It's heavy duty and easy to clean
February 25, 2017
Heats evenly, has a thermostat to keep the heat at an even temperature and one large 7.5" burner and a smaller 6" burner which suits my needs. It's light years beyond my old "fire the middle" gas burner. It's heavy duty and easy to clean.
Excellent for what it does.
August 20, 2016
Pros:-Solid construction; very durable-Sufficiently heavy-Stays in place-Steady heat delivery-Cleans easily-AttractiveCons:-Heat appears to be on/off-Running both burners slows heat up considerably-Not for very wide potsThis is an excellent product with the understanding that it is designed for mobile applications and is not a full-on replacement for a home range. The unit has held up, done everything that I needed and never caused be to worry.
High quality for the price point
March 18, 2016
I have owned this double burner stove for one year.I store this on my backyard facing balcony and use it almost daily for cooking outside. It has exceeded my expectations due to the low price point. I would have paid twice the amount if I knew it was this good. The burner ring heats pervasively and is consistent with the 0 to 5 setting. However, the "5" setting is extremely hot and I rarely use it.A minor difficulty is keeping the burner rings and brushed metal base clean without concerns of damaging or scratching it. I suggest to follow manufacturer instructions.
What i really want is a sealed glass table top electric range. Until they sell those, I am stuck with these.
December 23, 2014
So far it works. It cleans up decently. ~ The problem is my family cooks pasta with a lid, so it always boils over. Check back in a year or two and see if the Cast iron starts flaking off in Big Chips, as happened with a different of the same.At least now the ring around the burner should not rust, even if the burner does. Plus on every single stove i've owned all my life, i come home to a broken knob on the range.I have hope for these. They seem long enough, that the arm inside should not have so small a bite as to snap a plastic edge.Either Way is is a good price, and currently the best table top electric range i could find. What i really want is a sealed glass table top electric range. Until they sell those, I am stuck with these.
Reliable Double Burner - Use as primary cooktop
June 13, 2014
My wife and I live in an apartment without a stove. Given our past experiences with burners, I thought it would be impossible to get a reliable burner for less than 300 or 400 hundred dollars. When I stumbled on this for a fraction of that cost, I thought it was worth a shot. It has not let me down.We use the Waring Countertop Double Burner on almost daily basis as our primary cooktop. It’s one of the more reliable electric burners I have used, even compared to full sized stovetops. The burners get hot quickly. With the large metal plate at 1300 watts, and the smaller metal plate at 500 watts both burners can boil water without a problem, though the smaller burner obviously takes a little bit longer. The surface of both burners heats evenly, even at the edges. The unit is well designed. It’s not that heavy but it feels really sturdy. The legs it stands on are steady and nonslip rubber. Also, the plates themselves are more slip resistant than I’ve seen with other electric burners. There is also no scratchy metal noise that I find often happens with metal coil plates. The size of the plates is a very appropriate diameter for most pots and pans, but they are too close together to have two large pots or pans. However, it will fit a large pan and a smaller pan (see the photo I added to the customer images). The temperature controls work great. Also, this may seem like an obvious thing to put on a burner, but the “on” light is a nice feature. I’ve had other burners that have no indicator which seems dangerous. The unit is easy to clean off with a damp paper towel or sponge. The burners are sealed so as to not allow any residue into the unit, which is nice given that our last portable burner could never get cleaned because of its metal coil design.Overall a top quality burner and believe I’ve made my last purchase for a burner in this stove-less apartment.
Great burner!
February 19, 2013
I am renting for a few months and decided not to spend $450 to install a gas line for my stove. I selected this one after reading tons of reviews. I can echo many of the positive remarks made by others- it boils a large pot of water (from warm temp water) in 9-10 min., a smaller pot in about 5. It cooks an over medium egg to perfection. Stir frys and other high heat cooking is awesome as well. I am still adjusting to cooking on electric, but this burner seems to work perfectly for everything. The smaller burner is good for lower heat items, and is significantly less powerful, but it is great at simmering . I am sure it will come in handy even after i have a full stove again. It is also very sturdy and attractive.

