Great brace for post-surgery support
July 19, 2017
I bought this brace to use as support following ankle surgery. Four weeks post-surgery, I was moved to a boot but I wanted work on my strength and range of movement when at home and the boot was too restrictive. Although able to hobble around without the boot, I found that having a supportive wrap was much more helpful. I decided to order a brace because it seemed easier than continually wrapping and unwrapping my ankle. Based on the description and reviews, this on seemed to be a good fit for what I needed. The brace is sturdy and seems well-made. The brace fits well and the laces allow you to adjust how tight or loose the fit is. It provides me with the support I was looking for but still allows some flexibility in my ankle. Although almost as flexible, I found that I had less of a limp in my gait when wearing the brace compared to the wrap. The only con is that the material is very rough and uncomfortable against my skin and the eyelet seams run right along my surgery scars; however, adding a thin sock under the brace completely solved that problem. The photo on the box it comes in show it being worn with a sock so maybe that is the how it is designed to be worn. Plus the sock will help keep the brace cleaner, so I would probably wear one anyway.
Works great

Got this for my son after he messed up his ankle. Got an expensive one that his doctor recommended him to use playing ball but it didn't last long at all. This is the same style brace I used when I played ball and they lasted me 4 years so hoping to get a few years out of this one. Appears to be well made and my son said it works very well and gives him a lot of support while playing.
Best Ankle support around...
October 1, 2015
I have used McDavid Ankle Braces playing hoops 3x a week for over 15 years. These are the best I have found. If you have weak ankles or ever have turned your ankle landing on another players foot when getting a rebound these are for you. These are much stronger than the foam or Velcro type wraps, and I find them close to the support I used to get when my ankles were taped in high school. I have turned my ankles wearing these quite severely and without them it would have been two weeks before I could play. With these on I am ready in a day or two.I prefer the black color over the white as they look better longer. Usually last about 10-12 months being washed 3 times a week. I would not recommend a hot dryer as they have a vinyl component to them and the dryer temperatures will break the material down quicker, as well as melt the plastic ends on the laces. When you do put them in the washer or dryer be sure to tie and double knot the laces, otherwise the laces will get tangled in everything. No need to ask me how I know this! If you need them right after the wash be sure to put the dryer on a delicate cycle.I usually lay them out overnight and they are dry by the next day.Be sure to using the McDavid Sizing chart for proper fit. Yes the first few times you wear them the vinyl will be quite stiff, but you will not even know you are wearing them after 2 or 3 workouts.Amazon pricing is excellent and includes N/C shipping! One thing, I usually increase my sneaker size by a half size to allow for the room of the brace. Some guys I play with do, others use their regular sneaker size. If your sneakers are on the snug side now you may need to increase the size. I wear thicker cushion type socks when I wear these.Bottom line, if you need ankle support these work very well.
Yay!

I used this brace when I did Tough Mudder this year (10.5 mi course with 25 obstacles). My ankle is weak from previous injuries, and I was concerned about rolling it this time, especially since we're running in mud - literally. It worked out perfectly! It fit under my trail running shoes, and I was able to do the running/obstacles with no problem from the brace. And I don't think I could have rolled my ankle if I tried. After washing it was good as new.Definitely will be using this in the future for other athletic endeavors.
Quality Ankle Brace - McDavid Delivers Again!
April 2, 2014
For starters, we purchased the medium ankle brace first, and then the large ankle brace. The reason we purchased both was because we wanted one for each my wife and myself, but thought that the medium would fit me.My foot falls right between medium and large, so the medium was a little on the tight side. Especially with a swollen ankle/foot! The large size fit a LOT more comfortably. One big suggestion due to the above would be to anyone that falls right between medium/large to end up getting the larger size as it should suit your needs better. Its just a suggestion though! Don't kill the messenger (:Okay, onwards and forwards - to the meat and potatoes of the review.I've worn this thing literally dozens of times over the last 9 months or so, and its performed flawlessly. Its very comfortable, and I can fit it just fine in my shoes [K-Swiss, Etnies, DCs] and it fits a little tight in some Danner boots, but it is what it is.The shoe lace is plenty long, and what I do is after getting everything nice and tight before finally tying the laces, I wrap them once around on the top, and then tie 'em and voila, done. Its better than having loose lases roaming around your shoe and whatnot. For the price, its hard to beat it. Its a quality product as most [if not all] of McDavid's products are. Have only used a few [including knee braces] and they have all worked wonderfully. They do what they say they do, at a reasonable price. What's more to ask for? This ankle brace also helps prevent my foot from swelling [before taking it off and raising my ankle] when I am having certain issues, so there is a preventative aspect of it as well.We definitely recommend this for anyone needing an ankle brace. You will not be disappointed.

