MICROWAVE MONSTER MICROWAVE.
October 20, 2015
WHAT A GREAT DEVICE!!!!!! I'VE MICROWAVED EVERYTHING I CAN GET MY HANDS ON. I DON'T DO PETS OR SMALL ANIMALS (I'LL BET I COULD THOUGH). RECEIVED IT A DAY AHEAD OF TIME. IT'S BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE THE 1250 watts OF RAW ENERGY. THIS IS THE GREATEST. MY OLD MW GAVE OUT COMPLETELY (11 YEARS OLD). AT DEATH IT WAS GIVING ABOUT 600 watts. IT TOOK 8 MINUTES TO WARM COFFEE. THIS BEAST DOES IT IN 2 MINUTES - MAN IS IT HOT! I AM VERY HAPPY I PURCHASED THIS MW IT'S LIKE DRIVING IN A VOLKSWAGEN IN THE MORNING, AND A 1200 HP FUNNY CAR IN THE AFTERNOON. HOLD ON TIGHT!!!
A Great Microwave
July 30, 2015
I just got it and I'm very happy with it. Very easy to use, quiet and very nice looking. I was also scared about the doors breaking, so I bought an Amazon 3-year warranty for $14, which I believe that is a good investment with this microwave. Ha! the microwave I am replacing was a cheap old Goldstar that I had for 21 years ... seriously! (granted, it was in storage in the basement for 8 of those years).5/7/2016 update. The door/power mechanism has in fact broken, as everyone has stated. The power stops working like it is a bad power supply or a loose wire or loose power connection. It triggers when you shut or open the door or tap the oven. You can still get it to work by slamming the door, slapping the microwave on its side, etc. Time heals it more than anything. If it sits long enough, it will always come back on. What also helps more than anything is to open and close the door very gently to not knock the power off. So, I looked up my insurance that I bought and found that it only covers power surges. So, I called them up and told them that it had a power surge. And I'm thinking, how would you know it had a power surge? Anyway, it was no problem with them. They immediately issued the entire price refunded to my Amazon account. Very nice. So, now, I'm going to try the fix offered by an evaluator here.
This microwave is awesome. It doesn't take long to warm up anything
July 3, 2015
Wow! This microwave is awesome. It doesn't take long to warm up anything. Be careful though, it gets EVERYTHING HOT! I love the fact that I can warm up meat without it drying out or getting "rubbery". It gets things hot and quickly! I almost never have to put anything back in the microwave. I re-heat a lot of pasta dishes, and it usually takes no more than one minute to get it good and hot. You do have to kind of slam the door to close it, but no big deal there. The size is HUGE!! I haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure you could fit a good sized turkey in there. This microwave actually heats the food and not just your plate! The plates dont' get hot like they have with other microwaves, but the food certainly does! I bought this as a present for my parents, and I'm kinda jealous I didn't get one for myself. I can't wait for my microwave to die, so I can buy one of these for myself! lol True story.
I Like this One a Lot
March 10, 2015
I had had one of these that had the dial for the cooking time, etc. and really missed just being able to put in the time that I was wanting right from the beginning without spinning the dial back and forth because the time you wanted kept slipping by. You, also, couldn't necessarily put in specific times because it would start counting by 5's or 10's quite quickly. This new one with the number buttons alleviates those problems. The only thing I don't like, that I guess the bit more expensive one will do, is show the power bar when you are cooking. It's easy at first to press the buttons in the wrong order when wanting to use the power level settings, and if the power bar showed the level you were cooking at, you would know for sure if you punched it in right. Other than that, I'm easily living without it scrolling instructions and telling you to enjoy your meal.I like this machine a lot and would recommend it to friends and family.
Panasonic Makes the Best Microwaves, Just Don't Call Their Support
January 28, 2015
Well, I know I said I'd never get another Panasonic microwave after the last defective one, but after not being satisfied by the much smaller Samsung (which didn't actually sense the moisture although it said it did), we decided on this model. The defective NN-SE982S has a new dial that's touch sensitive, but for some in our house, including me, it didn't work well. But the real problem in the microwave we got was that the sensor wasn't working, so after a very unsatisfactory call to Panasonic support (they wanted us to bring the brand new microwave to a service center), we returned it to Amazon (kudos to Amazon) and bought the Samsung 1.4 cu. ft. The "Auto Cook" in the Samsung isn't automatic at all, it just uses preset times. And the foods heated hot on the outside and cold on the inside. So that got returned too, and we got this one because it has buttons instead of that dial. It's been working perfectly for the past two months, reheating everything completely and evenly. So Pansonic still makes the best microwaves, just hope you never have to call their support.
I Love It...So Far...But Make Sure You Buy The Extended Warranty
August 15, 2014
I've been using this for 1 month now and have to say that it is by far the best microwave oven I've ever used. It is not small in any way and nearly any size dish or pan you can buy that can go into a microwave will easily fit into this oven. It seems solidly built including the door mechanism which is a problem with every other Panasonic microwave I could find a review about. It is made of plastic but it feels good and tight...so far.As far as cooking goes this thing is amazing! It heats things very quickly just like most microwaves do. What makes this microwave so amazing is that it doesn't just cycle from 100% power to warm only to simulate a lower than 100% power level. When you set this oven to 50% power that is exactly what it runs at, all the time. You never hear it kicking on and off like every other microwave I've ever used The food does not start boiling all over and then stop and then boil and stop again. It makes a huge difference when you cook things. Chicken comes out of this microwave just like if you baked it in a conventional or convection oven (minus the brown look of course). It is not rubbery or all dried out on the edges or thin parts. It is delicious and gets done in a quarter of the time. Oh yeah, and I have yet to melt or warp a foam plate in this oven. The sensor reheat is probably my favorite feature of this oven. I make my own