carbonated water + this = better than cough drop solution to a sore throat!
May 3, 2014
Note: I am not a doctor, just another guy that thinks a cold is the end of the world.I fill a soda stream water bottle with heavily carbonated water. Mix in 4 drops (Very strong) and shake.Perfect for the night stand when you don't want to sleep with cough drops or even all day at the office. Cooling effect from the oil soothes while the carbonation helps clear the mucus.Smells good in a humidifier, I plan to try this instead of camphor the next time we have a sick baby. CAREFUL! experiment with small amounts before making it TOO strong. I effectively cleared out the house by using too much.I would prefer a dropper to the flow control device, but after some practice it isn't too bad.I look forward to trying this as a massage oil (diluted of course!)
Great mice repellant
March 16, 2014
Great price....the local stores that carry it..want more money for 1 ounce of this stuff. I was trapping 4 or 5 mice every few weeks in my camper while it was parked, mouse droppings in the drawers, on the floor, in the tub/shower...dead bloated floating mice in the toilet. I had to clean and sanitize every drawer before unpacking our utensils and putting them in there. I had to replace part of our pex water line that a mouse chewed through. I got tired of all that, I read that peppermint oil worked...so I thought I would give it a try. I took a plastic zip lock bag, put a small amount of water in it...then about two table spoons of this stuff...and a handful of cotton balls and shook it up. When I park my camper...I throw 2 cotton balls in the storage area under the camper..one under the sink, and then one in each corner of the camper....I dare you to find a mouse dropping anywhere in my camper. I have even put traps in there over the winter and haven't caught a single mouse. It works.
Such a good price for rodent deturant
March 6, 2014
I was spending $10 an ounce for pure peppermint oil at Whole Foods. Last year, I spent $400 on pest control. This is such a good buy. We used it to keep rats and mice out of our walls and ceiling during an invasion due to a broken water main. YES, peppermint oil does the job. We ended up having to actually trap the little critters in the basement, but the sound of scratching and munching in our walls was gone as soon as they got a wiff of the oil. Peppermint disrupts their ability to smell and follow a trail through the dark so they stay away. I used a small sprayer and cotton balls or tissue stuffed into cracks to disperse the scent.
Bats
June 1, 2013
We had a serious infestation of bats for three years running. We tried everything to get them out of our attic but nothing worked until I learned about peppermint oil. After cleaning their mess AGAIN, i mixed about a quart of strong peppermint oil and water in early spring (before the bat's mating season) and used my son's supersoaker squirt gun to apply the mixture to the rafters and crossbraces in our attic. We have no bats in the attic this year. I do notice that the scent evaporates in about 3 or 4 days and needs to be reapplied, (I am now experimenting mixing with mineral oil instead of water) but that is not a problem when compared to having as many as 100 to 150 bats in the attic. We still have bats flying in the yard at night, but that is fine as they consume an incredible volume of insects. I will say that I first tried an electronic pest repeller, but it was not particularly effective since the bats seemed to grow accustomed to the ultrasonic signal, but when combined with the peppermint oil our bats are living outside.
Keeps bugs,ants & mosquitoes away
May 25, 2012
This is the second purchase I am making of this product. I sprayed a diluted solution around my basement, garage, windows and door entrances and has so far kept ants away. Usually around spring time my house becomes an ant battle ground for the past few years. Now I only spot an occasional ant. I'm glad I tried this instead of toxic chemicals or other expensive solutions. This was safe for my kids and cost effective. I plan to use it all summer, it appears that a good spraying will last approximately a month in effectiveness. I also at the spur of the moment decided to spray it around our outdoor light which always collects bugs and mosquitoes when left on and it becomes a hassle when getting in the house. Now there are no mosquitoes around, only moths which I guess don't seem to mind the peppermint. Great product, 100% recommend it for bug control, you won't be disappointed.
Nothing short of a MIRACLE for rodent control...
April 12, 2011
Living in New York City is a dream, but along with that dreams come a few harsh realities. Rodents are one of those realities. Almost all of us here have battled, or are currently engaged in combat with, a thriving rodent population trying to gnaw their way into our homes and businesses.Being a transplant, and having not grown up dealing with rodents in my Maryland suburban house, I was a man unaccustomed to dealing with them. It doesn't help that I've always had a healthy phobia of rodents, though admittedly years, and experience, have done much to dull that fear. So there is nothing at all normal, or natural, to me about sharing my space with a four legged population that wants to squat in my overpriced abode, without offering nary a cent to offset rent!I've dealt with "seasonal" mice for the last four years I've been in this apartment, a first floor unit in a Brooklyn brownstone. I only saw them the summer, and occasionally during the winter time after a bad snow. Though you never have just one mouse in your house, hitherto I'd only seen one mouse at a time, and frankly the lack of diversity made it easy to delude one's self that you were indeed dealing with just one mouse. However this past winter, plagued with back to back winter storms, the flood gates were cracked wide open. Not only did we have our usual "one mouse", my wife and I started to see variety in their appearances. Further more, to our disgust and horror, we saw our very first bonafide rat in the apartment. That was a true "oh hell no" moment for me, I refuse to live under these conditions, or subject my wife to them, and I set out to find a swift solution. After much research, and keeping at least the mice in control with a great d-CON 00027 Ultra Set Covered Mouse Trap, I found out about the wonders of peppermint oil.Rodents can not abide 100% peppermint oil (that's oil, not extract, and it must be 100%). Since they primarily guide themselves olfactorily, the oil is almost poison for them, and I've read it literally burns their nostrils. I bought oil right here on Amazon, and promptly got to work. It is a very potent oil, and so a couple drops on well placed cotton balls are all you really need. Set them in key entry places, or known high traffic areas for the critters, around your home and it's the perfect repellant. For additional coverage, which we needed, mix about a tablespoon of oil for every 1 to 1.5 cups of water, and spray where necessary. Smells great, and works like a dream. Since laying it down I've not seen a single rodent, despite our kitchen not being nearly as clean as it should be, and none of the traps have gone off. It had gotten so bad that we could hear those awful high pitched squeals nightly, often in what sounded like blood-combat; I later learned that mice and rats don't share space well, and the larger rodents are likely to attack the smaller ones. However now, thank God, save once when we heard something trying to come up from the basement unit, only to promptly turn right back around, nothing.Bottom line. It works. Do not waste any more time, energy, and emotion worrying about your mice and rats, terrified to even go into your own kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Take control of the situation, and do it in a way that is safe, clean, and has the added benefit of making your house smell like Christmas year round.UPDATE: In the four months or so since we started applying the peppermint oil, we have trapped only two mice. And those mice arrived only because we got so use to not dealing with any rodents that we forgot to refresh the oil. Once the oil was refreshed, we've not seen or trapped one since.

