Our dog loves it
February 12, 2017
Our boxer/Doberman mix had such food sensitivities! We switched him to this and his poop is half the size now (which means he is absorbing more- great!). And his ears are starting to get better. We do this in the am and a raw diet in the evening. I'm on my second bag so far
My 4 yr old border collie loves it and he's a finicky eater. It's a great value for its quality and ingredients...

I received a 15# bag of TOTW Pacific stream formula at beginning 11/2016. My 4yr old, 63# border collie is a finicky eater of dog food. It's hard to get him to eat even 1/2c every day of another TOTW dog food. This formula he absolutely loves. His coat and skin had become dry and lack luster. Since switching to this food he has put on weight in all the good areas, his coat is now soft and his skin isn't dry, given fact we are in the middle of winter and have had some dry and harsh cold weather-to see him not have dry and itchy skin and for his fur to have become softer is quite an accomplishment. Now he eats more than 1Cup +/ a day. He free eats and isn't prone to overeating. His build is muscular and fit. The vet says he's just right weight wise. I have found he does better with grain free dog food and treats. Being a border collie he is very active. I have found when he has dog food that contains grains, that he becomes hyperactive, less focused, and doesn't obey as well. This dog food has great ingredients. I'm a dog owner who reads dog food labels and am critical of the foods my animals eat. I find that TOTW foods meet my standards. The quality and value is excellent. I'm ecstatic that my dog is doing better with his eating. This last 15#bag lasted 3 months, I just ordered my 2nd bag of it. I'm hoping he continues to eat as good as he's been eating and doesn't tire of this formula too. If so, I will try another one of the TOTW foods. I have also given him their biscuits, which he has thoroughly enjoyed. I recommend this food formula and brand.
Good quality dog food.

I've got a couple of elderly small breed dogs: Yorkie and Lhasa Apso. When I first put it out they weren't very eager to eat it. Of course, a lot of cheap dog food may smell and taste great but is really nothing more than junk food nutritionally. And there are other foods that taste great and are good for them but cost 2-3x as much. They did eventually warm up to it though after a few days and eat it regularly now without any fuss. They don't wolf it down all in one sitting but I think that's more to do with the fact this food gets them fuller quicker because it is more nutrient dense. While they might not find it the most exciting food in terms of flavor it otherwise is doing great for their overall health and well being. The Yorkie has always been prone to spasms of loose stool and watery diarrhea, so much so that I keep a tube of pro-pectalin gel in the refrigerator just in case. Since with to ToW I haven't had to use any gel on him in quite some while. In fact the Yorkie's stool is been firm and I notice he doesn't strain as much when he does his business. The Lhasa Apso doesn't have the same stomach issues with cheaper food like the Yorkie but he has the skin problems. Now that he's on ToW he doesn't stink, his skin isn't flaking, no more hot spots, and he's not constantly scratching and biting himself anymore. After about the start of my 2nd bag I was petting my Yorkie and noticed just how much more soft and silky his hair felt. The same with the Lhasa Apso who always had a spot on his back and around the tail where the hair was stringy and thin and it's growing in thicker now. I just bought a smaller bag of the Taste of the Wild small breed food to see if they maybe like the flavor more and if the smaller kibble size helps. Though the size of the kibble of the Hi Prairie line has been manageable for them so far. The Lhasa has a few missing teeth and I notice he more carefully chews a few pieces at a time rather than a whole mouthful like he can with a smaller kibble size. I just wish they offered the small breed kibble size at the Hi Prairie price point. But alas, those are market forces at work.Update June 19th, 2016I switched flavors to the roated water fowl flavor after the bison flavor went back up to the same price. I knew the water fowl was a hit before I could even get it to the bowl. I have a sealed storage container I keep the food in and I opened the bag to pour it into the container my dogs ran in from the living room and were sniffing wildly at what was in the bag. I scooped it out into their bowl and they both instantly tried to dive in at the same time. The Lhasa Apso growled wildly and snapped at the Yorkie (who's usually the dominant one of the group) and made it known he had first dibs. The Lhasa took several big mouthfuls and chomped it down but then walked away with the bowl still half full letting me know that it was filling nutrition. The Yorkie then came in and polished the bowl off. A several hours later the Yorkie was kicking the bowl around the room letting me know he wanted more food. I put a little more out and they both happily wolfed it down. I'm guessing the water fowl flavor is their favorite :-D
My favorite dog food in the world!

This is our go to dog food that we use here. We have two Akitas, so we HAVE to use a grain free food. Akitas have super allergic skin that is prone to hot spots and itchiness and after years of expensive vet visits and prescriptions, we discovered that a grain free food solves Akita skin issues! Now there are cheaper brands of grain free food at your local Walmart or Target, but they are NOT the same.I have tried several cheaper brands, even name brands that are reputable. However, every single time I use them, the dogs have hot spots after eating one dish of the food, and they eat twice as much of the food. An immediate indication of a true high protein, grain free food is that your dog will eat at least 1/3 to 1/2 less than they do of what I call "junk food." It's the same as if we eat a high protein, lots of fresh veggie meal compared to fast food burgers and fries! Taste of the Wild is the "real deal."My dogs eat much less of this food, have zero issues with their skin, and it is in my opinion as good as the $20-$30 more per bag dog foods you can buy. I have used the $70 a bag food for my dogs and they did equally as well, but WHY would anyone spend more for dog food if this one is just as good?I recommend Taste of the Wild to everyone I know. My mother in law put her super overweight cat on the cat food Taste of the Wild, and she lost 10 pounds within 6 weeks! Not only that, but the steroids the doctor prescribed for her skin were no longer needed once the old cat food was fully out of her system which takes 4-6 full weeks. All in all we LOVE Taste of the Wild and can't sing it's praises enough! The price here is the same as it is at my local Tractor Supply store, and I have the convenience of 2 day delivery without having to lift and tote a huge bag of food, so I am loving ordering it!
Kibble Size: Puppy vs. Canine Formula

