Side by Side Comparison of: Fisher-Price vs The Original Big Wheel

Got this for my 2 year old for his birthday, although he can not reach the peddles yet that doesn't slow him down on it. Everyday he asked to go outside and play on his blue bike. Even my 5 year old wants to ride on it and fits on it really well. It has held up really well and I can tell will last many years.

good ol kid-plastic (as i call it) indestructable stuff. your kid should be taller than stated to reach the pedals, but the 2 yr old i got it for doesnt seem to mind just scooting around on it by pushing from the floor. i dont think it will ever break, and if it does, ill be quite surprised.

After reading the descriptions of how many people said their two year old fit on this I decided I would risk it and buy it. My son is 2 years old and 36 inches tall and he can not reach the pedals all the way through the cycle. I would say that another three to four months maybe 38 inches tall this would be perfect for him and that is all the way at the front of the seat. Otherwise this is a very sturdy looking product and will probably last a while

This is the second time I have purchased this tricycle. I run a daycare, and this is one of the kids' favorite things to ride. Since it's kept outside I didn't put the stickers on (since they'll be ruined by the sun), but it still looks nice. It's easy to assemble, the directions are very clear, and it's a solid little trike. It gets ridden by multiple kids (ages 2 and 3) every day, and it has held up great. The only thing that comes off sometimes is the orange seat, since it opens up on a hinge. The kids tend to open it too roughly to put things in the hole under the seat, and when they do this sometimes the seat comes off. They can't reattach it themselves, but it's easy enough for me to do. I highly recommend this tricycle for kids aged 2-3.

This was a present for my great-grandson's 3rd birthday. He loves it. Dad was impressed at the quality of the motorcycle when he put it together. Now the boys have a motorcycle too, just like dad. Will probably end up getting another for the bigger brother. Arrived as expected. I truly do like being a Prime member with all the benefits attached, including the free 2 day shipping.

My kids rides this tri-cycle everyday inside home and she loves it.. it is safe as well.

I bought 2 big wheels for my kids and the instructions and assembly are easy for one person. If you are handy enough with a phillips head screwdriver and a hammer, these put together quickly. My twins 4 yrs love their bigwheels and with the adjustable seat-back, means they can use them for awhile. I have found an outlet for a lot of their energy!

I purchased 3 big wheels for my grandkids to ride when they come over. After putting them together I was worried my 7 year old grandchild was too big but it worked great for her! Very happy with the big wheels and my grandkids love them.

Bought this for my Grandsons 3rd birthday and he absolutely loved it. I love the colors of this big wheel, it was perfect to transform into a spiderman big wheel with all the spiderman stickers I bought and applied to it. One happy little Birthday Boy!!

A gift for my Nephew's second birthday. He was beyond excited when he saw it, and has loved riding it outside.It does need to be assembled, but all pieces were included, and it was a fairly easy process.

My husband didn't have any issues assembling this and my son absolutely loves it. We've had it since Christmas and it's holding up very well. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the foot pedals area hard to reach. My son still can't quite reach them, so he peddles with his feet on the ground.

My 3 year old son loves this trike. He is always zooming around the yard with it. It is easy to assemble and takes about 5 minutes. The pedals are reachable for my 3 year old and he has no problem handling the trike.

My 3 year old son love LOVES this bike. He rides it all day every day. The bike isn't the greatest quality but it's sturdy enough for me to feel safe with my son on it. I do however wish some of the washers and "parts" involved in the assembly of this, were more tight fitting but overall it's pretty decent. My husband assembled this in about 20 minutes or so. For how excited my son is to play with this it was worth it, in fact the price is a total steal. And the handling of this bike isn't so bad either, as he zips around in it making sharp little turns like it's no big deal at all.

Took about 20 minutes to put together. Bought for my daughters 2nd birthday. She can not reach pedals yet but can push herself from the ground. Seems sturdy for outside except I'm sure if we leave it outside the decals will wear off as they did not stick very well. Good for the price.

My 28 month old son absolutely loves this bike! Although his legs are still a little too short to reach the pedals, it still hasn't stopped him from getting on and pushing it with his legs Flintstones-style! I did -1 star because the seat keeps coming off when he lifts it to put stuff in there. And it's not like he's ripping it open, it literally comes off when opened normally with normal force. So either I got a defective seat or they may all come like that. But its easy to put back on and even if the seat is not present he still plays with it.

I now feel complete as a father, seeing my 2 year old riding around on this historic vehicle.The only reason I didn't give it the full five stars is because the steering has a lot of "slop" in it, the handlebars move quite a bit before the front wheel actually changes direction.

Just like I remembered it from my child hood. My daughter is turning 2 at the end of this month, she is pretty tall, however is not yet able to reach the pedals. I would have given 5 stars, but the seat pulls out too easily. That is my only gripe.

