My brats LOVE it!
January 22, 2017
My brats aka cats, absolutely LOVE Wellness canned food. I've tried a few different flavors, and so far, this one is a hit! And the can being so large, it lasts at least a full week, which saves a lot of money, especially when you have chow hounds like I have! ;) Last week, we had stomach issues with one of the cats. We looked up online and got this Vitapet Probiotic Powder Blend For Dogs and Cats with 5 Billion CFU Per Serving that was recommended by online vets. THey also said it is good for all of the cats. It has worked well for my kitty. I use it about once a week. Thanks Vitapet!
High quality wet food that won't break the bank
November 6, 2016
This cat food is priced at a great price point. The quality of food that you're getting at this cost is almost second to none. I did a lot of research into cat foods for my furry baby, and I can confidently say that this brand is one of the best.Your cat deserves a healthy diet and wet food gives that to them. It's more filling than dry food, has more water content (cats don't like to drink water but need to in order to urinate properly), and this particular brand comes in many different flavors. At this price point, and the added convenience of Amazon delivery, there really isn't another option than to get this food for your kitty. I can assure you they will thank you for your decision.
Great cat food but price makes no sense.
August 10, 2016
I've tried cheaper brands and my cats (Bengals with sensitive stomachs) often end up getting sick. They do well on this cat food - they vomit less, their coats are shiny and they are generally in better health. I did try downgrading their food for a while to save money but it was not worth the vet bills that ensued. I have decided that it's better to feed them quality food and pay the little bit extra. The only complaint I have is that for some silly reason, it is cheaper to buy twelve of these 12.5 oz cans than it is to buy a case of twenty-four of the 5.5 oz cans of the same exact stuff. I normally would feed two 5.5 oz cans a day....so I am paying less money to feed them 12.5 oz a day in the large cans vs. 11 oz of the same exact stuff packaged in two of the smaller cans. In essence, I am paying less and getting more food by purchasing the larger can. That said, I don't like having a can standing open all day (even refrigerated) and would rather feed them two fresh 5.5 oz cans a day - so would be happy to see the cost of the 5.5 oz cans come down to match the cost of the larger cans.
Top quality food at a great price
July 12, 2016
This review is based on the 12 pack of 12.5oz cans. I have been purchasing these for a while now and as long as my cats keep eating it, I won't be buying anything else.Recently, my oldest cat (who is 14) became diabetic. I have been feeding my cats grain free dry food for about 4 years now but had to find another solution for him. After some research, I found that an all wet food grain free diet was the way to go.I am a stay at home mom with 2 kids (2 1/2 year old and 8 month old) and 2 cats (14 and 12). Money can definitely get tight on a 1 income family, and good quality wet food can be pretty expensive. After trying many brands, I finally came across this. This is good quality food and these large cans are a great buy. 1 can lasts 2 days, with 1 feeding in the morning and one at night. My other cat continues to eat dry food so my diabetic boy will snack on that throughout the day. He's getting old now, but he seems to be doing a lot better. I have definitely found the food I'm going to stick with.Just a quick warning: not all the flavors are grain free. I decided to try the Salmon and Trout variety and did not realize until I had already used 10 cans that it contained brown rice. So if you want grain free (which is the best option regardless of health because let's face it, grain is just a filler in pet food), make sure the flavor you buy is a grain free one.
Healthy Staple

This was a staple in our house our two kittens' first full year. The vet was very pleased to know we were feeding this to our fur babies. I hope Wellness will keep the costs down in order to offer a quality food for all kitten owners.
My Cat's Favorite Flavor...And Healthy Food!
May 30, 2013
I have been feeding my cats Wellness Food for four years now. What I like most is that, like most of the Wellness line, this Chicken and Herring blend is made without grains. Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they only need meat...in the wild they only get grains in the stomach of prey they eat. If you put grains in food, cats continue to eat until they've had enough protein. So the grain is just added calories for nothing. Since grains are cheaper per ounce, it's a great way to save the manufacturer money, but it's not good for your cats.In the first year after switching from dried food and lower-quality grain-filled wet food, both my cats lost weight and their fur became softer and shinier. The difference was most evident in my plump, dumb inactive cat; he lost a couple of pounds and went from middle-aged dumpy to sleek and active. He has gotten a lot smarter and is more lively in general.I also like that this food doesn't have any rendered animal fat or meat byproducts, which are disgusting slaughterhouse waste it is illegal to sell to humans. As far as how my cats feel, they think this is just okay. They would give it three stars for the smell/taste. They always prefer the cheap stuff, like fancy feast, because it is swimming in rendered fat which smells delicious to cats just like potato chips do to humans. I call it "kitty crack." Cats choose food mainly on smell, not taste, which works great in the wild but not so much with commercial foods where their quality sensor is way off. To get my cats to eat this food at first, I needed to mix it with kitty crack--first only a quarter good to 3/4 kitty crack and gradually building up to 100% over about six months. It's never a good idea to get into a battle of will with cats...first of all, you'll lose, and second it is not safe for them to go more than 24 hours without food because of potentially fatal liver issues. After the initial break-in period, my cats ate this happily. This is the favorite of both my cats, followed by Turkey/Salmon blend as second favorite. I buy a variety to mix it up nutritionally and to make sure they don't get too fussy. Since they never overeat this, I simply feed them as much as they want...if they ask for more, I give it.One can is enough to feed one cat per day. This size must be opened with a can opener and stored in between uses. For this reason not as convenient as the 5.5 ounce sizes which you just pull open, but the cost difference over a year is substantial. It's not too much of a pain as on days that aren't too hot I leave this on the counter at room temperature between feedings. If for any reason it's not done by bedtime I put it in the fridge. Cat's digestion is much faster and a bit of bacteria in food is less likely to cause problems.Cost-wise, these are about $2 a day, and Amazon's price is competitive with big-box pet food stores. When I first started using this, the price seemed prohibitive so I took out the calculator and did a serious analysis. Compared with the Fancy Feast I was buying at a big-box store, per ounce this is a LOT more expensive. But then I realized that since Fancy Feast is packed with grains and junk cats don't need, comparing price by weight isn't fair. I redid the analysis based on daily servings of protein, calories etc. and the two foods turned out identical in cost. It would still be cheaper to feed dried food but if I'm going to go 100% wet the price of this is actually comparable to supermarket foods.Wellness also sells a Core brand which is even higher quality, but it doesn't come in the larger more economical cans, making it prohibitively expensive.Note: I read the one star reviews from here. Looks like there have been some quality-control issues with a new plant. I have not experienced this issue...the quality appears the same in the 4+ years I've been buying this. However, I will post if I experience a problem and update my review immediately.

