Five Star Reviews: | 86% Overall a good nailer. Has decent power [won't do 2" nails ... July 8, 2017 Overall a good nailer. Has decent power [won't do 2" nails into white oak, but most wont]. Like the smart point. Very high quality tool, worth the price! August 13, 2016 Very nice and refined tool. I installed new baseboard in my entire house and this nailer made the job easy. | 75% Dewalt quality -- works great. August 1, 2017 Installed 400' of baseboard and door trim with this unit. No problems. Typical DeWalt. Feels just right in your hand! May 10, 2017 This trim nailer is just great. Like all DeWalt tools, it is well balanced. It feels light. It loads beautifully. It nails flawlessly. Good value, good quality, works 100% January 25, 2016 After ~5000 nails w/zero duds or failures, couldn't be happier. Easy to load / unload, good balance. If I have to gripe about something, that'd be the belt clip - somewhat annoying if you don't actually need it on your work. Great Nail Gun September 2, 2015 Worked flawlessly during finishing work on my home - I wish I had one of these years ago! Loading is easy and I never had a single jam after months of use. Only issue was that I'd sometimes run out of nails and wouldn't know until I felt a different hit... solved by checking the rail feed before each round of nailing. Wish it had an automatic stop after the last nail, but keeping an eye on the nail supply worked just as well. I'd buy this gun again... figure it will last longer than I will. First Nail Gun January 6, 2015 I bought this nail gun because it had the highest rating (for a 16g gun) on a web site that rated nail guns. It is my first nail gun. I used it on a couple of small projects and it worked great. The instructions say to use only DeWalt nails but I was not able to find the DeWalt brand nails anywhere so I bought some Hitachi nails and they worked fine. I would recommend this product. |
Four Star Reviews: | 7% Good product June 26, 2016 4 stars because I haven't had it long. The extras are really cool like the pencil sharpener and the air you can blow out of the front. So far so good, but seems to be a little cheaper feeling than my last bostitch. Great Nailer! June 20, 2014 I have wanted one of these forever. I'm not a carpenter, but there is plenty around the house to fix or put back together. i never was much good with a hammer either. Now, when the quarter round molding in my kitchen or bath comes loose or has to be repaired, I use this. It's great for just about any project, because its easy to load and uses several different lengths of nails. I recommend it. | 15% Four Stars March 28, 2017 Nice nailer...haven't used it much:but seems like it will be just what I needed. Easy to learn and use July 11, 2016 Received the tool this past Saturday around noon. Read the instructions and did some practice on scrap wood. In about an hour after receiving, I was confident in using the tool on my current project, which was installing an exterior door. The tool would be used to attach the trim. On the exterior I used 2-inch nails since the trim was 1 inch thick. Worked great and made the job much easier. Granted this was a limited use, but I had no jams or mis-fires. Great finish nailer. January 26, 2014 First finish nailer I have owned. I don't know how i lived without one for so long.Great power and adjustments.Only thing i don't like is the loading of nails. First I wish there was a way to have the clip hold more nails. Second, when I reload nails, I often have the spring loaded tensioner shoot closed by-passing the loaded nails. This happens more with a completely full clip. I just have to draw the tensioner back and make sure it hooks the loaded nails. Third, to completely fill the clip you have very little room to work the nails down the clip. As i mention before the tensioner often jumps past the nails and I have to use my finger tips. Love it except when running 2.5" nails January 17, 2014 I would happily give this nailer 5 stars if it cleanly ran 2.5" nails. I've run 1.25, 1.5, 2, and 2.5. The first 3 run seemlessly. The 2.5" need help feeding in the magazine. If you assist the feed, they fire clean. For reference, I was running Dewalt branded 2.5", so I can't blame it on some of brand that Dewalt wouldn't have tested. Thankfully, I mostly run 1.25 and 1.5", so it just slows me down occasionally. Trimming Gun May 5, 2013 Good power, no misfires, easy to clear out jammed nails; balance is good, complements my Dewalt 18 G gun. Study carrying case; gun is absolutely what I require for my trimming gun assortment. (15G,16G,18G,pin) .Outperforms in replacement in this catagory (porter-cable 16). Would recommend it highly. 16 Gauge Finish Nailer April 30, 2013 I enjoy using the Dewalt D5125K nailer. This is the first air nailer I have owned. It sure beats pre-drilling holes and driving nails by hand. Occasionally, the tool does not fire. This seems to be when the nails are not in the chamber exactly straight. |

