GREAT value - stop buying expensive test strips!
August 17, 2016
Arrived quickly. Package contained everything it said it would - am truly surprised at the value for the low price I paid. Meter and strips work GREAT. I'm so glad I saw this. I have been paying $1 per strip (up to $100) for Accu-Check Smartview (for Nano meter) because insurance would not cover them. I'm planning on buying the boxes of 50 and 100 test strips by Bayer for the Contour Next meter since they are HALF the price of the Accu-Chek ones.
Works great, simple to use

Works great, simple to use, doesn't hurt. Comes with everything you need to get started. Added a photo that shows what comes in box.
Affordable meter, affordable strips and accurate readings!
March 31, 2015
Very easy to use. Test strips are probably one of the better priced ones on the market....easy to order from Amazon. Bayer is a great company, covers the meter for 5 years and provides free batteries and a great meter case if you register your product.
Nice little easy-to-use system that anyone can use.
March 28, 2015
Very easy to use. Am on a new diet and needed to understand how my blood sugar levels were responding to it. This is an easy test system. The needle that punctures your skin to draw blood is adjustable, so you can set it very shallowly. You hardly feel a thing and it a few seconds, you don't even remember you have pricked yourself. Comes with a good instruction book. A little repetitive, but informative.
Thank you, Bayer. This monitor is a DREAM to use!
March 14, 2015
I want everyone to know how incredibly LUCKY you are to have this meter and lancet device. I have not had to test in 18 years, back when I had gestational diabetes. I am now testing again after menopause. This is night and day relative to what I used to use -- this thing is a dream. The monitor is small and easy to use. The lancet device is SO MUCH BETTER. Even on the "large blood drop" setting (ie, the "poker" for your finger is adjustable to various depths) where you extract more blood, you can barely feel it...and yet, when you wait a moment after using it, enough blood comes out of the tiny little hole to make the test work. My old lancet device used to hurt -- A LOT -- all day long. It left holes all over my hands. This won't do that. The other remark that I would make is that the instructions for this device are very clearly written. Sometimes with these types of devices, you get so frustrated trying to figure them out. Bayer must have devoted quite a bit of time to ensue that the user manual is clearly written. This is not some manual that was written in China. I didn't have to go and reread anything -- just opened it up and within 10 minutes, after perusing the booklet, did my first test. I don't have a life-and-death situation to monitor, so it is important to consider my situation if you do (ie, people for whom this device is a lifesaver might have other thoughts). But, for someone who is using it just to watch the sugar now and then, it is a piece of cake. One tip: the only problem I did have was when I used my test strips. The first test I did gave me a number outside of the valid test strip range. I had not done a gentle shake of the testing solution prior to using, which the manual says is necessary. I redid the test after gently shaking the bottle and it came out fine.

It works and it comes with everything you need

I am not diabetic but rather someone who is health conscious. I like to check my blood sugar occasionally just like I check my blood pressure occasionally. This is a great kit and came with everything I needed to get started. It seems accurate enough I have used it throughout the day to see how my body reacts to certain foods and how long it takes my blood sugar levels to return to normal after eating. I also use it to check my fasting blood sugar in the mornings periodically.

