Better than more expensive ones
March 4, 2017
Have purchased more expensive ones, $80 to $120. This ones is my favorite
Gets the job done for the price
July 28, 2016
Purchasing this product varies a lot on how intense you are with your cooking. I am not that picky because I am not constantly hosting parties or dinners. If I was a host most of the time, I would probably choose a different product because the cuts haven't come out aesthetically pleasing for me , personally (I might still be getting the hang of it). I really wanted to try the waffle blade on potatoes, but I didn't have potatoes on me at the time so the pictures show the very first apple I cut, and I've gotten a lot better at it since then, so I would say it takes a little bit of time and practice, as well as speed and a bit of strength. I've used it for apples and carrots and it's been great, it didn't work very well for tomatoes I must say. It's suuper easy to clean, I use a small brush when little bits of fruit get stuck in the tiny dents. I read some reviewers say that carrots stained theirs, but the orange from my carrots came off quickly with just warm water.
Slices well
March 27, 2015
Very good slicer. Made lovely zucchini slices for my lasagna. There are additional Hidden blades that pop up with control dial. My only issue is that when you slide whatever veggie over the rimmed area, I think that juices must seep into where the hidden blades are and I'm not sure how to clean it without emersing the whole thing under water rather than just wiping off the surface.
How To Keep From Getting Your Girlfriend Pregnant
January 18, 2015
There are lots of mandolines out there, and this one happens to be my favorite.I had a nearly $100 mandoline from The Restaurant Store/Webstaurant, and it was certainly heavy-duty, but it was terribly difficult to adjust to the thickness I wanted (it would help if I had three hands, and eyes that could see both top and bottom at once), and if I were cooking for 300, it'd be my choice, but the veggies were supposed to be in a little box, and when I was cutting french fries from "biggun"-size Russets, I couldn't use the box but instead had to risk amputating my hand. It was also too big to clean in the sink, and wouldn't fit *anyplace-. And yet, mandolines are so useful, I was mad as bleep when my marries son stole it.This mandoline is easy to clean, and easy to store (although since I use it every meal, thyat doesn't happen often.) You turn a knob on the side to adjust thickness, so you can see what you're doing, and a knob on the other side twists to make french fries in either traditional (they taste better) and skinny McDonalds size (they fry faster and and *still* tasty). The knife is sharp enough to cut ripe homegrown tomatoes (a test most mandolines fail miserably at, althoough they do OK on the hard things grocery stores sell all winter.) Produce is safely held with a "top hat" that works well for most veggies. (I've never seen a mandoline that had a safe way to slice carrots, a head of celery, or bell peppers, which means you really need to buy a pair of those slice-resistant gloves. Please. I neglected to put them on recently because I only needed a few swipes, and hey, I've been using these for 22 years. The chunk I cut from my thumb was still sore two seeks later!)But that story also illustrates why quick setup is critical. With my stainless steel restaurant model, I'd not have bothered.to use it. I rinse with hot water after each cutting job, which is a breeze, but was a two-fisted job with that stainless steel monster. And because I don't have to hunt for a box containing julienne cutters, which are dangerous to handle, I find myself making french fries ten times a week. (Coat them in oil and microwave them for an interesting french fry, or microwave them to cook the innards and then brown them in a skillet of hot grease. I use a "bacon drippings" can and cook with lard to avoid trans fats, so it's not like I'm wasting oil.)Some mandolines have a vee cutter, but this one has a straight-across cutter, meaning that there's no problem with having to exactly center your produce. You can adjust it thinner than you'd want for potato chips, or thick enough for most anyone's preference for onion rings. (The Prudhomme's Lost Cajun Kitchen in Columbia makes wonderful onion rings about an inch thick, and it won't cut *that*, but I cut an onion in half, then slice it, breading with a spicy mix, and frying the C-shaped sections, serving with a sauce that compares favorably, so guests tell me, with a "blooming onion".The super-slicer is plastic, and unlike that stainless steel monster, it won't last forever. An earlier model of the Super Slicer lasted about 5 years in really *really* heavy use before I started wishing for a new oner. Mind you, it still worked fine, but I was afraid that it could give up the ghost at any minute. But take a look at the price of mandolines! On a cost-per-year basis, this is still cheaper than that stainless steel model, and the blade was still incredibly sharp when I gave the other one away. (Please note, that I am NOT criticizing the Webstaurant folks. For their intended market, that's a great mandoline, the people there are wonderful, and when I lived in Lancaster, PA, I used to visit The Restaurant Store monthly to buy equipment and supplies; I wish I still could, but it's a 10-hour drive each-way. And I give my Prime membership a real workout, shopping naked in the middle of the night. I love Amazon, too.)So to sum things up, everyone needs a mandoline to eliminate drudgery, to produce uniform cuts of ingredients that cook evenly, and to produce attractive foods like salads, pizza, and apple pie. If you are cooking for more that 50 people, you probably want the stainless steel monster, and possibly more than one. If you are cooking for a family (mine is currently a family of one), you need the Super Slicer. And having tried a lot of the other mandolines out there, I can't think of a reason for them to exist (and that includes the one that America's Test Kitchen recommends.) But almost any mandoline is better than no mandoline, and DON'T FORGET THE GLOVES.Oh, and how to keep from getting your girlfriend pregnant? Don't screw, silly!

