Before you buy this though make sure your visor will sit perfectly (close atleast) horizontal so you detect outwords not the ground as many visors spring back when horizontal. Would recommend Raise your stealth... July 12, 2010 This is a simple device. It places your detector on your visor. This does two things:1. For X, K, and Ka band, should extend the range of your detector (while unfortunately affecting Laser detection)2. Reducing the visibility of your detector...While laser radar is on the increase, I have found my detector still detects laser in time to matter, even when visor-mounted. I have up to 2 mile detection range with my BEL Driver STi mounted on my visor - pretty incredible range. Your Mileage May Vary.The other day I was in Virginia (Radar Detectors Illegal) and I forgot to remove my detector from the windshield mount I use in my other vehicle and *BAM* I was stopped for having a detector. How could they miss it? It was smack in the middle of my windshield... I was fortunate that it was not connected to power and the officer gave me a warning with a reminder that the power source cannot be within reach.This prompted me to get a second clip so I can mount the detector on the visor in my second vehicle and avoid even the appearance of being a scofflaw in those places where an easily seen detector might trigger unwanted interest. | 62% NOT FOR EVERYONE March 20, 2017 First off, I'm leaving 5 stars because the quality of the pad. Like others have mentioned, it grips very well and does the job. I say "Not for everyone" because if your car is like mine this will not be good for a radar detector. I have an LED hud in the center dash with a hood that goes over it. It slants slightly down going towards the front of the car. When mounting the radar detector, it points slightly down toward the windshield wiper and doesn't clear the rear either. So, if your dash is similar to mine, get a mirror mount. Your radar detector needs to point straight forward and not be impeded by wipers or anything else and needs to be able to clear the rear, which is why I suggested the mirror mount. Again, this does not detract from the quality of the mount itself and I will use this for something else such as to hold a phone or whatever else. This is just a warning for others like me. Works great to have your radar detector mounted on the dashboard, out of view, close and easy to adjust when necessary. And, you can remove it from view when parked, or leaving the car in the hot sun to avoid "frying" your detector (I lost one that way). An amazing pad, much more reliable than suction cups on the window, plus the detector is closer to me so I can read the screen. It's easy to wipe down if needed without impacting the level ... May 27, 2016 Sticks to the dash of my FJ cruiser very well. I use it for a radar detector. The longer it sits, the more secure it gets. I have not had any issues with it or the radar detector sliding around. Interestingly, it does not seem to attract dust or small particles as some other pads do. It's easy to wipe down if needed without impacting the level of grip. I'll probably buy another one. It is FANTASTIC! May 13, 2016 Been thinking of getting this for my radar detector for months. After the LAST time of the current suction cups falling off while driving I finally purchased this item. It is FANTASTIC! March 17, 2015 this little matt is amazing . in south florida i go thru suction cups every 2 yrs and have to pull the detector off for the sun screen so i figured i would try this instead . i didn't think it would work to well , my challenger has a bumpy dash with the designs in the plastic that i drive hard at times, taking turns hard etc having a little fun in it :) and also my escort x50 is very heavy for a radar detector . it has not moved once sitting on this pad , and i thought for sure this thing would go flying thru the side window and also i don't have to move it putting my sunscreen up , i love it . great product !! Four Star Reviews: | 15% So there is no falling off or anything weird like that. Its just hard as heck to get ... September 15, 2015 I got this and have to say it doesn't stretch very well. I have a 20013 Chevy Corvette and a 2006 Chevy Trail Brazer and both the visors has a mirror on it. Both visors are thick and I had to REALLY muscle this thing on there. I might look into a rear view mirror mount instead. Once this is on my visor its on there until I take it off. So there is no falling off or anything weird like that. Its just hard as heck to get it where it should be. Great product May 7, 2015 Just received the product today. Fits snug and holds my solo 3 great. Only complaint would be that you have to have the visor hang down about 2 inches so the radar detector has a good view of the front and back of the vehicle. Holds very, very well January 23, 2014 If ever there was a product guilty of being too good, this would be it. The clip mounts perfectly into my S2 Solo radar detector. The clip is very tight. Very tight. It takes a little effort to get on the sun visor, but once it's on, it will not move. One thing I was not expecting, and this could be isolated to my make of car, was that when I put the clip on my visor, it permanently made a dent in the visor. It's probably not noticeable to anyone but me; alas, I know it's there. It doesn't affect the performance of the clip, it just bothers me that it's there. Exactly as described May 6, 2012 There isn't really much to say about a formed piece of metal, but I ordered this to replace a lost clip for my garage door opener and it works perfect. I used some epoxy to glue it to my garage door opener and it has stayed in place for many months already. It has a nice tight grip on my visor and has never fallen off. Also, purchased the hardwire kit, which is necessary to reach the Detector mounted on the visor. You will need an "Add a Circuit" to put into you fuse block if don't want to use the the 3M connector supplied with the wire kit, which cuts into your fuse box wired circuit. Amazon sells that item too.Using all three items makes your detector much harder to see from outside the vehicle. This is important in states such as NY, VA and TX, where they will ticket you for using the radar detector. As the STI is a stealth detector, I feel it's the only one to buy if you travel to those states. I go to