I love this appliance. We are full-time RVers. We purchased our 2004 motorhome in 2013. I had never used a convection oven before, but quickly learned to like this combination oven. When it needed replacing a month ago, we researched other "RV- friendly" micro/convec combo ovens. It didn't take long to realize that we wanted the exact same type that had been original in the motorhome. It microwaves wonderfully and bakes beautifully.

My wife said she wouldn't use it Well 3 days later guess what. Very nice I use convention all the time. I'm the master in cooking and this is the guy

I bought this to replace the same model Sharp microwave/convection oven I had for 12 years. I was elated to find that this model was still being produced. It's reliable and easy to use. We also had this same model in our RV, so the convection part was used a lot and works great for baking. I paid someone $100 to remove the non-working one and replace it with the same model. Hoping this new one lasts 12 years, also.

We had the same microwave before, after 12 years the door was giving us trouble. You can guess our surprise when we found the same microwave still being made. I would recommend this microwave although a bit pricie

So far I love this appliance. It far exceeds my expectations: easy to use and very versatile. We purchased this exact replacement for one that was broken in an RV we purchased. My hope is that it continues to function as well as is does now! I'll update as time passes.

Love this oven as it fits in my RV. It seems to be exactly like the one I was replaced. The 1st one lasted 9 years while he I think is good for an appliance these days.

It was a replacement for the microwave that was in the motorhome.

Would have received 5 star rating if interior was easier to clean.

Great price, shipped in good speedy time, a very small dent that we decided we were not going to complain or worry about! Oven was mounted, and neither of us felt it was worth taking out and starting over!!! Works great, convection or micro- wave!!

Actually 4,5 but I did not know how to put in a half. The old one had slowed down after 8 years on speed/power as it could not be cometely cleaned. Wow what a difference with the new one'.

Direct replacement in my RV for the original that lasted over 15 years. I hope I get that same life out of this one. All of the previous reviews were spot on, in the fact that the new one is very hard to get the two mounting bolts to start (took about 40 minutes) and the new models fan and motor are far louder than the old one was. But the unit works great in all categories.

Works OK. But this is my third r-1871. It doesn't sound like the others. Takes longer for magnetron and turntable to kick in. The other two only lasted about six years. The jury must remain out on this one, at least until the one year warranty expires. No problems with the seller. Strangely, all three ovens were manufactured in different countries.

came in a box that looked very old, during installation one off the gromets pulled out that pulls the front top to the cabinet, kind of noisy operation.

Box was not crushed but top venting cover was dented and cracked. I used the old one from the same model that needed to be replaced as to avoid all of the return BS.

SEPTEMBER 13, 2013 over one month after delivery AND STILL NOT USABLE!!!! GETTING UPSET. THE RATING REFLECTS THE FACT THAT IT IS NOT WORKING YET !!!So I can't be sure that it will.The unit was delivered and it is what I wanted because it is exactly like the one I had for 14 years (newer model of course); but it has not been working as it should. I wonder if the tech will really getting it to work correctly. Waiting now for parts to fix the oven portion of the unit. The tech tells that the microwave portion only cooks on the sides and the center does not get the ray to cook the food, How can that be possible?? Anyway here I am one full month after purchasing the oven and can't use it. I still will be happy if they get it to work properly.Love the fact that the color is not bisque --- thankfully it is almond like the previous one although the bottom of this one is white .... why??? Was it refurbished???? Original bottom damaged ???? Will never know.

Fits perfectly in previous Sharp model space. Heating seems the same as the previous model although this one states 850 watts and the old one said 1100 watts. Exhaust does not work as well as the other model. Fan seems to work same on low and high speed, no difference in sound or intensity of fan sound. One would think the low would seem quieter.

When we were remodeling our kitchen we decided to replace our Sharp countertop convection microwave with the over the range model. I really miss the old one. This new model seems to be a lot noisier than the old one. I went from 1.5 cubic feet down to 1.1 and it feels like I lost a lot more room than that. The hood light is VERY dim and the replacement bulbs (2) each cost at least $4 a piece if you can find them. Because we had to vent this into the kitchen we had to sent away to Sharp for a charcoal filter that cost $20 (filter plus shipping and handling.) We had planned to vent it to the outside but the vent didn't even come close to matching up the hole from our former range hood. The cooking turntable is white and very had to keep clean. It is only a month old and is very stained already.I do like to have the cooking area at eye level.I researched the price for comparable items on the web before buying and Amazon offered the best price as well as free shipping. I am very pleased with Amazon!

