Well when we bought a house there were many options to what Power Drill to buy but I stuck with DeWalt and I'm happy that I did
March 29, 2017
When I was kid my dad told me at Home Depot that if you're ever buying a tool/tool-kit make sure you buy DeWalt! Well when we bought a house there were many options to what Power Drill to buy but I stuck with DeWalt and I'm happy that I did. We've used this in a variety of situations and it's been reliable every time. The order came with 2 batteries, battery charger, bag (though my dog peed on it and we don't use it anymore), and the drill. We bought this along with the DEWALT DW2166 45-Piece Screwdriving Set.
Great tool at a great price!
August 14, 2016
I bought this tool as a gift for my son on his birthday. He has previously owned a similar DeWalt model but without the Lithium-Ion batteries. The other batteries eventually refused to take a charge and the tool became useless. New batteries for the old drill cost about the same as this new drill with Lithium-Ion batteries and appropriate charger included. Hmmm. What shall I do? He was tickled to get the new drill and now can be relatively certain his drill will work when needed.
Great for the price!
May 12, 2016
For the price, this is a great drill. Sure it's not as fancy as other Dewalt's premium drills, but it's great at this price point. You can even buy two batteries at the big box stores. I like the chuck tightening mechanism as you don't have to wrestle the drill when tightening or loosening the chuck.
Can't go wrong getting this.
December 29, 2015
I don't know what other people are complaining about. I had DEWALT cordless 1/2" chuck 18V for many years and this one is not any worse.

I charged 1 battery and will keep the second battery new until the first one dies out and stops holding charge, and used it on at least a half a dozen heavy duty projects. Granted, I didn't use it to make 2" holes with a hole saw, but for drilling and screwing it is perfect in size and quality including going through hard cinder block to hang shelves.
Amazing value for price paid. Even my high expectations were exceeded.
December 21, 2015
UPDATE: Still using this drill over a year later. Batteries still have plenty of life, even with heavy use. I will use one while the other charges. Great product, no issues whatsoever, very satisfied!

I got this item in perfect shipped condition, as expected. Both batteries were fully charged and ready to go. All in all, this is probably one of the best "bang for your buck" purchases I have ever made. At time of purchase, I paid $99 for the drill, two batteries, charger, and bag. Two replacements batteries alone are more than that! I immediately got to work building a table for our kitchen (see pictures). This drill was used for drilling the pocket hols with the Kreg drill. I did not count exactly, but this tool lasted hours of drilling pocket holes in yellow pine before the battery gave out. No slow dying, it just quits which is excellent. I swapped batteries and the charge was complete long before the second battery ran out of juice.

If you are a professional, perhaps you need more power/torque, etc. For the handyman or DIYer, I highly recommend this drill.
An explanation of Unit Watts Out
September 8, 2015
This drill is a beast. DEWALT products have never let me down, and so far this drill is no exception. First of all, it's an amazing deal. At nearly $90 for one replacement battery, even just the two 1.5mah batteries that this unit comes with should be more expensive than the whole kit. Instead for just over $100 you get two batteries, a fast charger, a soft case and the of course the drill. Frankly if I had other DEWALT 20V tools, I'd buy this kit just for the batteries.

This drill is a no-nonsense drill. There are very few bells and whistles, just a workhorse powerful drill with great batteries. It's extremely small and lightweight, probably half of the weight I'm used to holding with normal NiCad battery drills. However after getting used to the lighter weight of the battery, it feels balanced and stable, with a good fit for my larger hands. But it has at least the same amount of punch of a bigger heavier drill, lasting longer with no fade. I love that this drill performs at 100% and dies quickly - the performance is strong until the end. And with the fast charger, by the time battery A is dead, battery B is fully charged and ready to go. The batteries also seem to hold their charge for indefinite periods of time.

One feature I like is the light (the one bell and/or whistle this drill has). I've had other drills with lights - that's nothing new. However, in a few different models, the light would only operate when the trigger was being pulled. If I'm lining up a bit or a screw in a circumstance that requires light, it's not easy to do if the drill is spinning. This light stays on for ~10 seconds after the trigger is released, allowing you to tap the trigger to engage the light, line up the bit or screw, and resume drilling/driving.

The build quality is great. The drill feels solid and strong. My only complaint is the plastic chuck. While I've had no trouble getting up to 1/2" bits into the chuck firmly, it feels cheap - much cheaper than the black metal DEWALT chuck I'm used to. But I guess with this product they had to cut corners somewhere, and if I can still firmly grip a bit, I don't care what the chuck is made out of.

