I love this color and the fact that it lasts longer than other similar colors by other brands. It is extremely helpful to have tools at hand to address roots first and then the remainder of the hair. This is sometimes hard to find, so I like to be one month ahead on my supply. Note that I have hard well water so a color that doesn't change and turn brassy is a must.

The photo doesn't do it much justice, but in the before there was a lot of yucky gold tones in my hair. Also, my roots were very dark. This lightened my roots to the exact color that the box said it would, and eliminated most of the gold tones from the length of my hair and really cooled it down. I'm very pleased to have finally found a box kit that does exactly what it says it will! My hair is very stubborn and responded well to it. Now that my roots have lightened, I'm purchasing it again so I can get that cool look all over!

I absolutely love this hair coloring kit.. I've dyed my hair about every three months for years. Mainly to keep the shine and color that it brings but now to keep the grays invisible as well! This is the first time using a two part system for dyeing and it seems to work great. I use the dark brown shade as my natural hair is dark brown as well. The directions are easy and simple to read and follow. And the smell isn't as strong as some brands that I've used before. It does take alittle while longer as its two steps. But it also seems to work a lot better! Rinsing it out in the shower, doesn't stain anything like others do and it seems to rinse fairly quickly. Love the aftercare conditioner, it's my go-to for a special occasion whether I've colored recently or not. It makes your hair so silky and smooth.

I've been coloring my hair for about 10 years now, strictly for gray coverage. My hair is very dark brown and I've never strayed too far from my natural color. I'm not using the "dark" or "darkest" shades anymore since I'm going for a softer look. Matching dark hair can be tricky and unfortunately the results can be pretty one dimensional. Not with this hair color! The grey coverage is fantastic and I swear it looks like I've added highlights at the same time. I really love the results!Painting the roots and then adding to the lengths makes for cleaner application in my opinion. I manage to make kind of a mess with most other dye products but haven't had that problem with the VS Salonist.One thing I love about this product is that you're supposed to wash your hair after coloring. That is atypical for hair dyes and it eliminates any dye smell. The color comes out with a lot of depth and my hair feels soft and looks shiny.I agree with some other reviewers that the greys do lighten over time but the color doesn't fade out completely. With the brown shades, it seems to be a lighter reddish brown. I usually use medium natural brown but once I got stuck and had to use medium golden brown. To be honest I didn't notice a whole lot of difference.I was buying this in-store but I haven't been able to find it recently. I like it so much that I was actually super relieved to find it on amazon. You won't regret trying this one!

I've colored my hair on and off for 30 years, both in a salon and at home. This product is hands down the best I've ever used. The color is true, the hair is undamaged and shiny. I've signed it up for my Subscribe and Save. I'm hooked.As for the 2 step aspect, I think it is one of its selling points. Using 1 formula for your roots and another for ends prevents the ends from grabbing too much color. The results are definitely worth the extra step.

I used to use Feria but I use this VS Salonist color exclusively now. It has great permanence and is very shiny. I have wild hair and this tames it down along with some hair gel. This also completely covers grey roots without any fading at all during the life of the color which is about six to eight weeks and probably would go longer if I didn't have the grey growing. It does not dry my hair out and it comes with a conditioner that really saturates and rehydrates the hair. I used to try and get this at the local big box stores but they would be out or the packages would be mauled and torn up. By getting it from Amazon regularly, I am able to avoid the crowds, the parking, and the disappointment of finding this very popular item missing from the stock. I have used this particular color many times and it is always consistent and fabulous for me. I have medium hair thickness but lots and lots of it (close hair pores). I have very short hair just to my hair line at my neck and one box does it for me but I know in the future, as my hair grows out, I will need probably two boxes. If you have long thick hair, get two boxes. If you have thin hair from short length to medium, one box would probably do the trick.

This is my favorite of the Feria Power Reds. The color turned out just as indicated on the box, even with my hair being faded from previously being dyed red. I have med-long thick hair, so I do recommend getting 2 boxes of this if you have the same hair type.

I absolutly LOVE this product!!! This color has gotton me more compliments than any other. I used to be able to purchase it at the local walmart, but rarely. I will be ordering it from now on thru ammazon. The black glooves that come with it are better to use and fit alot better. I bought this expecting not to have my hair lifed very much as other products have been that way in the past. I have medium to dark brown hair and this lifted my hair so well! I have long hair and ran out of the dye before i was finished so unfortunately my lengths are darker in the back of my head and lighter in the front but it actually looks nice. I will be buying 2 more boxes (so i have enough) and will be doing it again in a few weeks to go even lighter!

