Sound amazing w/FULL auditory depth, & deep bass w/remote
November 4, 2017
Im giving it a 5star cause such an easy hook up and sound spectacular. I love the remote which was another selling point for me. I can turn down the bass at night so i dont wake everyone up. Also it can turn down nice and low at night cause i need the sound/tv on to sleep. Well it helps me to fall asleep faster. The sound is amazing i get a FULL auditory depth w/deep bass from them. I already had purchased a connector adapter/converter plug for the TV. This is so i can plug a headphone style jack into it to get the sound from units. This converter makes the speakers usable. Get the piece if you want it for television use. If your using it for a computer then you dont need thee adapter. I really enjoy Amazon Prime Music,& other great apps and channels that are musical now because of the speakers. I had older computer speakers i was using for my television and not even use the tv speakers. So having these give me the body and fullness im looking for in my bedroom. It could be used for living room easy. But i think they are better for bedroom. These really enhance my lifestyle and enjoy these. Only down fall is the cables are pretty short, like 3ft. So not much wire so i had to figure out a way and kinda compromise on the placement of the speakers but now that i think about it, its really the only way i could set it up cause of the set up i have going in my room. Another is i thought the speakers themselves were like a plastic composite material but they are like the old skool paper speakers with paint. But if your an adult and responsible they wont get damaged. But it could be upgraded with longer wires and composite speakers. It still would give the body/bottom you need for that pumping bass. Im watching a Beatles doc. & it sound great even though their older stuff was all mono still sound great on these speakers. So 5stars for a remote controlled, sub-woofer that really kicks, great sound, being able to turn down very low and still hear it without it cutting out, no static, & totally enhancing my bedroom lifestyle, it has its own fridge too. This is for my movie nights, musical hunger, & to replace my old god awful speakers i had that was enjoyable to throw away knowing that i have arion speakers now. My life has changed! Yes its that dramatic for me.
Nice speakers, especially for the price
April 24, 2017
Nice speakers:Do they sound as good as the 4-foot tall monsters I have at home?-no. Do they have all the sound I could ask for on my desk at work?-yes. Had a bit of a trick getting 1 channel to work, would take off 1/2 star if I could for that- had to unplug & replug the RCA connector a few times, but once it came on, has stayed on. Some folks have knocked them for not having enough bass, they are fine for me at about 75% on the dial, but I am not a "bass-freak". Power is a lot more than anyone in a typical office would need, plenty loud to hear 2 or 3 rooms away. Better sound than (admittedly older) 5.1ch "1000W" DVD HTS I had on my desk until it wouldn't play nice with my new notebook that only has 1/8" mini output jacks. Instead of investing in a new sound card (or dragging the DAC I use at home back & forth) to use the old 5.1ch set, I went with these 2.1ch speakers instead, glad I did.
Great speakers at a low price.

I've been using Compaq speakers that were 11" tall for the past 10 years or so. I've used them with 2 or 3 desktop computers. Well, they finally bit the dust. After reading alot of reviews, looking at watts and other things, I picked these Arion speakers because I didn't want to spend more than $20. I plugged them in, and my favorite songs on YouTube sounded alot more clear. No more distortion, no more fading at higher volumes. These speakers can put out some volume. My wife was downstairs and remarked how clear she could hear the music while I was testing out the speakers. If you're into alot of bass, you need to get a 2.1 system with a subwoofer. If you're trying not to spend a lot, you'll be very happy with these. They look and sound great.
but these little speakers work great for what I bought them for
May 19, 2016
I am no techno wizard or anything, but these little speakers work great for what I bought them for. I got a Jenson combo tuner and turntable with built in speakers, but it has speaker jacks for better sound. I purchased this speaker system to go with it and viola! Huge sound for minimal expense and effort. They also do not take up much room. Got the tuner/turntable and these speakers to replace an ancient old stereo system with huge speakers and the end result is awesome sound for our old vinyls at a really shockingly inexpensive rate and a fraction of the space. Since I am not going to blather on about the technical specs, woofer this, midrange that (wtf?), let me just say, I am very happy with the big sound that comes out of these little speakers. The sound is clear and fills my whole huge family room. Just call me a satisfied customer.

March 4, 2016
I have bought many computer speakers throughout my life. Many. As a matter of fact I probably buy them just because I like electronics. I've purchased systems over $200 and some under $20. I must say that this one is perfect. I can confidently recommend this system as the best one under $50. I have already given this recommendation to many of my friends and each of them have thanked me repeatedly for the strong recommendation. My only con is that the system itself is a bit large and doesn't look the best... but they SOUND the best and they look like your normal speakers, so if you aren't looking for a beautiful system, then this one should be added to your cart immediately. Don't think. Just do it. And come back and up vote this review when you are as happy and delighted as I was.
Enhances movie night
September 21, 2015
I am not a big techie when it comes to electronics. All I wanted was a device that can make my movie nights more enjoyable. I have a 55" Vizio and although the sound is good I was hoping for more. After searching for quite some time I settled on this unit. I was skeptical because of the price, but I have now had it for over a year and I like it more each time. The sounds of explosions, voices and everything else really come to life with this unit. The only thing I don't like is that the unit must be turned on/off behind the tower. It can't be controlled by the remote. I just leave it on now. My only complaint is that if the volume is jacked really high the bass starts to break up. I tried it once though. I never listen at the kind of volume. Other than this I find this unit perfect for a cheap home theater system. You won't be dissapointed!

