Finally settled on this vaccum and I LOVE IT!
January 29, 2016
I looked for a long time, read many reviews, and did price comparisons before I finally settled on the Eureka AirExcel. After 6 months of using it, here are my pros and cons.I love that it sucks so well. It will pick up literally ANYTHING. If I accidentally suck something up that is too big, it is very easy to quickly take apart and take the object out.The canisters, even when full is super easy to carry around as you vaccuum which I really like.Opening and emptying the canister of dirt is SO easy. It makes cleaning it out often a cinch. I love that! It's a cute, retro-style color scheme which makes me not feel so bad when it is left out in the open after a cleaning job. Some things I would change: the electrical cord is too short and the canisters on wheels sometimes flips over if I am overzealous about scooting it around. I just have to flip it back over though, no big deal.I am super happy with this purchase. It is very well made and gets the job done in no time!
Four cats, long hair dog, engineered hardwood floors
November 30, 2015
I don't write reviews, but I have been searching for a vacuum like this for so long that I feel I must. With 4 cats (2 long hair) and a Sheltie, I have a ton of litter and hair. We recently installed engineered hardwood through the whole house and my upright Dyson was not picking anything up, it worked great on carpet but is awful on hard surfaces. I have tried several other vacuums that are advertised for hard floors but they all failed to pick up the cat litter consistently.Hair: you have to push a button to extend the bristles that protect the floor from the vacuum head. Hair does bunch up on the bristles and the lint brush like portions. I periodically had to stop and pull hair off. I didn't mind it though.Cat litter and larger particles: because of the bristles on the vacuum head, I couldn't push forward when picking up cat litter, I had to start in front of the cat litter and pull back. Not really a hassle just wish that it would pick it up going forward and back. No blowback of litter like on upright vacuums. The silver wand pops right off when you need to use the house to vacuum up larger particles or if you need to get in little crevices, which was a wonderful surprise after the complicated features of the Dyson.Suction: the suction was great until I vacuumed up too much hair and the cyclone stopped inside the canister. I emptied after every room at that point and the suction was fine.Portability: it rolled pretty well and I was able to pick it up easily when I needed to. The whole thing is very light.Getting under furniture: you have to twist the wand to get the head under furniture without the little book on the back getting in the way. It took some practice to get the technique down. Otherwise, i was able to get under every piece of furniture with the exception of a nightstand that only has about an inch between the bottom and the floor.Cons: the cord is pretty short so I had to unplug approximately every two rooms. It also blows out warm air over the left wheel, which means that it will blow hair all around unless the vacuum is behind you. This was annoying because I'm used to starting at the back of the house and walking backward with the vacuum, which I can no longer do.l obviously can't speak to the longevity, but it seems to be well made and you can't beat the price. I would highly recommend it.
So far so good!
November 27, 2015
I have wanted a canister vacuum for a while, so after my upright died I decided to give the canister style a try. I did some research and after reading many reviews for several different canister vacuums I felt like this was the best choice for my needs and price range. 90% of my home has hard wood and tile floors, with 1 wall to wall carpeted room and also some area rugs. I also have 2 dogs (one constantly shedding short haired and one long haired) and a 3 year old boy.. I hated using my upright on the bare floors because the turbo brush would just blow all the dirt & hair everywhere, and of course I didn't enjoy manually broom sweeping every bare floor every other day. Some reviews for this vacuum said that the suction was "too" powerful and would get stuck to bare floors and rugs... I haven't had that problem since I put the little bristle heads down that slightly elevate the head attachment when I'm not using it on carpet. There is also a suction control slide. Using it on carpet is a little tricky at first, but not as bad as some people are saying.. It's going to take a little extra effort and some getting used to if you are only used to uprights like I was. My upright was a Bissell bagless for pets, but I honestly think this picks up all of the dog hair and everything else better! I also really like how this can reach places that my upright couldn't (like under the beds!) very easily.Super easy to put together and not as loud as the uprights I've used. I mean, it's not a whisper but it's also not the typical noise I expected. Cord is shorter than I'm used to but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's really not that hard to stop when you're done with one room and switch it to another plug.Overall I'm very happy with my choice!
Replaced my Dyson
March 25, 2015
I purchased this item when my upright Dyson Animal bitthe dust after 2 years. This thing is aawesome!!!I have 6 children and a 150lb mastiff, so believe me, we tested it!!I needed something that could handle Cherrios, bread crust, chips, and the occasional semi damp items. This bad boy was more like a shop vac!It sucked down cherrios quicker then my 18 month old twins! No hesitation, no getting stuck in some poorly designed narrow hose, this beast even sucked up childrens socks! Thankfully they were spotted in the clear debries canister before I tossed them :)Large dog food, no problem! There are no rotating brushes, so when my 5 year old wants to help out, I dont habe to worry about injuries resulting from moving parts.Did it need a brush to fully clean?Nope! Its suction made it a bit harder to pull "against the grain" of the carpet, but never had to clean up after it. Even stubborn dog hairs were pulled out by thr very stiff bristles on the bottom of the head of the vacuume.Great item all around!
Eureka AirExcel - Great Choice!
January 7, 2015
I have been looking for a vacuum to clean my cars and home (hard wood floors and low carpet). I read a lot of reviews of several possible vacuums. However, this Eureka AirExcel seemed a perfect choice because of its great suction, excellent filtration, bagless system, and not to mention... low price. I bought the product early last year and it is still going. It is used about 3 - 4 times a week. The filter is very good - I like the fact that the manufacturer added a foam to absorb the dust from the air before it enters the filter - this prolongs the filter life. I simple rinse the foam once every 2 - 3 months, take apart the canister type "bagless" and rinse the parts, remove any debris that may be in the hole where the canister attaches to. The only issue I encountered so far is that the part that allows me to select bare floor or carpet failed - so it constantly sets itself to carpet mode - which is not a big issue because the suction is excellent.Though there were a few low stars given by other buyers, the high stars, product description, and youtube videos proved otherwise.I highly recommend this vacuum.