Good product but it did give me acid reflux flare ...

Good product but it did give me acid reflux flare ups and I had to cut back taking them to a few times a week.
My gut likes these--yours might, too
December 3, 2016
My gut likes these. I have food sensitivities, so if I accidentally get dosed with gluten or dairy, I pop an extra one of these and it helps ease the discomfort. Otherwise I just take one morning and night with a probiotic.
I like it
October 12, 2016
I was having some tummy issues. This has helped me a lot. I only take one or two every time my tummy is upset. This really works.
But then a friend of mine got on IBGuard recommended by her doctor
September 27, 2016
I have IBS diarrhea that is a daily issue. Over the years I have tried many probiotics trying to find one that would help relieve this. Nothing was working. My father several years ago had told me he had a friend who dealt with IBS also & he swore by these Tummy Tamers. I was skeptical & didn't want to try. But then a friend of mine got on IBGuard recommended by her doctor. She said they worked great. I didn't want to spend $30 to try them, and since the Tummy Tamers are very similar I decided to try them instead since it was only $10 for a bottle. I started with 1 pill a day & after taking it for 1-2wks I have had complete relief from my diarrhea. This is a miracle pill and it's all natural!
Worked when nothing else would.
May 4, 2016
WARNING: (from personal experience)DO NOT take these pills less than 50mins after eatingDO NOT eat anything (anything at all!!) for at least 20-30 mins after taking the pillBecause when I do, I get terrible peppermint burps and it just makes me feel not so great. So don't do that.Review:I have always had digestive issues, farts, diarrhea, constipation, cramps, you name it. I've tried different diets and probiotics, yogurts.. But theses pills really do the trick for me. It's just kind of inconvenient that I have to make sure to eat them on an empty stomach 20 minutes before eating.. But the effects are so worth it! I barely fart for a day after I take one of these and as a result suffer from less cramps. There is an improvement I think, but my poops are still not perfect. Not that I'm asking for perfection. So all in all, pretty amazing.EDIT:After taking them regularly (2-3 times a day) for a few weeks, my gut seems to have RESET ITSELF!? I have stopped taking them for a few months now and I now only have minor issues when I eat something bad or diary products (I'm lactose sensitive). It's no longer a constant thing!! Literally magical. I still take it now and then but only when I get really bad gas from eating diary stuff.ANOTHER use I found for them is sometimes when my nose is really congested (allergies or sickness) I'll pop one open and smell the oil inside or put a little under my nose (honestly it kind of burns but in a good way). Clears up my sinuses like nothing else does!! And I've tried sprays, pills, you name it. Even the regular peppermint essential oil doesn't do it as well. When my acne flares up I put some on there with my toner AND IT ALSO HELPS.AMAZING PURCHASE. AMAZING.
Love - Love - Love
July 6, 2014
I cannot live without this product! I've used it for years and I will never be without it! I have had IBS issues all my life and this is the only product that settled the tummy rumblies. If you have a reflux problem, you may taste peppermint for a little while after taking a pill, but it goes away. If you have medication for reflux or GERD, take it first and this will help. The peppermint taste has never stopped me from taking it!

