The dog is happy.
July 20, 2017
My dog likes it. She had no problem switching to this from blue buffalo wilderness which seemed good at first but after a year and a half seemed to be causing some hair loss. A few weeks after the switch the problems cleared up. This stuff comes in at roughly half the price too. I'm starting to believe that switching foods periodically is a good idea.
Finally a Dog Food they ALL like!
May 28, 2017
Finally!
We have a Rottweiler, Black Lab, and a shih tzu. It's next to impossible to give them all different food since they hang together 24/7.
We have tried many different foods bit there is always one not happy with the food.
We FINALLY not only found one they all like, but a healthy one at that!
Bruna, Syuk, and Stewie thank you!

Always a great item! We live in a small coastal tow with few choices to buy or access products. Amazon is our life saver and we can get exactly what we want or need. Prices are always cheaper and the reviews tell us what users think or experience. Thank you.

A starving young dog wandered into my yard on Feb 14. He could barely stand and was bones and skin. He was vomitting and defacating goo and mucus as he was full of worms. His eyes showed pleading for help. His smile was genuine. I certainly did not want a dog. People have been dumping animals or moving away leaving pets behind here. I didnt know anything about dog food and about grain and corn fillers. I just gave him some fresh eggs and rabbit meat from a farm mixed in some food I bought at the store till the Diamond Naturals food arrived. Then had him de-wormed by a vet.
My bag of Diamond Naturals arrived. I shopped by price vs quality and chose it. He is nearly done with the first 40# bag. I went with the beef because it was cheapest. Its all he eats now with very few treats. I walk him at night after work and I am very pleased. Changed collars twice this month as his neck has quadrupled in size. He is a machine whom could probably out-play any dog on the planet. Im now the only one who can walk him because he is too strong for my wife and kids. His fur is thick and soft, his whiskers have tripled in length on his chin and face. He has grown from starving puppy to healthy dog in a month and a half. I certainly see no reason to change his food or reccomend any other food to anyone else. It is outstanding in every way. The ingredient list is stacked with good stuff. The food pebbles are good sized and shape. Ive seen first hand the quality of this product and support it.

Price and quality

Price per lb + quality of ingredients have me and my 155lb Newfoundland loving this stuff. In today's economy it's nice to not skimp on the dog while still keep things affordable.

What this stuff reeaaallllyyy needs is a subscribe and save option!

Great brand, amazing quality
March 7, 2017
Great brand. I love the quality of this brand. My dog had a sensitive digestive system, and at almost 10yrs old, I can understand and sympathize. We switched to Science Diet about 1 year ago, after researching reviews about better quality food from Purina One True Instinct brand. The switch was the best decision for our German Shep/Lab mix. She has had no GI issues with this brand, and no coat problems either. My choice was confirmed when I noticed our Veterinarian carried this brand in their office! I should have paid attention and wised up long ago!
when going through the breeding stages with my Great Pyrenees twice a year
January 13, 2017
I have used this dog food for a while now and it has served my adult dogs and puppies needs. I appreciate the prompt delivery through PRIME; when going through the breeding stages with my Great Pyrenees twice a year, it has been a huge timesaver having it delivered to my door. At the height of the feedings for the puppies, I was going through 2 bags a month or more of this kibble. I do wish they could sell this food in larger quantities for those of us who need more than the normal bag. I use this as the base for the puppy gruel (soaking the kibble in hot water), add in Oatmeal and closterium and a few other nutrients and it works great! We fed 10 puppies and 2 adults during the post whelping periods. I recommend this kibble to our clients.
dog food DELIVERED !!
November 19, 2016
Have been using this product for 5 years for my 10 year old dog, as recommended by his vet when we adopted him. He has not stomach issues with it. Exactly the same product as I buy at the big box store down the street, but it's delivered TO MY DOOR !! Saves me time spent on running errands. Will be buying again for sure.
Love that it's delivered, love that my dog loves it!
December 22, 2015
I'm so glad that I don't have to go to a pet specialty store to track this down now. I used to have to make a special trip once a month for dog food, remember to bring my coupons or pay $50/bag, and then have to lug it around the store to the car and then into the house. I am so thankful that Amazon has this service to deliver this product now. I will never go back to the pet store to buy my dog food again!

