Great purchase.
April 22, 2017
I bought these phones to replace and old set that was trying to die. And they're exactly what I wanted, at a very reasonable price. What else can I say? For those of us relics who still use a land line, I highly recommend this item.
Works Great

VTech is our "go to" phone system. Works and looks great. Can't go wrong.
This one is a keeper!
May 29, 2016
Spectacular little phone! The color is a deep, rich blue and I could even understand the instructions! I must add that today when I went to work at the job I've worked at for almost seven years (a very busy convenience store) I noticed that our phone on the counter outside the office, that is continuously in use, is a VTech too. I'd never paid attention to what kind it was before! That tells me that I've got a great, long lasting phone here because in all the years that myself and the other employees have used that phone it has NEVER given us any problems! Good selling point!
Update: I just ordered and received the ruby red phone for my granddaughter's 'vacation room' and she loves it!
Thanks VTech!

We just moved and needed new phones. These work very well, and the fact that only one of them needs to be hooked up to the phone modem is a real plus. Allows placement that otherwise would be difficult. They work well and the volume control is welcome to those of us that have a hearing issue.

After using these phones for 6 months, the only criticism I have is that 'New Voicemail" shows up in the window even when there is no new voicemail, and I have to go into the menu several layers to delete that message. The next time we get a voice mail it will show up again and stay there until I go into the menu to delete it again. Deleting the voicemail messages does not clear the announcement. Kind of frustrating.
I LOVE it- Meets every expectation I had

I LOVE it- Meets every expectation I had, and then some. !! The reception is crystal clear, and having the extra handset is a great asset. Takes no time at all to set up and charge, and the instruction pamphlet about all the features is every easy to understand..The buttons are large, and they light up when the receiver is picked up. Its light and very comfortable to handle, and the speaker option is marvelous to use. Would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone especially seniors and those who need a great phone that is easy to hold and handle!

September 18, 2017
I purchased the OBi200 to provide a dedicated phone for my home based office. I activated it with a Free Google Voice account and it works great.Once I linked up OBi to my Google account it took say 10 minutes to configure and allow me to make calls. It took a bit longer for the OBi to ring with incoming calls. I'm not sure if this was a Google or OBi issue. Regardless, within 30 minutes I was able to make and receive calls. The call quality is greatI do have a high speed 100+ Mbps download and 5+ Mbps upload internet connectionOBI allowed me to set a default area code to enable 7 digit dialing. This is great since Google Voice did not have a local number and I had to use a number from another state. By setting the area code to my local area code, I can dial just like calling from my cell phone or home phone. I'm starting to think I should have purchased the dual port OBi and eliminated my home phone. This unit does have a warning that it does not support emergency calls. I knew this when purchasing and is not a concern I have as I'm not using it as my main phone phone. I'm not sure if it supports 911 calls and just not capable of supporting location which makes sense with Google Voice as I live in one state and have an area code from another.Notes on using Google Voice:I do recommend turning off the pre-screen caller in Google voice to make it more transparent to the user that they are just calling a normal phone number. The voice mail to email works greatI'm still trying to configure voice mail to a text message in Google Voice, not an OBi issue
Works Great with Google Voice

I was getting tired of paying $40+ per month to AT&T for a "landline" (which was really a VoIP) so I tried to cancel my landline and let my mother use a cell phone. Man, what a mistake!! My mother is NOT tech savvy. She wanted her landline back, but the cell phone was only $10 per month on a family plan and I thought should be more convenient for her. Finally, after a month of trying to get her to use her cell phone, I gave up, but instead of ordering a landline from AT&T, I got the OBi200 and a free Google Voice number. I first set up the OBi200 on her Google Voice number and tested it--it worked fine! Then I ported her landline number from the cell phone to the Google Voice number (one time charge from Google of $20) and after about a day, the OBi200 was working exactly like a landline--my mother does not know the difference. She is using her landline phone on the OBi200 and getting and making calls on her landline number for free.I should have done this a long time ago!I don't recommend this for people who are not tech savvy--you have to know how to apply for a Google number, how to request a port (transfer), and how to plug this device into your Internet gateway/router. If you don't know how, get someone who does, but once it is set up, it works fine! My mother has not complained to me about anything and she thinks she is using a real landline telephone.
Would Highly Recommend!

This is 100% the best product I've bought, recently. As a young couple, my fiance and I don't have a lot of extra cash at our disposal. We don't have a cable subscription and recently our cell-phone service has been shotty in our condo. Instead of getting a landline through our cable company, we opted for this product and it was not a mistake! The service is super easy to set up, through Google Voice, and the sound quality is crystal clear. All of our family and friends can't believe we don't have a phone through a normal provider. The setup is extremely easy and well-described in the instructions as well as on the Obihai website. It walks you through the process of creating a phone number through Google Voice and then linking your account to your Obihai device. Because this device hooks right into your modem, you have no need to keep your computer on, like some competing products. I love it!
Bye Bye Phone Carriers
June 2, 2017
My new house had terrible signal for TMo and some part was completely dead zone. We were looking into options for landline as we thought we might need it as my first kid goes school soon. All the carrier services are expensive and I did not want to hooked up with any of their services and headaches I uses have with them. I looked in to VoIP and found this solution. Since I did not have any previous land line to port it was much easier to me to just get new phone number from Google Voice and set it up. I purchased Obi 200 and VTech CS6719-2 DECT 6.0 Phone with Caller ID/Call Waiting, Silver/Black with 2 Cordless Handsets and got it Same day. Complete set up starting from creating Google Voice number to actually make first call took around 45 mins. Setting and configuration was very straight forward and tutorial was very easy to follow. After all set up completed I actually had bit of issue to make the phone works as it could not make calls or receive calls for some time even there is no issue on both GV setting and OBItalk configuration. I tried to trouble shoot but after 10 min it started work without any changes and all worked fine ever since. My wife and mother in law loves it and call quality is beyond my expectation. I recommend this to anyone wants to get free from outrageous landline bills. Just keep in mind that You will need to know what you are doing when it comes to setup and it would be hard to port your old landline numbers.
Great and easy to set up
December 4, 2016
Received this a day early on a Sunday. Plugged into one of my Airport extremes and the other end into my wireless phone system's base. The Obtalk200 immediately and automatically prompted for the dedicated google voice account i had set up for this purpose) asking permission to allow it to be linked Obtitalk. The Obitalk basically then configured itself. It did ask me the local area code so I could do 7 digit dialing for my area code, so I did.I canceled my existing landline service from Verizon Fios which has gotten stupid expensive. Should have done this a long time ago.*** Make sure your buying a 200 series Obitalk I see Amazon is still selling the discontinued 100 series Obitalk these should not be purchased as their no longer supported or getting firmware updates. The reviewed obi 200 and the 202 are the current models. The 200 model supports multiple VOIP provider configurations and 1 Phone line while the 202 supports 2 Lines (regular pricing around $49 and around $69). Note the 200 model is tiny, only a 2.5 inches square, the 202 is around 4.5 inches square (both around an inch high).Note some of have complained that Obi tries to sell you an 2nd year extended warranty and or priority customer service $20 also additional phone features you may or may not need. At this juncture I did not bother with either. Google voice has all the features I need: Clear calls and the option of blocking inbound calls and many other features. That is all I need. I only use my land line phone for making conference calls when I work from home and when I need a clearer call then I can get from cell phone. ** I will say I have no problem with Obi offering extended warranty or additional functionality. They are providing a great device that works well without... Some will want or need these services and they help keep the company be around to support the hardware, develop new hardware, provide firmware updates and be around to support their products.I did scour the market as I always want the best options for my use case. This is really the best out there. Virtually every other product out there Ooma, Vonage, etc. not only costs more, but is locked into a single provider themselves for VOIP. Many of the others play games as well offering a low price on their monthly services only to raise it significantly after a month or year. Some other providers I read on line even make it almost impossible to cancel or modify service, Ooma in particular had many reviewers complaining about that Obi talk works with many providers including the completely free Google Voice. If you carefully read reviews and average star ratings there is no better option from a quality, reliability and price prospective.** This device has always paid for itself in 1 Month as I was paying over $40 a month extra to Verizon Fios **Tech Note:The only thing I was not automatically promoted to do was change the default Obitalk password. Changing default passwords on all internet connected devices is always good idea both for you and the world. You can find out your Obitalk IP address from dialing ***1 on your handstand of a connected phone. Then Enter the IP address in your Web browser which will allow you to configure the admin password which is admin,. You should change that.
Number One Solution to ditch your landline !!!
January 15, 2016
I work from home few days a week and I also need to attend a conference calls on a daily basis. Sometimes these are really long hours calls. In such situation traditional land line becomes much more convenient than a smart phone. So I needed a land line at home for sure but for that I was paying few extra bucks to a service provider for their service. Not anymore, thanks to Google voice + OBihai combination, that we never have to pay a single penny for using the landline at home.I did a lot of research on internet on how to ditch your landline and I found google voice + Obihai is the way to go. I bought OBi200 under $50 which I think is good for normal user who just need a landline. If you are planning to get an additional phone line or using second line as Fax line then OBi202 is a good choice for some additional cost.Setup of Obihai is very easy and gets done in few minutes. You need to have google voice account in place (if not, you can sign up using your gmail account). You also need to sign up for the Obihai account and register your device and a step by step wizard will integrate your google voice account with your obihai device. Once the setup is done, you are ready to make your free calls. You can download ObiOn app (available on iOS and Android) on your smartphone and you can make or receive your calls through Obihai endpoint.Do remember to turn off the call screening feature in Google voice, otherwise person calling you will hear an announcement to announce his/her name after the beep sound.

