Great camera
February 21, 2017
Great camera so far. I haven't used it a lot so far. But I like the pictures so far. It is easy to use so far. I would recommend this camera to anyone who needs a new camera. Also it is a very lightweight camera. Try it you will love it.
Works good.
April 30, 2016
Have had this camera for a couple of years. We do not use it as much as we should, but have taken hundreds of pictures; even a few videos. It came with a case as I recall and we purchased an extra battery and memory card; we have not needed the extra memory card yet! The extra battery comes in handy on trips because the charger is rather bulky and we have not taken it along on trips. We do not have a cell phone that takes good pictures that we can download easily; so we rely heavily on the camera for pictures.
Cannon PowerShot A2500 is a very nice camera with choices
March 27, 2014
The Cannon POWER SHOT A2500 is advertised as a POINT AND SHOOT so I was researching the camera for my own needs. I had a Panasonic HM-TA2 that was great for simple point and shoot shots but this winter it was destroyed in an accidental crushing ( don't ask ). The Panasonic was basically Point and shoot with not much more to change, only a few options, it's only down fall was the battery is not replaceable. I wanted to find an inexpensive POINT AND SHOOT and this camera caught my eye. You really need to look at what they are saying or even look at the USER MANUAL to understand this camera.POINT AND SHOOT - Yes, in AUTO MODE, this is a very good point and shoot camera. There is little you need to do but aim the camera. Even movie mode has a button just for filming movies and yes, point and shoot movies. The camera has an actual 5 power OPTICAL zoom and then it can go up to 15 power DIGITALLY. The quality is good with the optical zoom and the digital zoom can be from good to not the best but remember it all depends on light conditions, distance and if you zoom the picture up, you need to be absolutely STILL, no shaking or movements.BUT if you want a POINT AND SHOOT that you can address some of the picture processes, this one allows you to make changes as well, this is where the USER MANUAL will become very useful. This camera allows different settings from setting the telephoto lens, self timer timing to different optic image results. In all honesty, this is a lot of camera, for the price, for a point and shoot and with the option to be able to adjust your camera to your needs blows away any basic point and shoot camera. The camera itself is very small and when off, the lens will stow away into the body automatically and you can easily place it in your pocket. The weight of the camera is light so you are not uncomfortable lugging around a heavy camera, a plus if you are on vacation.I like the fact that the battery is replaceable, allowing the use of extra batteries and the memory cards can be exchanged with extreme ease.Ok, what you get, you get the camera in a box, a battery charger and a battery. You may think it is strange that the memory card is not included, but there are too many choices out there to select a good memory card and be clear on this, there is NO MEMORY built into the camera. YOU MUST PURCHASE A MEMORY CARD TO TAKE A SINGLE SHOT. There are several class of memory cards and unless you plan to use the rapid fire picture taking ( 10 shots rapid fire ), a class 4 would do. Other wise and keeping budding movie directors in mind, class 10 would be a great choice for MOVIE recording. You also do not get any cords. This one I didn't really understand. There are two cords you might need. One to connect the camera to the computer, and if you care to, one to connect the camera to the TV. You also do not get an outside power adaptor but there is a place on the cam to plug one in. The camera is interesting in low light shots and the cam has a small flash built in good for close shots. There is an optional HIGH POWER FLASH available to buy if you feel you need that kind of distance from a flash unit. All in all before you run out and buy all the accessories that you may not need, use the camera and get used to it and then determine what you need. You will need to download the user manual from the Cannon site and then spend time learning how to use the options. Again, if all you want is a good point and shoot, you'll hardly ever look at the User Manual but if you want to play with the options, the USER MANUAL is your friend.Look for the best price but also consider the accessories you need to get just to make the camera functional and buy the best deal. I found a site where the camera was dirt cheap but the accessories boost the price way too high.Whether you POINT AND SHOOT or want to adjust your camera to the shots, this camera can help you with your shots. Also look at the illustrations on UTUBE for a better idea. also, search the web for the Canon A2500 REVIEWs where individuals and review agencies have actually taken the camera out to see what it will do. Where they show pictures that this came has taken, they all look GREAT!For those coming from a camera like I had, this one would seem a bit over board for Point and Shoot but after you take a few shots in AUTO mode, it is as easy as pushing the button. It is a nice choice for a simple camera and a good choice for a starter camera for those who like to make adjustments or are new to the camera field. There are other cameras out there, My review is only about the Canon PowerShot A2500.This review was made on 03 27 2014
