Side by Side Comparison of: Mr. Coffee vs Capresso

I was thrilled when I saw the replacement pitcher for my Mr. Coffee iced tea maker, and placed an order. A couple days later, I received the entire iced tea maker, which I thought was odd. I only ordered the pitcher replacement. Not sure what happened then, but there it was.We do consume a lot of iced tea, all year long, and entertain crowds, so it will come in handy. The original one lasted 5-6 years, so I would think this one will too. Glad I could get just the pitcher, even though I got the whole thing.

Bought as a replacement jug for my ice t maker and it fit perfectly. It comes with the teabag Holder as well. Everything except the machine portion/heating element. Works on the original machine. The original mr coffee icet maker was given to us for our wedding 10 yrs. Ago and this replacement fits. :-)

I have an older machine, which is the 1.7 model and I bought this replacement pitcher hoping I could use it with my machine. It does. The pitcher with its brewing lid is the right height for my older machine and it brews the tea perfectly. There are some improvements: there is a frosted finish on the sides of the pitcher that make the *water* and *ice* lines easier to see, and I like this teal color a lot more than my old purple top and the plastic seems to be a bit heavier.I made the tea my usual way with 8 single tea bags, wanting to compare to my old pitcher. The tea was weaker, but I think it is because of the larger volume of the pitcher--it holds a full 2 quarts while the old pitcher held 1.7 quarts. I will add another tea bag or two next time and it should be fine. I am very happy I found this replacement for my machine.Update on December 11, 2015: I still love this pitcher, and bought a second one for entertaining--I can make tons of tea now. For me, 10 tea bags is the magic number for this two quart pitcher. And I have discovered that even though it says to hand wash, it goes through my dishwasher very nicely (no drying cycle).

My old tea maker is going great, and I have another one like it in a box in reserve that I had bought to get a replacement pitcher when I couldn't find them. It's the pitchers, the clear part, that breaks down after a while (I use mine all the time). I was delighted to find replacement pitchers at a reasonable cost. I bought two! It comes with everything, new lid and the part where the tea steeps. Now I can have a pitcher made up and one ready to go at a moments notice when we entertain. Living in the South, we go through a lot of iced tea!!

you can't go wrong with this puppy; unless you put it in the dishwasher and cram the lid into it. then you get to listen to it make crazy noises as the plastic splinters and cracks. note to self: don't put it in the dishwasher

Too bad that these pitchers never last as long as the brewer does! They eventually crack from the heat and if you use them as often as my wife does, that does not take long at all. For a while there my wife just bought a new brewer when she needed a new pitcher because the cost of a pitcher along with shipping, it was just a couple of dollars difference to just buy a whole new thing. But this time we just ordered several pitchers and got a break on shipping. The pitchers we ordered here are in original Mr Coffee boxes and are brand new. We have yet to wear a brewer out so we'll see how many pitchers we go through before a brewer bites the dust!

Amazing!! I have my ice tea in 10 minutes. That is total time. Putting everything in to the brewer!I did dome of the reviews before purchasing. Not one time has mine leaked water.

Very happy with this purchase. I was worried about some of the reviews, but I went ahead anyway and got it, and I'm glad I did. This makes the best ice tea ever! We've had a Mr. Coffee for years and I must say this tea is much better. I love the glass carafe and attribute it to the fresher tasting tea.

Awesome Device for refreshing iced tea. Owned other brands and this one with the glass carafe has been THE BEST!

This makes a pitcher at a time, fine if that is all you want, or if you have another container to fill.

I needed a replacement pitcher for my Mr coffee tea maker and I am just disappointed that this replacement pitcher cost as much as buying a whole new brewer

I have to order a new pot every year. I make tea everyday in the summer and some days 2 or more pots a day. The plastic just doesn't seem to hold up very long.

Old pitcher broke after years of heavy use. Glad we could order just the pitcher and not have to buy a whole new setup. Whatever tea my wife uses stains the pitcher over time, but as long as you're not using it for fancy functions, that's just a natural side-effect.