... from achieving enough heat to really deep fry things like potatoes or to saute vegetables at a high heat
February 26, 2017
I didn't rate this double burner with 5 stars because the thermostat on the large burner prevents the large burner from achieving enough heat to really deep fry things like potatoes or to saute vegetables at a high heat. I have successfully fried fish on the large burner. The small burner is very good for heating soup. It reaches a boil, but it takes a few minutes. Overall, though, I'm happy with my purchase
Pretty good burner
May 2, 2016
Pretty good burner. It definitely takes a bit to heat up and does struggle with boiling larger pots of water. But overall, it works great for making my eggs in the morning. Never really figured out what the difference was between this one and the industrial version that costs twice as much. If anyone knows, feel free to comment, I'm curious.
Price makes it a buy, now looking into longevity
March 9, 2015
My Double Burner has been performing well, so far. The larger burner is useful and runs a bit on the hot side, while the smaller one can't quite keep up...slow to get things boiling or hot enough to fry and egg. This is obvious in the wattage set up, but not a huge issue. I feel that if there were a bit more balance between the two I'd have the perfect burner at the best price. That being said, it works well enough for what I need and so far has not failed, which in today's market shouldn't be a concern, but tends to be more often than not. I use it every day and run it long to produce low, slow cooked sauces and soups and keep things hot for an hour or two around dinner times. If it lasts more than a year, I'd bump the star rating up a notch and could state that I'd buy one again.
This is a great stove in home or on a picnic patio!
January 4, 2015
it takes awhile to adjust to the 'personality' of this double burner, - but i like it alot! the only difference between it an other burners, is time. It's weighty enough to stay in place, easy to clean, and in particular, i love the two different wattages of the burners - the 'on' lights - and the burner covers (steel)... (not mess down under a burner!). Because of the steel covers, you can turn off the power sooner than other types of stoves as it stays warmer longer. It's an excellent 'warmer' as well. Recommend it to folks who like a steady heat stove, vs something just hot and fast.
Very Powerful...maybe a little too powerful
December 16, 2014
A VERY powerful burner. Boils water in under 5 minutes. Works fantastic. My only gripe is that once it gets hot, it's VERY difficult to cool the stove back down to a lower temperature, so it's very easy to burn food or overcook it. I recommend only cooking one thing at a time. Once you get something to the right temperature on the bigger burner and you have to turn it down to simmer it, put it on the smaller burner if it fits and put it on low, if that makes sense. Aside from that, I really like this a lot. Works great, and I've had no issues so far.
quality electric burners, especially the large burner
September 9, 2013
Needing to outfit a kitchen in which we (yes, on purpose) turned off the gas and hence the gas range, we turned to this burner unit for our "stovetop" setup, about two years ago.Pros: Flat burners, not coil, are easier to clean up than a coil range. Large burner has plenty of power. Ours had no weird new plastic smells. Can clean burners and around burners with steel wool.Cons: Small burner, at least on ours, runs much cooler than the large burner, so that a 2.5 on the large burner and a 2.5 on the small burner aren't the same temperature. Burners will rust if you leave them damp (but comes off with steel wool). Would definitely buy again if I could get the same quality. On the large burner, I use 2.5 for bringing to a boil for rice etc., then turn down to more like 1. On the small burner, I need to use the higher settings to get much done.SO, when I went to buy backups later I bought 2 large burners . . . however, the two separate large burners DO smell like plastic when you run them. Manufactured later. I hope it was a fluke. It has not yet burned off. Waring, please monitor your plastic quality . . . it does make a difference . . . Plastic/vinyl smells can be very bad for people . . . would gladly pay an extra 50 cents to keep the quality up!

If you cook bacon you have to wait 30 minutes for the unit to cool to cook your eggs
January 5, 2017
It works. However, it doesn't stay hot for long. If you cook bacon you have to wait 30 minutes for the unit to cool to cook your eggs. Once the unit gets hot, it slowly loses heat until it is not hot enough to do anything. I'm sure it is a safety feature, but I am disappointed in the performance. It boils water quickly. It heats soup well. As long as you cook something that is cooked quick, you won't be disappointed.
Mostly OK
December 20, 2015
Had to set up a temporary kitchen and this mostly worked. If using both burners, either one or the other can take awhile to get hot. For example, as I was sauteing on the larger burner, the smaller one would only get hot enough to simmer water -- not the full on boil needed for pasta -- at the highest setting on the dial. But, with a little juggling the burners worked for most of the simple meals that I needed to prepare at the time.
Very unstable heat level.
February 12, 2015
It is supposed to be "pro", but it's not. The temperature at each setting is totally unstable. If you try to cook soup and put on heat level 3, it starts to go through periods of high heat, when soup is boiling out, followed by periods of low heat, when soup does not boil at all. There must be some feedback controller inside which is wildly offset. It's really hard to use when you need steady heat like for frying pancakes.
Waring DB60 Portable Double Burner.
December 10, 2014
The Waring DB60 came in good time, but its the worst hot plate I have ever owned, the temp controls is pure junk, the temp varies about 50% all the time, one minute at same setting ( say 3 ) its to hot, burns things, next minute its to cold your standing there waiting for it to warm back up so you can get the eggs done. I should send it back but don't want and other one if their all like this.
Good in a pinch
June 19, 2013
We are remodeling our kitchen and this has been a nice addition to the Foreman grill as a means to prepare food. My only complaint is the heat up time and the closeness of the burners. It I am used to gas, so this may be normal for electric burners. It gets very hot once on, so boiling pasta is not a problem. This would be great for car camping where electricity is available(I wouldn't leave it outside since it is electric though), if you need additional burners when preparing food at holidays, or for keeping food warm in a buffet. It is fairly attractive and neat looking having a low profile and made of stainless steel. This can accomodate two medium or a medium and small pot next to each other. It cannot fit a large sauté pan and other pot however. Overall would recommend.
Serviceable but a bit erratic
January 5, 2013
We got this to fill a short-term need while we were having our kitchen remodeled. We used it for about seven weeks, mainly for daily stuff like making oatmeal and heating soup. We were successful in doing those things, but found some oddities we had to work around. One of the burners (I'll call it Burner A) took a very long time to heat up and boil water/heat soup--20 minutes or more! The other burner (Burner B) heated up and boiled water pretty quickly, but then when we would turn it down, the burner would stay too hot for simmering, and would not stabilize at a lower temp for a long time--it stayed much hotter than was useful, and the experience was very different from what happens when we turned down a burner-element on our old electric stove. To workaround these problems, we would start the oatmeal on the "fast-hot" burner (Burner B), then move it over to the slower burner (Burner A), which did quite well and keeping the temperature at a low level and even. But because of how long Burner A took to heat up, we'd turn that burner on when we started the water boiling on the Burner B, and it would get to simmer heat level at about the right time. The burners also got a little water on them just from pots that were still damp, but they rusted very quickly. Just a thin layer and it could be wiped off. Not a huge deal but not what I expected.Overall, this worked for us, but it was more like having one working burner than having a two-burner "stove." If you really need two burners, I'd look elsewhere.