... keeping spiders away because I had heard they don't like peppermint oil
April 2, 2017
God this in hopes of keeping spiders away because I had heard they don't like peppermint oil. Didn't really work, saw just as many spiders. But I realize that this oil has a lot more purposes than that, so I don't want to say it's bad. We have wolf spiders where I live, so maybe it's good on other kinds of spiders, I dunno. I really don't get how anyone could say this was good for that, because it didn't work at all. Worth a shot though.
Freshen up a room with just a drop or two
February 27, 2016
A tiny bit goes a long way. Quality peppermint oil to keep the room smelling fresh and to keep away pests like bugs and mice. A little on a cotton ball goes a long way, freshens up the stale smell of the house in winter. No cons about the actual product, except I am not that crazy about the cap, it doesn't fit on entirely that well and it is easy spills, which for a smell as strong as this peppermint, that is a hassle to clean up and the smell lingers. But overall, the scent of the peppermint lasts longer than others and it is priced well.
Nice in the summer, and ants hate it
October 1, 2015
Well it smells like, Peppermint! Smells nice in the summer.Put it in a diffuser in the kitchen to ward off ants. They definitely hate peppermint. Maybe I was staring at ants too long, but I think it just makes them pass out, and they'll avoid 'minted' areas like the plague, and the avoided area gets bigger as time goes on.So I just wipe up the ants off my counter, and turn on the diffuser with mint. The ants come back greatly diminished, or hardly at all.
NOW Foods Peppermint Oil, 1 ounce bottle.
May 12, 2015
I really like the NOW products. I bought 4 herbs, 3 from NOW. This peppermint one was the last tor arrive out of all of them. But smells like it should and good price.I wish NOW had squeeze droppers instead of the hole in the cap, but I am glad for the nice price. The 4th from a different brand, not sure I can say the brand-name but the herb I bought was Thyme and it did not smell like the plant as these NOW brands do. I won't be buying the other brand in the future but will buy from NOW even if it is on this herb more expensive.
The jury is still out, but not all of the rats
September 3, 2013
We own a small farm in Santa Barbara. Since the Tea Fire and the Jesusita Fire we have experience an unusual increase in rats and mice. I have read that peppermint oil can be a "pleasant" repellent. I was hesitant until I found dropping in the engine compartmants of two classic cars we own. Panick set in and bought this to test. I used both straight oil on cotton pads placed in small plastic sauce containers (the kind you can get ketchup in at stands) and placed these in the engine compartments. I then mixed some oil according to recipt in previous revious of about 4 tsp per quart of water. This was placed in a spray bottle and sprayed into know areas of habitat and pathways. The results: thus far we have not found any dropping in the car engine compartments but can still hear some movement in the attic and rafters. Perhaps it takes time fully benefit from the fumes but everything sure smell good. I would recommend trying it.
Wonderful for my asthma & allergies!
June 10, 2012
I use this oil in many ways, but the most beneficial for me, is in my oil burners. My asthma & allergies often make breathing difficult. Nothing helps as much as burning this oil. For a cold, or sinus infection, I add a dropper full to a kettle of boiling water & breathe it in. Instant relief!Dilute some of this oil in light olive, or almond oil & rub it on inside of your lips for nausea. Add a few drops of it & some sea salt or demerara sugar to some light olive oil & use for an energizing body scrub. Especially good for regenerating sore, tired feet.I give it only 4 stars, because it's more economical to buy the 16 oz. size.