I switched my Goldendoodle from Purina to Science Diet when she was a puppy. She was having a lot of dietary issues, vomiting, diarrhea, and the like. I was desperate to have her feel better. The vet recommended switching her over to Science Diet and I am so glad that I did! Since switching over about 6 months ago - we have not had any issues with upset stomachs or diarrhea.
My Dog Loved it

What a convenient way to shop, I will never go to Walmart again. Place an order and in 2 days it is at my door. My dog was so excited to get a package from his enemy, the delivery man, he peed a little bit.

our dogs like this. no corn
June 1, 2017
our dogs like this. no corn, wheat, or soy. That's good. It does have rice, so it's not entirely grain free. We bought our first bag of this because our previous food changed and one dog didn't' want to eat it. When that happened before, the dog was proven right- there were problems with the food. So we try this one, and have no issues. I wish pet food of reasonable quality didn't cost so much... oh well.
So far....so good!!!
March 8, 2016
So far so good.... My German Shepherd has a very touchy allergy to certain dog foods. We just started the dog recently on this and it seems to have cut down on the constant scratching and licking by more than 50%. I'm hoping in the long run that we will be able to continue with this dog food..... Diamond natural dry food was a very good deal for the size of bag and quality of food.
Made our dog violently throw up
February 17, 2016
We were excited to start buying our dog some real dog food where the first ingredient was not corn. We read good things about this product, the first ingredient was listed as beef, so we bought a large bag. We made sure to ease our dog into the new dog food by only giving her small quantities at first, then slowly increasing the amount. However, despite this, our dog got really sick and threw up 3 times in one day. We were very disappointed, and called the company to try and get a refund, which they were able to do thankfully, but this is still a bad product.

EDIT: After re-introducing the product to our dog much more slowly, she became more accustomed to it. So chalk this one up to user error. If your dog has been on a diet consisting primarily of corn based dog food, make sure to introduce this to your dog at a very slow and gradual rate. Once they get used to it though, it's great. Our dog loves feeding time again!
Happy customer
July 10, 2014
Switched to this food after feeding my dog Taste of the Wild for about a year. Rocky, my 40+ pound beagle/bassett mix, seems to like it. After about a month or so, his coat has remained beautiful, sleek and shiny and his poops are solid and easy to pick up. Hardly ever runny or overly stinky like it has been in the past when he was eating lower quality food. I never feed him the grocery store brands (iams, purina, alpo etc.) because It has horrible nutrition, high fat/junky fillers and very little real meat and veggies. Basically the store brands are doggie McDonald's, plus he has a sensitive tummy and tends to vomit frequently when he isn't eating the right nutrition. He was eating purina when I first adopted him because that's what the shelter was feeding him. They gave me a 15 pound bag and I noticed he never wanted to eat and got sick all the time. Took him to the vet and he recommended a change in diet. As soon as rocky started eating high quality healthy food, he became super dog! I would never recommend for any pet owner to feed their animal the store brands if they can help it. Other foods like Wellness and Canidae are wonderful but can get very expensive. This food is affordable and gives my boy all the nutrition he needs. He's happy and healthy, so I'm glad I made the switch!

I was originally very skeptical about this food because of the past recalls but when I did a little digging I found that many brands have had recalls too. After a lot of thinking about what's best for my best bud, I decided to give this company the benefit of the doubt. Although I'm sure this company has learned from their mistakes and most likely won't have any further issues, you can never be too safe, so make sure you sign up for recall alerts just in case.

Good food, great price
September 30, 2016
We started our standard poodle puppy on this food after trying a Natural Balance grain free food. He had loose stools with the Natural Balance but once we switched him to this Science Diet his stools were normal again. We've been feeding him this food ever since and he is almost a year old. No problems, good quality and price. Hopefully we'll have the same success when we move him to adult food.

June 22, 2016
This was recommended by our vet and the price was good for a higher end puppy food. However, after about 2 weeks, our 4 month old Pit/Mastiff lost interest and would only eat it after a lot of coaxing. His stools looked soft but were firm enough to be picked up without a mess. This also made his coat really nice and shiny. Too bad he's a picky eater!
Did not agree with my dog's GI tract
June 15, 2016
While Hill's Science Diet is recommended by virtually every vet in the country, this dog food did not agree with my one-year-old lab's sensitive stomach. Her stools were watery and she had big-time gas issues while on it. Once I switched her off of Science Diet onto another brand dog food, her digestive issues stopped.

Having said that, this dog food did not work for my current dog, but my past dogs (also labs) loved this food and grew from puppyhood into senior citizens on Science Diet, with little or no gastrointestinal issues. So all-in-all I feel comfortable giving this food a good review.
Good on digestive system and coat, not the yummiest
August 27, 2015
I used to get Nature's Recipe Grain Free. She loved the flavor but it was really expensive and she had really soft stools. Although my pup isn't a fan of the taste of this dog food, it really helps her digestive system. Her stools firmed up while using this. I have to soak the kibble in water for about 20 minutes, drain the water and then feed it to her. That somehow makes it more palatable to her. Every once in a while, I'll put a little gravy or something in it as a treat. Her coat is also nice and shiny.
Good food but VERY large morsel size
July 2, 2014
I've heard really good things about Hills Science Diet dog food. I decided to try it for my puppy who is 4 1/2 months and already about 35 pounds. I probably should have done more research before I chose the "large breed" brand, but I just thought that the ingredients were more suited towards larger breed dogs. When I opened the package, I couldn't believe how BIG the morsels were! They were at least double the size of my adult dog's (about 60 pounds) food. I just wish there was some info about the size of the bites because even though my puppy is big, the bites are just too big for her and she tries to eat my other dog's food now. Other than size (which is not the companies fault), this brand of food seems very nutritious and beneficial for dogs and growing puppies!