Note: DEWALT seems to be measuring their drills in Unit Watts Out, rather than in/lbs. While this makes sense, as UWO supposedly takes into account both speed and torque, it's confusing. According to this article on ProToolReviews (http://www.protoolreviews.com/buying-guides/max-watts-out/13109/), in/lbs can be approximately calculated with the following formula:

Speed (RPM) x Torque (inch pounds) / 560 = Max Watts Out (estimated). Note that you must use the lower speed to get the higher torque reading.

At 300 UWO, that puts this drill at about 373in/lbs in the low speed setting - not the best, but not bad. Certainly there are more powerful drills, but this one is certainly competitive, and with a name like DEWALT, I felt it was the best bang for my buck. I have yet to be proven wrong.

Amazing as the only tool set in the house
April 2, 2017
Great set to have around the house. You don't need any other tools. The bag is very sturdy. It stores very easily. Battery : lasts a long time if you are not doing heavy work. For light ikea furniture fixing, or other household use don't have to charge a lot. I have charged it twice since I got it and I use it once a week.
This is a must have
August 24, 2015
I'm very happy with this purchase. No, it is not a professional grade drill. But it is more than plenty powerful for occasional amateur use. I've used this to build a 2br apt worth of furniture from IKEA when we moved and this little drill saved me TONS of time and energy. Battery lasted long enough (longer than I did, as a matter of fact). I've also used this to put some screws in our door frame and drywall, I even had to drill through this soft type of steel on one of our bar stools to fix it and this drill did it all only with attached equipment. Honestly, for around 50 bucks, you get all the tools you need for your household. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
One of my favorite purchases ever
August 5, 2015
One of my favorite purchases ever. Proof that if you give a woman a drill, she will drill. Love that it's cordless, and comes with all the other handy tools like a hammer, pliers, screwdriver, etc. I skimmed the manual and the drill is super easy to setup and use.
I am glad I purchased this set and would recommend the purchase to other people.
February 17, 2015
Everything you need to start out with in a new apartment - from hanging picture to assembling ikea furniture (well that is all I have really used it for so far but I am sure if a need strikes around the house that is within my level of repair know-how these will be the tools for the job). My drill works like a charm and keeps its charge well. The tool bag is a big bonus because I don't own any other kind of tool storage. I am glad I purchased this set and would recommend the purchase to other people.
Bought as a gift and the recipient loved it
December 9, 2013
Bought as a gift and the recipient said, "best gift ever". It's a good assortment of household tools for basic stuff - hanging pictures, stuff like that. The drill is only a 7.2 volt but it's not a shop tool. Personally I use a Dewalt XRP hammer drill and a couple of Milwaukee drivers. How does the B@D compare? Well the build quality from what I can see isn't bad at all. It's a bit light and I'm sure it won't last ten years, but should last a good long time.
Entry level Do it your self Drill and Project Kit
September 14, 2013
The kit include essential do-it yourself tools. The drill has 10 toque levels to screw bolts. Includes a Drill bit set too. So far I used it to drill plywood and soft wood furniture. It did the job easily. I just got it a day ago.All the tools are in very good build quality. I purchased it for $40 when Amazon offered a $10 coupon. Extremely good value for money.Only con is,Battery is build in and I think it is not replaceable by the user which is kind of pain if it runs out of juice while you are doing something then you have to wait for 8-9 hours.Don't put drill bits directly in the bag. Use small box since they are brittle if other tools hit them, they might break

