Five Star Reviews: | 70% Highly recommend August 23, 2017 I bit the bullet and bought this after being frustrated opening a bottle of wine with a cheap pocket knife and the cork braking off. This opener works beautifully. I have used it about 7-8 times since my purchase and it opens the bottles smoothly every time. Fine for me May 28, 2017 My other openers have been breaking the corks. I don't know why. This was a new problem. But this opener has worked very well for me! It is heavier than the others. I have no idea why it is working well when the others don't. But mine is not to reason why, I guess! I just want to open my bottles. Works great! December 12, 2016 Sturdy opener for wine bottles and very easy to use. I've been through a number of other flimsy models that broke after only a few uses and ended up with a plain old opener that consisted of a wooden handle and a corkscrew. Alas, it broke after a few years use. This one I bought through the Black Friday Deals and am glad I did, it is smooth as silk. Don't know if the bottle opener works well, don't drink bottled beer. No Hassle August 23, 2016 I like this opener because it easily pops the cap on bottled beer. It also easily opens wine bottles without the cork shavings making a mess. A Good Corkscrew November 11, 2015 This is a good, study, easy-to-use corkscrew. I've had it for several months and have used it on several wine bottles (one at a time, weeks apart, for the record). It goes into the cork without too much effort and when you go to pull the cork out, it comes out without too much effort. | 50% ... and daughter-in-law for Christmas and they tell me they love using it January 5, 2016 I gave this to my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas and they tell me they love using it. It removes corks very easily and quickly. The only problem they have encountered so far is removing the cork from the corkscrew. Possibly they are not doing it correctly? Overall though, they seemed very pleased and used it over the holidays quite a bit. Impressive wine opener January 3, 2016 I have only had the rabbit lever corkscrew opener for one month. But it was the busiest month of celebrating for me, hence Christmas and New Years. So I was able to really try out the opener. First, thank you so much for all the emails you sent explaining how to use the opener. Scary I thought, if I need so much help working it. I'll never be able to use it. But that was not true, when I received it I felt I knew exactly what to do.It was easy to use the cork came out immediately, I looked very professional using it. The only thing that took awhile to do was taking the cork off the opener. Recommendation add that to your emails. Kind of funny, thought the email were strange and now I'm recommending another.I would recommend this to everyone who loves wine and wants an opener that is easy to use, beautiful looking and impressive when guest watch you use it. Happy wine opener! December 4, 2015 Very happy with opener! Purchased this wine opener as a replacement of another. This one is so much easier to use then o e I had. I now enjoy opening wine!http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/-/4149366?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=Sorbet&resultback=8857#show-more-soci Shibby!!! October 5, 2015 I am a bartender and I'll often need to open 20-40 bottles before an event. With this sucker I can pop those bottles fast and do what I need to do quicker. I'll get about 20 bottles opened and ready in about 2-3 minutes compared with 10+ minutes with a handheld corkscrew Easy to Use Lever for Opening Your Wine Bottles September 13, 2015 I had a rabbit-style wine opener that I really loved. For some reason, some of the gears got out of sync and so the corkscrew wouldn't go down far enough to remove the cork. After a lot of research, I decided to by the Goodman's Wine Bottle Opener and i twas a good choice. I love the rabbit, but the cork release motion could sometimes be jerky. The movement on the Goodman's is really smooth with no jerky motion. The Goodman's also requires less strength to grip the handle as compared to the rabbit. It's also a bit more compact than the rabbit, so a little easier to travel with. Highly recommended for any wine fan. It worked great and I love that it came with an extra ... August 14, 2015 Very heavy duty bottle opener. It worked great and I love that it came with an extra cork screw. This product is well made and looks very nice also. I would certainly recommend this product.I was offered this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my unbiased review. |