you get what you pay for!!
June 27, 2016
so at first i was a little let down coming from a 2.1 setup but over the past months getting use to these i can now say WOW the clarity and crispness is top of the line. before i was using the klipsh pro media speakers (which i still think is the best bang for your buck) when shopping for a 2.1 setup for your computer. also these 305's do take a little to break in. i really never thought speakers needed time to sound better but its true, in my opinion. so far the only way i could be happier is if their JBL LSR310S wasn't so expensive, bec matching these speakers with a sub would be incredible. but i can't afford the $300-$400 for a sub.P.S. JBL support line is great, even helped me choose a DAC to set up everything with my speakers, and they didnt tell me to buy a JBL DAC either. GREAT COMPANY
The dimensions provided by Amazon are incorrect!
April 8, 2016
These sound incredible but I'm sure you knew that. Not going to cover that as everybody else has but there's one thing I wanted to point out.Dimensions as listed by Amazon, not sure if they're packaging or speaker dimensions but they're both wrong either way:12.3 x 10.4 x 14.3 inchesReal dimensions of the speaker:Height: 11.75 inchesWidth: 7.33 inchesDepth: 9.5 inchesHope this helps somebody.EDIT: Wrote this review a little under a year ago and since Amazon has changed the listed dimensions to (15 x 13 x 10 inches). This is still incorrect but probably more closely resembles the box in which each speaker comes in which I still have.
Blew Me Away
March 11, 2016
I'm not a pro in sound or music production or anything like that but I like to make music every now and then. I just had regular computer monitors that just wasn't doing it for me anymore. I researched and researched for some good studio monitors and I found these. I am a college student so I needed something cheap as well. I found these for $123 a piece and had to buy a 1/8inch to dual 1/4 inch cable and it ended up being about $250 for everything. I do not regret this purchase AT ALL!! The money was very well spent. When I got them, I plugged them in and was absolutely blown away. I angled them toward me and sat in the middle between them. I was astounded. These speakers disappear. It sounds like the sound is right in front of you and the sound they produce is so clear. Just amazing.
Best Studio Monitors under $250. You won't be dissapointed.
January 31, 2016
The best studio monitors at this price level, PERIOD. They produce sound accurately and clearly for film and music production. The response is flat enough where it counts and they combo as great speakers for enjoying any kind of entertainment partnered with a sub. I use them every day, and I couldn't be happier. I've used plenty of monitors, and these are my go to's at my home studio and at the office.HOW THEY COMPAREThey aren't as clear and flat as the Yamaha HS5's but they have much clearer lows and mids, lacking that 'tinny' quality and sound more accurate to how people enjoy entertainment without sacrificing clarity. They aren't as bass heavy KRK Rokit 5G3's, but they also aren't as muddy as the KRK Rokit 5G3's and have a much clearer treble response. They kill the M-Audio BX8's in every single way—the BX8's are muddy, dull, and hard to listen through. Terrible, really, do not buy M-Audio for accurate audio, and I'd say the same thing for the Mackie CR4's. The Presonus Eris E8's just aren't it either. The only opponent I'd say these have are the Adam Audio A7X's, which have a much lower bass frequency response and a much more accurate high response, and are just the best monitors I've ever used all around. The thing is, the Adam Audio A7X's are $750 EACH.You can often pick these up for less than $250 a pair. So just do it. Buy the LSR305's now. Save up. These are the speakers you've always wanted and you've never heard anything like them. What are you even waiting for?
Absolutely LOVE these monitors!!
March 30, 2015
I have been producing music ever since I was about 11 years old, and of course I didn't have the best equipment or the money to buy any accurate monitors. Throughout the years, I have switched from using surround sound speakers to my dad's live dj speakers that you would play at parties (don't ever do that if you're looking for accurate mixes) Even as a kid I always had a good ear for music, and always got frustrated because my music would NOT sound the same in other speakers, such as in a car or even in the speakers of my smartphone. It just didnt sound the same. Part of that was because I was still young and didnt really know about the importance of EQing and compression until I was about 16-17ish. Around that age I learned the true basics for producers, and I realized that YOUR MONITORS ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND if you are trying to get the best, most accurate sounding mix out of your music. It REALLY makes all the difference. I am so happy with my choice in choosing these monitors. They are soooo crisp and you can here every slightest detail in the high end. Not only that but it has a great mid and low freq. response that brings in some pop and punches in the bass as well as the vocals. These are definitely worth the price, especially in comparison with the HS8s or Krk Rokit 8s. I am even more happy that I went to Guitar Center and TESTED OUT ALL THE MONITORS that they had, because I was just gonna believe in people's reviews and buy the Yamaha HS5s straight off of amazon without listening to how they sound. I was very unpleased with how they turned out when i listened to them. To me they sounded to hollow and not very pleasing to hear, but that's just my own opinion. I was slightly the same way with the krk rokits. Who knows, maybe YOU PERSONALLY would think they sound better, but that is why my best advice for every producer, especially those who are starting, is to GO TO A MUSICIAN STORE AND TEST OUT ALL THE SPEAKERS FOR YOURSELF. Monitors should be of the producer's choice, no matter what kind of brand or model they are.. If you like them, you like them! There will always be one that you prefer more than the others, and for me these did the job!! JBL really satisfied me on this one!
Great speakers for the price
June 16, 2014
After using some $20 Altec Lansing PC speakers for the last 10 years, I decided to get some "real" speakers as I am now listening to FLAC files and wanted a nice reproduction. I had read about these monitor speakers on several audiophile sites, and the price reached $120/speaker, so I decided to buy 2 and go for it. I also bought Hosa Stereo 3.5mm Male - Two XLR Male 3m 9.9 feet lines to attach to the computer.Unpacking them, you forget how big these speakers are compared to dinky PC speakers. Be sure to check the dimensions of your desk so that there is enough space. They are also recommending positioning the speakers 30 degrees in your direction. Set up was a cinch, but remember that these are active speakers with amplifiers in them, so I did not attach to another amplifer. Here's what I noticed:1) For all the bass fiends, sorry, but don't expect these things to "thump" like an 80s beat box. I've listened to Massive Attack's "Karmacoma", which has a catchy riding bass lane, which is very prominent on systems like a Bose (in my car) and in my $20 wired headphones. However, the catchy riding bass is not as prominent here, and changes the song completely. That being said, it is more prominent on the more compressed version of the song from "Collected", though still not as prominent on other systems.2) That being said, the bass and treble for the most part complement each other well. While I wouldn't say that the sound was "flat", it definitely was rich without being overwhelming on either end of the spectrum. Playing Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough of Your Love", the opening guitar riff was boisterous, with a good bass complement.3) Mids stand out the most on this speaker, and are great for symphonies or female voices.Overall, very glad I bought these. For $120 each, you would be hard pressed to find such a nice speaker. It is also a good reminder of why to buy a real speaker and not one of those dinky Bluetooth/portable or PC speakers everyone is into nowadays.

