Five Star Reviews: | 67% There are no reviews yet | 66% This stuff is amazing, I have been buying it for years and ... August 19, 2017 This stuff is amazing, I have been buying it for years and am so thinkful the company made something like this! Great Skin Crack Care! Not a Liquid Bandage ... May 25, 2017 At taking care of SKIN CRACKS this is the best product out there. It is not a liquid bandage! If your knuckles are frayed or abraded, or you have fingertip cracks, this stuff will allow the area to heal with a flexible coating of liquid that dries to a pliable clear finish. It will need to be re-applied for a few days until healing is complete. It is not for open wounds, or cuts. It is for ... skin cracks! Works well and doesn't sting July 22, 2016 I've been using this product for over a year now and I think it's great. I've used a similar product in the past, but it stung badly when I applied it. This stuff barely stings at all, and only on the deepest cuts. I use it frequently around my fingernails and it cuts down on pain. Excellent Product July 19, 2015 If you have those cuts on your hands in the Winter like I get then this is what you'll need. I get cut to ribbons because my hands are in water a lot and in the Winter that can be very bad. We have very hard water and my hands sting with pain with the cuts. I just brush this on, it's like nail polish and the stinging is gone. It stays too! It drys on your skin protecting it from the water. I apply it once a week. You only need it on the cuts. I use Zim's crack creme for the rawness and that works great too. Best Seal for skin cracks January 12, 2015 If you let your fingers get too dehydrated (O'Keeffe's Working Hands is the best I have found as a moisturizer), this will temporarily close the cracks. It is the best product I have found. It is much like nail polish. It has much better sealing and adhesive properties than New Skin. I really have not found a product nearly as good as this one.The only down side is that the bottle dries out after a while. Skin crack care sealer January 12, 2015 This is a great buy with 24 ounces in total as opposed to tiny bottles that look like nail polish. You may need to put it on up to four times a day as the finger protectors my husband wears cause sweating and also friction causes it to wear off. This works well but it is not thick-about the consistency of clear nail polish so you may have to put on more than one coat at a time. It helps in conjunction with the waterproof finger protectors he wears as well as latex gloves when he washes dishes. It is not tacky or sticky and will not cling to gloves. Will continue buying this product. | 57% Solid performance July 3, 2017 Always keep some of this type of stuff in the house, office. Great for papercuts, hangnails. Doesn't adhere where skin has to bend and flex, though, but a good option. I hate paper cuts January 20, 2017 Works great to stop paper cuts from bugging you all day and make cuts heal faster Just like a miracle healer cracks on my fingers heal faster. January 5, 2017 Use it on my fingers helps the cracks on my fingers heal faster. This is great stuff. Has an antibiotic and then seals it ... November 9, 2016 This is great stuff. Has an antibiotic and then seals it over. Keeps other contamination out and healing is much faster. Great Liquid Bandage June 2, 2013 The New Skin Liquid Bandage is a great product. It does have a strong odor. It dries very quickly. I would highly recommend this product. | 64% For hard to reach areas and great way to stop bleeding fast. August 15, 2017 Curad flex bandage spray is awesome. I had been using it for a minor cut that is hard to get a bandage properly to adhere and cover. It works great.A day ago I was cutting an item I slipped and cut my thumb pretty well. I was having a rough time getting it to stop bleeding. I applied the Curad flex bandage and in a few seconds it sealed and stopped the bleeding. I am very impressed and will be a returning happy customer. Waterproof and stays put on skin April 30, 2017 Good for areas that a band aid won't stay. Good for washing because of being waterproof. The absolute best for scrapes, cuts, on hairy or bendy parts :) September 9, 2016 Why can't I find this in stores anymore? If anyone knows which store sells these please comment here and tell me! This is the BEST for scrapes and cuts on hands and bendy parts. My boys scream when they see it, and I figure "Hey,it's not like it's Bactine or something, get back here?" but it coats and seals and protects their scraped up bendy parts so they can go back to playing. Also with hairy arms and legs, bandaids don't stick well, so this is a no-brainer and lasts for a day or two with a few coats. It stings a bit at first (I also use it on me, especially on fingers/hands) but the second coat doesn't hurt. It even will fill in little cuts so they will stop opening up and start healing. It's not globby and yellow like New Skin or liquid bandage. This stuff is the best and I wish I could find it locally. We go through a lot of it! Works well August 25, 2016 Works really well. Suggestion: if spraying onto hand cuts, position over a garbage can and spray. Overspray can be sticky to clean up. I had two