An absolutely great device coupled with FREE Google Voice!
September 1, 2017
An absolutely great device coupled with Google Voice. Just a little detour here and a note -- It's "free" telephony service from Google. It is FREE indeed but I use quotation marks because Google uses your "free" gmail, google drive and everything on it, including google voice related content for their advertising driven business (they have to make money and I get that). In this day and age if it's not Google using "your stuff", it's just about everyone else, including the G.O.V., listening to just about everything you say, post, yell and scream out there on the net or even in your living room.Speaking solely on Google Voice service, and features, coupled with this wonderful OBi202 (2 port) VoPi device, the combo is out of this world! Told my former VoIp company "good-bye", bought this thing, got two Google Voice local #'s (local to my area where I live) using two distinct Gmail addresses and in about five minute time, I had two lines, each one receiving and making phone calls on its respective Google Voice number (in other words, I now have two phone lines, two independent phone numbers, working independently and completely separate from each other). The set up is very easy. It looks or seems complicated but don't be intimidated by it -- look up a few YouTube how-to videos and you'll have this thing up and running in five minutes (make sure to also create an online account with ObiTalk which is free but necessary for a fast and painless setup of your device). The device itself can also be admin logged into directly (both LAN and WAN) and setup manually as well. But like I said, for the most straightforward, most simple and easiest setup, create an account with ObiTalk and follow the directions that come with the device, along with some YouTune video instruction should you need any. It's all very simple.Small foot print and very light. Been running strong for over a week now. Never had to restart it or do anything to it. Phones works flawlessly.Given that Google will keep maintaining its telephony service from now on and keep it as is -- "free" -- this device will amortize itself in a few months time. It's a deal, which at this present time, simply cannot be beat!
perfect for cutting another cord
May 4, 2017
this thing is awesome. I am using it for 2 lines, one google voice and the other through PhonePower (discounted OBI plan $59.99/year).Faxing works perfectly for receiving but only 50% success rate at sending. Still tweaking it but it seems adding a few commas after the number (extra 6-10 seconds time to transmit signal) increases the success rate.Otherwise the voice quality is superb and the features of the PhonePower and ObiHai portals are great. No downtime unless power goes out (and if you have the router and Obi interfaces on a UPS it should not).A great investment that allowed me to reduce my monthly phone bill from $35 to $5 while adding a second line and all the modern amenities a VOIP line should have: free caller ID, voicemail and fax to e-mail, multiple call capability, ringing multiple phones and call forwarding, cloud voicemail, spam call blocking, anonymous call rejection, etc. There is no reason to keep paying ATT or your internet / cable provider for a landline in 2017 - and this device allows you to cut another cord, with perfect functionality.
The process is quick and easy if you already have Gmail and google voice otherwise ...
January 5, 2017
Bought it in Nov but waited until today to hook it up. The process is quick and easy if you already have Gmail and google voice otherwise you'll be instructed to get it done during process. I had to ditch out the OO.. premium service that I had for few year. Got my wife and my GV numbers assigned to port 1 and 2, unfortunately Google voice can't port my old landline over because of unsupported area. Make sure you check your landline number can be porting over to GV first. I can setup to ring on these when there's a call along with my other cellphones. Obitalk support replied my emails very quickly.
Finally a way to use Google Voice without a mobile phone or land line.
December 19, 2016
Got it tonight and hooked it up right away. Used my existing Google Voice number and setup in a few minutes. Took more time to find my old wall mounted phone then to set it up. I am also using Hangouts app on my iPhone with the same Google Voice number. I was on a phone call using the OBi202 and my cell phone rang. It was my Hangouts app ringing. So someone else was calling me on the same Google Voice number. I answered and it allowed me to be on the same phone number with 2 different callers. When I hung up the OBi202 phone and stayed on my mobile using Hangouts, I tried to start a new call using the OBi202. It wouldn't give me a dial tone while I was still on the Hangouts call. Might be a limitation, but I think it was a phone hardware not initialization issue. Either way it is an interesting test to look into further. I think you make calls out of the different methods at the same time. Using the existing web page options, you can still have Google Voice ring you mobile or other home phone in addition to the OBi202. Not sure why you would but you could ring everything all at once.
Wow - Appears to Be a Great Product!
August 11, 2016
This review is being submitted less than two hours after receiving the product. Thus it is subject to revision based on experience gained over the next several weeks.I have marginal cell reception where I live. I first attempted to use a $275 Verizon extender and after several hours with Verizon and Medicom technical support I gave up and sent it back. Then on various web pages I noted how good the ratings were for this device. So I decided it was worth the $60 to try and the $40 for a couple of phones. I set up a google voice account a couple of days before the product arrived (very impressed with Google). Then when this product arrived I logged onto the Obihai site and it had automatic setup for Google voice. I knew I was going to have to play the game with opening ports on my modem. But....no....I did not have to. In fact within 5 minutes I was up and running and calling other phones, calling back to this phone setup, etc. It all worked like a charm. My next task is to forward my other office phone (I have an office in GA and VA) to the google voice number to see if it is forwarded properly. So I can ignore my cell phone connectivity issues and use this phone with very little cost to me. Some have complained that Obihai will charge them $20 a year after the first year. $20 a YEAR...who cares! This product is outstanding....easy to use...easy to install....and solves my problem.
100% Free Domestic Phone Calling with Google Voice... for just the cost of the ObiHai box
February 8, 2016
The Good:1. It works!2. Voice quality is great3. When paired with Google Voice, it's FREE. FREE. FREE to get and place calls in the US.4. Setup is simple (*)5. It's CHEAP compared to the alternatives. Especially, e.g. Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service, Vonage, Xfinity. Even the outlay for the cost of the box is less than you'll pay for those services because they charge more outright (Ooma is $120), or require a one year contract.6. It has TRUE multi-line support. Ooma, for example, allows you to have "two lines" but they behave like one unless you purchase Ooma's handsets and their $10/month service. You need two (or more?) Google Voice numbers.7. You can probably port your EXISTING phone number to Google Voice - if you first port the number to a cell carrier (find any carrier with a Pay as you go plan and a low cost, e.g. T-Mobile). Google Voice will not port numbers from most landline or VoIP providers, but for $20 will port from nearly all cell carriers. Ooma, by contrast, charges $40 to port a number.8. Google Voice has voicemail to text, multiple ring, spam call reduction, call screening, text notifications and more. Want those services elsewhere they will cost you. E.g. with Ooma you'll be paying a minimum of $20/month ($10 service, $5 for the cheap voicemail transcription and about $5 month in taxes and fees). The Iffy:A. The obitalk website which is needed to configure your device is a little wonky. By wonky, I mean it may be a bit intimidating to anyone who is a first time VoIPer. But I had little problem connecting my two Google Voice accounts, connecting two cordless phone system bases, and having one phone ring for my "home" line and the other ring for my "hobby" line. See the attached shots for examples of the ObiTalk website. That's a small bit of "iffy" and a lot of Good.

