SIM Supply Inc - exc. place to purchase this
August 10, 2017
I ordered this from SIM Supply Inc. When it arrived I was worried that the needle in the pressure gauge was right at the edge of green and even went into the red at one point but came back again. I contacted the seller, and they quickly sent out a replacement. I was very impressed by their customer service. The extinguisher itself looks robust but I haven't had to use it so can't exactly rate it.
You need these through you house...

These are awesome fire extinguishers. I've used one recently on a car electrical fire and the fire was done and put out within a matter of seconds. I bought 4 of these this time as they need to be centrally located on each floor of my house, as well as in the garage. I need to order a couple more for my vehicles. It's always better to have more fire extinguisher agent left over than not enough. You get ~18-21 seconds of fire suppression. which as a volunteer firefighter, is great for fires that are quickly discovered.

Thankfully i have not had to use this yet. I am giving it 5 stars because i know many large institutions (hospitals) that use this product. Amarex seems to be a very trusted name. A while ago i purchased a Kiddie ABC fire extinguisher and it lost pressure at some point. Luckily i noticed it before i needed it and ordered a replacement.
I would highly recommend having one of these available - they work
May 14, 2016
These are the same 5lb units we have at my work place. Most have set collecting dust for the five years I have worked there. I work near a small airport where there are rental car agencies who run a collective car wash area. A few weeks ago, someone at the car wash had a 50 gallon container of rags setting on top of an extension cord and the container caught on fire when the cord shorted. The guy then poured a 2 gallon bucket of Windex into the container, attempting to put the fire out. The Windex only made it burn worse. One of my coworkers heard the guy screaming and ran out with one of these extinguishers and had the fire out in about 10 seconds. I guess an electrically caused fire of burning plastic, rags, and Windex would certainly cover the whole ABC rating thing. This device handled it well. The powder made a mess that was cleaned up. The fire would have made a much worse mess. The next day we were able to have the unit recharged for about $25. This thing is some real affordable fire disaster protection.

I actually had purchased mine before that whole thing ever happened. I am more than happy now that I have one of these in my house. Get one.
Looking good
March 11, 2016
My family has lot of arson investigators and fire chiefs in it. We're big on fire safety in my family, is what I'm saying. Metal pieces on a fire extinguisher are important; plastic is prone to melting and breaking. I haven't used this one yet. I emailed the local FD to ask if they offered inspections for home fire extinguishers. He said that if I thought something looked off or if I just wasn't sure to bring it in. Your local FD probably would do the same. But mine is fully charged and the handle and connections seem in order.
PS: Ask your homeowners insurance people if they offer discounts for fire extinguishers in the house. Some do!

Should be required
June 14, 2016
You should Always have a fire extinguisher handy - at home and in all of your cars! This is a good priced all-class extinguisher, perfect for any emergency! Twice in my life I have had an engine fire on the road. Having one of these handy saved my car in both cases and at least once saved another motorist, keeping the repairs minor as opposed to losing them completely! They last for years with an easy to read gauge to let you know when they need refilling / replacement.
Good quality product.
February 4, 2016
I bought this item at the recommendation of the fireman on another product review. I've not tested it, but I'm glad I got this one. Sturdy metal handle /trigger, no need to worry about it breaking like with cheaper products constructed of plastic. I also like the fact that it is refillable. I'd like to get out and practice with this, but will have to find out where I can have it refilled first.

Many thanks to the poster who recommended this product over the less expensive plastic-handled fire extinguishers. I was unaware of the differences in fire extinguisher constuction, and I feel much safer having been informed of such.
Cadillac of extinguishers
July 16, 2015
Cadillac of extinguishers. After some research I learned that you can buy some a little cheaper, but they are of much less quality. For my budget, this is perfect for my home and soon my rental units. If you're buying more than one, better to buy bare price and add shipping...IOW, not free shipping; you'll save a few bucks. I'm planning to buy 3 or 4 more.
Big and has metal parts
June 18, 2015
Bought this because the fireman wrote the other review about metal parts and the weight. Love the fire extinguisher and
it will last a long time. Worth the money.
You get what you pay for.
-the real deal mini-extinguisher...
November 3, 2014
-these are the real deal, just like the standard full-sized ones you see, only smaller, around and height. -seem to be excellent, good quality product, refillable, soft flexible hose, metal pull pin... just the right size, good balance between weight and usefulness. -small enough to fit under the kitchen sink, and still large enough to be able to fight a good sized fire if need be, one for the shed, one for the basement, one for the kitchen, one for the garage. -comes with a metal bracket for hanging.

