I am writing this review on the PC, it is awesome...
I bought this to replace my 9 year old X300...which I adored, as the best PC competoitor to the MacBook air, and it exceeds expectations on all fronts...
1) The Awesome: Stunningly thin, I love the keyboard (But I don't touch type, i hunt & Peck, if you touch type it may have a different layout...I dont know), the monitor contrast and Brightness are perfect (Mine is non-touch sensitive)...the layout, the whole thing
2) Battery Life is fine 4 - 5 hours
2) I got Windows 7, as I am used to it, and just loaded Office 360 and will upgrade to Windows 10 for free soon.
The Slightly less than awesome:
1) As configured when you get it, the software is problematic...There are two things you MUST do, to make it work
a) Get all the recent patches for Lenovo and for Windows installed...ESPECIALLY the Lenovo fingerprint reader driver, which causes the PC to hang
b) Remove the McAfee antivirus trial, it is a total pain in the ass, and very difficult to remove (Control Panel cant do it...you must get Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR) from mcAffee...
I loaded AVG (professional), MalwareBytes and SearchandDestroy (Which I run as standard oall our home PCs), and it runs fantastic now...but if you are unfamiliar with PC configuration, I can see how this could all be overwhelming...It is stupid that Lenovo ships the PCs with a configuration that does not work - but I don't care, as I can sort all this out...

Excellent product. But be careful to get the correct model. The first one I purchased had a connection that did not fit my laptop -- although my laptop is a Yoga, it was not the correct generation of Yoga. The company who sold it to me through Amazon was very helpful on the phone and in allowing me to return one model and buy another.
4K and Multiple External Monitor Capability

While the dock alone does not support a 4K monitor, you can purchase a 4K displayport USB3 adapter, and plug it into the USB3 port. I am currently running 3 monitors, a 27 inch WQHD (Asus PB278Q)- landscape, and 2 vertical (1920 X 1080 P) monitors with a thinkpad carbon X1 (3rd Gen) on the onelink display and it works great! With these adaptors (& 4 USB3 ports on the dock), Lenovo's website states the dock should support 6 external monitors!

Everything works great with ThinkPad S1 Yoga. Fine in WIn8 and Win10, and it works out of the box in Linux too (Ubuntu 15.04). It's actually more seamless in Linux, as Windows pops up a bunch of notifications when it's plugged in. Have only tried 2 simultaneous displays so far (built-in and DP - the built-in and onboard mini-HDMI out also work fine simultaneously, and at 1080p + 4K 30Hz).Only thing I could wish for is if it could do 4K over the DisplayPort (doesn't work at 24 or 30Hz - I tried with HDMI adapter, could only get 1080p). Probably a bandwidth limitation of the OneLink interface, and since it lists a max of 1600p, I can't really complain.The cable could stand to be a bit longer for better desktop placement flexibility, and it'd be nice to have a rear audio output as well as front.

This dock is interesting because I've always used docks where I had to set the laptop on and click it into place. This one just plugs into the laptop. Which way is better? It all depends on what you get used to. Personally, I like the plug-in better because I like the smaller form factor and the expansion is excellent. Since the X1 Carbon is small and thin, it doesn't have room for the bulky things like a larger hard drive, Blu-ray, etc. I have all of these plugged into the dock, plus I have one external monitor using Display Port. I will probably add a second external monitor later this year. The USB3 ports are handy and very fast. I highly recommend it.

It works amazingly well with my i5-4300U ThinkPad Yoga 12.5". No hiccups in setting it up. It is truly plug and play. Video works flawlessly on dual monitors out+laptop monitor for a total of 3 monitors. On an internet speedtest I got 790Mbps down and 820Mbps up, and I think I was limited by my connection rather than the dock. My only complaint is that with many cables plugged in it takes a lot of cable management to have the dock stand upright. I ended up laying it on its side. I can highly recommend this to anyone with the same model laptop as me. I have experienced problems with docks in the past though, for example with the ThinkPad Helix every USB3.0 dock I tried was unusuable, so try to find a review specific to your laptop model before you buy.

Because of this dock I will most likely buy a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop whenever it is time to purchase another laptop (convertible tablet with digitizer of course).I have my ThinkPad Yoga S1 (which I have already kept up to date including the latest bios/firmware updates), hooked up to two external monitors, a mechanical keyboard, external speakers, Ethernet, power, and charging my phone! I have not experience any slow downs or glitches in the screens.Love the ease of use and all the extra USB ports as well as USB 3.0 ports.I was cautious before buying it due to the 3 star review when I purchased it, but I believe the issues these others have experienced are due to not having the latest BIOS update that came out at the end of 2014.

