August 15, 2016
I purchased this to keep in my hydro pack as backup for my bad knees when I ran the 2016 Spartan Beast in Montreal. Unfortunately I ended up having to use it as about halfway through the race (7 miles) both of my knees went. This stick saved my life, or at least provided enough support to make it through the next 6.5 miles! It is light enough, and folds small enough to easily fit in my hydro pack, and it took quite a beating with no trouble on the second half of the race. I later took it to a Spartan Super in Barre, and luckily I didn't need to use it--but I felt reassured knowing it was in my pack if things went south!
Great trekking pole for the price
September 30, 2015
Great trekking pole for the price. It folds down to easily fit in a backpack or carry on luggage, and it opens easily. There is no problem, as some users reported, with clicking as you walk. Just be sure to tighten down every joint. I also found that the EVA grip absorbs perspiration far better than a synthetic cork look alike that I have on another post. A good reason to buy this pole is that Weanas is a really nice company, I contacted them for a new grip because mine was chewed up by a squirrel. Weanas doesn't have replacement grips, so they offered me a $10 discount on a new pole. I appreciated their generous gesture and will look to buy their products again.
A Superior, High-Quality Product
July 11, 2015
Several weeks before starting a walking tour through the national parks of Hungary, I bought one of these poles "just in case." I really did not anticipate putting it to use very much. Those plans, however, changed overnight when, just before boarding a plane at O'Hare, I severely twisted my right knee. It soon hurt to the point where my wife and I even contemplated canceling the trip since it was evident that I would have to be listed among the walking wounded should we go. Stubbornness, or perhaps stupidity, forced me on board but for the next ten days, the Weanas Alpenstock was my closest companion. Without it, there is no way that I could have managed to complete our tour. Several earlier reviewers on this site complained about the pole's stability fearing that it was too weak to take a proverbial pounding. I cannot count the times that I put my entire 250 pound weight fully on it with not even one hint of collapse. Indeed, there were numerous times in which the pole was the only thing that stood between me and the ground. It never once failed. The Weanas is simply a first-rate, superior product! There are lots of higher priced poles on the market today but why spend the money? It is no overexaggeration to say that, in my case at least, this particular item more than earned its due again and again. At Amazon's pricing, it is one of the best buys imaginable. An easy 5-stars and then some.
Everything I wanted.
March 12, 2015
Easy to assemble (shock corded) and fold up, strong and convenient, easy to adjust the height, lightweight, compact, attractive. Nice wrist strap. I am 5'6" and about 145lbs. This item was great for me. If you are really tall or heavy you might want to get a longer one for going down really steep hills, but it is pretty sturdy. There was some mild flexing when I made an effort to do it after reading some reviews which said it was a little flimsy. While I am not super strong, I do work out with weights four days a week, and I got the feeling that this flexing was key to durability and kept it from crumpling. Since the terrain I cover is pretty tame, I only got one. I can imagine two would be better for longer, more serious treks. Good for testing the ground around water before making a crossing. (I got this after falling through leaf cover into shoulder deep water while trying to pick up trash at a park. There just are not always nice sturdy sticks laying around and this easily fits into my hydration pack so I can have it with me just in case! lol)
Gave it to my hiking buddy as her birthday gift and she loved it! Was very steady
November 5, 2014
Took this to Mt. Mitchell during the snow and wind last weekend. Gave it to my hiking buddy as her birthday gift and she loved it! Was very steady, held her weight for balance and on a few slips in the slick spots.

September 13, 2014
I'm very impressed with these. I have been looking at various collapsible poles now for about 18 months, and always figured I'd pony up and buy a set of Black Diamonds. A few months back, I started knocking out 14ers in Colorado this year, with the goal to get 10 in about 6 weeks. I have used about 4 others sets of trekking poles in my hiking life and was never particularly sold on any of them. Obviously when a hike become a difficult class 2 or class 3 scramble, fixed poles become a PITA, and I usually end up strapping them to my chest or bag. I also like to be able to adjust my poles (shorter up mountain, longer down) since I have a bad knee. This set was the first "hybrid" (adjustable, collapsible) pole I stumbled across on Amazon, and I figured for the price it would probably be cheaply made or heavy. Surprisingly they were slightly lighter (an ounce each) than my other 3 sets, and the ergonomics of the handle surprised me as well. I have put about 40 miles and 4 peaks on them so far including Colorado's highest peak, and the second highest in the continental US, and I was impressed enough to come back to order another pair.

ups and downs.
May 28, 2016
i was very glad to have ordered this before a week-long trip and some pretty steep hikes. it packs well in my suitcase but i wish it came with a strap to keep it closed when it's folded when don't carry it's bag around. also, and this might sound strange, but the stick makes a "click" noise every time i use it, every step when i place the stick on the ground it makes an annoying metal sound. i guess because it's metal.