My two senior kitties really like this food.
June 22, 2017
My two senior kitties really like this food. No more bits & pieces of good laying around bon the floor. One of my kitties turned 19 yrs old this year & her teeth are as tiny as a kitten's but she has no problem eating it. She still goes outside to sun on the porch etc so I feel like this food is keeping her healthy.
Thank goodness for this dry cat food
October 2, 2016
Got a new cat recently from a cat rescue where the cats were fed "grain free" which in my opinion is not "better". Especially when the first ingredient is chick peas and peas. I haven't met a cat that will go out in a field and scavenge peas and chickpeas so I have a problem with those ingredients. My cat already at home was on a cat food that has mostly meat, but did have rice and oat bran (fiber). What a mess. The peas and chick pea food bloated and made my cat gassy as hell and my cats food gave the new boy diarrhea up the kazoo (remedied that with activated charcoal). I tried two food bowls, but each thought the other was getting special treatment so they would eat the other cats food!.. and get sick. Goes to prove that emotions are bigger drivers than are sick body influences form bad choices (people tend to be the same too). After scouring the shelves of pet foods for a dry food that didn't have peas, chickpeas or oat bran... a dry food both could eat, we located this one. I was terrified they would both grimace, but both cats gave me a thumbs up! Hallalujah cause it was the only option on the shelf that met both cats digestive needs.
Best cat food
July 6, 2016
I had been feeding my cat this food for a long time and he was always happy and healthy. Around a year ago I switched to a different high quality organic and grain free brand for convenience and better value. A few months later he started losing a lot of weight, developed a UTI and had trouble holding food down. I recently switched back to wellness and the change is remarkable, he is incredibly healthy again, has gained a healthy amount of weight and no more litter box issues!
Healthy Happy Hedgehog
August 8, 2015
We use this food for our Hedgehog... Digby loves it! This was recommended by the certified breeder we bought him from and have had him on it from nearly the beginning. He is almost two now, and has had no health problems at all, is alert and happy and always finishes his food. Seems to be a decent healthy product for any small animal, including cats.
Low in Magnesium for UTI prone kitties
April 27, 2015
Excellent alternative to SD by Purina which is cost-prohibitive in a multi-cat household. Low in magnesium so good for kitties who get UTIs or gravel. Has kept my formerly diabetic cat healthy and symptom free from both diabetes and UTIs/gravel issues, which he was plagued with before this food. It's more expensive to feed your cats good food, but in the end, you save on vet bills and heartache, so it's definitely worth it.
The vet did not help much and recommended steroid treatment for him
December 14, 2014
My cat loves this. He was a stray Siamese mix that was fed by various people in our neighborhood. He had sores all over his body from scratching himself, and his fur was very thin. The vet did not help much and recommended steroid treatment for him. I did some research and found that the Siamese breed is prone to corn and wheat allergies. I talked to the neighbors and completely switched his food to grain free. Given that he was a kibble addict, I had to stick with kibble at the beginning and Complete Wellness did miracles. His sores disappeared, he stopped scratching himself and his fur became thick and fluffy. His belly, which had been bald before from chewing, is now covered with soft, fluffy, white hair. I did transition him to wet food after that (probably one of the hardest things I have done in my life!), just because I think that a diet solely based on dry food is not healthy, especially for male cats. He still gets 1/8 cup of his beloved Wellness Complete divided up into two portions on top of his wet food every day, and goes crazy for it. All in all highly recommended by both of us.

