Five Star Reviews: | 64% excellent teapot September 17, 2017 excellent teapot with small good quality infuser,i like the size of this teapot and the excellent idea of it,s infuser.i recommend when compared to others teapot. Very Functional and Stylish January 14, 2017 This little brew pot (you don't put it on the stove, you only pour in boiling water) is the second one of these I've had. The first gave me great service for the past 6 or 7 years, but recently I disassembled it completely for a thorough cleaning, and accidentally dropped the small nut that holds the infuser to the shaft down the sink drain! I've loved this pot so much, I had to order another! Normally you don't need to disassemble to clean, and I probably will not do that again! Oh, well...I've saved the pieces in case anything else should break or get lost, but I doubt that will happen. attractive tea maker;infuser can be immersed or pulled up as needed December 3, 2016 This is a great Tea Infuser. The infuser sealed the tea tight, so that bits of the loose tea did not leak out.The infuser has handle on top so that it can be fully immersed into the water, or pulled up out of the way when desired tea strength is reached. Happy Tea Lovers June 22, 2016 I bought this little tea maker as a present for my boyfriend. He loved the style of it and the fact that the glass comes a part from the metal if needed- though not easy at times because the heat of the water makes it expand. Now, we just leave it all in tact for washing as well. The metal middle which holds the leaves is a smooth metal. It twists off easy and I LOVE the functionality of it- being able to raise the leaves when they have steeped is such a great thing! Overall I kind of just wish it was a bit bigger- maybe hold a couple more cups because we sure drink a lot of tea! Other than that- I love it. Great little tea pot. February 9, 2016 Ignore the reviews about it being misleading about the size. This is exactly what they advertise and seems to be a nice little tea pot. The basket seemed a little tight and hard to get off but as it is used more I will probably appreciate this since it will loosen up some. Could it have been made out of some higher quality parts? Yes, but you are only paying $20 (at the time of this review) so you can't expect very high end materials. With that said, I don't see this falling apart any time soon unless it is abused or misused. I look forward to making many pots of tea with it and it draws attention with the way it looks. Great personal sized tea pot and steeper. November 29, 2015 Just bought a new one to replace my old one. I've had one for several years now and using it frequently. It's small enough for a couple of cups for one person. It's perfect sized to sit on my night stand and have a couple of cups of hot tea when sick. You can put lose leaf tea in the steeper or it pull up and folds neatly out of the way and a tea bag can go in. I like that the handle is plastic and less likely to break. The glass is like that of a coffee pot and break resistant, but not husband proof as we recently found out ;). Also you do have to pour the water in already hot as you can not heat this on the stove. | 45% for tea and coffee September 1, 2017 Works great, I use it to make tea and coffee. I have had it awhile now and it is holding up great. It is also pretty easy to clean. I would recommend this to anyone that loves tea. There is no point in buying the expensive Teavana tea maker when you can just buy these for a few dollars. Useful for loose tea. October 7, 2016 Now I can use that loose tea that comes in so many flavors. This cuts down on cabinet space because you do not need to store all of those boxes of tea bags.... Now I can buy a canister of tea which takes up much less space. GREAT PRODUCT!!! Highly recommend June 25, 2016 Shipping was fast!! I have to say seeing the baetea and flat tummy tea I was questioning if the stuff actually works. But it does and the taste is something to get use to but it's not to bad. I have been drinking the tea for 4 days now and I workout 3 days a week I must say that it gives me energy and it's helping me lose the weight in my mid section. I am very very happy with this product I have been trying to flatten my tummy for a year now and I wanted to try something different, I am glad I choose baetea and I will continue to use it!!! I really recommend this tea and don't worry it doesn't make you go to the bathroom like crazy like some other teas do lol. Very nice actually November 22, 2015 I don't really know why so many people are complaining...Mine came in a nice package, the metal toggle is pretty strong, and the metal pin is well, what it is supposed to be and is much thicker than some I have owned. It's more sturdy than the one you will pay 5.99 for at the grocery store that is for sure.I have a few versions of tea infusers and strainers, I don't use any of them in a mug or cup that I drink out of. I always use a 3 cup ceramic pot for shorter sessions and a full pot for long days at the drafting table. I also do not leave these stewing in the tea after the appropriate time has passed. When I clean them, which is right after use, I dry it and I never toss them in a dishwasher. I bought this one just to have for my thick bark like teas. I never use mesh for fine teas that most people are used to in teabags, I just use a reusable baggy or a large loose leaf paper bag that hooks onto a funnel (best lazy loader ever XD)Yes it is made in China but not everything from China is crap, there are legit manufacturers there >.