the fire extinguisher is fine.
May 18, 2017
It is what it says it is. Can't report yet if it actually puts out a fire. I will say that "USA Tooling" doesn't describe where it came from though. I got two boxes from ZoroCanada so I wouldn't say "USA Tooling" is 100% accurate. They also sent a promotional set of knit gloves? What knit gloves has to do with buying a fire extinguisher I have no idea? Otherwise, the fire extinguisher is fine.

Although I haven't tried it out (hope I never do) it is what I expected. Good quality!

Nice and heavy duty
September 14, 2016
Nice and heavy duty. I like that this brand doesn't have a plastic handle also -- as plastic is not recommended by most firefighters. We haven't needed to use it yet (thankfully) but we're pleased with it so far and the peace of mind it provides.
The brand to buy
July 24, 2016
I haven't had to use this yet, thank God, but I have high expectations for it. When I went to buy an extinguisher I talked to my brother, who was a fireman. He suggested this brand as the one to buy. Unfortunately, he died a week after it arrived and I was never able to let him know how I felt about his suggestion.

Good product
July 16, 2017
Bought two of these for our new home, based on positive reviews. Haven't had to use them (that's a good thing) so no word on how they work. Packaging is flimsy and both arrived with external box damage. Security seal was broken on one of them.
Good quality, ready for use, hope I don't have to.
February 28, 2017
Hard to say if this is any good until used, but was very good quality product, came fully charged, with hanger hook and as shown. Higher rated than most other ABC units and at a very good price point. Is also rechargeable when the time comes.

Got it to put in my Jeep.
Other options, cheaper & better...
May 14, 2016
This is a high quality extinguisher but it is the lesser aluminum variant. For the brass/stainless alternative, get the B424 which currently runs just $5 more. Another option is to get the aluminum B402 which is slightly better than the B500 and is currently $20 less; a very good deal.
Product looks nice and industrial
April 27, 2016
Product looks nice and industrial. Only issue is some of the tamper cord/seals holding the pull pin broke off. The manufacturer should include an extra tamper cord in every box just in case.

Side note I bought from GoSafetyUSA and they acknowledged the issue I had and quickly sent over extra tamper cords for me.

Came as advertised. Haven't used it yet (thankfully). We keep it in our garage. It is medium size and not heavy to lift so my wife can easily use this if an emergency would occur.

Well, the item certainly appears to be a fire extinguisher. It's very red. It's heavy. I haven't yet had a fire. It looks nice in the corner. I'm not sure what you want me to say here. "Amazing! It saved everyone's life, and defeated Lord Voldemort! Five stars and a WOAH BUNDY!" Or maybe "I NO LONGER HAVE A HOME! EVERYTHING BURNED! ONE STAR!" We'll have to wait and see, won't we? Until then, lovely shade of red. Like a massive potentially life saving candy apple!

Purchased three of them. One of the three had the pin pulled from the handle and the plastic pin retaining strap was missing.
I would recommend a different seller for this product
August 23, 2016
Arrived needing to be recharged. Now we have to find a professional to recharge the "new" fire extinguisher before having had to use it once. I would recommend a different seller for this product.
Manufacturer Amerex provides precisely ZERO support for this product.
February 24, 2016
*Great* support from the seller, Lighting Sales LLC, and Z-E-R-O support from the manufacturer.

I contacted the manufacturer with a question over a week ago. NO RESPONSE WHATEVER. A safety product with no support from the manufacturer isn't worth much.

I just had a fire out by barn that threatened my animals lives and this extinguisher bought only months ago completely failed!!!! Have no idea how in the world this got such great reviews.
Complete waste of money
August 24, 2016
I thought I was getting a quality, reliable fire extinguisher that would last for years and protect my family from a small fire, should such a need arise.. Instead, I look 8 months after buying it and find it already needs to be recharged. I already paid $50 for this, now I may need to pay more? I've never used it, so there's no reason for it to need a recharge when I haven't even owned it for a year. Needless to say I will never purchase Amerex again.