pasta sauce and learned many years ago not to reheat it in the microwave. They all dry it out by boiling the heck out of it on the outside edges while the sauce in the center of the dish was still ice cold. With this microwave, I put the sauce in a container, put a piece of Glad Wrap over the top, fold a little corner of the wrap back, put it in the oven, push the sensor reheat button, and push start. The oven figures out what heat setting to use and how long to heat it and it comes out perfect every time. The first time I tried it I sat 6 inches away from the door staring into the oven saying you better not ruin my sauce!!!...waiting and waiting for the sauce to start boiling to dry it all out and ruin it...but it NEVER did. After about 4 minutes it beeped and put on the countdown display the time it was still going to heat it and it came out of the oven perfectly and evenly hot throughout the entire container. I didn't even have to stir it. I was impressed. It also works the same way with everything I have reheated in it. Frozen dinners come out perfect without even setting a time or temperature, just peel back a corner of the wrap, push sensor reheat, and push start..when it beeps 5 times it's done.I have still not done a lot with the sensor cook setting but will be trying it out soon. Will update here when I do a few more things with it. The few things I've already done have been just as impressive as the sensor reheat function.I tried the popcorn button and ended up stopping the oven myself when I heard the popping stop. It might have been about to stop it itself but I wasn't up for ruining a bag of popcorn just to find out. Now when I make popcorn I set it on 1 minute 20 seconds on full power and it is perfect every time.I've used the cook and then keep warm function several times and it works just as advertised. You don't even have to go back and tell it to keep it warm after it cooks. You enter the cooking time and then tell it to keep it warm when it's done. I always tell it to keep it warm for 30 minutes even if I don't think it will take everything else I'm cooking to take that long. Even after 10 or 15 minutes of keeping it warm it hasn't cooked it death or dried it out, it really does stop cooking and just keep it warm.Anyone who has ever had a Sharp will appreciate how easy it is to set the clock on this oven. Push the clock button once, type in the time, push the clock button again and you're done. After having a piece of junk Sharp for a year and half I never did figure out exactly what to do to make it work. Did what the book said and always had to do it again and again before it worked. As hard as I've tried to think of something, I really can not find anything about this oven to complain about. So far I think it is absolutely perfect. After reading reviews about microwaves for several hours here and at other sites it became very clear that pretty much all microwaves are junk anymore (including Panasonic). I bought this one because I absolutely love the Panasonic shaver I bought and because this appears to be a new model from Panasonic. I couldn't find a single review anywhere. Hopefully they have fixed all the bugs in the earlier versions of this oven. We will see. I will update here with anything that goes wrong. I purchased the 4 year extended warranty with this because of all the horrible reviews that all microwaves get. If you buy this I would suggest you do the same. If you think you don't need to, read some more reviews.Update 10/30/2014I have now used the sensor cook feature a few times and while it does work it is not as predictable as the sensor reheat function. The sensor cook is made to cook foods that are around 8 ounces or less. I find it much easier to just cook it regular my self.I've used the turbo defrost several times and it also works perfectly. As long as you turn the meat over when it beeps nothing gets cooked, only thawed.A note about the sensor reheat function. Still my favorite part of this oven. The book says to use plastic wrap to cover and then vent the thing you are cooking. I've tried using a foam plate, still vented at the side, and some microwave safe covers also still vented at the side. The sensor reheat function does NOT work correctly with anything I've tried but plastic wrap. Covering it with anything else does boil the food you are trying to reheat.I have found myself almost never using this at 100% power unless I am boiling water, and I use it a lot. Most of time I am cooking at 50% power or less. Meat does best at 30-40%. I cover it with a thick glass cooking dish and it comes out as juicy as if you cook it in the oven. If you leave it uncovered it is still good but a lot of the meat juice cooks out onto the dish you are using.A handy shortcut that is not in the book that I discovered and use every day. To soften just enough butter for a few pieces of toast from a refrigerated stick of butter. Turn the stick of butter upside down (where you are going to open it facing the bottom of the microwave) and heat on 100% power for 15 seconds. As you use up the stick you can lay it on its side and heat. Once it is 75% or more used up you can leave it upright and only heat it for 10 seconds. If you leave it upright when it is a full stick, the softened part will be on the bottom. The door and everything else on this oven is still working perfectly, just like when it was new. It still closes with just an easy push and the latch still feels very sturdy and tight. The other reviews here that are talking about it worked great until the warranty ran out have to be about another oven. This oven has only been produced for about 5 months. It has a one year manufacturers warranty....if you people have this oven call Panasonic it IS still under warranty. None of these ovens can be out of warranty already, you must have some other oven. Not trying to pick a fight or anything but some of us rely on reviews to decide what to buy and if they are full of reviews for other products made by the same manufacturer, it becomes unhelpful. None of the reviewers that are saying this have the verified purchase statement on their review. I hate Norelco for the piece of junk shaver I bought but I don't think it productive to go post that review on everything they make......although it would probably make me feel better to do so.I will continue to update here. If anything goes wrong with this oven I will post it here immediately. I promise. And I'm into this oven for 4 years with the warranty.July 9, 2015Everything still working perfectly, including the door. Still love it!

