This keyboard doesn't look or feel super cheap, but it's super cheap
January 4, 2017
This keyboard doesn't look or feel super cheap, but it's super cheap. I like it and it does the job well. After having a wireless keyboard that only caused me headache from disconnection or dead batteries I was happy to go back to a reliable wired keyboard.
Microsoft wired keyboard is top rated for me
April 9, 2016
The new Microsoft keyboard was received quickly and worked perfect out of the box. I bought it to have the standard key type look and feel, the same as I have at work. I prefer wired over wireless because I do not need to move it around and the wired connection prevents any potential wireless problems. The value for the price is good, I can recommend this product to anyone looking for a wired keyboard.

Very smooth keyboard for the right price! I've purchased a few before so I know the quality of these keyboards - cheap - works - period. It's a little loud but what can you say - it was $10! The more expensive kb do make a little noise but this keyboard makes the stroking sound as all kb do with the exception of a small rattle sound accompanying it. No big deal - I don't type much either so I don't need the ergonomic kb (of which I have 2 - also microsoft). If you are looking for a cheap and every efficient fast typing kb - buy this one - heck buy two or three! If you have an office are need replacing 5-10 kb at once - it's just cost prohibitive to buy the expensive ones. Thanks amazon - again!
Perfect, but only after changing a default setting
March 26, 2015
This keyboard is quiet with the perfect amount of travel and force required to depress a key. It features the classic, predictable, and ergonomic layout of 104 keys with three LEDs to indicate the status of number lock, caps lock, and scroll lock. As it is wired it never needs battery replacement nor has any key lag or latency problems. However, with a default setting in Windows 8.1, the keyboard randomly turns on and off, as evidenced by the number lock LED turning on and off. This causes aggravation due to the keyboard not registering a few keystrokes when this happens. The computer also makes a USB connection/disconnection sound when this happens.Fortunately, the fix is easy: uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the device properties. I posted step-by-step instructions with screenshots on how to do so here: http://felixwong.com/2015/03/solved-microsoft-wired-keyboard-200-disconnects-and-makes-usb-connection-sound/
Good Basic Keyboard
January 12, 2015
I wanted a simple, basic, wired keyboard for two computers, so I bought two of these. These filled those requirements excellently. The keyboard has a nice tactile feedback and smooth action. The size and spacing of the keys and numeric keypad are just right. The caps-lock, num-lock and scroll-lock indicator lights are effective without being obnoxiously bright. If I have an criticism at all, it would be that the feet that raise the back of the keyboard could raise it just slightly more, but I seem to be OK with this angle as it is. It was well priced and I am entirely satisfied with this purchase.
Probably no better keyboard for the price
December 12, 2014
I also own the Logitech PS/2 equivalent to this and prefer the Microsoft.http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Classic-Keyboard-K100-920-003199The Microsoft is more comfortable, takes less force to press the keys, and has better sculpted keys (to help your fingers locate the keys and not stray). The Logitech has a slim profile which is nice to save space, but otherwise it hurts my wrists to use.The reason I tried the Logitech over the MS was because I noticed (or thought I did) some lag in keypress occasionally over my USB. (Which could be on my motherboard, not the keyboard.)So I'm going with PS/2 for awhile to see if that cures the issue.Key delay is not important unless you are gaming or venting radioactive gas Y/N?This keyboard gets 5 stars because of the price, it's not the most amazing keyboard but it's good enough for the money.Like I said, if there's a USB delay issue, that's almost certainly on my motherboard and OS, not the keyboard itself. Even if it's not my PC, then it's the USB standard, not MS's fault. My favorite cheap keyboards are the old Dell keyboards. I finally ditched my last one because it was so full of crumbs and spills it was starting to attract squirrels. I almost bought a used one, but doing that sight unseen didn't seem like a good idea.

Best keyboard I've ever had! Don't let the price fool you.
September 1, 2017
I'd been having keystroke delay issues with Windows 10/64 bit and nothing seemed to help as the problem persisted, so I decided to go back to a wired keyboard. I thought that I'd end up with some sub-standard and mildly annoying piece of technology.... Wrong! The keys are responsive and the touch is even. I especially like the spacing that separates every key on the entire board. I am no longer "thumb-fingering" text errors by inadvertently hitting extra keys. In fact, I've bought two more of these for my other production PCs and I wasn't even having any trouble with them! This keyboard is awesome... so don't let the low price fool you. I no longer need to worry about what I am typing in for passwords because what I type is what I get.