Plastic materials but seems sturdy enough. Biggest problem is that my 2.5 year old daughter who is above average height still can't reach the pedals. Not for most 2 year olds. Should say 3 and older. And for 3 year olds you should probably get a real trike

SUPER COOL and easy to assemble. I'm a little bummed because if a kiddo can't reach the pedals or hasn't figured out how yet, the back tires are a little too close and their heels get caught up in them. Definitely not a sit and scoot kind of ride. I wished it was a little more of a recumbent type "big wheel", but I think that is my own need taking me back to childhood. It just seems like kids that can reach the pedals are ready for a two wheeler or training wheels and kids that can't are unable to really move around at all. My kid looks cool on it, great photo op and my brother in-law worked for Harley, so maybe it's more of a prop than anything. I'll check back in when the kids get taller.

We ordered this for our grandson for his 3rd birthday. I specifically wanted the Fisher - Price trike as his daddy got one very much like this for his 2nd birthday 28 years ago. My issue is that plastic that the handle bars and fork parts are made of. Shame on you Fisher Price for lowering the quality of these trikes. I was so disappointed when we took the parts out of the box. Everything else looks good but those parts look cheap. I don't blame Amazon for this~ this is squarely a manufacturers bad decision. I wish I could give it 5 stars but because of their cheapness I can't. he will still like it because he doesn't know the difference but I can tell you this Grandma does..

Assembling it was not easy. The instructions are not even in color print which would have made things much easy.In all the experience was an initial setback.As for the bike, my kids are yet to ride as their legs dont reach the handles yet at 18 months old. Will post an updated review once we are able to use it.

Kids love it and play with it for hours. I did give 3 stars because it is super noisy when you turn the steering wheel. It sounds like a very loud trumpet hahahaha I always know where my kid is!!

I'm giving a 4 star only because it doesn't seem as well made as I remember. My son does love it but the handle bars seem loose even though I have them as tight as they will go. The molded plastic still has some sharp edges that I had to trim so my son wouldn't hurt his hands. Not quite worth the money I paid. Seems more like a 30 dollar toy.

I got this as a Christmas gift for a family member. I'm a little disappointed with the quality. It seems like a cheap dollar-store knock off, but the price doesn't reflect that. I was expexting much higher quality, especially in the tires, for what i paid for. It's still cheaper than others on the market, but I'm not sure how long the tires will last. The back tires have no tread at all - just smooth plastic. The boy I bought it for has had some trouble pedaling it, and he's a tall 5 year old. I sure hope it lasts.

I bought this for my grandsons 4th birthday. He leaves it at our house because no place to ride at his house. He has only visited twice since he got it, on Aug. 20th, for his birthday. He rode it this past Sunday.... (3rd time it was used) and he came carrying the seat that broke off! Very weak & flimsy. Went on here to request a new seat, only to see that, since it was shipped 8/9/13 (although not even received & opened by him til 8/20/13) that my time was up.... It broke on Sun. 9/15/13.... Less than a month after it was opened! Would like to get a new seat for it, as this one must have been defected. If not, my review is down to 1/2 star! Thanks, Mickie

It shipped quickly. Wasn't too hard to put together (according to the spouse). It was a little difficult for our then 3.5 yr old (it was a Christmas gift from the guy in the red suit), to reach the pedals to drive through turns with the seat all the way forward, but he can reach them fine now..except the posts on the seat snapped off while he was riding it last week. No horsing around has happened with this trike all he does is sits and pedals. The bigger kids haven't touched it so Im guessing there is some issue with the plastic. Im going to contact Amazon and see if I can get a new seat back shipped to replace it. I hope its a simple process.

Poorly designed. It was difficult for my three year old daughter to reach the pedals when she did get big enough, the front wheel would slip instead of catching the ground when she pedaled. It's quite frustrating to see her try to pedal away and not move. Our driveway has a slight incline to one side and she cannot pedal across it on this trike. I'd highly recommend the Radio Flyer Classic Red Tricycle, 10-Inch Radio Flyer Classic Red Tricycle, 10-Inch as opposed to this one. Bought this for my 2 year old. It is an average quality bike. His feet don't stay on pedals well and tires are quite slippery. He ended up using it once and now the bike is just sitting on our patio.

I agree with other reviewers:PRO:- This seems to be a durable, well-constructed bike. As I put it together, it struck me that all the parts were heavy duty.- Of the options out there, this is a great-looking and beefy trike for the price, and it's a great price.CONS:- The child can get his/her foot caught between the pedal and the wheel - this happened within the first ten minutes.- The trike is poorly designed for "short" kids even though it's supposed to be suitable for kids starting at age 2. My 3yo is 37" - his legs aren't quite long enough to pedal all the way around. They need to design it so that the seat is closer to the pedals.- The trike tips easily - at least when the kid moves it by having his feet on the ground. When my kid tried to turn, he tipped over. More than once. Come on - a TRIKE that tips over? The problem could be avoided if the back wheels were farther apart. Because of this, I can't let my kid play with it outside on the sidewalk - which defeats the purpose of having it in the first place.I know a lot of reviewers said their kids who couldn't reach the pedals just put their feet on the ground to make it go and it was just fine. I let those reviewers sway me to buy it and I wished I hadn't. Bottom line is I wanted a trike my kid could pedal easily - one where he could just hop on and go and have fun. He does make it go with his feet on the ground, but it's awkward for him, and as previously mentioned, he's tipped it over several times. Once he gets taller and can reach the pedals, I'll update this review. But for now, I'm giving it two stars because it's supposed to be appropriate starting at age 2, and with my kid at age 3, it still doesn't work for him.