I hope the following chart helps determine your size. I could not find it on the Amazon website so I guessed what size I needed and was wrong. They did take the return and I re-ordered the right size off the chart below. The brace is a great product and look forward to getting a chance to start using it.X Small - Mens 6-7 or Womens 7-8Small - Mens 8-9 or Womens 9-10Medium - Mens 9-11 or Womens 10-12Large - Mens 11-13 or Womens 12-14X Large Mens - 14+ or Womens 15+

I got tendon injures and need the ankle support. This product comes with a clear illustrated instruction and very easy to use and adjust the tightness. It gives a good support and makes my ankle feel comfortable at the same time. I highly recommend the product.
Exceeded Expectations (Great Price Too)
November 11, 2016
I had my doubts about these, but I couldn't have been more wrong! These are tremendous. From the images, they looked bulky, but I am wearing them right now under my shoe without any discomfort. They are sturdy and the velcro straps allow you to adjust the tightness to your liking. As an added bonus, they are also much cheaper than the alternatives. In fact I bought a non-strap alternative for $15 and haven't liked it nearly as much.
Wonderful - wish I got this instead of the boot from the get go
March 3, 2016
Very happy with this. Was recommended by a foot specialist. Wish the walk-in doc had told me about it instead of the boot-torture-device that was overkill. Easy to put on an off, believe it or not you get used to doing it when you are sleepy. It does take a minute or two to get the laces because you want to loosen them completely when taking your foot out (rather than bending your ankle any more than you need to) but it's well worth it to have my mobility more secure while the sprain & a couple small fractures heal.Thank you to the previous reviewer who recommended ordering the smaller size if you are between and aren't sure. I agree 100%.Yes you can wear this with a sock under it and with regular shoes. Not with booties obviously, it's best if the shoe has a low rise. I have a pair of athletic shoes where the sides don't come up very high, they're black, and I can wear this over a pair of flared yoga pants and no one even knows.

I had an injury on my right ankle a few years ago. I tried very complex and expensive braces but they were bothersome and cumbersome. When I saw this ankle support I decided to try it. After a few days of wearing it my ankle pain was almost gone. Now I can stand for longperiods of time with no pain or discomfort. It is very easy to put on and the breathable material which it is made of stays cool.I am so happy with it I ordered another one to have.
Working out Perfect!
April 10, 2015
I recently sprained my ankle and after taking ibuprofen for a few days I thought it might be healing a bit quicker after the swelling went down. Well, it wasn't. It was then that I learned from my doctor and a number of friends that a support ankle wrap (like the athletes wear) would significantly reduce the pain and actually speed up the healing . . . and it it's working! I'm glad I got this particular product because the neoprene is very soft, flexible and comfortable. You want a supporting snug fit but not too tight that it cuts circulation. This is fully adjustable to comfort fit just about any size foot very nicely. They recommend you hand soak it in mild soap and not machine wash/dry. Neoprene air-drys naturally very quickly too.
It really works!
December 21, 2014
I had surgery on my ankle in June 2014. The doctor told me it takes up to 1 year to heal. I was given a heavy boot to wear that makes my back hurt. I wanted something light that would support my ankle so I would not have to wear the heavy boot I got from my doctor.I saw this brace, read a few reviews and ordered the brace. I have been wearing the brace daily since it arrived. It really works. My ankle is no longer swollen, I do not have to sleep with me leg elevated and my ankle no longer hurts.I read in some reviews that the brace made some customers' feet/ankle hurt. Mine hurt too when I first begin wearing the brace until I realized I had the brace adjusted too tight. Now I adjust it where it is comfortable and I wear it all day without any pain. I recommend the brace to anyone who has ankle pain.

