Tapped into the positive 12v required by tapping into the reverse light. Ran another wire back to the front and connected it to the reverse signal wire on the back of the JVC KW V21BT deck I installed. Excellent clarity. Very easy install. I'm pleased with this purchase and would buy it again if needed. Great camera for the price..excellent viewing image and adjustable.May 13, 2017 Great camera for the price. My city vehicle did not have a backup camera. This is a perfect option for something that you don't want to spend tons of money on or permanently mount. No drilling..just remove license plate bolts and then bolt them back on with the camera under. Works great and lights up too with the LED when in use. True 180 degrees or very close to it (close enough for sure) The grid lines are also adjustable so you can move them to whatever width you want so they actually show your track width. You can also adjust the picture angle in 90 degree increments. That's what actually got me to read the instructions - because the picture was a mirror image (reverse) of what was actually behind the truck. The instructions also indicate that you can move the grid lines up or down, but I haven't messed with that yet. You can also just turn them off if you don't want them. Night vision is excellent. | Good picture but push button control unit is a weaknessAugust 23, 2017 Updated review: 9/23/2017I am changing this review from 1 star to 4 stars because the seller contacted me immediately and sent me a new unit. Great customer service!I am withholding one star because of the push button control unit. It requires a very precisely timed sequence of pushing buttons to operate. I consider myself dexterous with good reflexes and was unable to get it to change any of the higher modes such as guideline width, etc. I was lucky to get the unit to display the correct left-right-up-down viewpoint and to get the guidelines to display. This was sufficient for my purposes so I stopped at that point. The higher modes such as guideline width may be theoretically possible but practically almost no one will be able to use them because of the push button control unit. Also inspecting the control unit carefully, I suspect that it is not quite waterproof and may get damaged during an automatic car wash if it is exposed to any water.Original review: 8/23/2017I installed this as a front camera on my Toyota Tundra. I suspect that the push button control unit has been malfunctioning from Day One. It would occasionally display an upside down picture, show or hide the gridlines, etc. The problem has slowly become more frequent, and today, I can't get the camera to display a normal picture, no matter what I do. It cycles between a blank screen and a black and white picture that is flipped from left to right.It is still within the warranty period, hopefully the vendor will see this. After my review I received an email from Dreamee with ThousandShores Inc. I explained to her the issue and she sent me new camera which arrived in a few days. I installed the new one and haven't had any issues with it. It works exactly as it should, when I go through the car wash it will be iffy at first but once everything dries it's fine. I wish there was a way to turn off the LED's just because in the rain it makes it difficult to see. For an inexpensive backup camera you can't go wrong with this. Just don't compare it to one you'd pay $200 for. Good Camera... Poor Lighting at nightAugust 9, 2017 This camera is amazing during the day looks like HDTV. However at night the lights blur the view more than it helps you see. It’s nearly impossible to use it at night with the lights on it, I covered them up with tape and you can see better but not in a dark lot etc. that is a major turn off when I expect the camera to work great at all times.I have my camera hooked up to my Kenwood unit in my truck. Works as advertised, worth the price.June 27, 2017 This does what I wanted and enables me to use it as a rearview mirror with my Camry's Entune screen (with a separate Toyota specific adapter). This helps at night since the rear windows were tinted by the previous owner.I like that it has an option to not have the guidelines on the video output for this reason. I also like that the camera is "locked" in position by set screws rather than relying on friction or a racheting mechanism.On my license plate, the screws had to go on the most inside section of the holes. This is not a problem.The manual isn't very good, although there isn't much to know from the device. The control button settings could be a bit more clear though. Other than that, I'm satisfied! They have great service and will assist you in case if you have any problems.When I read some of the reviews for this product, I was scared. but for me it actually worked well. Good picture at day, at night a bit blurry but still fine. Some people mentioned that the image is reversed, but changing the feature through the click fixes that. Even if i turn off my car then on, the last feature that I clicked is saved (some mentioned that the view resets).The downsides:Understanding this clicking thing to change the view is awful, there's no logic just luck into getting it.It's in the truck, you have to go back and ask someone to help you look at the screen insideThe lines that appear to help you park are useless and false, if you depend on them you will hit something, so the camera just serves as seeing exactly what's