Turkey is the Best For Poultry Lovers
June 22, 2017
My cats love this! I've actually been ordering it for 2 years now and felt it was about time to write a review. (Amazon says I already did though. I don't know how comprehensive that one was and I can't find it, so I'm doing this)Why I Love It: It took me awhile to find a wet food brand that I trusted with my cats. It took even longer to find one they actually liked. Most of the ones I tried they would eat only after they felt hungry enough - this one they would scarf down if I let them. They're pretty picky eaters when it comes to quality. They won't eat Friskies, Purina, nor anything else like that.I used to have them on chicken in other brands, I even had them on Holistic Select Chicken for a little bit, but one of my cats started throwing up. I take it that the food is sourced from chickens treated with some hormones he's sensitive to. I moved onto turkey and they've been great ever since, except for the one time I had the brilliant idea to try out Holistic Select Rabbit. They had been so excited when I brought in the food - then they smelled it, realized it wasn't what they were used to, and gave me the nastiest faces ever. Not until hours after their usual meal time did they eat it out of hunger. To be fair, my cats are poultry eaters and have never liked anything else, so I don't fault the brand for it (although I do think they should look into sourcing their chicken better).I mix some of this in with dry food for my cats. One has an extremely sensitive stomach, and I used to have to feed her just 5 pellets of dry food, every 15 minutes throughout the day, because it was the only thing that would prevent her from vomiting. It would be a special diet food as well since normal ones were worse. I would have to organize my life around her because if I wasn't home enough to feed her frequently, she would get too skinny. I'd turn down most outings because I had to be there to feed her. I turned to a dry/wet food mixture, and it's been doing wonders for years now. She can eat like a normal cat, twice a day, on a schedule. I trust the quality of brands I'm buying when I can feed it to her and she doesn't throw up, considering how sensitive she is to it (she still eats a little less than the average cat, unlike my boy, hence I believe he was the first one to throw up with the chicken product as he was consuming more of it). My female cat is about 12 years old, healthy as ever, wonderful coat. My boy cat is around 6 years old, and in great shape. One of the downsides to that is he has such a dense healthy coat now that when the heat rolls around, he has that much more to shed onto my clothes and my face.If you're wondering what dry food I mix in with the wet food, it's Diamond Naturals. Recently they've been bought out by a company I don't trust that much, so I want to start looking for another one, but their recipe won't change for 2 more years or so. The new one that will replace it though is supposed to really similar.Shipping: They always arrive on time, but we also have Prime, so of course there's more shipping consistency.Pricing: It is among the cheapest wet cat food brands out there that don't skimp on the quality. I think this is primarily because they offer the 13oz option. See, most cat brands stay with the 5 and/or 3oz sized cans. You'll find that when a brand has all three sizes available and can compare, you pay more per ounce for the smaller ones. In addition, pate is also cheaper than stew, and I feel you actually get more for pate, rather than stew, which is full of gravy.Consistency: Since I've been ordering it for awhile now, I can tell you that at least with the turkey cans, they're consistent. They don't come dented, and the food is always the same.Customer Service: I don't know. From other reviews it seems they need a lot of work with their customer service, but because nothing's ever been wrong with my order, there's been no need to contact them.
Excellent quality and very affordable
December 22, 2016
I've done a ton of research on cat nutrition after our oldest cat has had persistent health problems, and this brand is one of the best I've found. It's also very affordable for the quality, especially if you buy the 13oz cans. Our older cat isn't crazy about it, but he only likes dry food (which is probably a big component of his health issues). Our kitten gobbles it down like it's made of magic.
A LIfe Saver!
December 11, 2016
My elderly rescue cat, a beautiful black Maine Coon, turned up sick over about a 3 month period of time. I had him on a nonspecific cheap, wet food. (I know, I know). His symptoms were a distinct change in his back fur, to a reddish orange hue, like heavy metal toxicity. Weight loss & his saliva dried his fur to almost a matted look. I am not big into vets. I could not afford a $$$$ bill. So, I made the best educated guess I could after comparing multiple cat foods & their ingredients on line. Holistic was my #1 choice. I ordered my first flats. Meanwhile, I thought my cat was going to die. But, he never lost his appetite (the best news!). He enjoyed all of the Holistic flavors & in the 8 years I've had him, I've never actually seen him eat so much! I've fed him on demand for the last 12 weeks. I also bought him a water flow system so he could drink quality, filtered, moving water. Personally, thinking he was going to die, but now he appears 90% recovered. No huge vet bill! Just a change to Holistic wet food ( I use Core dry food) & paying careful attention to his many, small meals a day & fresh water. I'm so pleased with this Holistic cat food product. Thank you for giving me back my precious Jack Black. Keep up the quality work! BTW! My other 2 white cats are big & beautiful & healthy & happy & content on Holistic as well. Wish I had pics to post!!!
Holistic Select Feline grain-free canned food is my new favorite cat food.
July 11, 2016
Holistic Select Feline grain-free canned food is my new favorite cat food. The ingredients are almost all very wholesome (except for Magnesium Stearate, which I have written to them to ask that they remove) and the cans have pop-off tops for ease of use.My cats love this food, and seem to be doing quite well on it. It has only been a couple of weeks since I started them on it, so far. This is available in the subscribe and save program, which I have utilized to buy their food for the month, and that gives a 15% discount.I will update this when I have heard back from the makers, and with any results about the ingredient, and also will update as to how my cats are doing with this, later..
Quality food, first 5 ingredients are made of meat, which is important
March 24, 2016
My outdoor cats love this food. They lick the bowl clean. I really appreciate the ingredients and the fact that it does not contain the carrageenan ingredient that we have been warned about. I am able to get 4-6 meals out of this can because I mix it with crunchies.
Excellent Cat Food...!!!
February 22, 2015
Wonderful cat food! My Ragdoll, which is a senior and has food allergies with other high grade foods..this can food works with her digestive tract and causes zero issues. She's healthy and shiny and acts like a kitten! I only feed my Furkids top brands and this food does not disappoint.

Good product. I would definitely recommend.
April 21, 2017
Good product. A bit pricy but the quality and consistency is there. Our cat loves the chicken & herring flavor. One time we got a letter from the company that the product batch we bought may have been contaminated. They asked us to ship back the batch we bought and they would send us replacements. We really appreciated the honesty. The company didn't try to hide their mistakes. They did the right thing in informing us and trying to make it right. One thing we don't like is the sizing. Why make a 5.5oz can? It's just not enough for two meals for an average cat like ours. Why not make a 6oz or 6.5oz can?
Please make a pop top on large cans!
December 17, 2016
Please put a pop top on large cans! Every single can distorts on opening with can opener, so the lid has to be bent back or pried open. Hazardous, messy, and time consuming. Otherwise this is a good quality canned food without carbs from any source. And the cats eat it
High quality, grain free cat food that my cats enjoyed, but does not have a pop-off lid.
July 11, 2016
This is a high quality, grain-free cat food that my cats enjoy. My only complaint is that the can does not have a pop-off lid, as most other brand current cat food cans do. And the lid is a hard one to open with an opener. It snags badly in two places and takes a lot of back and forth with the opener to get the lid free. The first two rows of ingredients are all just wonderful, which means the greater part of this cat food is excellent. The meats are listed first and are whole meats, not byproducts or meals. Excellent! Also, this includes the most expensive, highest quality iron: iron proteinate. There were only two poor ingredients that I found:Dicalcium phosphate is a calcium supplement, but can cause digestive and intestinal problems. It is commonly found in prepared breakfast cereals for humans, in pharmaceuticals as an inert ingredient to bind tablets, and in toothpastes. It contains carrageenan, which is used as a cheap binder/filler in canned pet foods. This is also often used in almond and coconut milk for humans, and research shows it may cause digestive and intestinal problems. My cats did not show any signs of those problems when I fed this to them, so that is a good sign.I would buy this again, if it were not for the darned lid.
The price on the large cans is excellent for a high end cat food
July 9, 2016
I judge cat food by three factors; quality, price, and cat.Per all the research I've done, this food gets high quality ratings. The apparent quality of the food out of the can lives up to expectation. Cats are sleek, healthy, alert, and energetic on this food. There have not been any issues with vomiting or bowel problems. The price on the large cans is excellent for a high end cat food. I'd love it if I could get it at a grocery store price, but I can't reasonably expect that. Both cats rated it good but not great. They accept it, they don't love it. I've seen much better reactions from them on "whole" foods (Soulistic and Tiki). It's a pate food, so this is not surprising. One problem, and this may be a shipping not a supplier problem, is the dented cans. So far none have been more than slightly dented, however this alarms me.
WAY better than most cat food brands, but contains GMO meat
August 6, 2015
It's way better than most cat foods, no about that. Cat food being wet and grain-free is crucial for your cat's health. So this is most of the way there. Unfortunately, it is made with GMO meat. So I will not be buying again. A waaaaayyyy better option, and similar in price, is Newman's Own Organics - Grain-Free - cat food. Make sure you get the grain-free kind if you go with Newman's, as they have several lines of cat food, not all of which are grain-free. (I want to shout it from a mountaintop: Cats shouldn't be eating grains!!! It will cause them health problems!) At the time of this writing, there are 24-packs of 5.5-ounce cans of Newman's Own Organics Grain-Free cat food available on Amazon for $30 - $40. Not bad. good food, quality control lacking, better options out there.

