It shuts itself off and about a minute later I hear a beep and it's on again. It appears to have its own defensive mechansm when it thinks its overheating. I'm hoping it doesn't continue. Some things placed in middle don't seem to warm evenly. Annoying that clear button and start button are so far apart but that is my personal preference. I called the number on the User manual and spoke with a person who was not able to help me. I kept calling back and didn't get any help at all. I would never recommend this particular product. So, I have to be careful placing and removing items from the tray, I still love this microwave.Update: I purchased this on 07 Feb. 2014. It stopped working yesterday.