This is a great, compact drill
March 14, 2017
This is a great, compact drill. The weight is solid and it feels really well built. So far it has worked very well for me.Pro: In addition to having great balance and plenty of power, one feature I really like is that the work light stays on for 20 seconds after the trigger is released. You can even turn it on by barely pressing the trigger. This is really helpful in dark spaces.Cons: The only complaint I have is that it does not come with a bit holder on the drill or any drill bits. EVERY other cordless drill I've owned for the last 24 years has had one built in. If you want one, you will have to buy it separately. This is not in the description, or offered as a 'frequently bought with' item. Here is the holder: DeWalt Bit Holder for 20V Max Impact Driver/Drill DCF885 DCF885C2 DCF885L2. You can also add a belt clip: https://www.amazon.com/Dewalt-C19-N268241-BELT-HOOK/dp/B007PNC9UE/ref=pd_bxgy_469_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B007PNC9UE&pd_rd_r=4MG7075R6KNT0V6P6Q4P&pd_rd_w=BpYt5&pd_rd_wg=9Yy4w&psc=1&refRID=4MG7075R6KNT0V6P6Q4P. I guess the up side is that you can customize the drill the way you want. I just wish this was clear when I purchased the drill.
Great driver
November 29, 2016
This has performed admirably for the past couple of months. My only complaint is that the battery doesn't seem to last all that long when using as a drill but when it dies the other included battery is usually charged so it's not a problem. Unless you're like me and forget to plug the 2nd battery in, lol.
Nice upgrade from my 18v setup
November 10, 2016
Nice upgrade from my 18v setup. Both batteries in teh 18v finally wouldn't hold a charge and it was almost the same price to get a new setup with more power and lighter weight so it was a no brainer. I do wish the charger would dual charge, least I'd always have 2 good batteries.
Works well
July 15, 2016
I bought this to use scrub bits to scour my shower. The battery doesn't have a long run-time, but the second time I used it, I'd charged the batteries and let them sit for a couple of months. I was pleasantly surprised to find them still fully charged when I used it. The battery that sat for two months lasted as long as the freshly charged battery
nice compact Drill,
December 31, 2015
I know this is not a top of the line drill, but I enjoy it, I have a lot of 18 volt Dewalt this is my first 20 volt, I have been using it the last few days predrilling for screws, and it is nice for it size and weight, I was wanting to use this in the wood shop, have been pleased with the use of it, and the LED I like how it stays on for a about 10 seconds, my eyes are not the best any more and it was very nice to have the light. the battery life seems good to me,

yes there are more powerful drills but I think this unit is a good value,

Good starter kit
February 16, 2016
Bought this as a gift for my husband as a starter kit. We just bought a house so this has come in handy plenty of times. I just wish it came in different colors. But overall, a great value and good starter kit!
Good homeowners kit
December 1, 2015
This kit was much higher quality than expected. I like that on the normal screwdriver you can switch the torque. The only improvement I would make is to the bag that comes with it. There aren't any pockets inside, so nothing is secured. This concerns me because some of the drill bits seem fragile. I will be storing those elsewhere.
Compact Power Drill with Tools
September 20, 2015
All the non-powered tools are of adequate quality for most regular household repair jobs. The power drill is the main item that makes the kit worthwhile. The storage bag could havebeen more useful if it had some separate compartments instead of just allowing everything tobe lumped together. The kit does come with a battery charger for the drill, but it was almost"hidden" inside the bag and was not part of the outside blister packaging.
Good entry level tool set
May 27, 2015
This is a very solid set of beginner tools for a child going away to college or an extra set that travels easily to other locations. I think that with these get help with most basic household jobs, but with one caveat being that the hammer and some of the other tools are a little light weight and probably wouldn't stand up to a large scale remodeling job. The canvas bag makes for easy transport
Very nice
April 2, 2015
This is the first set of tools that I have ever bought and I really like it. I got this full set on sale for $40 which I thought was a great price. I've only used a few of the tools but they all look and feel really solid. I don't have a specific project that I'm working on, just for small fixes around the house so I think this set is good for those purposes. And I can just throw everything in the bag that comes with it.
A great starter home tools kit
November 1, 2013
The 7.2v drill is more than sufficient for all furniture assembly needed to setup a new home. It also works great to drill holes to hang pictures/small objects. I am yet to try any heavy-duty drilling with this yet, but I will update the review once I do. Oh, and the bag is the most useful bonus to have to keep everything in one place. I subtracted one star for the fact that the battery on the drill is in built and is not removable/replaceable.

Very nice unit. However
August 2, 2017
Very nice unit. However, the chuck does not hold drill bits very well. The bits keep slipping and I have to continually retighten the chuck.
Not quite sure yet
May 9, 2017
I love the drill and two batteries however I am not certain if the charger works yet. No light comes on when plugged in. Once I run down one of the charged batteries that came with the unit, I will revise my review. Seems odd the light does not come on.
Defective Brake Chuck Lossens Up Causing the drill bit to fall out
January 5, 2017
A low end low quality drill that doesn't live up to it's name. Has one of the worst chuck brakes. Every time I release the trigger the brake engages and the chuck loosens up causing the drill bit to fall out. My older cordless 2 speed B & D drill never does this and cost much less.
I have several dewalt products and this one is almost a disappointment in comparison
August 8, 2016
The chuck seems very poorly designed to me and I wouldn't consider this for anyone that needs to do a lot of drilling. I only use this for sharpening tungsten and very very light drilling. I have several dewalt products and this one is almost a disappointment in comparison.
Great drill, the light is annoying.
October 31, 2015
The light comes on every time you use it. And it doesn't light up right at the end of the screw bit, it's in a shadow. I would buy it again for sure, just wish it didn't have a light