Too Much!
November 20, 2012
When I first read the reviews for this product I thought that too much emphasis was placed on the sheer pulling power of the vacuum. Normally when we look to purchase one we look for the amps and whether or not it has enough power to get deep down in the rugs as well as the easy jobs with hardwood floors, etc.Well, to my serious amazement, this little machine CAN PULL!Right out of the box I began using the unit. The first thing I found was that the "plastic" used to make the cleaner's body wasn't a cheap plastic, and even though the Hepa Filter wheel seemed to be a little loose, it didn't make a difference to me, mainly because I would carry around the machine while cleaning anyway. As soon as I lowered the arm to begin cleaning, the immediate sucking power was VERY noticeable. So much so, that after I finished cleaning, I opened up the easily accessible dust bin, and out came about two inches or so of pure dirt. Now I'm considered a pretty neat person, and most call me obsessive compulsive about this, but we do have a dog and he does track in a lot of dirt....dirt that I thought my old cleaner was vacuuming out of the rugs. Man was I surprised at the amount of hair and dirt I found I took out of my rugs with this little cleaner. Between this, the easy dumping into the trash of the dirt and grime the machine accumulated, and the ease by which the entire product functioned when quietly running, I would swear Eureka could easily have charged hundreds more for the unit...heck, the Dyson Animal cleaner goes for over $400.00 and from what I am reading, it didn't even have the pure suction power of this little gem.Other than the loose wheel on the side (easily fixable with a little duct tape placed inside to keep it on), this is THE BEST vacuum cleaner on the market today; bar none. I pray that it lasts a long time and wouldn't hesitate in the slightest to recommend it for those of us on a budget and not able to spend a fortune on bells and whistles.

Replacement in Kind
July 27, 2017
This is a replacement for the over 18 year old Mighty Mite that we have been using that still runs and sucks but some of the plastic parts are broken. The main attachment brush looks better on the new one. The suction may be stronger than the old one but that could be the effects of age and wear.
simple, effective, and great for taller people
July 20, 2017
we had one of these 20 years ago. me moved a few times, it got beat up/old, and we ended up getting a new $400 Dyson.had that for five years, never really liked it.decided to try one of these again. it's soooo much simpler and stronger, and if you're talll WOOOHOOO the tube is super long and makes vacuuming much more comfy (i'm 6'6", i think anyone under 7' would be fine with this vac.)

I was given one by my sister when graduating from college in 1984. It gave up the ghost and so I bought the same model 30+ years later. I really like it. I kept the floor attachment from my old one, because i like it better. To me it was a more simplistic design, that worked well.
Love this little pull behind me light weight vacuum!!
August 23, 2016
I have just gotten this little vacuum and had a chance to use it once. I really do like it. It is light weight and the canister pulls behind me like my Electrolux Renaissance old vacuum used to do. I am so not crazy about the push in front of you vacuums. This little light weight jewel comes along behind you and you push the brush out in front of you. It reaches into and under and around things so easily. AND LORDY MERCY!! It surly vacuumed up the dog hair. We have two rescues living in the house with us 24/7 - a 93 pound lab/shep mix and a 55 pound border terrier. Now, he is the one whose hair flies everywhere. After using the little cleaner once, I felt my house was more clear of "dawg" hair than it has been in weeks. Thank you - thank you - thank you!!!!!!!!
I don't know if this will help anyone but here goes....
February 5, 2015
So I grabbed my Eureka vacuum and cleaned my minivan today. As I was vacuuming I thought, this is best small vacuum ever. Then I tried to remember just how long I have had it. Probably about five years. It was passed down to me from my mom.I wonder exactly how long she used it before giving it to me? This vacuum has been around as long as I can remember. Now I know it's not the exact same vacuum but it's the same brand and same model line. This vacuum still runs like it's brand new. Suction is amazing, electric cord is extra long, it has never overheated, I have never had one problem with this little vacuum other than having to change the bag and the bag is the size of the vacuum, so that's not often. If it ever plays out, I will purchase again without a second thought!

I bought a vacuum like this over 30 yrs ago and it still works as good as the new one I just bought. . Now we keep that one in a little place where we go fishing. When we were down there last, and I was cleaning, I asked my husband if these were still being made. It's so light that my back doesn't hurt while using it. When I got home, I looked on Amazon and found out they were. The only difference now is the tools can be stored on the vacuum. It's very light so it isn't hard to drag around like the other vacuums, and it's made mostly for hard floors. Since I have no carpeting of any kind this vacuum is perfect. It says the floor part can to adjusted to carpeting but knowing this vacuum it would work only on the pile of an oriental carpet. It's so light weight with such a strong suction that this vacuum is also ideal for cleaning the inside of the car. It has a very long cord and I don't have to use extension cords anymore. The price wasn't bad either. I think I paid just about that much for a might mite vacuum 30 yrs ago. .

One of the best
May 14, 2016
I bought the Eureka Air Excel in November of 2012 because of my bad allergies. I bought it specifically to be able to go under my bed that has low sides due to under-the-bed-drawers. The apartment I lived in at the time had no carpet and accumulated dust very quickly due to how old it was. This vacuum was one of the best purchases I ever made. Because of the swivel action of the large brush I'm able to almost flatten the wand to the ground and get under the bed, the coach and any low furniture.I bought a house last year which has all tile floors. So now I use the vacuum as my broom and dust pan all over the house, even in the garage. The easy emptying canister is fantastic, it's so light weight, it comes on so easily by just pressing my toe on the large start/stop button and compact which makes storing it so easy. Love, love, love the retractable cord.I love this vacuum so much that I was compelled almost 3 1/2 years later to finally write a review about it. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because the wheel where the hepa filter is stored started falling off about a year ago. 5/14/16
Good value for price ...