Good Gaming Computer Speakers!
April 13, 2017
If you're contemplating new speakers for your gaming computer, I'd steer you towards these.High end gets a 7/10. A little lacking unless cranked to a higher volume.Low end gets a 10/10. Very good. Not over powering. It passed the DOOM test with mild desk vibrations.---Combined with the broken low end/working high end speakers I already have = Great surround sound across the whole spectrum of sound!!Really liked that the speakers used a stereo cable and not a 3.5mm.Would have liked to have had this system replace the other one entirely, but whatcha gonna do. Personal preference is to have the control knob ON the speakers but puck style is the "new thing."
Best New $50 Speakers with Remote I've seen so far
March 5, 2017
Real Talk = Are these anywhere near the best speakers you've owned/will ever own? Heck no. Now that that's been said I can say this = for $50 to just get away from using my TV speakers as my PC Speakers this system is fantastic WITH a remote for $50. If you're looking to get away from the horrible/nonsensical set up (like using your HDTV speakers as your PC speakers) or for having a remote for as cheap as possible you won't go wrong with these. They make me smile. I'd recommend.
Good Sound. Some other issues but don't take away from the sound
August 25, 2016
Well, I am keen to write this review. Why? I like the company, I like what they have done with these medium sized speakers and subwoofer. Ironically, I like them for some reasons that might make others frustrated.First of all, the sound is great. I would probably get a pair of Altec Lansing VS 2621s to compare, the price is almost the same. So no issues there. It is better than what you would expect from speakers of this size and cost. Clear mid, ok high, and very solid bass. The bass is certainly a strong point.I got one set, there was a crackle on the left speaker. Customer service was great, sent me a shipping label to send it back. So far, so good. Then the replacement got stuck in UPS. Disappeared. So they sent me another one after refunding me for the first one. Then again, the replacement disappeared, so now we were in touch with Amazon again. So finally, a third order arrived. Here's the funny thing: the first speakers did not have a notch on the volume and bass control knobs. The ones I finally received as a replacement, or as my third order, had notches. The sum total of what I am saying is that this is a company that seems to be making good speakers, and has responsive customer service, but they are probably still working out the supply chain and consistency in manufacturing. Worth giving them a try, if something is wrong at least you can take it from me that they will do their best to fix it.
Good bang for the buck; loud and clear for computer speakers.
January 12, 2016
Like many of the other reviews my speakers came with some issues. Purely cosmetic; the black vinyl covering at the bottom of the speaker is pealing off on one of the speakers (right out of the box) and the other has some residual glue on the vinyl. I could fix this on my own but it is clearly a sign of a lax QA process as both speakers had the "passed" sticker on the back of them. Other than that they look nice and work quite well for the price. They are loud and clear but the sound is a bit on the tinny side. Although for the price they sound is pretty darn good. The treble and bass adjustments both seem to have an EQ effect on multiple band-widths other than just treble and bass. for example, when I roll the treble back it seems to increase bass as well as decrease treble response. When I roll the bass back it increases treble and decreases bass. You'll have to hear it to know what I'm talking about. It's not a bad thing, just different. I'm pretty impressed with the bass response but fee that the tweeters could be of a better quality. (not sure if it's the cross over or the tweeters, but this is where the tinnieness comes in. I'll be comparing them to the Cerwin Vega 3" speakers tonight to see how they fare.
Awesome speakers
December 9, 2014
I love these speakers. They only cost like $60 bucks. If you buy speakers from Creative or other reputable companies, you can easily pay $150. They aren't the best speakers, but they give you good base and decent sound volume. The way to make these into your home speakers is to attach a Logitech Bluetooth adapter to it. Then having your computer Bluetooth capable and your tablet pc Bluetooth capable, and your Ipod Touch Bluetooth capable, you can play all your devices wirelessly unto this speaker. Imagine watching your movie on your tablet pc, but experiencing (while in bed) full base and full sound on this set of speakers, it's amazing. It's like watching a movie set on your bed! Or if your prefer, you can watch on your ipod touch while in bed and have theatre sound while you're sleeping! At $60, this doesn't break your bank. And to boot, you have one set of speakers, wirelessly, for 3 different devices. How awesome is that? And this speaker rocks! It won't be that $500-$600 speaker quality sound you're looking for, but for the sound you get, it's totally worth it. I really love these speakers, they really impressed me a lot. You don't have to buy 3 different speakers, just buy this one and connect it via Bluetooth to all your Bluetooth enabled devices. If you want, play your audiobooks on it too or music, not just videos, with full base. I think it's totally awesome!*****************************************************************update: I just lowered the rating to 4 stars because my speakers just died for no reason. I had these speakers for 5 months but now they dead, don't know why. Maybe I have to restart them, I don't know. I don't know much about speakers so I don't know what the problem is. I connected the speakers to my ipod touch headphone jack to test it out but no sound came out. So I don't know why they don't work anymore. Maybe they aren't as solid as I had thought they were. If they work again, I will try to update, but so far they don't. It could be I turned on and off the surge protector it was attached to rapidly on and off (by accident), perhaps that caused something to fail, like a fuse. I'm not sure. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is. I'm scratching my head at this.
Great For The Price
September 21, 2014
I received mine in 2 days with free shipping. For the price, they're pretty good. The subwoofer has a deep rich tone and the unit gives my TV a great surround sound. It comes with cables for an auxiliary Cd device but if you're hooking it up to your TV using RCA type cables you will need to buy them it doesn't come with them. These will need to be connected into the aux ports on the subwoofer. The speakers come with the cables which by the way aren't very long. I didn't have any sound out ports on my Samsung TV so I spliced the wires in through the sound system of the TV and everything works just fine. For some strange reason, the mute, aux and CD indicators are all lit up at the same time. I don't know what that's all about. I would assume only one at a time would be lit up indicating what function is on at the present time. All in all, I have to say it looks good, sounds good and is price competitive. If I have any problems with it I'll post again to let you know.

