Amazing for chopping onions!
September 9, 2017
This chopper is amazing!! I love cooking, but used to absolutely HATE chopping onions... until someone gave me this chopper! Now I simply have to quarter the onion, throw it in the chopper, pull the handle about 10-15 times, and they're ready to be used! No more teary eyes or spending a long time chopping onions. The cup is big enough to fit a whole onion... I think the capacity is 3 cups. There's tons of other uses to this as well... you can chop pretty much anything from herbs, veggies and fruits, to making salsa and guacamole.

The blade, the plastic container and the storage lid are dishwasher safe, which makes for an easy clean up. I usually just wipe the lid clean, since I'm almost exclusively using it for onions.

This is the second time I'm purchasing this same chopper, the first one broke after about 4 years of use. I used to wash the lid in the sink with my other dishes though, and I think the cord on the inside of the lid must have deteriorated and come apart, because nothing happened when I pulled it. So make sure to only wipe the lid clean. Although, to be honest, this chopper is so amazing, it's totally worth replacing it every 4 years if that's what it takes!
LOVE IT!
July 29, 2017
I use this if I will be doing lots of chopping for salads or dishes that call for cut up vegetables. It is compact, easy to clean, and the size is controlled by how many pulls, so you need to watch, if you want larger bites. I love not crying over onions now, and don't dread all the prep time because the chopping goes pretty fast. The blades are sharp, so be careful when cleaning. The blade shank has to be seated properly in the center to work, but it is simple....not much to break, which is another plus!
Get one now, best thing ever!
July 12, 2017
One of the best investments I've ever made. I just chop my peppers and onions into medium size chunks and pull the handle a few times to have the perfect sized veggies for stir-frys, scrambles, sandwiches, etc.Nice to have control over how many times you pull and get anywhere from chunks to diced veggies!
Also this is SUPER EASY to use! I have joints that don't stay in, so lots of veggie chopping can get hard and some of the choppers out there are next to impossible to use- especially if you want a certain size cut of veggie. I can use this chopper a whole bunch without any issues or pain!
You don't know you need this until you actually buy one. Then you need more than one!!!
March 16, 2017
I bought this because we had a slam chopper or whatever you call the thing that you slam on top and it cuts food up but that one was noisy. I wanted this to replace that as it seems much cleaner. It is. It works great and the nice thing is it is a breeze to clean. You pop out the cutter in the center wash it and bam! You are ready again. The bowl is nice too as you put a lid on it for your creation and you can store your sauce or dip or whatever it is you made. It is really easy to use. Pull the handle four times and you could slice up anything I think. It works great. Great price. A must have for any kitchen!!!
LOVE it! Great capacity!
April 19, 2011
We had a chef'n herb mincer which was similar to this product, but a lot smaller. My hubby used it to chop greens for our tortoises and it made the chore a lot easier. He was pretty upset when the herb mincer broke so I went on Amazon to find a surprise replacement. The only thing I found that was close was the VeggiChop. I am so glad that I ordered it! Not only does it hold a lot more of the greens than the herb mincer, but it also chops or minces onions, garlic and just about anything else in seconds! We have even used it to chop tomatoes without turning them into a pulpy mess. I can fit a whole large onion (quartered) in this thing and there are no more watery eyes to deal with! I was curious as to the capacity of the bowl because it oddly has no indication of that in the product description that I saw. I was able to fit 3 cups of liquid in the bowl, so that at least gives some idea of its size.. The plastic circle that is used as the handle to pull the string is very large and easy to grasp. We really love this chopper so much that the only problem we've had with it has been sharing it with each other :)