What an incredible deal this little slicer is. It comes with 2 blades, straight and wavy. I use this everyday and sometimes twice a day or more and it saves me a ton of time each day in the kitchen. I use it mostly for slicing potatoes to make fat free chips in the microwave on my pampered chef chip trays for snacks for my husbands lunch. It rinses clean quickly and easily. It includes the hand guard which floats over the raised edges to prevent damaging the blades or the guard, and which holds the food EXTREMELY securely, on metal prongs inside the hood, which has a button of the top for pressing the food down when you get to the end of the piece you are slicing. Also, it has a wheel in the middle that when turned presents blades for julienne cuts at wide and narrow widths. We don't use that much as it still seems a bit intimidating, but we may do more with that as time progresses. What drew me to this particular slicer were the price, and that there weren't a 'set' number of widths to choose. I was looking at models four to five times the price, but only had three settings. This one slices thin enough to make crunchy delicious chips, and thick enough for fried potatoes. Also, some of the others did not include hand guards or julienne blades. Overall, this little slicer has FAR exceeded expectations. I would buy this again and I would buy it for a gift to give a friend. While I thought that the instructions could have been more thorough, with careful examination it really is self explanatory. The buttons pull out from the sides for ease of turning them to make adjustments for example. If you take your time getting to know your new slicer I'm sure you'll figure everything out.**12-4-12. We use this everyday to slice potatoes. PLEASE use the guard! I don't know what hubby was thinking, I'm so very grateful we use this for VERY THIN slicing for potato chips daily, because it only took a thin slice of fingernail and fingertip off. But the fingernail will have a matching wavy pattern to the blade while it grows OUT from the quick for a few weeks.
LOVE IT!!!!!
August 23, 2012
I had seen infomercials for different slicers since the 80's, and finally decided to try one. After a little bit of research I settled on this model, and I couldn't be happier. It does everything in the infomercial, and saves you a ton of time in the kitchen. I've recently started making my own fruit & veggie chips, and this machine cuts through everything perfectly and evenly like butter EVERYTIME! 2 important things to remember whenever using this great product:1. Always and I mean ALWAYS use the safety holder. I decided to be hard headed by not using it the 1st time and almost chopped my finger off.2. Make sure to slice with an adequate amount of pressure and speed based on the food (Obviously there's a difference between cutting a banana vs. a potato). If you don't, the food can get stuck between the blade and the board.