perfect for your budget!

it has a good amount of bass without compromising the real flatness of the sound. Sleek looking too. I recommend this to be your first monitor.
good bass response and reasonably flat across the range
April 29, 2017
Although these JBL's are one of the cheaper monitor speakers on the market, they definitely punch above their level. They are crisp, good bass response and reasonably flat across the range.

Excellent for the price!

These are superb near field monitors. I use them to mix and master every day and I can really hear things in the mix that I used to miss. Decent bass response, but for serious surround or heavy bass work, you need a sub in your setup. Very clean and balanced audio.

Top sound for a budget product but don't buy for longevity.

Arion Legacy Studio Quality 2.0 Speakers with 5 Inch Subwoofer, 1 Inch Tweeter, and Trapezoid Wooden Cabinets - AC Powered 80W RMS (AR604) Purchased 5/2015 for $100, time of death: 9/24/2017. Initially had a speaker go bad with the tweeter going out, but it was early after buying, so it was all replaced by Arion. That was good, but it was so early, I would expect so. Good service though. Later they developed an interference, light buzzing sound. Customer service at Arion couldn't swap them out due to it being over a year later, but they did give me advice on things to check. Per suggestion, I was getting interference from my wifi router that I'd recently moved just a bit too close. I swapped the speakers left and right, reversed the input cables to maintain proper stereo and it was fine after that. That's not on Arion, although it's odd that they would pick that up. Shielding would be nice, but then these aren't necessarily pc speakers. Now I have a horribly loud buzzing that seems to be the transformer on the inside failing. I can't find the part.I bought these for a 2nd time. Why, when they've failed would I do that? The price has dropped to $60. At $100 they sounded better than anything else under the original $200 MSRP. At $60, if they last 2 years, it's tolerable. I'll hang onto the old ones as parts just in case. Also, I don't care for running wires all over the place to accommodate a subwoofer. These are just great sounding stereo speakers, and have the range of sound that beats any 2.1 system anywhere short of $200 that I've heard. My Logitech Z-5500 beats them out by far, and is still kicking after 11 years, I might add, but right now, I'd rather pay $60 every so often than pay big bucks. I also split my time with some headphones (Logi G933) so the speakers aren't required full time. Presumably that will preserve them some.Would I recommend them? If you want a great sounding speaker that you want to count on for years to come, then no. If you want excellent sound but don't have the budget to spend $200+ to buy something more proven, and are ok with the risk, then sure. Obviously I feel that way since I'll be on my 2nd set--due to the $40 price drop. I wouldn't have if the cost was higher. If it goes badly, I'll be sure to update.Adding a picture of the transformer that I believe is what has killed my current set, just for posterity.
Settings Lost When Turned Off
August 8, 2016
I'm completely satisfied with the sound quality at the price. The remote control is a nice convenience because I often listen to Pandora at some distance from the speakers. The three stars are due to a most unfortunate characteristic: the unit loses its settings between power cycles. Every time I turn it on, it's necessary to raise the volume from the minimum setting. The seller acknowledges this as an oft-reported problem. With the remote, adjusting the settings is not hard to do. However, the remote is a membrane-switch item with an unknown life. If and when it breaks, I'll be in trouble. There are the same buttons on the front of the subwoofer, but the subwoofer is on the floor.
Choose something else...
January 18, 2016
First, there is too much mid-range in the sound and no way to adjust it (only treble and bass). The volume is okay, loud enough, but nothing like I was hoping. The speakers, as you can see, are exposed so it's easy to dent them. The controller buttons are difficult to push and my controller has stopped working correctly. Increasing the treble, for instance, lowers the volume. Also, the television controller I have (a Samsung model) must be on the same frequency as the speaker controllers because one controller is always trying to mess with the other item. There's no way to adjust this. I bought these for my son's TV because I wanted speakers with a remote. He has muscular dystrophy and I wanted him to be able to change the volume with a remote (he's in a power wheelchair). The buttons on the remote are too hard to push for him. I have to push pretty hard to work them myself . . . which is beside the point now because the controller buttons don't work right anyway! Bottom line, these speakers do work but they don't sound the best and the remote may quit on you...I would advise something better even if it costs a little more.
Remote control receives ALL commands from ALL remotes.
November 7, 2015
If you're going to use it in a room with any other remote control, don't. Whatever remote control chip they're using it basically will take ANY signal from ANY remote and repeat the last volume command from it's remote.Example:Say it's hooked up to your tv, and you raise the volume with it's remote, then scroll through the channels on your tv, when you land, the volume will be much higher like you kept holding the volume up button. Or vice versa if you initially pressed volume down, if you scroll through a bunch of channels, or fast forward on your dvr, when you stop, it will have taken that remote signal and repeat the last command sent to it with it's remote.I guess it would work ok for a desktop computer setup, so long as you don't use any other remotes in the same room.On the plus side, if you lose the remote, pretty much any other remote should be able to interact with it in some way.
great sound but the cords are not at all durable
April 10, 2015
Brought these and when they arrived realized the headphone plug was loose; me being a music lover i had decided to buy these because i usually buy cyber acoustics but my nephews now enjoyed pushing in the bass air bubble which damaged the speakers. So in general i was looking for a more durable speaker. So i listened to the quality and these are awesome but because of the loose headphone plug it broke after two days of use i noticed the whole cord is flimsy to begin with also i heard the humming that others referred to if the speakers were not in use, and you left them on, they hummed, which i didn't see as a problem i just shut it off. These speakers are awesome but unfortunately i wont buy again because of the simple fact i need a more durable input plug.
Good Concept, Poorly Executed
April 3, 2015
Had no problem with the subwoofer other than the awful rattling from the plastic buttons when turning bass settings up rather than just muddying the base though, it does preserve it's tightness.. The two studio monitors worked fine until I noticed the plastic circle each one had pasted on. It literally crumples inward if applied pressure on and one of the speakers already came with it dented. When I examined the other to see what the deal was, that one too crumpled under force. Also, the crumpling of the plastic inserts has inserted random cracks or pops to be heard on sharp drum hits in my music.Tl;Dr Save your $50 and add another to get better studio monitors as these have been underwhelming but I will have to make do with them.