August 28, 2017
Great keyboard, one feature I was not expected to be using 24/7 was the file system 2 spots to the right of f12 , one of my games I play daily I have to launch from there, I also make montages on youtube so that button is helping for getting me to my recordings a lot faster. The keys feel good and I have used it for ranked matches on Rainbow Six Siege, has not failed me, only gripe I have with it are the keys are not as quiet as I had hoped but that is about it, at the time i bought it the price was around 13 USD I believe and it was well worthPSAmazon if you are reading this if you can make a wireless version of this that would be amazing for a home theater setup.
It's a keyboard
June 23, 2017
It's a keyboard! No frills! A hundred and one of your favourite keys! It's what you'd expect of a lightweight plastic keyboard. Seems durable and well-made, but if you want the feel of a mechanical IBM, this is not for you. This is for folks who are fine with the feel of a laptop keyboard with a *slight* bit more click. (They aren't as "mashy" as most of the laptops I've worked on. There's a little bit more of that good resistance to keep you from grazing the key and inadvertently making another stroke.) In the end, it's a keyboard.
Nice Keyboard.
April 25, 2017
Nice Keyboard. All the reviews have pretty much said it all about this keyboard. The thing I like about this keyboard is the simple key layout. It is straight forward. Hot keys I do not use, so not having a lot of hotkeys does not bother me. When I plugged this keyboard in, everything worked. Key touch was nice. I type pretty much type with a light tough and all keys responded to my touch. Good price with basic features that gets the job done. Can't ask for anything better then that.I would recommend
Great value if you're not looking to go mechanical
October 25, 2016
I want to preface this by saying the 5 star rating is in comparison to other similar keyboards. This isn't a mechanical keyboard and it doesn't claim to be, so I'm not comparing as such.I write for a living--some weeks I might pull 25,000 words depending on what's going on. After going through a number of cheap Logitech keyboards over the course of a couple years, I picked up a mechanical. Then, my mechanical was having some issues and I needed to replace it but it wasn't in the budget. I needed something cheap that would put up with regular use and figured I could toss in a bag if I was going somewhere and didn't want to use my laptop keyboard.I'm glad I picked this one. It sees far more use than I ever intended and it's held up like a champ. After a few months of regular use, the keys still have their lettering, they're all still responsive and more importantly, I've had zero problems with hand cramps or wrist pain.Unlike many basic budget keyboards, the key layout on this one is fairly untouched, while still making room for media controls. There's not a ton of hotkeys, but the ones there are actually useful.I enjoy the feel of the keys. They're not mushy like a membrane keyboard but aren't nearly as tactile as my favorite Cherry Blues. For the price, the typing experience is stellar. This isn't a quiet keyboard by any stretch, but it's also a far cry from the clackety-clack of a mechanical. I can still pick up keystrokes when recording with my headset mic, but it's a background noise and no intrusive on the audio side. One issue I could see if if you're not happy with the angle of the keyboard. It's not adjustable in any way, but fortunately for me, it's a great fit for my normal typing angle. The grippy sections have no trouble keeping the keyboard firmly planted on my glasstop desk either..Very happy with my purchase and will likely pick up a spare to have around just in case.
Perfection for Stupid Cheap
April 14, 2015
I used my old one so much the "location bumps" on the F and J keys wore off to smooth. I didn't want to replace it because It still worked perfectly, I just need those bumps to locate my hand when I am doing AutoCAD. Thankfully, I like this updated version even better. The keys, while not whisper quiet, are less clacky than my previous "basics" keyboard. They are smooth and don't bind at all.THIS ONE HAS VOLUME BUTTONS! These basic keyboards are so cheap in price that I never blamed them for not having volume buttons... but that always bothered me because it is such a useful tool when listening to music while I work.I also love the "Computer" button for quick access to the "My Computer" folder. It also has a Media Player button and a Calculator button. I would have bought this even if it didn't have these buttons, but I love the convenience they add.My ONLY complaint would be the lack of "pitch adjustment." My old one had tabs I could deploy (or not) to change the angle of the keyboard. This one does not, and that is surprising. I have decided to not take a star off for this, though, since the pitch seems to be at the idea angle anyway, so I'm fine with it. Also, that's one less moving part to keep the cost down. But if I were to change one thing, I'd add pitch adjustment tabs.I like the shiny finish and sleek look, which is also an improvement over the older version. This one looks less clunky and 80s-ish.For the price, I would never buy anything else unless you needed a plethora of extra "programmable" buttons for gaming or something. But if you need a stupidly affordable keyboard that has everything you need and nothing you don't... this is the keyboard you want.