Good product for daily use
August 31, 2017
Very good ankle support, I am using it every day. Well made. My only complaint is that the toe end is a little narrow for my wide feet and the end tends to pinch the sides of my foot by my toes. I am experimenting with using two or more shoe laces to be able to adjust different sections of the brace to better fit my foot and ankle.
Not bad but not easy to ambulate in
December 19, 2016
I ordered this and another brace for comparison. This product seemed well constructed with a decent fit (I'm a size 6.5-7 and ordered small, I believe). Too stiff, though, to actually start ambulating heel to toe once I was ready to get off crutches. The lacing is secure, but it would not allow me to lace tighter around my foot/ankle, and looser near the top of the brace (like I could with another brace I was using), so it was either too snug and pinching, or too loose. I opted to return the product and to use another ankle brace instead (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RKG0TSU/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_7?th=1)
Stable but too big for a women's 10.5 narrow foot.
June 29, 2016
I got the medium since I wear a 10.5 in women's but I have a narrow foot. It seems slightly big for me around the heel but I am able to tighten it down well. I feel confident on the court with it after recovering from a broken foot and sprained ankle. I would recommend it but I wonder if the small would have worked better for me.
Great stabilizer without adding bulk.
February 12, 2016
I sprained my ankle and my doctor recommended a brace that tied. I tried to get one locally, but a tie brace is hard to find in most brick and mortars. A tie brace that comes in small sizes is impossible.I've been relegated to a brace for 8 weeks and have been wearing this specific one for 6. Because of the lace up nature, it's a little hard to get one and off, so you don't have to re-lace the hole thing. That said it doesn't add a lot of bulk while still stabilizing the ankle. If you're torn between sizes, I recommend erring smaller. I have skinny ankles and wear a 7 1/2 womens; I went with a small, but wish I'd bought an x-small.
Great support for playing squash
October 6, 2015
Why I love them:I have had a few niggles with my ankle, all thanks to my love for playing squash. Movement is one of my strong suits, and if you've played squash then you know it takes its toll over time. You are never playing at 100% fitness, and have to manage small niggles every time you get on court. This brace allows me to do just that, and do quick lunges in the front corners without worrying about twisting or jarring my ankles. Some things to know:A fast-paced game like squash wears these things out pretty quick (read 6-8 months). It also wore out the insides of my shoe.I would advice that you wear a sock (at least an ankle length one) over the brace to minimize this wear -- cheaper to replace the socks than the shoes or the brace. These things are highly uncomfortable initially during the break-in period. They might even feel heavy initially. But bear with it the first few weeks and then you'll hardly notice them on your feet.I bought two of these and to ensure consistent support I have L and R written on the inside of this brace with a sharpie. I make sure that I do not mix up the one I wear on left foot with the one for right foot.Pros: Great support, the lacing system works better than any other brace type I've triedCons: Don't last very long with fast-paced sport. They even wore out the insides of my shoe (so wear a sock over them to minimize this).Verdict: I bought two of these last time (about 8 months back) and will be placing an order for another two very soon. They're great. :)
Best brace I could find
September 2, 2010
I have been playing basketball all my life and have chronically bad ankles from various injuries I have suffered over the years. I have been through many kinds of ankle braces in an effort to ward off new injuries, but these ones seem to give the best support for me. I've bought at least half a dozen pairs of these over the last 2-3 years. With ankles as damaged as mine, I'm bound to injure them even with braces on once in a while, and it has happened even while wearing these. However, I am sure they saved me from even worse injury. The price is much lower than some of the other brands like Aircast, etc. They do take some time to put on, but you get good at this quick. After playing in them 2-3 times a week for about 6 months, they get stretch and get 'soft' and are not as good a support as when they were new, so I buy several pairs a year. After a while the laces wear out from friction on the eyelets and may snap, but you can replace these fairly easily. All in all, a very good brace for the price, and I would recommend them.