Didnt meet my expectations but its a decent speaker
Quiet speaker
July 12, 2016
This is supposed to be a studio speaker. Not only are they supposed to have clear accounts tics, they are supposed to be louder than the sound of an electronic drum being hit! The previous studio monitor we had was incredibly loud.
These are ok

these are ok ... i may need to treat my room to give final analysis
Music Listeners: YES! Audio Engineers: Approach with caution.
January 10, 2016
I bought these to replace two Yamaha HS8s that sadly broke. The HS8s offered a very flat sound and even though the highs could seem funky at points, they were brilliant for mixing and mastering. The JBLs are the polar opposite in that respect and have a way more colored sound (low and mid-lows). However, they sound so good at the right volume that it's hard to get mad over it. These things have crazy bass. While the HS8s needed a subwoofer to experience sub bass, the JBLs pick them up with no problem (albeit, a little muddy at times). As listening speakers, they are brilliant, and I highly recommend them to those who just want to listen to music at a moderately loud volume. As reference or engineering speakers, they're a little harder to recommend. You can certainly mix and master with them, but I can't see anyone doing this without having to use headphones or another pair of speakers as reference. I am still undecided on whether I will return these and get another pair of HS8s or not.

Decent sounding speaker.
Great sound, but hissy
November 7, 2014
I upgraded to these from Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 as my desktop speakers. Comparing to those, I can't describe LSR308 as anything less than fantastic. I also went to Guitar Center and compared the latest Yamaha HS8, Mackie MR8MK2, Presonos E8 and KRK' Rokits. These JBL's do indeed sound the best just like everyone says.BUT, and it may be a big one depending on your use and standards, these produce a very noticeable hiss (unplugged from the source) that cannot be reduced by any means. I at first thought it was ground-loop related,so I bought 2 different Furman power conditioners and a grounding adapter, which didn't do a thing. I also tried different power outlets in different rooms. My outlets are properly grounded, as verified with a circuit tester. So yeah, today I went back to Guitar Center and what do you think their demo 308s produce the same very hiss! This led me into testing every single of their demo monitors. And here are the results.LSR 305s/308s - same level of hiss at each level of volume;Presonus E8/5 - same as aboveYamaha HS8/5 and Mackie MR8 - have hiss, but it goes down with volumeKRK - no hiss at first, but hissy once warm up after a few minutes. So yeah if you are looking to replace your desktop speakers and you have high standards for quiet, this might be too annoying. Keep in mind that I'm sensitive to noise. I built my PC with silence in mind (such as suspended in the air hard drives to prevent case vibration, large extra slow fans etc etc).I researched this hiss topic extensively. It's a normal occurrence in active monitors at any price point. The only thing you can do is to get monitors whose hiss goes down when you lower the speaker output.