Great quality compact microwave!
March 31, 2017
Very happy with this purchase and the speedy delivery. I was looking for a compact microwave that fit our space, was functional and didn't look tinny/plastic. Having owned a full size Panasonic microwave previously, which worked perfectly for 3 years, I decided to stick with the brand. At 0.8 cu this was as compact as Panasonic seem to go, and is marginally smaller than the product dimensions specified. For reference in the photos, my kitchen cut-out/space is around H 15.5 inches x W 22.5 inches x D 15 inches - and I have room left on my shelf in terms of height and width. It's a perfect-fit fit in terms of depth, allowing just enough room for the power cord at the back. Construction feels solid and overall this microwave meets all expectations. So glad that I didn't go with a cheaper, lower wattage unit - e.g. LG 0.7 cu compact or a Bella!
Roomy, big and does the job
September 11, 2016
I am really glad to have gotten this microwave. It is big enough for our needs, it is quiet and it does its job perfectly. We use it to cook and also defrost foods and, so far, we have not gotten a single problem. Since it has a lot more functionalities than our previous microwave, we keep the manual handy and, thus, it will take us some other time to exploit the microwave at a 100%. Nonetheless, I would buy this oven again.

We have had it for a few months. It works well, it is quite and it does not spark (unlike our previous one) if we use our plates with gold details. If you wonder, yes we are one of those family that uses fine china and crystals for every day use (life is too short to keep them for special occasions) and do not care to pop everything in the microwave and dishwasher. Also the defrost function works great.

I highly recommend this product
Works great, looks great, perfect size for us
February 29, 2016
I used to always get microwaves that were more than 1000 watts, but I found I was always using them on a lower power setting to get them to cook evenly. This time I thought I'd go for a little less than 1000 watts so I don't have to fiddle with power settings every time I use it.