January 8, 2016
There already are 800+ reviews on this item, so I'll be brief.Positives- Powerful, good suction- Small, lightweight- Build seems to be sturdyNegatives- Electrical cord is short, about 16 feet long. Would have preferred 25 feet- Attachments (long tube, floor brush) are held together by friction. Would have preferred a snapping / locking mechanism.Other reviewers say this vacuum is not so good for carpets. My POV: We have kids, but no pets. And we practice the Asian habit of not wearing shoes within the house. So our carpets (I hope!) don't get really dirty. For us, this vacuum works fine on carpets. If you're never had a bagless vacuum before (we hadn't), you'll want to empty the container after each use. We found that if the vacuum picks up a small pebble or any small hard object, it rattles around endlessly in the container. So best to empty it.
I have to agree with the good and some of the bad about this vacuum
October 24, 2014
I have to agree with the good and some of the bad about this vacuum. First the reason I left off a star is because I feel there should be a way to to click the hose onto the metal "wand". It came apart twice when I used it for the first time so I wish it snapped together or clicked or something instead of just falling off. As far as the other reviews - the suction is amazing for how small it is. Yes, the cord could be longer, yes the hose makes it a little difficult to store (but it's a canister vac - what do you expect?). I don't know how I feel yet about not being able to store the attachments on the vacuum. To me it's not that big of a deal I guess, but they could probably have made some kind of clip so they snap on the base or something. I haven't had any problem with the hose "kinking", it turns really easily. It's also super easy to empty. So far I love it, it's WAY better than my broom and dustpan which left behind a lot of dirt and dog hair.
Here's Why It's Perfect For Me
January 16, 2014
Update after 14 months.1. Still love it. Everything I said below is still holding true.2. It's become the main vacuum for the house. The others sit - everyone chooses this one.3. One of the wheels on the floor attachment has fallen off. Not the end of the world and will get another for $20.-------------Owned it for 45 days, so now ready to tell you all about it.But before I start, if you have carpeting or many area rugs, this is not the vacuum for you. We have a 3000 SF house and we're 80% hardwood and tile with the remainder area rugs. Works for us.Here's why I like it:1. Lightweight - I can wheel it around and pick it up to do stairs. The wheels work. It can tip over, but so light it doesn't matter.2. Inexpensive - Very reasonable... I will probably buy a second one so that we have one on each floor.3. Good suction - Powerful little machine.4. Compact - Doesn't need much space to store.5. Attachments Work - Sure they separate from the hose once in awhile, but no big deal. See my note about attachment storage below.6. Acceptable Noise - I can actually hear my TV while I'm vacuuming. So not a screamer.7. Easy Dirt Canister - Easy, easy... but do it outside or in your barrel in the garage. Otherwise, you'll get some dirt on the floor.8. EZ Clean Filter/Canister System - I'm probably going to wash the Canister once a month, that seems to be all it needs. Take it apart, clean a couple of filters, wash out the canister, put in all back together. Now that I'm familiar with it, will probably take 4 minutes.9. Easy Chord Retract - Just put your foot on the button, retracts easy.Things I didn't like, but I figured out how to get around it:1. Attachment Storage - There is none. But velcro saved the day. Velcro the two small attachments to the top of the unit. Not a problem now. The remaining floor attachment clips into back of unit just like pictured. I had to figure that out, but now you don't.2. Vacuuming Area Rugs - It won't go back and forth. Only pulls back. I only have a few area rugs, so no big deal.In conclusion, perfect for me. If it breaks down some day, I'll buy another and have it in 2 days with Amazon Prime. Very inexpensive unit, I could get 4 of these for the price of a Dyson. So if you have hardwood floors, tile or other hard surfaces, GET IT. I actually enjoy vacuuming now.
Mean, green, & matches my rugs
July 5, 2013
I'll get right down to it:Pros:- incredible suction for such a compact machine- telescoping wand is quite handy & well built- drags easily & light weight- one-push retracting cord for lazy bums like me- works incredibly on my high pile ikea rugs, my 40+ year old oak floors, and my microfiber sofa- does a fine job of doubling as an air filtration system while cleaning; my house is noticeably easier on my respiratory system after my vacuum spreeCons:- like what everyone else is saying: it requires a bit of muscle to push on rugs and carpet, but honestly, it's not a big deal since you KNOW it's actually picking up debris because it has enough power to pickup the rug itself- no place to put the two additional attachments (carry them in your pockets or use velcro strips to stick them on the machine)- the dirt-release latch feels flimsyOverall:I personally call this my NotADyson since it utilizes a similar cyclone suction tech and saved me roughly $300 over the much praised Dysons while doing as good of a job as my friend's D24 Ball upright. Granted it requires some muscle and ingenuity to get the damn thing to clean your carpet but once you figure it out (it's an angle thing) it's well worth the savings.Another thing to take note of is the engineering for the attachments: they can reach practically anywhere if you adjust them right. So for what it's worth, coming from a loft owner, this is honestly a great buy for the money.
I'm impressed with it
June 6, 2012
I bought this vacuum to make cleaning my laminate floors a little easier with dog hair, crumbs, outside dirt, grass, etc. So far it has delivered and more in making it a breeze to go through the house compared to my upright Eureka I had been using for a few years now. This is my first canister vacuum, it definitely is compact, the bin is small where the dirt goes, but my house isn't that huge and I would think anyone who vacuums often enough to not fill up the canister in one use would want to clean it out after using it each time. Emptying the dirt is so simple, unhook it from the base, go over to the trashcan, unsnap the bottom and the dirt falls right into your trashcan.Biggest Pro to this little device is the suction, I was shocked at how much suction it had. If I vacuum over a area rug it sticks fast and if you push it to clean on the rug it picks up the rug, I managed a way to get it to not suck fast, but on my laminate floors, it glides nicely sucks up everything in it's path. It's fairly quiet as well compared to my upright. Another pro is the retractable electric cord, instead of wrapping it around those hooks, you push one button and it rewinds back into the machine. This vacuum is also lightweight. One con to the canister is the cover of the filter in the one wheel, it does fall off sometimes causing the filter to fall out. Another would be no place to hook the attachments to the canister and the hose is pretty long, kind of hard to store.Overall, if you don't want to pay for a Dyson canister, this is a great alternative.