Ordered this to replace our >9-year old HotPoint microwave when it finally bit the dust. UPS shipper left the package hanging off of the porch in the rain (even though I was home when it was delivered) and it was tough to tell if packaging was damaged because the cardboard was really damp when I moved it into the house, even though the oven itself was dry. I should have returned it right there. I agree when another buyer said that unless the packaging looks perfect, don't even open it - just return it. Or better yet, buy local if you really want this unit as defect/damage returns appear to be too much of a headache otherwise. As we were installing, I noticed a small dent on the top rear of the unit that appeared superficial but installed anyway because it was hidden. The oven was very difficult to install - the bracket kept getting stuck inside the bottom corners and the rear mounting bolts came out of their guides several times. When heating, our unit makes a loud buzzing initially that lasts anywhere from 1 - 2 seconds and sounds like a defect. The fans are also really rattly and resonate on the cabinets/wall making it even louder. I'm not sure if this is from unseen shipping damage, some other defect, or that's just how these things sound. Amazon Marketplace Seller would not return the unit because I had already installed and disposed of packaging when we realized it didn't seem to sound like it was working properly. Working with Sharp support now to try to get warranty repair or replacement. On the plus side, it does cook pretty well... at least for the moment. But I'm definitely not happy with it.

Item arrived damaged. At that point return of item became a issue.

This replaced a '95 Sharp Carousel which was a great machine; this new one is noisy, vibrates and doesn't cook bacon, potatoes, etc. as efficently. The convection feature is a plus but we don't use it much because it is very messy and takes a lot of energy in the pre-heating process.

I've only had it for four years and it's already given out....I don't use it very much, except to heat things....very disappointing

This should never have been marketed as a usable "convection" oven ... it is purely good for microwaving.When in convection mode, the turntable must be allowed to rotate, thereby restricting pan size to something that won't come in contact with the oven's sides. Therefore, not even a quarter sheet pan will work in the unit. Additionally, you cannot adjust the time and/or temperature mid-use; if you want to make any changes, you have to cancel the program and re-program. For over 15 years, I had a GE Profile above-the range convection oven. When in convection mode, it functioned well as a convection oven. This Sharp product is really strictly for people who are looking for a microwave with lots of bells and whistles.It's not for a serious cook or baker who is looking for a second oven.The limitations as a convection oven should be described before the purchase is made.This purchase was a complete waste of money.

The top plastic vent cover along the top front came broken in the box and had already been attempted to be glued, but was broken when we opened the box. Since this i an old product and no others are available, i will fix it myself and make it work, but it was attempted to be fixed and that is deceptive

Never able to use it. Ordered one, it arrived damaged. Returned it and ordered another and it was in worse shape than the first. It was obvious that BOTH were previously opened. I wonder if they were returns from other customers. The factory packaging is awful and really insufficient. It is little wonder it was tore apart in shipping. Amazon return was just fine...I just hated to use it and now I still don't have a microwave.

This oven MIGHT work but UPS tried to destroy it on the way. The UPS delivery man, put the oven box on the porch, ran the bell and RAN to his truck. I opened the door and hollered "Thanks", his reply was " It's really heavy" and drove away. The exterior of the box was in such bad shape that I took pictures of it before bringing it in. I followed the directions to open the box and when I lifted off the exterior box, pieces of broken styrofoam fell every where. Examination of the oven showed a bulge in the top right side of the case and a dent in the side of the oven case in the same general area. The shipping box and the packing was so destroyed that it will be unable to be used for return. AMAZON does not seem to have any system to handle this kind of destruction except Return or Replace with no regard for a majorly damaged shipping box. Ever try to contact AMAZON? BUY LOCALLY!! Jim R.UPDATED JULY 10, 2012Amazon responded almost immediately to my complaints. They set up to have UPS pickup the damaged oven. I was able to repack the oven with packing I already had and tape the box together with about 20 yards of extra strong shipping tape. The UPS guy that picked it up today told me that they really should be shipping these heavy ovens in wooden crates to protect them, he sees a lot of damage to heavy items shipped in lightweight containers. Amazon shipped a replacement so fast that I didn't have time to decide if I wanted a replacement or a refund. I contacted them and they told me to refuse the shipment if I could see any evidence of container damage upon delivery.Soooo I guess that I have changed my mind about Amazon service. They really tried to make things right. Jim R.

One week after installing this over-the-stove, convection microwave, the stainless steel interior began to look spotted. A white cloth rubbed on the area revealed rust which continued growing like a severe rash on all surfaces of the inside. Sharp authorized a local service rep to make a housecall and examine it. He concluded the metal interior's defect, whereupon Sharp said they would replace (but not pay for reinstallation of) the unit. Removing the defective microwave and reinstalling will cost me $140!!! That wipes out any savings incurred by ordering online. Sharp's customer service will not compensate. I would have been MUCH better off buying from my local retailer who would have changed out the piece without charge in a situation like this. Live and learn. It is more than one month after the inspection and I have not received the replacement (said to be on back-order but still available online!!!).Aside from the interior cosmetic defect, the microwave looks great and works fine.

You know I read the other reviews about damage, but the price was so good and the shipping was free.... decided to roll the dice.... Before you do ..... know the odds! The packing on this item is the absolute worst I have ever seen on any item. This is a heavy appliance - Shipping Weight is 84 lbs! We are talking 1/2 to 3/4 styrofoam in corners. I have literally 2x the packing for the 8 lb item I manufacture and sell. I would say if you shipped 10 of these by UPS you would be extremely lucky to get 2 that got through undamaged! Mine is going back and I ain't re-ordering. I have gotten other Sharp products and been pleased.... their appliance division just flunked my IQ test!