This blood glucose measuring kit is awesome I bought it because I have a risk of developing diabetes so I have used it and it's easy to operate and a cool thing about it is it memorize the result of every test you make with the time and date so the next time you need to go to vist your doctor just take it with you and your doctor will find the test results that you have made since your last visit I LOVE IT
Excetonally accurate meter
November 4, 2016
I bought a couple of these meters at different times to replace our OneTouch Ultra minis - mainly due to the high cost of the OneTouch test strips. I use this meter every morning to get my fasting blood sugar as does my spouse. The strips are so inexpensive that I tested multiple fingers (every day) for the first few weeks. I track my readings and chart them in MyMedical which gives me a 3 month average - which SHOULD correlate to my A1C. I've been doing this for over 2 years and the OneTouch never correlated to my A1C (which I check every 2-3 months via lab tests). The OneTouch Ultra was always low and even though that made me feel good - it was wildly inaccurate. I tried different OneTouch meters, new strips - nothing helped. These Bayer meters always read higher than my OneTouch (I tested them side-by-side for a few weeks) by 10-20 points. However, using this meter I was able to predict my A1C to 0.1 because they're so much more accurate than the OneTouch ever was. My doctor was amazed since he's never seen a patient able to accurately predict their A1C.My methodology is to test every morning and if a reading is abnormally low or high then I retest another finger. I've done this a dozen times and every single time, even using different batches of test strips, the readings are always within 1 point of each other or the exact same reading. The repeatability of this small cheap meter is exceptional as my OneTouch meters never were repeatable to within even 10 points. This is as scientific as I can get - or at least enough to convince me that this is a very good meter and it's dirt cheap at that. Unfortunately according to this meter (and my lab tests)I need to make more progress in lowering my A1C and I thought I was there (using the OneTouch meter). :-(Would have though that chocolate covered almonds aren't good for your sugar levels - aren't almonds good for you? :-)
An inspiration to cut down on sugar
March 21, 2016
Once you read the instructions, it's actually very easy to take your blood glucose measurement. I don't have diabetes but my doctor said I might be pre-diabetic so I thought it would be useful to take some readings of my fasting and post-prandial (after meal) sugar levels. So far they seem to be a little higher, but not in diabetic range. In a way, this tool is acting as an inspiration to cut down on sugar to keep my levels in line and reduce the chances of diabetes later. Comes with everything you need to do like 100 tests.
A Convenient Test Kit.
November 10, 2015
I really like this portability of this kit. It has almost everything I needed included with it. I got really accurate readings and it was so easy to use. I also enjoyed the small travel bag which conveniently holds all the different supplies one needs to test on the go. All I needed to add was some alcohol wipes and a container for the sharps.I do recommend picking up more of the test drops because the one included in this kit is really small. I find that it really helps to use the drops every so often just to make sure the machine is giving accurate readings. This is a small portable kit so you will need to replace the supplies as you go through it. How long the supplies last depends on how often you test. I tested my blood 6 to 8 times a day, so I knew I would need to order refills with a couple of weeks.I think the price is really good considering the quality and portability of this kit.
Fantastic blood test meter
April 26, 2015
Nice kit, includes the meter which is made in Japan and appears to have good quality. It's simple and easy to use.Test strips are the cheapest at around 25 cents if you buy in bulk. I was previously using the one touch ultra 2, nice meteras well but test strips range from $1-1.37 which is outrageous plus you needed a twice the amount of blood and if you did notit would throw an error and the strip had to be thrown out.Bayer test strips actually draws the blood into the strip and only a small amount is needed plus it scans it multiple times and takes the average.I have not had a bad strip yet or any errors.Included nylon bag is simple, nothing fancy.Microlet 2 lancet device is simple to use with the bonus to eject the lancet without handing it.I registered the meter through Bayer to get the 5 year warranty plus a upgraded zip back for free and free batteries for life.I'd have to say this is the best meter so far for being accurate and simple to use, it certainly is the most reasonable.

Small, lightweight, and easy to take along with you.
November 21, 2016
I purchased this as a way to monitor my glucose during my pregnancy for precautionary measures. For a someone that is not familiar with testing glucose or using a monitor, I will state from experience this unit is easy to use, lightweight, comes with a small zipper bag to allow for easy portability and storage. If you are looking for an easy to read screen then this monitor has it. The read outs are displayed in extra large numbers and it provides a memory function as well. The instructions are easy to understand and follow.