Great little machine for the money.
September 6, 2017
For the money, this is a great little vacuum. Lots of power. This model is not as well made as the Mighty Mite I had years ago, but isn't that the case with all things these days? The hose is made of cheap, thin plastic and kinks a lot. The power cord is shorter than I'd like but an extension cord solves that problem. I would have paid more for this machine if it was made of higher quality materials because it really does have great suction. I'm assuming that the cheap plastic it's made from will not last as long as my previous Mighty Mite. The bag is easy to put in and take out and the machine is lightweight and easy to use. Despite it's flaws, I would definitely buy it again. I hope Eureka upgrades the quality of it's products in the future.
Great value - sucks up the dirt
August 6, 2017
For the price, this is an awesome vacuum cleaner. It's loud, but it sucks up the dirt. The narrow diameter wands and low profile head (or whatever it's called) make it easy to get under furniture and into tight spaces. However, this is the second machine I've ordered, only because the hose on my first one got damaged, and it doesn't seem to have as much suction power. I am going to contact Eureka about it. Still, it's a great buy for someone who can't afford a fancier machine.
The Mighty Mite is very powerful and a very good value.
April 24, 2017
I would have given this 5 stars, except that the floor attachment is kind of loose.just tighten it up with some strapping tape on the connecting hose.otherwise these are excellent vacuum cleaners.I hate vacuum cleaners without easily disposable bags.canister cleaners are horrible to clean (which includes the filters) and are hideous to take apart and put back together.
Great price, great vacuum...
June 15, 2016
This is the second Eureka Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum that I have owned, and I do not intend to own any other vacuum. The reason why I purchased this vacuum is because I have hardwood floors which I like to regularly clean as I have pets and children, needed something light weight, and with a reasonable price tag. This vacuum has met all of these requirements for me.First off, the vacuum does very well on hardwood floors whether it is picking up pet hair, crumbs, etc. The hose and crevice attachment help to get hard to reach areas. The suction level is very high which is great. The vacuum is light weight and easy to carry if needed, but it also has wheels and easily just follows along behind you while using the hose. The bags are easy to change without making a mess. Since the vacuum is small it is easy to store which is important to me because I have a small home. The reason for the 4 stars is the couple of issues that I have had with the vacuum. The attachment designed for the floor is not as effective as I would like it to be for picking things up. I have a local vacuum store nearby, though, which had an attachment especially for hardwood floors for only a few dollars that has worked excellent. Typically, the vacuum is very powerful at picking things up, but at times it can get clogged particularly in the part where the hard plastic part attaching to the hose is bent.

Eureka mighty mite is pretty mighty for a little guy but could have a few improvement. The power for it's size is more than enough and i'm definitely not comparing this to a dyson. With that said, given the size, it would be nice if they have a better cord management system. With the annoyance of dragging the house around, the cord is a bit annoying to loop & unloop from the bottom. For whatever reason, the attachments falls off quite easily when vaccuming. I needed this for a 8X10 area rug and this does the job just fine. Just wished it's a little easier to use.
Powerful but loud. Overall good value for the price
January 26, 2015
Powerful vacuum cleaner, does the job for a great price and bags are easy to find and buy here in Amazon for a reasonable price. Two cons:- The sound is like having an F-15 taking off inside your living room, so if you are a sensitive person to noise or you can't handle the vacuum while in a hangover, I would not buy this product. Probably Dyson is way better for 15 times the price.- The cable doesn't go in the vacuum cleaner automatically, so it's kind of annoying to roll the cable around the base of the thing every time you're done using it.If you can survive with those two cons, this thing works great. My cleaning lady made me order one extra for her, so I suppose that's a good sign. After eight months it still sucks (in the good meaning of the sentence).

Could have been a winner
September 3, 2016
I have had this vacuum for eight months and used it every week. It really picks up the dirt and hair. However, it is very user unfriendly. The floor attachment works well on the hardwood floors working both forward and back. However, on the carpeting (read apartment kind of carpet) it will only work by being pulled. This results in the attachment continually coming off the wand. I finally used duct tape and taped the attachment to the wand. Now, only the hose handle comes out of the wand. Can't really tape that.I have had a bunch of canister vacuums over the years, the first a Eureka circa 1956. We used it for nearly 15 years. The best an Electrolux circa 1950 that was my mothers. We used it until 2000. This is the second worst of the lot, the worst being an Electrolux circa 1970. Ease of use was the issue with that one, too. This could be a five star machine with a few minor design changes to the attachments. Quarter-turn connectors on the hose and wand. My original Eureka had these. A floor attachment that works in both directions on both hardwood and carpet. My 1950 Electrolux had that.If you are looking for a good vacuum that is difficult to use and is worth the price this is for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Too bad. Could have been a winner.
3.5-4 stars
January 3, 2016
I purchased this based on the reviews. I searched a lot for a canister vacuum with great reviews and this is where that research brought me. Although it has great suction, I haven't had any issues, I don't like that it does not have a rotating part in the foot like most vacuums do. I can see everything it pulls up but I'm still not comfortable with how well it can clean a carpet without moving the fibers around. It's a lot easier to pull the vacuum back towards you than it is to push forward but bc it doesn't have the rotating brush I still push it forward bc I can hear it sucking up debris. I haven't had any issues with the parts. I'm not sure why people are having trouble with the canister latch breaking. Don't open it aggressively and you should be fine. The attachments are nice but not having a place to put them isn't a huge deal to me but it would make for better convenience. If they did have somewhere I could put them, it might have earned another star. Overall this is a powerful little machine. If you found my review helpful please click yes below.