Lives up to the description
August 18, 2016
This lives up to everything from the sellers description and more. I've used mine on garden tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers etc and on cheese. The best food so far is the apples I need sliced to use in my food dehydrator. This slicer make very sorry work of an otherwise slightly tedious job especially if you have a lot of things to slice for summer salads Etc

This thing is the BEST. I'm wearing Band-Aids on just about every finger right now from trying to use a knife to cut vegetables. No bueno! I'm in the process of moving, so my mandoline is packed in a box and which one is a mystery. I really miss it. Love the speed and simplicity of use.
Kitchen Elite mandoline slicer
January 21, 2016
This works great! Love how easy it is to slice potatoes! Works great for French fries also.I used most of the attachments so far. it is super sharp, so be careful when wiping off blade.Attachments are washable but I believe the base can only be wiped down.
Good value for the price!
October 17, 2015
It is a very good product that is heavy duty and works well. I like the different inserts for making julienne fries. The inserts make it more versatile than just a slicer. I had a more expensive slicer but this works as well for less cost and more options.

I haven't used any of the other settings or blades just the main one as I don't see any easy way to change it and haven't really
July 7, 2016
You get what you pay for. I bought this mainly to use with my dehydrator so my produce would be sliced evenly and dehydrate well to have everything done around the same time. I have been using it for over a year and the blade is starting to wear I know to push my things to the side and it seems to be a bit sharper there. Or as you are pushing it through the blade wiggle the food item a bit. I haven't used any of the other settings or blades just the main one as I don't see any easy way to change it and haven't really tried as it hasn't been necessary for me. It is nice that it adjusts to cut things. I have probably used it about 50 times in the past year. Probably wont buy one of these again, next I will find a better quality but for a first time just trying things out this is ok. For the $15 I did get good use out of it the last year.
Worth it
May 25, 2016
This this is awesome, but only gave it 4 stars because it said it came eith an attachment to make waffle fries but all it really does is add ridges in the cuts & not the actual spaces that make a waffle fry. Other than that, it works like a charm, saves sooo much time, & cuts the absolute perfect potato chips!
Nice Quality
June 29, 2015
The quality of the build is nice, the plastic is sturdy. I use this to cut up apples for my kids to make it more fun. I'll make apple slices or apple fries. With the apple fries you twist the vertical cutter up to the desired width, there are two widths to choose from. The height on the vertical cutters are not adjustable, so when you make a pass I pick up the apple and start again from the top, If you slide back and forth it will cut in both motions and leave a very sloppy uneven cut. If what you are cutting piles up underneath the mandolin it will start cutting uneven, you just move the pile or shift it around the bowl. The grooves on the face as well as the slits for the vertical cutter get dirty and makes it a bit hard to clean, this is why I knocked off a star. The thought of cleaning this will often deter me from using. If we are eating zucchini I will just use a knife rather than pull this out.
Will it become a favorite kitchen tool - probably not
January 2, 2015
I used the Mandoline the first time this week slicing onion for an Onion Tart I made for New Years Eve. Getting the correct thickness for the onions was a bit difficult, and as others have complained about - There are no Directions (other then basic assembly), so it was trial and error (a LOT of ERROR - resulting in STRINGY caramelized onions in the tart). Will I use it again ... yeah. Will it become a favorite kitchen tool - probably not.
a bit unstable, but works great
November 3, 2014
Prepping by dehydrating and vacuum sealing into Mason/Ball jars. My only worry is the SUPER SHARP blade could cut you if you get too close with a stray finger… .it wobbles a bit, so be careful. It does a great job cutting in different designs and the 20+ lbs. of veggies I have dried and stored has been greatly accelorated…… .good stuff…