Four Star Reviews: | 14% This is a really good wine bottle opener and beer opener March 27, 2017 This is a really good wine bottle opener and beer opener. It makes the task easy and fast without any problem. good enough January 11, 2016 It's ok. I haven't used it yet, but at first feel it's pretty heavy duty, but the rubber/plastic guards aren't exactly what I was hoping for. OXO or softer feel type openers it is not, but it's going to do the job I expect. Works well September 3, 2015 This corkscrew works quite well. I've used it on several wine corks and it has worked perfectly, however there was one cork that when I twisted the screw part into the cork the screw got kind of stuck where the twisty handle at the top was no longer interacting with the screw... I thought I had broken it but I jiggled it for a bit and somehow it start working again. I'm not sure if it was an exception or a premonition that it might break soon. Other than that it has been great, is easy to operate and the bottle opener has worked perfect. | 8% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 7% Nice design except for the screw part September 10, 2017 Nice design except for the screw part. It doesn't grab the cork very well. If you dont put enough downward pressure you may end up with a hollow cork Not a luxury item July 16, 2017 The opener feels cheap because the parts fit together loosely. From the bright side, it is easy to use. The corkscrew tip is sharp and the levers are long enough for effortless cork removal. Three stars mean "It's okay" Not great, but it'll do December 29, 2014 Not as beefy as the grips might imply. It's a bit over sized and underweight. Also the corkscrew isn't as grabby as a normal corkscrew...it's hard to explain, but it's more like a flat piece of metal twisted into a spiral rather than a metal wire spun into a spiral. | 7% Good, after some work January 3, 2016 The wine opener was a gift to my mom. It was used at a party the night it was received and did not work. We replaced the screwards that came installed on it, with the extra that was supplied and haven't had a problem since. After a little bending of the original screw it works fine as well. Just shocked that the screw originally installed did not work. Great bu not as pictured October 18, 2015 We received the product with only the one cork screw no additional. Also there were marks on the products which lead us to believe it was already used and the screw was slightly bent. There was no wine information booklet supplied as the ad showed either. The opener still works well... just felt like we got a 2nd hand one by mistake. It does not pull out from the cork easily. October 2, 2015 It works well to extract the cork, but most times you have to manually unscrew the cork from the spiral. It does not pull out from the cork easily. It opens beautifully; removing the cork is a challenge September 25, 2015 It opens beautifully; removing the cork is a challenge. The two parts don't seem to squeeze tightly enough to grab onto the cork, and I've had to break or twist it off manually. Shipping time was fine. September 23, 2015 The action on this wine opener is less smooth than one I previously owned. Requires a little more effort to open wine. Shipping time was fine. She had given me a similar one a couple years ago and I just love it! As she is still using a simple ... September 4, 2015 I have not used this item as I purchased it as a gift for my sister-in-law. She had given me a similar one a couple years ago and I just love it! As she is still using a simple cork pull opener, I wanted to get her one for a gift as well. One of the reasons I purchased this particular item was because most of the recommendations stated that it came in a very nice gift box. I was disappointed to find that mine did not. Rather it came in an inexpensive cardboard box. Just a heads up for those of you who think you will be receiving it in a nice gift box.Update: This item broke pretty quickly after giving it as a gift. A little embarrassing for me. The different kind I have is still going strong after several years. |
Two Star Reviews: | 3% it's more like a drill January 24, 2017 Awful. It's not a cork screw, it's more like a drill. Started ripping apart the cork immediately, finally a friend got it to work using A LOT of force. It gets two stars for opening beer bottles just fine. Not tightly constructed. Tends to chew up the cork ... September 25, 2016 Not tightly constructed. Tends to chew up the cork rather than drilling into it. Not long enough. October 21, 2015 This works fine, but the part that screws into the cork is not long enough, meaning that you have to screw it in, push down on the wings to get the cork partway out of the bottle, and then screw it in more to do the same again. | 8% I am not pleased with this purchase and will not buy another one March 5, 2016 I waited to give a review, thinking the opener needed to loosen up, but after 3 months, it still sticks most of the time and is hard to use. I am not pleased with this purchase and will not buy another one. Terrible Purchase, No Service Whatsoever December 11, 2015 Worked great for about a month. Then it stopped working ... you can't get the cork off of the screw. I wrote to Goodmann's but they ignored me. Terrible purchase. ... figure how to work it but then it seemed fine. After a while October 14, 2015 Took a few tries to figure how to work it but then it seemed fine. After a while, the corkscrew wouldn't remove the cork - it just unwound itself from the cork and I had to use a conventional corkscrew to get the cork out. No matter what I did, the corkscrew just reversed itself and the cork stayed put. Very disappointing since the product seems well made. Kudos to Goodmann's for their prompt response and refund. Difficult to Use August 22, 2015 Besides needing strong arms and a strong hand, this wine opener does work. Too bad I have to work harder to open the bottle. However, if it lasts longer than the Houdini Rabbits I've purchased in the past (lasted a few months, then broke (metal is made from zinc die-cast - pot metal to some). If this breaks in the next few months, I will be livid! But on the upside, I'm getting an arm and hand work-out every time I open a bottle of wine! Could operate more smoothly; unattractive packaging August 2, 2015 This corkscrew could operate more smoothly. For many years, I owned a similar corkscrew (which I loved!), but it finally gave out on me (a small piece of plastic broke at the hinge). I then purchased this Goodmanns corkscrew, but it didn't operate as smoothly as my old one, so I purchased a similar item from Shenkitchen Professional (for less than a dollar more). I compared the action of the two brands, and the Shenkitchen corkscrew works much more smoothly (very similar to my old one), so I returned this one from Goodmanns. The packaging for the Goodmanns corkscrew was also less attractive. If you're planning on gifting one of these, the Shenkitchen Professional is a much better option. |