It is very sturdy, easy to use, clear screen. The mouse pad is very smooth. I do wish there were more color options though, but other than that, It's been dropped, thrown(accidentally), and minimal scratches, if any. I only gave it a 4 because of the lack of color options.
Nice dock. Video issues at times, but better than an old school docking port.

We have over 100 of these docks installed, and agree with others about the flickering monitors. We have had the best luck with higher-end DisplayPort cables. Spend the extra $20 and get one from a cable manufacturer, rather than the cheapie sent with your monitor. You could also go single DisplayPort + single VGA if so inclined. The DVI to VGA adapter in the box is perfect for that. For large or mixed deployments, make sure you keep the 90W adapters with them, or you'll receive power error messages. Keep a 65W with the laptop and 90W at your "home base."All in all, a worthwhile investment. Would probably give the 4th gen OneLink+ dock 5 stars, as these issues have all but disappeared.

Been using this for about a week on a lenovo E560, dual 1080 monitors, one dvi and one display port and the laptop screen as well. Ive had minor flickering but the firmware update seems to of fixed mostly everything except the occasional flicker on the dvi monitor. The dock DOES charge the laptop, it would be impossible to charge the laptop if docking station was plugged in as it plugs INTO the the charger.

Good little docking station. Only complaint is the Sleep Mode is very touchy. I have 2 of these units and they both struggle with sleep mode. Not sure if it a problem with the docks of the Lenovo laptop. Leave for 15 minutes..come back...screen wakes up, crtl-alt-del, username and password entered, the laptop comes up for a few seconds, then goes into sleep mode. I have to press the button on the dock 1 time to turn off (though it is already asleep), then press the button on the dock a second time, then i do the ctrl-alt-del drill again and it is fine....again it must be a lenovo thing because i have one of these docks at work and at home and they both do the same quirky thing

The dock works exactly as it claims when used with a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (2015) with one exception. It implements the Ethernet connection as an external USB device and there is no way to use Wake On Lan when connected to a network via this connection. This is a big inconvenience if you need this capability. The only alternative is to connect the Ethernet cable to the on-board Ethernet port on the X1 Carbon. This, of course, defeats the purpose of the dock. Other than this, it works well as a dock including excellent display support.
Questionable warranty, awful on-line service.

I just received it today. I am docking two points for the following:1. I checked on-line and saw that warranty was initiated on 5/17/2016. That's more than 3 months ago... I just ordered and received the laptop today (8/30/16). I lost out on 3.5 months of warranty! Am I getting a returned laptop? Confused...2. It comes with Windows 7. If you want to upgrade to Windows 10, you need to either request for a disc or download the file... I wish it came with a recovery option for W10 installed on the SSD.3. Lenovo service is awful (at least the on-line chat option). I didn't even want to try calling. See picture.***Update (2/25/2017)***Now that I used this laptop for some time, I can provide a little more insight into how it's been working for me. I am giving back +1 star, because minus the warranty issue, the laptop has been a great performer for me.- I am running with the latest firmware update as of today. Make sure you apply the latest firmware updates if you decide to get one.- I cannot seem to get the fingerprint reader to work on W10 correctly. It's very unreliable for me and I end up using my PIN to sign on after so many failed attempts. I tried several times to re-register my fingerprint, but no go. This might be a personal problem.- Battery life is great. I leave the laptop in sleep mode frequently and I don't see significant battery drainage even between days.- I have no complaints about the performance. I do office stuff and web browsing for the most part. I do some webcam recording. I do multimedia stuff on it.- It's quiet (at least for my tolerance).- If I had a choice right now, I would still consider this laptop or MS Surface Pro 4.

Excellent buy! Lightweight, long-life battery, super screen (14" for a business laptop to travel with is a big plus), all functions super (incl. LTE SIM and micro-SD slots nicely hidden at the back). The only thing I am missing are 2 keys on the keyboard, but I guess I should have been more careful in configuring the product. Otherwise it's a great experience

Lenovo Product Management MUST resolve Very Pesky issues that destroy the Experience of using this otherwise great laptop: (1) Disable the goddam Automatic Gesture Recognition feature. There are so many Non-Standard Gestures, that ONLY after you loose data or see weird behavior that you realize that the fricking OS is doing something on its own in the background. Very Frustrating. The system messes up my word processing Everyday. Again, Everyday the mouse jumps around because the Laptop is doing something weird in background and Mis-interprets your commands. Horrible. (2) Sit the frick down and hire some good english-speaking designers to write a Better Manual and Instructions to use the Gesture Recognition. Make sure Instructions are Organized, well-composed, logical and clear.