My dog and I have been very happy with this food
September 12, 2016
My dog and I have been very happy with this food. I would give this 5 stars at the $36 price, but at $59 only 3 stars. I will not pay $59 since there are so many other good choices at lower cost.

Costco has the Kirkland brand that Diamond actually makes and it gets the same or better rating. 35 lb bag is $27.

Good, but not good for my dogs.
August 29, 2016
I was excited about this purchase after reading the ingredients and for the value for the price. I was having some car issues and couldn't make it to Tractor Supply for the usual so I searched Amazon for a good deal and decided to roll the dice and be adventurous.

The pups-- a Dalmatian pit mix and a lab mutt-- seemed to like it ok. However, after about a week on this food (Beef meal flavor)both of my pups started having gastrointestinal issues. Loose and runny BMs and terrible gas. We are talking room-clearing, can taste it in your soul kind of foul, soul-melting farts.

I wound up purchasing another brand I knew I could rely on and mixing it in with the Diamond Natural to give the fur children and my nose some relief.

Its different for every dog so I am giving 3 stars, which is the rating that dogfoodadvisor.com gives this brand.
Decent quality for price, but not as good as their grain-free products.
March 15, 2016
We tried to switch to this instead of Nature's Domain (also made by Diamond, available at costco). I was hoping that the similar ingredients from the same factory would bode well for my three dogs, but unfortunately all of them became noticeably more gassy with less firm stool (not diarrhea, as we did work to slowly transition them over a few weeks). It's a decent food for the price, but you really can't beat grain-free. We switched back, and all dogs are doing much better.
My dogs don't really like this food
March 23, 2015
My dogs don't really like this food, but they will eat if hungry enough. They have a bit of a weight issue so, to controlling their weight is easier if they don't like the food much, and this I find it helpful. I would not have purchased this food if it didn't have a high nutritional rating on Dog Food Advisor's unbiased dog food reviews and dog food ratings.

I am not sure if I will continue to buy it because I do want my dogs' to be happy with their food, but I also want them to be healthy and I am concerned about their weight and the fact they don't like it does seem to help with weight control.

Greasy
October 16, 2016
My dog eats it, but she doesn't love it. It's also rather greasy. You'll have to clean your dog's food bowl much more often. After transitioning from Kibbles 'N Bits or something cheap like that (I know better now), she had more regular bowl movements and had less of that dirty dog smell between baths. I might buy it again in the future if I can't find a better brand, but I'd rather not.

I had to give my dog presription Science Diet for a while and thought this would be a good food to transition to. Hill's seems to be a decent company but if you take the time to look you will find a better quality dog food.

Caution - Please read the Consumer Affairs before you purchase!!
August 27, 2016
Originally I purchased this dog food off of the initial amazon reviews, however take caution. Based on my experience this product has negatively affected my dogs health. After a short time, her sides started to become very skinny and neck area. Leaving a lot of extra skin this is not normal, also she is drinking water like crazy and acting like she is starving, even after she eats. She has also developed very bad itching and dry skin. I'm certain its the food, seeing how consumer affairs will back my experience. This may result in costly vet bills, her health has changed drastically after being on this food. Monitor your dog carefully if you are using this food, I'm going to try for a refund. Others have had costly vet bills and some left with a dead dog. Please read the Consumer Affairs before you purchase!!
High quality dog food at a great price. Good switch for us!
July 10, 2016
I need to retract my review. My dog no longer likes this food at all. for the last bag and a half when when we feed her she is excited to see me with the food bowl but when she sees it's the same junk she sniffs and walks away, eating it slowly in bits as if only to survive.Switched her to another product and she is loving it. I have no clue what happened but it was enough for me to lose confidence in this dog food.Original review belowEasy transition from another popular dog food that was getting too expensive to continue using. This is still a high quality product at a substantial savings. I hope the price and availability stays consistent as my Sheprador really enjoys this new food.
Not as good as I was expecting, do not resemble other high quality brands.
March 18, 2016
Got this food thinking I was going to get a little better bargain (price per lb) of a good quality food. I mean it is quite a bit more expensive than "grocery store" brands, but the quality didn't seem any better. The kibbles didn't resemble any of the other better quality foods I have tried such as Merrick, Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild, etc. The kibbles were larger, looser, drier and just looked like a poorer quality of food if that makes any sense? The dogs just didn't want to eat them like other foods. So yes, they are better than grocery store brands ingredient wise, they did not seem any different out of the bag. I have gone back to a slightly more expensive, but much better quality of food.