The platinum blonde was my favorite hair color. i would tone it with purple shampoo and my hair turned this pretty white blonde and i miss this color with every fiber of my being

This review is for the Absolute Platinum color. If you have any experience doing platinum blonde yourself with bleach powder and developer, you'll know that it's messy and kind of tricky. Nothing gets your hair whiter than doing it yourself and applying the Wella White Lady toner, but it's a rocky process such that it's easy to fry your hair, have uneven spots, or even accidentally tint it purple. Salons in NYC charge you upwards of $200 for just roots and most of the time I'd leave with yellow hair I'd still end up having to fix myself. Enter Feria Platinum. I wasn't too sure about this at first, but decided to give it a shot and I love it. I am totally back to platinum thanks to the ease of use, the cream spreads really well so you get good coverage, and it didn't fry my hair. For truly white platinum you'll need to get a different toner than the conditioner in the package, but overall this is great stuff.Each time I've gone platinum it's been after having dying my hair red or black. I used this product most recently after dying my hair red (also with Feria) and I'll share how I got my results. My recommendation for doing it with this product is to first start gradually lightening your hair with a golden blonde color. If you're in a hurry, do it once a week. If you're not in a hurry, do it when you you touch up your roots, and gradually go a shade of blonde lighter. The last color I did was the Bleach Blonde which ended up making my hair pretty yellow, as expected. I wore a hat for three days and didn't wash my hair. Today I used the Platinum, putting it first on the darker strands of hair that were still holding onto the old red. After 20 minutes, I worked it into the rest of my hair, then let it sit for 20 minutes. Total time was 40 minutes. I used a disposable shower cap to cover it to prevent the color from drying out and to keep the hair "warm" from the heat from my scalp. My hair is not perfectly white on the ends, nor did I expect it to be, because of the previous red dye. It is pretty light though and only slightly yellow. I plan to use some of my Wella White Lady toner on it in a week after my hair has had some time to recover. The most important thing to remember with bleaching your hair, you need to give your hair time to get some of the oils back and to recover. Have a back up plan for how you'll wear your hair (hat, scarf, etc) while you're letting it do so, in case it's in an awkward state.If you do not have experience with bleaching your hair and your hair has been chemically treated, I highly recommend you do not use this product and have a professional do the initial lightening on your hair. If it's not light enough, that's ok, give it time and then try this product to get the final lightening once your hair has recovered. If you have really dark hair, you might need to do it twice. I'd recommend doing a test strand to see how long it takes to lighten your hair and how light you can expect this product to get it. For really even coverage in the past, I've used a full head hair dryer (one of those things that you cover your head with a cap and warm air circulates).I have naturally dark blonde hair that is somewhat fine and very oily. I like having it platinum because then it's not oily by the end of the day, and it gives my hair some texture and body (where normally it just kind of lies flat). I had given up on keeping it platinum because the upkeep was just too much for me, but since discovering this product, I'm back to platinum and happy I can finally maintain it without the disappointment of expensive and inconsistent salon results.

I used to get my hair colored at a professional salon and spent a fortune each time. It was always a great color, but it faded quickly. A friend suggested coloring it myself, and as nervous as I was about it, I figured the worst that could happen is I run back to my stylist and beg her forgiveness.The color was a little darker than I expected, but it was very pretty. It washed out to something closer to whats on the box. It looks natural on me (I'm a brunette), but it has a red shade to it. In the sun, it looks reddish too, and extremely shiny.And not only does the color look good right away, my hair is so much softer after switching to this.

I got this for free from Vidal Sassoon. I love it. I've been coloring my hair for many years. This kit is the quality of professional hair color. The two step process was easy. First I did my roots, waited the 20 mins, applied the serum to the remaining color and pulled it through my ends. The results were shiny, even, rich color. I used the nuetral black. Some at home kits left my hair with flat color. Salonist left my hair vibrant and shiny. Loved the results. Highly recommend.