> Sometimes you play roulette, sometimes you get a good deal. I don't expect an add-on to be something mega awesome fabulous that my grandchildren would use. :P Lasts for years! July 8, 2015 This tea ball is awesome for brewing loose tea. I actually bought my first tea ball by this company three years ago and only had to buy a new one very recently because my daily use of it eventually loosened the clamp. For less than $5, I'd say lasting three years is pretty good! The reason I came back to this tea ball rather than just purchasing one at the grocery store is the metal mesh. No matter what the size of your tea leaves, you can steep your tea without any fear of small pieces of your leaves escaping into your tea. Your tea will come out tasting just the way it should: pure and delicious! The hook at the end of the chain is really nifty as well, as its flexibility allows you to hook it onto the edge of any mug without you needing to worry about having to rescue your tea ball with a spoon. It'll stay perfectly in place until it's steeped long enough and then you're ready to go.This product is great for the price. If you're looking for a tea ball, I'd definitely go with this one. works great, but avoid the 3rd party sellers November 14, 2014 This product is getting a lot of negative reviews, but I wonder if everyone is reviewing the exact same product. I bought mine directly from Amazon for $2.79, not one of the 3rd party China vendors that sell these for $1. The product arrived in a Prepworks-labeled plastic blister-pack. I have used it numerous times over the past month and it still looks great, with no stains or rust.I also bought a similar looking $1 product from a 3rd party seller. It looks somewhat similar, but the construction quality is noticeably worse. The clasp doesn't line up as well or grip as well. The mesh is wider, so you cannot use it with finely ground teas. This one rusted after I first washed it, before using it for any tea. |
Four Star Reviews: | 13% Really lovely! LOVE THE CLEAR! October 5, 2016 I had received one from my sister four years ago and adored, unfortunately VERY saddened it cracked when adding boiling water.AS all tea addicts know, the water must be a rapid boil.WAS thrilled to see them return, and bought two, one for a friend! Cute little teapot July 12, 2016 I love this little tea pot. It does a great job at holding a little over two standard coffee much sizes. It looks really elegant on the counter. It steeps well and cleans easily. It's a very good product all in all July 8, 2016 It's a very good product all in all, but it doesn't filter perfectly. As long as you don't mind a little bit of sediment, this is a solid product. Not quite perfect - but close February 23, 2016 This functions as expected, however I have two minor complaints. 1) the infuser basket was very difficult to remove so I could put tea in it. The instructions do not clearly show how to open it. I could not tell if it was a pop off or a screw off. I finally got it open (it was way too tight). Then, after using it a few times it is sometimes difficult to keep closed so it does not come open. Overall, however, great concept and I am glad I bought it. In fact, after my co-workers saw it, they ordered four of them. (can I get commission? :-)) Buy it, you may have better luck than I did. Right size for two January 5, 2016 I use this everyday. Just the right size for my wife (1 cup) and I (2 cups). The pouring could be a little better and when pouring, the handle sometimes falls, letting the basket drop back into the tea. It should lock a bit more securely. Still, this is the pot I choose to use everyday, when it's just us two. | 16% Well made April 12, 2017 This is a nice tea or coffee ball but I personally think it is much too big unless you are putting it into a POT of tea. I love a particular brand of loose leaf tea April 22, 2016 For a $1 product, it does the job. I love a particular brand of loose leaf tea....well, actually, I like the jasmine green tea that summit makes, so it's a lot more specific than that. But anyway, I got this because it was cheap and I needed something to seep the tea in and I didn't have a lot of money to throw around (and the tea's kind of expensive). So I got this. And in the beginning, I think it worked absolutely perfectly. After a few months, some larger pieces started escaping, but I actually don't mind that. The overwhelming majority of the tea stays put and it actually has been working better, ironically, than the $10 tea strainer thing that my sister got me for Christmas...so yeah... I am giving it 3 stars because it is what it is but I have added an extra star because the seller has proven to me to be a compa December 16, 2015 I am giving it 3 stars because it is what it is but I have added an extra star because the seller has proven to me to be a company that values their customer service. It is what it is, it's a mesh tea ball!! Most tea balls are over priced to begin with. This one is reasonably priced for what you get. I am giving it 3 stars because it is what it is but I have added an extra star because the seller has proven to me to be a company behind their word and you can mark me now as a satisfied customer....extra word to the buyer.... look up the word mesh so that you fully understand the product... I have read some comments where the buyer was disappointed due to the product.... there is no hidden agenda of this product description ... it's mesh and the description or definition of mesh is as follows: "mesh is a material made of a network of wire or thread". if you understand this definition then you will fully realize what you are ordering. Bought for aromatherapy infusions July 14, 