Let me tell you, I love this thing! I make pico de gallo and my family has to have the tomatoes and onions cut super small...ain't nobody got time for that!!!! But this little guy dices the tomatos and onions to perfection and makes the process soooooooooo quick and easy!!! Oh and let me add that I made 10a# of potato salad and it cut my time in less than half of what it normally takes to dice up the potatos!!! The price can't be beat! Buy it without hesitation, you won't be sorry...I purchased this product it was not free...
love it
September 12, 2016
this is actually my second purchase of this item, I chopped my way through three bushels of tomatoes and other veggies this canning season. this is my third season using this chopper and while it is in perfect condition, I decided that I wanted a back-up on hand. what is so super about this unit is the ease of cleaning, so much easier than any other unit I tried. if you do large quantities of salsa this a great time saver
Vegetable's Chef Chopper
May 7, 2016
I love the Vegetable's Chef chopper, especially the ease of operating it. My last chopper was difficult and I usually had to get my husband to push it down and it broke. Having 3 blades to choose from is a plus! Not only do you get this great chopper, you also get an e-book with 50 recipes and a vegetable peeler. Although the recipes are European based, you can request (as I did) the Imperial version which is the American version as far as the measurements go. I'm planning to do one of the recipes soon.
For small needs or small kitchens. This is a great chopper.
October 20, 2015
My biggest worry about ordering this item was that it would end up being made of cheap flimsy plastic and would break immediately when I use it. I was gratefully surprised that this was not the case. The plastic is thick and sturdy, the blade squares fit snugly into the unit and the top lid is very sturdy with the soft rounded plastic edge to keep your hands from being hurt during use. This is a quick sensible way of chopping ingredients with out having to drag out a food processor and deal with the pain in the rear of cleaning. This unit is dishwasher safe and comes with a cleaning pick to help clean the squares used to press the ingredients down into the blades. The peeler is a great addition and since we recently moved, have of my kitchen gadgets have gotten lost so this was great timing. I really like the fact that your food is chopped and dropped into the container and doesn't drop onto the counter for it to grow legs and leap off of the counter onto the floor. There are three blades for different shapes which covers pretty much any recipe you may have. As long as you chop the veggie into small enough chunks first, you should not have a problem using this. Good product for a great price.
Great tool to add to your kitchen collection

I received the Vegetable's Chef through a promotion in return for an Honest review. The packing was good with no scratches or shuffling around at all. I got it out and washed it up right away. I first used the larger square chopping blade to make small french fries from red potatoes that I needed to use up . I love how easy it was to put the potato on and just push the top down, it did not take a lot of force, and my six year old was able to do it as well. I can never cut uniform thickness so this is perfect for me. I then used it to slice some carrots with the thinner blade attachment to roast with my potatoes, and again it went right through them with no problem at all. Clean up was very simple and it is perfect that it comes with a comb like attachment to clean out the smaller parts. It seems to be very well made and I would recommend this product to anyone especially if like me, you are impatient and hate spending lots of time hand dicing or chopping vegetables for meals.

Decent but not perfect
April 24, 2017
This chops through carrots and onions very easily and quickly. However the cuts aren't all even or uniform. So the result is a partially minced, partially chopped heap of veggies. The carrot juice stained the plastic quite easily too. Otherwise, the product is good.

works well in making baby food as I require finely chopped vegetables for my 12 month old.
cut my finger washing it after a months use, so the integrity of the blade is durable.
does take a bit of an effort mastering the pull action of the motor string, but all in all does the job well.
better than banging away with one of those chop down contraptions
Where has this been my whole life?
February 23, 2016
I don't know why I waited so long to get this! I wanted a simple chopper that would help me get past the crying when I chopped onions. I didn't really want something I had to plug in and found this. In less than 30 seconds I've got an incredible chop, mince, or dice!! So thrilled. My mother and husband were laughing at how exited i was the first time I used it. I appreciate the lid that came with it, and love that it is easy to clean. My only minor annoyance is that I always have to pull the ring out when I want to lock/unlock the top. When the ring is in place it's very hard for me to open. Maybe if they raised that center part would it be easier. I get no traction unless I pull that ring part out of its place first. The other thing is please be careful with the cord - it's not easy to clean since its wrapped inside. Finally, sometimes when I'm pulling the cord it gets stuck so I don't get a full pull cycle. I have to pull a few times to get it right. Think of when you're pulling your seatbelt in a car and it doesn't snap back in place after you unhook yourself. It's minor but just something I wish didn't happen all the time - not sure if others experienced that. Regardless I can't sing its praises enough and will plan to buy this as a gift for friends that like to cook.
Larger capacity than some
December 28, 2015
It seems to work... I've always used a different style of chopper in the past, like the Zyliss one where you push down to operate it, so this handle-pull type is new to me. I don't think it chops quite as small and evenly as my old one, but on the other hand it is much easier to clean. I have destroyed several old ones because the blades were tough to clean. These blades are also very sharp; I took a divot out of my thumb and didn't even notice until I was washing my hands (luckily, the skin was not fully penetrated, or there would have been blood everywhere). The other thing -- besides the easy clean up -- which I am enjoying is that the capacity is about twice what my old ones were. I was able to easily chop an entire bell pepper all at once (after cutting it into chunks), which I could not do with the others.
Works great, clean-up is a chore
May 1, 2015
This thing works great - chops nuts, shreds carrots, apples, onion, no problem. A couple pulls gives you big pieces, 6-8 pulls (or more) and you have finely chopped whatever. Quality seems pretty good, though I'm worried that the blades have small nicks in the edges after about a dozen uses. Might be able to resharpen with a small file.