cuts 3 days ago: one I used this stuff, the other I used Liquid Bandage. The LB cut got a little infected, had to clean it and reseal it again, the one using this (which was bigger) never caused me a moment more trouble. GREAT solution for cuts February 12, 2016 Glue me up Scottie! This stuff is the best. Cut myself while vacationing at the beach and it glued my cut very well. I was able to put on a waterproof bandage on top and swim and play hard all week without skipping a beat. Just reapplied nightly after being in and out of water all day long. |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% There are no reviews yet | 13% This should be called "no more tears" August 26, 2017 Never mind that other brand that stings like crazy. This one does not. And when you put it on it lasts longer. It comes in a pretty small bottle. but I've had mine long enough for it to get a bit dried out and gloppy and since I need to pitch that and buy another my guess is the size is just right unless you've got a pile of kids who are always cutting and scraping themselves. So it's kind of pricey, especially per ounce compared to the competition, but I would seriously buy it again because it doesn't hurt to put it on a cut. Finger and toes cuts December 10, 2016 So small of amount, crazy the bottle tiny it my just fall over, other then the 10 bucks and the bottle, it works. will end up looking for a different brand. Helps with dry skin cracks. November 28, 2016 Cold weather arrives and I get fingers with painful cracks, especially after a few hours shoveling snow. I tried lotions, bandages, gloves - no luck. NexCare seals the crack allowing it to heal. Best of all it seems when it seals the crack, the pain is minimized. As promised May 12, 2015 This stuff doesn't sting and works pretty well. However the only draw back was that the edges would peel and hurt other cracks. This is probably not an issue for most people since I have numerous cracks at all times. Great Product - Rediculous Price July 7, 2013 This stuff is great for sealing up small cuts or cracks in your hands and feet. I use this all of the time and it works really well. The price always seems ridiculous for the tiny bottle of it you get. That said I keep buying the product because it works and I always want a bottle of it in my 1st aid kit. Not nearly as good as 2-octyl cyanoacrylate products September 24, 2010 I was extremely pleased for many years with the original Band-Aid Liquid Bandage which contained the miracle ingredient 2-octyl cyanoacrylate, a human-safe version of superglue which is currently used by doctors/surgeons/vets as the best available product. This Nexcare product doesn't work as well in any respect compared to the original, and 3M knows it, but it is no longer sold over the counter to people (evidently too many folks were not careful in using it). Note that acetone (horribly stinky nail-polish remover) or mineral oil or any superglue remover does remove this human-safe version of superglue, but this was not common-enough knowledge and folks did not have a remover readily available when they misused it. So it was removed from the consumer market several years ago, evidently due to liability concerns.I used the original Band-Aid liquid bandage for many years for my painful winter skin cracks. A miracle product since it instantly cut the pain. When it was discontinued I tried literally every other product on the market and all had serious deficiencies. This Nexcare liquid bandaid is adequate in filling skin cracks except it doesn't cut the pain at all (my main gripe) and doesn't last nearly as long.I just serendipitously stumbled onto the wikipedia entry for Cyanoacrylate, which includes this in its introductory remarks:"2-octyl cyanoacrylate is a medical grade glue encountered under various trade names; e.g., LiquiBand, SurgiSeal, FloraSeal, Dermabond, Orabase, Surgi-Lock and Nexaband. This was developed to be non-toxic and less irritating to skin tissue."I searched amazon and the only two products in the list of 2-octyl cyanoacrylate products above from wikipedia that are sold (by amazon) are Dermabond (0.5ml for $17) and Surgi-Lock 2oc (2.0ml for $40). There is no other liquid bandage that compares to a product with the main ingredient cyano 2oc -- at least that is what the medical establishment believes (and I know from years of experience, having tried all the liquid bandages on the market). Sorry the real stuff is expensive, but you get what you pay for (plus they can charge doctors nearly any price and get away with it).===============================================================Off topic somewhat, the doctors in our family have recently turned me on to an excellent non-liquid bandage which they use, but a year later, pharmacies still do not sell this quite amazing product. However Amazon does sell it, "3M Micropore paper tape" (also called "3M Micropore surgical tape" because that's what surgeons use). 12 small portable rolls of 10 yards(!) each are about $10, which will last you forever. I have been using the 1" wide version for the past year (also have the 2" wide version, but haven't had a wound that wide yet :-) and am very impressed by its properties. You can easily tear it by hand (no scissors needed!) to the length you want, you can put it on a wound in one layer or wrap it around a finger one or more times. It is "micropore", ie. it lets the wound breathe, and is waterproof enough to stay on through a couple of days of showers.