Excellent quality grain-free food at a good price
June 3, 2011
I've done hours and hours of homework on high quality, grain-free dog foods. From product analysis, kcal analysis, ingredients, customer reviews, professional reviews, company recalls - all of it... I have become a mini-expert in the field.I was pushed into becoming an expert because my yellow Lab kept having seizures and I couldn't figure out the source. I finally learned it was her food, which was the most expensive store bought brand my local Sams Warehouse carries. I thought I was giving her the best, it looked fresh and rich, but it turns out it was just absolutely terrible food. My black Lab also had terrible skin allergies, to the point where I would get a small rash on my skin if he laid next to me on the couch for more than 5 minutes at a time. I had no clue it was because of the food. But it was!Since having that epiphany and learning so much about dog food, I've always made sure to feed them the highest quality grain free food I can buy. This Taste of the Wild (TOTW) fits the bill very nicely, and they love it. Since switching to a grain free diet, the yellow lab has not had any more seizures in over a year, and the black lab has the silkiest coat you've ever seen and his skin allergies are completely gone. They are on 2/3rds dry and 1/3rd wet combination. Contrary to what I had previously been raised to believe, a wet diet is not bad for dogs but in fact is superior! I use the combination to save money while providing them the best I can. Before deciding on TOTW, I had also tried Blue Buffalo, Wellness Core, and Orijen. Briefly: they are all good foods, but my labs were happiest on TOTW and my wallet is also happiest on TOTW. I also believe TOTW has a better formulation for them and their life style (some of the products, like Orijen, are simply too rich for the average household dog, despite being made of the best ingredients available).Enter TOTW. The dry food is dark and rich, with no sign of crumbling. The kibble is a good average size. The wet food has nice chunks of meat and the right amount of gravy. I use the wet food as a topper to mix the 2/3rd dry and 1/3rd wet together for their meals. I use one whole can of wet per meal with my pack, which is convinient so I don't have to store it in the refrigerator - btw, never store canned dog food in the fridge in the original aluminum container!I still wish I could find a less expensive product with the same quality, but in the mean time, TOTW is the best choice for my pack.