Works
August 19, 2016
Works as described and seems to be of good quality. I have only used it once. Not giving it 5 stars because there is a lot of waste with a mandolin if you use the protective piece you place the food onto before slicing. Would NEVER use a mandolin without this protection, however, so the waste is just part of the deal. This is a problem with all mandolins, though. All in all this seems to live up to its description.
It is an excellent slicer that we are happy to have
March 23, 2016
It is an excellent slicer that we are happy to have. Our greatest disappointment is there is no grater attachment. I sent you an e mail right after receiving V Blade inquiring about a grater but received no answer. How can we get a grater? Thanks for asking, John Alexander
Skinny slice Mandoline
June 24, 2015
I was a little disappointed in this. It's made extremely well, but the slices are way too thin. Even the thickest one is too thin. I thought it would have a thicker slice. However, if you like thin slices this is great! It even has a grater board, plus it juliennes. (I know that's spelled wrong, sorry).Any how, this is a well made mandoline. Worth the price.
Works great, but VERY dangerous to clean - EXCEPTIONALLY SHARP
May 16, 2015
Works great, but VERY dangerous to clean - EXCEPTIONALLY SHARP, and to get a sponge in there, your fingers must get unacceptably close. Also - Even with the "large" slicer insert, slices are very thin; too much so for some recipes.Otherwise works great - Makes wonderful shoe-string fries, but nothing larger (Steak Fries would be wonderful).
very good
December 22, 2014
Works well, but does not cut as thick as I'd like. Cuts are either paper thin - you can read through, or about as thick as a U.S. Nickel. Blades are very sharp and cut food cleanly with out any jagged edges.
It's nice, easy to clean feels substantial
December 9, 2014
It's nice, easy to clean feels substantial, good design--but it only gets four stars because there's no semi-thick slicer blade. 2.5 mm is the thickest, and that's not quite enough for some applications.

it's pretty easy to use
August 5, 2017
Has lots of settings, it's pretty easy to use. My main problem is the blades and fall off and the waffle cutting blade, the reason I bought it the thing, is too shallow to make waffle fries with. Maybe waffle chips, but definitely not fries.
Doesn't make waffle fry cut as stated...
June 10, 2017
I ordered this thing ONLY for making waffle fries as it stated in it's description !...Well, although this product is pretty good at cutting other forms of styles of cuts it does not waffle cut, period!!! Just wave cut...So make sure you don't want to cut waffle fries and you won't be disappointed...
Buy a good knife
November 18, 2016
To be honest it takes up room and does little. This one of ours is up for grabs almost new. A good knife takes moments to find, use and clean. this thing not so much. Now if you were say a prep cook processing a bulk amount of veggies I could see the attraction.
Work the first time, not the second
September 20, 2015
I loved this when I first bought it and read through several of the reviews and thought I had found the good one. After the first use, the blades weren't strong enough to cut through sweet potato. I put it in the dishwasher and it didn't come clean. After about the fourth use, the safety slide broke apart and now I just have to be careful not to take off my fingers. When I buy a new one, it will not be this!
OK Slicer
February 6, 2015
I like the adjustable blades and it is very easy to change them. Slicer is a little hard to control when using and the food holder simply does not hold very well. This slicer works really well with softer foods but takes some effort to slice foods like hard cheeses -- even for my husband. We have used it several times with foods like peppers and tomatoes and it works really well with those. Overall, it's a pretty good slicer for the price.
Good mandoline with flawed guard shield.
December 22, 2014
Nicely made mandoline. Guard shield has a deep well underhandle area. It has prongs to hold onto the veggie. It can swallow up 1/2 of your zucchini(for example) that your trying to slice. I am very pleased otherwise. This is a pretty serious flaw however. Try to avoid pushing to far. It can be pushed in fur t her if you need to apply a firmer push in order to slice. Maybe someone else has better luck using the guard shield.