Reduced pain significantly
June 27, 2016
I am a teacher, so I'm on my feet a lot, and the walk from the parking lot to my classroom building is long. I wore this brace for the first time today (summer school) and I have significantly less ankle and foot pain this evening because of this brace. Usually I want to cut my foot off at the end of the day, but I feel like I can keep my foot for now.I wear a woman's size 8.5 shoe. The brace fits my foot well, and I like how much I can adjust the brace for my foot. I doubt this brace would fit well for men with large feet. I doubt it is "one size fits all". While the neoprene is elastic, it is high quality, and it should retain its support well over titime. This is the best brace I have tried and I've needed one off and on for 2-3 years. My only frustration is that the brace doesn't fit well in sandles and some of my professional shoes, but many braces don't.
Too bulky to wear with my shoes
May 23, 2016
I would love to love this, but I have a few issues. I ordered this for my left ankle which always aches and seems to be weak as I often twist it. The product arrived quickly and I eagerly opened the package and put it right on. It felt great. After awhile though, my heel actually started feeling kind of numb where it poked out the very little heel hole. Almost like it was too tight. I loosened all the straps and it was a little better, but still kind of bothersome. I tolerated it because the ankle support felt great. The next day brought a 12 hour shift for work and I knew wearing this would be very beneficial. I put the brace on over my wonderful thin compression socks, went to slip on my Danskos and there was no way the shoe was going on. I need to wear those shoes for work or I suffer from severe back & hip pain. Off came the brace. So in conclusion, it gives good support but is too thick to wear with my shoes. I will wear it around the house and with flip flops. If you can fit it on and wear athletic shoes it would probably work out fine for you.

December 30, 2015
I bought this ankle support after a sprained my ankle playing softball. Originally I had purchased a flimsy wrapfrom the local Fred Meyer that didn't really do much - it was more like a thick sock than anything. This support is a bit different.Pros:- Provides great ankle support.- Fully adjustable. Should fit the most swollen of ankles.- Pretty comfortable for it isCons:- A bit bulky. This is not a low-profile wrap.- Caused a blister in the back of my foot after wearing this while exercising.- It became very smelly, very quickly. Supposed to hand-wash this, but I had to use the washing machine to get out the food odor.
Does the trick
November 16, 2015
Was a great help after rolling my ankle. It did feel a little weird in my tennis shoes but I was afraid to wear anything else with no back on it. I did wear it with slippers around the house and it felt fine. My only complaint (and this is nit-picky) is the front wrap it too long for me. I wear a women's 9.5 (US) and my feet are pretty narrow. Each time I would go to wrap the front flap across my foot (the one closest to your toes), I would hit the strap on the other side before it was tight enough. I ended up having to bend the velcro so the other strap could go over it or it wouldn't be tight enough. When something is made to be a universal fit or fit multiple foot sizes, it's not going to fit perfectly for everyone, and really this was a minor problem. My ankle is healed up pretty good and I plan to start jogging again this week, wearing the support around my ankle just in case.
excellent comfort & support, heel opening could be better reinforced
September 23, 2015
this is a comfortable support, and it really does offer noticeable support for the ankle and instep. It feels secure, I can wear it for extended periods and I do - sometimes first thing in the morning to before I go to bed. I don't wear it when I sleep because I want blood circulating then, but I could conceivably wear this 24/7, it's that comfortable.my one complaint is the cutout for the heel is stretching to the point of tearing and this happened within a week. after two weeks, it's definitely tearing. granted it's continual wear, but I think the stitching around could have been reinforced better. I have another, the old style typical beige compression bandage that slips over the foot - it's years old and when it gets continual use it has not unraveled or torn at the openings, so it seems to me it can be done.I will update how long this support garment lasts...so far a couple of weeks and it looks good - only the edges of the opening for the heel are showing tears all around. we shall see.
For my sprained ankle, helpful, but not perfect.
March 28, 2014
Since I was 6 years old, I've been spraining my ankles at least every couple of years. Usually I just keep it elevated and iced and wait for the pain to subside, which takes a week or so. I never thought about a brace for support while I hobble around until a fellow ankle-spraining friend suggested it to me. I bought this one because of the good reviews and because it's stretchy. It really helps keep my ankle stable, which alleviates some of the pain as I limp around like a gimp. :) It's soft and well made, and I'm really glad I bought it. I wish it came in a couple different sizes though. I wear a women's U.S. 9.5 wide, and that's fine, but because it's sprained badly, it swelled up to the size of a nerf football. It fits, but it's stretched to capacity and a bit tight. I understand this product may be intended for daily or athletic use and not for sprains, but still, one with longer straps would be wonderful. Thanks for the great product!