An Oldie and Goodie
March 2, 2017
After feeding TOTW to my cat for 5 yrs I moved to a location that didn't have any stores nearby that carried it. I went through several other brands from local stores trying to find one that was healthy, the cat liked, and didn't make us go broke. I finally gave up and ordered TOTW off Amazon. Just got my bag and seeing him dig right in made me know I made the right choice!FIY, my cat does not seem to like kibble that is salmon flavored but seems ok with the venison and salmon. I believe the other is just fish and he didn't seem too crazy last time I tried it.
Happy, healthy kitties!
July 27, 2016
With 42% protein, this is a great, lower-cost high quality cat food for cats with dietary sensitivities or other restrictions. My three cats, two of whom were brothers (one recently passed) with similar chronic stomach issues, have successfully been on this food for years. While it still has chicken and fish "meal," in it, it *does* also contain high-grade animal protein in a larger quantity than other foods at this price point. The fish meal is also much lower down the list of ingredients (the further down the list an item is, the less of it there is in the food), which is great because fish meal often contains the organs of fish, and therefore has greater potential for mercury. Just like with people, small amounts of mercury aren't an issue, but even small amounts can be irritating to a sensitive kitty tummy. Since the fish meal is listed lower than the high quality salmon, my kitties get to enjoy the flavor of fish white I can rest assured that of the fish inside, there is more high-quality fish than not.Furthermore, my cats are all healthy, have glossy coats, and high activity level (including the elderly, 15+ year old cat) on this food. They are excited to eat it, and while the younger cat has gained weight on the food, its because he's a chow-hound and would eat the entire bag in one sitting if I let him. The fact that the food is appetizing enough that he'll dive into it like Scrooge McDuck in a pile of gold says a lot. :)As an added bonus, their eliminations (both #1 and #2) are very low odor! So, overall, there may be some other cat foods out there that are even healthier, but you'd be paying an arm and a leg more. For the price, there's nothing better out there as far as dry kibble goes. :)
Great Choice For Cat Food
November 14, 2015
I ended up switching over to this stuff because I had moved my cat outside and he'd started losing a considerable amount of weight just due to the extra activity. Originally I'd been using Science Diet, and I was simply looking for a fattened up version for "active" cats, but in the midst of that research I found out that multiple sources cited Science DIet as being full of filler, and not overly nutritional to begin with. I ran through what they had reviewed positively and came across this.I found this to be very affordable, more natural and nutritous, but I also really like the idea that they build the pellets around a flavor group that would appear in a similar geographic area. My cat certainly hasn't disagreed.
My cat's favorite dry.
August 3, 2015
My cat eats this well. Small pieces and this is her second bag. She maintains lean body and her fur is this thick and shiny. She was overweight and hungry all the time on another brand. I am happy with this and she is too. She is a fish lover and consistently eats this flavor. I have senior dogs on this brand and they are doing very well. I prefer grain free food for all.
the very best for your cat.. hands down
March 17, 2015
my cat loves it.. no stink in the litter box now.. im Not kidding.. she eats no wet and a skin condition VANISHED after getting her on a non gluten diet.. my vet suggested this .. not this brand an all meat diet.. salmon, venison.. what could better than this.. i eat the same foods .. well NOT cat food, human food grass fed venison.. salmon , in season.. my kitty bertha lost 2 pounds of .'bloat weight" [ she 6 now] from grocery store cat food. i also recommend KONG cat nip. { on amazon}. all her sisters, around the neighborhood come and roll around, and i put a bowl of taste out for them.. Food is fresh, but dog doesn't love it
September 9, 2017
The food seems good quality and fresh. As soon as I got it, I transferred it to a 25 gallon sealed dog food container, so was able to see the kibble at the very bottom of the bag (which became the top of the bag). The quality was the same throughout. There was no funny smell, and seemed like great dog food.My Shiba Inu doesn't like it by itself, that's why it's got the star off. As far as I can tell, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the food. He's just over the top picky. It gets 4 stars for being a good food, as he has no adverse effects eating it at all. However, I can't give it 5 stars unless he likes it.The dog food is packed in a waterproof bag and compared to other foods I've fed him, it's very reasonably priced, and gives you more food than most other dog food brands (30 lbs vs 25 lbs). My dog WILL eat Instinct brand, but this is the much better price, so I'll mix it with canned or some leftovers to get him to finish it.
Great dog food if you can get it!
February 15, 2017
This is really great dog food. The only real problem is that it's not regularly offered by Amazon.com. I've struggled to regularly source it through the subscribe and save service. I'd have no hesitation in recommending the food as I don't think there's a "better" food at this cost point, particularly for 30-pound bags. This is a major consideration for those of us with large breeds whose dogs eat like horses! By no fault of Taste of the Wild, I have switched my dog to Core Wellness Large Breed due to the issues with stocking.
Price Increase Reduces Value
January 28, 2017
This food used to be $43-44 with Prime. Price increase makes it not worth it - this used to be a high quality food at a good price, but this increase puts it in the same price point as much better dog foods.
Pup loves it; I can't say I'm as thrilled...
May 6, 2016
My first dog as an adult, Caridad (basenji/pit/several-other-dogs-in-there mix) , had tons of allergies. She liked this food well enough and it cleared up her allergies and helped her maintain a nice coat. She seemed to get a bunch of UTI's though. She died abruptly in 2015 for reasons unknown. I think she may have gotten exposed to Lyme disease. The vet, however, did not take my concerns seriously due to my geographic location (despite CDC repots of people being exposed in the same open space preserve park my mother took her to).I got a new puppy after some months and contined feeding her on the same bag I'd shrink wrapped from when Caridad died. Nelly is a American Pit with a tiny touch of Frenchie on the side. She ate this food heartily without weight gain and at first. We bought another bag and then I noticed she seemed bloated as and gassy. At first I thought it was just the way her system normally worked.... I know it sounds silly but my father assumed the same.... it's probably because she acts and sounds more like a piglet than a puppy. It's pretty cute minus the farts-- it smelled like a whale had died in there. Anyway, we ran out of food for her one time late at night after all the stores in my parents home town had closed except Safeway. My father picked up some considerably cheaper Iams Smart Puppy Chicken formula for her. She suddenly was suddenly less of a lazy farting cuddly piglet and more of a normal dog. Her gas was almost gone and when she did let ond rip it wasn't so bad anymore that everyone in the room started coughing and opening windows. She also started snoring less amd if her meal was late she wouldn't throw up like before. I put her back of Taste of the Wild when I got home and she remained energetic but the dead whale farts came back. She also seemed to get minor UTIs more often. Her coat was illustrious though.I am going to try out another grain free brand. This is good quality dog food that dogs seem to enjoy the taste of but there seems to be something in it that makes my pup gassy and bloated. She doesn't mind and she loves the taste of this food (remarkable since she is not a food motivayed dog and normally doesn't care one way or the other) but I mind it I live in an small open floor plan loft with her.
Best Price for The Quantity and Quality.
April 7, 2015
I could literally talk to you about what dog food is right for your dog for 2 straight hours or more due to the many brands with varying levels of quality and price. After more than a year working in a Animal Feed Store (periodically attending conferences on different brands of dog food) I can recommend Taste of The Wild to almost anyone. Obviously every breed, age, size, and medical condition has specific needs but this review is as a whole. (feel free to ask about specific types of dogs)I say "almost" because some breeds of dogs (specifically Toy Breeds) do not need this much protein in their diet and may have issue chewing the size of kibble. That being said, Taste of the Wild is what I refer to as the most affordable of the "Elite" grain free dog foods. If you go any cheaper a "grain free" brand will have used potatoes or sweet potatoes as a "grain free" filler agent. If you go more expensive you get arguably the same quality of food and are now helping to pay for their specific Brand name.Although this is most definitely not the premiere #1 dog food I would say it is the #1 Average Consumer dog food. Much more expensive than a bag of Walmart Brand (which is akin to what most people on a budget would feed their dog) but still affordable enough to justify the health benefits for your dogs.TLDR: I know my dog foods very very well and I buy this every 2 weeks. Above average quality, Large bag sizes, and reasonable on a budget in comparison. The Premiere Working Man's Best Friend's Food. 9/10
worth it!
February 6, 2015
Pros: my dogs scaly, red, itchy skin problem cleared up after switching from wellness to this grain, poultry free dry food.Cons: my dogs poop and farts are RANCID! I mean horrible... like the crypt keepers breath. Oh sweet baby jesus, the farts make my eyes water and and singes the hairs on my nose.BUT, the pro out weighs the con in my book. He really seems to enjoy the food and he is so much happier now that he doesn't constantly scratch and lick at his belly. All his hair has grown back and the dandruff is gone. So it's worth having to deal with the 5 day old warm sushi stench that comes out of his butt several times a day