This is the second burner, we returned the first one because the lights stopped working. After one use the new one did the same thing. It still heats but not very well.
it's pretty useless if you ask me

The smaller pan cannot cook anything, it's pretty useless if you ask me, I should have gone with a single pan
Warranty makes you pay for shipping
January 10, 2017
I was disappointed that after only a few months of use (where it's literally once or twice a week), that the large left burner stopped working. "Luckily" it's still under the manufacturer's warranty which is TERRIBLE. They ask you to pay for shipping and send it out to their warehouse for inspection and to possibly repair or replace. So yeah, I have to pay for the defect. Not sticking to Waring again after this. It's a shame I paid for a third party warranty for another 3 years after this.
Big burner stop working too soon.
August 3, 2016
I'll give it two starts because it was working fine for about four months, after that the big burner stopped working and the only way to fix it is paying for shipping it back to manufacturer and they probably will fix it for you.
Takes 5 min to get hot
October 13, 2015
I'm very disappointed in this product. Waring is a decent brand name and the product looks and feels well made. However the one thing I have against it is that it takes the burner, no matter which one, forever to heat up enough to be of use. I'm not sure if this is a defective one or standard for this model. I'm returning it.
it's a 50/50 rating 2.5 stars
April 18, 2011
I've been using this product for over a year as my main stove top cooking device. After the first 8 months the large plate stopped heating to full capacity. The warranty was expired because it had been over two years since the date on the product was stamped, even though I had only had it for 8 months... so out of luck there. A worthless warranty in my mind.I also have had to bring water to boiling in my coffee pot then transfer it to the burner. If you don't do this it is much worse than waiting for a watched pot to boil... it is infuriating! But because all else out there looks not so hot either, I purchased another one. This time it only took 3 months for the large burner to not fully heat to capacity.Would I buy it again? I hope not. We should be in our new house soon with a real stove top

Price match from local stores is looking better and better

The light on my burner does not work. One of the downsides to buying on Amazon is after 30 days they don't even give you an option to return a product after 30 days. Price match from local stores is looking better and better.
Don't Waste Your Time
April 17, 2017
Heats up enough that it might (emphasis *might*) keep something warm that is already hot. But as for cooking something, or even boiling water? Forget it!
Bad smell, poor heating, but handsome looks
January 29, 2017
Produced an electrical/burning smell while struggling to get a pot of water to boil. On the plus side: it looks nice.
Couldn't boil water on the left. Had to return ...
November 26, 2016
Couldn't boil water on the left. Had to return it. It took about 15 minutes to heat the cast iron to full (green lit) heat, and then 15 minutes later couldn't boil even a quart of water.Failure at its most basic, and tested on multiple outlets/circuits.
Stopped working within a week
September 27, 2015
Used for a few days and then it stopped working. I was ok with it taking longer to heat up, but from the beginning I noticed problems with the lights -- often the green "ready" light never turned on, even after being on for over an hour. Then one day it tripped a circuit breaker in the kitchen as soon as it was turned on, and after resetting the breaker, the burner was no longer working.