The only thing I hate - well, dislike - is how carefully you need to clean this gizmo. The blades lift out and can be put in soapy water, but you need to VERY CAREFULLY wipe them with a rag to get them clean. A dishwasher would handle this, but we don't have one. And then there's the lid with the pull mechanism. Cannot be put in water, and "wipe with a damp rag" isn't as easy as the instructions make it sound when the thing is covered with shredded veggies. So clean-up is kind of a chore, though realistically still only a couple of minutes.

All in all, it's a very workable substitute for a food processor when it comes to chopping & shredding, and much quicker and easier than a traditional grater. Sure wish you could wash the lid/pull mechanism, though.

Great chopper
September 15, 2017
I purchased this chopper by a friend's recommendation. I have to admit, it makes a chore like chopping a lot more enjoyable. I use it mostly for when I find sales on things like peppers and onions and want to freeze them up in a baggie, to have them handy. Otherwise, I wouldn't use it for just one veggie. Good product.
Good but not great.
June 15, 2016
A little weird to clean but I like it. It's pretty awesome at making salads. I would not recommend it for herbs. They get stuck in the white top part. It recommends using soft foods for specific blades so as long as you follow those instructions that should be fine.
Works great!
May 31, 2016
Excellent buy, and I am not being paid for my review. I have had this item for over a year now and it works well. Saves me plenty of time chopping and dicing green peppers, onions, tomatoes and more for salads, omlettes and fresh salsa. It dies take some time to clean, especially after chopping tomatoes, but for the price, you can't beat it.
loved it
October 10, 2015
Absolutely love this chopper. I have never used any chopper in my life but after much hearing about these things making life easier I decided on to buy one. Two of my friends have this same chopper so I also went for this. I used it for the time for bell pepper and tomato and it worked magically. But I am not sure how long would it last seeing the way everytime I have to push it down and apply force. Well, lets see, for now its working...

This thing is awesome! I'd give it five stars if I hadn't already broke it. Unfortunately the hinges were a little more fragile than I had estimated. The interchangeable chopping grates are each perfectly sized. It's also easy to clean - especially with the grate cleaner that is included. Simply run it through a few times. The plastic bottom is very easy to wash out, and the plastic itself is good quality (has not become scratched/cloudy). I've put everything imaginable through this thing - it makes dicing and chopping (especially in volume) effortless.

Okay for Very Small Amounts
May 22, 2017
I was excited to use this chopper but it's a bit small and the way the blades are placed in the middle make it super difficult to cut everything you put in there, even if you only fill it to the top blade. This is great for making guac or any other concoction that you need to have finely diced or puréed, but if you want it to cut up vegetables into pieces, the job will be really uneven. It's also a bit messier than expected.
better check the hole on top if blade! yuck
March 25, 2017
ok so i have used this several times since owning it… I was very impressed with how it chops… It is super easy to make tuna salad, guacamole and salsa… But be warned… There is a design flaw ... The blade set up is removable and fairly easy to wash however it is easy to not notice that there is a hole on the top of the set up where the screw goes in… Food gets lodged in there and rots… It is impossible to clean out without sticking a toothpick in to dig out the food because no brush could get in there it's so small… We had pieces of tuna that were lodged in there and when I opened the lid it reeked… I will definitely be looking for another chopper since it is so tedious to clean !
Not for me, but well made!
December 3, 2015
It was ok. I quartered an onion and put it in the chopper. If your issue is teary eyes, then this product could be beneficial. But I found it to take longer using this than if I just used my knife and it was hard to get it going initially. The materials used to make this is very high quality. The plastic is thick and the lid is secure. The blades are sharp and hard to clean bc of their proximity to each other. I actually cut myself pretty badly try to wash it by hand. I had bought this with the intent of taking this with me when we went out so I could dice up table food for my baby son (the baby targeted food mashers weren't doing too well) but the item is bulkier than I thought (3 cups seemed smaller in my imagination) and the blades are too dangerous. Overall a bad idea on my part.