It took too long to get the monitor and strips but the monitor seems to work quite well. It does not report results the same way as my previous monitor though I might be mistaken. From the instructions this unit will measure about 10% higher. If that is the case then both machines are very close. The strips for this machine cost far less.
Great buy!
August 2, 2015
I bought this item for my grandpa who is not diabetic, but his doctors hadn't been checking his glucose levels and he loves sweets! So I figured for under $10, we could prick our fingers and make sure we were within normal range. The little device works well and isn't too confusing. It came with 10 strips and pokers (the needle-like thing you prick your finger with?) and it all stores nicely in a little zipper pouch.
A few test strips would have been nice
July 13, 2015
Easy to use. I would have given it 5 stars had they included some test strips. Why include needles and no strips? Anyway, I like being able to periodically check my blood sugar since diabetes is rampant in my family.
Easy to use. Good meter. Bad carrying case.
February 19, 2013
Meters are meters, right? If you are diabetic and need a glucometer, you'll find this one to be easy to use and portable. I bought two so I could keep one at work and one in my backpack. I also use the higher-end Bayer that will send results to my insulin pump. I was careful to find units that all use the same test strips. The Bayer system is easy to use and relatively error-free. It requires very small amounts of blood in sampling, and quickly (5-seconds) provides results. My only complaint with the system is that Bayer sucks at making carrying cases. Sure, the meter fits in its little plastic holder, but inserting and removing canisters of test strips is a major pain. The elastic loop is too small and is twisted, making insertion of the canister nearly impossible without three hands. As I don't have three hands...

In all, this is a very affordable meter that performs well. I just wish Bayer would put some more effort into the storage case, because in the end, you use the case as much as you use the meter. At 3-6 times a day, that is a lot of potential irritation with a design.

Good product
August 5, 2017
Works well. I like that it comes with a coding solution to make sure that the reading is accurate. I tested twice one morning, got 102 then 107. Compared with the one from CVS it read 102. The one from walgreen's read 130. Since I've got all three, I line them up and use them all to compare. So far, the one from CVS has been very close to the Bayer tester.
Great meter, terrible computer software for Mac's
April 30, 2017
Easy to use, seems accurate. However, if you want to use the available Glucofacts software to download your stored results on a Mac, don't bother. I spent an additional $18 for a USB cable directly from Bayer, and never got it to work. The cable drivers are only for Windows. So I love the meter, but would have probably bought one that interfaces easier with my Mac had I known it wouldn't work.
Great kit, with only one small issue
February 27, 2017
I'm familiar with hospital testing equipment due to my career, but this meter is the first for me. I wanted to follow my blood sugars, after three A1c's were consistently a hair away from being pre-diabetic. I'm managing my diet, trying to move the numbers into a healthier zone. What I was immediately impressed with is how simple this kit is to operate. Within a few minutes, I had run a solution control test (right in the middle of the range), plus my own stick. My result was actually right where I would have anticipated it to be.I had no problems with the lancing device. Truth told, first stick, I held my breath. I had experienced my workplace lancer and I swear, that one felt like driving a ten penny nail into my finger. I was relieved when I hit the trigger and could hardly feel this stick (and NO finger soreness afterwards), but I had lessened the depth of strike which is a great adjustment, too. I was also pleased that very little blood is required.Overall, I'm very pleased with this kit. It has everything you need to get started. Those new to testing need not be intimidated. It's about as simple as it can get.My only complaint is that on arrival I had an almost dead battery icon. I was afraid it wouldn't even make it through the second morning of testing. So, I was off to purchase new batteries. And, the lithium batteries aren't cheap, adding to the initial cost of the kit. For this reason only, I deducted one star, simply because of the immediate inconvenience.
Convenient kit for blood glucose monitoring
November 26, 2016
The Bayer Contour Next EZ is a convenient way to monitor glucose blood levels and is one of the higher rated by Consumer Reports. It appears to be accurate for trending, however, when tested informally for repeatability it gave 97, 102, 98, so one should not be too alarmed if an unexpected reading occurs, simply take a 2nd. The display is easy to read, however, during set up it is easy to misread the "month/day" versus "day.month" setting as it is so small. The main difference between the Contour Next EZ and the Contour Next appears to be that the EZ does not have a fasting selection, only "before" and "after" meals which should not be an issue as before meals in the a.m. is the usually the same as fasting. The kit as received was all Bayer marked items except the "lancets" which were Active 1st, but fit the Bayer lancing device which has multiple lance depth settings. Bayer sold the rights to this product to Panasonic earlier in 2016 and it will be marketed in the future under the name "Ascensia", not Panasonic. The free Glucofacts software download is a convenient way to track readings over periods of time and can be adjusted to divide the day into 3 or more segments, however printouts could use a larger type font. Use of the software requires a cable which can be purchased on Amazon, the one listed on the company website is not currently available. Overall, this is a great product and was marked 4 stars rather than 5 because it has less capability than the Contour Next.
Good meter, incompatible lancing device
November 23, 2016
Overall, a good reliable product that works well and is easy to use. One drawback is the lancing device. The lancing device that comes with it is different from the Bayer Microlet lancing device shown in the picture and in the instruction manual. It is manufactured by Active 1st, not by Bayer. It works fine, but the Bayer Microlet or Microlet 2 lancets will not fit in it; they have a ridge on the end that makes them just barely too big. I have not been able to buy replacement lancets that will fit it. When you use up the initial 100 lancets that come with the package, you will have to buy a Bsayer Microlet or Microlet 2 lancing device (about $5 on Amazon) in order to use the Bayer Microlet lancets, which are the only ones that I can find in a store or pharmacy or on Amazon..
Ok, but . . . .
April 18, 2015
This test kit is ok, but the lancet device is not the one pictured, and it is next to worthless. Also, the carrying case is too small for all the stuff needed to test regularly. On the plus side, the meter is accurate. I've had to order my favorite lancet device and carrying case from One Touch, which is what Bayer should have included in their kit.Update - The lancet device is better than I first thought, but carrying case is very poor for a company like Bayer. Giving one more star.