Ok for the money but wouldn't buy them again.
June 10, 2016
The mid and high sounds are clear but I would expect this speaker sound to put out better sounding lows for the size of the sub. I use it on my desk and hoped that it would really deliver great sound all the way around. Since it is in my home office I will continue to order them but for the price of the speakers, next time I will try something else. Another downside is the length of the speaker cords, I cannot stretch them further than to each side of my monitor stand that holds two 22" monitors. The speakers should be able to go further apart.
Disappointing speaker sound, good bass. Confusing and annoying display.
May 25, 2016
I'm using these speakers on a Panasonic 50" Plasma TV that has analog RCA output jacks. The speakers are OK, but don't provide much better sound than the built-in speakers on the TV. Not very rich or pleasing. In that regard, the Arion L-R speakers are very disappointing. However, the Arion subwoofer does provide much better bass output than the TV speakers. It can boom the base. The setup of the speakers was easy. The display on the the LED screen of the subwoofer is very confusing and annoying. For my setup, it was very important to see the volume level because I am trying to use the speakers for the main sound from the TV, with the TV speakers "off". Using the remote that was supplied with the AR508, I can control the volume level, but despite all the flashing lights on the display, none of the icons shows the volume level. There are also adjustments on the remote for the bass and treble settings, but these do not have indicators, either, so you have no idea where either are set when you push the +/- buttons on the remote. The display does indicate that it is receiving a signal from the remote by flashing an icon, you don't know where you are. This is a poorly designed system. If you're going to provide an LED with so many lights and flashing icons, one of them should be the level of the knob you are adjusting.Overall, I would have been better off buying a sound bar for the TV. I thought I could take advantage of the fact that my TV has analog outputs (newer TV's do not) and use a cost effective speaker system to improve the sound. This isn't it.
consider your needs b4 purchasing. Seller gets an 11 for customer service.
May 10, 2016
See below for my original review, but the most important thing here is the stand up customer service which I received from Eagle Tech. They noticed this negative review and of their own accord sent me an RMA and a pre-paid shipping label to return the item. I am still disappointed with THIS product, but I will ALWAYS purchase from Eagle Tech, if they carry what I'm looking for after seeing how well they treat their customers. Thank you guys, Thank you for being just plain AWESOME!now for my critique of the product which has been slightly reworded to be more cordial now that I see how great these guys are:bass is awful. low mids are seriously boomy and the subwoofer cannot be disabled.Although this has a digital display, it is nothing more than a glorified thump-meter for those who like bass-y music. It does not display the current vol setting nor treble nor eq. Don't be fooled by the pic, it's not as fancy as it looks. the only way to get a flat eq is the "reset" button which also resets the vol to some unknown value (3/12 or sth like that)(here this is unmodified: I truly intended to just keep them and then discard them when I could buy better ones, but again these guys at Eagle Tech are AWESOME)they were cheap enough that I'll not return them and just use them until i have some $ for better ones, but I would not recommend these at all. I regret not going with another item which did not have a remote. If you are considering this because it has a remote and your other option does not, then I'll tell u right now: don't make the same mistake I did. Buy the other one.new:if you like rap or other similar music and are just looking for a nice loud speaker that delivers a hefty thump, consider them indeed. but for instance watching Game Of Thrones, or other shows that have high bass/low mids in the bg music, those tones just turn into an obnoxious droning hummmmmmmm and drown out the voices big time.
Arion Legacy AR508LR-BK 2.1 Channel Speaker System with Subwoofer & Remote for MP3, CD, PC, Video Game Consoles, & Home Audio Sy
April 1, 2016