Good Vacuum for small jobs but high maintenance.
November 28, 2015
I purchased this vacuum because it does not require a bag. However, the it contains both a washable filter (reusable) and a second HEPA filter that needs to be replaced approximately every 6 months at a cost of about $10 - $12. The cost of a single HEPA filter is more that I would have spent on a 3-pack of vacuum bags. The vacuum is very handy for small clean up and getting under furniture, but the bagless feature requires much more maintenance (dumping and cleaning filters) and the cost of replacing the HEPA filter is a deal breaker.
Good but lacks efficient connecting
January 4, 2015
It's got great suction, manageable weight and size but for a few bucks more why not make better connecting parts? The sweeper main attachment does not lock into the metal tubing. Nor does the metal tubing to the hose. So they basically fall out on occasion. If you really jam the pieces in then you just have a harder time getting them off when you need to. So, I'd say if you're really cost conscious, this is a good buy but I would prefer interlocking/easily detachable parts.
Does lose suction, pieces fall off
October 29, 2014
I thought this was pretty good when it first arrived, but after I had it a few months some drawbacks became clear. First, the accessory pieces totally fall off the hose as you vacuum, which is annoying. Second, the brush has no rollers (which I knew) so you're supposed to depress a button lever on the main cleaning head to make the brush push against the carpet. That button now goes back to neutral as soon as you put pressure on the cleaning head, which makes it difficult to vacuum carpets. The brush itself seems to have flattened and lost effectiveness. Third, it definitely DOES lose suction; its canister is small, requiring you to empty it frequently. It's okay because we have only area rugs, and it's useful for taking up and down the stairs, and we kept our other vacuum.
Good idea, poor implementation
August 31, 2014
It's a very light, convenient vacuum with pretty good suction, what's not to like? That's what one would be probably thinking when they first used the Eureka. Unfortunately, it's only true while the vacuum is new, after a few uses it starts losing the suction due to a design defect (surprise, surprise, it's made in China). There is a short connector tube inside the vacuum, connecting the hose and the canister, which for some bizarre reason is designed curved at 90 deg. If you are vacuuming carpets, or cat/dog hair, etc. that short connector becomes easily blocked with fibers. I included a picture of how it looks like. You need to disassemble and clean the blockage to restore the suction. Disassembling is not hard, but the parts are all soft plastic, so you have a good chance of breaking something.

Great vac, flimsy hose and floor tool
August 12, 2017
Vacuum is excellent. Floor tool and hose are very cheap. Had to order 3rd party bare floor brush and it works great. The hose collapses when you turn and is very short. Guess will try to find a better 3rd party hose. Can't believe Eureka created a great vac the put poor quality accessories.
The suction is good but only for hardwood floors
August 7, 2017
I was expecting a little more. The suction is good but only for hardwood floors. If you have any carpets to clean this is better than nothing but not sufficient - there is no turning brush. There is a side button to push on the large brush used on the floor ? but I see NO difference between either setting. I will be getting another sweeper soon.
Deserves another brush head
February 12, 2017
I love this "little" vacuum. Light weight and very powerful. Another positive item is the vacuum hose that's long enough to give a comfortable reach without pulling the canister. So, why the 3 stars? I could easily have given the 5 stars if it wasn't because of the worst ever brush head design that came with it. It is almost having the best stereo system with low quality speakers. The brush head has wheels that limits the free swivel motion ( it is really awkward) and what makes it even worse is the fixed angle of the attaching hose fixture that doesn't allow vacuuming underneath the furniture more then 10" deep. It is very unfortunate that Eureka chose the wrong brush head. However the positives of this vacuum deserve the consideration of purchasing another brush head. And having said that, that's what I will do.
Needs a better hose
September 18, 2016
I've looked through the reviews and am surprised that nobody has mentioned the problem that I have noticed. The vacuum itself has good suction. I find the cord to be too short, but most vacuums are. I cannot fully sweep a room without moving the plug and that is annoying. However, the biggest issue I have is the very cheap and stiff hose that comes on it. It is really long and while you are using it, it will often "kink" and has developed a bit of a weak spot where it kinks even more frequently and then you lose suction. A higher quality hose would be much better--one that is a bit more pliable. Other than that, it is a good vacuum.
A lot of power with minimal use
December 31, 2015
This product is a sweeper. Great section but don't get it confused with the vacuum cleaner. I would say it's a back saver if you don't want to do a whole lot of bending when you clean. Does well cleaning the car you just need an extension cord when you use it.
Not the same performance
January 26, 2015
I bought my first Eureka Mighty Might in 1994 (20 years from Costco). The motor finally froze. The wheels had fallen off. I just drug it around anyway. No way to repair them, only glue and screw them stationary. Several hose repairs with duct tape. Door had to be taped shut. I bought this one last month, Dec.2014. It's much the same as the other. Actually about the same price w/used-reconditioned model. I'm a little fearful because the new vacuum gets very hot. The other one didn't. Also, my old one had more sucking power. I used to change the bag when the old one got to the degree of sucking power that the new one has with a new bag. That's why I bought this one, because of the old one's sucking power. Not worth the expense and hassle of returning. If you're thinking of purchasing this model because of the performance of an older model, beware........It's one year later. I purchased (Eureka Style MM Cloth Re-usable Bag) so I could re-use the cloth bag. It made all the difference in the world with the sucking power. Now it draws like the older model I had. Still the vacuum gets very hot. Also at the end of a usage, I unplug it and the plug and cord are very hot to the touch. I'm pretty sure that's not good and eventually could be problematic. Again, my first model never felt hot at all......