Good healthy food that cats will eat!
October 3, 2017
I have a cat who is a kibble addict. The quality of this food is sufficient that I'm not worried about her health, especially since she is a heavy water drinker. The other cat loves wet food but will eat this if he has to, albeit a bit grumpily. There is no other health food type of kibble that either will eat, so I am very pleased to have this. If you read the ingredients of some of the cheaper brands you will shocked to find out that there is NO meat in them although the description is very crafty about insinuating that there is! A bit like congressional bills...Since these poor cats can't complain I'm vigilant about their food. Taste of the Wild is good for them.
Times are Hard
March 10, 2017
Times are hard so I was looking for a more economical dry food for my cats, reviews were positive for Taste of Wild. The price was cheaper than what i was buying at Petco (Blue Buff Wilderness) and it's 15/16 lbs. My cats took to the food no problem, no change in litter box smell and my cats seem satisfied. I should have bought 3 or 4 bags when they were $27. For the price and amount of food this is a good deal and the ingredients are pretty good also
My New Cat Licks His Lips for This Food!
January 26, 2016
Just got my cat a few days ago so this is still a fairly new thing. He's 5 years old and 10 lbs. Once he adjusted to being in our home, he took to this food right away. I think it's better quality than the one the shelter was using. He licks his lips when it comes out. :) I like that it has a lot of real meat in it and less fillers. The smaller kibble size is better for digestion too and would work nicely in a food/treat puzzle or game. Pharnsworth likes to chase the pieces of kibble if I roll them across the floor for a game. :) Minus one star because it still has a lot of vegetable matter in it that cats really don't need. But way less than other cat foods, so yay! And the price on Amazon is much better than in pet stores, so double yay!I'll update my review if anything changes.
Nobody really knows
November 3, 2015
Raw? Freeze-dried? Store bought? Canned? The jury is always out on what food is best for your cat.Personally, my two 10 year old cats been on this food for almost a year. You can definitely tell that there's more fatty acids, because one of them has developed oily fur. Apart from aesthetics, it seems that she is healthier.I'm not really sure why you'd need cranberries, and it seems like there is some debate on the other ingredients.. specifically if they're really needed. There's talk that some ingredients could also be even harmful for them. If anyone could let me know what what we've all decided on, I'd appreciate it.

May 25, 2015
Our cat enjoys the food just fine, and I like the high protein content and grain-free formula. My only complaint - and maybe this is odd - is that my cat seems to have a dirty, gross butt while she's on this food. I'm assuming her waste is a little more loose, as it gets caught in the fur, and when she sits on something after using the litter box it leaves a gross little splooch, like the most horrible lipstick mark in the world. So you can meditate on that for a while.I would buy this food all the time if it weren't for that. I'm looking for something else right now.
Shiny coats in one month
March 24, 2015
Got this food in a different flavor a month ago. My cats are very picky and at first there was no interest. So I rushed to get Trout and Salmon flavor as I really wanted them to switch to something healthy. Then in a day or so, since I wasn't giving them their regular food, I saw one of them nibbling from the plate. One cat had a soft stool. I kept giving them their favorite can food at the same time as I saw one cat started loosing weight. The new dry food was available all the time and I saw that its amount in the bowl was SLOWLY diminishing. After a month of them consuming this dry food (even though in small amounts as they never got super excited about it) I noticed that their skin condition improved and their dull coats became beautiful and shiny. The new flavor (Trout and Salmon) didn't make them super excited either. But since they prefer dry food and have no other choice they eat it. I'm giving this product 4 stars. Even though cats got shiny coats, this food is a bit expensive and none of my 3 cats really got very excited about either of 2 available flavors.