Black and decker review
April 21, 2017
Low battery level...good product other than that.
Very useful but quality could be better
April 16, 2016
Bought this a few months ago and use all the time to do minor household projects such as hang pictures and curtains. The drill is nice and compact, charges super quick, keeps the charge for a long time, and the variety of tools is great. The cons are that the bag has no divisions or compartments for organization, one of the drill bits snapped in half during normal use, and most of the tools and accessories could be a little better quality. Not bad but not great. I bought it on sale so for the money I spent it was worth it.
For the tool newbie.
November 30, 2015
It's okay, I like the tools, perfect for the office, but I don't like the bag - it's not organized and you need to put all the attachments in a ziplock or something or you will most likely lose everything. The bag is soft and pliable, not hard cased.
I like the kit in general
November 28, 2015
I like the kit in general. Durable and robust. I'd like to put 4*.However, the bag is terrible. I expected to have different sections for different tools inside. Instead, I got 1 sections where everything is huddled. I don't like this bag, because I have to be very careful in carrying this. Otherwise, drills can break.
A decent deal if you don't need a powerful drill
December 6, 2014
A good deal, however the drill doesn't have much power. It couldn't unscrew some small screws in my car when I was changing the air filter. It just stops turning. But it's small and lightweight. The hand tools are all pretty good too.
Average, Very Average
October 28, 2013
I knew going into this purchase that it wasn't a top of the line product. The tools and accessories are low end and useful as a backup set or something for emergencies in the car but not for everyday use. I rarely need a cordless drill so I opted for a small, inexpensive one and that's what I got. The one downside is that the bag they sent with the kit immediately broke the zipper when I first used it. Luckily I didn't need it, but still. One use and it's down for the count. Good set for what it is but don't be kidded into thinking this will be a work horse.

No double sided bit and no holder to put one in. I would have bought something else if I had known that. I think the tool bag is a good Idea over hard case. This give you the ability to carry some extra tools with it.
Both batteries will not hold a charge after 12 months of usage
December 30, 2016
Both batteries went completely dead & will not hold a charge after 12 months of usage. Very disappointed since it was bought as a gift last year and by this year we have to replace 2 batteries. Apparently per Dewalt customer service the batteries were from 2013 (bought in 2015 new) and if left uncharged for that long period they die quickly and can not be recharged.
Not very strong
August 23, 2016
This is definitely not as strong as you'd think it should be for a 20V drill. I had trouble screwing screws into wood in my apt while installing a shower rod. The drill keeps clicking and struggling. I thought this was a much more powerful drill that a screw would slide right in. Not the case.
I have other Dewalt tools and they are great but not this one
March 15, 2016
I have other Dewalt tools and they are great but not this one. 2 problems I had were: 1) with normal use the fast stop it has loosens the chuck and the bit drops out. 2) probably a fluke but after 5 min of use opening and closing the chuck produces a loud grind/ratchet noise and is difficult to open/close. Also, the rubber between thumb and forefinger is uncomfortable with repeated use. I went to home depot and bought the Makita. It's better, no fast stop problem and very comfortable. Amazon makes it fairly painless to return (free) but I don't have the time. Lesson learned.

Good kit - bad drill
May 16, 2015
Kit is great. Drill itself is very very weak. Was stripping screws before it would go into a simple 2x4.
Not As Expected, Bits Broke
November 13, 2013
Broke the screw driver by just playing with it within minutes, and the drill bits broke off in my wall. The actual drill is ok, smaller then expected but works. I wouldn't get caught up in the "bonus tool set" as they break easily. I would suggest buying a drill for 40 then buying the bits separate. Everything fits into the bag it came with but the drill bits will probably break if placed in the bag, like another reviewer mentioned. Overall I wouldn't buy again.

This is a great starter set...for a child. You get what you paid for. The drill bits of are a low quality, The other tools feel like they came from toys-r-us. and the drill has very little power. It does well after the first charge. But U have had for less then 3 months, and the torque has already gone down, the battery life is much shorter. I am not happy at all with it.
Doesn't Last
October 29, 2015
When I first got the item it was exactly what I was looking for, a great small tool kit for someone who just needs it to do basic drilling and house work. However, soon after I got it the small magnet in the screw driver broke in half and fell out so I was unable to use it. I wasn't too worried, as I already had a nice screw driver. A few month down the line and the drill completely stopped working and holding a charge. I charged it for hours and it only lasts about a minute; I'm not exaggerating, I can't even drill a hole in the wall. It doesn't even work while it's plugged in. Completely worthless and it's not returnable or refundable. I'm disappointed in the purchase and the quality of the product, I'll definitely rethink any future Black & Decker purchases.