I also wanted to get a slightly smaller microwave than the ones I've had in the past. We don't use a microwave all that often, so it doesn't make sense to have it take up so much counter space. This one fits our big plates and mixing bowls, so we wouldn't need anything bigger.

Lastly, I think it's a great looking appliance, and it matches our stainless steel fridge and stove very nicely.

LARGE MICROWAVE FOR A REALLY GOOD PRICE
September 30, 2016
We've had eight months heavy use from this. It's easy to clean, heats up well and can handle all-day usage with ease. Sometimes, the interior seems to overheat, so when we're heating up something, we do it in stages to avoid blowing the internal fuse or damaging the magnetron. We really love the defrost feature, which works amazingly well to reheat items slowly, also.
No hot spot on the edges of your meats!
February 26, 2016
Mind you we have only had this three months, but we love it. I usually notice the differences in appliances, and my wife goes along, but she is telling everyone how much she loves her microwave. We thought we really enjoyed our last one, but this one is really nice. My wife uses the sensor for everything. The having to push the button 6 or 7 times to tell it what modes you want seems cumbersome, but it is not all that bad when you get used to it. Ours rocks a little until I put a quarter under the left foot. The cooking is the most even cooking I have ever seen of the many microwaves I have used. No little hot spots on the edges like most of them. Thawing proves to be the same.
It's a microwave, and it works.
January 24, 2016
It's working, and is no better or worse than other microwaves I've used. The only feature I miss is the ability to add a minute at a time while food is cooking. Here you have to stop it and change the time or wait till the timer is finished and do a few more minutes. Not a huge problem though. The only odd thing I've noticed is that after I've cooked something, even if for just a few minutes, when I open the door I hear a whine/whistle for a minute that eventually goes away. Not sure if this is normal or not, but it doesn't see to affect anything.

May 21, 2015
As an upgrade of a 7 year old 1100 watt Panasonic microwave this works very well. The sensor reheat function gets a lot of use and I can shave off a minute on the typical time to heat things from the last one.Plenty of space in the oven, even large casserole dishes fit in this thing with no problem. It has been used for several months now and seems to be very reliable. Only minor complaint is that I wish the oven door or the oven itself weighed a bit more as with nothing in the oven it is difficult to get the door to latch unless you brace the oven.

Very pleased with quality. Perfect size
August 31, 2015
Very pleased. The size is perfect. Was afraid it might be too small, but the turntable is very large and fits my large size dinner plate just fine. It seems to be a higher quality microwave. Some of the other microwaves have doors that sound like a tin can when you open and close them. This door has a quality too it. I was expecting a better knob though...something like a stereo knob, this one is not smooth and feels cheap.
Overall, I really like it. The stainless look is very nice although fingerprints are a daily chore. The fan will continue to run for a minute or two after you remove an item, but this is normal. Various heating and defrosting options are all covered and easy to use.
What a Bummer!!!---UPDATE------
April 13, 2015
Bought mine just over a year ago. Up until today it worked fine. It stopped working, deader than a door nail. Now, do I go through the trouble of mailing it somewhere or try to find a local certified repair shop. I'll have to pay for labor (How much?). Labor could end up costing more than the initial purchase price. I'm pretty disappointed. It was working fine, then. Kaput.

UPDATE: I bit the bullet and took it apart (I'm a retired electronic tech and licensed electricial supervisor. Don't do it if you're not qualified.) and found a blown fuse. It's been running well ever since. All things considered, I'd buy another if the price was right.
Good unit, small and stylish, and quiet
December 30, 2014
For our needs, this microwave works great. It's small and compact, yet larger on the inside than you would think. We can easily fit whatever we need to heat up inside - we've never come across a plate or item that wouldn't fit. Using the knob for adding time takes a tad bit of getting used to, but once you do you can set times pretty quickly. This unit is quiet compared to our older microwave. As others mentioned, if the unit has run for an extended period (more than a minute or two), or if you run it two or more times consecutively, it will automatically run the fan for about 30 seconds afterwards. It's not a big deal, and is not loud.

If I had to give some constructive feedback - aka, how to earn 5 stars - it would be this:

- It would be helpful if you could add more time via the knob while the microwave was running. Turn the know more to add more time - that sort of thing.