October 23, 2016
If you are looking for a waffle fry slicer, this isn't the one you want. Grooves are too small to give a waffle effect. We didn't try the other functions as we were mainly looking for a waffle slicer. Return was very easy on Amazon. This is the first thing we have ever had to return, and we were very pleased with the return service. We ended up purchasing the Swissmar Borner PowerLine Wave Waffle Cutter which was perfect for making waffle fries. Be sure and order the food safety holder so that you don't cut yourself because the waffle cutter is very sharp
Dull and slightly false advertisement...
October 20, 2016
I was excited for this to come since I had no dedicated slicer since I moved several months ago. I wasn't wowed by the first several cuts of my potato, but I wasn't unimpressed either. It's just a slicer. However, I went ahead and tried to slice a tomato, as it has in one of the pictures. I then became very disappointed at the results of the unclean slicing, and these were not thin slices. I had a fair amount of tomato in my hand I still wanted to slice!Although the julienne portion seemed decent, the straight slicer is what seemed to be dull. Then the waffle cutter... That's not a waffle cutter. Chips? Sure, but those fries would have to be very thin to even come out in a waffle effect. That's the part that sold this to me but only ended up making this product even more underwhelming.
Pretty cheap$$ and pretty cheap quality!
February 3, 2016
The product is okay for slicing only. Don't like that when your raise the "dicing blade" that it doesn't stay up. I can make about 3 passes and then it falls down. The "bonus" waffle blade is pretty much worthless unless you want translucent fries. The corrugations are about an 1/8 of an inch or less. Will be buying something else to do waffle cuts with.
Loved it..... at first....
July 12, 2015
We initially really liked it. It is easy to use and slices great. However, we have only had it for about 4 months and the roller that holds the julienne blades will not longer lock in place. Very disappointing !!!
Limited Use, Great for Zucchini but not Much Else
October 28, 2014
Very limited uses. I bought it for processing some zucchini squashes I had growing in my garden. Used it to chop it up fast, but not all that much faster than using the knife which I factored in the cleaning time.I tired it for cheese as a replacement for a grader and it didnt work, just gunked up after the first shave. Also tried for potatoes and only was able to effectively cut into small circles, couldnt do hash browns

Won't handle the tough jobs...
October 10, 2016
Would not slice sweet potatoes with the 7mm blade. Potatoes would hang up half way thru the blade and not completely cut thru the potato. I have a very old The Frugal Gourmet mandolin slicer that handled the potatoes with no problem. The frame got a crack in it and I needed to replace the Frugal Gourmet one. This one didn't do the job.
Defective? No instructions. Blades stick up PAST the top of the mandolin!
January 14, 2016
I'm sure the makers of this thought it was self-explanatory and that no instructions or directions were necessary, but I don't know why my blades stick up where my fingers go. Maybe mine are defective. I haven't used them yet because I don't know why the blades should stick up PAST the top of the mandolin!

did not like this mandolin I felt very unsafe cutting with it. it came to me used, the v blade was a little bent, and also underside where te rivets are were a little rusted. I sent back,
I do not like it.
July 23, 2015
Thickness of the cut was not accurate on the mandoline slicer that I received. The thickest was approximately 1 cm and the thinnest was paper thin. It advertised 2.5 cm and 1 cm. Not true for mine. I do not like it.
Only as good as the weakest link
July 8, 2015
Well, I was hoping this thing would really be amazing. Too bad a product is only as good as its weakest link. In this case the tines (spelling?) on the device that holds the object you're slicing. Most have broken off after only a handful of gentle uses. Too bad we're past the return period.
It's alright but very clunky and poorly designed

Very disappointed in the waffle blade attachment. That was my main purpose for choosing this item. False Advertising and Failed "Waffle" Fries
February 25, 2015
This slicer failed me in two different areas. One, the description said that it came with the "5 piece accessory kit" that lets it juice, grate, etc. This is not true at all; all it comes with is what you can see on the box (in the picture). Basically it has a straight blade and a "waffle" blade, then it has the pop up blades for julienne/french fries and has a thickness adjuster. It does not have a juicer, or anything to grate cheese, or anything else the description claims it to have. Two, I put the "waffle" blade in quotes because although it comes with a blade that will cut using wavy lines, I would not even remotely consider it a waffle blade. The grooves it cuts are so shallow that you would have to cut the fries so thin to even get the waffle effect that you'd probably end up with potato chips if you could even get the slices to stay in one piece. I will be returning my product ASAP and buying something new since this product lied in it's description and doesn't even have good enough waffle cutting (what I mainly wanted it for) to make up for it. This is truly a "get what you pay for" item.