Didn't work for me, but seems well made
August 2, 2015
This didn't work for me, but I don't think it is a necessarily bad product. I broke my ankle and was transitioning out of the boot. I wanted some extra support for my ankle, but this did not provide support, just pressure. It might work better for someone with soft tissue damage or someone who has ankle instability.
Order a size larger if you have wide feet.
July 8, 2015
Materials and construction seemed good, but I couldn't tell how well it would work as it was too small. Ordered based on the sizing guidelines but should have ordered one size larger.
Good Brace just a bit bulky
April 27, 2015
Adds a bit more bulk than she expected but she's getting used to it. Her shoes of course needed to be adjusted to even get them on, but as you can see there is a lot to this brace. It's for sure sturdy and well made. She would have liked it a bit thinner but not sure you'd get the support you need doing that.
Great for already injured ankle., not so much to prevent injuries
January 12, 2015
This is a great product if all you wear is low tennis shoes that are able to have this bulky brace in them and if you don't have to do a whole lot of movement. It provides really good support and minimizes twisting for an already injured ankle. If you are looking something just for support to prevent an injury this is too much. I mainly got it to wear in some steel toe boots for work with an already injured ankle so I wanted some good support, but there is no chance of my foot getting into the boot with it on. It probably also won't fit well in most of my other shoes either. I was able to get it in comfortable with some low quarter nike free tennis shoes even though it made the shoe look really wide. I am only taking one star for that. The other star is because one of the eyelets for the shoelace has a piece that is bent perfectly so that i can't bend it back and is shredding the shoelace so I don't know how long it will last now. I am sure this isn't a typical problem though as the many other eyelets are fine.
I needed more support.
July 2, 2013
If you are looking for alittle support then this is the brace for you. It is lightweight. But you also might need help lacing it tight enough to provide the needed control. The another brand with speed lacers works better for me. It provides more support and is easly adjusted without taking your shoe off.

One small flaw
September 3, 2016
The material and basic design for this product is excellent with one exception. I had to enlarge the hole for the heel because it was cutting into my heel and causing a great deal of pain. Fortunately, the fabric is such that this can be done with scissors and there is no fraying to be dealt with. After enlarging the hole, it worked great and is very comfortable.