2015 Received this a day or so ago. It shipped from China or Hong Kong. Shipping took awhile, which was fine since they were so cheap. The basket was wrapped very nicely, was alittle dented on both sides; I figured from being shipped in a bag. There is no reason the basket will not go back to the regular shape. I have not used it yet. Bought it for my aromatherapy infusions, smaller infusions. The basket looks great, the dents are no big deal to me. I am happy with this purchase and do not see why anyone else would feel otherwise. This works pretty well. I would have given it 5 stars ... February 27, 2015 I bought this along with a loose tea sampler for a co-worker. This works pretty well. I would have given it 5 stars but occasionally very tiny pieces of tea or herbs will weasel their way out of the ball. For this reason I cannot give it a full 5 stars. It does work but I feel it could work a little bit better. For the Price, If you are Careful, It will last you and perform well. February 4, 2015 I bought this to keep in my backpack for camping or.......well...backpacking. I bought this to make tea or coffee and not take up a lot of space like a coffee pot or french press would take up. I see a lot of other complaints on this item, saying it is cheeply made or some have trouble with it sealing. First of all, this is a very low cost item. It is made well enough that it will work with no problems. But......you may want to check the hinge part, and make sure it is pressed together. Now from what I have seen after making 10 cups of coffee with it, if it gets damaged, it will be from operator error. When you unlock the latch and open it up, do it easily and make sure the halves open oposing each other. Wash and rinse easily, and let it dry, then close it, latch it, and check the hinge. Just in case you need to adjust it. If you let it flop around or allow the halves to twist, or twist opposing each other, it will open up the hinge enough that it may not shut securely the next time you use it. But all you have to do is latch it, and press the hinge section back tight. Not rocket science, not hard to do, and an easy fix. You just have to be a little conscientious, and do a little preventive inspection and adjustment from time to time. But for a backpacker or camper, the low cost, space and weight savings it offers is a great trade for being a little careful with it. |
Three Star Reviews: | 7% aesthetically very nice. Functionally a little limited September 24, 2016 aesthetically very nice. Functionally a little limited. I use it primarily for brewing green tea. If i were to add milk to my english breakfast tea it gets a little messy trying to take the lid off and add the milk. Really just a minor irritant. It's Cute but Not for Everyday Use August 4, 2016 This is a very cute little pot that made a nice gift for one of our college aged kids. He really liked it and it is nice for a single person or two, if each is only having one cup. The apparatus moves up when you lift the black top and it locks into place for draining. Nice novelty but not practical, if being used every day. I was disappointed with the design of this item June 30, 2016 I was disappointed with the design of this item. I had a difficult time keeping the top on the infuser part and the tea emptied out into the water. Is there a trick to it? I do like the way it looks on my counter and will continue playing with it until I figure a way to make this work correctly. ;-) This pot is the perfect size to make one or two cups of tea May 19, 2016 This pot is the perfect size to make one or two cups of tea, however I find the canister very fiddly and difficult to fit into place and remove. Not the best design and a little sorry I purchased. Too small. May 5, 2016 I drink a lot of tea. And the size of this fella is much too small. Makes a little more than one cup. I was fooled by the picture.....Shame on me...But it is so cute! | 13% Works well but poor quality October 30, 2016 I purchased mine from a third party vendor that took a while to ship. I am still using mine after a few years. It has lasted well without rusting. But, the quality is poor. The clasp does not line up well. So, it is difficult to close and clasp. The mesh is a little too wide and lets some of the smaller tea leaves out. And the hook on the end of the chain does not hook onto any mug. So, I have always have to loop mine around the handle and hook onto the chain. So, I cannot use it for travel mugs with no handle. Overall it works for me. But, is not a good quality for someone who drinks tea daily. Meh, seems poorly made. September 15, 2016 I have had this tea ball for a little over a year, and I feel like it hasn't held up as expected. Namely, the hinge keeps loosening, so the contents of the strainer leak out into your beverage. I had one like this before that I lost and it was great, but this one hasn't lived up to the reputation of its predecessor. I usually use this for tea, but also to infuse flavors into jellies, sauces and other things. I wouldn't buy this again, however. 