Not Authentic
July 4, 2017
Not sure this is an authentic product. The kibble is darker and smaller than the kibble in 2 seperate store bought bags. I called Taste of the Wild to see if they had changed a recipe and they said no. Our dog has a very sensitive stomach and got diarrhea from this food even though she has been eating it for the past 1.5 years!
This is a great dogfood and was a great price

Why has the price increased so much? Previous order was $45 now it's over $57? This is a great dogfood and was a great price. I'll have to look for sales elsewhere

Great dog food
July 10, 2016
Great dog food, but the price changes so much, up and down, that you can't count it being priced less than local dog store prices. Fluctuates wildly price wise. In the last month it has gone up $10 a bag for the 30 pound bag. Won't be buying until it comes down again.
My dog doesn't like it
May 8, 2016
Please read fully.Let me start here first. I have a Siberian Husky, they are very picky on what they like, so do NOT let this review sway you from ordering, your dog may like.Ok now that thats out of the way. First, the product is very "fresh" I know sounds strange for dry dog food but let me explain. The pieces are moist and smell very rich. (no I didn't eat one, but it looks good.) At first my husky really liked this when it was mixed with his simply nourish. I wanted to move him to an animal protein over the summer. (as recommended by husky breeders) During the two week transition he was ok, once it became straight this food, he started eating less and less. Now I will say this next part is not related to his food possibly directly, he has stomach issues so keep that in mind.My dog can usually go up to around 10 days without any tummy incidents. usually around day 8 or 9 his tummy makes lots of noises and usually vomits bile at some point and then goes and eats and is ok. Since the transition period is over, and its this food alone, this has been occurring every 3-4 days. And after vomiting, he doesn't even want to eat it.Again all of this is not to necessarily knock the product that much, but to describe mine and my dogs experience. Your mileage may vary. If your dog is not a picky eater and devoid of stomach issues, he may very well enjoy this. Like I said in the beginning, it smells very fresh and is moist and just seems like a god food, unfortunately my boy did to do well with it.
In dilemma right now. My dog loves this food, but not this particular package I bought! Please read.
April 13, 2015
It is so nice to have this 30lb bag right in front of your house. I was actually very very excited when I had it.My dog, Spooky, love this particular brand. The appearance should be DARKER, THICKER and SMALLER CIRCULAR SHAPE.I just opened this one yesterday, since the one I bought from local store (same brand same flavor) is out. So I had less than half a cup, so I opened the bag and check it out. The one on this package is PALE in color, THINNER and BIGGER in shape. I'll put a picture as soon as I come back from store today, since I will be buying the same brand. When I saw the difference in appearance, I was a little alarmed. Why a supposedly same food looks so different, I ask myself. But Spooky is hungry, so I put some of the food to have a half a cup of food for Spooky. I have no choice, we are leaving the house for the whole day. I packed another half a cup later tonight since we we'll be out late.******BE WARNED very detailed on what happened next.Today, he was hungry and wanted to have breakfast, and for some reason he wouldn't eat the food. We actually, he had some and vomited. He farted a very stinky smell, so I figured maybe he needs to go potty first. So we went out for a walk. After a 5 minutes of walking, he made a rumbling sound and poop. He had this massive poop and they have mucus on it. It was very soft as well. I was already alarmed, but Spooky might have to poop some more. The following poops he had along the way, was very difficult to view. They were very soft and very hard to pick up! I was heart broken seeing my baby like this.We went home, and washed him off. I gave him some of our puppy's dog food and he ate some. He loss his appetite.Edits:Image on right is the one in the right is the one bought in local store and the one in the left is the one bought from Amazon.I went in front of my computer and ask to returned the food. I don't want this food around my house. Luckily, Manju, the person who is assisting me right now is issuing me a refund. I am throwing this food as soon as I finished talking to him and writing this review. I am also calling the vet so he can see my sick Spooky. I am a little teary now. He is just laying on the floor he's usually up and ready play.Anyway, I am a still buying this product, but most likely from the local store and not from Amazon. I don't understand how same brand, same flavor, with the same expiration date, are totally different food!!!!