Nice Camera Still Learning
March 10, 2014
A2500 replaced a more expensive Canon I got through Amex rewards. While traveling on the train or on the street in Manhattan I lost it.. It was very sleek and slippery LOL Time went by, I found the need to have a camera beyong iphone, ipad. I ordered this camera and I am learning how to use it.What I have found is that I need to learn about: no blur, MACRO (close up) --for novices like me. I need wide lens features and the ability to fade out unwanted subject in the background.. I have not learned how to use all the features. I have taken very nice shots and not so nice shots experimenting. I find that sharpness is something to be explored in the manual. I am sure Canon tries to keep cost down by not providing a printed out manual but I wanted one and I did the unthinkable:-- printed it out! put it in a three ring binder! old school I guess! I can point and shoot as described in the product section of this listing. This camera is a nicely priced one and If I should get careless again only this time drive over it!, well it won't cost me an arm and a leg to replace!.. The manual consists of 109 pages! That means there is a lot to learn! I went to manual websites to see how much a manual would cost to buy. The manual service charges between $12.95 plus the shipping cost! and up.I had the typing paper and the ink so I printed it out!Hope this helps you! I am already researching another Canon digital 16 mega because I need close ups of moving animals! i.e. parrots! I would add I bought a .99cent cable UBS cord (reviewed) and two extra batteries from Clearmax and an extra battery recharger. The clearmax battery charges in one hour. The Canon battery that came with this camera charges in 21/2 hours. I bought a SD HC device/card 16GB. Remember: the SDHC card DOES NOT come with the camera. I am going to get a case and more accessories for my camera. Hope this helps! from a newbie
Good little camera for general use
January 26, 2014
Easy to use, fast to set up, compact, couldn't be happier. BTW, you can load the pics using just the flash memory card (I bought the SanDisk Ultra 16 GB) I was worried I wouldn't be able to load the pics to the computer without the (not included) UCB cord. The software tells you it "needs" the cord to select the right and appropriate yada yada...but that is not true because if you put the memory card into the computer the pictures load.
Good camera for the price
July 16, 2013
This is my 6th point and shoot (P&S) camera in 9 years, ranging in price from $200-$300. I have had 1 Bell & Howell, 3 Nikons and this is my 2nd Canon P&S camera. The last 2 P&S cameras I had I literally wore out by taking so many pictures. I bought this as a second camera for my husband (who doesn't usually take pictures) to use when he goes hunting with my son. I chose a Canon because I have a Canon DSLR and love it. I also wanted an inexpensive camera, because I thought it would sit on the shelf for most of the year. Of course it did not come with a memory card, as I have yet to buy any camera that does.To test this camera, after shooting indoors for a bit, I took it to the park. Luckily, what started out as a sunny day turned cloudy, allowing me to test the camera in different lighting. This is a typical low priced P&S camera. Like all P&S cameras, this one performs best in bright, outdoor lighting. However, the ease of use and quality of pictures for the small price tag makes this a good buy. This is one of the better P&S cameras I have had.Although no instruction manual was in the box (other than the very basics), it was easy to figure out how to manually set this camera, which is a must for me. I liked the fact that it has a PROGRAM setting, which allows me to set a program manually. Even if I switch to another setting, it saves my manual settings, allowing me to switch back and forth between settings. That was great when I tested it, because the lighting went from sunny to cloudy and back again. I could easily switch from AUTO to LANDSCAPE to PROGRAM (my manually programmed settings) and back, depending on lighting and activity, all while holding my 6 month old. The pictures I took while holding my baby (who was trying to grab the camera) of my 4 other children who were riding a moving train turned out surprisingly good. I also manually adjusted the ISO to 1600 and took some shots while holding my squirming baby, and the pictures were not as noisy as I thought they would be.This is a great camera for the price. I would definitely recommend it for anyone, especially those who are ready to do some manual adjustments to get better pictures, but not ready to spend a lot of money. I am glad I bought this camera, and I am happy because I think I will actually use it more than I originally thought!