behind you but not to tell you the dimensions. so unless you love that little light on in front/behind of your car ...May 31, 2016 PROS/CONS:The light always stays on, so unless you love that little light on in front/behind of your car I don't recommend it.PROS:1) In the back it's more useful because it helps to illuminate areas that aren't already illuminated.2) The design is very sturdy and it has a nice aluminum body.3) The video quality is good.CONS:1) In the front, the light doesn't help very much unless the camera is pointed at the ground and even then it's not more effective at illuminating the road than your car headlights.2) It is very heavy. Make sure it is screwed in tight to avoid any problems. In most cases, I recommend getting a long screw altogether to make sure that you have an ample amount of thread to keep it from getting loose. | | | | |

Haven't had it long enough to do a real review but it's working up to this point. Good luck. Once I fixed the poor assembly, put electric tape over the inner 4 ...December 28, 2016 Leds aren't infared so they are on whenever the camera is on. For the same reason, they produce a heavy glare on both sides of the picture at night.Also, for what it's worth, I had to disassemble the camera and flip the camera itself. Camera has a 45° range of motion on the pivot, and in my case, once installed right side up, the pivot would only let it point up, and the image was upside down. Once I fixed the poor assembly, put electric tape over the inner 4 leds (glare block), the camera was tolerable. Good build but still a bad product.November 4, 2016 The camera has issues and I'll break it down as best as I can for you. It is one of the more expensive models that Esky offers and for the money, it's not worth it in my opinion.Pros:- Very solid build quality. The body of the camera and the license plate mount are of heavy and solid metal material.- The LED lights are plenty and bright. This is also a really big Con, more on this later.Cons:- The supplied cable for video to ththe head unit is fairly short. I have a small Prius and I was barely able to reach the front of the car without having run out of the yellow video cable.- The supplied power cable is also very short. I had to add an extension using 16 gauge wires. There is no way to be able to mount this camera on to the lift part of your trunk and have the cable concealed and connected at the same time.- The cables are of really, really thin gauge. They're basically a few strands put together.- The LED lights are of zero benefit in the daytime.- The LED lights are of zero benefit during night time.- The LED lights completely have a terrible glare at the edges during night time use and sort of create a blind spot.- It's not a true 180 degree view.- The image has a stutter while it's displaying on the head unit. I don't know if that's the camera or the Headunit. I have a Pioneer AVIC-8100 NEX.- The unit doesn't always come on when the car is put into reverse. You have to go back to drive and then into reverse more than once to turn the camera on at times.Overall, I was hoping for this to be a good backup camera, but I was underwhelmed by the above mentioned cons. I will be returning mine for a different unit. Extremely fuzzy video qualityJune 21, 2016 Had it professionally installed with a Pioneer X2800BS and while it does work, the video quality leaves a lot to be desired... it's extremely fuzzy but since I only needed so I don't back up on the kids constantly playing outside our garage, it works for that purpose. I missed the return period cuz I got lazy and quite frankly been too bz. Definitely would not recommend this. I should've bought the prior cheaper version. Stay away from this one unless you are eager to do returns.*update*Esky reached out to me for an exchange even though I was outside of the Amazon exchange period. We did that. I did not like that I had to send it back in first but whatevers, beggars can't be choosers... lol received another one and it's still the same so it's just incompatible with my headunit I guess, that or it really isn't that good. Either way it works fine for my purposes and Esky even offered to take the 2nd one back but I didn't want to deal w/ the hassle though I should've since this mode wasn't cheap at all. Could've gotten a cheaper $15 version which probably would've worked the same or better. However, I applaud the company for reaching out and offering to refund me twice. Can't think of too many companies who would bother with that which is why I upgraded my rating to 3. Great camera if you can get one that worksJanuary 14, 2016 This is a very good camera if you can get one that works. It took me 3 of them to get one that worked. It is very easy to hook up the red wire is your power and the black and red is the ground hook these up to your revers light at the rear car and hook up your yellow video wire to you screen or stereo on one end and the camera on the other end. If you are hooking this up to a stereo you will need to hook up the reverse wire on your stereo to reverse wire either in your kick panel or you have to run a wire back to the reverse light at the rear of the car. You will want to do this when you run your yellow video wire down your frame to save yourself from doing this twice. The light green wire goes to the break switch wire under your dash. I would have give it 5 stars if it hadn't taken me 3 cameras to get one that worked | | | | |