September 20, 2015
Well.. it does what it promises to do. But if you are expecting shape - then this is not for you. It does not chop evenly and the shape - well almost always in for surprise. I like my vegetables perfectly cut - well defined shape and size and this does not do that.
I bought a $19 onion chopper
August 29, 2015
Works, but not the miracle product everyone says it is. Great for cutting onions, okay for cutting celery (took awhile), gave up with carrots.

Worked fantastic for onions, especially since it's coved and won't burn your eyes.

With things like carrots and potatoes, I noticed that it just got stuck in the blade and spun it around. After what I would call a good arm work out, I was left with barely touched baby carrots covered in mush. Like one had gotten completely pureed and the rest were left alone entirely. Weird. Not worth the effort.

I like that it's non electric, because my crappy apartment kitchen only has one outlet and it's in the least convenient place, so I can use this where I need it without much trouble.

Would probably work well with softer veggies, like avocado or peppers.

Hard to put too much in the dicer. I can only put a little piece of onion or carrot to get it to work. But it does cut nicely when you do that.

the main compartment is sturdy, well designed and good for storage..but the blades could have been more sharper and stronger..peeler kinda feels flimsy ...did not like it.. otherwise it is a good ,handy tool for those who cooks on daily basis .
Disappointed!

My old chopper was perfectly fine except it didn't have the slicer option. So I gave it to my Mom and ordered this one. The first time I used the slicer it bent and now is no good. I feel very disappointed.

January 19, 2016
I got this as a gift for a family friend as we have a similar one, but the box shows that there should be three separate rather than 2. They gave 2 of the same kind rather than 3 different sizes. Not sure if anyone else had the same issue. According to the picture as well there are 3 different blades.

Not Nearly As Good As The Zyliss Chopper
July 21, 2017
This chopper competes directly with the Zyliss food chopper. It doesn't chop nearly as well as the Zyliss. It requires more pulls for not as uniform a chop. The interlocking lid is a nuisance and is not necessary. The ratchet mechanism also skipped from day one and sounds not long for this world. Spend more and get the Zyliss.
An unhappy chopper user.
July 8, 2017
I bought this chopper in case the one by Klevachop stopped working ( I used the other chopper 1-2 a day) After not being able to most vegetables for years - I was the happiest person alive. Well I just had to chop up some croutons and my salad was ready for the day. I got out a smaller chopper that I also ordered in as a back-up. That didn't work either, the pull came out once all the way and died. So the Chef'n and VeggieChop in the picture at the side. It couldn't chop the veggies up at all plus the string pull worked for a few times then went limp, in addition NOT BEING CHOPPED at all. I followed all recomendations. Is their any way that you can find a Kelvachop.. I choke on large pieces of food and I will be one of your constant customer. JoAnn Ellsworth
Awesome! - Update after some months of using: not working anymore!
January 23, 2017
very good - easy - no onion smelling hands, yay!! I am very fast at cutting onions. But the smell on your hands is not so nice....My fiancée need an eternity cutting onions. As I want him to cook one or the other day, I thought, that would help. And it does a lot :0 I love, that you can do whatever you want - hummus, salsa, and then store it also overnight in the fridge. I wished they had more colors though!

Update after using it for some months: It is not working anymore :-( would not buy it again if it only lasts a few months.
Worked well but..!!
December 8, 2016
It works very well for chopping vegetables and really a time saver but Unfortunately the cord stopped retracting, I took it apart and the spring popped out I tried to fix it but I couldn't. I hardly used this product,at the end only a plain container is useful!! very disappointed with this product.
Disappointed
June 11, 2016
I recently purchased this food chopper as a replacement for another one that had worn out. This one is larger, and, after reading the reviews, I thought it would be perfect. Boy, was I wrong. While it is true that the chopper has very good capacity, and seems quite sturdy, it simply doesn't do the job. After fifteen or twenty pulls, the pieces are still quite large, and I've never been able to achieve the size I want. My guess is that the blades are not sharp enough. I am aware that most users love this chopper, but it just doesn't work for me.