High protein and quality, but my cat did not like it
September 15, 2017
After reading raving reviews about this product, I decided to give it a try. I noticed that this cat food had a higher protein content, so I thought it would be better than the food my cat was currently eating. My cat got used to it very quickly, but she started to eat less and less of it. She was also asking for more wet food and preferred to eat the wet food instead of Taste of the Wild. In short, my cat did not like this food that much, so I decided to go back to a brand she was used to and liked more.
You Decide...
July 21, 2017
Taste of the Wild seems to be fairly well-tolerated by two older male kitties who are used to eating the original Orijen for years. They vomit more, and their fur is not as lustrous, not their spirits as active and enthusiastic.Other than that, they are fine with Taste of the Wild. I wanted them to have the best of foods, since we cannot afford veterinarians, which were unnecessary with Orijen. The new Orijen is probably better than Taste of the Wild, but for both tell me, please: When was the last time you caught your cat munching away on sweet potatoes or blueberries? In the wild, male cats choose 5 or so rats/birds a day, and ingest only the vegetable/fruits/berries eaten by those creatures on which they prey, which isn't much. I thank Amazon for carrying a wide range for us to choose from. And you cannot beat the delivery time!
It was recommended for cats who've been exposed to toxic mold
February 14, 2017
My cat loves it but I found out it has POTATOES in it. It was recommended for cats who've been exposed to toxic mold, but it was a mistake. He developed a fungus and has been losing hair especially noticeable above where eyebrows would be up to ears. Inner ear hair gone! :(
Raised price and $11 shipping added
January 17, 2017
My cats love this food. After chicken meal the following ingredients are peas, sweet potatoes, chicken fat, pea protein and potato protein. It is grain free but it isn't vegetable free and cats typically don't digest veggies very well. I bought this because it's price was right and free shipping under prime. Amazon increased to price to over $30.00 and added shipping of another $11+. This puts the product higher than the better "Wellness" brand so I purchased that instead.
... got the bag yesterday trying it out hoping for good results and hoping they poop less and no smell ...
May 12, 2016
Just got the bag yesterday trying it out hoping for good results with three cats and I just put them on it hopefully it helps with my one cat who seems to pee a lot but it seems to get hard and all three of their poops smell bad to the point u wanna die that strong. Been trying a lot of different brands to wear all three cats can be on it and enjoy it. They are different sizes and brands and ages so if I can find something that they all like I'm down for it. Just been getting mixed reviews and having ppl tell me I'm stuipd for changing food well I hope this works so I won't have to keep changing foods. Tried wellness, fromm, true blue and some generic food and one cat worked his away round foods and the female would throw up. The younger kitten eats anything I put in front of him lol
Change in formula? Cat refuses to eat it after ordering a second time..
November 26, 2015
I'm not sure if they changed the formula but my cat no longer eats this unless mixed in with other cat food.So I bought this stuff in the beginning of the year because what I bought before (Blue buffalo) was twice as expensive at the time. It took a while for my cat to get used to it and actually eat it, but she did and she finished the whole thing.Fast Forward to this month. I bought this cat food again and she didn't touch it at all. I thought she was just being picky like how most cats are, so I refused to feed her anything else. I cleaned her food and water bowl everyday to make sure that it wasn't the lack of cleanliness that was keeping her from eating. After a few days, I would hear her in the distance eat a couple pieces here and there, basically forcing herself to eat it. I was thinking if she was sick or not, but her mood and energy didn't change at all. So I saw that Purina had some natural food that was one of the bestsellers here on Amazon. I ordered that and she ate the entire bowl.I still have a 15LB bag of cat food to get rid of though, so I mixed this one and the Purina together. And hallelujah she eats it!

1 month ago I had given that food 5 stars, things changed. I switched our dog that was prone to seizures to totw 4 years ago and she had very little seizures, hadn't have one in over a year. The food I received in April didn't look any different to me but she was hesitant to eat the food, which she never ever was before. She had a seizure 5 days into the news batch and keeps vomiting, not good! I threw away the entire bag, racoon got in our trash and left the dog food untouched... if even a wild animal refuses to eat totw there has to be something seriously wrong
Price hike??!
February 9, 2017
First I will start off by saying this is a great dog food; it has good nutrition, grain free and my high energy dog loves it.I have been buying this food since he was a puppy (went from puppy kibble to this one) a couple years and have had no complaints. HOWEVER, with this recent 20% price hike and no longer free/prime shipping, this will be my last order and I will be looking for something else. It would be one thing if this was the price from the start, but the company obviously already had a good customer base and was making money, now they are just trying to fleece people.EDIT: Check out Chewy.com for the same thing at $49, same price as my local pet store. Will be ordering there until Amazon quits this nonsense.
Price hike
February 4, 2017
Wow! I have been feeding this food to my dog for awhile now, he really likes it but since I bought it last month, price has jumped by $20 and not prime anymore! Guess I will have to switch brands.
Price hikes have ruined this good brand.
February 1, 2017
This a great dog food. My very active Vizsla loves it. But, with the recent price hikes of $10. or more per 30 lb. bag, force me to start looking elsewhere and for another comparable brand.
Weary about this food after bloat experience
November 1, 2015
I have two Great Danes - 140 lbs and 185lbs. They both loved this food at first - they would get really excited when they heard me getting their meal ready. About the third bag in, they lost interest and went on a hunger strike for 4 days. I noticed that it firmed up one of my dog's stools, however she was audibly gassy. My other dog didn't appear to have many issues with the food other than occasional gas - until he bloated and ended up with gastric torsion as well. The dogs had been on this food for about 5 months when this occurred. Luckily, I was home when it happened and knew the signs so rushed him to the animal hospital. I take all of the preventative measures against bloat and of course no one truly knows what causes it. I personally feel this food had a lot to do with the bloat that my boy experienced. I'm not saying it is the reason he bloated but I believe it was a factor. When they performed his surgery his belly was full of this food. I have since discarded the bag and I'm looking for a new food for them. I also noticed inconsistencies between bags - some have large kibble and others have smaller rounds - very strange!
Impressed by quick and dramatic improvements
June 25, 2015
I'm updating this and will continue to do so. As you can see below, we loved this food. But we opened up the newest bag and our dog won't eat it. She'll eat other stuff and I just put some broth in her food and she's eating it now. Clearly something has changed about the formulation. And we bought two bags! I'll use broth if needed through what we have and then get a different brand, unless she starts showing willingness to eat it again without the enhancements.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxOne of our dogs had perpetual ear infections; the last one was a doozy. The vet thought it might be allergy-related and suggested we try a fish-based food with no beef or chicken products, and no wheat. Looking around, this one had the right ingredients--no grain at all1--rave reviews and way better prices than any of the others. We did a slow transition, and she's been on the TOTW salmon formula for a week now. I hadn't expected results this fast, but she's stopped scratching her ears, her runny eyes cleared up, her coat looks terrific. She loves the food and digestion seems excellent.Very very happy, and buying through Amazon means we don't worry about having to get to a pet store and hope they haven't run out, or lug big bags. thumbs up to the food, and to our vet for suggesting the switch. I'm paying more for food than with the old el cheapo brand, but overall I think her health and nutrition will be better, and we'll probably make up all the cost and then some through reduced vet visits.