February 12, 2016
I haven't used this pole yet but I've had it out many times practicing the process of putting it together. It is very lightweight and fits into my carry-on tote bag which will make it easy to take out for TSA here in the USA and the pre-flight security checks in Europe. The pole seems sturdy. I like the adjustable wrist grip. I would have given this product a full 5 stars but I've had a problem a couple of times with getting the pole to assemble properly. I think that the problem is with me though and not the product. I just have to remember to be careful when I stretch out the parts not to stretch them too far.
Affordable folding walking stick.
October 13, 2015
This product helped me negotiate the uneven terrain on our recent trip to Italy and France. My wife and I walked all over archeological sites on our trip. This stick was strong enough for my 210 pounds. It folded easily and went in a small back pack and mid-sized secure man-purse. The cost was significantly less than other folding sticks I own, but it worked just as well.
Does the job at a reasonable price, but..........
May 25, 2015
I like it, but the thing came apart at one fold and I could not get it back together. The lower section had unscrewed itself from the upper section, and of course, since the upper section housed the elastic, it retreated from view never to be retrieved. Apart from that, it seemed to do the job and, in fact, I have three more - two for my wife and the remaining one for myself. Admittedly we haven't given it too much of a challenge as yet, but that will change as we are due for some mountain hiking in CO at the end of June, so we shall see.........One other thing I noticed was an annoying "click" every time I placed it on the ground. I finally figured out that that the section joints were loose and to fix the problem I screwed down each section joint to expand the yellow thingy (technical term!) that lives at each joint so that the joints become tighter and fit more snug. Problem solved!
Good buy!
April 28, 2015
I love the fact that these fold down to a great size for travel. When I am not using them on a hike I put them in my backpack. I am 5'2" and this was a tad bit to tall at its shortest hieghth - but i adjusted to it and they are just fine. The small sack it comes with is convenient - cant hurt to have if you like to pack it away when not using.Additional bottom piece if you plan on going on a different terrain.I saw comparable hiking poles at REI that were way more expensive. Sure they were great quality but they didnt fold down to a travel size like these!
Excellent and affordable trekking pole
August 31, 2014
I bought this for an upcoming trip to Italy. It is perfect in almost every way. Small and very packable. Lightweight. seems sturdy enough. I just wish it would adjust to a shorter size. I am 5'5" and the handle is a little high for going uphill.

March 20, 2016
I used it yesterday for the first time and it is really good! Easily foldable and therefore no problem to put in your backpack when you can not use it (steep hiking stretch where I had to use both hands). Also adjusting for descending / ascending is perfect. I will use it a lot and am confident it will hold for quite some time.UPDATEAfter a few months I changed my rating form 5 stars to 3. These are not bad, but keep unscrewing, so the whole trip you keep fastening the different parts. Probably it is the way I put the pole on the ground / between rocks that it keeps getting lose. I bought others
Cord attachment broke
September 6, 2015
These poles are very convenient and easy to assemble. However after only a few uses, one of the poles I bought broke so that it was no longer attached to the stretch cord. It could still be screwed together and used so it's not useless. We will continue to use it as is and it is a good size to pack in a back pack for hiking.
Not for short women
August 3, 2015
This was what I was going to use for treking about Italy. There is just one big problem...it doesn't seem to be made for shorter people (I am 5 feet tall) and from what my husband and I could tell, there isn't a way to make it short enough for me to use. I had to send it back.In its favor, it is very compact and is easy to take along on your travels, but only if you are taller than say, 5'6".

June 15, 2015
I love the idea of these and at first seemed like exactly what I wanted. I ended up buying two for myself and two for my husband. We hike 3 times a week and sometimes in areas that leave us feeling a little unstable. One of the sticks broke somehow and the mechanism that should keep it all together slipped back into the stick, so it is basically useless. I bought another one to replace it, and that one seems to have broken in a different way. The plastic expanders that are suppose to fit within the pole keep getting stuck and one part actually broke off. So while they might be good for the occasional hike, the quality is not good enough to rely on them long term
Trekking Pole, 34 Inch, Duralumin Sc 5
March 4, 2015
I bought this pole to assist me in a walk on the El Camino to Santiago de Compostela. I have never used a trekking pole previously but have down-hill and cross country skied and understand the principle. Due to the fact I am still recuperating from a racing bicycle fall eight months ago I thought this would be beneficial and it appears to help. In fact it is very similar to a ski pole, but breaks down into four equal parts that easily fit into a foot long sack. The pole is not connected on a bungee cord as newly created canes. It is made of strong aluminum and the sections fits snugly into each other and can take 195 lbs of downward force without bending. Although it may not feel strong to hold this weight, it has the ability to ward-off an attack dog and also block an alligator of 5' or less by placing its tip or foot plate in the reptile's mouth. The plastic foot plate of the pole functions on rigid and firm dirt surfaces well.At this time I have not figured out what purpose the clamp with the screw portrays approximately 12” from the top of the pole and what function the round plastic donut attached to the pole strap represents. If someone knows about these items, please let me know.
Good stick, poor assembly at factory.
November 27, 2014
They look good, are lightweight, and function well when properly assembled. That was our problem. They did not come from the factory with enough tension to stay together when opened up. It took way too much of our hiking time to untie little knots in the elastic cord and tighten these. If you get them, test them before you go and make the elastic cord much tighter BEFORE you put them in the car and head out.