================================================================12/26/14 update: "3M Vetbond" is currently the most cost-effective of the thin medical-grade cyanoacrylate products.Apply one layer (1 drop), let dry (blow on it for faster drying), then apply one or two more layers (drops) and let dry between each, to get the desired thickness. One bottle should last for at 50 two-drop skin crack fixups.By the way, the "3M Nexcare skin crack care" product is almost useless in comparison to "3M Vetbond" | 20% I've used this for years ... August 15, 2017 New Skin drys quickly and it will fill in a blemish if it's uneven. You can also apply makeup over this product after it drys. The thicker you apply it the easy it is to remove. It will stay on really well and it will pull out hair or eyebrows if you get it in them ... so be careful where you apply it. It will sting a little bit when applying it if you have an open wound. I've used this product for several years all over my body ... minor cuts, blemishes, etc. Four Stars January 13, 2015 It was just what I was wanted, but not able to procure from my local drug store. | 16% ... in a pinch but it will peel off fairly easily. April 13, 2017 Does the trick in a pinch but it will peel off fairly easily. Tiny can, but if it works as stated, everyone should keep it close at hand! October 4, 2016 I have not had a chance to use it, however as a former EMT, I could see a reason to have and keep with me. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it is TINY for the price! Once I have a chance to use it I will update the review. |
Three Star Reviews: | 2% There are no reviews yet | 7% works ok June 14, 2014 I have used it several time but not sure if it is doing any good but I wouldn't say it wouldn't work for you wasn't impressed March 2, 2014 I work a lot of overtime and my skin sometimes cracks on my fingers. Tried this, applied it several times and could not tell much difference. Don;t think I'll buy it again. Just ok! March 25, 2013 I have to apply it often to protect the crack on my finger. It wears off too quickly. I probably won't buy it again. Worked OK December 10, 2012 My husband gets awful cracks from working outdoors and we were excited when we saw this product. It helped but wasn't a miracle cure. I think that a good hand creme applied many times a day works just as well. He also applies creme and wraps his fingers overnight. That seems to help the most. | 7% Not good for knuckles June 7, 2014 I purchased this for the occasional knuckle abrasions I get while training. The product actually made the abrasions worse when the fingers bent, tearing the wounds open deeper. So this is probably great for flat, non flexible areas of the body but not great for the bendy bits. Just use a bandaid. July 24, 2012 Cons-A-Yes, it smells. So I wouldn't advise using it if you're looking to conceal a wound or are going somewhere your scent will be important to you, because that smell will not go away until the product is nearly peeled off.B-I'm surprised that some reviews state that the product allows wounds to breathe. It does not. If anything it keeps wounds, well, gooey.C-I'm honestly not convinced of its disinfectant quality either. Every time I've used it my wounds have become red and swollen and clearly have pus trapped beneath the liquid bandage in addition to being hot to the touch. I don't know about anyone else, but that sounds an awful lot like an infection to me.D-It also tends to increase the visibility of scars, at least as far as I've seen.Pros-A-If you have a scab or a dry wound you're worried about rubbing on clothes, this is perfect. Both to protect your clothes and to keep wounds from getting worse. Great way to protect your bedding from scabs that are cracking.B-Great for blisters so long as they're dry. Would not advise using with blisters you've not drained yet.C-Way easier to carry around than half a dozen different sizes of bandaids.D-It increases the visibility of scars. So if you like your scars, this is probably a good investment. All told, I think carrying bandaids or gauze and medical tape is a better bet, barring frequent, smallish wounds that are awkward to bandage in any other fashion. It's waterproof... up to a point July 17, 2011 First of all, yes, this product will smell first like the solvent it uses (which should be reason enough to consider other products first), then like cloves. Maybe it smells less pleasant than the oil of cloves it uses to presumably cover up the smell of the polymer? This is also mainly intended for use on clean, shallow wounds, so large scrapes or deep wounds should be treated by another method. It's also going to sting quite a bit until the solvent vaporizes, so don't get the impression that this is like cyanoacrylate. If you get a paper cut on your fingertip, this would probably perform better than the traditional bandage, which can slip off very easily, especially when wet. It's also about as