Good value, and it's red!
June 3, 2014
My mom needed a new camera that provided a good zoom function and the ability to take decent family photos within my brother's and my Christmas spending budget. This camera was the answer. Bonus: mom's favorite color is red. She loves to use it and brings it with her to every family gathering. Even though she still forgets how to use the zoom function sometimes, she loves scrolling through the photos and sharing them with whoever's around to look, usually immediately after they were taken. Great for anybody who doesn't have a smart phone, but wants to share in the fun of constant digital documentation. Not recommended for selfie-taking.
Works well, canon repair is fast, allergic to moisture
March 20, 2014
This is probably the 4th of this Canon series we've owned, as we seem to need an upgrade every other year (pick-pockets in Buenos Aires, etc). The camera is affordable, easy to use, yet versatile (a good blend for two people with different skills).I will say that our visits to ocean-side have shown the camera to be a bit sensitive to water (ocean spray and it lost power) and sand (one tiny grain froze the lens motor). However, Canon has been generous, leaning towards 2 free camera repairs that was partly my fault because of this (here is the word of mouth they are hoping for!). The repair is a breeze with self-printing labels and email status.Oh and those sunset pictures from Costa Rica are priceless !
Great little camera for the price!
December 25, 2013
I ordered this for a Christmas gift to myself for the price point. After going through a lot of other sellers websites Amazon had the best price at the time. The camera arrived in 2 days and was opened immediately. Love the color. Camera has more features than I need but should be nice camera for what I use it for; photos of grandchildren and outdoor shots.Only drawback was that there is no a manual other than a brief tutorial. There are hints and tips built into the camera and an online 107 page manual is available. I did have some initial trouble with the Canon website but was eventually able to print it.The "case" is a flimsy piece of something so a real case will have to be purchased separately unless you buy the bundle.I've used it for moving targets, outdoor holiday displays, and portraits and all are crisp, clean, and blur free.So far, so good with this item.
I had to contact Amazon to get the free card and case advertised.
December 10, 2013
Camera just arrived. I bought it as a gift so I can't speak yet to the quality of the camera. It was supposed to come with a free memory card and case, but I didn't receive these. I just chatted with an Amazon representative who helped me place a free order for these. Looks like the memory card will ship out right away but the case does not have a delivery date yet. Hoping it will arrive before Christmas.
Birthday present for 10 year old daughter
October 29, 2013
She was extremely happy with it and has been taking beautiful photos with it. I actually did a lot of research to find a camera that was easy to use but took quality photos and wasn't expensive, but wasn't too cheap either. This camera will last her for years. Here's what I was looking for and found in this camera:1. "anti-shake" - it does have image stabilization - important for kids and my wife2. Zoom - 5x3. Modes - easy to select shooting modes for various situations.4. Nice size LCD display - 2.7 inch5. More megapixels than necessary - a bonus at 16 MP6. HD video recording7. She likes the color8. Just the right size for her9. SDHC card bought separately - which I prefer since I wanted to chose one myself.Of course it has many other features and functions that she will discover as she learns more about photography. Not an outstanding camera but for the price and convenience it is a great value.
A2500 a good camera
August 25, 2013
I like the 'one button' record on the back of the camera. When the power is on, you don't have to switch between photo and record, just press the record button. Takes great photos and video, but I wish it had a way to switch to 480p video when the 720 isn't necessary. Otherwise a nice camera.

Right down the middle on this camera works but just barely for my vids for you tube.
August 22, 2014
Got this because the cheap sony I got went from clear to blury constantly throughout my you tube video. This one takes in my opinion wonderful pics at least on both screens they look great to me, bit of bright eye with flash but that's expected. The flash is on left instead or right ez to accidently cover with hand but ez fix just be careful. The video was grainy and not that great at setting below hd, hd takes too long to upload on you tube so I don't use it. The grainy video is main reason for three stars the sony was clear as can be till it turned blury every ten seconds but was a lot clearer. I am pleased with this camera for 85.00 but just ok pleased will keep it unless problems arise and then will re write this review. It comes with no transfer cable a negative, why not? Battery only charges with supplied wall charger not with a cable. Films in .mov which I hear can be a problem for some. Feels cheap and flimsy all light plastic feeling. Light can be a plus though as well. It's a middle of the line ok camera for doing you tube videos and nothing special in my book. Haven't tried vids in low light, had all shades and spots on when I tested the one video.