Nice Keyboard
August 10, 2017
Works fine but just like the others the letters wear off. The letter A,L and the period key are worn off on mine as I write to where you can see what key they are. I have even tried purchasing the replacement plastic letters that are sold out there and they don't last long at all for my 2 previous keyboards. Just looked to see when I purchased this Microsoft key board and it has been 2 years 9 months but the lettering wore off in less then a year. Funny all the rest of the letters and numbers on this keyboard still look like new.
Great! Except one thing...
May 16, 2016
Great keyboard, although this is perfect for business or doing work on a computer because this keyboard is very cozy and comfortable, this is not great for games. The keyboard tends to turn off by itself after for about five seconds even if you hold on the same button, which is annoying when you play Minecraft because once this keyboard turns off by itself, the character will move forward by itself after you lift that button up. This is just an example if you play games like these with this keyboard. Not saying it's bad or terrible, but it's just one feature I didn't like. Overall, this is great for business or for typing, basically, just for the heads-up.
Great Value for the Price
March 8, 2016
When I first got the keyboard, it worked well. I got this model because it was cheap. The response time is fairly good. The only issue I have been having is that after 2-3 years of having the keyboard, the shift key seems to be sticking and functioning like CAPS lock. If I have paused for a couple minutes before typing, there also can be a lag before it realizes that I have been typing, so it misses somewhere between a couple letters and a couple words before waking up again. I still give it 4 stars because I got it for $8 originally, and it worked for several years before having issues, and the issues that I am having with it now are falling into the category of "slightly annoying" because they are predictable and easy to correct.
Nice, Simple Wired-Keyboard
December 15, 2014
I replaced an old wireless keyboard with this one. I've come to the realization that I have no need for a wireless keyboard. If I am far enough away from my computer to need a wireless keyboard, I can't see what I'm writing. Also, I like the simpler keyboards without the odd ergonomic layout or the extra wrist rests. I've been typing via touch for too long to teach my hands a new layout. This fits the bill. It's simple and I don't have to put batteries in it. I'm still getting used to the action of the keys. At the moment, I don't like they way they feel but that may just be because I haven't given myself time to get used to them since they are different from my old keyboard.
Working fine for now, but was it worth the extra $2?
October 26, 2014
Keyboard arrived on time in good condition, and it seems to work fine. However, several models of this keyboard are for sale on Amazon, all extremely similar in design and functionality, with different prices. I ordered this model because the specifications listed by Amazon indicated that the weight was 1.9 pounds. (Shipping weight was listed separately as 2.2 lbs.) I paid a couple dollars more for this one in hopes that it would be more solidly built, as reflected in the greater weight for this particular model (JWD-00046) over the other similar models. The model number on the back of the keyboard I received is 1406. Did I receive what I ordered?? Is this any better than the ones that cost $2 less?? That's anyone's guess. This light-weight keyboard is made of plastic, like all the rest I saw listed on Amazon. It feels much lighter than 1.9 pounds. It's not in the same league as the old IBM PC keyboards of years ago, which were very heavy and solid. For that matter, it's not in the same league as the keyboard for my Gateway tower computer which I purchased in 2006. All I know is that it's working with my Dell Latitude laptop, and its more spacious layout and extra numeric keypad are great improvements over the cramped, and increasingly flakey, laptop keyboard. So 4 stars will suffice.
Very Basic
January 19, 2014
This is a very basic cheap keyboard. It works well but has no bells or whistles. I plugged it into my extra pc and it recognized it with no problems right away in Linux and Windows. It is fairly light and the USB cable is pretty long.My main computer has a mechanical keyboard(which I love), so when I move over to my extra computer to do something, it feels like I am typing on a keyboard made of mashed potatoes, but this is just a personal preference. I find the keyboard fairly comforable too. It does have legs on the rear so you can elevate it if that is what you prefer.Recommended for anyone looking for a no frills keyboard for a cheap build or an extra/backup PC.