3" tea ball won't work! April 16, 2015 I love my old "Brown Betty" style teapot, so when I needed a second one for a second home, I found this similar one on Amazon. I love the color choices, I got the red one, which is very attractive.I had to take 2 stars off for one very important reason - I haven't been able to make tea in it yet. The top opening is smaller than a standard teapot of this size, plus, it is an odd D shape hole, I guess to keep the lid from being able to turn, although I can't imagine why it would matter. As a result, a standard pot-size (3") mesh tea ball will not fit in the pot. I have had to search around and special order a cylinder shaped infused. Hope it fits. In the meantime, I guess the 3 stars are for the pot looking pretty sitting in my kitchen. In fact the useful portion which is meant to be filled with tea ... December 9, 2014 Actually, this product is not as described and it is less than described. The description states it to be 2 inches in diameter. In fact the useful portion which is meant to be filled with tea is only 1 and 1/4 inches in diameter, which means it will hold much less than half the tea that a 2 inch ball will hold. That is a significantly false description which deceives as to the usefulness of the product. Having said that I will also say that the quality of construction is adequate and the seller's price is reasonable. For that reason I will keep it and continue looking for a 2 inch or larger tea ball to purchase for my tea pot. Good for single cup of tea July 23, 2014 This tea ball is best suited for a single cup of tea. The stainless steel construction means that it's durable and easy to clean. The latch is secure and has not loosened with almost a year of use now. The mesh has also stayed in good shape with no fraying or discoloration. The chain is the perfect length for a large mug, but a bit long for a traditional teacup. The hook at the end of the chain is great for placing on the side of the mug for easy retrieval. I did try to make a pot of tea once using this mesh ball and I regretted it for two reasons: 1) The ball is not quite big enough to give you enough tea for more than, at most, two cups. So the tea was very weak. 2) The chain is not at all long enough for a tea pot and it just kind of floated at the top, making it difficult to brew. Is it actually stainless steel? June 11, 2014 This item was advertised on Amazon as stainless steel. However, nowhere on the package does it say what material it is. I only have the list title on Amazon's word to go by. Given that the product was manufactured in China, which has a certain reputation for product materials not being as advertised, this gave me pause. I will still use it, at least until I get a better one, but I would have liked to feel a little more certain that the product I received was as advertised. |
Two Star Reviews: | 5% Defective, trying again April 16, 2016 I like the design a lot but mine had a very tight lid on the infuser. Eventually I got it to open but all that stress caused the handle to break free from the diffuser lid. I assume that the tightness was a manufacturing defect and so am exchanging it for another. Not very impressed. January 22, 2016 Bought this tea pot for my wife as a gift along with an assortment of loose leaf teas. We've found two big annoyances with this. One, it's quite difficult, at least on the one we received, to open the infuser basket without removing it from the lid. So there's a bit of disassembling and reassembling every use. Two, and most annoying, is that the holes in the basket are too coarse and too many bits of leaf pass through into the tea and then we end up straining the tea a second time. In the end my wife is much happier with the stainless mesh infuser ball she already had. I'd like to return it but unfortunately we discarded all the packaging, which appears to be required for Amazon returns. | 10% Definitely not worth the price September 29, 2016 My primary impression of this tea ball, upon opening the package, is that it felt extremely flimsy and cheaply made, something I might want to think twice before using to infuse a liquid I was about to ingest- but I was a busy student and I needed my tea fix. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the ball didn't fall apart immediately upon first use, nor second, nor third, and so on. While it did sustain some dents, they did not have any impact on the function of the product. Shortly after (a month or so?) the hinges on the ball began to adjust and I began finding far more leaves in my tea than I would have preferred, due to the fact that a sizeable gap between the two sides of the ball had begun to open up. It was time to toss this one in the trash and move on. I feel that $5 is far more than this is worth.Note: I noticed many other reviewers speaking about the length of the chain and the size of the hook, I was using the ball in a regular-sized coffee mug with edges that weren't terribly thick, so this wasn't much of an issue for me. There were, however a few instances where I attempted to use the ball on a thicker mug, and had to resort to wrapping the chain around the mug handle and hooking it through itself. LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING June 9, 2016 I purchased this because it looked to have a very fine mesh screen to keep ALL of my loose leaf tea inside. In fact, the screen is fine but the tea comes out between the two round frames that the screen attaches to. This defeats the whole purpose in using this. MAJOR DESIGN FLAW!!!! eh June 24, 2014 I wouldn't buy again. it is discoloring to a point I wonder if this thing has all kinds stuff in the metal that shouldn't beoh and the latch sometimes comes open and my tea spills out--yeah wont be using for much longer you get what you pay for. April 10, 2014 First, it took FOREVER to receive(it comes from China). It is a cheaply made item, if you are looking for quality for price, this is not it. Plus it was smashed in on one side when received. It does not affect the brew, so not a big deal. The sides do not close close together securely so there was a lot of release of the small particles from my tea leaves which I then have to try