I have dark brown hair with just a little bit of gray. My hair basically looks black now. In sunlight you can see the purple, but....Seattle. I like it, but it's not what I was hoping for. I'm giving this 4 stars even though it really has only given me 3 stars worth of happiness. The color swatches on the website look much brighter than they do on the actual box, so the color I got is a relatively good match for what is on the box, but a poor match for the color shown on the website. If I'd looked at the box in the store, I wouldn't have purchased this in the first place. My hair is in good condition after using it.

I love the vibrant color and the brush and 2-step approach, but I found, after coloring my hair twice with this product and explicitly following the directions, that it tends to leave the top/roots brassier than the rest of my hair, so it looks like it's two different shades. Plus, I have very long hair (longer than the box model) so I need to purchase 2 boxes of color and it's better to mix both in one dish -- so I wish the dishes were somewhat larger. The product tends to spill over the top and mess up the counter top if you don't stir it really slowly and carefully when you combine the ingredients of 2 boxes into one tray. VS should consider that not everyone using the product will have short enough hair to require only 1 box of product. I do, also, wish that the color was more multi-tonal. This is a stunning color, and the application approximates what you get in a salon. I wish the results were closer to the glossy, multitonal color you get from a salon as well.

love the two step process, very easy with color that looks fresh and healthy. the color looks very natural and even between the roots and ends. would totally recommend this for at home color with salon results without the expense of a salon.

Extreme Platinum review: First of all - DO A STRAND TEST - also read the instructions. My natural color is brown. I had dark red dyed hair 6 months ago and started trying to lighten it, and I used 3 lighter dyes in succession. This has led to very damaged hair. After the last lightening (hair color shown below), I used color Oops and then I applied a protein filler so as to get the best possible results before using Extreme Platinum as I have been advised. In the shower, once the dye was rinsed, my hair felt like brillo - seriously damaged (it was pretty bad before I started) I applied the conditioner, and when I got out I sprayed a ton of leave in conditioner which seems to have done the job of making my hair almost smooth. I am somewhat happy with the results, but I probably should have left it on longer. I did a strand test because I was nervous about the results. My hair lightened a lot in about 10 minutes, and after that the changes in color were much more slow. I knew I could leave it in for 25 - 30 minutes, but timing the roots was much trickier. My hair is now patchy at the roots, the sides very light, some actually platinum, and the top with orange-blonde roots. My hair looks pretty brassy, and the roots which were 2 inches and dark brown did not dye evenly, and since they are now patchy they will require either touch up or another dye. I have decided to dye it extra light cool blonde by Vidal Sasson to get rid of the brassy-yellow appearance. Pictures show before (first photo) and hair right after lightening.

Great Color, I have had many compliments on this. The only thing is, it fades out faster than hair colors. I have to do my hair twice a week.

I buy this to dye over the section of my hair that is bleached. When it starts getting bronze-y I'll use the hi-lift brown and it brings it back to a nice shade of ash blonde. If your hair is dark brown, you may not get the results you're expecting, definitely will most likely not look like the color on the box. When I used this on the dark brown portion of my hair, it came out the typical reddish shade of brown. So I would only recommend it if your hair is naturally lighter or to refresh bleaching/highlighting that you have.

I like the color and the quality of the product. If I was younger I would wear all the time. But I am 65 with considerable gray and the gray area is brighter than the rest of the hair on the gray area even though there is hair coverage. It's just brighter and ordinarily would look like highlights in those with less gray. Too bad for me because the rest of my hair looks great.

I LOVE this hair color! This is EXACTLY the color I imagined for myself and I went from a dirty blonde to this. I was quoted 150 for professional services and I just couldn't afford that. but this is $8.50. I left it on 45 minutes for good color development. It's beautiful. There's highlights and low lights. It's completely warmed up my skin tone and brought out my eyes. I've bought quite a few boxes. My only complaint is it bleeds. I do not wash my hair often and every time I do it bleeds but I'm two weeks into my new look and it's still amazingly colored, soft, and shiny! I'm so so happy with it!

Product lifted my med-dark brown hair to a light "peanut buttery" brown. Slightly strange color but pretty cute actually. A little warmer than I would like but may try the UL 61 next time. Using "bluing" shampoo helps with timing out brassiness too. I used Aveda "blue malva". Hope this helps!

Faded almost completely away in three weeks. Feria's red lasts much longer and is prettier too.