Inadequate for my needs.
August 5, 2014
I didn't expect much from the Canon PowerShot after reading the reviews before making my purchase, but Canon is a good name and how bad can it be? I needed a pocket camera when my Lumix could not be fixed before our trip to Turkey, and I didn't want to spend a lot for a camera I probably would keep as a back-up. Well - I was wrong…it was bad. While the Canon shots taken outdoors came out okay, the indoor shots are fuzzy in low light when you shouldn't need a flash. The 5x zoom lens is inadequate for anything over 20 feet away if you want to capture any details of your subject matter, such as textiles. Seriously bad hand-shake, which is not the camera's fault but I want to point that out to anyone who has that problem, this camera is not for you. I will give the camera away to one of my nieces or nephews rather than keep it as a backup camera. Overall, I made a mistake and I'm writing this in hope it keeps someone else from doing the same.
Canon PowerShot A2500 16MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Image is an ok Camera as it takes great pictures
March 5, 2014
Canon PowerShot A2500 16MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Image is an ok Camera as it takes great pictures. It just has one queer flaw. If not fully charged, pictures taken with the device come out unreadable by any image software I have on my computer.I've tried everything to solve this problem. The fault seems to lie with the Battery Charge; if it falls below a certain level and you take a photograph, it renders it unreadable. Great Camera for photojournalism and stock photography but I'm finding it hard to rely on it in a pinch to take photos and have access to them when I return home
No instruction book comes with it.
December 31, 2013
The camera itself seems to be a good product but when I bought it I was of the understanding that a memory card and carrying case came with the camera. Not so, I got nothing. It doesn't even come with an instruction book. There is a pamphlet that tells you how to put in the battery, etc. etc. If you really want to know how to use the camera you have to go online and look up the instruction book. It is 30 or 40 pages long so if you are going to print it off it will take a while. O.K, it's probably easy to use if you have a cell phone that takes pictures, movies, etc. etc., or are familiar with stuff like this. I happen to be from the older generation and I do not have a cell phone, nor do I want one. It seems to me that a book of instructions could at least be included with the purchase. I would recommend the camera, but to who? Anyone with the cell phone that costs hundreds of dollars to own and operate would probably have no use for a camera such as this.
Beware this is an economy camera
December 6, 2013
This isn't a bad camera per se, but it's an economy camera so be prepared if you're used to even slightly more expensive Canon P&S'.I broke my Elph 100 HS and needed a cheap every day camera for daily use at work. Since it's a work camera and I have a tendency to break them every 18-24 months I figured I would go cheap. The A2500 came with a rechargeable battery and undercut other Canon P&S' by a good $30-40 so I figured why not.I knew I was giving up OIS and LCD size, those things show up on the specs, but here are some things to be aware of:1 - It's all plastic construction, not metal, and it feels like it.2 - The controls are "dumbed down" from previous Canon P&S, the focus mode selector (Left on D-pad - Macro, normal, infinite) now selects eco mode (how often is that something you change?), and the exposure selector (up on d-pad) is now delete/mode selector.3 - The battery is small, not sure how long it'll last4 - Despite using the same DIGIC 4 processor as the Elph 100 HS, the continuous shooting speed is much lower (using the same memory card from the Elph)1, 2 and 3 I can live with, but 4 may be a deal breaker for me because I use the continuous shooting all the time. The picture quality is excellent for an economy unit. If you're not picky or expecting something that feels more like other Canon P&S camera's this may be the value you're looking for. If you can go for the extra $30-40 I'd recommend moving up a model.
Not what I expected
October 19, 2013
I got this camera to replace a Sony cybershot that gotten broken. I saw a lot of good reviews, and I even researched it in comparisons to other similar cameras. I found through everything that I read that it was a nice family camera with some good capabilites to help with auto focusing and such. I was pretty excited to test it out after I had read all the good stuff said, but when I got down to testing all of its capabilties I found it to fall short of all of the expectations.Pros: the color the video button.Cons:Most photos are grainyIt takes terrible inside photosauto focus doesn't seem to workphotos always seem to blur whether the target is moving or stillall of the camera settings are mediocrehave to take the battery out to charge itdoes not come with a computer cordI could go on and on about all the things this camera disappointed me with, but I think it may just be because my sony was just awesome. I just expected more from a camera that just debuted in February of this year. I mean I guess this camera will work for me since it was only $85, but I just had really expected more from what everyone said. Also the outdoor pictures seem to only look good if your taking pictures of scenary.