waterproof as the adhesive on most Band-Aid type bandages-- as in, if the bandage is underwater long enough, water will start to get between the bandage and the skin. That means you'll need to re-apply the stuff if this happens, and the effect is worse in hot soapy water (then again, it could be my skin type, which tends to be pretty oily). It's also very tempting to peel off in this state, but I don't advise that if you're still healing, because you might peel your skin off the wound in the process. Ouch.As far as I can tell, the bandage is airtight. Modern bandages try to allow the wound to "breathe" as much as possible to keep anaerobic pathogens from infecting the wound and to help the tissue rebuild itself, so a wound treated with New Skin may be disinfected by its solvent, but it may take longer to heal (I've had this happen before).Thin layers are very flexible, but if you apply more than one layer, it can be quite stiff-- I've had it shear off or even split when it was on the outside of my knuckles, and if there's residual pain deep in the wound, this isn't going to help much. You can use this as a thimble of sorts-- if you've just started playing a stringed instrument with a fingerboard, you may want to put this on your fingers until they become callused. Like an artificial scab - works great for joints August 6, 2009 I had a scrape on my elbow that wasn't healing quite right - every time I moved my arm, the developing scab would crack and expose the wound. And it hurt every time! Regular bandages kept the area too moist, so I tried this stuff. It does sting a ton and it does have a strong smell like nail polish. But once it dries, it doesn't hurt and it's just like a real scab. I found I had a much greater range of painless movement, and the wound healed faster.Because of the stinging, I wouldn't use it if a bandaid would do. But for cuts in odd places where bandaids don't work well, it's pretty good. I might try a different brand of liquid bandage in the future, but I'll finish my bottle of this first. I guess it works... July 2, 2008 Smells like paint thinner or something, nasty and strong smell that lasts forever. It's probably been 6 hours since I put it on. I put a 1 second spray on a 5 inch scratch from my dog on my arm. It covered it well and seems to be like putting super glue over the cut. It stings for a couple seconds and then feels better. The smell made my dog stay away from me for over an hour, lol.I guess it's better than putting a huge bandaid on though. | 12% Ill go back to the liquid vs gaseous bandage spray. August 12, 2016 Spray tends to hit a much larger area than you want. Not great June 30, 2016 I normally use a different brand of liquid bandage, that is not clear, and thought this might be an improvement. It was not, it did not seal the wound I used it on, even after several coats, and it ran down my leg before drying. This did not dry as quickly as the brand i normally buy.It may work for very minor scratches, but I personally will not buy this brand again... This stings like all get out when applied December 10, 2015 This stings like all get out when applied, but it does seem to stay in place for a long time. I give it two coats, at least, with plenty of dry time between. I won't be using this on a child, but it's okay for adults who can handle the sting without screaming. |
Two Star Reviews: | 9% There are no reviews yet | 9% Super dissapointed!! February 9, 2016 They stopped carrying this in stores so i was happy to find it on Amazon. However whatever they have changed in the formula for this product makes it about as useful as clear nail polish. Its so thin and washes off after a couple hand washes. This used to be a great product. I wont buy this again.. Too expensive for what you get January 13, 2016 Like all these products, it works but the bottle is tiny. (.24 oz) New Skin is a much better value for essentially the same product. Don't Count on This March 13, 2015 This stuff is mildly helpful for those nasty cracks between finger and nail that tend to develop in winter, but you have to keep reapplying, and should probably apply liquid bandage over that. I'm a finger-picking guitarist, and my fingers really take a beating. Using this stuff and liquid bandage provided a cushion eventually, but it looked messy and ugly. I did much better using Working Hands hand cream Do not expect this to seal your skin like suture glue or skin glue March 6, 2015 Junk. Do not expect this to seal your skin like suture glue or skin glue, far more worth it to go get Vet bond for you AND your pet. This barely seals and wears off quickly. Lasted about 3 hours and 2 handwashings May 14, 2012 It sealed nicely initially but after washing my hands for the 2nd time in 3 hours, 1/3 of it peeled off. Continuing throught my day the remainder pealed off due to perspiration or something. In the end, I just used Krazy glue and it stayed strong for 3 days. This stuff probably only works on cuts that are not on the hands and are not on joints. I had a cut on the joint of my pinky finger. After the initial 10 minutes of burning and drying, it maybe lasted 30 minutes before I bent my finger and it cracked down the middle, allowing more pain and such into