My cats generally enjoy Taste of the Wild - Blue Buffalo. But not THIS particular flavor.
August 26, 2017
Let me state upfront that my cats (I have 12) love Taste of the Wild - Blue Buffalo products. But not this one. They will leave it until they absolutely have nothing else to eat, and even then they'll just nibble.I don't know if it's just this flavor, or a bad batch. But, I'll pass on this one.
This is my Cat's vote, not mine.
July 17, 2017
This is my Cat's vote, not mine. At first they ate but did not exhibit much enthusiasm. Finally they (2 cats) would leave 1/2 the serving empty until next feeding time. A sure vote that they are not crazy about this food.I kept in a tightly sealed container so I don't think it became stale. I've reverted to a Purina brand-X that they finish immediately, then look for more.

September 10, 2016
I typically buy Royal Canine brand cat food which is expensive. I chose this brand based on the reviews and the high quality ingredients. I tried introducing the food slowly by adding 10% of taste of the wild to my cats royal canine. My cat sniffed at the food then looked at me as to say what the heck is going on here.I figured my cat would get used to it. At the next feeding time, I go to refill my cat's bowl and noticed the royal canine gone and taste of the wild still in the bowl. The following week I increased the portion of taste of the wild. I still had the same result. At the next feeding, I fill his bowl with taste of the wild to see what would happen. Well my cat didn't eat. He took his paw and smashed the bowl away with his paw as if to say get this junk out of my face.I donated the contents of the bag to a local animal shelter and brought kitty along for the ride. He tried to stay as far away from the bag as possible. I put him on the harness and we walked into the shelter, and they took our donation of taste of the wild and some cans of expensive wet food that my cat would eat for a week then stop. I called them up to follow up on taste of the wild and they admitted that it took the adult cats some time to get used to it. The younger cats were more accepting of it.

June 25, 2016
I fed this to my cat for 3 years with no issues. All of a sudden, she started vomiting and getting UTI's. I would switch her to a freeze-dried cat food until symptoms went away and then switch her back to the TOTW. This cycle occurred 3 times until I realized it was the TOTW causing her symptoms. I have since been feeding the freeze-dried cat food only. She has had no problems since. I think something may have changed in the formula :(

March 15, 2016
Ive just come from my Vet, who urged me not to continue with grain free cat foods, but especially not this one. It's been a frequent problem in cats, encouraging urinary tract issues, which is about the last issue you want to have with your cat. I could elaborate, but I'm not an expert in the field, and would just urge potential users to do your research before choosing this brand in particular, and grain free cat foods in general.

October 10, 2015
This food was recommended from my vet for another cat I had that broke out from we did not know what the vet thought she was allergic to fleas. I had this cat on Royal Canine until they added soy to it and she did very well. But when they added soy as one of the main ingrediants I stopped buy that and put her on this. But now I bought a big bag and she broke out all over with hives. So guess I will donate this to the kitty shelter and look for a new food. I feel so bad for her. But I put coconut oil on her hives and they went away and she loves coconut oil. Since it is suppose to be good for losing weight and she is a big fat black cat we ;probably are killing two birds with one stone. I am going to talk to the vet but I think I will put her on canned food or a raw food diet.

MAKES DOGS SICK!!
May 4, 2017
I would give this food 0 stars if i could. This is the third bag of taste of the wild food we bought for our 2 dogs (a hound/shepherd mix and a catahoula/aussie mix) and both got sick within a few days of having this. Not sure if it's this batch or just overall Taste of the Wild food, but i WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GIVING THIS TO YOUR PETS.I had to re-write this review since amazon didn't want me to include a link to the consumer affairs article about how this food has made A TON of dogs sick, so if you're interested go search on their website and i'm sure it's easy to find.AMazon - you should take this product off of your site since it's making so many dogs sick. BUYERS BEWARE.
Latest bag was poison. Please read
April 7, 2017
I have been feeding this to our dogs for over 3 years. I have always been a big fan. Having said that I would like to warn everyone about the most recent bag I received. Everything looked the same but our pitbull wouldn't eat it or he'd eat and have an upset stomach (diarrhea and vomiting). I thought he'd gotten into something in the yard initially but he was feeling better...until I fed him again. This is a very strong, very healthy pitbull. He's getting better slowly but I would hate to see the effects on an less sturdy or aging dog. Please please keep your eye on your dog if you are feeding the salmon 30lb bag. I hesitate to give a one star rating but this latest bag truly was poisonous and I'm heartsick that I hurt a member of my family.
Made my three dogs sick
November 2, 2016
I just read someone's review about not buying this from Amazon. I have been buying this brand at a local pet store and was very happy with it. I found that Amazon was a bit cheaper so I bought it here. After few weeks all three dogs started having stomach issues and diarrhea. One of my dogs had bloody diarrhea, which I had to take her to the vet. Many tests later and they said she has irritable bowel, but they are not certain. I will go to my back to my local pet store.
Great at first but THEN
March 10, 2016
I don't know if I got a bad bag. I ordered this food for several months with no issue. Then all 3 of my dogs got so sick. Notified amazon they refunded me my money and sent a new bag (great service) but nope they were throwing up and pooping water. Weaned them off immediately and then no further issues. Sorry taste of the wild. U lasted for a good 5 months
Contained mold and worms!
January 6, 2016
We've used Taste of the Wild for several years and not had any problem. However, this bag (best by date 10/2016), which we opened on the day it arrived, had mold and worms in it. As we emptied the bag into our food container, we found that the bottom contents were in large damp, moldy clumps with moving worms. It was pretty disgusting. I immediately called Amazon and without issue received a refund. I called Taste of the Wild and left a message to let them know what had happened (it was after hours), but I haven't heard back from them yet. I'll probably call today to talk to someone there. I'm going out today to purchase dog food, and don't think I can go with another Taste of the Wild so soon after this icky experience. I'll definitely be feeling the bags for clumps.
Get it Locally......Do Not Buy from Amazon.
September 28, 2015
Excellent dog food, just beware if buying from Amazon. I noticed the pieces of food in the bag were much larger than I had previously been getting from Big R. Didn't think much of it, but after giving dogs the food I received from Amazon both dogs started having diarrhea and vomiting during the day.Looked through the reviews on Amazon and I am not alone. Several people are noticing side effects after feeding food ordered from Amazon. Not sure if the food is absorbing something in their warehouse. I went to Big R and purchased a new bag. The size is noticeably different. Take a look at the picture.