I ordered this after scrutinizing the other reviews for tis product. Most everybody said the sound was very good and it couldn't be beat for the price. When I first hooked it up I was excited, but soon turned to disappointment. Don't get me wrong, it sounds really good, but the loudness was simply not what I expected for 140 watts. I have computer speaker systems that blow this away, and I spent less than $80. When I hooked this up to my TV, the remote for my TV controlled the stereo with every push of every button, making the speakers go crazy loud or quiet. It simply is not compatible nor tolerable. When properly adjusted, it made my TV sound great, just not loud. Also the only way to turn the unit off, is the power switch located on the back, (which you have to feel for it), and that is very inconvenient. I will probably keep it and hook it up in my workshop, with a MP3 player. There are better options out there for the money.
Sub woofer hums & buzzes on power up
December 23, 2015
Sub woofer has an annoying hum on power up.The hum does not go away no matter what you do,It's flaw in the sub woofer.Wired remote is nice and functions OK.Contemplating on returning this system.Fit and finish is decent, but the hum makes this a regrettable 2 star purchase.Actual unit is a 1 star, added 1 star for the remote and appearance.Every time I go cheap on buying, this seems to happen.Would NOT recommend to a friend, or anyone who reads this review.
Returned; 1 speaker defective, will update soon.
January 6, 2015
I had to return to Amazon, 1 speaker was defective. However they show much promise, the one that worked sounded good. I'll update review when new pair arrives. The new pair arrived promptly, Amazon was great to deal with. The new pair of speakers seem to be differently configured than 1st pair, the controls work like I think they should work. Whereas the tone controls increase as you tun them up, the first pair cut the signal when turning the knob. Now to the sound of the speakers, I'll only give a qualitative review as I don't have any way to test actual response with a tone system. Let's just say they sound very good at all volumes. I don't hear any distortion at any volume that I tried and they go quite loud. They can be used for any type of device that has RCA plugs(2 holes)or a 3.5mm plug (1 hole, ipod's,pc's lap tops etc.).These are a giant step up from typical pc or TV speakers. If you're willing to risk ordering Chinese product and maybe having to swap for a new pair these are worth a lot more than the 100 dollar price tag. They go very loud, louder than I can stand up close and work great on my new TV. New rating 4.5 stars.

You get what you pay for in music
May 19, 2017
These speakers are fine for listening to music but not all that great for use as monitors in a studio setting. After all of the positive reviews I guess I expected better. They work but I wasn't all that impressed with the overall sound quality. Maybe I'll install an A/B switch and use them as a way to double check mixes along with higher quality speakers. For the price, they're just ok.
good price to performance, or not?
November 18, 2016
Bought lsr305 for its good price to performance. Then it broke after 6 weeks, which is after the return date. Since it’s under warranty, I go to my local service center as listed under JBL’s warranty information to get it fixed.Told them to tell us about any fees before going forward with anything. Turns out they shipped it to the factory first and then told us the fee after, and now I have to pay a bit over 35% of what I bought the speaker for, towards shipping, or else it will be sold after 2 weeks.Sometimes too inexpensive means you’ll be picking up the slack on the quality control.Update: Some interesting things with altered forms post-sign & one JBL "we can't help you later", the store decided to let me pay the actual shipping price. Nice, since labor & parts was supposed to be included.
Not So Great as described
October 20, 2016
Just about okay.speakers 1/3 the price do the same job.
sorry JBL I wanted to love you...
January 19, 2016
These are cheap speakers that sound good .Sadly ,certain notes played on the bass guitar caused Audible vibrations in the cheap cabinets that made them impossible to use as studio monitors. I returned them immediately and bought Yamaha HS8. The Yamaha's are a dream ..,quality is outstanding...I felt I paid to much for the JBL's and too little for the Yamaha's ..save your money for the Yamaha s...,
Listen BEFORE you buy!