Seems to work?
July 30, 2015
My wife has Celiac's disease. She pops one of these before we go out or eat a meal that we've been assured is "gluten free". It's hard to be certain if such a prophylaxis as this is working, but she seems to have fewer problems except when there is severe cross-contamination evident since she's started taking these.
So far so good
February 13, 2015
I received this and a complimenting product 3 days ago, I am already seeing improvement in my IBD-D. No anti-diarrheal meds for 3 days, fewer mad dashes to the restroom, only downside is the aftertaste, not exactly unpleasant but will take some getting used to. I hope I continue to see improvement and will repost in a couple of weeks as to the long term pros and cons.
Works Well in Some Instances
January 22, 2015
I have IBS, and get major attacks where my lower back and stomach are in terrible pain for days on end. The ONLY thing that has ever helped is a heating pad, back and forth on lower back and abdomen. These work well when I am having only a mild attack, but unfortunately do not help when having bad episodes. My GI doctor recently recommend taking these ALL the time, instead of just when I am having episodes, to see if that helps (although we have to wait until after the colonoscopy to start this regimen).
Works well for gas and bloating
August 18, 2014
I have found this to be a great product if you suffer from bloating especially as relates to irritable bowel syndrome. It will leave a minty taste in your mouth. I wish I could just remember to take them before dinner. I don't always remember to take it.