Great vac at first, but looses suction over time; be careful not to hit sides of it
October 23, 2016
The suction on this vac is amazing. The best I have ever used. I am used to dragging a vac behind me and concentrating on the area I'm working so I must have banged the side of the vac at some point -- likely more than once. Anyway, the wheel "hub" that covers the exhaust kept falling off. At first it would snap back on for a few minutes before falling off again (very annoying to keep stopping and putting it back on) until it finally wouldn't stay on at all. I still use the vac . I know there has to be some dirt blowing back into the house based on the color of the filter that was in the exhaust, but I am still getting up an amazing amount with this machine. If you buy it, be careful not to slam the sides into anything. It's now 2 years later and I wanted to update my review. The suction that was so great has really diminished. I saw another review where the purchaser had the same problem; except much sooner than I did. He took it apart and found there was a design flaw that caused the vac to become blocked inside; he recommended taking it apart and cleaning it out. I am not handy and will try to unblock mine but would never have bought this model if I had known.
Picks up pet hair, has major design issues.
May 16, 2016
I sucks up pet hair like a champ, but it has design issues. It steers like a tank, falls over all the time.Hose is too shortWands are too shortPower cord is too short by 1/2, I have to unplug and replug it in, in every room. I didn't have to do that with my Tristar.Tearing it apart to clean every time is a pain in my back.No exhaust to hook up to use as a blower.Needs to be a floor brush that is just a brush without all the extra plastic and crap. I can't pick up tiny cat food kibble with out lifting it so the kibble can get in, so do not expect to pick up anything of much size without extra effort.Bin is too small and messy to dump. I didn't have to get that nastiness all over me with my Tristar (may it rest in peace, it lived to me 20)I probably missed something, I curse it for just about everything every time I use it, but it does pick up the cat hair. I will not buy another Eureka, ever.I do wish these companies would hire women to design what women use.
Not the Most Ideal Vacuum
March 28, 2016
Excellent on tile floors, a great Hepa Filter, and low price which are the reasons for purchase. Not so good for rugs, not even small ones, seems to require a lot of effort and running through more than a few times before it's completely cleaned. Given this is a compact size vacuum the small dust cup requires change a few times during a cleaning round. Otherwise if not changed, the suction will stop spinning and likely cause a burn out. The vacuum itself is kind of difficult/clumsy to handle, the parts at times will separate, and the rotation of the vacuum isn't smooth while moving around-- but it's a cheap vacuum, so keep expectations low. Lastly, while searching for vacuums, something to consider is size. Though it is labeled lightweight/compact, it takes up a lot of storage space with the wand and hose, would not recommend for a small space. Keeping the extra brush heads together with the vacuum doesn't exist so be sure not to misplace your tools.
So much so that the vacuum head that comes with it is not easy to slide across the floor
October 30, 2015
So light I can pick up the canister and walk around with it if I wanted to and I have chronic back problems. This vac has plenty of suction!! So much so that the vacuum head that comes with it is not easy to slide across the floor. I have mid-sized carpet and bare floors. It works great on the bare floors!! However, when you switch it to the carpet ( a regular carpet in an apartment that is not Berber It suctions down onto and is very hard to slide. depending on the carpet level the elderly would have a problem pushing and pulling it back and forth to vacuum. I have berber area rugs and it suctioned down to those too. I had to put the vacuum head out in front of me and pull it back instead of back and forth. So we ended up purchasing 1.25 Inch (32mm) Universal Vacuum Cleaner Turbo Tool Attachment Brush Floor Tool with Swivel Head by 4YourHome which also has the tab on the back to hold it to the Eureka when not in use.Now it slides very well but compromised the suction. I do not want to return the Vacuum because it is very versatile. I did not read anywhere that it came with any attachments, so I bought the replacement dusting brush Amazon brought up to buy with the vacuum but, does come with a dusting and a nozzle attachment. It is very easy to dump out and to clean. The cord is short but the hose so long so that makes up for some length. I have had a few Eurekas and they have never disappointed me except for this VACUUM HEAD that comes with it NEEDS FRONT WHEELS and it would be perfect. 1.25 Inch (32mm) Universal Vacuum Cleaner Turbo Tool Attachment Brush Floor Tool with Swivel Head****UPDATE***** Now that I have had this vacuum for a few months I am rewriting my review and looking for a new vacuum. The head that comes with the vacuum is hard to push across the carpet floor. SO, I bought the turbo head wich ended up helping but cut way down on the suction, you have to clean it all the time so it will spin. SO I bought another head to use that is supposed to go smooth and it does not no matter how much you open the vent on the handle for less suction and now the suction has dropped dramatically with or without a carpet head on it.They say that it does not loose suction bu the air intake gets clogged and you have to clean it out in the sink. I have had many bagless vacs before, this vacuum tries hard to be something it is not. It is great for an apartment or dorm. I am very disappointed because now that I am looking for another vacuum ( and I love Eureka) I realize for just a little more I could have had a much better vacuum that comes with tools unlike this one that only come with the carpet, but really only bare floor head and a crevis tool. It has a very short cord which at first didn't bother me until I moved to a new home that has more square feet and I have to continualy empty the container and move to a new plug.
NOT for "short nap" carpet
July 25, 2015
If you're considering this for short nap carpet, you should definitely read the other 3/2 star ratings here. How ironic- finally a canister with strong suction, and it turns out . . ., it sucks "too well" !! The strong suction brings it so close to the carpet, that it drags considerably. If you reduce the suction on the handle (by opening the "bypass") it works a bit easier, but is still very hard to push along. I can't believe the great ratings, and can only guess those folks bought it mainly for hardwood floors. Ours is a tight berber, so maybe it's ok for shaggier rugs.I might consider trying to attach some glides to raise the head, otherwise I'll return it. .