there are better foods. I started with this and its ok but I recommend hound and gatos canned food as it is 100% protein from meat. many canned foods will add in tons of liver or kidney because it is a lot cheaper than meat. this is better than grains for sure but cats need a more complete diet and we are paying an arm and a leg for our cats food so why shouldn't they be using top ingredients.wellness in particular has had quality control problems. They claim a certain number of ounces per can and I've never weighed them but I can tell you most canned I've got were about 65% full. with hound and gatos, weruva, bff, the cans are always packed to the brim. like I said I didn't weigh to see if I was getting robbed but I feel like it was a space waster to can 35% air with the food and also a environmentally wasteful attitude to the packaging.

My cat is not fat anymore!!!!
October 8, 2017
My cat lost 5 lbs within 3 months of eating this. Even my friends notice when they see her. At first she didn't like the flavor but now she got used to it and enjoys every pebble. They recently changed it to a thinner and harder form. I've used many other, more expensive brands like Blue, Natural Balance, Royal Canin etc but this helped losing most weight. Along with the slow cat feeder, this works wonders. My cat is lean and healthy now. One star less for having so much powder though. Wish it was less powdery.
Love Wellness foods
June 21, 2017
Love Wellness foods, but my foster cats weren't so excited about this flavor. Bought the turkey/fish version afterwards and they love that. Wellness is always a good choice - the rescue groups I know all prefer it.
My cats like it, and it sits well in their stomachs
May 31, 2017
Pros: My cats like it, and it sits well in their stomachs. One of my cats had runny BMs on other food, and he's having much healthier movements after switching to this.Cons: Smells strong like fish food.
Good Product But Still Looking
March 19, 2017
I think this is a good product and one of my cats enjoyed it but the other has a sensitive stomach. I fed it to them for 90-days. My sensitive kitty still got sick more than twice a week. I bought another product and so far so good. If you have a kitty with a sensitive tummy, I'd give this a try as it did seem to help some, just not enough for my "baby".
I try and get the best food for my cat
December 31, 2015
I try and get the best food for my cat, and along the way of my evolution of getting healthier and healthier food for my cat I settled on somewhat of a 50/50 dry/wet diet. I give a small wet food in the morning and basically leave a dry food out for a couple days for cat to pick at. Wet wellness cat food was a go to for a while until the price doubled, so I definitely trust the brand. The price was high for me on this one but any good pet owner knows the comfort in doing whats right. My cat definitely doesn't devour this food, and he'd probably eat some cheap dry foods more zealously but I think that's to do with the flavinoids and filler in cheaper foods. Oh, I almost forgot, I could almost mark this 3 stars cause like a lot of bigger pet food bags it wasn't ideal in opening. You'll have to use scissors, which is fine, but make sure you dont cut below the internal ziploc like I did, it wasn't marked so that was a bit annoying as i now have about 6 months of dry cat food getting a little stale, the ziploc would have been nice. But it seems like a high quality food so I recommend.
Worth the expense!
April 30, 2011
Moses, my 8 year old cat, was having trouble with itching, dandruff, and excessive earwax accumulating in his ears. His vet suggested that allergies might be the culprit, so before spending hundreds of dollars on allergy testing, she suggested that I switch him to a premium diet (grain-free, if possible). Switching from a diet of Fancy Feast (aka Kitty Crack) and Friskies was no easy task! He refused to eat Blue Buffalo, Science Diet, and a few other brands of dry food. For some unknown reason, he's taken a liking to his Wellness Complete Health! It does have a meaty, natural smell and feels slightly oily to the touch. His coat is much shinier, he's dandruff free, and his earwax problem has improved by about 30%. On the downside, he's gained weight. My vet said that this food is higher in calories than most other brands, so you'll want to be sure your cat isn't overeating. Also, I've found that if Moses's diet isn't supplemented with wet food, he gets constipated (which was diagnosed by the tiny balls of poop that stick to his butt or end up around the house). This was never a problem before he started eating this brand, so beware.

my cat does not love the flavor, but her mother is happy with the ingredients, so I mix it with cheaper smellier food so she will eat it. I am hoping that this is just transition and ultimately she will accept it.
Cats Eat It!
December 2, 2016
It took awhile for my cats to really start liking this cat food. It is very thick. My cats love cat food that has a gravy like consistency so I add warm water and make a gravy with it. They now eat it just fine.
Good Ingredients
November 10, 2016
the food arrived in good time and is very nicely priced for such healthy listed ingredients. Unfortunately, only one of my kitties will eat it and he does not always finish it. Maybe it's something I could get them all used to, but I don't know. Not sure why they don't want to eat it. They won't eat Spots Stew brand food either. It's not like I feed them kitty junk food, but I guess there is something in the brands I feed them that attracts them and whatever that is is not in these brands, which likely means these brands are better for them. I wish I could know for sure.
Cats devoured Holistic Select Salmon flavor!! Great find!!
September 15, 2016
My 1st purchase of this Holistic Cat Food was a great experience. The cats/kittens at home really enjoyed this & went nuts over it. Naturally, I bought again but my 2nd purchased arrived with damaged cans. All dented. Couldn't imagine how that happened. Clearly they were shipped that way from the manufacturer but the SELLER is AMAZON so their should be quality control. Being that it's a 50/50 experience...I might purchase sometime in the future as my furry children did APPROVE. And the ingredients are exactly what I look for in cat food. I even buy organic cat food. So this Holistic Option was a great runner-up to my organic brand. This is a 5 stars product but had to withhold 1 star for arrival of damaged product. But still recommend this brand, for sure!!
More consistent in quality and better smelling than Wellness.
January 29, 2016
I switched from Wellness and, non, je ne regrette rien! Unlike Wellness, Holistic Select's is in consistent mass—it falls between 355 g and 360 g—and texture. I like the smell even when heated up. My cat will eat anything, but I do like the more solid texture—versus the mush that is Wellness—since my cat does get as dirty when he eats and Holistic Select is less messy.