I would recommend this product to anyone as long as they have done their homework and know this is the route they want to take!
February 25, 2017
I absolutely love this product. I was very hesitant due to the price point but I recently became a cable cutter and as little as we use the home phone it is still necessary to have. So I decided to spend the money and give it a shot. I will say, it was easy to install and get working. My bill has been exactly what they said it was going to be and I have noticed no problems with the my VOIP phone service. I would recommend this product and service for someone looking for a good alternative for a phone service at a price that is affordable!
Excellent Combo ... Great Price!
January 29, 2017
I ordered this Telo / Linx Combo on Friday for an elderly parent who is ready to unplug from AT&T after 50 years. I personally have had an Ooma Hub for 6 to 7 years (and it still works great). The new Telo / Linx combo was delivered today (Sunday) by Amazon, and I quickly installed it this afternoon. The entire set up took me about 30 minutes (e.g., going online and setting up an Ooma account, plugging the Ooma into the back of the router, establishing the initial phone connection, connecting the Linx wireless device to the Telo, going back and finally tweaking all the account settings). We anticipate a savings of about $800 per year.I was initially hesitant to add/purchase the Linx wireless extender after reading some negative reviews here. HOWEVER, my actual experience with it has been much different. It works perfectly. And ... it immediately allowed a phone to be placed downstairs (e.g., the router and Telo are upstairs). We have had no problems with the Linx. I first activated and linked it to the Ooma Telo (within minutes). I then moved the Linx downstairs, attached a generic digital phone (a VTech), and the signal and voice quality were immediately clear. It is about 30 feet (with a thick sub-floor and several walls in-between) from the Ooma Telo.Everything works great (on the 1st time).
LOVE this VoIP hardware and service
January 29, 2017
LOVE this product and what they have to offer. I have recommended it to others. See pros and cons for details.I love the commerce diversity it encourages since so many of the ISP and TV content/ cable providers have tried to drive competition out of business with bundles that include a VoIP phone. They then jack the rates and charge disconnect fees (in microscopic contract print) to keep you after the teaser rates. They then have you over a barrel when your service is having problems because you are under contract. I choose this product and this service for this reason above and beyond the supeior product they provide. I choose to encourage competition with this fantastic option.----- Pros -------+ Includes nationwide calling, voicemail, caller-ID, call-waiting, 911 calling that I have access to with Basic... though I believe other things too that I am not using. See website for other details.+ Cost effective and super inexpensive [Basic is free and the Premium option is only $9.99 a month] NOTE: Basic you only pay taxes and fees, service is free. Example: I pay $4.22 a month for FCC taxes and fees. NOTE: see Ooma website for detailed features list for Basic and for Premium.+ Clear voice quality and consistent which was not my experience with my Cable provider nor my Landline.NOTE: Cable VoIP had issues I haven't seen in the 5 months I have had Ooma as my house phone line. The landline was constantly staticy and I battled AT&T for several years over the dropping out of the landline which I primarily used for my ADT system. It constantly failed to send signal back to ADT and then I would pick up the extension and no dial tone... and I paid almost $48 a month for that crap with no long distance.+ Works with any existing telephone you may already have. NOTE: If you have a built in answering device, you won't use that as the Telo functions as your answering machine, too.+ There is an option for setup that allows all phones in traditional phone jacks to work if you set the Telo up that way. It eliminates the need for a Linx if you have multiple phones in your house already hooked up to household phone jacks.+ Website provides lists of all missed calls and all calls with their details. Website has other information that is super helpful for a multitude of purposes (digresses from purpose of this review)+ customer service is responsive and helpful+ setup and dialtone on a temporary Ooma number was roughly 7 minutes after registering online. I had a temporary Ooma phone number while waiting for the porting of my house phone number. However, I could have just kept the new number and not ported the number.+ Has multiple other features I am not using that allows for use with other wireless technology, second phone number, etc. See their ad and other reviews for detailed feedback on those.----- Cons -------- ????????????????????????????Crystal-clear nationwide calling for free and low international rates. Pay only applicable taxes and fees.#1 rated home phone service for overall satisfaction and value by a leading consumer research publication.Ooma interacts with your favorite smart products to make your home safer and more convenient than ever before.Includes Ooma Linx remote phone jack to wirelessly connect telephony devices to your Telo, or access a second line.Includes nationwide calling, voicemail, caller-ID, call-waiting, 911 calling and text alerts.Compare with similar items
Finally, an internet-based product that is easy to install and attach to my ISP that delivers what it's marketing claims!
May 3, 2016
When it comes to internet based products (especially new routers), the experience of trying to get connected to the net through my ISP is usually one that produces a lot of frustration. Many, many products I have purchased to attach to the net through my ISP promise easy installation and deliver just the opposite when the product is actually attached to a router or the new router to my ISP.I was using a cell-based receiver from Verizon as my home phone for 2+ years. They promised good sound quality after checking their live coverage map when I signed the 2 year contract. My home experience was 2 years of calls that sounded terrible through a fairly good cordless phone set. No matter where in my home I placed the receiver, the home phone clarity was awful. Previous to Verizon, I had Vonage--expensive and call clarity was also not so great.I heard about Ooma VOIP through Mashable. Since Ooma's basic service was free excluding gov't taxes ($4.36/month) and their premier service is only $10 + taxes/month, I thought I would give it a try. After the package arrived from Amazon with the Ooma Telo and Linx, I was very pleased to see the set up process was extremely easy. After following the 4 step quick start process, the phone was up and running. I configured a home phone number (decided on new number because my previous number was getting WAY too many telemarketers!) and used the Linx wireless modem to attach home fax to with a separate number. The whole process took about 20-25 minutes including using the Android App and Chrome browser Ooma website on laptop. Very versatile software and easy to understand. Chatted with a service rep about a few things. Only took 35 seconds to speak with rep via chat. He answered my questions succinctly and resolved my issue in short order. The call quality is very clear--almost too clear as I and my wife can hear lots of background sounds through the mid-level Panasonic cordless handsets we have. This product is marvelous and, for the first time in quite a while, very easy to install and get up and running. Voice mails are easily retrieved through phone app or website. Very well organized. Will soon purchase Ooma handset for my wife to use while she works from home. Also, am happy we have 911 call features. Only drawback: if you are not connected to internet (say a power outage or ISP outage), you will not have 911 coverage. Am going to get a UPS to take care of any power issues.I really can't emphasize enough what a pleasure it is not to have to fight and struggle and call a customer service line to get internet hardware interfaced with my home router and peripherals. Plus great sound quality for 1/2 of what I was paying Verizon and 1/3 what I was paying Vonage. Did I mention the great call clarity? For once, the marketing claims matched the actual product performance! No--I don't own stock in Ooma, although I might check and see if they are publicly traded.
I Love Ooma! Here's why:
January 5, 2015
I've been using my Ooma service for a couple weeks now. I am SO PLEASED with this device. Here's why:1. The only cost I pay monthly is $3 for government taxes required to use 911 emergency services. I have no problem with that!2. The call quality is excellent.3. You get caller ID, call waiting, and voicemail all for free.4. The device itself looks pretty slick.5. You get to choose from a list of available local phone numbers (I think you can even use your current number instead, if you prefer).6. Came in secure packaging with easy to follow instructions.7. The lighted design on the top lets you know at a glance if your service is connected by shining an electric blue color. The small "play" button lights up orange when you have voicemail so you can easily see if you have new messages.I've tried several other VoIP's including Vonage (which is good, but costs $10-$25/month while Ooma is ONLY $3/month), and a few other apps on my iPad mini that let me make/receive calls in my iPad when I'm connected to the Internet (Talkatone, Google Voice, Voxofon, and WeTalk). For me, Ooma is the most convenient, because it works with any regular corded OR cordless house phone. So happy with my Ooma!
Working so far...and expect it to pay for itself soon
May 3, 2014
After I decided to buy my own cable modem (without telephony) instead of renting one from Comcast, I lost the ability to use VOIP with Comcast, so had to find an alternative. Following the recommendation of a family member, I bought this unit and set it up. So far it has worked very well. The instructions are quite good. It seemed to have a bit of trouble getting an IP address from my router initially, but within 10 minutes after I cycled the unit, the logo turned solid blue on the top and the phone worked fine. I am opting for basic ooma service, so I had to pay $40 to port my landline number from Comcast, but it was worth it to me versus keeping the free number I selected through the ooma website. The website indicates that the transfer will take 3-4 weeks, which is lengthy for something that should be simple by now, but maybe that estimate is way on the cautious side- time will tell. Some considerations:-If you want transfer your phone number, don't disconnect your phone service with the current provider until after the transfer occurs. If you cancel phone service with your current provider, you will not be able to transfer your number- it's out of your control and back in the number pool of your current provider.-ooma won't work with an Ackerman security system, so keep in mind you might have to go with a cell phone-based upgrade to your security system. It's much safer anyway, but it does decrease the monthly savings when switching to ooma. The cell service option will cost $10/month more, but I am still money ahead.Cost comparison:+$10.00 for cell phone upgrade to security system+$ 3.85 for monthly ooma taxes and fees-$ 7.00, no more monthly comcast modem rental charges-$ 32.00, no more Comcast phone serviceNet savings is about $25 per month; I spent $160 on the ooma and $150 on Netgear modem plus $40 on the port ($350), so I will break even in about 14 months. That's OK with me, and worth it to break away from having to use a substandard Comcast modem while getting an upgrade to our security system at the same time.Update- as soon as the phone number ported to Ooma, Comcast automatically raised my monthly subscription rate to internet and cable to $200, so I had to call them and go through the process of getting the monthly rate down. Comcast subscribers- be prepared.AUGUST 25 2014 update- No problems with the phone except when I continually lost my internet connection. Off topic, but we just switched to ATT Uverse service and at least in my locale the internet stability has been much better (no drops whatsoever in more than a week). The final straw was when I was charged $60 for a Comcast service visit when the tech could not find anything wrong with the signal strength, so he informed me he had to indicate that my equipment was to blame. I didn't understand that meant a $60 charge. I know other people have the exact opposite experience, but if you are dissatisfied with your current Comcast service, it's worth a look at ATT Uverse.OCTOBER 2014 update. Ooma box has worked flawlessly, but discovered that the company automatically signs you up for a higher tier of features that you get free for a month, but then your credit card begins to be charged at a higher rate. Just be aware that you will have to call and stop higher tier service if you don't want those features.MAY 2015: I haven't had any problems with the unit except very rare internet connection drops. BTW, it took me 6 months to get the $90 Comcast owed me back from them- after three calls and hours on the phone, plus a FAX to their "Consumer Service VP" or whatever their title is, I finally got the check. I have to say that Comcast's very poor customer service reputation is well deserved in my personal experience.

Would recommend this phone
September 8, 2017
I like these phones. They work as intended. The menu and configuration is not very intuitive... adding numbers to phone book, etc. Otherwise, it would have been 5 starts. Battery life is good, clear communications, speaker phone, reception, good buttons, back light, and range are all of good quality.

An affordable option for a temporary phone line when my kids moved in. They are a little difficult to use/figure out, and don't have all the features of a more expensive set. However, they do work flawlessly for making and receiving calls.
Great Product!

If you are looking for a set of great quality phones for your business or residence, these are perfect. The prices is very fair and the quality is great. I purchased these cordless phone for my home last summer and I have no complaints. I use one for each side of the house since I have teens and these phone still operate today as they did when I pulled them out of the package a year ago. I would definitely purchase again or refer to friends and family.
Easy to program
March 17, 2017
Kind of small in my big mitts . . . Sound / clarity is as expected. I WISH the talk & Off buttons lit up, gotta learn & remember WHERE they are, after dark. Easy to program, no manual needed, thus far . . .
Budget friendly wireless phone!
September 22, 2016
This VTech phone looks good in a bright blue, plugged in and worked right out of the box. No mess. No fuss. We use this as an extension on the porch where our other inside wireless phones have poor reception and it works well. It's predecessor was also a VTech and survived the outdoor (put protected) porch location for about 3 years before corrosion finally got it. We use the speaker phone function frequently and it works nicely as well. The menu system can be confusing, but we don't use this phone for many outbound calls, so we never loaded the directory. Just answer, talk and hang up! A lot of phone for not much money.

