessively hot on outside, has been perfect for kids bedroom on outer wall.

This heater had mixed reviews but I decided to give it a try, if did not work well I could return it. I placed the heater in my massage room and it took approximatley over night to warm the room. It has a built in thermostat which maintains the room temperature. I do not think it would work well in a larger room but for a small room I endorse this product.

I've had this heater over a week now, and it works well. It's very simple, and appears durable and sturdy. The front panels are removeable for cleaning, and one slid during shipping but was easy enough to slide back into place. Despite being metal, the top panel, although hot, was not hot enough to burn myself on after the heater had been on 15 minutes.However, at 1000 watts, its not the strongest heater you can get and takes a bit of time to heat larger rooms.

Simple and easy to install

Heater works well even though it doesn't have a fan. It gives a slow and even heat. Wiring documentation is unclear. The heater I received had the face brackets mounted in the wrong place. Luckily this doesn't show up to badly with the covers on.

It heat the space and is reliable! Just what it is supposed to do!

Worked well until today and it got down to zero degrees.not keeping my 16x8 insulated front porch 72 degrees?I would have thought a 240 volt heater would have had more power..somewhat disappointed

came broken, have to ship it back.....

after multiple emails, returns videos on you tube, in the end i did receive a heater that works.

It has a modest ability to heat. Probably not enough if in a severe climate and bad house insulation but it worked well enough for me for a while. It kept an even temperature. A couple of weeks in it developed a quiet hum or buzz. Loud enough to be distracting when quiet so I returned it.

the heater did not work when I tried to turn it up the control did not respond.

Three was purchased but one didn't work so I sent back for a refund. The other 2 are fine. Dwayne

I purchased this heater early in January, 2014, to place under a north-facing drafty window in a bedroom. The first heater I received was dented at one end and one of the feet was broken off; I contacted Amazon, who send me another immediately. The second one works well and does what I want - which is keep the bedroom a bit warmer. It is taller and bulkier than I had hoped. I have older Berko and Sears heaters that are more discrete. The heavy electrical cord is at the wrong end of the heater for my space and not long enough to plug into the wall socket. I added a surge protector, extending the length a few feet. I don't feel very secure about this, so I check it often.

not enough heat

I bought two of these units, they arrived with all the heating element supports broken in both units! I had to remove the elements, drill out the crapy method they used to connect them and put it back together with nuts and bolts. Metal was so thin I couldn't use self tapping screws.Don't buy this brand!

I wound up returning this. It came slightly damaged and it made me think it would not withstand very much use. It also appeared to be missing some pieces.

Does not come with an adjustable thermostat and couldn't wire a thermostat in. There is no on/off switch either. Had to resort to calling an electrician. Instructions were horrible and had to find you tube videos just to figure out how to install. Made a horrible smell when first turned on.

The thin sheet metal fins are just floating in the box without any padding. I returned the first one, but the second one was also damaged. I finally just bent everything back in place the best I could and consider it a lesson learned. The heat is adequate for a 120v portable heater, and it's quiet, but don't expect to heat a large room with this alone.

Thermo only worked in highest position. Dent on metal housing surrounding thermo. After a week, one of the plastic feet inexplicably broke. Will try a replacement hoping it will arrive in good shape and work properly.

I've had this for 10 months now and while it works marginally in a 12 x 17 foot room, my only major complaint is the loud buzzing noise it makes sporadically. The buzzing may last for 5 minutes or longer and is quite annoying. It is also cheaply made and the metal parts do not exactly have a very trim and fit look. (Like there are easily seen gaps between end parts.) I'll continue to use it, but would not buy it if I knew what I now know.

i honestly don't think this does much at all. i live in Long Island, New York and we went through a brutal winter this year. bought one of these for the area near sliding glass door. don't think it does much at all. probably a waste of money. also, the unit they first sent was defective and they had to send me a new thermostat. not hard to install, but still not what you want when you buy something new.

When it turned on, it did produce heat, but I had to turn the thermostat all the way to the right before it would turn on at all. I'm not sure if this is some quirkiness with the thermostat, or if mine was broken, but decided to send it back and get a more conventional space heater.

Packaging looked ok opened and heater was bent multiple places

Not for a house that only heats with wood. We have a smaller house and needed some extra heat in the bedroom but you cannot even feel this heater! You have to get down next to it and even then I can only feel a little heat on my hand if I stick it right on it. Not worth the money!

The heater arrived in a box that was torn at both ends. The heater itself was in complete disarray; the heating element had disengaged from the wall-side cover, both end covers were warped, and the front cover was loose in the box. I had to re-assemble the entire heater before mounting it and, quite honestly, I'm not sure it will stay together if anyone bumps it.

Steel is so thin. It came in damaged due to improper packaging. I've compared it to the old Cadet heater and it's twice lighter than Cadet made in 1990. I hate it.

This heater had good reviews, BUT what they don't say is that it takes an electrician to install! It doesn't even have a thermostat. I just needed a baseboard heater that PLUGS in, not one that is not complete and has to be wired in.

When I purchased this item it was described as 24", however when I received it it was actually 27",not as advertised.

Provides very little to the room, came damaged.

Ordered 3 last year. None are working now.

Drys air very quickly, not good for small office. Heat element still smells after few weeks.

not even a month and its stop working!! FRAUD! i want a refund! first you deliver it broken and have dents. and now its stop working! what a waste!

Mfg makes crap product. no packaging around product just shipped in a box. 1st one was damaged and returned. the 2nd replacement product was lost by UPS. 3 attempt was damaged also, plastic leg was sticking through the box one side of the leg was broken off and thermostat was dented but surprise this unit actually had an on/off switch (how nice) The 3rd one seems to heat up but so did the 2nd one for one night. I would not suggest buying from this manufacturer