...not possible to move forward over the carpet
April 24, 2013
At first, I don't know, if it is only a problem of the device I got or we have a carpet with an unfavorable height...But after the really "easy going" assemble I tried to clean our carpet with this new vacuum. It was nearly not possible to move the tool forward over the carpet, since one edge of the head always was stucking in the carpet. Only if I bend myself down and do it with increased effort, I was possible to go on. To pull the tool is no problem... but who clean his carpet by movin always in one direction? My wife was not even able to move the tool at all, so its not the question of how tall you are. The device is absolutely useless for us.What actually is a pity since we like the design and it really light-weight, the hose is good and the suction is better than you aspect from such a small vac.But thats all second-rated if you cant move the tool over the floor to clean. ;-(I checked the bottom of the tool and I saw the edge which is probably blocking if it stucks in the carpet. The good suction brings it so close to the carpet, that it stucks in it. If you reduce the suction on the handle (by opening the "bypass") it works a bit easier, but than you lose suction and its still not easy going.a pity... nice for all the others it seem to work for...2 Stars left because you can clean bare floors easy...

Power Switch Stopped Working
July 24, 2017
the power switch stopped working on the 30th day of having it. luckily it was within the time frame to be eligible for amazons warranty. i thought that i used it too much and it was some sort of safety thing so it did not over heat. so i waited an hour and it still did not work. the power button didnt do anything.
Disappointing.
January 28, 2017
This is the third mighty mite I've purchased. I loved the other two and they each lasted several years before all the attachments and wheels started falling apart - but even when I replaced them the motors were still going strong. I've had this new one for two weeks and I'm very disappointed. I don't know what's wrong but it doesn't have anywhere near the suction power of the others. I changed the bag and checked all the attachments for blockage, but it's been bad since day one. I'm even wondering if it's got the smaller 9amp motor instead of the 12amp I ordered. It says 12amp on the box but I can't find anywhere on the actual vacuum that tells the amps. Anyway, it really isn't going to work for me and I'm going to have to go with another brand. Very frustrating waste of time and money.
a tad disappointed
September 6, 2016
The attachment meant for doing drapes does not work - very poor design. The attachments do not fit tightly to the wand. The power adjustment on wand is a little too simple, you open or close an opening on the wand. I am most disappointed by the soft (drapery) attachment, it does not have any suction a very poor design, I had wanted to use it on corners of my hard wood floors and on walls for cob webs. Oh well you get what you pay for. I had a Eureka canister vacuum during the 1990's and it was great! wish I still had it.
Annoying Design
October 9, 2015
I gave it two stars because the suction was great, and I loved how lightweight the canister vacuum was compared to others, but I am going to end up donating this one. The attachments have a poor design, and I am constantly having to reattach the tubes because the slightest twist causes them to come out. The ring that adjusts the power of the suction keeps sucking in my shirt, which I also have to keep pulling away from the vacuum. I wanted to really love this, and I gave it an honest try. I even tried duct taping the tubes together. This vacuum has made me hate this chore even more than I already do though. I will have to try something else.
It's cheap and will break soon. But it does the job when you need it.
October 6, 2015
Pros:-It's affordable. All the other vacuums I had on my list were $150+, and I could not afford something of that cost at the time.-Reliable brand name. I had the Eureka hand vacuum as a college student, and that monster did the job so well for three long years in a dusty dorm room that I thought this might also be worth the money.Cons:-CANNOT handle hair in any shape or form. Mine broke in about three months after a ball of hair and duest (all female housemates + 1 dog) got caught in the roller part + long, unremovable arm of the vacuum. We had to bend a curtain rod to get it all out. After that it was just a downhill slope. We had to trash it within 6 months' of purchase.-Very loud. I get very self conscious about vacuuming even at acceptable hours of the day -- it's quite loud (loud enough for downstairs neighbors to hear) and brings my tinnitis back if I get too close to it.-Super cheap plastic. Obviously you're getting what you paid for. the small wheels on the bottom roller part wore out after a few months of vacuuming my hardwood floors. The removable part of the vacuum coil also often falls off, because it's plastic/bendable/doesn't fit too well.Suggestion for use:-If you have hardwood floors, I would extensively sweep the floor before using this vacuum. I think that could have been one way of lengthening the life of this vacuum -- it would reduce a lot of the hair blockage inside the vacuum.-Clean out the bottom roller part of the vacuum (the part that actually does the vacuuming) every time after vacuuming. That way, buildup doesn't accumulate too much over time.Bottom line review: Bought it in an emergency, regretted it, would retrospectively pay $100 extra to get a decent vacuum that'll last more than six months.
Cheap Cheap Cheap.
April 19, 2015
I was excited about getting this vacuum cleaner as the reviews were good. Here is my take on it now I have owned it for a couple of months:Pros: . The actual unit is good quality and has fantastic suction. I also like the fact the dirt and pet hair get contained in a bag so it keeps it clean and mess free when emptying it. Also you can switch sides to either suck or blow.Cons: Cheap cheap cheap plastic hose and extension tubes. Good grief they are cheap. Cheap also is the Actual floor attachment, and yes it DOES scratch my hardwood floors - will have to upgrade that. Also the electric cord is cheap and does not bend well, you have to wrap it around the bottom of the canister. I used to have a lovely little Sears Kenmore number where you just pressed a button and the entire cord automatically retracted into the unit - brilliant. Eureka was shortsighted in going cheap on these issues when the actual unit is good! Lastly if you look at the picture of the woman vacuuming a floor you can see that using both extension tubes makes it too tall for her...well...yeh....me too. So I am left with only using one of the tubes which means I have to bend down! It's either or. So I vote NO do not buy this. If Eureka listened and changed things maybe I would again buy one but make them take back the one I own now.