Great google voice phone adapter!
July 30, 2017
Great google voice phone adapter! After doing some research online i stumbled on this google voice converter. I gave the device 4 stars because the OBI software is not that great and the website was a little bit annoying and this converter forced you to go to their website to link your google voice account. But the steps are easy to follow and the directions are clear for setting up this phone with google voice. I have not tried the OBI products, and instead have soley used this for google voice. I was able to place and receive calls to my NY cell phone. We bought this product to replace the phone in our summer/weekend place where a full phone service is not necessary. for that purpose this product is great.Does not include phone, but does include ethernet and power cable which is nice.I definitely recommend this for anyone looking to ditch a cable company landline.
Works well as a home phone VoIP device; replaced my dying Obi100 and have been happy with it
June 26, 2017
Excellent VoIP device. After my Obi100 started dying, I decided to upgrade. The 200 is pretty similar in most ways. I have it set up with Phonepower and Google to provide a true home phone + E911 AND to get unlimited free outbound calls. Setup is easy, since Obihai, by default, configures it remotely, with everything easily configured through their website. In theory, you can disable automatic provisioning and configure it manually to do whatever you want. I've also heard that Obihai like to try to upsell you on their services, but they are expensive and seem mostly useless.
Performs much better than the OBi100
January 19, 2017
I came from the OBi100 and it has been three days now since I swapped it out for the OBi200. I was having quite a few calls dropped (I could hear the person I was talking to, but they could not hear me) with the OBi100, but not so with the OBi200. Also, the dial tone broke up for the first 30 or so seconds with the OBi100. However, I have not noticed that at all with the OBi200. Overall, I am very pleased with the OBi200 so far.I gave it only four stars because I think the cost of the extended warranty after the one year is up (included with the device) is a ripoff.
Despite negative reviews, I am happy with my purchase.
May 29, 2016
Despite the negative reviews I have read regarding the lack of public knowledge on the annual subscription fee, I am still giving this product a 4-star review. I did notice the $20 annual fee which it seems I will need to pay in 1 year, but IMO this is a small price to pay given the alternatives. Just as an example, the Vonage product carries with it a $10 monthly fee, or in other words $120 annually. That is 6x+ more expensive than the annual fee required by Obihai! Sure, the initial investment is a bit pricier with the Obihai; ~$50 compared with ~$10 for the Vonage, but of course this is a one-time fee and not a monthly reoccurring cost.I've also seen reviews stating that the product has a limited life span, i.e. MTBF, of approximately 1 year or less. It is of course impossible for me to comment on this so early in the product's life, and I sincerely hope that this is not the "norm", however I will say that even if I only get 1 year of life out of this product, I would still be coming out ahead financially when comparing this solution to others (again I reference Vonage, which at $120 annually would be over 2x the price for 1 year of service, even when factoring in the initial investment for the device(s)).To speak to the functionality of the product, it works exactly as I expected. Google voice is an amazing solution for a "home phone"; I've been using it for my mobile for many years, so I am quite pleased to be able to use it in this capacity. This of course speaks to the strength of Google's product more than anything, but any device that allows me to leverage Google Voice in this capacity is a great investment from my perspective. The one and only weak point that I observed was the Android app which is advertised to be used with this product. While it works fine, it looks like it was written 10 years ago; the design is quite dated and I suspect that either it was in fact written ~10 years ago, or the developers placed such a low priority on front-end design that the resulting app looks horrible. This is a very minor qualm; I would likely never use the app even if it looked amazing, but I thought it was worth mentioning.Overall, I am happy with my purchase.
Update: It disconnect sometimes
January 29, 2016
After 6 months of usage combined with google voice, this product is now a 3 1/2 star.My wife will call me sometimes saying "its not working again". What she meant she tries to call it & it will just ring continuously but in reality the phone is not ringing. I have to unplug it to restart .Old review below been more than a month now, so far im happy with its performance.Several months before buying this device, we've decided to cancel our landline ($35/mt) & ported our number to Google Voice. While waiting for Magicjack to go on sale, i saw an ad for this Obi200. We bought it & installed it. Were 99% satisfied. The 1% is bcos we noticed some very minor delay or voice cutting off but not a big deal.Im happy bcos theres no monthly bill & weve attached our old home number to this device. We told our friends & family they can call us using our old number.
Loved it while it worked. Warranty service non-existent.
January 4, 2016
(See update at the bottom of this review)I love the idea. I love the tech. And this would be a five star product but for one major issue, that issue being that when there is a problem, support and warranty assistance and service are basically non-existent.I purchased this device in June of 2015 and had good service using Google Voice right up until January 2nd of 2016. On that day, the 'phone LED' went from the green "yep, you have service" state to just off. The ObiTalk dashboard shows the device "offline" also.I went through every troubleshooting step. I factory reset the device. I tried deleting the device from ObiTalk so that it could be re-added (per advice in the Obi forums where this delete and re-add procedure had fixed an "offline" issue for other Obi users.) No joy. The Obi dashboard can't even find the device to add it back. Not only that, but the **9 222-222-222 test also fails. Other checks included my firewall (which had not been changed and was not the issue), rebooting router and modem, swapping ethernet cables and on and on.So when there's a problem with an under warranty device, I do what I do and try to contact the maker. No joy there either. A help request submitted online goes unanswered. Calling the support number for Obihai resulted in an hour and a half (!!) on hold and never reaching an actual person. Email has gone unacknowleged and unanswered.Really loved this device paired with Google Voice while it all worked. And if I could get some service and get the issue with the Obi200 fixed, this would, as I said, be a five star review. (I don't downrate a product for an occasional failure. Everything can break and does. I do downrate when something breaks and the warranty doesn't seem to be worth the paper on which is written.)If Obi can step up and solve this, I will adjust my rating. But between the aggravating perma-hold on the phone and the other ignored attempts to contact Obi, all I can think right now is "Buyer beware."Update: A comment to my review has a workaround for updating the firmware on out of warranty Obi devices. The workaround worked perfectly and my Obi is updated and working as it should. Back to four stars!

Works great - not compatible with some phones
May 8, 2017
I have a landline service provided by local cable company. I needed an additional line at home. I thought of getting Vonage, then came across this. I wanted to give it a shot and I am glad that I did. It works great with the right phones. Initially, I tried with AT&T cordless phone and had some issues. The calls won't disconnect and I have to reset the device every time. I called customer service, they acknowledged the issue with AT&T cordless phones, but blamed the AT&T phones for the issue. I tried the same AT&T lines with timewarner land line and vonage and it worked great.I tried Panasonic that I used for landline and it worked fine. The customer service suggested that I get the VTech phones, I was reluctant but I got them from a local store. They are working flawlessly so far, with Google voice. I have not tried the second line yet.
Good voice quality device
February 4, 2017
Good voice quality device, easy to set up and operate. down sides, it does not work with standard fax machine, you can not send or receive fax. I have tried to connect OBi202 to small office phone system it also did not work. It is good to use with standard phone or answering machine. You can not transfer your lan line phone number to Google voice so you are better of to use Google assigned number or transfer you cell number.
Two line VoIP adapter w/ full menu access
November 24, 2016
Pros;1. Full menu access (I was use to using a older Sipura with Broadvoice),2. Indicator lights (but see below),3. Two lines & USB port,4. Runs fairly cool,5. This was specifically for Google Voice, but works with many other VoIP providers.Cons,1. Indicator light excessively bright. I had to cut a piece of electrical tape to block off 3/4 of each indicator,2. External PS which I rarely like3. It could be larger, the rear panel is crowdedI choose PhonePower (Broadvoice residential) for my main provider.
Excellent Device, Easy Setup, but Beware...
June 12, 2016
Excellent, high-quality device with full Google Voice support. Relatively easy to setup and configure. I took one star off because I have learned from multiple forums and reviews that after 1 year, Obihai will charge you a 'support fee' if you wish to change your configuration - others have referred to this charge as a hidden and undisclosed 'Ransomeware'. Time will tell, I'm hoping this is not the case and/or Obihai will have changed their policy...
Cristal Clear Communication with Google Voice
July 2, 2014
I decide to purchase this item to port my Nettalk phone number to Obihai. In other review, I explain how bad Nettalk support is. Moreover, Nettalk is unreliable device with very limited features (call forwarding is horrible).I have MJ and Obihai hook on the same Ubiquiti router and I never experience any issue, it is not the case with Nettlak. That being said, have this device setup with GV was a breeze (10 minutes). After a week of continuous talking (incoming or outgoing free call), I'm impress by the quality of the communication with OBI. After a week of trial, I'm impress. Will I port my Nettalk number to PhonePower for 59$/year, 10$ more than Nettalk for more service, 3000 more minutes and more features CERTAINLY not, After more than 14 day trial of PHONE POWER, service is worst than NETTALK. I decide to park my phone number and wait till MagicJack offer porting for canadian number. In the mean time, I continue to use OBI with Google Voice and I'm impress, free is better.UPDATE: August 21, 2014Google voice is great, work flawlessly. I now cancel PHONE POWER for good, worst service there is, customer service is jul.
I'm hard on these types of things but this works better than i ever expected.
August 14, 2013
First of all, i tend to dislike VOIP because, if the connection is strained, it gets to be bad quality. However, after hearing about this, i decided to try it. The sound quality is great and i've held LONG phone calls with it with no problems at all. It has a dedicated website, software center, and allows for a LOT of flexibility. But there is one problem, there is no Mac or Linux support for the software. Even worse, their online chat "techs" are completely IGNORANT of anything. I called and asked, "Will there be support for Mac OSX 10.6.x or higher?" and the answer i got was, "You mean the IOS for iphone?" This tells me one thing, these are what i've deemed as 'flash-card' techs. They read stuff off flash-cards and or documents set in front of them and know NOTHING beyond that and, if i ever get into a real jam....it's a problem.I've worked as a computer tech for 28 years, worked for an ISP (i was there Jan 1, year 2000 during the BS Y2K scare) and i know all the insanity that people can bring when they get freaked out when something they pay for doesn't work, the paranoia is beyond a tech's wildest nightmares and you HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.....ANY tech (who's been on the front line) will tell you it's true. So, as far as this goes, if you stick to all the documentation, have some knowledge of VOIP software/hardware and have some general computer knowledge, you can get this thing up and running in about 20-30 mins and it's STABLE. Once i got it established, i've never had a problem out of it.With this, if something fails, it's generally because you have done something wrong or your internet is having an issue. This is a SOLID piece of hardware and works INCREDIBLY well with Google Voice. I run my office with it and it even sends about-to-be-missed calls to my cell phone. This thing is the best i've tested and i've tested lots of items that came before it. Most of the predecessors were shaky %50 of the time.I would venture to say that if people give this product a bad review, it's because they didn't know what they were doing from the jump.