August 31, 2016
I bought this to replace a simple wrap brace I had, but I found this one to be far too scratchy and strangely, not as supportive as my cheaper brace. However, the style is perfect for a multitude of footwear styles (including birkenstocks!) and it did stay in place well. It was also quite breathable so it didn't feel suffocating and I could wear all day if needed.
Pretty good for the most part
January 3, 2016
When my ankles were still very injured and swollen, these were fine. But as the swelling went down, they were too big. I wear a womans size 6 narrow. The one thing that made these hard to wear for any length of time, was the heel. After about an hour, my heel was swollen and I'd have to peel the support over the it.
Not up to the job in my case
June 28, 2014
These seem to be adequately made if a bit flimsy, but they do not give much support, nor do they rise high enough for a serious ankle or tendon injury on a tall person. I'm recovering from ruptured Achilles's tendons (the result of taking the antibiotic Cipro) and with my active lifestyle I need really strong support that will fit inside my riding, work and combat boots when I can't use my orthopedic boots.I have found them useful for holding my Flector patches in place on my ankles at night.
Comfortable but not very supportive and material is already falling apart
January 9, 2013
This is a case of you get what you pay for. For the price this is a decently designed product that provides MILD support. It is certainly more comfortable to wear than others I have tried but that is only because the support is weak and doesn't put much pressure on your ankle (good or bad for you...you must be the judge.) I like wearing it for everyday use, just going to work and walking moderately on my previously broken ankle (Medial Malleous break) as it is comfortable for that kind of use. Any more rigorous activity and I am reaching for a more supportive (and yes, expensive) brace. Because this is just lightweight neoprene don't expect it to last for years and years. Mine is only weeks old and the hole the heel fits through is already starting to unravel and stretch out. I suppose at this price it isn't the end of the world to just order another when this one gives out.

September 21, 2017
I bought this as a sturdier brace for my weak ankle. I am a size 9 women's and bought a M size brace. The brace is very uncomfortable on the underneath and side of the foot at both openings. I started to develop a blister on the L side of my foot due to how it was rubbing on my foot. I wore this brace for four 10 hour days and I have had enough. It's not worth being that uncomfortable to have a stiff brace. If you have an active job and need to wear this brace for an extended amount of hours, I would avoid it.
Item not returnable
July 27, 2017
After I received this item, I found that it did not extend far enough down my foot. I tried to return, but Amazon website said that this item is not returnable. I would not have bought this if I had known that I couldn't return if it didn't fit.It seems to be well made.

Seemed like nice product overall. My Dr. recommended them for me. I just have too small of a foot. Adult 5-6 and these gave me sores, with socks of course. Right at the ankle bone they creased. Just not for me.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UW1JMG/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0
Way Too Rigid for Exercise
August 26, 2016
Well, it is some solid ankle brace. It does deliver nice support and protection. But in my opinion, the material is way too rigid and firm.I suffered ankle injury before so I wear ankle brace during basketball games just to avoid new injuries. An ideal ankle brace for injury-prevention during exercise should have solid and firm support around the ankle while remains as flexible as possible. But this ankle brace is so rigid and firm that I can't even bend my foot in it. In some of the previous reviews people claims they play basketball or soccer, or work out in it; I totally don't understand how they managed to do it. I wonder if it requires breaking time like a new pair of shoes.I suppose it's good for those who are recovering from recent injury, and would like their ankle to remain stable at all time; however, if you are looking for something to prevent new injury during exercise, I do not recommend this.
Disappointed
March 31, 2016
I was so hopeful about this one, as it was recommended by my PT. The heel cutout was extremely uncomfortable, the compression happens on the foot but not at all at/above the ankle, and it digs into the top of my foot. All around uncomfortable. I'm recovering from a sprain from roller derby, and I'll say that the one plus is that it fits in my skate.
There must be better ankle braces out there!
October 6, 2015
First ankle brace I've purchased, so not an expert, but I do know this brace is extremely uncomfortable. It's not padded on the inside, so must be worn over a sock, but even a sock isn't enough to ensure a comfortable fit. I've had to wrap Ace bandages on top of my sock prior to wearing this brace. Also, this brace will not fit into a dress shoe or boots. Must wear a loose fitting sandal or canvas shoe. Finally, this brace is very hard to remove! I've needed my wife or sometimes a colleague to help remove it. There must be a better ankle brace out there!

January 4, 2017
Its okay. Fits well and can make it tighter if you want. However, no matter how tight I go it does not give my ankle the support I need. As a coach I would not recommend this to my players and rather have them tape up their ankles to get better support. If you need to wear a brace all day though it may help some but I would rather go with a boot or tougher brace even if it may be a little more bulky.
Not for everyone.
August 11, 2016
This item seems to be for a "light" application. The straps that complete the figure 8 don't really give the ankle much support at all. The hole where the heel goes is not for everybody. I personally have an issues with it & stop several times a day to give my foot a rest.I would not buy this again.
No Support?