Broken in 3 months
March 13, 2016
Bought this because my dyson upright broke. Obviously paid much less, suction is comparable, mechanism similar. Found header to maneuver light wand than upright when suction is strong, took a bit to get used to. Very light and easy to carry upstairs. Small canister size requires frequent emptying and it's messier than dyson, I don't recommend it to people with dust allergy. Lager wheel makes it steady despite of the size, but on the other hand, it sometimes get caught in a corner. Overall not bad for the price.Edit - so it worked ok for a while. I didn't like the fact I I have to empty it so often and it often required pulling dust out with a stick. The lower half of the canister got dusty in the process I had to wipe it every time I empty it. I still told myself that I can't complain for the price. Until the final blow. The fastener of the canister lid broke that I can't carry it by the handle because it falls apart. I wouldn't buy any from this manufacturer anymore.
Do not purchase if you have a dog that sheds
February 21, 2016
One year ago, had you asked me, I would have rated this vacuum 5 stars. I sang it's praises--it was light, cleaned so well and so inexpensive. AND THEN--we got a dog. She is a Border Collie/Australian Shepard mix. We have only previously had a Siberian Husky who shed in clumps. THIS breed sheds beautiful white fur EVERYWHERE during certain times of the year; even though she is groomed and brushed. That being said, it was as if my sweet little vacuum had a nervous breakdown and COMPLETELY stopped having any suction. It won't spin. It won't pick up even HUMAN hair! It is so useless on my few throw rugs, that I end up picking up bits by hand. It barely picks up a cheerio. I loved this little machine prior to our dog, but if you have a pet, I would not consider this vacuum.
Great at first, died quickly
October 25, 2015
I had used the vacuum maybe 5 or 6 times on my kitchen floor (never on carpet) before it began to make a slow whirring sound, lost its suction and smelled like it was burning. I let it cool down but when I try to use it again I got the same results immediately. I am disappointed because it basically is still new given how infrequently I use it. We emptied the canister each time. I also checked the filter. Looks nearly new too. We don't have a pet so the vacuum wasn't doing any heavy duty clean...mostly crumbs and such. I've reached out to Eureka and will update my post after customer service gets back to me. I am hoping I was unfortunate to get the one wonky vacuum and that a replacement will work better. It's over 30 days so can't return to Amazon.
revised review
January 11, 2015
This arrived quick. I have used it for a week and very happy with it so far. The suction is great. Materials are sturdy and not flimsy. It works well on my carpet as well as the floor. Easy to put together and emptying the dust bin is very simple and straightforward.9/25/2016 Although I was very happy with this vacuum while it worked, I am sorry to report that it just died after less than 2 years infrequent usage. Very disappointed. There was a strong burning odor and it died.
Absolute junk. Everything broke, even with very little use.
July 22, 2014
I am not loving this at all. Very hard to use on rugs. Gets clogged easily. Cord is WAY too short. All in all, I wish I had gone with the Dyson cannister.Update: This vacuum ended up breaking very quickly. The place where the wand hooks onto the body for storage broke. The bottom of the dust canister broke, so you can no longer close it. The part where the dust canister attaches to the base also broke, so you can't lift the machine any more. Have lowered the star rating to a one.Definitely do NOT recommend. AVOID.
So disappointed.
April 23, 2014
I ordered this 4 months ago. The first two times I used this on my low pile area rugs and hardwood floors it was great. And that's it….no suction, nothing. I've cleared everything several times and it just doesn't work anymore. Would never recommend this to anyone. Waste of money.

Disappointed.
September 17, 2017
I had several of these in the past. All of them lasted more than two years of heavy use. This one is a piece of junk. Got it July 10. The plastic around the wheel cracked and therefore, the suction power sucks (no pun intended). I fixed it with tape, but the plastic keeps cracking. I do not know if this one is made in another country, but is obvious that the quality is really bad. Very dissapointed. Would not buy again. And You shouldn't .
Terrible quality now
September 12, 2017
I bought two of these, because my last one lasted so long and was great, and I could gift one to my kids. The quality of these vacuums is horribly degraded. They are cheaper feeling and now it is September and they are both broken! One came out of the box broken and I intended to return it, but waited too long. So I was using the other one, and it quit with a burning smell and won't work at all. After talking to the vacuum store, the switches on the new ones are breaking and the reviews are really bad. The product line was sold by Sanitaire and they are now manufactured by the Shark company. Do yourself a favor and avoid these.
On off switch did not work and cheap plastic hose very disapointed
July 19, 2017
Cheap and doesn't work. A friend has one he bought several years ago and loves it. So I ordered one. Unpackaged and assembled it this morning... ready to go ...right? NOT !! It would not turn on. Apparently the on off switch does not work. Also ordered extra bags and and additional attachment for carpets. All being returned! After reading some of the other negative reviews I see several other folks have had the same issue, either at the start or after using it for several months. Also other reviews are right, the hose is cheap hard plastic..Not at allwhat I expected from a Eureka product. Packaging it all up for return today.
I am very disappointed with this vacuum
July 13, 2017
I am very disappointed with this vacuum. I've only had it about a year and did not even use it once a week and it no longer works. The other issue is that the blower feature had virtually no power and did not even blow off the leaves on my patio screens.
Arrived broken
June 7, 2017
This vacuum was highly recommended to me by a friend. It arrived broken. Power button did not work. The power button is basically a cheap plastic cover that you push to activate the button below. My vacuum did not have the actual button below the plastic. Sadly, I missed the return window because I was out of town for quite a while. I spent a lot of money on a piece of garbage. I went to Target and bought a Shark brand cordless vacuum that works great on removing pet hair for half the price.
Don't bother.
March 12, 2017
Vacuum motor revved and got hot 3 minutes into using it in a flat rug. Sent back promptly. Hose is cheap and will not last. Don't bother with this one.