If you have diabetes, this is not the meter for you.
May 28, 2017
I do not have diabetes and am not required to check my glucose level. However, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes 3 years ago. I started dieting and walking and 3 months later, my doctor said there was no sign of diabetes and my cholesterol had also improved. But I like to check my glucose level at least once a week to make sure everything is on track. I was also a fan of the True Result meter, it gave such low readings. But it was recalled because it was inaccurate. I replaced it with the Bayer Contour Next EZ. I read all the reviews about the readings being high so I used the last of my True Result strips and tested with both meters for a week. The Bayer was always higher than True Result. The readings over 7 days range from a difference of 19 points to 32 points. For me, the good news is that even the highest reading was still within the normal range. But if I had diabetes, I would not be happy with these results and I would probably not trust either meter.
Subtract 20, add 2.... Subtract 20, add 2.... Subtract 20, add 2.... Subtract 20, add 2.... Subtract 20, add 2.... Etc
April 3, 2017
Thise seems to be a semi-competent meter BUT relative to a meter which was calibrated against medical lab tests, it registers a fairly consistent 18 points higher at the low end of its range, which is the end of the rage which is important to me.

I have reactive hypoglycemia, and can easily see spontaneous rapid blood sugar drops into the 30's and 40's or below. So having a meter tell you your blood sugar is 70 when it's really 50 isn't a great thing.

I had formerly used a "TrueResult" meter which was great... it aligned perfectly every time it was checked against lab blood draws... like, zero variance, which was amazing. And it was consistent... successive tests on the same blood drop were within 2 points. But the company which made it evidently figured out they could make more money selling sucky inaccurate ones, so now they sell "TrueBalance"... feel free to check out the huge number of 1-star results on that from dangerous inaccuracy and inconsistency.

Indeed, there are a LOT of meters now which are dangerously innaccurate... like, see my review of the Verio IQ.

Accuracy and consistency are two things you really need if you're seriously testing. If a meter isn't consistent - that is, if it gives wildly different readings from the same blood drop, like MANY now do, it's trash and shouldn't be used.