lack of spacing between F1...F12 buttons in frustrating
October 16, 2017
It's a good keyboard for the price, but all the F keys are in a single uninterrupted row, which makes it hard to find the right one to press. I press F5 all the time because I'm a web programmer, I press F11 all the time because that's the best way to toggle full screen mode in Netflix and Amazon Prime, I press F6 and F7 all the time in PhpStorm, and it's frustrating trying to press the right key when you have to actually read what is written on the key to know if you're pressing the right one. Lack of this spacing also interferes with easily finding the right number keys to press, since you can't use the spacing on the row above as a visual clue. Instead of giving us some useful spacing that I loved in my past keyboards, they added two buttons that should obviously have been done in combination with the function key like the other 4 controls that appear on F9 through F12. Bad design decision ruins an otherwise great keyboard; now it's merely good.
Almost perfect!
August 22, 2017
I was looking for a few cheap USB keyboards for our office and came across this one. When they arrived I was actually pleasantly surprised at the design - doesn't look as cheap as some others we have. I am also really fond of the keys. Have you ever tried to use someone else's work station and the keyboard just isn't yours which makes things difficult? This setup has nice keys which made it easy to transition. There's a decent amount of space between each and the keys themselves are rounded. The only downside and reason I can't give it five stars is that although it looks like it's raised because of the design, it has no kick stand in the back to tilt it better. It's slightly flat angled for my taste, but will work! Still a great buy for the price.
For the price it's great. It works well
July 2, 2017
For the price it's great. It works well, the buttons are responsive, and it's got media keys (some available by combinations with the function key). My only issue is the button placement is uncommon so you'll have to relearn some of your muscle memory. Specifically, the F keys feel a bit off to me and I keep hitting the wrong ones. It's not a big deal, but just something to keep in mind if you've built up a lot of muscle memory over the years and really don't want to relearn it. But the for price, you won't find a better deal.
Better for Windows, but a nice keyboard.
May 14, 2017
Actually it is a great back up key board. I am on a Mac, and it works, but it is better designed for Windows. The Windows (aka Apple-command) key & the Alt/Option key are reversed on the left side of the keyboard for a Mac user and there is no Command or Option key on the right side. Works great otherwise & looks good. Since I use the missing right side keys, I had to return it.
Zero frills but it works
December 21, 2016
It's quiet, looks professional, and all the keys still work a few weeks after purchase. It needed just a small amount of balancing via a folded up post-it note under the top left part. My major complaint about this keyboard is that it does not have the little "feet" that you can fold out to change the angle at which you type on the keys. It sits very flat on the desk and is incapable of changing the angle of the keys on its own. Other than that, its a good inexpensive keyboard to keep around as a spare.

October 28, 2016
If you like a low profile keyboard then this is well worth the money. The first time I used one it felt strange, but I much prefer this style over normal keyboards. I know the mechanical keyboards are all the rage but for everyday use and typing I feel these are much easier on your hands, once you get used to it.I have had this keyboard for more than a year and have had zero issues with it. It has the word basic in it's name but do not let that fool you. It is not basic in quality. The only thing it is lacking is programmable keys. That is the reason I gave it a 4 star.

Meh. It works. It's a keyboard. It's cheap.
July 18, 2016
Flimsier than I imagined from the description, but then again it's hard to find a keyboard anymore that doesn't a) feel like it would blow away in a strong breeze, and b) have these mushy soft feel keys that I really don't care for. I'm not looking for the old IBM clicky boards (and if I were, I actually HAVE one in the junk box if I could find an adapter for an AT keyboard!) but a little more tactile feedback than today's keyboards is something I appreciate.OTOH what do you want for ten bucks with free Prime shipping? I spilled a glass of wine in my old one which was getting tired anyway. This will do for now. Soon as I have time I'll go to the local PC parts emporium and actually try some. I loath things that are cordless when they don't need to be, and keyboards are a prime example.
It is ok, considering the price.