May be good but won't know since my cats don't like it
July 12, 2017
None of my cats liked it. It could be good if cats eat it. Not saying it is bad, just that my cats don't like it. Maybe yours will. The company should sell single cans so no loss is taken if cats don't eat it.
Quality Control Problems Again
May 7, 2017
This is a high quality cat food and my cat really likes it. But. Wellness produces in multiple factories and depending on which factory it comes from, it can be really soupy and gross. I though they'd fixed the problem, but the last two cases I've ordered from Amazon are soupy again. They've also been shipping dented cans, including one that was entirely punctured.I won't order it from here again unless they can assure me it will be the regular kind. I mean, who wants to have to ship back a case of cat food?
Love Wellness, but Wellness from Amazon is different.
April 26, 2017
I've been feeding our new cat Wellness Chicken Formula since we adopted her, almost a month ago. Hoping for a deal (because she likes it and I like that it's grain-free) I ordered the 24-pack from Amazon. Before that, I was buying it from our local supermarket and at Pet Food Express. I can't say that I've had as poor of an experience as some other reviewers, I mean, Stella eats the Amazon food with little fuss. But it is different. I started noticing the difference a couple weeks ago. The Amazon stuff is mushier, softer, and a little watery. I've smelled them, and they smell fine, but I just don't get the consistency difference. The Wellness cans from the market are denser. Since I've started giving her the Amazon stuff I've also noticed that her feces are a little softer than average. Not in a way where I feel like there's concern, just noticeably slightly softer. I don't know. I think I'm going to order directly from the company next time or swallow my money and keep buying it from the store.
Good Cat Food - Unacceptable Condition
June 14, 2014
My cats absolutely love this food and the ingredients look great.I received a subscribe and save shipment of four cases of various Wellness and Core wet cat foods on May 6th, including this item, shipped from and sold by Amazon.com. As I knew what was in the shipment and did not need it just then, I set it aside, unopened. For the last week or so, I had been trying off and on to determine the source of an initially faint, but increasingly strong and foul odor. It finally occurred to me this morning that the odor was the distinctive one of maggots. As a previous order of Wellness cat food through Amazon had a damaged couple of cans that ended up breeding maggots (out of four cases; thought maybe it was an unusual manufacturer's problem), and as I could think of no other sources, I finally opened the Amazon box. Imagine my dismay at finding that three of the four cases were badly damaged along one side of the box (bottom of shipment box; sides of cat food cans), totaling about a dozen smashed cans and definitely breeding maggots (fortunately(?), somewhat contained by the heavy duty plastic shrink wrap partially surrounding each case). Given the placement of the damage, I have to suspect that the damage occurred either during packing or shipment. The Amazon box was undamaged and there was no obvious point of impact. My guess is that the cat food cases were either slammed into the box with unnecessary force, or there was excessive, unbalanced weight over the shipment box, but I don't really know. Unless Amazon is distributing boxes bearing their labels to other vendors, or the cat food cans themselves are structurally defective, the damage appears to have been done under Amazon's watch. Of course, it's far too late to return the shipment, and that's my fault, but I doubt that any of the ordinary carriers would want to accept a maggot-laden, putrescent, highly malodorous shipment like this anyway. And despite the return or replace button on the Your Orders page, there does not appear to be an actual replacement option. The subscribe and save discount does not outweigh the product loss, nor does the convenience of not having to drive to a store make up for having to handle and smell maggoty cat food with every other shipment (2 for 4 now). This is simply unacceptable.
Cats liked it, but it contains Carrageenan
April 27, 2014
This food is great if your cat doesn't have any issues like itchy skin or tummy issues. If you have a cat with skin or tummy issues, it's time to get rid of the chicken and try a new protein, like rabbit. All of my cats have really enjoyed this food, despite having some unbeknownst to me, chicken issues. I have switched one cat to nature's logic rabbit with tremendous success and plan to put the other two on it as well to give them a break from this food (anything chicken), but if it weren't for that, this and the turkey version have been big hits in my house, including the cat that has tired of other brands of food quickly in the past. Per Dr. Becker's protocol, I'm going to give their systems a break from chicken for a few months and then slowly transition them back, hopefully keeping them all itchy and tummy trouble.UPDATE 3/1/15: This is very late, but I wanted to put this information out for anyone else that might be interested in monitoring what goes into their pets' food. Having initially been thrilled with this food and the fact that all three of my cats happily ate it, I discovered information about Carrageenan and the inflammation that it causes. Upon lots of researching and even an e-mail to the manufacturer requesting they remove it, I have taken this food out of my cats' rotation and my own diet, as well. Instead, I only feed my cats Nature's Logic brand which contains enough actual meat product that taurine is not added because it is not necessary. Here's a little tip for you...the cat and dog food varieties have the same ingredients, so if you have several cats, like me, you can purchase the larger dog food version much cheaper. It's actually a bit cheaper than wellness if you shop around (my last order of the chicken flavor came from chewy.com and was around $30/case for 12/13.2 oz. cans with free shipping over $49). All of my cats do extremely well on it and have no issues at all on it.At the very least, do some research on Carrageenan and you will see it is not something that we should be ingesting or giving to our pets. I was horrified to find that one of the commenters in an article, who worked in a lab, said they intentionally gave carrageenan to lab animals to induce inflammation. That comment, along with all of the other articles I read from people I respect, have convinced me it is not safe for us or our pets and I will not be buying any more products that contain it.
Something is different.
July 10, 2013
Having put our cat on Wellness canned food we were so pleased to find that this highly rated product seemed to agree with him, when the expensive food that we had to purchase from the vet did not. Finding the convenient option of having it shipped monthly and saving quite a bit through Amazon was also much appreciated. Unfortunately, the food we are being shipped is not the same as that which we buy at the local pet stores. It is much soupier. A call to Wellness informed us that it is processed at different plants. We are distressed that the product has such variation, and are giving it one more month to see if the next shipment will be improved or will again be the soupy product which seems to have been processed with more water. It should be noted that the cat does not seem to mind it as much as his owners.