The reason for 4 stars is that the replacement brew basket doesn't have the valve to allow steeping the tea. I like my tea strong, so that part is unusable. However, I bought this solely for the pitcher, as I am continually breaking the handles off. This actually seems a little sturdier. The blue lid fits on the original yellow basket, which looks kind of fun. I bought 2, they arrived on time, well packaged, & in perfect condition. I would buy again, as long as I only need the pitcher.

This replacement pitcher for the Mr. Coffee TP1 is very solid and a better make than the original. However, the brew basket is inferior to the original one. This is because the original (red) brew basket has a release lever that allows the tea to brew in the brew basket until it gets to the desired strength. Then the lever is released to allow the brewed tea to drop and mix into the water. The new (blue) brew basket does NOT have such a lever.So keep your red brew basket that came with the original pitcher and use it with the new pitcher. It will work just fine.

I am glad I found this pitcher. I had dropped mine and it broke. I wish, however, Mr. Coffee would have a replacement pitcher without all the blue filter and two lids. I am sure this boosted up the cost and I just ended up throwing them away as all I needed was the pitcher.

Got it for my mother and she loves it

The circumference of the pitcher is just slightly smaller and the old tea strainer fits very tightly. Also it came with a absolutely uselesss tea strainer that fits but does not have switch and assembly to raise to drain the tea into the pot after steeping.

We bought this for the pitcher which perfectly replaces our old one; however, the basket lacks the lever that releases or holds in the water for brewing. I thought at first that perhaps ours was accidentally left off, but from the other reviews I see that it is no longer included, although the basket has the physical properties that indicate that it was designed as our other, to include this lever. Fortunately, our original basket was in good shape, so we are able to chunk the blue one that came with this pitcher.

Brewing basket has been modified from the original. Not quite as effective as the one shipped with the brewer but you can always re-use the original if it is not broken. Pitcher is identical dimensions as the original.

I had hoped this pitcher would line up to the tea maker to make tea like the original one, but it didn't. It does hold the same amount though. Guess I'm still looking for the original.

The pitcher and lids arrived fast and work great. The lids sometimes stick and are hard to take out but that's not a biggy. I'm glad to be having fresh iced tea again thanks to the pitcher.One thing that I definitely did NOT appreciate however, was that the shipping charge was more than the item itself. I did a one click so it was too late. If I'd realized that beforehand, I probably would not have purchased it. I thought I was saving money by just getting the pitcher, but with the shipping cost added, I ended up paying more than what a new unit costs. I seriously doubt it costs a whole $11 to ship a light $7 pitcher. So with the shipping cost it was a rip off.

I Love the ice tea maker we live on sweet tea in my house the pitcher is so/so it could be better but its the only one that goes with my ice tea maker so kind of between a rock and a hard place. Not to much I can say about it. This is the third pitcher we've gone through each lasted about a year but the first two we followed the instructions and used ice. First one cracked in the dishwasher, second one just mysteriously broke.This one we've tried a different method we fill the water line per usual then pour in the machine, then we fill to the water line again instead of using ice, put the brewer with the tea bags on, and then start the machine.It seems to be holding up, but i wish it was dishwasher safe

I like the way this makes iced tea but I've had it less than a year & it broke. The switch broke & it will no longer turn on.

This works fine, but the pitcher is incredibly thin glass. I'm surprised we made it a few months before we broke it. I'm buying a new pitcher because my husband wants it. He makes iced tea almost daily and doesn't like using the plastic pitcher. I wish I could find a better quality product, with a larger pitcher!

This is a decent ice tea maker, and the pitchers are nice. There are two design problems with it, the mark on the pitcher is too high. If you fill the pitcher to the water mark, it overflows the water tank. The water tank also has a place at both the front and the back where water that's poured in leaks around the water tank. Water has to be poured in exactly right or it makes a pretty good mess.

Didn't fit the tea maker like it said.