my cut. Seriously, dont wast your time with this and just use krazy glue, they both use acrylate polymer. | 4% Not recommended for runners November 11, 2015 I opened up a small friction wound on top of the large toe "knuckle" on my foot while running. I tried New Skin in lieu of a regular bandage to help it stay covered/protected while I continued running. The New Skin peeled off after a couple of miles on the two runs where I tried it. The first time, no real harm - it just peeled off in one piece and the wound rubbed open again. The second time, which was a longer and faster run, the New Skin peeled off and caused additional cracking in the areas it was covering that weren't previously opened. In short, I'd recommend New Skin in areas that aren't exposed to any kind of friction or bending, but would not use it for knuckles on your hands or feet, nor is it adequate protection for small running-related wounds. I'd recommend using sport flexible/waterproof bandaids and old-fashioned bacitracin along with a foot cream to prevent additional cracking instead. It probably works pretty well for run-of-the-mill everyday cuts and scrapes, though as everyone else notes it smells like paint thinner and stings like heck! No pain - no gain January 20, 2014 I dont know what I had expected, but I just want to let you know that it stings like crazy when you apply this stuff 0.oI used it once, and now it's in the drawer ....I think I will just stick to good ol' band aid. does not breathe well September 8, 2010 recently used this product when my son fell and suffered a scrape on his forehead. i applied two coatings of the product to the wound and almost a weak later the wound has not formed a scab and appears to be quite raw yet. while the product is quite easy to use, i think the wound would have healed a lot faster if left open or covered with a simple bandaid. that said, if you plan to swim then it sure beats using a bandaid or leaving the wound open. Messy, smelly, and takes forever to dry -- but it WORKS! May 8, 2008 I bought this at my local drugstore b/c the Nexcare brand was missing. It does the job, but not very well. It SMELLS (like nailpolish) and takes at least 20min to dry. It doesn't really sting, but it is drippy and messy.I cut my finger while cutting an onion and the cut itself was fairly deep (I think?). The last time something similar happened, I went to the hospital, and I waited for a good while before the doctor applied Dermabond. So I figured I could go buy this product in lieu of a hospital trip...So far, it's holding, but b/c my wound hadn't stopped bleeding when I applied the adhesive there is some trapped blood between my skin and the adhesive. My wound looks flimsy, like it'll burst open any minute. It does the job, but not as adequately as I would like. It smells and it's messy (lacks viscosity), and it takes forever to dry. I hear Nexcare makes a better product (although the new version is purported to be less durable).**On a side note, since my wound is probably "deeper" than most scrapes or papercuts, I should have held the sides of the wound together when applying the product. I couldn't since it was still bleeding...which might explain increased drying time. | 3% Ok- not great March 9, 2017 Not like the old curad spray- didn't cover well or film over well I thought- wish i could get the old curad stuff- that worked well- I suppose it filmed over enough though if you have a cut to keep debri out- I just need something a bit stronger and more of a film- Not as thick as other spray bandage brand. I ... September 20, 2014 Not as thick as other spray bandage brand. I needed more of a protective layer for cuts on hands and fingers, this just was too thin. |
One Star Reviews: | 10% There are no reviews yet | 5% Cheap green handcare moisturizer worked much better. March 8, 2016 Didn't work. Cheap green handcare moisturizer worked much better. I have used several products for skin cracks on finger ... September 17, 2015 I have used several products for skin cracks on finger tips. This one failed. I followed the directions carefully, but the cracks reopened. Product did not work for me. I will not buy again. Not for me August 11, 2015 Didn't work for me on the ball of the foot. I have yet to find one that will work there, however. NOT good July 27, 2012 This stuff has all the adhesive properties of Jell-O. Totally useless. The products containing 2-octyl cyanoacrylate are infinitely superior. At least I didn't waste a big pile of money on this. | 12% Terrible and smelly! January 4, 2017 My husband gets many finger splits and cracks in the winter. We bought this stuff thinking it might be cheaper and more protective than regular bandages. When you open the bottle the smell of nail polish is OVERWHELMING! It was horrible. Then it also stung, even on the skin around the split. To make matters worse, you have to use MORE of it in order to take off what is already on your skin. Is that some marketing ploy to get you to use more? What the heck! We're going back to bandages. Not the same March 19, 2016 They must have changed their formula. I live on this during the winter. Just bought a new bottle and it is not as thick and does not do the job. | 5% |
