January 29, 2017
Holds good charge. Fits my 2 year old as well as my 5 year old- easy to maneuver. All controls for in/off/reverse are right up front-- can be detrimental for a switch obsessed kid-- mine keeps turning them and then gets mad when it doesn't work.
Love it!!!

Great, easy to put together. Mirror screws wrong size but still able to put together. Completely worth it for my 2 year old son!! Can't wait to surprise him with this tomorrow!!
Great "starter bike" for your future rider!
December 26, 2015
I ride motorcycles and our Grandson loves motorcycles. His Dad just bought one, and now he loves motorcycles even more. This was a perfect gift for him. It is very stable, easy to operate, and very cool. It is fairly easy to assemble (two men about 15 minutes to put together and apply all the stickers). Grandson absolutely loves it! Best Christmas present by far! He is 4 years old.
Nice Ride!!!

my son is six and a little small for his size, so i was cautious buying this bike. but it fits him well and since its just a little big for him i can see him using it for a least a few years before he is ready to trade up.
Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike
December 30, 2012
I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants to get their child a motorcycle but, like me, is too scared to get a "real" one. I purchased this for my 9 year old, 80 pound, 4th grader for Christmas and he LOVES it!! He has done nothing but ride it since he opened it. It goes about 18 miles per hour when the battery is fully charged, and the ride seems to be smooth on grass and pasture as well as on pavement. The box said this model was for kids 14 and up, but I don't see a child of that age wanting to ride this. The battery charges well and gives the bike nice, quick starts. The machine is completely quiet and smooth. My son did, however, have one wreck already....he wasn't going that fast but hit a ridge in the driveway just as he was making a turn. He wasn't hurt at all and the bike was not damaged one bit. The fully assembled bike weighs a little over 100 pounds so it's not going to crush anybody. You have to be careful, of course, and be extra cautious until you've really got the feel of it. But my son has had two of the Razor motorbikes smaller than this one so he's pretty good with two wheeled toys. Assembly was extremly easy, by the way, as it really wasn't assembly at all. The bike arrives pretty much intact. I'd recommend this bike, and I'd highly recommend this Seller.
The best money I spent
May 31, 2011
The Razor MX500 is the best money I spent. It is well worth it and my 8 year old son loves it (not to mention all the kids on the block as well). I was alittle hesitant on buying it, because the product reads ages 14+ (which is just for Razor policy safety reasons to cover their butts if someone got injured). It is so easy to assemble, about 20 min and it is pretty fast, about 15-17 miles like is reads on description. On a hill, forget it, it goes even faster, so I definitely suggest a helmet at all times. The charging time is great and my son and his friends go on it all day without the charging light indicater, which turns yellow, going on. I am not sure why I read bad reviews on it, but this bike is amazing. I even went on it and I am about 165lbs (the max recommended weight is 175lbs). My neighbors kids loved it so much, that I believe there will be two more of these purchased very soon on my block.
Love it - BUT looked used
October 18, 2010
I ordered this for my 6 yr old son. He is tall for his age - wears size 8-10. I wouldn't recommend it for an average size 6-7 yr old - the MX350 is more suitable. It needed minor assembly which required the help of a neighbor - 2 women - to assemble. 1 man can probably do it. The only problems I have is that some of the stickers were loose as if worn/used and the throttle grip looked dingy as if used (sold as NEW). The other problem is that after 20 mins of riding it would intermittently shut down. Razor repair center told me sounded like a bad connection or short. The problem presented itself a few more times, but quit happening prior to me getting it to the repair (they charge $25 just to analyze the problem). The battery holds it charge very well - 40-45 mins of constant riding. I suggest the full face helmet. The neighbor has the 350 & rides with a bike helmet & no knee & elbow pads. He has been scraped and bruised on the pavement quite badly in some of his crashes. It is worth the extra $ to get the helmet & pads. My son gets his homework done immediately upon getting home from school just so he can go out and ride his dirt bike.

A good bike. a good buy
June 28, 2017
I got this for my son's 2nd birthday earlier this month. His facial expression alone was worth it. The bike wasn't too difficult to assemble ( it took me about 20 minutes and I took my time). It doesn't travel very fast, which is probably a good thing. My 2 year old got the hang of driving it and steering it after about 10 minutes of riding. A good bike.
Great Christmas gift!