Ooma works for us!
August 16, 2017
Have been using the Ooma for just over two years and it works very well for us. We had our landline/voip number ported to Ooma, so we did not have to notify everyone of a new number. We travel back and forth between two homes in other states and just bring the Ooma with us. Just have to change address, so emergency vehicles are not sent to the wrong address if 911 is dialed. Only gripe I have is if we are connected to someone who has a landline (few left) there is an echo on the line. None of noted fixes have worked for this. We were paying over $30 for VOIP through AT&T and Ooma costs between $4 and $5 per month for local tax. Found their customer service to be very responsive when we did the number porting. We use Ooma Premier and have barely scratched the surface of it's capabilities. We do forward calls to cell, when out of town for a couple of days using it. Very happy with Ooma!
Cheaper than traditional land-line service, but . . .
February 2, 2017
Purchased to replace our basic (no caller-id, no call waiting, no long distance, etc) land-line $32/month phone service - now our monthly phone charge is $4.32 . . . which includes caller-id, call-waiting, and long distance! Simple installation, too. However, though the phone quality is acceptable (given the monthly charge difference), there are a couple things that could be improved.1) There is a definite delay in the conversation. Appears to be about 1/2-second or so delay, sometimes resulting in you being able to actually hear an 'echo' of the last thing you said on phone. Happens on both direct-connected old-school push-button handset, and on cordless phone. Not an internet speed issue (50 Mbps). This occurs whether handset is connected directly to the Ooma device, or as we have it installed as list in 3) below2) This same delay sometimes is heard by the person on the other end of the call. Especially noticeable during quick back-and-forth conversations, to the point that conversation 'cuts-out' and choppy.3) We have Ooma unit installed in 'electronics' closet with modem/router, with RJ11 cable running from Ooma to pre-installed phone wall jack. This makes all phone wall-outlets able to connect to single Ooma. We also have a cordless phone w/answering. If a call comes in and no one answers, cordless phone answering will record message. If call comes in while we are on phone, call waiting will activate, then call will forward to Ooma device, which will record message. Only way to retrieve that message is to go into 'electronics' closet and push amber blinking light, listening to message.
Never thought I would like an internet based phone
December 3, 2016
Never thought I would like an internet based phone, but this system works very well. Purchased a bundle with one of their HD handsets and the calls are crystal clear. Set-up was fairly straight forward, but needs to be done on a computer. The basic service is free but you have to pay for the premium service. Can get 2 phone numbers, even a separate number for a fax. But that's part of the premium service.I took away one star for the quality of the speaker in the Ooma base, just not up to snuff. Distorts too easily, good to be used but you can that it's a cheap speaker. For the size, should be much better. Also, some of the instructions included in the box was old and not relevant to the new system. For example, in the box, the instructions states that to use with a fax you need to dial *99 first, well for the first 2 days I could not get the fax to work. Called customer support, very good by the way, and they told me that the newer systems do not need the *99 prior to the number dialed for faxing out....well that's not what the info in the instructions say...someone forgot to update the instructions, but problem solved and working well now.
Very pleased the the service
November 12, 2016
Overall I am very please with Ooma. The call quality is pretty decent and I love the ability to have a traditional home line that will also ring on my cell phone. As VOIP is pretty well vetted technology, there is not much more that I can say to the positive on this. For less than $4 a month ongoing (local and federal taxes that they have to charge), this pays for itself in just a few months. There are two negatives.1. As I am on conference calls a lot, I have to dial meeting numbers quite often. Unfortunately, I have noticed that you have to type the meeting numbers very deliberately so that they register. It is really a pain when you have the same number repeated as the Ooma service will quite often miss the repeating number tone. Not a huge issue, but annoying enough that I have to retype my conference numbers many times.2. You would think that since this is a computer based phone system, that a 'soft phone' through the computer would be possible. Some sort of app on the computer so that you can take the Ooma with you and have it work through your computer would be great. Unfortunately, it doesn't support this. Minor annoyance but a feature I have grown to like on other services such as skype for business.Overall, I am quite pleased and would definitely recommend this service to a friend.
WOW!!!! THIS IS GREAT
September 12, 2014
I just received this unit yesterday and I am sure I have acquired a few more gray hairs trying to figure it all out, and I consider myself technically inclined or maybe one of my off days. You will need to pack your patience because it does take a while for that blue solid light to show, but it is worth the wait. I had to call Customer Service several times and they were all very nice and helpful. I decided not to get the premier package, so I called Customer Service and asked them to opt me out now so there was no chance of being billed after the 60 days were over. I would suggest you follow-up to make sure it was done. I also requested for my number from A** to be ported, very easy to do from the website. This is not a landline phone, but is a very good substitute. I have gotten good feed-back about the voice clarity. So far I am pleased , will do update if anything changes.
The conversion of a skeptic
August 1, 2014
I have used VOIP telephony services before and always went back to a land-line because of call quality issues. So I was skeptical when I saw the Ooma Telo, but based on the reviews and what I was reading about the audio quality features, I decided to give it a try. Who wouldn't love to get rid of their telephone bill?Installation was really quite easy, it turned out, as long as you follow the instructions. After registering the device online as instructed, I attached it to the LAN side of my broadband router and powered it on for the first time. It blinked red for a bit, then turned purple as it downloaded its updated software. After a few minutes, the light turned blue, and I got a dial tone on my phone. So then I placed a call to check out the audio experience. As I expected, like all VOIP products I've tried, there was a slight delay in the audio, which can be annoying - especially since the actual delay gets doubled in two-way communications. The actual delay one-way is slightly less than one second (which is slightly better than other VOIP products I've used). So one second after I say something the other person hears it. Then they respond which I hear that one second after that. The net result is that I hear almost two extra seconds of silence between my speaking and my hearing the other person's response. It's annoying, but expected. So I withheld a star for that.I like the voicemail and caller-id features that come with the free subscription (which the phone company charged me an extra $10 per month for), but I was disappointed to discover that my current phone number could not be ported, and the available selection of phone numbers in my chosen area code gave me about 50 number to choose from, so not a lot of options. Supposedly they can port many people's phone numbers, but not mine, and not for free either. If my number had been eligible for porting, it would have cost me $40, and would have entailed filling out a paper form, mailing it in, and waiting a few weeks for the transfer to take place. I take another star away for that. But today I'm giving one star back for the audio quality. Even though there is the slight delay, the audio has been crystal clear for me. I'm having a problem with my broadband provider today (which they're sending a technician out to repair... next week...seriously?!?!) I'm only able to get a little less than half a megabit download speed at the moment, even though I paying for 10. So I thought, "This is my chance to test how my Ooma performs when the Internet is dead slow." I've placed several calls now through the Ooma Telo while surfing and testing download speeds. Chrome loads the pages painfully slowly, and I continue to see anemic download speeds, but my phone call is crystal clear. I hear absolutely no degradation in call quality compared to when the Internet was running at full speed. So, goodbye phone bill! And to all of my friends out there, please program my new phone number into your address books, and feel free to believe that I'm giving extra thought to what you've said before I respond... Ooma is here to stay.

Not great in loud kitchens.
August 25, 2017
They have good range, but if someone calls on a cell phone, you can barely hear them half the time. Use this system in a pizza joint and I have to guess at what people are ordering sometimes.
It's a good thing too
April 22, 2017
Hardly use it. It's a good thing too, they just don't make phones like they used to. Such light weight and feels so cheap, but it's working, I hear fine with it, others seem to hear me fine too.
Volume a little low
March 19, 2017
Works great! See no reason to buy an expensive house phone considering I use my cell 90% of the time!.... Only gripe would be sound volume doesn't go as high as my old one! My parents had a hard time using it because of that.
because the one on my night chest is annoying when it rings and I am not yet awake

Wish they had a shut off button, because the one on my night chest is annoying when it rings and I am not yet awake.Would think about getting new ones, but I purchased 4 of them....all cordless maybe a year ago.

great little device
August 4, 2017
great free phone service. I needed a second line for faxing purposes and it works half/half with google voice, probably better with other service. The only complaint that I notice that the telephones in the house with mechanical bells inside of them, the unit doesn't give enough power to them ring them, so they might not ring or make a faint clicking sound, so an external ringer is required for those type of telephones. I've notice however a whole lot of VOIP phone boxes and wireless home phone boxes are like this. This should be addressed and changed.
Lots of downfalls, but worth it to save a ton of money.
March 31, 2017
Bought this to replace the EOL Obi100. Seems unnecessary as it offers no benefits over the old unit. Still has some of the same problems. 75% of the time, I have to pick up the phone, get a "phone off the hook" tone, hang up, then pick it up again in order to make a call. Long delay between dialing and actually making a connection and starting to ring.Still, with all of these draw backs, it's worth it over the price of local phone service.
Great if you don't need help.
March 18, 2016
This product works...the reason I gave it three starts is that tech support is really bad. They don't answer your emails for help. There is no one so actually speak with on the phone as there are some pretty impactful glitches that only they can fix, when they decide to. You can't rely on this for consistent phone service. Very poor in that department. Also there have been disconnects, probably with google voice, that tech support doesn't respond to for help.

Once working, the product is great. Tech support didn't pick up the phone and rings forever. No notice of phone support hours on site. Spent 2.5 hours after updating firmware to get the website to recognize that I was all updated(it kept looping me, saying that I still needed firmware, but my product was offline. An email to tech support had them fix the problem on their end, and then it worked. 3.5/5 stars from me. Rough around the edges, but eventually works well!

November 20, 2015
3 stars because it was so difficult to setup with Google voice and hard to contact support, no response from support. After many attempts to set up Google voice, I logged into the web interface for the device and did a factory reset, that did the trick!! I recommend trying the factory reset from the web admin if you are having problems getting it to work with google voice, after factory reset go back to the obitalk website and complete the Google talk setup. As for quality, voice quality is excellent, this is the best voice quality VOIP adapter I've used. Much better than MagicJack.
Support is non-existent
May 24, 2015
The box itself is good and once we got it working, sound quality was great. Took off 2 stars because the support is non-existent and you are on your own to figure out your issues. We could not get it to work with Google Voice. Ended up paying $40 to Anveo for phone service since I could not expend any more time trying to get it to work with Google Voice. Now having a phone number porting issue and again, Obihai tech support is unhelpful and nearly non-existent. You can only contact them by email and they manage to not understand my problem every time and give me a response that essentially says it's not their problem.