Questionable essential oil content
October 1, 2015
Product is alright, does seem to help a little with dermatitis on my scalp, but I am concerned about now products and how much actual essential oils is in them. I would like to see more test done, because some of the test that I have seen already ranks now products very low in actual essential oil content. I would rather pay more to get actual essential oil content. If I find out anything differently than I will their review their products again.
Not effective in eradicating mice.
December 6, 2014
I got this when I had a mouse problem in my apartment, because I read it was a natural remedy to keep them away. The result? An apartment that smelled like candy canes, with mice. The quality of the oil itself is fine, which is why I gave it 3 stars, but for my purposes it was a no-go.
I RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY OF PRODUCTS HAVE GOTTEN MORE THAN ONE I CANCELLED THIS ONE DUE TO ALLERGIES AND SINUS ISSUES
November 17, 2014
Honestly I had cancelled this order and they had already mailed it so when i got it back they issued me a refund. I cancelled it because i had read the smell was pretty strong I have allergies and sinus issues. So, i cancelled it I had ordered another NOW PRODUCT with no issues but it was not pure oil i love peppermint but afraid of the strong smell for me. Seller was very nice enjoy their products they have great prices too!
It smells different.
July 14, 2014
I'm not sure if it's because I decided to buy this brand because I'd get more for then an ounce for about the same price. This smells of peppermint but there's something back behind it, and I'm not sure what the smell is. It just smells sickly sweet.I'm not sure if it's because I got the 4 once bottle or not.I'm gonna use it in a melting pot regardless, but I think i shall keep buying from Edens Garden.I have never smelled something that was faintly this sweet.
DID NOT WORK FOR ME
January 6, 2013
I found out that I have a mouse (or mice) in my house about 3 weeks ago when my **front declawed** cat became intently interested in the area under my stove. Upon listening, I could hear some moving around. I live alone, so it's up to me to take care of the problem. Needless to say, I'm a nervous wreck about it!! The mouse (mice) have now moved into my pantry and are munching away on various food items. I have 3 traps in there (the "no touch, no see, kills them instantly" type), which so far have failed. Why should the mouse go for the food in the trap when they have an entire pantry full of food to snack on??!! My cat is acting like she is detecting something in various other areas of the house as well, and now I fear that they are in my walls. So far (knock on wood) I have not seen or heard any other signs of mice in other than the kitchen area, but the way my cat is acting they may be around. I've lived in my house for 13 years and as far as I know I haven't had a mouse problem before now. I've actually caught a glimpse of the little varmint in my pantry, and it's droppings can be seen as well (very unsanitary, I know!!).I researched the internet and saw where it said that 100% peppermint oil was supposed to work wonders against mice. I went to my local health food store and bought a small bottle. The smell is very strong (to say the least), and I have been putting a couple of drops on cotton balls and placing them in various areas around the house. I've also mixed a few drops with water in a spray bottle and have sprayed in various areas that the cat seems interested in. The sprayed smell is lighter and less intrusive than using the undiluted oil, although likely less effective. I don't know if the peppermint oil is driving away other mice, but it seems to have no effect on the resident(s) in my pantry. I purchased a couple more bottles of peppermint oil from Amazon and intend to keep up with it all winter in hopes that it will drive them away. I desperately want them gone, but was hoping to do so in a reasonably humane manner. I don't want to resort to old fashioned snap traps or glue traps, but I need it (them) out of my pantry so that I can get in there and clean it out and mouseproof it!! The fear of it jumping out at me or scurrying across the floor terrifies me. I have occasionally seen a mouse outside during the summer months, and I'll do everything I can to keep them away from my house from now on. I have 4 of the "wall plug in" repellants and I assumed they were working before now, but apparently not!UPDATE: With the help of a friend, I finally found the courage to start cleaning out the pantry. We basically had to throw away 80% of everything due to the horrible amount of droppings, musty smell, and various chewed items. They even chewed into a box of organic chicken broth! We were on the final shelf when we encountered THEM! One got away and ran under the stove (despite having a towel blocking the entrance to prevent it, didn't work!). The other one suffered an unfortunate fate, compliments of my friend. They had outwitted 3 snap traps by stealing the peanut butter without setting it off (yes, they were set properly). I finally resorted to the glue traps and caught one last night. Very ugly, but effective. I honestly hope it was the one that originally ran under the stove, but I realize it may have been yet another one. As stated earlier, I know that they are just following their natural instincts and therefore I wanted to act as humanely as possible, but I have witnessed their destruction and dirtiness first hand so I had to do what I had to do. I've actually seen them now (not just a quick glimpse) and they still scare me so much and I fear there may still be more. Long story short (too late!), the peppermint oil did not work for me at all, but I wish success for anyone else who may try it.

Nothing Special...Gave Me Hiccups
October 13, 2017
This stuff was just okay. I've had IBS for most of my life, so I always get a little excited when I find something that claims to be able to minimize the symptoms. I followed the directions on the bottle, and even when taking them on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, the peppermint oil always rose up my esophagus. Not the end of the world and not painful, but there was no real way to keep it from happening. Also, I noticed that if I took them consistently at all, I would constantly have hiccups. On top of it all, I saw no improvement of my symptoms whatsoever. So, I wouldn't say anything negative or discourage people from giving these a try, but they did nothing for me.
Hasn't helped me
September 2, 2017
Unfortunately, this did not help my tummy problems at all. Thus far, there is no change, and I have been taking them twice per day. If I belch, I get a peppermint taste in my mouth which is not unpleasant at all. It just hasn't "tamed" any of my issues.

Good for tummy not so good for heartburn
October 6, 2015
The works as expected. I really like Heathers Tummy care products. The only problem I have is that I have acid reflex disease with Barretts and this product sometimes gives me discomfort with that but otherwise works great. Sort of feels like you swallowed hot lava but it also has a cooling feeling like menthol. Also gives you very bad indigestion burps for several hours afterwards.