I got these mainly based on the reviews listed. Well, based ONLY on the reviews listed. My buddy says, "Did you listen to them before you ordered them?" NO! Listen before you buy! Learn from my mistake.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR FROM THIS COMPANY!
July 30, 2017
We have had these speakers for 6 months. A part inside one of them cracked. This should last longer than six months. Now I get to fight through their warranty process.Update: For 6 month old speakers, we will be refunded a prorated amount, meaning, if I jump through their hoops, I may get $35 back. Their warranty person does not seem to understand that an internal component cracked and he/she keeps asking me for pics of damaged cables as well as pics that I have already sent.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE THE WORST!
Constant problems with single speaker playback.
July 18, 2016
Honestly, it took me a long time to come about writing this review. I bought these speakers because I had a feeling my last ones had died on me. My previous speakers had one of their sides not playing any audio. So I got these and, lo and behold, sound only comes out of one speaker. "Must be my sound card" I reasoned and bought an external USB sound card to test this idea.As it turns out, it wasn't the sound card. These speakers were delivered to me with only a single one actually functioning properly. I'd return or replace them but most businesses have a bulls*** rule about not being able to return anything that's already been used or opened so I wasted my money for a pair of speakers that only playback through the right side. I can't reccomend buying these if this kind of thing happens ever. Lacking one side of sound is one of the most annoying problems to have with a set of speakers.
Picking up radio station, massive feedback, and floor pegs coming out.
February 28, 2016
So here's the thing. Got these speakers and the bottom pegs came out. not a huge deal. The radio station it kept picking up was though. They were rendered unusable because of the buzzing and nearby rock songs that they were playing. Couldn't do anything about it. I did buy some different speakers and no radio station was picked up. So... Pretty unimpressed. They did sound good otherwise.

August 20, 2015
These speakers seem to suck. Hook them up to several different computers - all the same reaction. Vocals sound like they're coming from another room - way in the background. I'm running Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 on various computer systems. I've checked all my sound configs - nothing seems to be amiss. And YES, smart alecs - They're plugged in, and they're plugged into the proper jacks. Don't have any idea what I'm doing incorrectly, if anything. Guess I'll give them away, not worth selling as they only cost around $50. Bad purchase on my part. Those reviewers that raved about these things - more power to ya dudes. Didn't work as advertised for moi!
The first set worked great for a few weeks then all of the sudden ...
September 8, 2014
In the last 3 weeks Amazon has sent me 2 sets and BOTH have gone back. The first set worked great for a few weeks then all of the sudden this horrible buzzing coming out of one speaker. Also within days the blue display on the amp/bass faded almost completely out. Remote never worked.Second set came and the sound was great and no buzzing but the amp/bass display didn't work. The color was there but no bars to signal if you were turning the volume up or not. Remote never worked. Highlight to this set was when we had no radio on and all the sudden at 3am huge banging started coming from the speaker. We thought there was a gun firing. We unplugged them and sent them back as well.DO NOT BUY THESE SPEAKERS. 120 Watt.
First set died.. second set they died too!
October 29, 2013
Back to one star.. three out of three units are dead. The longest they've run in total was over a year.Updated once again to two stars.. only for Amazon Customer Support issuing a full refund once the dead speakers were returned. The Manufacturer Customer Support reached out to me and offered a full refund which I have to acknowledge is a very decent thing to do considering the product was past it's short warranty period. Safe to say I'll be steering clear of this brand until they can get quality control in order. I'd pay more for a product that'll work. Like I said originally I liked the product.. hard to keep liking when it ends up being a paper weight.Updated my review to one star. Two out of the three of these I've purchased are dead. This one of course had a 60 day warranty?! Of course I'm outside that warranty now and guess what's taken a noise dive like the other unit! Now I've another set of dead speakers the manufacturer isn't supporting or replacing. I'd strongly recommend spending more and getting something that actually works. Of course once I talked to Amazon they were good enough to allow me to return them. I'll just spend more on a better quality set of speakers next time.Original Review:I'm unsure about this brand now. First set died an early death. To be fair Amazon had a new set out in the mail almost right away. The second set seem to be good so far but I'm concerned as there are a number of reviews out there complaining these things die early. This has of course prevented me from buying another set. I do like the remote, the sound is full and clear, connected to a LED TV without issue. Appears to be a good product but final judgement will have to be reserved to see how well these things last.

Very disappointed.

2 years of light use and one in my pair has stopped working. Very disappointed.
Not what I expected.
November 29, 2016
These were not that great. They were too small for my liking and the sound wasn't what I was expecting. Sent it back and got the Yamaha HS8s. So happy now!
Theses monitors are not professional grade.
June 7, 2016
These monitors are mo where near professional grade. Total junk. I have used all major brands over the last 2 decades of my music production career and these are as low grade as you can get. Better of getting m-audio bx8a.
Disappointed

speakers sounded awful, when I got it, there is this loud buzzing/ hissing sound.