This meter seems, per my testing, to be relatively accurate... reasonable consistency with multiple tests on the same blood drop... but as I say, an average of 18 points too high. So while I have bought as many TrueTest strips as I can find on Ebay, I will seemingly be moving to this one when they are gone forever. And thus begins my regimen... subtract 20, add 2, every reading from then on.

update: I registered it online, once, and the company sent me FIVE purple nylon carrying cases in separate envelopes. Not sure what I'll do with the other four, and the cases aren't that impressive, but I guess they're hoping to make up in quantity what they lack in quality?

I don't think this brand name meter kit is better than the really cheap versions at Walmart and such
July 24, 2017
After talking with my doctor, I don't think this brand name meter kit is better than the really cheap versions at Walmart and such. Go for the cheap ones. The strips are proprietary to the meter. I think it is time to standardize on the strips since they are no longer covered by most insurance plans. They should be made as inexpensively as possible.
The meter and test strips are quite easy to use
June 16, 2017
As another or others have noted, this package includes lancets and a lancet spring device. The lancets (available separately, too, in various sizes) are too large for the spring device. After a few chuckles, I packed the spring device away. I just poke my finger with the lancet. The meter and test strips are quite easy to use.
Lancets not compatible
June 10, 2017
Lancets are not compatible with lancing device. I have been using them without the device which probably hurts more than necessary. I'll have to find another lancing device or buy new lancets. :(

February 5, 2017
I have been testing my blood glucose several times a day to help with Insulin Resistance for health and weight loss. This method combined with Intermittent Fasting of 16-20ish hours has helped me to lose about 12 pounds. This meter has been 10-15 points lower than my other meter, Relion Prime. I tried them at same time and get this issue every time. I guess i should take both to my dr, and find out which one is right. My goal is to have readings under 100. I was getting in the 120's, but if I fast, i can get it down to 106 and under. That doesn't sound very good, but I'm thrilled that I have some control without using meds. Oh, and doing low carb, moderate fat, moderate protein.
Included lancet/lancing device doesn't seem effective enough.
January 20, 2017
The provided lancing device and lancets weren't able to bring up a usable drop of blood. After ~10 attempts on my finger tips, sides of finger tips, and even forarm (All on the highest setting), the best I could get from the lacets / lancing device was a tiny little amount of blood. Just enough to make the area around the puncture red.I haven't been able to get enough blood to actually use a test strip. I think I'll end up buying a separate lancing device.

September 11, 2016
Battery was not low at arrival. <-- This was my mistake.Reseated the batteries and checked with the control solution again. This time, 128mg/L. It is within the spec limit. After checking the user guide, I found it is +/-20% with level 2 solution (>=75mg/dL). The test strip shows the range of 109 to 136mg/dL for the level 2 solution so the center is 122.5. 122.5 +/- 20% gives 98 to 147. All of my previous tests are within the spec limit. I didn't know the test variation was this wide. There was nothing wrong with the product. It was made this way. This one may be OK for checking average over time.

Lost confidence in its accuracy
October 3, 2017
Was really looking forward to using this to monitor my blood sugar as I am starting to see "pre-diabetic" tendency showing up on blood work as I get older. However, sometimes I was shocked by the number and so I would take a second reading immediately after the first one and that second reading would be even higher. So I lost confidence. I called the manufacturer and they said it was "normal" but how could it be when I used the same drop of blood both times and within 30 seconds of each other.
Easy to use, poor support and questionable reliability.
August 17, 2015
Fist time user of a glucose monitor. I purchased this because it had high ratings in consumer report. I'm a little frustrated with four things. Where is the USB cable that i am supposed to be able to download my tests to my PC? Not only is it not included, I can't seem to be able to find it or order it from Bayer! The monitor is supposed to be able to allow you to add more blood if the first sample was insufficient, the feature is called second chance. By the time I saw that my monitor was reporting L-3, it was too late to add more blood. Test strip wasted. I tried to reach online help in a chat, but their web site is screwed up. No one ever responded to my questions. Where is the app or download that is supposed to enable the user to track their readings? Just to test the repeatablility of device I tested my blood two consecutive times, one was 8 more than the other! Which one is correct?