This dock works very well. I have used it with my Thinkpad Yoga & a Carbon X1 (3rd generation). Both of them work fine for basic usage. The only flaw that I have is with the DisplayPort/DVI ports. I use two external monitors, one of them being 4k. Even though the on-board Mini-DP port can handle 4k @ 60hz, the DisplayPort on this dock can only do 30hz, which for my use is worthless (too laggy). Also, when using the DisplayPort, it cannot run the DVI as well. For my Carbon X1, I have to plug my 4k monitor directly into the laptop, which disables the DVI on the OneLink, so I have to use an external USB 3.0 Graphic's card for my second DVI monitor (1080p), which adds some system overhead. I am not sure why Lenovo wouldn't make this capable of doing what the laptop is capable of. Besides that though, I am very happy.

Nearly unusable trackpad

I have used Lenovo laptops for about 10 years now. I've always been pretty happy with them. I hate the new X1, however. I really regret buying it. My only complaint is about the trackpad, but for me, at least, the trackpad is almost unusable. Basically Lenovo converted the old trackpad with separate, physical left and right buttons, into a trackpad that has virtual buttons in it. Perhaps this could be a good thing, but frankly I can find no upside to this configuration. First, I used to rest my thumb on the left button, which meant that pressing the button was lightning fast. Now I have to hold my thumb up above the trackpad so that it does not touch and interfere with tracking my index finger on the trackpad. Second, the position of the buttons seems to jump around on the trackpad: sometimes the left button is in the lower left corner where it should be and sometimes it is in the middle of the trackpad. Sometimes it takes me 8 or 9 clicks in random places on the trackpad to find the stupid button. End result: I used to be extremely fast at getting things done with the trackpad...now it is slow and annoying--verging on unusable. I avoid using my new X1 at all costs and instead use my old T400s---in fact, I'm typing this review on my old laptop so that I don't have to be slowed down by the crap trackpad on the X1

Bought this laptop outside Amazon. Overall I'm enjoying it after changing keyboard and motherboard. I don't know if I will recommend it to somebody. Really nice notebook, but 2 issues with brand new Laptop for 2k is too much, I think. Now when Laptop is fixed I really enjoying it. It is lite, battery last almost for 8 hours and great display. Maybe you will be more lucky then me.

These are extremely unreliable. Definitely upgrade the firmware and the drivers for reduced issues. Frankly I find that as often as not the issue is in the thinkpad laptop and not the docking station itself. I have had to have several laptop motherboards replaced to get the docking station video or USB ports to work properly. Also have had to have a couple of the docking stations replaced. This is especially problematic because things may work well for months and then the annoying screen flicker issues crop up. They may last for a day or for weeks and then they stop again. When I say screen flicker I mean that a screen will turn of for a second or up to several seconds and then turn back on. This can happen a couple of times a day or every couple of minutes. Lenovo knows this is an issue and as long as your warranty is active they will replace parts but as soon as it is up you are on your own. I Was hoping to be able to standardize on this solution and I bought quite a few of these with laptops. Unfortunately these are not enterprise ready by any means. And they are not cheep either.

I like a docking station to get rid of wires and present a clean look on my desk. This does neither. Aside from adding a few more USB ports, this is pointless as you have to run cables to your laptop anyway. Someone at Lenovo forgot what a dock was for. It works as expected.

Ugghh...so buggy! Sometimes it wakes up correctly sometimes not (in which case the proverbial cold restart is needed). Most frustrating is the always on USB port in the front DOESN'T STAY ON. This is a super product idea that doesn't really do as advertised.

Not a dock at all...more like a glorified USB hub. Very few ports, poor power management (for instance, it can't be on if the laptop is off, so I have to be sure to turn off my audio system or it buzzes when I turn off the laptop), handles very few non-USB peripherals (and since my monitor doesn't have an HDMI port, I need to get and extra connector to connect two monitors). If you use your laptop as your office machine and want to connect a couple of monitors and a few peripherals, it's a terrible unit. But it's the only option you have, since Lenovo doesn't offer a true docking station. On the plus side, small size is nice, and easy to connect.
Screen goes black 3 or 4 times a day.