to fish out. The mesh is slightly discolored to a black color (upon arrival) and left a tinge of metallic taste in my tea the first few times. Will search for a higher (priced) quality item. bad October 11, 2013 Doesn't close all the way so when you put it in water all the leafs get out. wish i would have spent the few extra bucks to get a better quilt y one. Pay as little as you can for this January 12, 2012 The product is one of 10's of designs of getting tea from tea leaves or chopped leaves.I say pay the least because I see it sold about 8 times by various vendors from prices of $2.50 (about)delivered price to over $5.00 or more. But after I used it for a few times I felt it wasn't worth $2.50delivered price. The reasons are these:1. the clasp that holds it shut has several problems.a. it won't close if the 2 parts of the ball aren't perfectly lined up and it doesn't help in lining them up.b. if there's any tea near the clasp it won't shutc. if the wire (1) is in the way the clasp won't shut(1) the wire is supposed to be a way to remove the ball but it doesn't really work.a. Because although it has a hook it won't stay on the side of the mug unless you're using fine thin chinaplan on fishing it out with a spoon or fork.PROS - It is all stainless steel except for the rivet on the wire. I'm a bit surprised but there ya go.CON - if you heat / reheat / add heat with the ball in the water that's ok but the wire will becomered hot and you'll remember if you touch it.(note that the only reason not to heat metal in a microwave is when there's no other material like waterto absorb the waves of energy. However if the dimensions are small enough (like the links on the wirethey will absorb microwaves and the wire gets hot)Here's ways you can do the same for less money or better.make your own using a funnel and nylon stocking. when you pour out tea through the stocking the teawill be caught and the funnel makes sure it's into the cup. Price = free (about)I'm just saying this is barely a working product. Beware.Last point. If the clasp breaks there's no way to hold the 2 halves shut and thus it's lost. The claspis held very tightly by the rivet and from my background in sciences that work with metals it seemslike about 50 uses and I can expect that rivet to simply break. I may be able to fix it. Most willthrow it away and waste $3.00 (about). Why ever waste money? |
One Star Reviews: | 11% Thought it would be perfect for brewing two cups of tea October 3, 2016 Thought it would be perfect for brewing two cups of tea, which it does. However the infuser lets some of the leaves escape. Also the black knob at the top will not stay on. File 13. Worst product ever got from Amazon. Already falling apart after first use. June 13, 2016 Design flaw. Extremely hard to get the stainless steel strainer open wet or dry. Already falling apart after first use. One Star May 22, 2016 the cover is inside the jar .....and there has not been any response to my feedback Not happy with this purchase February 15, 2016 Not happy with this purchase. Can't get the basket to stay on properly; drops into the pot everytime I try to use it. Silver area on top lid is actually a type of coated plastic. Looked cute, but I am really disappointed. Gave it one star because it does make for an interesting looking shelf ornament, I guess. One Star January 9, 2016 The tea filter is useless! It's a pretty but a useless tea brewing pot! Loose tea gets through the"infuser". | 16% Leaky Tea Infuser February 23, 2015 This tea infuser is a disaster. It's basically a sphere divided into two halves and held together with a hinge and a clamp. The clamp is the problem. The clamp has a hinge of its own, and that hinge has a rivet going through it, and the rivet has a head. That rivet head keeps the two haves of the sphere from coming together tightly. So when you put the sphere into the hot water, tea leaves start spewing out one side of the sphere. Disgusting! There's no point in returning it. It's a $4 item, and the postage to return it would be greater than that. Live and Learn! Waste of money January 27, 2015 It's good this tea infuser was under $2.00. It was shipped from China and arrived in a tiny envelope with some padding. I can't adequately describe it, so I'm including a photo. The "ball" was smashed and the metal was dark and discolored. A perfect example of "you get what you pay for." I'm not even going to bother sending it back. Go to the store and buy one. March 13, 2014 Don't waste your time on this item. The holes are too big and let's out normal size loose tea!! And the clasp is complicated and too cumbersome. Don't bother with this. It looks great in theory but in reality, zip! Crap March 12, 2014 Used it once and was pleased with it, although the chain is too short for large mugs and if the mug wall is thick it wont clip on so you have to loop it around the handle then hook it to the chain which reduces the depth at which it will float in your tea....Second use? Came apart in my hands - the hinge where the two halves lock together is just crimped metal, no bolt or welds - completely un-fixable. Sent back the very next day. Don't waste your time. March 12, 2014 This may be cheap, but unless you have very large tea leaves, the mesh screen is far too large and most of the tea leaves end up in your tea. Also, shipping took over a month for me, made me think I wasn't going to get it. Rusted after one use August 7, 2013 I think the title says it all - received the product, looked a little flimsy but it worked. then i used it, washed it by hand, and the next time I went to use it the thing was covered in rust |