So cute and my grandson LOVED it...there are a LOT of decals you have to put on yourself, just FYI
Great ride toy
December 4, 2016
I bought this for my 3 yr old son back in August 2016. He absolutely loves it! Everything works fine and it charges well. I personally think it should go a little faster but my son doesn't know any difference. It is small but I think he could use it until he's about 5.
My son got this for his second birthday and LOVED it!
November 10, 2016
My son got this for his second birthday and LOVED it!!! He used it for a few months so far and it still works great. Note I want to add based on reviews below:

Pros
It is foot operated, but it is an easy pedal for the kids to locate and not difficult to reach. My son is a very small 2 year old and can reach it. A 1 1/2 year old would do great on it still.
The sounds are run off of separate batteries. They do work.
The battery lasts a VERY long time. Some of the negative reviews are for older models and the kinks have been worked out.
My son and his older 4 year old sister have given this thing quite a beating, and it still looks great and moves great. We have had no issues at all.

Cons:
It goes very slow (1.5mph I believe). From the other reviews, it sounds like most other kids are happy with that still. I know my son will not ride this by next year because he will be too bored. We have an RZR for his older sister that he rides in which goes 3 and 5 mph. The motorcycle doesnt offer half of the excitement because it is agonizingly slow. There is another version of a Harley motorcle on Amazon that goes a little faster. For any kid over two, I would suggest looking into that.

saying "that was awesome! "
December 26, 2014
Christmas present for 9 year old boy and 7.5 year old girl. Both able to ride it safely. Both got off and had huge smiles on their faces, saying "that was awesome!". So far, no complaints from this product. Everything has worked as advertised. I write this review for those not sure what age is appropriate. Product is designed for 14 year old, but I think the real prime age is 8-12. Have fun and be sure to follow the directions for charging the battery. Plan at least 12 hours before first ride.
RazoR MX500
January 20, 2014
I purchased two at the same time one for each of my boyz and they love them they are 8 and 10. One of the bikes front brakes rubbed from day one and a few weeks later the rear wheel sprocket broke. Therefore, after I called Razor there was no service center to bring the bike to, so they were very nice about sending me the complete front and rear wheel so I could repair the bike myself.
Works perfectly so far!
May 23, 2011
I ordered two of these for my boys ages 10 and 11. Only one arrived so they had to share while we are waiting for the other. The bike arrived in protective packaging and was easily assembled in less than 1/2 hour. The hardest part is to put the front wheel on. I recommend using some of the packaging supplies to prop the bike up under the battery area. I charged the bike overnight and my boys rode for well over 1 hour and the power indicator never went to "low." There are 3 lights on the right handle bar that indicate power. The first simply turns on when you put the master power switch on. The second glows green when the battery is full. The other is supposed to glow yellow when the battery becomes low. Well, I don't know if that works because it never came on and the bike never lost speed even after 1 hour of near continuous riding. And I'd say about 1/2 of the ridiing was in grass and up hills. This bike has great pick up and the shocks seem to work well. Can't wait for the next one to arrive. One safety tip. Parents... please make sure your child wears a HELMET when using this bike. This is as close to riding a motorcycle as many people will get. This bike will easily do over 20 mile per hour going down a hill. Please wear a helmet and long pants to help ease any falls. Will amend this review after more riding time and the other bike arrives.Received the other bike and have posted a video of the first bike in action. No complaints. Great speed and you can see it in action on the video on grass. It's faster on the street!
Son Loves It
April 2, 2010
When my son was 4 we bought the smaller model dirtbike, MX350, and it lasted forever. He is now 9 and has outgrown the smaller one, so we ordered the MX500. It was shipped before the scheduled time, but was broken when we received it. Amazon was incredibly understanding and shipped a new one the same day. I read a lot of bad reviews after purchasing the item, and was a little afraid. He rode the MX350 everyday for years, so I hope we get lucky with this one as well. I was very impressed with Amazon's return service; this is the first item I have had to return. I will be able to comment more on the dirtbike in a few months. So far, so good.
Very fun. Great first bike.
September 5, 2009
Was a bit skeptical after reading other reviews, but really wanted my son's first bike to be electric. No mainenance and not pipe burns were big selling points. The bike arrived with a broken throttle. It probably happened in shipping, but looking at how the bike was put together (very sloppy), who knows. The decals were just thrown on crooked and don't stick very well... but they're just decals so no biggie (I still wish they would have just left them for me to put on). We used the bike for a while with the broken throttle and had a bunch of fun, but when we got the new throttle (sent under warantee) it was a blast. My wife has as much fun as my 7 year old on it! We have 6 acres of forest with bumps and hills and it climbs and jumps like a regular dirt bike. Tire tread still strong after 4 months. It doesn't do to good with my big butt on it, but that's expected. I would definately recommend the bike. Just watch out for the quality of how it's put together when you get it.
What an amazingly fun dirtbike!
February 6, 2007
This dirtbike is a whole lotta fun for my [...] year old. He loves to get on it and zoom around the neighborhood. I have ridden it and it truly is fun. We actually have several Razor products and they all seem to be pretty well made. Our only complaints were: UPS didn't believe that the dirtbike was under 150 lbs. and therefore we had a lot of difficulties with the delivery AND the dirtbike wasn't packaged in anything other than the original box which looked like it had been around for quite some time. The packing styrofoam was completely broken and in tiny pieces and the dirtbike arrived with a broken throttle. But Amazon took very good care of us.