Disappointed

I thought the extra features are part of the unit. But, the extra features are subscription. I will just continue to set up my RaspPBX instead and have all the features such as smart attendance, voice mail box, music on hold, etc...
Works Good
November 4, 2015
This replaced a flaky Cisco SPA-2102 and so far is working fine and runs cooler the the Cisco box.At first we were getting calls every 15 minutes with a caller ID of "1", this caused a fair amount of grief and I finally had to get on the Obitalk forums to get the answer:If you are using a service like voip.ms or Vitelity make sure to put a checkmark on:Voice Services > SPx > X_AcceptSipFromRegistrarOnly or you might have the same problem.I think this should be enabled by default to keep the bot sip probes away... -2 stars. After enabling X_AcceptSipFromRegistrarOnly, all is well.
Unable to access Google Voice VOICEMAIL to listen to messages from this device
June 11, 2015
The Obi202 can't be used to listen to voicemail on your connected Google Voice account. This is very surprising deficiency and I could not find it mentioned anywhere in the description or reviews on Amazon. I verified this limitation with tech support at Obihai.I won't say anything else about the device since it is very well covered by other reviewers.
Don't Buy It for Faxing
September 20, 2013
I bought the device almost a year go so that I could connect my fax machine to it and hopefully reduce my total phone bill. I went with Obi202 because it supports faxing protocol T38. In theory, at least. In practice, not so much. What I didn't realize when I bought the device is that you also have to have a service provider account configured to work with the device. The most popular is Google Voice, and it works great as a phone service. But, Google Voice doesn't support faxing or T38 protocol. Big problem. After finding this out and going over forums on Obihai site, it seemed that there are two main providers that people were using that work with Obi and support T38, and CallCentric was the more popular one. It's not free, so you have to pay to try it out, but I wanted to get the fax working, so I signed up. After hours and hours of fiddling with fields, values, options, and settings on Obi and my fax machine, the best I could get was receiving faxes by email through CallCentrics fax service, but not on my fax machine and not after multiple attempts each. At best, it's hit or miss. I was able to send one fax out, but since receiving of faxes is unreliable, being able to send faxes is not going to help me. I've reviewed Obi forums again and found a message where someone was asking if anyone could make Obi202 work with a fax machine with any provider at all, and .... other people replied saying they have the same problem, well, except for one guy. I spent a lot of time reconfiguring my device and fax machine like he suggested, but it didn't help me. I've followed Obi's and CallCentric tech supports' directions exactly, and it's still a no go. I give up. Callcentric support agreed to give me my money back, thank you, guys!I have to add that faxing worked fine with Vonage and Verizon FIOS Digital Voice. I still have one Verizon FIOS line, and when I plug it now into my fax machine, it works fine. Based on this, it's neither my fax machine nor connection nor router that cause the problem with faxing. The phone service with Google Voice works fine though. And, Obi's support was great when in the beginning they replaced my defective unit; hence three stars instead of one. But, I wanted fax specifically, otherwise, I would've gone with a cheaper model of Obi. I wish I had known about the problem with fax support by providers at the time of the purchase. So, the fact that Obi202 supports T38 protocol is not enough without availability of reliable and stable support from providers that Obi202 device is compatible with. Until there is one, Obi202 is not a fax solution. Right now, it's a like a car without gas in it. It can't go anywhere.
Have yet to get incoming calls to ring.
August 9, 2013
For the price of this (and it's baby brothers) it's almost an impulse-buy for Google Voice users such as myself. However, I have yet to get incoming calls to actually ring! I can make outbound calls just fine, but for the life of me, I can't receive them. Also, it's very frustrating that you have to set up an account with the manufacturer to use this. There is no reason for that. I don't have to do that with any of my software-based solutions, and this device should be able to be configured directly, but the manufacturer chose to do the configuration on their site, then push it down to your unit. Not really a fan of that. Also, while I had planned on using this as a voice router (i.e. putting it at the very front, connecting between my modem and regular router so I could prioritize voice traffic--one of the reasons I bought this over the other units--that too I was unable to get to work. So for now, it's just sitting on my desk, unplugged, as I try to get this straightened out with Obihai directly.Speaking of, they do seem very friendly and helpful. They just haven't yet figured out what's going on with my unit.
Works part of the time
June 26, 2013
I honestly don't like this product after about a year of usage. It regularly gives just a busy signal for no reason to outside callers. Having to restart the device once a month was a real pain since it's in a remote location. I'm was still able to place outbound calls from the inside, and even view the status as green from the webpage. The only way to fix the issue is to power cycle my Obi device.Updated: I eventually just changed SIP providers because it completely stopped working with VOIP.ms after a firmware update. I was always able to communicate with the device and even call it using the built in obi network so I know the physical equipment wasn't bad. It was something with the integration to VoIP.ms that was buggy. I switched to Anveo as my SIP provider and have not had any issues like with VoIP.ms. I raised my review rating one star since it was probably an issue on VoIP.ms' side but honestly the problems still wasted a lot of my time. The product listed compatibility for voip.ms services and I expected that. Days of troubleshooting, forum posting, and debugging eventually just lead me to another provider. If it weren't for the product's issues with VoIP.ms I would consider it a 5 star purchase now. No issues this month after switching.

Cheap Phone Service - Poor Gadget Life
April 11, 2017
As our kids reach the age of being able to stay home by themselves we wanted to reinstate a land line service for our home in the event of emergencies and/or serve as a backup communication option. The device set up was fairly straightforward, so no issue there. As a VOIP service, the device works well for the first 45 minutes of a call. As calls continue longer, we've experienced connectivity issues and people have trouble hearing us. When the connection is terminated and reestablished, we have a clear communication channel again. I have not called tech support to troubleshoot as 99% of the calls are less than 10 minutes. My other disappointment is that the base station died after six months. It's under warranty, so we'll get it replaced, but six months is a very short period of time to have a simple electronic device die.We also purchased the wireless handset to pair with the basestation. It's a simple, basic phone. No complaints.
Good, Bad, and Ugly of Ooma
March 21, 2017
I really like the idea Ooma represents. It has allowed me to save money on calls. I purchased Ooma about nine months ago. Here are some things to consider:GOOD:1. $$$-Save money! I pay about $4.50 per month.2. Forwarding-I can track calls while away with my cell.3. Features-Lots of features although they costs.4. Free-National calling for free.5. Picture ID-I really like the idea of seeing a picture of who is calling on the handset.BAD:1. Handset-The handset stopped working so I called customer service (using my cell) and they replaced the handset. The handset is cheaply constructed and feels like it could crack or break apart at any time.2. Screening calls-I like to hear who is calling on the answer machine before I pick up, unfortunately this is an added feature and cost more.3. Phone number-Additional charge to keep old phone number.UGLY:1. Reliability-Phone service is "not reliable". Sometimes I cannot use the phone at all. Maybe because it relies on the internet. My internet is with Spectrum at 100mbs and works great.2. Other-I notice I use my cell phone more since I got Ooma. It is more reliable.3. Spouse- The wife doesn't like it, thank goodness she has a new iPhone.Summary: There are ways to use phone service with the internet and they are even cheaper or free. After buying the answer machine, Handset, Premiere upgrade, and old phone number it amounted to about $240.00. I will continue to use Ooma but I see a transition to just a cell phone in the future. Would I recommend Ooma, yes, but with caution.
The unit was easy to set up and the sound is fine
October 26, 2016
The unit was easy to set up and the sound is fine. But one reason I chose this brand and model, is that I could use my original phone number. When I tried to port my old number I received an error message stating that I couldn't port my number. When I inquired about this Ooma told me that in some rural areas, and with certain carriers the porting was not possible. I don't live in a rural area, I live in a city of 35,000 just 40 miles from Peoria, Illinois. My advice to prospective purchasers who want to use their existing number, contact Ooma and verify that your number can be transferred before you make your purchase.
Great product, setup troublesome
March 15, 2016
My first Ooma Telo has been working great for over three years, after I spent nearly a week getting it past the firewall in my Motorola SBG6580. I had to bypass a number of ports (UDP & TCP). Not for the IT Timid. My recently purchased Ooma Telo, second edition, worked great with for 5 days, until Ooma completed the porting of our existing home number to the Ooma Telo.. Then, all was fine, except the phone would not ring. I tried two different phones, plugged directly into the Ooma Telo unit. One, a wired handset, would chirp once. The other, a wireless speakerphone, made no indication of incoming calls.I was on the computer, first, and then the phone, for well over 2 hours that Friday. They couldn't resolve the issue; said to wait until tomorrow. They would call the next day around noon. I called them back about 1 PM. For an hour, the service rep tried resetting the unit, and whatever other tricks he had. He had me go into my speakerphone setup to change the volumne, even though I told him the problem was on two different phones. Finally, he decided to send another Ooma Telo, but it couldn't ship until Monday. Late Tuesday, I got the new unit, set it up, and all is well. Except that the return label doesn't appear to include home pickup, so I have to drive 20 minutes each way and drop it off at UPS. I emailed the service rep about this, but got no response. The Ooma Telo is well worth the cost; that I bought a second unit indicates that. But you may find the setup is a real chore. You may be without usable phone service for a few days if you have your current number ported. And, if you have to deal with their customer service, the "music" they blare out at you while on hold is the worst I have ever heard. I had to turn the volumne down on the speakerphone to have any chance of hearing the phone ring.
Great call quality but don't seem to last a long time.
December 28, 2015
First, the call quality is wonderful. When I first installed this it was better than the Verizon copper wire landline. The ability to forward calls and get messages remotely makes this a no brainer for replacing a traditional landline. The second line phone they sell is OK (much better than the first generation). The best use of this is to tie the base to something like a Panasonic base with 4 or 5 other wireless phones. The caller ID transfers to the Panasonic phones without a problem.I would give this 5 stars if they lasted longer. My first unit lasted several years before going out. I ordered a replacement in 7/14 and by 12/15 the unit is dropping calls. I ordered another one because at this point I don't think there is a better unit on the market.
1st in line from a hardwire land line
March 9, 2015
Update 5/11/2015 - I just lowered it a star. While the device performs, I rate things on customer service as well as hardware. Even though I paid for a year of updated features I still have to pay government taxes. Well my credit card got copied and was replaced. I updated their web page for my payment information. Now I get emails that they can not charge me (new or old card # idk) So I called.. they want the original temporary number to look up the account.. who remembers a temp. # after 6 months. Even with other details and finally finding the original temp number still no help. Worse service experience ever, the guy said to call back, he had no clue how to help.---------------------------------------------------------------Still looking for a better land line. Ever since the days Ma Bell got broken up land lines have gone through change. Telco's say the monthly cost of $45 is to recover the installation. Well if it cost them $100,000 to provide 1 line, and the bundle it with 100 more, then 22 years later its paid for. However they have been charging this for 75 years..until VoIP and cell phones. I had Vonage, but the quality sucked, then I went to Wireless home phone.. ok but scattered features and service. Ooma is my last attempt to keep my land line. It has lots of features, I pay a year in advance for what I want, and so far so good. Sometimes the call quality is not what I expect, mainly because I have about 10 internet devices trying to use 1mb upload. So quality is probable to my bad. I like it is the bottom line.