Not so accurate
July 3, 2014
Bought this in December 2013 and liked the sturdy feel of the monitor and lower cost of test strips. Noticed that the readings from this unit were slightly higher (about 5-10 units) than the brand it replaced, but didn't think too much of it as my glucose readings were jumping around a bit in the morning. In June 2014, had some lab work done and my fasting glucose was taken twice over a two-week period. On both days, the official lab readings were much lower than the reading obtained on this monitor just 5 minutes earlier. One reading was off by 10 units and the 2nd reading was higher by 18 units on this monitor. The unit seems to be OK up to about 80, but is then overly-sensitive and comes back with a reading that is proportionally higher, as your actual reading hits 90, 100, etc., adding up to 18 units at least in my case.

Tested it the last two days against a novaMAX monitor, which was tested and consistent with my 2nd lab result, and the Bayer Contour Next was 18 units and 13 units higher, respectively. It has caused a lot of unneeded stress over the last six months with all of the higher daily readings!

April 25, 2017
I ordered this meter to replace an old meter that I could no longer receive strips for. I noticed immediately that my readings were a good bit higher than my old meter - at least 30-40 points! I talked to the pharmacist, who said that was definitely a problem. I did a control test and it was within range. I thought maybe my old meter had gone bad (or the strips) and my blood sugar was getting much worse! I decided to invest in another well-known brand and my readings were back as expected. My A1C also confirmed that my blood sugars had NOT gotten much worse. I read other posts about readings being off and should have listened, I guess...I did like the price of the kit, though.
Not a happy camper.
March 9, 2017
My kit was incomplete. The Solution is missing. The testing I have done are incredibly high for someone who is not diabetic. Fasting readings have ranged from 142 to 107 but I can't test the meter. Not a happy camper.
Sloppy to details, poorly written manual, too confusing and complex. But the machine reads blood levels, presumably accurately.
December 20, 2016
I assume the readings are accurate. Whoopee. It works. What I don't like: the instruction manual is atrociously written. Trust an engineer to make it complicated and confusing instead of concise and clear. Bayer should hire someone from Apple to show them how to do it right. To wit: it's a 61 page booklet to basically say, "lance your finger, get a drop of blood on a strip, and look at the reading.' Moreover, the instruction of 'Oh by the way, you need to calibrate the machine before using it' is written on page 20, long after such information is needed. That wasted 4 strips and a couple of punctures on my finger. The mechanical gadget that holds the lancet is poorly designed - in that when you trigger it, nothing happens. No lancing of my finger. Maybe it's the wrong length lancette that was put in the box. Maybe it's poorly designed too, and I'm inserting it wrong, but how many ways can you stick one piece of plastic in to another piece of plastic? Bottom line: quality control is poor, whether as to wrong lancettes being included, or simply a stupid design for the lancette gun that had too sloppy tolerances. The directions for other gee whiz features on the gadget leave me befuddled. I'm not a techno geek. I don't like wasting time trying to decipher and memorize '1 button push for this, and 2 for that, except when you want something else accomplished.' More unnecessary confusion and complexity by engineers. Nothing is intuitive. Again, hire Apple.

Bayer to Merge with Monsanto

As you will be aware of, Bayer and Monsanto want to merge into an even bigger agro-chemical and seed giant. Throughout the world there is a lot of protest to this concentration of power, from farmers’ organisations, NGOs and concerned citizens. To get the green light for the merger, the antitrust authorities in some 30 countries have to approve it. The request to the EU is expected to be filed by Bayer sometime this month."

I want nothing to do with Bayer products.
get another meter
April 17, 2015
Bayer should get out of this business. My first one was often showing 20+ mg/ml over another reliable (ie, tested against lab) device (and more expensive meter aka onetouch). Called their support line and they were very helpful and walked me through testing the unit and ended up sending me a replacement unit. The replacement unit is only slightly better in that it shows 10+ mg/ml over other meter matching lab results.