- Add quick buttons for "30 seconds" and "10 seconds". There's one for "1 minute", where you can add a minute each time it's pushed.

Overall, very happy with the microwave. Still going strong.
i like it
August 14, 2013
+ MUCH quieter and lighter than our old small mw of similar size and power. i really like the inverter variable power tech - i rarely use high power when heating food, but low power settings on conventional mw still run on high part of the time -- this unit can warm food with less chance of overheating the outside or edges. a feature we had on a mw years ago let you set it to start cooking at one power level and then switch to another power level part way through. this one has the same ability - for example, you can start heating something on high, and then have it switch to a lower setting automatically to continue heating. a beep as it's running lets you know when it changes the power level. i've never used the extra program settings like reheat, defrost, etc.
- mostly minor negatives: what's the point of the pop out dial? just leave it out. and is there really no 'done' reminder? it just beeps as it shuts off and then displays the clock, no display or beeping reminder. i'll check the manual again and see if it's an option, but i don't think so. i also am not aware of a way to verify your power level once you've started cooking. the stainless steel gets smudges easily and it's not easy to shine it up again.
i've seen some comments about how this oven keeps running with the door open and people think they are getting microwaved! there is a small ventilation fan that continues to run sometimes (though more frequently than i would expect) after the oven stops. it is near the door opening and you can feel a slight breeze from it when you reach in the oven.

i can't comment on durability since we haven't had it for very long, but i consider panasonic to be a reliable brand based on my experience with other products of theirs.
Ideal small-footprint microwave
June 13, 2013
I was looking to replace a small and dependable Sharp Carousel microwave. My small galley kitchen is cramped, and I was having a hard time finding a replacement appliance to fit the same general countertop footprint. I came across this little unit and feel like I hit a home run. It's about the same size as my Carousel (just an inch wider), but packs 150 more watts of nuking power (950 vs. 800), is taller inside (now my plastic travel coffee mug fits!), is scary quiet in comparison, and includes some other nifty features like Inverter Technology, Stand Time and Delay Start timer modes, and a Keep Warm feature that are icing on the cake. Even little things like an LED display (the Carousel's LCD display wasn't lit and a real pain to see in low light) make a big difference.

If you're short on kitchen counter space, this microwave is the ticket,

Bigger than I'd expected. Luckily it fits in the built in space. Works well except when making rice. The window fogs up inside the glass. Previous microwave never did that. Also the button to open the door occasionally gets stuck but eventually releases. Otherwise it works fine.

Turns itself off randomly, hopefully the replacement will work ! I would think after 40 years they would have a clock that does not need setting after brief power outage !!!!!!!!!! Door has a lot of slop in it, pretty sure that this unit leaks microwaves !On the plus side I do like the inverter technology.
Not network-friendly
October 7, 2015

Pretty good unit for the price. My only complaints are that the door feels flimsy and that the beep to indicate that it is finished doing something is not very loud. Otherwise it works fine.

I have the product just over a month and it ...
April 16, 2017
I have the product just over a month and it broke. The dial used to set time or weight stopped working.

As stated above this product broke after 34 days. we all now anything mechanical can break but the aggravating, unacceptable part of the defect is that when you try to reach Panasonic it is nearly impossible because they don't want to talk to you. When you finally get a number, my experience was that they kept me on hold for 46 minutes before I finally hung up realizing that they were never going to pick up. I have purchased many products but have never been treated so shabbily by a company. I would not recommend buying any Panasonic product because of their terrible customer service. I also want to thank Amazon for interceding on my behalf to resolve this defective microwave.
Customers beware...Panasonic's customer service is an oxymoron as they have none.
Too hot and too many fingerprints
April 22, 2016
The oven has some good features, but it has overcooked food like frozen dinners. For 950 watts, it seems more powerful. We actually melted a plastic, microwave safe splatter cover right onto a plate! The stainless steel shows every fingerprint.
Fine for boiling a cup of water; defrost not so much
November 23, 2015
This is one of the best-looking small microwaves out there and, had I not used the commercial version (Panasonic NE-1022F Stainless 1000W 0.8 Cu. Ft. Commercial Microwave Oven) I'd not know the difference.
The dial on this thing is clunky and non-intuitive. And, while this microwave is very quiet in operation, it doesn't heat particularly fast or evenly, despite the carousel. Would not have know except that I heated something up in the commercial version and not only was it much faster but the defrost was mcuh more even despite the fact that I was using the version with a single turn-knob and no power settings.
On the other hand, if you use your microwave primarily for heating water, this should be fine.
Great - but short-lived; died after less than 18 months light use.
November 22, 2014
The current price of $195 + s/h from Electronics Warehouse Outlet is a rip-off. This exceeds the RRP. You can buy it much cheaper direct from Panasonic with free shipping. We had this microwave for 18 months (bought at Amazon for just less than $120), and loved it until it suddenly and inexplicably failed. We've had several microwaves, all have lasted much longer than this one. Would recommend for looks, ease of use, etc - but who cares, if it has such a short useful life? We could have been unlucky, but why risk it?
Not sure about the quality here.
June 21, 2014
I bought one of the new/used models that was supposed to be "like new," but it arrived with the door dislocated from its hinge and some metal facade pulling away. And even after I got the door to pop back into place, the button to open the door didn't work. No problem, though. Amazon's return policy makes this sort of gamble pretty worth it.