I am pleased with the food
February 14, 2016
I used to buy my cats the cheap stuff. One fat is fatter than the other and clearly had a sensitive stomach. I thought it was just because she was also furrier - and she was throwing up the hairballs. I've had this food for a month now and my cat has NOT had an upset stomach once. I am pleased with the food. They also don't seem to eat tons of it like the other food. This makes them more full.EDIT August 13, 2016: My cat stopped eating this and we had to take her to the vet. She had fatty liver disease. Ever since, she has recovered but both of my cats will no touch this food. I had to switch
Arrived with rip in bag of food
December 21, 2015
This is a great product. I highly recommend it and I would normally give it five stars. However, it arrived nicely boxed up but with a hole in the bag of food. That is more of a problem than you might think because this is a very big bag. In addition there is more powdery material in the bag then usual, which means the bag has been unduly shaken up and the product compromised. I am using it up very quickly to try to avoid spoilage. I would not recommend buying products in bags like this from Amazon. In the future I will go and buy it directly from the Pet store.
Excellent brand but, overpriced for so little weight.
February 24, 2015
UPDATE: march 2017, am not too happy with the quality control! all the cats are still eating this when we buy it, although not as eagerly as their regular brand of food (4health) lately. having issues with some cats throwing up a lot on this food recently and since ingredients are basically the same as their regular food and they had no issues with previous bags of this healthy weight, i am going to blame it on the fact that they are inhaling powder when eating this food!! there is loads of powder in bag i got recently, each time i put cup into bag to get food out, cup gets coated with thick dust/powder (like flour consistency). i bought 2 bags and don't know if next bag will be the same too but, if it is, i will not ever buy this brand again. expensive enough for 11.5lbs, to have a couple plus pounds of it be powder is unacceptable! After natural balance kept changing their adult at recipe to the point were it was an over priced almost like a store bought brand in the end, we started looking for a new food and Wellness indoor chicken was one of our two final choice.. We have 11 indoor cats and feed at least 3 outdoor feral/strays too (and a possum and birds it seems) so we unfortunately we ended up having to choose our other choice that basically has only one fault compared to this wellness (it contains egg product). we chose the 4health indoor cat cat food over wellness because its a quite few dollars less and has a few lbs more of food per bag but, when 4health is not in stock at our local tractor supply store for awhile and us ordering it online results in a week of waiting for it, we will only buy this wellness food over other brands for it is a great dry food that our cats do seem to enjoy and they do not have a problem from us not mixing it in with their regular 4health food first.. I just wish this wellness brand was a bit cheaper though or came in bigger sized bags for the price. i do love that the bags are zip-locked, makes for keeping whatever is left after our regular food gets here stay fresh till we need it again.. Its really a five star product but, i gave it four stars only because price can be ridiculous for it, like it being $38+ at our local petsmart and petco for 11.5lbs!! Thankfully amazon often has it for right under $30 and it gets to us within two days with prime so we are still able to use this food when we need to..
taste test negative ..
February 11, 2015
My gang has been taste testing high end dry kibble. This got a definitive thumbs down. Been concentrating mostly on grain free, soy, corn, free brands although this one has rice and barley. They have been happy with Instincts chicken and Wellness complete health chicken, eating both with gusto. Their diet is primarily Instincts and i switch to wellness complete for variety. I wanted a lower protein lower fat food to feed some of the older guys. Hoped the Wellness indoor might elicit a favorable response, but they have all walked away from it. Three stars as ingredients list is quite good. If they won't eat it, it doesn't matter how wholesome the food appears.

July 12, 2017
Seems good food but after feeding of Munchkin kitty for few days started noticing something like blood in his feces. Stopped showing when changed food. Vet didn't say anything what's may be wrong. Probably was just a color or real blood. Didn't take risk and changed food to Royal Canine for Persian Kittens. Everything is perfect so far.
They like the Chicken
April 2, 2017
Have 5 cats. If I warm this flavor, they will occasionally eat it. They like the Chicken, Whitefish & Herring better. Have ordered the Turkey & Salmon because they loved the Wellness version until the recall. Have also ordered the Salmon & Shrimp. Will post reviews later.
Cats were not impressed
January 9, 2017
I had high hopes for this food. I've been feeding my cats the Wellness cans for years but saw this while browsing canned foods. It seemed comparable to Wellness with similar ingredients so I took the plunge and ordered a case. The first can the cats seemed to enjoy the food but now they won't touch it. Will be donating the rest to a shelter.
Gave my kitties the pukes!
October 10, 2016
I think this food is a great food for the price. My cats, however, unanimously disagreed with it. Several of them vomited repeatedly on this brand. Not sure if it's because they were previously used to a limited ingredient food, or if it's because of the food itself.
Good value for grain free wet food.
June 3, 2016
My cats are so-so about this food. They eat it (eventually), but they're not gobbling it down like they do the stuff that's not as healthy for them, lol! They prefer a more expensive brand of grain free (of course), but since I have five cats, I'm trying to economize. For the price, the value is good.
Good ingredients but cats are not impressed.
May 16, 2016
Great quality but one of my cats tends to barf after eating this brand. My other cat thinks it is OK but it took a few days. There is very little odor and it doesn't stick to the dish. The ingredients appear to be good quality but I'll probably return to my Whole Foods brand