August 17, 2017 Great for commercial use not every one else in a blue moon mine broke the second time I used it and only used one other time Jammed after 6th nail October 23, 2013 I have not put thru a real work out yet but was showing my girlfriend my new toy and it jammed after the 6th nail. I bought the gun and Dewalt nails together to avoid any problems...but it jammed quickly. I will update after I install my molding this month. |
Two Star Reviews: | 5% Very disappointed, gun jambs a lot March 4, 2016 Very disappointed, gun jambs a lot. would like to return it, I am a builder and my tools must work as promised, this is not even close. Nailer may be OK, FN style nails are horrible. October 28, 2014 I sent this nailer back without even opening the package. I love the concept of this nailer and I even have some other Bostitch nailers that I adore, but I looked at Bostitch's new FN style of nail first. The new Bostitch FN style finish nails are terrible. Bostitch you need to get new header dies for these nails. They are the lowest quality that I have ever seen. I am a retired tool and die maker/tooling engineer. I am glad that I had the sense to open up the nail package and take a look at them before I opened the new Bostitch "Smart Point" 15ga FN style nailer that I purchased. I sent them all back. Good concept on the nailer; horrible execution on the nails. | 1% Upon receiving I shot a few nails to test and it worked fine. Five months later I needed the nailer to ... October 27, 2016 I purchased this nailer well in advance of the construction of the finish work of my new house. Upon receiving I shot a few nails to test and it worked fine. Five months later I needed the nailer to use for my intended use, after shooting the first nail the nailer plunger assembly would not retract. I contacted the seller and was told they only warranty for 30 days and to contact DeWalt, I did not. I disassembled and found the nylon sealing ring on the piston came out of the ring groove and bound up the plunger making it not able to retract. I ordered new parts for $50.00 and now waiting for delivery. I needed the nailer immediately is why I did not send it in for warranty work. |
One Star Reviews: | 2% ... chore making the benefits of this nailer irrelevant It's good looking, good performing gun (with the 25 degree ... June 12, 2015 this nailer takes 25 degree nails which are next to impossible to find locally making buying nails thru the day for projects a chore making the benefits of this nailer irrelevant It's good looking, good performing gun (with the 25 degree nails, 25's are pretty uncommon nails) but if you can't buy nails locally it really does make sense to buy this gun | 6% BUYER BEWARE! December 5, 2016 I have actually purchased this same finish nailer TWICE in the past 5 years and BOTH units have quit after 2-3 years each. The first one's nail tip assembly quit working, and I though OK, maybe I dropped it?? Since it was getting the job done before it broke, I replaced it with the same product. The latest one got a jammed nail that I couldn't remove, so I took it to the DeWalt Service Center in Carrollton, Texas where they looked at it and told me a nail was stuck way up in the channel and the unit would have to be rebuilt at a cost of $95, which was NOT covered by the warranty. The serviceman said nail jams were not covered, as they were usually caused by the nails themselves. I told him that I was using DeWalt finishing nails. But guess what! The DeWalt nails do not have a warranty. So the "bad" DeWalt nails cause a breakdown in the DeWalt finishing nailer, but there's nothing DeWalt can (or will) do about it.I bought both nailers to use to replace the baseboard and door trim over time on ONE house- my own. If quality, reliability, and integrity matter to you, then don't buy DeWalt! Not happy with my purchase November 25, 2016 I'm really very jealous of all the favorable reviews here because it was not my experience at all. I read and reread the manual looking for something that I'd missed but the nails jam or refuses to feed all the time. I haven't used oil- it's about the only thing left to do, although it's optional according to the manual. I rented a more expensive Dewalt nailer (the one with the slanted nails) and it was everything I'd dreamed. Can't figure out if I'm missing something or just got unlucky. Don't buy this nail gun June 9, 2016 This finish nail gun is the worst I've ever had or used. I purchased this based on prior purchases of Dewalt products of which I have many. Out of the box it delivered 2 nails every few nails and jammed each time. The Dewalt was to replace my Porter Cable gun that died after 21 years of faithful service. After the DeWalt failed I considered buying another Ported Cable, but alas they are made by the same company with the same nose configuration so instead I ordered a Bostich. The Bostich I received today and with limited use it appears to work fine. that was a waste of money February 22, 2015 After eight months of minimal use the gun has conked out. Figured it was air issue so I changed the valve and o rings... that was a waste of money. Should have gone cheaper! |