April 25, 2016
I have been using Microsoft SideWinder X4 keyboard for a long time and absolutely love it. Unfortunately it looks like Microsoft discontinued it. But this keyboard is nothing like X4. It looks and feels really cheap. Keys have glare that make it hard to see, if you use a desk lamp. Also keys feel loose in their sockets and move side to side when typing. I know this keyboard is much cheaper and therefore it is not a fair comparison. I will be buying a different keyboard. On the positive side, it works, does not require any custom software and has a good classical layout. I really hope Microsoft will bring back X4
It's not a bad product. It's not a great product
September 11, 2015
It's not a bad product. It's not a great product. It is what it is and works. If you need a cheapo wired keyboard, this is the one to get. It's not getting a 3 because it's a bad product. It's getting a 3 because I'm spoiled and I would tell anyone with some bank to pass on this and get themselves a nice mechanical keyboard. They last longer, they feel better and they allow you to type even better and faster.
I do like it better than the wireless one however
March 23, 2015
It is very stiff, but it is well made. Sometimes when I am typing it seems to pause and the first 8 - 10 characters of the sentence I type does not come through. I do like it better than the wireless one however. It's alright, but not the most wonderful keyboard I've ever had, but I do not regret purchasing it. I have purchased keyboards in the $20 to $30 range that do not last and this is a good one and it will last a lot longer. So, actually, it was worth the $12.00 I paid for it. And if nothing else, it will be a great spare to have to fall back on. It is difficult to find a keyboard in today's world that does not cost an arm and a leg and actually holds up.
Get the Logitech K120 instead
March 21, 2014
This keyboard has the following problems in relation to the K120:-Front too high. The clearance from your wrists over the spacebar is extremely high. You will need a wrist pad for this keyboard.-Letters too small. They are tiny and wear off very quickly.-Mushy key feel. The Logitech has much crisper feel.-Slow-ish typing. I can type faster on the K120. YMMV.Overall this is not a "bad" keyboard by any means, especially for the price. But, since they're usually around the same price, I'd recommend the K120 instead.
Non-operable during boot sequence - USB only! Not for "legacy" computers.
March 1, 2014
First, I'd like to say that I am satisfied with the quality of the keyboard, and the way it feels when I type (I've been a touch typist for over 35 years). However, I found that this keyboard is "USB only" - it will not operate at all with a USB to PS2 keyboard adapter. I also found that the keyboard does not function until booted into Windows. That is a particular problem if you need your keyboard to enter your BIOS settings, or to select an operating system on a multi-boot computer. I have two "legacy" computers here at home in daily use, as well as one "modern" computer. The older two computers both need an active keyboard to enter the BIOS settings or to select the boot partition, so this keyboard is not suitable for use on them (these same computers do not recognize a mouse during boot - selection has to be by keyboard). I had intended this as a replacement for a discontinued Logitech keyboard (about 10 years old) on one of our older and most used computers - half of the keys had their labeling worn off from years of daily use, and non-typist family members were complaining about it. Instead, I'll have to swap around keyboards and put this on our newer computer - not the "fix" I would prefer.

September 19, 2017
It's ok. Not as good as the keyboard that came with my Acer cheap-o PC. But for that price, I had to try it. It will serve as a back up keyboard I guess. Way too clicky for me. I guess some folks like it to click, but it's not for me. It's not even the clicking sound - it's the feel. You have to really make sure you slam your finger into every key. I can type faster on the Acer keyboard that's not as clicky and seems more responsive.
Not as quiet as some websites have promised
September 19, 2017
I bought this keyboard after seeing it mentioned on a few websites about the quietest keyboards. I hate having a loud clickety-clacking when I'm working (or silence when I'm not working), so I thought this would be an economical solution. However after receiving it, it is no quieter than the stock Dell keyboard that came with the computer. I thought the keys would be more of a soft material with a little bit of give. The keys are hard plastic however, and still make plenty of noise. It's a perfectly fine keyboard besides that. No frills, cheap, and pretty basic.

July 7, 2017
I got this keyboard a few months back and after using it for a while it is a fine keyboard but I couldn't imagine using it for extended periods of typing. Using it for browsing websites and limited typing is fine. I think I may have been spoiled by the Logitech Wave. Now that is a keyboard I could type for hours on. This keyboard feels small. Even though the length of the keyboard is the same as other keyboards the keys feel smaller. The good thing is the keys are spaced further apart so you don't feel cramped when typing.