Constipation and Pain
June 29, 2017
Made my cat very sick and constipated. Sometimes that will happen when switching him to a new food, but it clears up in a day or two. I went through 5 days and had to take him to the vet for an enema. He's allergic to grains, nuts, and most filler crap. This must have some in it somewhere, otherwise he would have been able to go to the bathroom.Don't buy if your cat has stomach issues with fillers. This is a bad product and WAY overpriced.
No thanks.
June 7, 2016
This makes my cats sick. The chicken is ok. But not the turkey. It took me a while to figure it out. I think it's too rich.
Changed in formula? Thinner consistency
April 12, 2016
I've been using wellness chicken for many years for my cat due to her sensitive digestive system. She can't tolerate any cheap food unfortunately. The problem with wellness is that it doesn't look the same anymore, it used to be thicker and my pet would be satisfied for hours after the meal. Last 3 months my pets stools became lose just like the feeding formula. I wish the manufacture posted some update of what is going on with the ingredients. I just want to know that I'm paying for quality and real product and not counterfeit. If someone could explain, I would appreciate it.
Beware - these are potentially harmful FACTORY SECONDS
November 20, 2014
Every. Single. Can. in this flat of 12 was SEVERELY dented. Including those in the middle of the flat. This is NOT shipping damage. The seller is shipping factory seconds without disclosing this in the product description. Again: These are FACTORY SECONDS. The severity of the dents is a huge safety concern because the metal may be broken beneath the label, allowing the food to rot and breed bacteria/mold.With that said, I inspected each can before opening it, and visually inspected the food as I dished it out. My cat readily ate food from most of the cans, although after eating from one of them she puked on my (brand-new) shoelaces. There were two cans she absolutely refused to touch, to the extent she went hungry for two days instead. One of those cans was dented about halfway to the other side. The product seems okay, but
I really wanted her to like this.
September 25, 2014
I used to work at a high end pet store and have fed my cat wellness dry food her entire life. She recently started having problems with chronic cystitis and urinary problems so the vet told me to switch to wet. Wellness is a great food and has really wholesome ingredients. Read the ingredients like you would with human food and you will find that a lot of the top selling name brand foods are full of junk, unlike wellness which uses really good stuff. Unfortunately, this food was a little rich for my cat and made her throw up all over the place and I had to donate the rest of the case to my local shelter. Now, much to my disappointment, she has become really picky and will only eat her Hills chicken. I really wanted her to like this but it was just not meant to be. Go to your pet store and buy some cans before you commit to buying a case of anything on Amazon. And be careful, because as the story normally goes they love something until you buy a case of it then they won't eat it anymore.
There has absolutely either been a change in the formula, or the source of ingrediants
July 28, 2014
There has absolutely either been a change in the formula, or the source of ingrediants. My 10 cats have eaten the chicken flavor wet food for years. I use a minimum of 5 cases of the 12.5 oz cans per month, and the formula has deffinitly changes though at this point the company denies it. My cats will eat some cases as usual. Other cases several of my cats will not touch and the others eat it only reluctantly. Two of those reluctant eaters vomit it up afterwards.Unfortunately you never know which formula is going to arrive, I currently have three bad cases. Best used by 12 May 17, 7WCCSi 08:22To be clear these are not the watery cans from the now unused factory. So if your cats are vomiting, or not eating, it is the food.

They Won't Eat It

I was so excited to find a grain-free option with hairball control that did not have weight control formula. However, my cats refuse to eat it! Neither are super picky, and I even brought the kitten up on Wellness kitten formula...but alas they nibbled on it for 2 days before I had to put something else out.I'm going to try to mix it with what I have, because I don't know how else to get through 11lbs of it!

Pieces are too big and hard for my kitten
February 19, 2017
My kitten didn't like this. She is a rescue kitten who has some dental issues, so the size and hardness of the kibble might be the problem. I purchased this based on reviews that suggested the kibble would be smaller (for kittens), and was surprised at the size...maybe close to a centimeter square? This is also really crunchy in texture, so a lot of work for small cats to eat. Her foster had been feeding her a Hill's Prescription kibble, which she liked -- and which had much smaller and softer pieces. To get her to eat the Wellness kibble, I have to mix in wet food. She won't eat it otherwise. I thought maybe she was being picky, but I recently bought her a bag of Natural Balance kibble for kittens (which has smaller and softer pieces), and she will eat it without wet food mixed in. So if you have a cat that prefers smaller and/or softer kibble, I would say this is not a good choice.
Amazon awful for pet food . This food is not really good for older cats.
February 2, 2016
Has made my cat sick switching to the senior formula, She had elevated kidney levels (SDMA) after one year on this food . Contains much higher phosphorous levels then there adult formula , and Amazon has anon returnable policy onpet food. Not a good place to order pet food if your not sure if your cat will eat it or not .
Cats Don't Like this Flavor & It Smells Terrible
December 12, 2015
I have 2 cats who will eat almost anything, but neither of them seem to like this specific flavor of the Wellness brand dry cat food. They have had the chicken flavor before, and they loved it. This makes me think the problem is only with this flavor. My husband and I have noticed that this food has a strong, unpleasant "fishy" smell which he compared to the smell of cod-liver oil. This makes it unpleasant for us when we have to open the container and feed them.I am still giving this a rating of 2 stars because I am pleased with the ingredients and nutritional value of this food. While I understand that personal taste is just that, personal, the fact that BOTH of my normally voracious kitties dislike this food and it smells awful to us caused me to decide to dock 3 stars. I would recommend this brand, but I cannot recommend this particular flavor.
Cat developed urinary crystals while eating it

I have nine cats, this food is great. They like to eat it, and all of them are developing softer thicker shinier coats. at first it made them poop a lot but that was just their body getting adjusted to it.I have tried a lot of the "top name brands" and so far this wins.**EDIT UPDATE** One of my male cats developed Struvite urinary crystals while eating this, and I will now have to stop feeding it.

My cats will refuse to eat this unless I mix it with another brand that they are sure to eat. My cats are generally not too fussy so I gave this a try against my better judgement but maybe it was the flavor and not just the product....I am unsure. I purchased chicken and lamb flavor.