Nice pole. 2 stars is because it's a little deceptive. Picture shows 2 poles and it talks about poles in description but only is one pole not 2 and now have to place another order and another 2 days to get another pole. Please make you description and picture clear on what you are getting
Not for serious trekking
June 14, 2017
These are inexpensive poles (1/3rd the cost of others) and may be fine for causal walking but once assembled they are not stiff enough for any serious trekking. Seller was fine and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.
You get what you pay for
July 21, 2016
After only limited use by my wife, the end cap that holds the wrist strap popped off. Also the locking mechanism that allows height adjustment is pretty cheesy. The elastic in one of the poles that holds the sections together broke. I would recommend spending a bit more money and getting amore robust product.
Not for the big and tall crowd.
April 28, 2016
Overall great if you are a short skinny person. The problem I had was when I adjusted the height to it's maximum and then tried to put any weight on it. The thing just gave way and slid down to it's lowest setting. It has a wheel on the latch that is supposed to allow you to tighten the tension but when I did that and tried to close the latch down it snapped and actually made it worse. I have returned this product and will try a different brand.
Great fold-up design returned for lacking comfortable, versatile handle.
May 27, 2015
I liked the way it folded up and it seemed pretty sturdy. But I disliked that it was too long for me (I'm 5' 4 1/2"). The killer was the handle. It was very uncomfortable and felt like it would cause blisters.

March 10, 2015
Good sticks, but didn't like the loud clicks every step when sticks contact floor while walking. In my case, with rubber tip and on my household carpet. Also, hand grip position were not OK for my age-related hand conditions of mild osteo-arthritis. I returned them. I will look for angled handles that have thicker gripping, or see if a cane-like stick is out there somewhere.

My very first hike, it snapped in two!
November 26, 2016
When the walking stick arrived last week, I really wanted to like it. It wasn't the lightest, but it felt solid. The compact size was optimal. All the accompanying accessories were there.Taking it out on my very first hike, it snapped in two when heading downhill. The tip and 4 inches of the stick got stick in mud, and one of the upper segments immediately bent. Trying to bend it back, it then snapped completely! What a disappointment.
Don't trust this to keep you upright!!!
September 25, 2016
First time using at beach pulled up on pole and bottom section had broken off. Amazon would not replace due to being past the 30 day refund window(even though I didn't want a refund).Contacted manufacturer and they did not offer the courtesy of a reply.
Very disappointed in this trekking pole
August 1, 2016
Very disappointed in this trekking pole. Purchased it in December as a gift for myself. Used it exactly twice. On the second hike the top cap and strap broke off from the pole making it unusable half way through the hike. I contacted Amazon but it was too late to return it. I purchased BAFX poles for my daughter and her husband, and they have been wonderful.
I liked this pole but there are problems
October 23, 2015
I liked this pole but there are problems. If you use it in mud it can get stuck and then it comes apart when you try to pull it out of the mud.Eventually this resulted in the shock cord breaking.I like the pole since it can fit in a day pack where your standard collapsible will not. However there needs to be a way for once you open the pole for the various sections to actually lock together to avoid the thing sticking in the mud and then you pulling it up and breaking the shock cord that connects the sections.
use caution
July 14, 2015
Use caution with this product! I bought it because it had some great reviews but the top snapped off on me my second day using it. The scary part was I was crossing over a log in the Costa Rican rainforest at the time and could have really been hurt.
Do Not Waste Your Money
March 14, 2015
I am the husband of the purchaser and received these trekking poles as a Valentines day gift.I really wanted to like these walking poles but unfortunately that is not the case. As described, these poles look good out of the box and do come with the pictured bag and are packaged pretty well. All arrived in new condition and were light weight. I was very excited to get out on the trail and use them.Once out on the trail however, this excitement quickly dissipated. Although the poles adjust quickly and easily, they also quickly and easily come apart. Any time the pole hangs up on anything, it becomes a wet noodle, offering you no support until you stop and get it snapped back together. This is a huge irritation if you are hiking on anything other than a fire trail. If you are on mud, rocks, or snow, you can forget it. They simply do not connect snugly enough to hold their shape. The other complaint I have is with the wrist straps. They seem pretty nice from the pictures but the issue is with the padded area. The pad is on the adjustable side of the strap so when you try to tighten it, the pad gets partially drawn into the handle and then there will be no more adjustment. This is not a big deal if you have a wrist that is 6 inches wide, but for the rest of us, that just won't do. Not to mention, the adjustment in the handle for the strap is plastic. One snapped in the first five minutes of use, leaving a long dangling strip of nylon for the remaining 2 minutes of use before i finally got fed up and put them back in my pack.To make matters worse, since these items were a gift, and bought by my wife a few weeks before Valentines day and two weeks before I got to use them, there is no chance of return from the seller “Huzala.” So now we are stuck with a pair of below par poles that cost over $50 for the pair.Overall, these poles would be great with a few manufacturer revisions but as they stand now, save your money and buy a decent pair of poles.