This was a replacement purchase and we are leaking yet again. Not worth it

the cover doesn't fit at all. I thought it fit inside the pitcher as shown. It's a little too big for the pitcher. I haven't done anything with it because I thought I ordered the wrong thing, since it says replacement pitcher. But I was sent this rating request again and I think the cover should fit. Let me know if I'm wrong

We have used this brand name for many many years. Unfortunately, the current piticher and lid cannot be run through the dishwasher, it will warp. I don't understand why over the past 30 years the previous versions were dishwasher safe and now this pitcher has to be handwashed. Very frustrating.

I bought this to replace a broken pitcher and after just a few months, this one broke too. Will be looking for a new iced tea maker rather than replace the pitcher again.

The orignal pitcher for my iced tea maker had a notch in the front at the bottom of the pitcher that a little leg thingy from the actual maker went into. Apparently, not all iced tea makers have this since the replacement didn't and I can't get the pitcher close enough to the maker to make iced tea. I now have an iced tea maker and a pitcher that are funtional, but they totally useless since they don't fit together. I was very careful when reading the description and it said it would fit my model number.

Capresso, we wanted this to work well. We drink iced tea year round. Thought this might do the trick and be easier to make loose leaf iced tea. It worked for a couple of months flawlessly then it started leaking out of the L side of the reservoir. The water that leaks is clear, so the leak is before the tea. We've tried everything. Can't say how many times we took it apart and put it back together again. We take the filter basket and whatever holds the basket out, wash, rinse and put on the drainboard to dry. Wipe out the inside where the basket and holder go and leave the lid to the reservoir and the filter area open. Today, I went to make tea, and there was white, mold or mildew in the base where the basket and filter go. We're running straight vinegar through it now. Hopefully, it will clean out well. It is still going to leak. I've continued to use it in spite of the leak by putting a smaller baking sheet underneath, so water doesn't get everywhere. At this point, if the white stuff doesn't go away, I'm just going to donate it. Such a waste of money. To make things worse, we liked it so well, in the beginning, we bought two more and gave away as gifts. I've warned the folks to whom we gave them as gifts that ours is now leaking and to watch for the mold/mildew. Sorry, Capresso. You screwed up making this model. I like your other products.

The first 3 days were awesome , no leaking and breed quickly. However on the 4th day the pitcher bottom cracked when I was put ice in it. Guess I will buy replacement pitcher

The price paid for this thin plastic pitcher is already ridiculous, but then I learned that the item warps in the dishwasher. What would it cost the manufacturer to make it safe for a dishwasher? Another nickel?As it is, and at LEAST. . .this should be front and center in the product description.

A month after purchasing this unit, the glass pitcher cracked as I was stirring the tea. Thinking it was an accident, I purchased another glass pitcher and within two weeks, it broke as I set it on the counter after pouring a glass of tea. It is clear that the glass pitcher is very thin and can not stand up to normal use. I would not recommend this to anyone as the machine does not operate without that pitcher/lid combo. It is very disappointing to have wasted time and money on this product and I'm back to where I started, looking for an iced tea maker.

This is the review i gave on the 2 other pitchers i bought. The machine is great but what's the point i f they keep breaking.Don't waste your money. I bought two of these pitchers and they both broke in the same exact spot. I literally place it on the counter very gently, because the first pitcher that came with the machine broke in the same spot, a piece of the bottom side just broke off. So that makes three pitchers brokem in the same exact spot

Lousy, never worked. Lousy, disgusting junk.

Product was returned. During the first cleaning cycle most of the water heated from brewing came out of the bottom of the machine. Hot water was all over my counter. I checked to make sure everything was connected correctly and tried again with the same results. This is very dangerous.In addition the pitcher which is glass is very thin and I found a crack in the glass. Avoid this product.

It leaks water from the water compartment; dripping over the start button. Requiring you to dry the counter. Pushing down on water compartment sometimes allows you to brew without leaking water.Glass pitcher is big, & holds plenty of iced tea. Brews tea in a short time, about 5 minutes.I wouldn't buy the Capresso again.