One Star Reviews: | 6% One Star July 12, 2017 Cheap feeling, not sure if it's even metal or coated plastic Update: used once and the arm fell off and the bottle opener part bent from opening one bottle, we returned for a refund It seems to just dig apart the cork rather than into it to get a good hold. I've tried it on 2 different wines ... June 11, 2017 I find it extremely difficult to use. It seems to just dig apart the cork rather than into it to get a good hold. I've tried it on 2 different wines bottles. Will do a third and post pictures when I get the chance. I'd suggest running to Walmart or Target and buying one made out of something more sturdy than chalk January 28, 2017 Showed up cheap and broken. I'd suggest running to Walmart or Target and buying one made out of something more sturdy than chalk; This corkscrew looks nice but that's about it November 10, 2015 This corkscrew looks nice but that's about it, doesn't work well at all, wouldn't buy another one. Not very well made | 27% Very disappointed. It is already too late to return it. April 3, 2016 It doesn't work. I bought this as a special gift. Uesd only 2 times, both at special event with guests, neither time it worked. We couldn't believe how ineffective it was, so finally took a thorough look. There is a push down pin on the black rubber handle side, when you push it against the bottle, it is suppose to get pressed into the handle, then lock the spiral pin in position, so when you pull the lever up, the pin won't spin and pulls the cork out. The one in our case has a defect push down pin , it does not go down enough to lock the spiral pin! So when we pull the lever, the pin just spins out.Very disappointed. It is already too late to return it, even thought it is still brand new. At leat try yours right away.Looking at previous reviews again, there are too many positive ones with no verified purchase. Nah. December 29, 2015 Purchased for my wife as a gift. The first time she asked me to open a bottle of wine (our first time using it), I took it out of the box and the corkscrew was a little loose, and didn't look screwed all the way onto the rest of the mechanism. Tightened it as much as I could, and it seemed to "pop" out of alignment before I could get the lever all the way down. Cork was about 1/4 the way out of the bottle, the hole made by the corkscrew was down the side rather than in the middle, and the corkscrew was loose from the device again. Tigtened again thinking I did something wrong. Same thing happened on bottle #2. No harm, no foul; I got the corks out with my old, classic manual corkscrew. But I'm returning this. Didn't look very nice anyhow - the coating was uneven and seemed to be bubbled. Total waste of money December 27, 2015 Total waste of money. Lasted three weeks and I finally threw it in the garbage. The silver cap nut just under the lever constantly stripped off making the cork screw inoperable. Holding the lever tight against the neck of the bottle only is effective 30% of the time in removing the cork from the screw. I got screwed! In a short period of time I have bought two because both new ones I bough broke internally, and I am not, was not abusive to the November 23, 2015 The wine bottle opener is our second of this design. The first broke from being assembled incorrectly. There is a pin that secures the black tubular section that the corkscrew passes through. The pin was pressed in at an angle which fractured the black tube section and the corkscrew opener failed. OK, things happen. I like the design so I'll buy another one. Bought another and it fell apart on the second bottle I tried to open. The chrome cap that tops the cork screw assembly was pushed off the top of the corkscrew assembly and is jammed there now. I don't think you really want to ask me what I think of your rabbit lever corkscrew wine bottle opener. The design is excellent but the integrity of the manufactured parts and assembly are poor So rather than praise your opener I'd like to talk about a refund for them, Be glad to send you a bag of loose parts. Dave McCallum Danger-don't buy October 1, 2015 The second time I used it the corkscrew wouldn't penetrate the cork. Instead, it completely missed the bottle and speared my palm which due to the design of the opener was in very close proximity to the business end of the puller. I was using it properly. The guide through which the corkscrew passes was cracked. I've returned it for a refund. Broke on first use. September 21, 2015 The plastic hinge broke on the FIRST bottle I opened. Obviously a weak link and a poor design. Returning it for a refund. |