To be honest when I ordered this I was expecting a product that offered support but after wearing this for a few hours today I took it off as I really couldn't feel any support in it at all? I have, in the past, worn compression socks that offer more support than this to be honest.I tried it multiple ways and the only way any support was by making it so tight the circulation was affected in my foot. The materials used to contruct it are soft and supple and did not irritate my skin, however there is no level of stiffness at all hence the lack of support I found.Just my personal experience :)
Made my ankle injury worse
August 4, 2015
I decided to give this wrap a try after a minor injury to my ankle. The price was great and the product is very well made.My complaint is the way the wrap crosses in the front caused more pressure on the area of my ankle that was injured. After just one day of wearing this, my pain was 10 times worse and I could barely walk. I immediately stopped using it, got a different brace from my doctor, and felt relief the next day.
One Size fits all?

I keep forgetting that there is no such thing as one size fits all. At least, it doesn't work for me. Ankle broken too many times, so it tends to be swollen quite often. It's just too small and uncomfortable.

received on a timely manner. packaged well and when I used put it on I discovered that it was bulky and my shoes were tight it would have been nice if this was mention when I saw ad. after I had them on for about 30 mins my feet began to ache worst had to take off to get relief. retried later the next day again did not feel the support I needed . went to dr and he gave me a better support that works much better. should have done this first.

Not Comfortable at all...
June 25, 2017
Too rigid and too short down the foot, too large around ankle and lower calf. I would like to return it but waited too long to try it before making a decision about this product.
Sitting in the closet and a waste of money

My daughter tried wearing these. They were bulky and she needed bigger shoes to fit. I was going to return but it was a little over the 30 day return policy. Sitting in the closet and a waste of money.

Hurt my heel, had a blister after first use!
Poor design protects your ankles but rips away layers of skin (and destroys socks)
September 15, 2014
I have had these for a year now and am finally giving up and throwing them away. From the beginning they have ripped through the skin on my heal and top of my foot every time I have worn them. I started out wearing them over a pair of socks but after only 60 minutes of use (playing soccer) they had torn through a brand new pair of socks and then my feet. Then I tried wearing them over athletic tape with the same result. I finally thought duct tape would be strong enough to protect my feet but they still managed to rip through the tape and then several layers of skin on both feet during a soccer game. The design just seems to be poorly thought out with significant seems and stitching on the inside.
Very poorly made. Broke down and fell apart

I bought the exact same ankle braces as these in 1997 and used them regularly for 10+ years. Finally they broke down and I had to get some replacements. I bought them and within 1 year the bottom tore at the seam on one of the braces and the edging tore away from the heel section on the other one. The design is the same but I think McDavid has changed they material they are using to cheaper product or are making them differently. I abused the first set I had playing every week. The new set performed for a year and then broke down. I am in my late 30s now so I don't play nearly as fast or as hard as I did 15 years ago yet they couldn't handle it. I wouldn't recommend them anymore.

I wanted it to work. . .

Didn't work for me at all. Tried to find a way to contact the seller directly, but failed at it. I was hoping to return it. The Velcro didn't stay put.
Not possible to sleep wearing this brace.
October 19, 2016
This brace is too uncomfortable to wear. I was in a lot of pain before wearing this brace and it seemed to make it worse. I could not get comfortable no matter how I tried to lay. I would not recommend this type of brace. Also since my leg is swollen it is hard to fasten even after adjusting the straps. And straps are hard to adjust.
This is not one size fits all. I've purchased ...

This is not one size fits all. I've purchased several other products from this brand and I've never had any problems with sizing. Fits perfectly on my teenage daughter so I kept it for her.
Made my ankle hurt more
March 10, 2014
I don't know what I expected to happen but I was extremely underwhelmed with this product. After a few hours of wear, my ankle hurt much worse than it did without the brace. The material is very flexible but it rubbed my bare foot on the top part so I had to wear socks which bulked it up quite a bit.The best part is that I can't return it because I used it. Money down the drain.