Recent batch is toxic.
June 19, 2017
My vet recommended this dry chow for my cat who has developed a food allergy. First bag was fine; he loved it. Current bag has made him progressively sicker, and he now refuses to eat it. Each time he has eaten it over past 3 weeks he has immediately vomited, often numerous times. I am now stuck with an expensive 15 lb bag of questionable cat food.
Finicky Cats!
July 31, 2016
I bought this for my 2 8 year old cats who are ridiculously picky about what they will and will not eat. Based on the reviews, I really thought that I'd found a healthy cat food that my cats would probably like. I had been feeding them Purina Beyond, having made the switch from Iams a few years ago after getting a sample in the mail and my cats devouring this grain free sample. The problem was that my cats liked the new food TOO much, and both became obese! I had some of the Beyond left, bought this Taste of the Wild 15 lb. bag, and began mixing the two until the Beyond was gone. My cats basically stopped eating once the Beyond was no longer mixed in, and began eating my puppy's food (another 18 week old finicky Toy Poodle; I feed her Science Diet). SO, I bought a small bag of Science Diet for my cats, and began mixing THAT in with the TOTW. They pick out the Science Diet and dump out the rest, again coming to my puppy's food as a back up. I decided to return to Beyond, which I'll mix with this TOTW until it's gone (they seem not to mind eating this TOTW mixed with Beyond because it has a very appealing fish scent that probably makes the whole bowl smell tasty).
Cats started loosing fur and completely stopped eating!
March 19, 2016
This product made my cats start scratching and loosing their fur. I didn't recognize at first as we transitioned the food correctly, but by the time I got to a 75 new / 25 old both of my cats completely stopped eating. I thought going grain free would be something good for them, instead im still working on getting them back to eating normally on their Science Diet food.
My cats hate it, and cleaning up the vomit was no fun for me.
February 21, 2016
My cats do not like this food at all, and they are not usually picky eaters. I even tried introducing it gradually mixed in with other food. One cat picked out the food he liked, dropped and ate it from the floor. The other cat tried to eat around this food but wasn't completely successful. Within a few minutes I was cleaning up cat vomit. Ugh. Will not buy again and do not recommend.
Change in product formulation? Bad experience.
October 5, 2015
Been using this for about two years for my two older cats. No issues, the cars always ate it. In the last bag, the pellets seemed slightly smaller. Within three days, both cats refused to eat it.Somethings changed for the very worst.I emailed the companies quality control/customer service department on their website one week ago. Still no response. It isn't a question of the cars being finicky. They devoured food from two other brands from old leftover dry food we had sitting around. So, for the time being, don't use it.It's troubling that the company department set up for company service doesn't even respond.Tom H.
This was a great food, until it was changed.
October 3, 2015
First, let me say that I have ordered this product for over a year now. My cats LOVED it. They lost weight, their coats were looking great, and all around it was the best food I have had them on.But last month that changed. I ordered the same product from the "order again" menu, as always. I ordered it a little early, so I hadn't needed to open it up and pour it into their food container quite yet, as they still had plenty from last month's order. However, when I did finally open the bag and poured it in, I noticed the shape had changed. The kibbles were smaller and darker than before. No big deal to me and I doubted my hungry cats would care either, so long as the product itself was the same. After a week or two of observing their eating habits, this does not appear to be the case. They barely touch it. When I approach the refrigerator, where their treats are, they all come in crying as if they are hungry. Any time I approach their food dish, again, they come running and crying as if I'm finally going to get around to feeding them -- only to find that the bowl is still full from the night before. I've even caught them pawing at the dog's food. None of this is normal and has only happened since trying to feed them the newest bag of this particular food.I've had to substitute with other food from a local store, which has upset their stomachs, but at least they are eating. Change in shape doesn't seem to matter to them, so I can only assume the actual contents of the product has changed enough to turn them off of it. I am very unhappy the food was changed without any notice and am now on the look out for a new one that will be a suitable, permanent replacement.