Ended up throwing both in the trash (batteries removed first) and going with a cheaper (made in the USA) TRUEResult unit instead.

Amazon was nice enough to refund the full amount, thank you!
Not pleased at all.

I don't know if I got a faulty monitor or what, but almost everytime I use it I get an error stating that I didn't give a large enough drop of blood. I suspect it's because the lancet isn't pricking my finger hard enough. I have it set to get the largest drop of blood but it's just not working. In the first two days I used all of the lancets & strips that came with the machine & I only got one good reading. I had to squeeze my finger so hard to get the blood to come out & now my finger is super sore. I read lots of great reviews but unfortunately I didn't have the same experience. I think I'm gonna have to send it back sadly. It's upsetting because I purchased additional lancets & strips to go with this particular monitor. I'm very disappointed & cannot recommend this glucose monitor based on my poor experience.
Not Accurate
February 5, 2015
I'm pre-diabetic and am controlling my blood sugar through diet. What I've discovered is that glucose readings differ widely between brands. I think one has to just find a meter that is suitable for one's individual body chemistry.

The Bayer Contour next EZ is the most inaccurate meter I've used. It reads 10-20% higher than my other two meters. It also gives impossible readings, such as showing that my blood sugar is LOWER after I eat than before I've eaten!

The next time I go to the doctor, I will bring all three meters to calibrate them against the doctor's lab test results.

The Contour next EZ just doesn't work for my body chemistry, but it is a nice meter - it's more solidly built than my Accu-Check and the strips are thicker and easier to handle. It just doesn't accurately measure my blood sugar.

It didn't work out of the box. Called tech support and they wanted me to return the entire unit back to Amazon and then they would send me another one however with less items in the box. I got frustrated and ordered another brand.
Faulty Device
February 19, 2017
I must have had a faulty device. I went through at least 10 attempts (at different times in the day) and kept getting an error message. Fortunately I was able to return it.
Defective on arrival and unable to use.

Unit nicely packaged and complete. Defective on arrival. Unit indicated test strip improperly installed, however, I am an experienced user and the strip was inserted exactly to included instructions. Multiple test strips from multiple containers attempted without success. Removed batteries and reinserted to reset, same results.
REALLY HORRIBLE!!

REALLY horrible~! I never WAS able to get a read on my Mom with this!!! Thank goodness I was able to find more wheels for her Breeze on here. Tiny drop with Breeze reads just fine. No matter how much blood this stupid thing always gave error message.
Lancets not compatible with lance...

It says it's complete out of the box. I received lancets that were the wrong gauge for the lancer, so it is not "complete out of the box". I am rather frustrated by this negligence.
All Over the Board
October 6, 2015
I bought TWO of these, one for work, one for at home. I have a Precision Xtra but the strips are very expensive compared to these and I wanted something cheaper as I experiment with how various foods/meals effect my blood sugar. For the record, I am not a diabetic, I do not have diabetes. I am however in ketosis (keto dieting - high fat, very low carb) and I am by my blood measurements and breath measures currently in a state of ketosis. I have been for about 8 weeks now. These Contour NEXT meters read all over the board with the calibrating solution and with my blood. Each draw is a different reading on both meters. I did a comparison using the same finger prick at almost the same time and there was a 24 point difference between the two pulls. I hit the same prick twice with two different test strips on the NEXT and it was a 8 point difference between pricks.I did the calibration thing last night with their solution. The first calibration was well outside of the spec by 12 points. I did a second as per the manual's direction and it was 12 points lower and in spec. The spec is a range too!?!? It's not +/-10 points, it's 25 point range.Frustrated with this I did a similar test with the unit I had at work. Same results. I checked my blood sugar twice on the same prick and it was 9 points different and 10 points difference. I do not have these inconsistencies with the Precision Xtra. Perhaps I'm ignorant to blood sugar testing but I'm not exactly sure how diabetics rely on these devices with such inaccurate accuracy.