Wish I hadn't bought the Canon PowerShot A2500, but it takes good pics!!!
December 18, 2015
Wish I hadn't bought it!!! This is a review for the Canon PowerShot A2500. This camera, as well as Canon's other products are NOT easy to use or figure out. You really need to have the instruction manual with you all the time. If you can figure out how to use it, it takes good pics, but using the camera on my phone is way easier to use!!!This camera does take good pics when you finally figure out how to use it, but it isn't just as simple as Pointing and Clicking!!! Someone asked about the accessories. Here's what came in the box: The camera Canon PowerShot A2500), a carrying strap, the battery (Battery Pack NB-11L), the battery charger, and a power cord (which I never used.) So, yes it does come with accessories. If you bought one that didn't, you need to return it!!!
It takes photos... just not good photos.
January 21, 2015
I bought this camera to replace a Nokia point-and-click and was hoping this would be easy to use and produce decent quality photos... Not so much. There is an annoying time lapse in between photos and changing settings - it's just not quick to respond. The photos are often blurry - especially if you want to take a photo of something close up. Regardless of using the proper setting, if you want to take a photo of still blades of grass - expect the photo to be poor quality and weirdly focused. I considered sending it back right away, that's how instantly unimpressed we were. It takes photos and it sits around the house somewhere, but it's not what we were hoping for.
figuring that some folks were not used to digital cameras and the need for perfect lighting to take good
September 10, 2014
I bought this after reading some of the negative reviews and partially dismissing them, figuring that some folks were not used to digital cameras and the need for perfect lighting to take good, crisp pictures. This will be the first product I've ever returned to Amazon after ~10 years of ordering on-line.After charging the battery I took a few shots around the house. First thing I noticed and did not like was that the image on the display was incredibly grainy. I've never seen something like this on any of my digital devices. Second thing was the delay. It took seconds for the camera to autosense the need for the flash. Third thing was while using even a tiny bit of zoom the image stabilization did not work. Half of my shots were blurry. The last thing was that I took a picture of my daughter wearing a pink top with a pink towel on her hair. The color was wayyyyy over saturated. To the point that my wife said it was too bright to even look at the picture. I bought this for an upcoming cruise since I don't want to lug around my SLR and need a pocket camera and need something with zoom capabilities. This camera fails. It may work if you need a cheap camera that takes OK pictures without using zoom but beware that if you enlarge the image on your compute screen you will see that there is no detail in the enlarged image. Off to check out the powershot SX280. Cameras at this priced point are not worth the money.
You get what you paid
May 27, 2014
Cheap appearance, but I'd be OK with that if the quality of the pictures were anything close to good. But it's not. They are grainy, unless you have noon sunlight over your head on a cloud-less day. In the shade?! Good luck. And, for a point-and-shoot, the camera is very susceptible to the minimum movements of your hands, bearing no anti-shaking features. Sporting 16MP does you no good if the quality of the photos aren't good, you will just end up with very large poor-quality pictures that will "occupy" (a.k.a. waste space on) your Hard Drive. I gave this to my 9 y.o. son for him to play with, and he's happy recording movies and taking his very own pictures... at the end of the day, this is what your money got you, a toy camera from a famous manufacturer. I just loaded it with a large SD card and told him to take hundreds of pictures... the laws of statistics make about 10% of them usable, ultimately.
Problems with delay in between taking pictures
April 28, 2014
I ended up returning the camera due to problems with the camera, but here are the comments I had after my short time with it:Pro:+Decent features considering the price+Compact size, very similar to the Canon ELPH series+Good picture quality. Better than my smartphone which was one of my ultimate desires+Rechargeable and removable batteryCons:-Extremely minor and probably not worth mentioning, but my previous Canon came with a small plastic piece to tighten/loosen the loop on the string that attaches to the camera. Depending on the shot, I like to tighten the loop around my wrist in case I drop the camera-Lag between photos. This is the reason I returned the camera. I found I was missing lots of shots because of the delay in between taking photos. No other reviews on Amazon mentioned lag between taking photos and there is a noticeable difference even between this canon and my 5 year old canon I intended to replace. I picked this camera over a Nikon with a couple more features I would have rather had because the Nikon had lots of reviews mentioning horrible lag between photos.I realize this is a very short review, bu given my short time with the camera its all I could think of and based on the camera I received.