Good keyboard but not quiet.
April 8, 2017
Soo... I was looking for a quiet keyboard. It didn't have to be silent. Just quiet. This keyboard is not silent or quiet...Will be returning. To be fair the keyboard looks good but I'm looking for a quiet keyboard.
Fine basic keyboard, but not for my full-time use.
February 5, 2016
I'm coming from an Apple keyboard and am looking for that feel in a PC keyboard: low-profile, chiclet. The body of the keyboard is pretty solid, not flimsy. The keys have the right shape and almost a hair too tall for chiclet. However, my biggest gripe is the action feels "mushy", no real click. This is fine for my backup - hook up to the RaspberryPi. But I wouldn't want to work on this regularly. The price is right. $10-$12 for a keyboard of any sort is pretty descent.Note: I purchased a Logitech k360 and it has the same mush key action. The k750, however, has the action I was looking for.
Poor quality control; OK keyboard for price
May 21, 2015
For the price paid, this keyboard is OK. If I paid more, it would earn 0 stars. Firstly, be prepared to possibly receive a messed up keyboard because the quality control is poor. Out of the box, the keyboard's D key was not 100% functional, all the other keys were fine. I could get it to respond to the D key if I pressed extremely hard. Since it was so cheap, and I did not want to concern myself with a return/refund. I simply popped the D key off, added a small piece of rubber to the inner chamber, and put the D key back on. Now it works. The keyboard doesn't "feel" great, compared to say the $70 Apple keyboard. So you get what you pay for and hence the 3 stars for poor quality control but a great deal otherwise if you need a second keyboard for something.

September 6, 2016
I had neverending issues with this keyboard disconnecting and reconnecting all of my other USB ports. Long story short, I spent about two months troubleshooting and adjusting power settings on USB ports and removing and reattaching various devices in various combinations, to no avail. It's a shame, because the keyboard itself was fantastic. I just don't enjoy wasting hours and hours of time trying to troubleshoot, not when other keyboards are available at similarly cheap prices. I ended up buying the Amazon Basics keyboard, plugged it in and I was all set with zero issues.
There's no joy typing on a keyboard this flimsy
August 8, 2016
There's no joy typing on a keyboard this flimsy. This is not the only flimsy keyboard out there; most keyboards are shoddy these days. Gamers understand this. They buy mechanical keyboards that respond with sufficient spirit and tactile enthusiasm. I could go on, but I won't.

February 27, 2016
I got this keyboard because I've had other Microsoft keyboards and have had no problem. This one has multiple keys that stick or just don't work unless you push on the button numerous times. I am a heavy keyer and thought they would loosen up with use but after a week of keying, I still had the same problems.
Low price, low quality
February 2, 2015
A few weeks after purchasing this keyboard, it started to randomly disconnect from any computer it is attached to, and then reconnect a few seconds later, as if the USB connection is flaking out. Overall, I was looking for a cheap keyboard to use here and there when needed, and it fulfills that need, but it would be nice if it performed more reliably. The feel of the keys is pretty cheap, but for the price, this is what I expected.
Good to have around, but it will never be my primary keyboard.
April 5, 2014
The good: it's simple and cheap. There are no frills, special functions, or software to install. It will work with pretty much any computer manufactured in the last 15 years. The bad: The keys feel loose and wiggle a little. The little bumps on the F and J keys to help with touch typing are very subtle. Key presses offer little tactile feedback and I often hit two keys at the same time and not notice. I don't enjoy typing with this keyboard. You can get a much better keyboard from Microsoft or another brand for only $10 more. I gave mine to the IT department at work to use as a backup.

April 18, 2017
This keyboard makes very annoying clicky clak sounds when you type. The cord is pretty short and it feels as cheap as it looks. Keys seem responsive enough, but its the loudest keyboard I've ever owned.
Great keyboard but died after only 11 months.
October 21, 2016
Great keyboard. I love that it is narrow so it doesn't take up a lot of desk space between monitor and edge of desk. Good shortcut keys - I especially love the shortcut to the calculator. Unfortunately, mine died after 11 months. I have keyboards in the closet that lasted 5 plus years. Bummer. Actually ordering again because the narrowness is really important to my setup but this is NOT a well built product.