not strong enough
August 22, 2015
You cant use this on your skin and not strong enough for me.I got this because I wanted to use it on my forehead (to avoid frowning and therefore wrinkles). So I am annoyed with myself because I didn't realize you couldn't use this on your skin. Plus the scent is not as strong as I would have liked it to be.
Confused?
November 30, 2014
I ordered this under the impression it was therapeutic grade, but on the bottle it says it is suggested for aromatherapy. I am confused as to whether it is therapeutic grade, or for aromatherapy only. Definitely recommend doing some research on the product before purchasing
DILUTED Not 100% Pure
May 6, 2014
Despite whatever claims are made about this product being 100% pure, they are false. I grew up using peppermint oil and this is NOT pure what so ever. I have to use far more of this diluted product to get the same results, making the good price of this oil useless. Note: I use peppermint oil for natural health remedies by applying it to the skin and combining it with other oils and products. I recommend doterra, they are more expensive but worth it.
Peppermint Oil
October 29, 2013
This was not properly packaged and I could smell the product as I took it from the delivery man's hands, before even opening the box. The padded envelope was not sealed properly and the cap was loosened, so half the contents had spilled out onto the invoice, box and engulfed my home with the strong scent of peppermint. It was overwhelming. I had to bag it up and take it outside, then wash everything it touched. When I went online to try and get a replacement - it said I could not submit one for this product. The other bottle that came with was properly packaged and sealed and did not leak - just this one. Big disappointment and waste of money.I do not plan on ordering from this seller again because of this experience.
Only reviewing it as a roach repellant
August 28, 2013
I don't know what other uses people use peppermint oil for but I used it for the purpose of roach repelling. I hate to report that it didn't work. After using it for several weeks we still see the occasional roach in the garage. Perhaps I'm being to harsh? I don't know, but after bathing my garage floor with this stuff I expected to not see any roaches.

I really don't want to rate it this low, but I just could not handle the smell or taste. I'm not sure if it's the addition of fennel or ginger or what. Had high hopes for this product, as I have IBS gas symptoms, however, after 2 days, I could not tolerate this product. It seemed to help somewhat with creating a calming effect and might improve gas symptoms, but I felt slightly nauseus / headachy after taking it and burped A LOT even though I took on empty stomach. Disappointed. Worth a try though, and the company guarantees a refund if not satisfied which is nice.
High hopes, but no relief

I bought these because of the good reviews, but little more than a placebo. I get more relief sucking on peppermint hard candy. However I finally got fed up and went on the FodMap diet after wasting about 10 days waiting for these to help to no avail and finally getting relief. Forget the snake oil and do something that has some science behind it and stop eating irritants to your system

I buy this product at Sprouts Market and the scent is very strong, when I ordered this product from Amazon, the product is very weak and the smell is not the same as the one I normally purchase at Sprouts. I use it on my diffuser, but it even smells different. I will not order it again.

Yuck! There is a quick whiff of peppermint when you first open the bottle, and then after that it fades to a scent that reminds me of rotten peppermint. Thankfully this is not a lingering scent. Call me picky, but when I buy peppermint oil, I expect it to have an almost overwhelmingly strong peppermint scent, and I expect it to last a LONG time. Please avoid this product, unless you feel like testing your luck.
THIS IS NOT A GOOD PRODUCT

The one I received at first it has an excellent potent peppermint smell, however in about 2 minutes you don't smell peppermint anymore you smell mildew. We all know what mildew smells like.I contacted the seller, the guy said it's suppose to smell musky, I said what, musky, NO This is MILDEW!even so, peppermint oil is not suppose to smell musky at all.I would never purchase from them again.Maybe I got a bad batch but I wouldn't risk it.
3rd bottle I've purchased was horrible!

The first two 4 ounce bottles I bought from Amazon were wonderful. The last one I purchased in November '12 had a rancid smell to it. I compared it side by side with the little remaining in the bottle I purchased previously. NOT EVEN CLOSE!NOW told me "we haven't had any other complaints, send it back to Amazon" I'll be looking for another brand.

Very small pea sized pills that taste like chemical oil and smells like peppermint (not bad taste) ...
October 14, 2017
Never did anything for my ibs, but it may work for other people...they seem light, so I feel they wouldn't. I want something strong to stop the pain and gas. Very small pea sized pills that taste like chemical oil and smells like peppermint (not bad taste) just did nothing for me.

Made my stomach bloat worse
Hurt digestive track
September 19, 2017
Seemed to work great at first but then made my stomach extremely acidic and painful and had to take antacids for a week to clear/repair... disappointing because I had high hopes for this product. My guess is that it kills everything in your digestive system (all the good bacteria, too) and was just highly irritating.