This rating is not about the device itself. It's about Lenovo's serious lack of clarity about what the OneLine Pro Dock works with, the Yoga 2 Pro is definitely not one of them. I was searching for an adapter that would allow me to use the widescreen LCD monitor I used with my last Lenovo Thinkpad without difficulty. None of the documentiation that came with my new Yoga 2 Pro offered a solution for something I wrongly assumed would be simple. There was an ultimate adapter solution that allowed me to use a mini-USB ort on the Yoga 2 Pro, but the main point is, if you own what is otherwise an excellent convertible laptop, this is not our docking solution.
Fast and Light but Disappointing in Many Ways

This laptop (4th gen) certainly has performance and is physically super light, making it a great laptop for ultra portability. However, after only a few months of daily use, here are the problems I have:1) the screen has been scratched badly by coming in contact with the keyboard2) track pad has a decent amount of play in it and has since unboxing3) finger print scanner only works when its re calibrated. A day late it won't recognize my fingerprint4) the speakers buzzI had high expectations for this laptop as I was switching from using a Macbook for the past 7 years. But the build quality of the X1 Carbon is no where near what I was expecting. Overall I'm pretty disappointed with this product. Wish I could say otherwise.

I purchased Thinkpad X1 Carbon on Lenovo official website. My model is 8G ram and 512 G ssd non touch version. The screen is dim than normal computer but you could get used to it. It might be the silentest laptop I have experienced. That is a thumb up.At first 6 month it works great, however, the following things makes me extremely mad. Suddenly one day I found the screen had vertical bars and totally unusable. But I am not worried right, I purchased 3 year on-side warranty which means technicians will come to my home to fix the computer instead of mailing it to lenovo. Sound good right. But They came to my place 4 times, trying to replace parts, non of each trial work. They will bring an unopened box and open it in front of your face. Three of the fours times they found out there is something wrong with the item inside the box. Finally they suggested me to mail it to the lenovo center to "nail it". That is 2 month past, why, because the parts take so long to arrive and it turns out to be a bad part. After I send my laptop to the lenovo center, I haven't seen it for 2 month. It is already Nov and will be a new year soon. I don't know if I can see my laptop this year, all the parts my laptop need are back ordered. Come on! It is a new model, a 2015 model, why it is back ordered!Guys if you see this review, please consider other computer than lenovo. The legendary thinkpad name is gone. Moreover, i understand that as long as it is a machine, it will not work sometime, The customer service is awful and disgusting. I have to say that Apple do things right. I have a 2011 macbook pro, it got problem sometimes, but every-time I brought it to the Genius Bar, my problem will be solved perfectly. I will recommend Apple products because you can use it at relieve for a long time.

I love the laptop except I've had it for 2 weeks and had several issues. The first is that when you shut the lid of computer and then open it again, it will not wake up from sleep and requires a complete computer reboot. I called Lenovo about it and they said the motherboard needs replaced and I can mail them my laptop and it will take a week or more to get it back to me. I also have a problem with the USB ports. They are very tight and I can barely get the USB into it. I had to really shove to get it to fit, and now when I pull it back out the outer casing of my jump drive stays in the machine and just the "guts" of the USB pulls out. Lenovo said I should just return the machine and get a new one since I'm having so many issues. The problem is that if I return it, I have to download everything to the computer all over again - which is a giant pain in the butt. If I send it to them to fix, than I have a computer that has been opened up and changed out and it's two weeks old. I'm also worried that if I order the same thing again, I'll have the same problem again.

I used to be a Lenovo fan when it comes to their higher end products. They performed well and used to be rock solid machines. I decided to finally upgrade my 5 years old laptop to this one after so many raving reviews and how Lenovo listened to the fans and fixed various things from 2nd Gen. Unfortunately, the purchase of this machine has became my biggest nightmare. Roughly after the return period was up, the machine started to develop several issues. One is that a few, bright, stuck pixels started to develop on the screen.Secondly, which is the show stopper, is that most of the time, when the machine wakes up from sleep one of the two issues would occur. Either 1) the whole machine freezes with gray lines running across the whole screen or 2) the screen starts to flicker non-stop. At first, a reboot would fix the issue. Then, slowly, it got worse over time - trying to hard reboot while the screen is frozen actually just brings it back frozen. The support is a joke. I opened a ticket hoping to get the machine serviced two weeks ago. I never heard back from Lenovo. Posting on their forum got me no where except I found other people having the same issue. In fact, one guy said he waited a month to finally got the motherboard of his laptop replaced but he continues to have the same problem. Forget about trying to call their support line, which is incredible hard to navigate through their site to find. Last time I sat on the line for 45 minutes and didn't get anyone before I had to leave.The last draw for me is that I attempted to post a review of the product on Lenovo's site. I still mentioned the great physical design of the machine, because it is, but gave it a low score for product reliability. That review was immediately rejected. Needless to say, I will not give them a single dime in the future and I urge everyone else to do the same. I'm really not an Apple person but this has made me rethink about it simply because getting support is far easier there.