User Guide is MISLEADING & CONFUSING
January 11, 2014
Upon receiving my camera, I was reading the User Guide. I read that it was supposed to come with a Power Cord. The Power Cord was NOT in with the camera and other accessories. I contacted Amazon about this, they sent me another one. Same thing happened. NOT HAPPY!! I thought about contacting Canon about this issue, but I have already wasted enough of my time on this. I just will NOT purchase any Canon products!!! VERY MISLEADING AND CONFUSING

Possibly a refurb
October 28, 2015
I have used it 3 times and it is broken. :( This is not a good quality camera at all. I guess I should have just bought one from Walmart. I wonder if this one was refurbished or something. Three times and its broken- not a good camera.
Not Satisfied. Refurbished.
July 5, 2015
Camera is not what I expected. This is refurbished.
Not good if you have kids.
April 28, 2015
I should have paid attention to the other 1 star reviews. The shutter delay ruins this camera. It has so many features, seems they forgot to make it actually be able to just simply "point and shoot"!!The manual actually says in different places: "...images will be blurry if you move the camera (or the subject moves) before the shutter sound ends."The delay on the shutter is so slow. By the time it's done snapping the picture, your subject has moved and you get an odd shot. So the shutter is slow even if you follow the manual and think you have it set up to take action shots, but then it has to process to the memory card which creates an even larger lag between shots, even if you have a high performance memory card.My iphone recovers so much faster than this camera. It's impossible to take pictures of moving kids with this.I don't understand the 5 star reviews.
Waste of money if you want a camera that can keep up with your children
June 18, 2014
My mother in law and sister in law ranted and raved about this camera so when it came time to replace my old camera that I bought back in 2007, I decided to trust them and buy this camera. My previous camera was a Nikon Coolpix S4 that I bought for a trip to Portugal and over the years, people have always commented how great the pictures I take were. My niece even asked me to be her wedding photographer which I had to decline due to having two small children. Anyway, back to this camera. My first experience with the camera was a family vacation with my husband and two daughters (age 2 and 4 months old). I found that it took forever to take a picture and the camera got confused at times at what "scene" it was. Example, we were at a indoor water park and the camera had issues taking pictures since it kept rotating through the different scenes on Auto mode. My husband came down two slides and I missed shots of both. Using this camera to take a picture of my kids who can't sit still is impossible. This camera does not do well with action shots. I did use this camera to take pictures at my niece's wedding (not as the main photographer thankfully) and it struggled to take shots of the bride and her father coming up the aisle. Compared with my old camera, it takes 50% longer to take a picture. Needless to say, I will be gifting this camera to some teenager who doesn't have high expectations. It is well worth to just spend another $100 and get a much better camera. If you have kids and want a camera that takes quick shots, THIS IS NOT THE CAMERA. I even tried to do the manual setting and the camera still took forever to take pictures. What was frustrating as well was as I reviewed my pictures from my vacation, some of them are blurry since I guess I didn't hold the button down long enough for it to focus before I took the shot. I have two kids and don't have time for such silliness so I am going to cut my losses and move on :-)
How should I know how well it works?

Received camera, charged up the battery, inserted a memory card, read the instructions & pushed the "On" button. Lens doesn't open completely. Try gently turning camera off, waiting 15sec., turning on again. Same thing, lens won't open. This time the screen gives the error message "Lens error-Will shut off automatically-Restart camera". What? *sigh* Fine. Try it a few more times; sometimes getting the error message & sometimes not. Now, I have to hassle with return & refund, because I cannot get a replacement. Trip starts in 2 weeks. Oh boy...

worst camera ever, taking a photo whilst being still can cause blurry image. Video recording has low definition video with poor quality sounds. For all this money, its a total rip-off and not worth every cent.