However, since I could see the potential for problems with the door and the metal decoration, I decided to opt for one without the metal look, and with a handle rather than a button.

I gave it 3 stars to try to stay neutral in the scoring process because I don't really know how it works since the door wouldn't work, nor how a brand new one would have arrived. Hope this still helps.

Regret Buying It
July 25, 2017
When I purchased this 13 months ago, I noticed the negative comments about the functionality of the door, and it's magical tendency to malfunction pretty much as soon as the warranty expired. But most of the comments were quite positive, and the price was right, so I gambled. I'm sure glad I bought the extended warranty.First, the door has been a problem with this model for years and years (check out the other reviews, even those that are positive). Panasonic knows that, yet they keep selling it without addressing the problem. That tells us a lot about how the view their customers, and their products. If they cared, or if we consumers forced the issue, they could have addressed the problem years ago.Second, almost on cue, once the one-year warranty expired it started malfunctioning. It only works sporadically, and while I can eventually coax it to function as it should, I shouldn't have to coax it. And this is not an appliance that gets heavy-duty use. Mainly, we use it warm stuff up. I would estimate that it is used an average of five minutes or less a day, so it's not like we're putting a heavy strain on it.I suppose the "glass half full" view is that when it worked, it worked well enough (except from the get-go the door was clunky and funky) - but we really don't ask it to do very much, just take stuff that's cold and make it hot.
Dramatic death two months out of warranty.
April 10, 2017
2 months out of warranty, a "pop", and smoke is coming out of it. Looks like a cheap capacitor on the power supply, but the noxious smoke has contaminated this too much to bother repairing.Looks like GE has a very similar product that is American made. What a pleasant surprise! Will give that unit a shot.

We loved this microwave while it worked. Bought it in June 2015, just died this morning. No lights, no LCD display. Thought it was the breaker, but that wasn't it. Have to take it 60 miles to a service center to see what they can do about it.
3 Month Wonder
December 15, 2015
We must have gotten a bad one. The microwave worked o.k., but after only a little over 3 months it up and quit on us. Looks like the wiring went awry, because the clock quit working and then it all went. We're going to give it to Viet Nam Veterans to fix and re-sell in their thrift store.

would not recommend if you can't even get a few years out ...

I would have given this 5 stars if it would have lasted at least 2 years....it stopped working today....lasted less than 2 years....would not recommend if you can't even get a few years out of it.
Won't be buying a Panasonic Microwave again.
August 23, 2016
This microwave lasted for 2 years and 5 months. Well outside the warranty period, but about 4 years short of the much cheaper one we had prior. It was great while it was working, and it had an efficient compact design. It also had an attractive exterior design. Burned on Panasonic Microwaves.
Made crackling noises and shut itself off frequently. Died after 1 year, 10 months of normal use
November 5, 2015
Worked perfectly for the first six months of its life. For the following year, the microwave would periodically emit a crackling noise upon starting up and would shut itself off after about 5 seconds. This would often happen 2-3 times in a row before the microwave would begin working properly. Seems like if it made it past the initial 5 seconds of crackling, it would then work perfectly for the duration of the cook cycle. Finally, after a year and ten months of use, the microwave finally stopped working entirely, displaying an H97 error code any time I attempt to use it.