Be prepared to pay if returning!
September 15, 2017
Didn't even remove fully from box. Obvious the box had been previously opened; inside tabs split, outside split in side with hole in it, outside tab tape removed, and contents haphazardly packed. So, I cannot speak for the performance of the unit, didn't even plug it in. Know that if you return it like I did, you are responsible for shipping it back. Cost $11 to return the unit. I feel like I've been ripped off, receiving second hand merchandise, then having to pay to return it!

I gave this item 2 stars (1) I had these phones for 5 months their not working anymore totally dead. (2) the screen is not clear the screen is to dark letters to small. I should have return tem earlier now all I have to do is throw them in the trash. bad choice on my part.

I realize this was a used product but it was said to be in good/ great condition. the old numbers weren't even cleared from the phone and one of the handset screens doesn't even work. it is obvious that this product wasn't even checked/ inspected before putting a price on it. it is obvious that this phone is also well used and old. this kind of phone is a good brand, I have owned them before. this product's condition however was not as advertised.

I haven't even been able to set it up. When I read the installation instructions, it stated that I needed a DSL filter in order to get it to work since I have my phone service through my internet provider. Have visited a few stores and cannot find this filter. I'll probably return this item. Nowhere in the product description did it state that this additional item was necessary to get the phone to work.

Worked great for about the first 3 weeks then it just slowly get's worse. It doesn't receive calls anymore. I can still make them though, so I see someone called and then have to call them right back. A little annoying. Could have been a little happier with this purchase. Will update the review if I find anything out to make it work better.

have intermittent problem making outgoing call
August 6, 2016
it seems pretty stable for incoming calls but about a third of the time I seem to have a problem making outgoing calls. I sent email to technical support and made it clear that I am able to make outgoing calls some times, yet their recommendation is to configure/enable ports on my network router. That advice is ridiculous because if the appropriate ports were not allowed, I'd NEVER be able to make ANY outgoing calls AT ALL. Trying to figure how to get a replacement unit.
Pretty good deal.. if they work for you for any amount of time.
March 25, 2016
This is my 6th Obihai box which I have purchased. I have had spotty luck at best. First I had an obi100, that went just past the 1 year warranty, then died. Troubleshot, had to be replaced, so I bought another. This one again lasted more than a year and died. This time I saw an option to add an extended warranty plan to cover the device. So I bought it for both devices thinking I could get them fixed. Well that didn't apply to these as they had been replaced by the company with a newer model. They refunded me the extended warranty payment at least. Then I got an obi200, this has lasted less than a year (yay! warranty this time!!!), and now ill have to have it replaced. Hopefully, their support will honor the warranty. All the others that I own are not yet a year old and are being used by family members. I like the product, when it works... but my experience is that they break way too often and they might only last you a year. Still a good deal with google voice, but just a pain to be without a telephone waiting for replacements. Might be worth buying 2... just to have one while waiting for a replacement.

Great idea, lousy product
April 14, 2016
Great idea, lousy product.I really want to like this thing, but it just won't work right, even after an exchange, and has poor customer support. The problem may be in the OBiLine adapter, but I need the whole package to work for the way I am using this. Problems:- Occasional blasts of dial tone (DTMF) while in a call.- Does not recognize the CallerID about 5% of the time, although other phones on the line do.- Message Waiting Light goes on for a few hours, off for a few hours so it is easy to miss a message.- Fails to dial outgoing calls about 5% of the time.- Poor customer support, they don't respond to email or online forms; said to "look in the forums" when they were stumped. This thing is for people who don't need reliable phone service. Maybe the next generation will work better, whenever that comes out. If another similar product will meet your needs, get that.
Device not working properly
March 4, 2016
I'm having trouble configuring the OBi202 device with my (4) phone lines. I've contacted OBi customer support via their website and email. They take days to respond and didn't give a full explanation on how to correctly set up the device with 4 different phone numbers. Their suggestion was to put the OBi in the DMZ setting in my router's configuration so the router won't block any incoming/outgoing traffic from VoIP, which I did. The device still doesn't seem to support (4) phone lines as the description claims. I've emailed Obihai technical support again on March 1st, and have yet to receive a response.Any help configuring the Obi device with (4) different phone numbers to a (4) line phone would be greatly appreciated.
Voice Quality, Caller ID, and Connection Problems - couldn't get it to work with CallCentric
June 24, 2015

Frequent Software updates caused us to lose lots of calls
March 16, 2015
My biggest beef with this program is that the software had to be updated constantly and the service would stop working because it wasn't updated. We wouldn't know until a customer would get in touch with us by some other means and let us know that they called and called and couldn't' get in touch with us. It was very aggravating. It would be so much better if the software would auto update, but it didn't and so we had several times where we wouldn't get our phone calls.
Product didn't perform
October 16, 2013
I purchased the product in April and in October it seemed to have quit working. I can make calls through the OBI device, but it will no longer ring the phone when a call comes in. The google voice works well on the cell phone and the other house phone, so it does not appear to be a google voice problem, the only issue is the signal coming through the ObI (OBI202).I am finding getting service from OBI difficult, as it is only though the web, no phone number is provided.I found the initial setup was difficult and the line 2 did not work. It took a total reset of the device to finally get it set up correctly. It worked well from April to October, then stopped ringing.
Promising initially but constantly loses IP address, has echo, often poor audio quality and other issues.
May 25, 2013
After reading all the positive reviews, I expended quite a bit of dough on this unit a few months ago as well as the WiFi USB link for an additional $25 and even as a non-critical backup line the results have been mostly disappointing. I was hoping to save money on my main phone's calling plan during lengthy work conference calls but the sound quality has been so spotty and the reliability itself so problematic, that I can not even use it for that purpose. I have very reliable high-capacity internet service so its very unlikely that connectivity is the root cause; though I suspect the Obihai device or configuration I am running is simply very, very vulnerable to short glitches in that service perhaps. Maybe if I give up the WiFi USB link? If anyone has any ideas, I am open to solutions - I simply don't have any more time to expend on more FAQs, emails, calls and more detective work to resolve this.

Very hard to cancel service one you sign up.
August 10, 2017
I purchased an Ooma Telo box as part of my cord cutting attempts. It worked OK. Voice quality was good but not great. Service was good. But then I ended up back on a triple play plan with phone service with one of the major telecom companies, and I tried to cancel the Ooma service. That is when it got interesting. There is no place on their website to cancel payment, no place on their website to try and cancel service, you cannot remove your credit card from their records. You have to call them to cancel service, and they try really hard to get you to not cancel. After they tell you that you are cancelled, you still get billed. Ugh. I had to call the credit card company to get them to block this vendor. Ooma was not so bad until I went through this.
Cannot use dialing card to dial international number!
March 18, 2017
I used to use OOMA to dial a calling card, then dial an international number. Recently I found the calling card no longer can be used. I can dial to the calling card access number, but when I continue dialing the international number it will be disconnected. If I use cell phone, everything works. This is my online conversation with OOMA customer support. Buyer should be aware that using calling card to call international number is NOT guaranteed! You: what happened was I can dial to the calling card company. You: after I dial the international number it will get disconnected You: but when i dial from my cell phone everything works. H..a: Ooma has an international call plan and for international numbers, it is not a guarantee that will work with Ooma.
mixed feelings
August 29, 2016
Ooma worked fine for 30 days. Then I didn't get any calls for a week - the week immediately after cancelling their premium service. When you port a number into Ooma they set it up as a secondary number without telling you. On myooma.com, your login changes to the ported number making it appear the ported number is the primary number like anyone would expect. The second you cancel ooma premiere, your ported number will stop working with no notification and no explanation, and your myooma.com login will no longer work either -- unless you happen to remember the temporary ooma number assigned when you originally got the service. Why does this happen? Ooma sets up your ported number (the one you want) as a secondary number instead of primary without telling you. The 'secondary number' is a feature of ooma premier, so it stops working when ooma premiere is cancelled. Therefore anyone with a ported number who cancels premiere will have their service disrupted. It is simple to get it turned back on thankfully. A chat with tech support will fix it in about 10 min, if you can get into myooma.com by remembering the temporary number. I'm not sure what I would have done without that number. At best this is a mistake on ooma's part that causes unnecessary disruptions to phone service for users with ported numbers. At worst they are doing this on purpose to get confused users to turn the premium service back on (and pay for it) to get their ported number working again.Ooma's web site says: "Once your number has been successfully ported to Ooma, it will replace your temporary number as the default phone number for your Ooma account. Your temporary number will be released back into the pool of available numbers." This is simply not true, as the temp number was not released and the ported number was not made primary.I did like the service, but going without calls for a week brought me from a 5 to 2. We'll see how the next few months go.