Wibbly wobbly.
June 24, 2015
I bought this keyboard to hold me over until I find a decent keyboard that will last a long time. It is a bit worse than I expected because it doesn't sit level on the desk. It wobbles and I have to put a quarter under one of the rubber pads to keep it from moving. I knew it wouldn't permit more than a few simultaneous key-presses, but I at least expected it to sit flat on the desk. The good thing is all the keys work and they are low profile, which I find great for quick typing.
worst than most membrane keyboards
December 22, 2014
It's really not what it's cracked up to be. I get the idea of a cheap, "basic" keyboard you can use in a pinch or for a build for someone who just doesn't care - The cheap Logitech keyboards from Walmart for $15-$20 come to mind. This one, on the other hand, just has issues. Most important is the spacing on the keys - they're far too wide compared to a standard keyboard, and make typing a chore. If you're a gamer looking for a backup, give up the idea of using WASD correctly. Each key also seems off center - as in each individual one is not situated in the center, but skewed to one side or another. The feel is very soft with very little feedback, worst than most membrane keyboards. If you type less than 30 wpm and only use a computer casually, then it will be fine for you. If you are confident around a keyboard and type between 30-70 wpm, consider a higher end membrane (aka cheaper) keyboard. Between 70-120 you will really want something mechanical that doesn't have the play-dough feel, but even this poor excuse for a keyboard is worse than the Walmart bargain bin.
Not Just Inexpensive – Cheap
August 9, 2014
As soon as I receive a replacement, this thing is going back into the box and into the closet as a spare. Unfortunately, I'm very rough on keyboards, so doubtless I will need it again. For the price, I don't suppose one can ask very much. I've had keyboards that have been very expensive (Das Keyboard, and Matias), moderate (Apple and Logitech) and inexpensive (Macally and Kensington). This is the first I would describe as being cheap. It's made of a very light plastic that leaves the entire keyboard subject to flexing and warpage. This makes for a very noisy keyboard as it moves around on the table surface. While the keys themselves are a smudge resistant matte plastic, the surrounding mask is shiny and shows every mark and bit of dust. All in all, this is a very unpleasant experience.+

worst keyboard ever!
September 8, 2016
I am not a keyboard elitist, in fact before using this keyboard I didn't even think there was a working keyboard that wasn't good enough. However this keyboard is awful, because microsoft in their infinite wisdom thought it would be a good idea to build a keyboard that turns itself off after 5 seconds. Now this doesn't sound so bad, but in practice it means that it doesn't register the first key you push so whenever you try to type something half the words you typed are missing their first letter. in addition if you happen to be holding a key down when it turns off it prints an infinite string of that letter. This makes it impossible to type with, let alone play a game. Do not buy this keyboard, it is JUNK.
Barely Works. Absolute Garbage.
April 22, 2016
On a regular basis, the keyboard will just stop working for a second or two as if I had disconnected it. It seems to be firmly rooted in the USB slot, so there shouldn't be any sort of problem. Further, these USB slots worked perfectly fine for other USB devices and switching the USB slot the keyboard used didn't fix the problem. Rebooting the computer with the keyboard plugged in before turning the PC back on didn't fix the problem. Going into the control panel and checking to make sure that there wasn't some sort peculiar "power saving" setting on keyboards yielded no results. It doesn't even seem to be tied into use, as the "plugged" and "unplugged" noises would sound when I was watching videos, using the mouse, or otherwise no using the keyboard at all.Sometimes...it just chooses not to work. Only for a second or two, but that's still frustrating for a brand new product to display that sort of behavior without any obvious work around or even a cause. If not for that, it would be a solidly five star product; it's a keyboard with responsive keys, well laid out. It's exactly what you'd expect a keyboard to be for the price, and when it works? It's exactly what you'd expect. When it doesn't work...you have to ask yourself what is so hard about making a keyboard that they can't make one that stays on.EDIT: I originally gave it two stars because when it's working, it's a perfectly reasonable keyboard. It turns itself off so often however that it's absolutely obnoxious. Now I have to go through a pain in the butt to get a refund for a product that didn't work out of the box. This product is TRASH.