Pros: Sleek, modern stainless steel look. Cooks quickly and evenly - when it works.

Cons: Didn't even last through two years of daily use, and apparently mine lasted a good deal longer than a lot of other reviewers' microwaves.
Can't Tell A Difference With the Inverter Technology
March 6, 2014
I have to admit that I'm a little baffled here. After using this microwave and the inverter turbo defrost technology, I really can't tell any difference whatsoever with the heating qualities of the food over the "on/off" system of regular microwaves. As a matter of fact, I actually prefer the on/off defrost of my Sharp microwave over this Panasonic Inverter. Most of the time with the Panasonic, I still get very hot food on the outside and cold food in the middle. It's so bad, that I no longer use the turbo defrost inverter opting instead to defrost by running periods of full power. This is much faster and heats the food much better, in my opinion.

I like the design. I like the mostly quiet operation, and the electronics are working fine so far (which has been a problem with my Sharp microwave). However, I am getting a "groaning" sound with the Panasonic on occasion as the carrousel turns the food. It can be really loud, but it's sporadic. I'm not sure what is causing it.

Overall, I have to admit that I've been disappointed. I was hoping for better results from this new technology. I believe it is mostly hype and a sales ploy rather than a useful feature.
Very disappointing
September 11, 2013
I bought this to replace a 20 year old, 600 watt microwave that worked intermittently and often required 15 minutes to heat a frozen dinner meant to cook in 5. I did a lot of research before purchasing and overall this seemed like a great product. But, despite that, I wish I'd have listened to the negative reviews.

One of the claims of this product is that it heats evenly and efficiently due to its "inverter technology." I do not find this to be the case at all. This microwave has very little power. It works no better than the old one I described above. I very often have to heat things 2 or 3 times longer than I should. The cooking is not very even-- the outer edges will be smoking hot, but the inside cold as ice.

It does seem like it heats better once it has "warmed up." That is, if I am microwaving two different frozen meals, it works more efficiently to heat the second one.

I also do not really like the dial setting. It is not that easy to select the right temperature. I'd much rather just punch in the numbers directly instead of fooling with turning the dial and having to adjust it to the exact time I want.

Panasonic has long been one of my favorite brands, but they have not delivered this time.

I bought this microwave in December 2014. By September 2015, it stopped microwaving; as in I would set the time and press start and nothing would happen. Panasonic asked me to take it to a local repair shop. Given the hassle involved, I thought I'd try my luck again and bought the same model again in September 2015. By November 2016, the same problem showed up.At this point, I am done with this microwave and any Panasonic products.Microwaves are not the cutting edge of technology; they should just work. It is unfortunate that Panasonic's quality has gone down this much.

If I could give this less than one star, I would. It functioned for 3 months and then completely died. While it functioned, it was odd and counter-intuitive. The timer was utterly useless. Panasonic was cold and uncaring when I approached them to replace the unit. Thank goodness for Amazon! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY this product!
Hooray for Amazon! Lousy service from Panasonic!!!!
February 4, 2016
Amazon was excellent in handling a problem. Panasonic was terrible. The unit stopped working in less than 30 days from my receiving it. Panasonic would not guarantee the problem since the 30 days had expired from the date ordered. I contacted Amazon, they were great and replaced the unit. The door on the unit does not line up properly but I can live with that.
Update, unit is dead, two weeks pass warranty
January 12, 2016
Update: Less than two weeks out of warranty and the unit is dead. No display, over light etc. I would not recommend this appliance.old review:There are quite a few features that I like about this appliance but there are a few things that are a bit annoying. The door latch takes quite a bit of noisy shoving to close which is a detriment while others are sleeping. There is no indication that you have properly set the "Keep Warm" or the "Power Levels" functions. The display is the same as if you do a normal 'Time Cooking" function. I guess I just have to trust that I am in those modes and that my food does not over cook. It is still a good microwave at reasonable price.
An Easy Fix for a Panasonic Design Defect!
June 20, 2015
Loved it, the best microwave I've ever had. However, as most, I was experiencing the dreaded door latch failure and was looking at Amazon to purchase a new/different model, thinking that a more expensive one might be better.I found out that it is indeed a design defect which affect ALL Panasonic models :-(The door latch mechanism with the microswitches is mounted onto flimsy, easily bent, very thin sheet metal tabs. After a while, these tabs will bend, and with them the entire door latch mechanism will move and be misaligned such that the hooks on the door will no longer activate the microswitches.Slamming the door might help for a while, but it actually contributes to more bending and more misalignment :-(Fortunately I found a fix on Youtube: [...]It takes about five minutes to fix (probably temporarily, as the sheet metal tabs might eventually bend out of alignment again):1- remove the cover (five screws on back, two on side), need special screw bit2- remove the door latch mechanism (two screws)3- bend the flimsy sheet metal tabs toward the microwave cavity (i.e. inwards) in order to re-align the door latch mechanism4- reassemble.Note that I also added two wires to support the door latch mechanism, one ties the top of the latch to a hole on the top of the microwave cavity, and the other ties the bottom of the latch to one of the circular vent holes at the bottom of the microwave. Now that the latch mechanism is all tied up, hopefully the sheet metal tabs won't bend as easily as before, or at least will take longer to get out of alignment.Works like a charm (at least for now), and much better than throwing a perfectly good microwave to the dumpster.