No consistency in quality
January 6, 2017
My cats normally eat this product. There isn't much consistency anymore unfortunately. Some packages that eat it up like there's nothing wrong with it and this last shipment they hardly touch it. For as much as we pay for this it's pretty disappointing.
Possibly caused urinary blockage
April 25, 2016
I can't 100% say this was the reason but I should have done better research. Our cat just got home from the hospital due to having a urinary blockage. And for some reason even though Wellness brand is a great quality cat food, this brand has caused hundreds of pet owner's cats urinary problems. I only feel like this is true because our cat was doing great with his other food and then him being on this for a month and a half seems to have caused crystals in his bladder.
Downgraded product; much more fat. It's greasy now.
March 8, 2016
The recipe has changed. It is greasy. My cats hate it, and I am now at a loss as to what wet food to purchase for them. They've really liked this cat food for the entire time they've been with me, and suddenly they won't eat it. Wellness Complete Health Grain Free Chicken Natural Wet Canned Cat Food, 12.5-Ounce Can (Pack of 12)I wish the producer would go back to the old recipe. How hard could that be? Is the amount of added fat (maybe oil) in order to provide less meat and therefore make more profit?
Quality issue
May 22, 2015
My cats used to love this food (chicken and turykey). But with the last batch there's something different. They smell it, best case they eat a tiny bit, then won't touch it anymore. Consistency is very different from previous batches. It smells different and the consistency is different, too, very sloppy. Not firm like the batches before. I think I'll test some cans from the store and decide whether I have to change the brand.PS: Just checked. The number on the bottom also starts with 7W....
Dinged cans, cat didn't like this flavor.
December 2, 2013
My Farm Cat didn't like this at all. He went without eating for over 24 hours rather than eat it so I've given up.Previously, I'd purchased the beef & chicken from this company and he seemed to like that well enough that I wanted to experiment with new flavors especially since this flavor was so highly rated. One weird thing -cans are dinged. I read that in other reviews and thought it was just poor handling during shipping but I pulled cans from the middle of the shrink wrapped case and these were dented quite a bit. I mean, dents measuring .625" in depth is quite a bit if you expect the can to retain its integrity. Meaning, the denting of cans is happening at the plant prior to shrink wrapping the cases. So, I don't know what to think. The product seems to have a lot of positive reviews so it is awkward for me to have to report to the contrary.OT: I would not consider my Farm Cat to be a picky eater; I'm still looking for a wet food to supplement kibble if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

DO NOT BUY!! NOT FOR KITTENS!! CONTACTING WELLNESS CORP OFFICE!!
October 4, 2017
I just purchased this kitten food (which we have been using since we have had our kitten) and I opened the bag and noticed the kernels are huge! So much bigger then previous bags. Last night she had the runs all night and was vomiting! She was up all night. Ever since I started this bag I knew something wasn’t right and sure enough I was right! Don’t buy this bag from Amazon, buy from a local pet store and open it to make sure it’s the right size kernels for a kitten! This food sure is not made for kittens!!!

Don't waste your money
October 31, 2016
My incredibly fat Siamese, the one with the greedy appetite, the one without a picky bone in her marshmallow soft body, HATED this food. She refused to eat it. So I guess it did help to control her weight, in that way. I let her theatrics go on for about a week before I realized she would rather starve than eat this stuff. I had to buy her favorite fat cat food instead, by Blue Buffalo.
Bladder stones? Urinary issues? I thought I was paying a premium for healthy food...
August 17, 2015
Six months after switching to this food and my young cat had developed bladder stones. She drinks plenty of water, and the Vet noted that it was strange in a cat so young particularly since all blood work was normal. After doing some digging I found this brand, which I thought was suppose to be superior, has many complaints against it for this very issue. Just beware and do your homework. Urinary issues in your cat can be very expensive to resolve, and even life threatening.
he has liked Blue weight control chicken
April 5, 2015
While our cat is a bit picky with chicken and beef wet foods, he has liked Blue weight control chicken, which was transitioned from Taste of the Wild Salmon which was never a problem.. He absolutely cannot stand this Wellness dry food. When we got the Wellness to try for weight control. we started by mixing the Wellness with the Blue. He left some dry, but we thought he was full - not that he was rejecting the Wellness Finally, after the transition of mixed brands, we started him on the Wellness only. He would smell it, and walk away. After 3 days of no dry food, we went back to Blue

2 cats hate this flavor
November 5, 2017
This specific flavor of turkey and salmon makes one of my cats vomit. Both of them avoid it until they realize they must eat it or go hungry. The straight turkey pate flavor is not a problem for them though. I will donate the rest of the cans from the case that I just bought. Hopefully other cats won’t have the same problem.
Beware exploding rotten cans
November 5, 2017
Can exploded on me and cut my thumb as I opened it. Woke everyone up with a noise that sounded like a gunshot.
My cat says no and so do I
October 5, 2016
I originally had this at a two star, w/the following short review. "It may be a good product for some, but my cat won't touch it. She won't even come near the dish when I put this in it". However, I am now lowering it to a one star based on the actions of the manufacturer. After my review, they commented that they wanted to make sure the guarantee for refund/replacement had been honored. (See their comment). I followed their directions to do that. I got an email back from them telling me to jump another hoop at the email address listed in the email. Did that too. NO RESPONSE. I contacted them several times. NO RESPONSE. I made an additional comment on Amazon. NO RESPONSE. It appears that this company is like a few others I've seen that keep an eye on reviews and make comments or offer refunds for the purpose of damage control. That way when people see the reviews, they see that the manufacturer has tried to work things out or backs their product. Unfortunately, it's all for show, they really do nothing.
S&S turkey shipment made my cat sick
July 12, 2016
We have been using this brand for almost a year and loved it but our last subscribe and save shipment of the turkey formula must have been bad. Our cat got sick and won't touch any of the other cans either. We went back to our old brand Wellness which I don't like because of the carageenan.
All of the cans are dented. Every. Single. One.
May 21, 2016
All of them. All 12. Dented. And the dents are varying in size and places. It's like they found the 12 most damaged cans and put them in one box. The dents definitely didn't come from the same drop or accident. These are clearly 12 individually damaged cans in a box. I wouldn't care if one or two had some dents. But all of them? It makes me strangely suspicious in the care put into the product.1 of my 3 cats will eat the food. And he is pretty reluctant about it.
If you haven't tried it, try one can, first
January 21, 2016
Firstly, I could have sworn that I ordered the Lamb, but apparently I ordered the Ocean Whitefish with Tuna. It probably doesn't matter, because I HAVE FOUR CATS WHO WON'T EAT IT. Hard to believe that some cats love it. Maybe it depends on what the cat is accustomed to. I feed raw, keeping canned food for convenience. But these wil just sit until I figure out what to do with them.Excellent delivery. But with four disinterested cats, I can't give more than one star.