Minor problems
April 25, 2017
My son loves it! However it stopped going in reverse less than a month after we got it. It needs a bit of help sometimes when he's riding it in the grass. Goes well on the driveway. For the price, I would have thought it would stay in better working condition. Overall, my son is thrilled to have a "bike" like his Dad.

Disappointed
December 10, 2016
Loved the first one we ordered. Tried ordering 2 the first time, but only one went through. Ordered the second one and when received it, it does not light up or make sounds. Not sure if it will charge yet. Having Chrisytmas today. Will probably have to return.

Grandson loved it despite the fact that the lights, blinker sound and engine sounds don't work.
It's decent
September 17, 2016
Pros:
It works good, it carries my large two year old with ease.
Looks cool, no annoying music. Just engine sounds, blinkers, and a headlight.

Cons:
Mirror attachment is faulty, and very junky.
Headlight is a small bulb, extremely dim and basically useless.
Right grip comes with a screw to hold it in place, but the hole to screw it in has no threading, making it basically useless where the grip can just slide right off.
Battery is not removable, so to charge it you have to unscrew the seat and plug the charger into the bike.
There is an On/Off switch directly in front of the rider's seat, with a Forward, Stop (useless), and Reverse switch next to it. This bike is targeted towards young children, who will just flip all the switches and then wonder why it doesn't work anymore.
Things didn't easily line up and my husband who is a mechanic ...
January 3, 2015
We figured since it was a cheapee option we'd get what we paid for. We were right. Things didn't easily line up and my husband who is a mechanic found himself frustrated and yelling to put it together. So far works fine. My only major complaint is that there is no volume control and the music is odd, one song sounds like an asian rendition of I'm a Barbie Girl which is kind of odd. I think next time we would spring for the more expensive option.

December 30, 2014
I bought it for my eight year-old son for Christmas. Had to put it together some , but it was every easy to do. The only thing is the speed isn't ALL it said it would be maybe 10 mph ,and battery doesn't last long. My boy still loves it though.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY
March 23, 2013
this bike is really cute and easy to put together but my son rode it Christmas day and maybe five more times it just stopped working my son is eight and pretty big maybe weighs seventy five lbs and it is almost too small for him but I decided to keep anyway since it was suppose to hold up to a hundred and seventy lbs big mistake it didn't come with any warranty and now I don't know if I can do anything and my son is soooo dissappointed

I ordered this bike for my 5yro's b-day...he loved it and my husband and i even rode it. It's cool and fun to ride...after my lil 6yro brother rode it for about 20mins and layed it down it hasnt been rode since, it will run but back wheel will not go so i don't know what happened with that and i had to fax a copy of delivery slip in order to receive a new wheel:( THE MOST HORRIBLE AND WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A SHIPPING COMPANY BY THE NAME OF CEVA - WHICH I WILL NEVER EVER USE AGAIN AND IF A SELLER USES THIS COMPANY THEN I WILL NOT ORDER PRODUCTS NO MATTER HOW BAD I WANT IT DUE TO CEVA THEY SUCK BIG TIME...I WAS GIVEN RUN AROUND FOR 3DAYS BY 3DIFFERENT LOCATIONS WHICH NONE OF WHOM KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON AT ALL!!!!! Fun for kids 8-18. Back tire gears wear FAST.
May 18, 2009
My son enjoys riding this dirt bike.He got it for christmas, and rode it for about 1-2 months before it broke.Evidently, the back wheel has the gears built inside. When they go, the only way to repair it (since it's all welded shut) is to buy another back wheel. ($37) The new wheel was easy to put on, only took 10 mins.Maybe the last wheel was defective. I will update later if this new wheel goes quickly.
Broken and missing pieces due to hole in shipping box.
July 27, 2007
My Son researched this item and paid for it with his own money, only to be let down when it arrived. What a terrible way to ship a heavy item. I did call customer support and they were very helpful and are having the missing items shipped to me. Only part that I do not like about this part was that the parts are in stock, but it will take 7 to 10 days to receive these parts. I guess they are teaching my 10 year old patience. I received this MX500 on 7/27/07 and am writing this review on the same date.