The results are beautiful. Applied on light ash brown hair, with a long history of bleaching & dyeing, the color pops and leaves strands feeling fortified and thicker to the touch.BUT, as great as it is, I don't know yet if I"ll ever buy this again because of how fast the color dulls. With every wash, the color leaks out right along and just two weeks after day 1 with minimal washing, the vivid vibrant red hues have cooled to dark maroon kind of look.

Worked good , color came out as expected and it was enough to do my really thick hair

I love the color but it's more a color I would use in the winter. I was trying to get a lighter, brighter red like that on the box but it was much much darker with more brown than red and my hair is normally a dark strawberry blonde so I wasn't expecting it to make my hair so much darker. Also there are more steps than usual at home hair dye and I'm not really sure it seemed to make that much of a difference from some other good quality brands that don't have these extra steps.

This product made my roots extremely red and pretty much did nothing to the rest of my hair. The color in my ends faded quick. It's not worth the money.

As always very fast delivery with Amazon Prime. When I first received this Vidal Sassoon hair color I was very pleased with the professional look of the contents. Bowl, brush, pretty gloves, toner, developer and awesome conditioner! After completing the hair coloring process, my hair looked absolutely gorgeous. Brilliant, soft blonde. After a while I noticed that the color of my roots have turned brassy. I have even tried a toner to try and get rid of the brassiness, but it's still there! I really wanted to love this product. I've tried it twice. But I don't want the brassy color on my hair!

Absolutely loved the color (Intense Auburn), but it didn't last long at all. It faded extremely fast. Switching brands.

I did its job. My hair felt pretty dried out after using this, so I reccomend making sure you use a nice conditioner or treatment for your hair afterward, but the color came out really nicely. Used this as a prep for dying my hair pink and I think it's going to look really nice after my hair has had some time to recover.

Purchased the "Intense Copper" and the resulting color was nice, but a bit darker than anticipated.The worst part is that the product is VERY watery, so is not only harder to apply, but also to cover... I have longer hair and needed two boxes.

First of all.. lets start by saying this product only works if you leave it in 45 minutes to an hour. If you take it out in 25 minutes then I can see why everyone said their hair turned red. My hair is like a wine color and I started out with a medium brown color. The roots are really wine compared to the ends but it came out as the color I expected. So far I like the color but when it fades I will probably dye my hair jet black. The best way to describe this color is red wine or purple red.This color might turn out violet black if you used it on black hair.. but then again.. you would probably just have super wine roots and purple black ends. lol Hope this helps.

I thought this would turn my brown hair a more blonde color. But no. I only gave it three stars because it did lighten my hair but left orange, brassy tones in my hair. I would only buy again if my hair was already blonde and I was trying to get it even more lighter. But to go from a dark color to platinum, no it won't do that.

I recently bought this hair, got it in the mail on time through seller 2011superdeals2011. The box was missing the aromatic shimmer serum and they refunded me my money right away. I read on line that you can use without the serum, so I did it looks good the exact color on the box, but next time I would like to use the serum. The color made my hair dry , but I grease and condition in the shower every day while hair is wet. I let the shower mist my hair everyday it helps to keep my hair moisturized. I use organic castro oil and shea butter leave in conditioner.

Not worth the price. Not impressed with the results at all - I have very thick coarse hair and this product didn't color any better than any others I have purchased for less money. I finally decided to have my hair professionally colored at a salon and the difference was amazing. Will never color my own hair again (after 10+ years of home coloring).

I am middle eastern with black hair I followed the instructions exactly and got different colors in my hair. My roots look light brown which is the color I am aiming for but the lengths look very dark brown to black

Would not buy again. Very difficult to apply to hair with the little mixing container and soft bristle brush. Messy and color didn't last long.

I was excited to try out this new hair color, but wasn't pleased with the results. It didn't cover my gray roots very well. 5 weeks later, the rest of my hair is really faded out. This might be perfect for someone without resistant gray hair. The other negative is how you apply it. (With the enclosed brush and tray) I found it difficult... especially the back of my head.

The root treatment causes the top of your hair to be an uncanny bright color and the rest is dull. Not for blondes

I tried the medium golden blonde. In three weeks it was gone with only a few shampoos. Also it's quie involved to apply. I'm going back to Revlon.