all three of them several times a year.The products work well for their intended use. I picked it up as a cheap add-on for my Beltronics Pro200 radar detector. I didn't have a whole lot of hope for performance on such a low value item, but I have been blown away by how well it works. It's a great fit for the detector and it has never moved at all in my first two months of use. I do worry about it melting or overheating and becoming a sticky mess on my dash, so I keep a newspaper in the car to cover it on the days it is parked in direct sunlight. Be aware that your dashboard will have to be flat, any incline or bump will obviously have an impact on its usefulness.Being somewhat sticky, it will attract dust/lint if it comes into contact with such material. It's handy for those times I might need to pluck the detector off my dash in a hurry or to get it out of sight when I park in an area where the detector might present a reason for a break-in. I have found this type of gummy material holds well but will deteriorate if exposed to the heat and sunlight encountered in south Texas. June 21, 2015 This did not work well for my Escort 9500i. It doesn't allow any adjustment of the angle, so it was point down too far. AND you couldn't reach any of the buttons on the unit. Would have returned it, but not worth the hassle of shipping costs. So, really visualize your escort unit and visor setup to determine how this will work in your application. Overpriced, but works exactly as intended. June 8, 2015 Suction cups wear out and weaken in the summer heat. This is the next best thing. Also a necessary option if you're hard-wiring your detector as I was.It gets the job done, but it's not worth the price. Alright..... It does a good job of holding my radar detector, but it also leaves behind a "film" of sorts on the dash and the radar detector. I'm in Texas so it gets really hot inside the vehicle and I leave it on the dash but without the radar detector. While I'm using it it does hold the radar detector securely even though it can't fully hold the detector flat due to my dash not being flat. Stickyless August 25, 2015 This was MAGIC in my Corolla. It held my radar detector as if I had super glued it to the dash. NO JOKE. But in my truck, I have the same dash (texture / curves/ etc) as my Corolla, BUT - it has somewhat of a powdery type coating. I tried rubbing alcohol, and cleaning the powdery type coating - but no-dice. Now I have this majorly sticky gel pad that sticks to the radar detector like glue, but, the pad won't even sit on the dash of my truck. It just slides right off. I guess it depends on your dash type. Both of my vehicles are modern Toyotas. I don't get it. I was not impressed. Perhaps my detector is too heavy.... May 25, 2015 This pad is sticky and adheres to the dash of your car, until it gets dusty. The other issue is on very hot days, it adheres to the detector and comes off each time you remove your detector. On cold days, the detector will not adhere at all. I'd look elsewhere for a product. Not for detectors with GPS September 17, 2015 Might be OK for some Escort detectors, but not mine. The fit OK and it did lock in place. It was tough to get on my thick visor. The radar detector did NOT pick up GPS located under the visor. I wouldn't get this again January 1, 2013 Very stiff spring. It pops free of the radar detector easily, which can be good and bad, mostly bad, because it pops out when you don't want it to. Once it is attached to the detector, it's a two-handed wrestling match to get it attached to the visor. Didn't work for me, check you visor before ordering. December 6, 2009 The good thing about this mount is it's not flimsy cheap metal thus it's not very easy to bend. Unfortunately the sun visor on my car was so thick forcing this over it would have damaged the visor or at least left permanent markings on the visor upon removal. I ran into this same circumstance when mounting my garage door opener but was able to bend it to conform.The second thing I did not think about was the angle of the sun visor when not in use. Both driver and passenger shade visors in my car are angled upwards towards the headliner when not in use and will not "stay" level, they simply snap back up when positioned level. For best performance of the radar / laser detector it's recommended the unit remain level and not at an angle.And finally weight. If your visors are lightweight and move easily or not attached correctly the weight of the detector may cause the visor to swing down unexpectedly. Not a good thing while driving down the road.So that said this product may work for you if you have that glass slipper of a perfect shade visor on your vehicle. | 6% Didn't live up to expectations. July 13, 2017 thought it would be a high quality rubber pad, but it's a flimsy thin pad that would only be appropriate for a very flat dashboard with a driver who never takes sharp turns. Poor Grade for Green or Longevity April 18, 2017 This product does a good job at supplying stablility of whatever on your dashboard. However, the material breaks down into a sticky, liquid mess after being in the sun for any length of time. I live in NY , by the Canadian border, so I am not even talking about excessive sunlight or heat. I could only imagine the mess if I lived in FL.anyhow, it will last a about 2 weeks in the sunlight and you will need to throw out and replace. Not a good ecologically sound choice. Radar Detector Magic Mounting Pad October 18, 2016 I need to state right away that when it comes to gripping things and staying in place, it works awesome. The problem I had is that it can't be left on the dash in the summer. You have to install and remove it every time or it will melt into, and leave a permanent shape in your dash. The grip and holding abilities are great. Not recommended... need another solution October 19, 2015 with all the dust that is in the car, I can't imagine this working a long time. I wanted to place this on the dash near me and with the cord needing to stretch a bit.. the radar detector wouldn't stay. Plus I needed something that would get alot of wear due to the frequency of radar detector being moved back and forth. The problem with this is that it doesn't fit on my car's visors because they are too fat. This doesn't even fit on my visor let alone with a detector attached as well.