Manufactured Defects
July 21, 2015
I ordered a MX500 for my son and received that purchase promptly and on time. During the assembly process I saw that there was some scratches on top of the forks. This discovery lead me to look over the bike better, and I discovered that there was a poor weld on the forks, its function was to just support the front break cable. I continued looking over the bike and once I put the handle bars on I saw that the cross bar on the handle bars was at a angle. The handle bars cross bar has a 4 inch gap on one side and a 3 inch gap on the other side, making the bike look lopsided. These discoveries were manufactured problems. I called RAZOR and they said that they could send me a new fork and handle bar assembly and then can back and said that because there was a weld defect that I should contact Amazon and look into there return policy. That is my next step.
Fun for kids, but breaks and costly/timely to repair
September 26, 2011
It is a great like bike for kids to have fun riding.Unfortunately there is a defect with the rear wheel assembly. Recently our 2nd wheel broke where it will only freewheels (spins) and won't engage to drive the wheel. Unlike a bicycle, they don't sell the center hub (broken part), but only the whole assembly. Very wasteful of both money and material resources to only sell this entire piece.

May 20, 2011
Was very disappointed that a part on the tire/chain broke immediately & we needed to wait for a replacement part. This is an ongoing defect with these bikes that needs to be corrected BEFORE they sell them.

Not worth the cost due to poor design.
October 17, 2017
Only the rear left tire is driven by the motor. This causes the trike to push/turn right and can cause the kid to crash and even fall off. The 2 x AA battery compartment for the lights and sounds is behind the bolt that holds the front wheel assembly to the body of the trike. This makes it extremely difficult to change the batteries. There are no rear lights and the front headlight is so dim it's barely noticeable.
DONT BUY THIS
May 19, 2017
Directions are very hard to understand. It's a serious pain in the a$$ to put together. Why am I putting it together in the first place. It took my 10 minutes to find the port to plug it in. When I finally did find it it moves making it difficult to work. I sincerely wish I hadn't bought this piece of junk..I wish there was a zero star rating.

Cheap Electric Toy
November 11, 2011
Hi...maybe we were UNLUCKY!! But the first Razor Motorcycle we got from Amazon had broken gears. We would give it some 'gas' and the rear sprocket would just spin, as if the gears were not engaging with the sprocket/chain. So we returned that first bike, and Amazon sent us a new one at no charge (which was great). Unfotunately the SECOND bike wasn't much better. The battery on the second bike didn't hold a charge. We followed the directions for how to charge it initially, which we did, but now the yellow like on the throttle always shows "lit" meaning that it needs a charge, eventhough we had it on the chareger for several hours. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY...IT'S NOT WORTH IT.
Razor mx500 quit running after two weeks
October 15, 2011
I purchased the Razor MX500 for my grandson's birthday. The bike arrived on September 21, 2011. The bike was 90% assembled out of the box and it only took about 30 minutes to complete the handlebar and wheel assemble. I then charged the bike's batteries and presented it to my grandson on September 23, 2011. Jackson loved the bike but after only two weeks of use it quit running. We went through all the troubleshooting techniques listed in the manual and online but it still wouldn't run. We called Razor directly and they said a part was bad and they are going to send us a new part. The bike only comes with a 90 day warranty (very short for an item that cost $340) so it's important to get it fixed right away. Very disappointed the electric dirt bike didn't hold up longer but I guess we'll find out how good Razor's service and warranty department are. Jury's still out on this product but I'm starting to feel like I've wasted my money on this product.
Piece of junk
August 30, 2011
Bought this for my 10 yr. old. He loved it UNTIL only 8 weeks later it completely broke down. Took it to a bike/scooter shop and even they couldn't fix it. Listen to all the reviews - I took a chance thinking "Mine will last longer.". No luck. What a waste of money. Do not buy one unless you get a full warranty for at least a year. Will never buy Razor again.
Rear wheel is a problem
March 18, 2011
We bought this for our 10 year old son for Christmas and it has already broken after riding it a dozen or so times. My son only weighs 75 pounds and he rode it on the street and on grass. Now the back gear is stripped and the rear wheel will not move. I wish I had read the reviews by others about the rear wheel problem. This is a very common problem and yet Razor will not replace it once you are out of the 90 day warranty period. The rear wheel costs $50 to replace, so if you buy this product plan on replacing the rear wheel assembly.