Plastic wheels provide absolutely no traction on concrete or grass. Glad it was cheap, will donate.

Cracked after using a few months. No longer safe to use.

This is NOT the original Big Wheel. Both my children had them when they were young, and this one for my grandson is not as big nor as sturdy as the ones they had. The material is cheap, it is cheaply put together, and smaller than the original. Don't try and pass this off in your advertising as the ORIGINAL BIG WHEEL. It is anything but...

Front tire won't stay on ground well. Have to lean forward over handlebars to get tire to grip ground.

I bought this for my 4 year old grandson and the front tire just spun on the tile and the front sidewalk

THIS ITEM IS DEFINATELY NOT AS THE ORIGINAL AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO ADVERTISE AS SUCH. IT IS A SMALLER AND A CHEAPLY BUILT RIPOFF OF THE ORIGINAL. IT REQUIRES TOTAL ASSEMBLY WHICH IS DIFFICULT BECAUSE THE PARTS DON'T FIT AND THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE MINIMAL AT BEST. MY KIDS GREW UP WITH THE ORIGINAL BIG WHEELS IN THE 70'S AND LOVED THEM SO I WAS ANXIOUS TO HAVE MY GRANDDAUGHTER EXPERIENCE THE FUN BUT THIS IS A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT.

My daughter is pretty tall for her age a little over 2 and a half years old but her feet couldn't reach the pedals. She was struggling while trying to pedal with her toes. I'm returning it

White portion of the seat does not fit properly causing it to pinch the thigh when sitting on it. Not sure how you are supposed to take it apart to ship it back once assembled, since the wheel nut is friction fit and designed not to come back off. This is really a safety issue which Fisher-Price should seek to resolve quickly

The trike wasn't used much; but after less than 5 months of infrequent use by my 2 & 1/2 year-old daughter, one day the seat was wiggled loose and came off; she fell into the ground and started crying. The seat was designed poorly and can come loose easily. I had to tight it down with a rope to make the trike usable again. I am very disappointed with this unsafe, poor quality product. The trike itself is also not very stable when riding on hard concrete surface.

I'm very disappointed in this product. It was not worth the price I paid ($55). The plastic is cheap, and there is little to no traction on the wheels. The front wheel slips constantly when my son rides it. I would like to return it, but can't take it apart. This is NOT even close to the original Big Wheel!

We bought this for our grandchildren to ride when they were at our house. They loved it until they started riding it and the "cap nuts" fell off the very first time!! Talk about disappointed kidsos!! Retailers don't carry the cap nuts you must order them for $3.50 and pay $20 to have them shipped! Ridiculous!!

This was actually kind of hard to assemble. I had to get out a drill and drill holes in one of the parts where I was supposed to be able to use a screw. Also, it's really cheaply made. The pedals won't stay on it. Very disappointing product for the price.

This is a nightmare to assemble. Seriously, an exercise in frustration. Start with lots of time and patience and expect to get very angry. This is one of those times I would pay more for a pre-assembled model. My son hasn't even seen it yet and I hate it. And yes, it seems to be as cheap as everyone says it is. I don't expect it to last long. Definitely not like the big wheel I remember as a kid. It's pretty disappointing.

Sorry. Not the original Big Wheel. I had one, so did my brother. Material is totally different and causes a traction problem that is fine for spin outs but not for a five year old who needs to pedal to the garage when playtime is over. You know that feeling when you see parts of a toy that just don't look that sturdy and well constructed? That describes how I felt pulling everything out of the box. Big disappointment to my lil' racer in training :( Not Amazon's fault. Manufacturer fail. Advice: Hold on to those great memories of the awesome Big Wheel some of us remember and keep looking for something fun :)

After ordering the Big Wheel from amazon I read the reviews, I then decided to call All in Toy's and ask them about there product, Original Big Wheel 16 Inch Tricycle, after talking to them I was told the original company went out of bussiness about 2 years ago and another company bought the patent rights to this product. I asked if the product was the same, and was told the it was the one with the hand brake and spoked front wheel. it is not the same as the picture shown in Amazon, so I cancelled the order. Amazon needs to conferm a sellers product and conferm if it truly is an original product. Disapointed.............