March 6, 2016
I have been ordering dog food on amazon for about a year now. This is the first time I tried a new brand and my dogs won't eat it at all. I am not saying that no dog will eat it but I would try a smaller bag prior to purchasing a large one just in case. My dogs were barely eating half a portion so I had to go out and buy another brand just to get them back eating regular. They haven't been sick or had any issues and returned to their regular eating habits after I got a different brand.
Good value but research before hand is necessary!
November 26, 2015
Let me start out by saying that I had high hopes for this dog food. The ingredients seem top notch and the price cannot be beat for 40 lbs of dog food. I have 2 dogs, one eats anything and the other is a picky eater.
When i started giving them this food they both started eating much less. The one who eats anything would start to leave some of the food in the dish and return to it until it was complete. He ALWAYS eats all of his food so i thought this was strange. The picky eater started to eat about once per day. After consumption, they would have soft stool as well.
I tried mixing the food with other kibble because I'd hate to see it go to waste but after eating this food for 3 weeks I noticed messes of vomit around my house. I was surprised because my dogs rarely get sick. That was the last straw so i went to my local pet store and bought Natural balance until their usual shipment of dr fosters and smith came in.
I did some research on this brand and discovered many people have similar experiences and their dogs became much sicker then mine. I will be sticking to dr fosters and smith. It is inexpensive comparably to other brands like natural balance and my dogs love the lamb formula. So, even though I'm down about $70 Im sad this brand didn't work out but it's better then paying an expensive vet bill if they became very sick.

Not as good as I had hoped it would be
March 22, 2017
I liked the fact that it did not smell bad and the pieces of kibble are large enough to where I did not have to use a slow feeder. However, my dog is not a big fan of it at all. He has became itchy, has dry skin and is starting to shed way more than normal. He skips meals sometimes because he has no interest in eating it. I've had to switch brands once again. Hopefully he gets back to normal soon.

The kibble size is much larger than other foods we have been using & I thought it was grain free but looking back @ the page it doesn't say.We have had good response in the past with Hill products, our vet always recommended them if they were sick. The Hounds give it a Tails down on this one.

BE CAREFUL WHAT BRAND DOG FOOD YOU PUT YOUR FAITH IN
August 16, 2016
This product needs revision as it is making dogs sick. My dogs had vomiting, diarrea, and one had blood and clots in urine. Also, symptoms of excessive grass eating (that is not their usual) and extreme thirst. As silly as this sounds, this is something I have discussed with other pet owners using this food and they have the same issues. Please take a look at your food. Until you get control of this issue DIAMOND NATURAL, we will no longer be a customer. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Won't buy again! Too bad was a quality product.

Do not recommend, huge kibble size and puppy got sick from food
August 28, 2017
I have a 10 week old Golden Retriever puppy and I bought this food as it had good reviews. I transitioned my dog from the food he had with the breeder to this and after he was fully transitioned, he wouldn't eat. To get him to eat it, I had to add water and let it sit for at least 5 hours to let the food blow up and become soft, the kibble is HUGE, it would take my dog forever to eat one kibble piece. The kibble would smell after soaking in the water and I didn't like how I had to leave it out before I could feed it to my pup, major inconvenience. Even after soaking it, he would barely eat it, I'd have to sit with him and get him to eat it and I began to think he was a picky eater. Then one day after eating solely the Science Diet for a few days, he got really sick and had vomiting and diarrhea. I switched him to boiled chicken and white rice and it cleared up after 2 days. I knew it was from the Science Diet so I switched to Blue Buffalo puppy and it was so evident to me how much he hated Science Diet when he gobbled up his new food in an instant! It's unfortunate that I now have a 30 lb of Science Diet just wasted!I would not recommend this food, especially for a new puppy as the kibbles are huge and took my large breed puppy (golden retriever) FOREVER to eat, not to add that he got super sick after eating this food.
poisoned my dog
August 25, 2017
i have purchased this before and it was fine but this time around after about a week of eating it my dog has had the runs and pooping everywhere including in the middle of the night. I stopped feeding it to her switch to plain boiled rice and chicken and bought another bag of food at walmart and all the sudden she is fine. I gave her pepto bismol which normally would stop any upset stomach but this time nope. I almost ran her to the vet and who knows how much that would have cost!!! Thank God i thought to stop feeding her that food! I am going to try to return this. This is awful! It's possible this last bag is a bad batch but definitely won't buy it again.