Piece of Crap Microwave!!
April 1, 2017
DO NOT BUY this microwave!!! it will fail. I stupidly bought this POS two times. The first time it lasted 3 months! The second time it lasted 4 months. I use a microwave a few times a day and expected this to last. Both times the clock started to glitch. Both times I reset the clock and both times it just went blank never to work again.
I don't recommend this at all!
January 28, 2017
This is a terrible product. The programmed cooking was poor - tried to cook one cup of oatmeal using the programmed setting for 1 C. and it said it would take 5 min! I thought that too long but gave it a try anyway. The bowl wasn't covered. It boiled out all over the oven. Tried setting it for 1/2 C and it said 3 min. If I hadn't been watching it and stopped it at 2 minutes it would have boiled over again. Re: defrosting - the little bell pings softly when you're supposed to stir or turn over the food, but the defrosting process doesn't stop. if you don't hear it or aren't standing over it, it keeps defrosting anyway. The auto defrost setting is inaccurate and you can't get around it by setting the timer and adjusting the power - worked once then not again. The stainless steel leaves finger marks wherever you touch the outside - always looks messy. Now the oven is working erratically. I wouldn't recommend this product at all.
Died in 4 months
April 27, 2014
Read some of these reviews on this item before purchase but the good reviews outwayed the bad ones so we decided to purchase this guy. After 4 months it completely shorted out and won't turn on now. What a terrible product. Please heed the negative reviews on this microwave and look to a different manufacturer for better quality product. Given how all of the negative reviews on here also talk about a frustrating and time consuming experience dealing with panasonic's repair services we've decided to just cut our losses now and buy a new one without going through the hassle of sending this in for repair. Ugh.
Poor quality - dead in less in less than 3 months
April 12, 2014
We are really disappointed that the quality of this little microwave is poor. It's the right size (it doesn't take up a lot of counter space), was powerful enough to reheat/cook what we needed and it's really nice looking. When it worked, it worked great. The first one we bought we returned because the power cord on the back wasn't well attached. If it got bumped it would shut the power off to the unit. The replacement unit did the same thing so we figured it was a design flaw and we could just live with it. We got the new unit in January. It's April and the unit just stopped working. At first I thought the power cord had gotten bumped. So I jiggled it and nothing. I then unplugged and replugged it in. That seemed to work. So I started to heat something up and it started but then stopped a few seconds into the time. I nursed it along like that so that I could finish getting dinner on the table but this was obviously not a good long term solution.
Amazon was great about refunding our money though. Now I need to go find a microwave that will last for more than a couple months.
broken after 1 year
February 24, 2014
First time it was broken within 6 months. Got it fixed - changed fuse. No charge because it was within warranty. But still lots of hassle - two weeks no microwave. After one year it was broken again! This time ordered fuse from panasonic parts website - 2$ each. Replaced fuse and it was working again.

If your microwave is broken, don't throw it out yet. Google for "fixing panasonic microwave" for youtube instructions. Likely it is the fuse. Replacing it was very easy but you need a special screw bit to unscrew the frame.