I have a Yoga 14. One Link constantly disconnects and reconnects, network flaps. I wupdataed everything, firmware, BIOS, no fix. Lenovo forum is full of people with same issue, but no fix. Nice design. Nice idea. Not implemented well.

Dock can't run a monitor and use USB 3 at the same time. Read the forums, there are many complaints about it.Lenovo support is horrid. Don't believe it when they say they have 24 hour support, they don't. If you call for support on this product it's likely that you'll need to speak with some one that only works Monday - Firday and you won't get support.

The product is announced as compatible with the Carbon X1 but it is not compatible with many of the exiting laptops. Someone has to be carefully reviewing to which one its compatible or not to avoid issues. Not practical at all!

This is the worst docking station I have ever used. I bought two and sent both back to Lenovo who replaced them with docking stations with the same issues. Monitors flicker, go blank, seem to lose connection. Same thing with network cable, sporadically just loses connection with network. So bad I have to plug one monitor and the network cable directly into Lenovo laptop... which really defeats the purpose of having one to begin with.

This dock fried the battery on my laptop after one day of use. It was plugged into a surge protector, so I know that wasn't the problem. Sending in my laptop to be fixed is a real pain. All I wanted was a convenient laptop dock.

I purchased mine directly from Lenovo on February 10th. I thought I was ordering a 2 in 1 (the picture is kind of deceptive). Thinkpad notebooks had been marked down 30 percent for Presidents Day so it was an excellent deal. A couple of days later while watching an online review, I realized that it wasn't a 2 in 1. It was a standard laptop. I attempted to change the order to an X1 yoga but unfortunately the deal had ended. Not wanting to pay full price I decided to cancel the order. This was two days after placing the order. The machine hadn't even been built yet. I received an email from lenovo informing me that a request had been put in to cancel the order but there was no guarantee the order would be canceled. They were not lying. Again this was 10 days before the build was to be completed. Two days later I noticed the order had not been canceled. I called lenovo to discuss my options. I was informed that if the item was shipped and I refused delivery there would be a 15 percent restocking fee. This was an 1800 dollar purchase so do the math. They told me that when I clicked the acceptance box I had in fact agreed to this policy. I currently own a Lenovo Y50 that I purchased a couple of years ago. We were looking at the possibility of purchasing intel 7 tablets for the office. We narrowed it down to the Surface Book Pro and the Lenovo Think Pad X1 Yoga. Thanks Lenovo. By screwing us out of 270 bucks you just made our choice a little easier. Enjoy your restocking fees.Follow Up (February 24):After running into wall after wall with Lenovo Customer Service, I decided to let the credit card company (American Express) dispute the charge. The original order included the Laptop and a Docking Station. Amex was able to resolve the docking station charge but since the laptop had not shipped it had not yet been charged to my account. I contacted Lenovo Customer Service on February 16th in a last ditch attempt to cancel the order. The representative cheerfully told me that they had indeed canceled the order and rerouted the shipment of the docking station. I specifically asked if this included the laptop. "Yes," she said. Relieved, I put the ordeal behind me (I wound up purchasing an HP Spectre 360). Four days later on my way to work I noticed a UPS sticker on my front door. They were trying to deliver a Lenovo laptop and required a signature. I went back on the Lenovo website to check the order status and sure enough, Lenovo had shipped the Thinkpad. Four days after assuring me that the order had been canceled. My American Express account was billed $1653.00. I contacted Lenovo who explained to me that when they canceled the order, it was only for the docking station. When I explained to the rep that the laptop and docking station were both part of the same order, they repeated their lame excuse. How can a company that makes such great computers be so completely incompetent where customer service is concerned? The real rub was that after every interaction I was asked to say nice things about them in the subsequent survey. Now they're just messing with me! I filed another dispute with American Express. Despite the quality of their product, I will never purchase another Lenovo. If you must buy one, I recommend buying it a Computer Store, on Amazon...anywhere but the Lenovo website. I purchased mine from the website because of the 30 percent discount. All things considered, I don't think it was worth it.

I'm not certain what Lenovo was thinking with this laptop but run don't walk. The keyboard just isn't comfortable. The mousepad is clunky and not responsive. It randomly closes windows and while light as can be, it is slower than my old SL410. This is just awful. Lenovo doesn't stand behind their products and going through support is a nightmare. They don't bother to answer and if they do they brush you off. I'll mourn my old Thinkpad forever but I won't give Lenovo another dime which is sad because I've been using IBM then Lenovo since they had their first laptops. I'm going to MSi. Lighter, faster and people love them. Basically I'm taking this one and calling it a loss and it will be a backup. Too bad because It has less than six weeks use on it.