Sometimes when I go to use one of my numbers it actually tabs instead it is like the thing is possessed
February 26, 2016
This keyboard does not work with windows 10. I bought 2 of them and they both do the same thing, the caps lock actually triggers the num lock and the num lock goes off and on whenever it wants, the keys work for a short time then they don't . Sometimes when I go to use one of my numbers it actually tabs instead it is like the thing is possessed.
Not as pictured in tbe item description, loud
October 31, 2015
First, the keybord what i received, was not as pictured. I was specifically looking for the keyboard where the letters are located NOT in the centers of the keys to be able to attach the sticky characters for a different language input alongside the English letters. The product images showed that this keyboard was what I was looking for. However, in the keyboard that I received, the English letters were in the centers of the keys making it impossible to add a second language characters. I decided to use it anyway for now because my old keyboard was too loud. Bit, it turned out that the "super quiet" claim was a lie. This keybord is just a little bit quiter than my 10-years old one.
... my one and only reviews because this product so terribly awful that it warrants one
December 6, 2014
I've logged on to write one of my one and only reviews because this product so terribly awful that it warrants one. Before anyone says, "Well it's a 10 dollar keyboard. What did you expect," I want to say I at least wanted 10 dollars of use out of it. I have been a proprieter of 10 dollar logitech keyboards for as long as I've been on computers. I've lost more of them in storage than I've had them break. This Microsoft keyboard came in, and I was indifferent towards its small stature, because hey, it's a 10 dollar keyboard. However, this piece of crap, and I say that in the most tame way possible, had a mind of its own. Numlock would randomly toggle on/off if it even wanted to turn on. B didn't work, M didn't work, Ctrl would toggle Numlock, would randomly press buttons on its own, and the shift key was sluggish. I let it torture me for 3 days before I decided I was going to return it.I will say this though: I wanted to take it out side and smash it against a tree, hit it with large objects, and let my dog play with it as a chew toy, but it would be a travesty to let Microsoft have 10 dollars for such an inferior product.TL;DR Don't buy this. You will want to put one in your head if you are trying to write/game/keyboard.
Flakiest keyboard ever!
July 21, 2014
This was a replacement for the exact same model purchased 3 years ago, which was ill treated but survived marvelously for all that time. When I began to use this replacement (in a kinder environment) I was really disappointed! I frequently find while typing a word that the first 2 or 3 characters are missing. I have to strike each key with considerable force to be sure that it's recognized, and even then it takes fits and I may have to really pound a key several times to get it in. Moreover, the Ctrl and Shift keys frequently and unpredictably leave the keyboard in the control or shift state when they are released. The only virtue of this particular keyboard is that it was so cheap that I can throw it away (soon!)

They keyboard functions fine. The keys are fairly quiet
October 11, 2017
They keyboard functions fine. The keys are fairly quiet, but I'm a relatively fast touch typist and the space bar is SO loud. Drives me crazy. Had it one day, had to replace it. So, for occasional use it's fine, but if you do a lot of typing, be warned that the noise might get to you.
Junk
June 13, 2017
Junk. The backspace key works SOMETIMES. At other times, hitting the backspace key ONCE erases the entire line of previous characters.
Returned it, cheap product.
March 27, 2017
Returned it. The keyboard was flimsy and didn't sit level on any surfaces. Cheap stuff.
Cable too short
March 3, 2017
Guess they make the cable ridiculously short so your forced to buy the AmazonBasics USB extension cable.
Cheap feeling and long keystroke.
August 16, 2016
First off I am particular about my input devices. Finding a full size layout chic-let style in a streamline form factor is hard. The keystrokes are too long for a chic-let. It weights nothing and is too flexible. I could deal with the cheap feel if the keystroke was less. I really like the layout as it is the size i was looking for.I have had good luck with the Amazon basic line. Bags, cases and batteries.
It produces the kind of clackityclackityclackity sound you'd expect to hear on the soundtrack of an '80s movie like "Wargames".
March 26, 2016
This keyboard is loud, uncomfortable, and not particularly low-profile.It produces the kind of clackityclackityclackity sound you'd expect to hear on the soundtrack of an '80s movie like "Wargames". The board's angle, and the keys' stiff action make it uncomfortable and awkward. If you're switching from a laptop-style keyboard, and need to do a lot of typing, (and/or, if you type reasonably fast), be prepared for discomfort in your forearms and elbows.