August 13, 2016
The Telo is very confusing to set up if you're not a geek. Once it is set up, you have to wait several weeks for the phone number to be "ported", then you have to rewire everything again. The directions are inadequate for including a fax/copier/printer in the set up. While the printer would photocopy, it would not print out an email document or a typed document. I spent many hours trying various wiring combinations to get my printer working again and finally gave up. The next day while I was playing FreeCell, the printer magically started spitting out sheets I'd tried to print the day before. The Telo does reduce my phone bill, but I have a phone/internet package. Without the package, Frontier increased my internet charge leaving my bill not much less than originally. My computer is also running more slowly now.
Porting was miserable
April 5, 2016
Aside from an echo, which Ooma acknowledges as an item in the survey, voice quality is the same as a landline. I can't call it HD. Maybe if you called another VOIP customer you would notice better call quality. I have to rate it as "acceptable".The premium features, most notably, blacklisting is great. The other features like mp3 in email from voice mail are nice also. Everything else is roughly par for a VOIP service offering.Where they REALLY fall short is on porting. It worries me that many people will give up and not spend almost 14 hours and 10 days with moving the number NOT TO OOMA - to Bandwidth, their third-party carrier. I had no idea that this was farmed out. On one particular 3 way call, Ooma engaged Bandwidth to see how the ticket for the port had gotten lost in the shuffle. It was quite alarming as a customer to see the klunky inner workings. Ultimately the number was ported. My local telco told me they had never had an issue like this with any other company and that most port requests were handled inside of 1-2 days!If you are moving your number, I would use Google Voice and utilize the forwarding.
sound quality was poor - tinny - with different good phones
April 3, 2016
Well, it works but not very well. Basically, if you live in a big city and have top of the line internet and the money to buy an expensive handset, this might save you money. But in my rural area, sound quality was poor - tinny - with different good phones. Then if we used internet at the same time as talking on phone - forget it. Customer service at Ooma is nonexistent. They tell you what they can, same thing over and over. I'm very competent at setting up networks and tried all the options. No go.So for $130 this is a ripoff. In order to give it a fair trial and try all the options...I missed the return/exchange period. Awful.

Unhooked old desk top phone and installed new line with the cordless phone. Nothing works. shows NO LINE on screen. Does not work.

Both phones worked well for about 6 months. Suddenly one of the handsets began showing a "no battery" message when there is clearly a battery in the phone. We replaced the battery, thinking perhaps the battery was defective, however the phone still is showing the "no battery" message. The phone won't charge so therefore it's unusable.
Sound
November 11, 2016
Phone worked fine at first, but now as it's being used, the sound get quieter and quieter, and we can't hear the person on the other end. We've used it for less than 3 months. Definetely would not recommend this phone.
Unresponsive buttons
July 29, 2016
Do not buy these phones. My V-Tech phones from 7 years ago work better.
They are immensely unresponsive to all button presses. "Click.....blurp, click...... blurp, click..........blurp."
I am annoyed every time I use them.
Pay more, look elsewhere. I hope I convinced you.

It didn't work for me.
October 14, 2017
Right out of the box this thing did not work. I followed the instruction exactly, Wasted two hours with troubleshooting procedures on their website and still no results. The phone port is dead, I sent it back
It works great for calls

This does not work with fax. It works great for calls, but not as fax. Tried contacting support, but they were notvery responsive.
HAWAII AND ALASKA BEWARE
September 9, 2017
If you live in the 48 contiguous states, I'm sure this OBi/Google voice works great.BUT OBi should prominently disclose to people who live in Hawaii and Alaska that they will NOT be able to use Google Voice, since Google "doesn't support Hawaii and Alaska area codes," which means that you can NOT even port your existing number, which is insane. I spent a long time researching the best voip device and then paid for overnight shipping, only to learn this by searching the message boards. Once again another company (Google) that only cares about money and not about their customer's time, business, or experience. I will be returning the OBi Google Voice device and switching all my business (email, cloud drive, calendar, voice, etc.) to another company.

stop working after less than a month.. no option to return??!
1 of the 3 I use does not work... Keeps going offline,
November 7, 2016
Not sure how to return but this is the 3rd OBI200 device I've setup and this is the only one that goes offline. Would like to request a return ASAP. I would say 2 times a day I have to power off and power it back on to get it to work.I have 2 others and they work great.Once I can return this one and get a new one I will change it back to a 5 star as its a great product when working.

Poor policies. Read the warranty!
September 30, 2016
Poor product, horrible warranty. Product died within 8 months, contacted support and I have to pay to return the faulty unit! And there is no guarantee that it will resolve the issue.
This Is A Major Pain
August 2, 2016
My OBi202 has stopped working with a message "No Service Configured". I can't find a way to fix it. The instructions don't work and are complicate technical jargon for geeks only (maybe?) and there is no technical support. You can pay for it but I can't even figiure out how to do that. Their website is inscrutable. Maybe the company is out of business. I can't find any help. Guess I will have to buy an Ooma. Buyer Beware!!!

Item arrived early. But just used it a little and its already very faulty. When I call another party on a cellphone or land line, i can hear what the other party is saying but the other party cant hear what i am saying at all. And i hear my voice echo when i try to speak to other party. its a total shame
Very unreliable!
May 26, 2016
I bought this as a cost-effective VoIP replacement for a regular telephone landline. The setup was rather frustrating but I eventually got it to work. I used this in conjunction with a Google Voice account. Overall, this solution proved to be absolutely unreliable. When calling from some numbers the device rang the phone attached to it. However, when calling from some other numbers, the calls go directly to voice mail even though the phone is not in use. Overall, this may be suitable as a secondary phone line, maybe for a teenager in a household that already has some other line(s). However, this is not reliable enough to be used as a main phone line, nor for any type of business use when you really want to be able to be reached by your current or potential customers.

spent 3+ hours but still not connecting, defective products as MAC address and series number didn't match what's printed on the item. A friend bought exact same item without any issue with connection and he is not able to connect my unit. The worst thing was return window is too short plus no way to contact seller at all. If the seller willing to replace the item I will consider change my review rating. Thanks.
Great at first....
June 14, 2015
I have used the Obi 202 for 2 years and had no major problems in that 2 years... mostly dropped calls. I use the box with Google Voice. Google recently forced me to change my password, no problem. Went to use the phone and it would not work. The automated message said I needed to log in to Obi to update my password. Ok, figured no problem. I log in, and Obi won't let me put in the new password WITHOUT paying for one year of tech support because my device is out of warranty. I don't want tech support, I just want to put in my password. Total B.S.

Slick setup, cannot cancel or change service
September 19, 2016
Physically, technically this is a great product. Setup could not be easier, just a few clicks and plugs and your making calls. Voice quality was good, features (for premium) is really nice. The issue come when you want to cancel your service. Ooma will not answer the 'billing dept' phone, literally ever (I sat on speakerphone 2 hours jamming the hold music). I think its a critical part of signing up for a service like this, support. So far Ooma is an epic fail on that side. So let the buyer beware
Warning included
April 28, 2016
I liked it until I didn't have use for it. I planned on re-selling this product, and they wouldn't allow me to cancel my account. Instead, they only gave me an option of suspending charges for 3 months while I looked for a buyer. Suspending the account meant I wouldn't be able to sell it as they would void any activation on it. It's my property and I should be able to sell it without you having to hold my payment information hostage!!!
Easy setup-Terrible call quality
February 8, 2016
We purchased the Ooma Telo and HD2 Headset with the hopes of reducing our Time Warner cable bill. We are running 30mbs internet, significantly more than the required service.Out of the box, setup was very easy and took less than an hour total. That is where the ease of use ended. Initially, we had decent call quality but noticed a slight delay on the sound from the person called. This proved challenging (constant talking over of each other) but something we felt we could live with. Over time, the call quality degraded to the point where incoming and outgoing calls were unrecognizable. At one point, everyone sounded like robots out of star wars, funny once, irritating after that. The HD2 Headset left a lot to be desired. The call quality was horrendous. It was nearly impossible to hear anything on the handset and every call seemed muffled and amplified the delay. Very quickly we went back to our conventional cordless phone. We recently deactivated our account and went back to Time Warner cable phone service. A call to the Ooma customer service department reaffirmed our decision, Call quality into their tech center was terrible as well. Overall very disappointed in the device and would not recommend the service.
I think that it's the Ooma since my last phone was also a VOIP system through my IPS and it worked fine.
April 12, 2015
The audio drops out for five to ten seconds multiple time during most phone calls. Ooma blames my Internet service provider and my internet service provider blames Ooma, I think that it's the Ooma since my last phone was also a VOIP system through my IPS and it worked fine.
Terrible service from Ooma.
March 23, 2015
Terrible service from Ooma. For over 2 months, several chat and phone sessions I was never able to make outgoing calls from ported number. Online chat said they would send replacement unit, phone said no. Switched back to Vonage and it was working in 3 days. Now I have to file a claim with my credit card company against Ooma for services charged and not delivered, and for Ooma device.
Saving money - Yay! Also, some tips for new subscribers. UPDATED Nov 10 2015.
October 16, 2014
UPDATE - Nov 10 2015: I moved to downgrade service as I almost never use this line. I discovered that without paying $15/month for premium service, you don't even get caller ID. Other online services give this to you for free. Also, the downgrade process required a phone call (can't do it online) of more than ten minutes of back and forth that I did not want a special offer or any other deal. They really do not want you doing it. The phone rep actually had to "talk to my supervisor" before he could do it. I would give this five stars if you need and use all premium features. One star if you do not. As a result of this, I'm going to fully disconnect the lines.NOTE: If you want better pricing, call and threaten to cancel. They effectively were willing to give me a year of premium service for $40 instead of $120+ taxes.I have AT&T U-Verse and have had zero quality or performance issues. Easily ported my number in and started saving money. One note to new installers; when you first plug it in, give it a bit of time. Mine showed a red error light for a very long time before it finally switched to the all-is-working Blue indicator. I would say it was at least 15 minutes on red.One note regarding number porting from AT&T. If you plan to make multiple changes, do the number port LAST. I also wanted to cancel my cable subscription, but initiated the number port first. That took a number of days and during that time I could not make other adjustments to the account. AT&T reps assured me that my file had a note so that they could prorate the bill, but they didn't. It was about $8 and I couldn't justify the time fighting about it. Five stars for Ooma... one for AT&T.