Missing Free Book and Breaks Easily
April 2, 2016
Bought a bunch of these as Christmas gifts...there was no free book included with any of them. Also, you still have to chop your veges up before using, or it will break like mine did. If you don't mind chopping first, it makes nice uniform pieces. It would be a fantastic product if it was made out of stainless steel and didn't break.
I'd rather use a knife.
January 24, 2016
I've had this product a week and don't like it. Using a knife is more efficient. By the time I fight the product enough to get the food sliced, I could have been done with a knife. You have to be selective which foods will pass through, and many don't.

September 29, 2015
The product doesn't cleanly cut veggies. Onions, peppers, tomatoes all leave mess behind, which is pretty hard to clean out of the gridwork on top that pushes your veggies through the cutting pieces. Also, the slicer mangles eggs. I still have to use a knife if I want cubes cut with the larger grid - the slicer is way too thin to make proportioned cubes. Boo, I"m not happy!

July 22, 2015
While the idea of this chopper is awesome, making short work of pico de gallo and other salsas, the quality of this particular item is TERRIBLE. I have owned it for a little over two months. I have used it approximately 4-5 times. Already the logo has worn off and one of the pieces is bent, so that it has become cumbersome to use. The little comb they give to help clean it is flimsy and feels like the teeth will break off at any moment. I love this tool, but I would NOT recommend this maker. Buy a chopper but do yourself a favor and DON'T buy this one!

June 30, 2017
It is more work to use this and clean up afterwards than to chop the veggies on a cutting board. Also, it is way to small, I have to chop the bell peppers in pieces in order to fit them inside and once that is done it chops them too finely. I only used it once and probably wont use it again.

Cracked. Check product.
August 30, 2015
I had this chopper in the box until about a week ago and went to make salsa. As I am making salsa I notice that it is leaking from the bottom of the container. There is a large crack at the bottom, which makes the chopper not worth keeping or using. I am disappointed with this product and wish to return, however due to it being in the box since I bought it I am no longer able to return. Be sure to check the product when you receive it.
Expensive toy that broke after one use. Don't waste your hard-earned cash on this thing.
March 29, 2015
The single most over-priced piece of junk I have ever bought on Amazon. It worked exactly ONCE. Second little batch of onion, and the top half of the lid broke off, leaving the bottom half of the lid permanently attached. Just threw it out (and had to sacrifice the onion, too.)

Put your $20 toward a good food processor, or a decent knife & cutting board. This thing is a joke.

would have been a great product if the blades were stronger
August 22, 2017
Returned it! Slicing blade bent on the first use. Didn't realize until later that the bent blade was cutting into the white plastic that pushes the food through the blades and causing little pieces of plastic to break off into my food. Should have thought about it while I was cutting the potatoes but hindsight... would have been a great product if the blades were stronger.
DO NOT BUY
July 21, 2016
-DO NOT BUY- This item has a great idea, but it simply does not work. The 1/4" cutting blade broke on the second use.. on soft-boiled vegetables (carrots, garlic scapes). The cleaning tool broke on its second use. The first use was okay, with fresh vegetables, except it takes so long to fully clean out the unit that it's actually quicker to cut by hand.
Broke first time used! Pass on this one...
April 21, 2016
Don't waste your money. Broke the first time I used it chopping red peppers. Not even a hard vegetable! The metal cutting band pushed right out. Also, didn't like the blade inserts. I've had other brands (which lasted years not one day) and definitely prefer the one piece blade trays instead of this one that has one tray that you place three different blade inserts on. They didn't fit well, which is probably why it broke since the blades were most likely off a bit and weren't lined up correctly. This one is going back. What a disappointment.
Poor quality
September 1, 2015
The first half onion I placed into the press, it cracked the actual bottom container. This made cutting onions more of a hassle and I ended up just chopping them myself with the knife. I gave it another try the next time, even broken, because I just couldn't get myself to accept the fact I had wasted my money and wanted to prove to myself that it actually had some use, unfortunately the fact that it cracked doesn't allow you to firmly press down and grip onto the onion in between in order for it to be chopped. I have just come to the conclusion that this item is poorly made and has no use for it in my kitchen