TLDR: Buy Vidal Sassoon instead. They have several plum / lavender / purple shades.Details: I always used to use Feria when I was doing shades of light brown, and was very pleased with the results. So when I saw that they had this shade, and now I am doing my hair in "funky" colors instead, I was thrilled.The box came with more than just the usual bottle + liquid + conditioner tube. It was a little like a chemistry project. I was excited, thinking how great the results would be.I was very disappointed. It certainly colored the hair well, but the shade was a much more pink-magenta color, rather than a plum or violent. Worst of all, it stained my scalp. Bright magenta pink.The results are not terrible - once I got my scalp scrubbed clean with Sea Breeze and alcohol based hand sanitizer - but certainly not the color I was looking for.The Vidal Sassoon brand comes out a lot closer to the depicted shade.

It doesn't spread as well as other hair dyes due to the powder and overall thickness once the powder is mixed into the solution. I use Loreal Preference Extra Light Ash Blonde instead.

More red than anything.

My hair is med brown. This dyed my hair red with a few dark highlights. Its very very red. I'm thinking about getting black dye to cover the red up. I was hopeing for more of a black/lavender color. I would not buy this color again.

Just for root touch up? The directions have you brush on roots for 30 min then smooth the rest through your hair for 10 min. Well my roots came out light but the rest of my hair came out red and brassy. I followed the instructions correctly too.

Looks absolutely nothing at all like the color advertised on the box. I got "light auburn" for my lightened hair and it turned out like a dark totally fake purple barn red disaster. Not a natural red head look as they make you believe. Gonna cost me a lot to fix this...

Color didn't last. Washed out too quickly. I will not buy again.

This is the second brand of home hair color that I've used recently. The first brand gave me a good result, but after 6 weeks, it did fade some. So, I was ready for another coloring, and I decided to try the Vidal Sasoon based on advertising that there is a 2nd formula which blends the long hair color with the roots. Well, it was a COMPLETE BUST. I have gray at the roots around my face, and this hair color turned those roots to ORANGE vs. RED. OMG, I was a mess. I've used home hair color many times and am aware of how to follow directions, which I certainly did in this case. Also, the gloves enclosed were extremely tight and very difficult to put on. I had to keep them on while waiting the 30 minutes for my color to work, and it was very uncomfortable.I had a party to go to the next day and didn't know how to hide this horrible color. I considered wearing a hat, but I braved it and wore my hair styled as usual. But, I was so embarrased that people would think I was a crazy hair person (people who dye their hair outrageous colors for fun). And, on top of getting a terrible color result, the time it took for the 2nd step was rediculous, and it obviously didn't work ... the color of my long strands was barely red. Thank goodness my whole head didn't turn ORANGE, but the contrast between the hair around my face and the rest of my head was entirely different. My normal hair color is light brown, but it has been dyed red recently, using another brand. So, it appears that the color from this brand didn't work at all on my long strands, so where's the benefit of the 2ND FORMULA? The answer is, THERE IS NO BENEFIT! And, from some previous reviews, the color won't last more than 2 weeks anyway, which I guess I should be grateful for. Long story short, I WILL NEVER USE THIS HAIR COLOR AGAIN and will be requesting a refund on the box I used and the spare that I purchased.

My hair was blonde, and the color came out okay but washed out completely within 2-3 washes. I've used 5 boxes of this. I love L'Oreal but I do not love this product. I think the model looks gorgeous on the box but this is not what you will look like after using this product, by any means.

I am so sad because it didn't work at all. It just bleached my roots and lifted the dark blonde a bit. I died it pink to distract from it but this isn't worth the money unless you are just touching up roots. Don't use it to actually make your hair go from dirty blonde to platinum because it definitely wont!

I am VERY disappointed that there were such glowing reviews when this product sucked for me. My hair is blonde, I just wanted it white-blonde. Forget it. I got a brassy penny color and even a toner afterwards didn't help. Don't waste your time or money.

The box lies! It took three times to get my brown hair anywhere close to platinum (and fried it in the process). If you're trying to go from dark to really light your best bet would be a salon. If you're trying to go from a different shade of blonde it might work.

Used two boxes on hair that had mostly been bleached before. It was very dry and didn't spread very well through my hair. It left several patched that barely lightened. I left it in for an hour and a half, and was not impressed with the color, lots of brass left. Dying it dark ash blond and getting shampoo with tonor seems to be helping with the final results.
