PNY SD cards are trustworthy choices, and they cost much less!
May 23, 2015
I originally purchased this 256 GB SCXC card, for my new Nikon L830 camera, but found that the camera does not recognize a 256, only going as high as 128. So, I figured I could instead use it for my Linux desktop computer as a huge backup storage device. Well, the computer saw the card, but was unable to mount it due to the new SDXC formatting. Bummed, I was all set to return this 256 card, but decided first to check the Linux OS repository for software solutions. Sure enough, there was a software solution that allows Linux systems to read SDXC cards, so I installed it immediately, and was pleased to learn that this 256 GB card functions fully! Now I have a mega sized backup card! So for my Nikon camera, I purchased the PNY 128 GB SDXC card, which works perfectly in the L830 camera. The new high-performance SDXC cards will not work in devices that only read SDHC cards, as I have come to learn today. By the way, if you run the Windows OS, there is also software to read SDXC cards available if your computer does not already do so.

One final note: I have heard it said that sticking to the big-name players like SanDisk and Lexar is the best advice for SD cards. I have been using PNY cards (based out of New Jersey) for years in my camera and computers, and have never had an error or issue of any kind. I currently have 5 PNY SD cards (3 SDHC and 2 SDXC), and they all operate flawlessly. I originally bought into the PNY line to save money, because they do not cost as much as SanDisk or Lexar, but having used them without issue for years now, I buy PNY as a first choice, with no reservations.
Performs as advertised! (63.6 MB/s write, 87.9 MB/s read)
February 18, 2015
Using the built-in card reader in my Late 2013 MacBook Pro I was able to achieve:
Write: 63.6 MB/s
Read: 87.9 MB/s

Numbers were obtained using Black Magic Disk Speed Test with 5GB test files.

The card was factory formatted as ExFAT (normal for SDXC) and was not reformatted prior to testing.
256GB SDXC - PNY Elite Performance - tested with H2testw v1.4
November 7, 2014
Tip: Always format before first use! Do not use the quick format. Use a real formatting at first time. The reason is that H2testw.exe found a defect area of 64 Kbytes. This error was fixed by formatting.

Nevertheless I not remove a point, because the problem has been fixed and the price and performance is very good. Currently (Nov 2014) the price is less than half of all competitors that I could find.

The H2testw v1.4 program examines the entire 256 GB. After formatting, it was started three times. Always finished without errors.

Here are the outputs of two test runs:

Warning: Only 244478 of 244479 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 50.5 MByte/s
Reading speed: 67.4 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

Achtung: Nur 244478 von 244479 MByte getestet.
Fertig, kein Fehler aufgetreten.
Sie können die Testdateien *.h2w jetzt löschen oder nach Belieben
nochmals überprüfen.
Schreibrate: 50,4 MByte/s
Leserate: 67,4 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

Then there was a nearly 24 hours reading test (endless verfiy mode). Also finished without errors.
So far, so good.

When I purchased a D7100, it came in a package deal with a 32GB card of this same model, so I figured it would be the best match. I use the 64GB in slot #1 for RAW files, with the the 32GB set to JPG storage, giving me both file formats. Since the RAW files will be larger, the setup seems best.

I have since learned of better performing cards from Sandisk, at least according to the expert reviews at The Wirecutter and plan on trying those at some point, but for now the PNY brand seems to work fine (I have used other PNY memory products without issue in the past). The Sandisk may be better for multiple shots of action scenes, given the reported small buffer capacity of the D7100, but since it is not soccer season for my boys I have not had a chance to try it out as of yet.

I would suggest checking out The Wirecutter's reviews that link back to Amazon for purchase (and support their site, which I have non affiliation with, but find very informative for gadgets and the like).

Easily handles Panasonic GH4 4K modes
April 30, 2014
This affordable sd card has been working like a champ with my GH4 recording both 100mbs 4K and 200mbs FHD files! Shot 45 minutes of test clips in the range of 3 to 10 minutes each, without a single glitch.

The GH4 never needs more that about 25 megabytes/second, and I think there's plenty of headroom left in that department. On my Win7 PC using a Transcend TS-RDF8K USB 3.0 reader I get a sustained 60 to 65 megabytes/second write speed with multi-gigabyte Photoshop and video files. Have not timed the reads, but they are at least as fast. That's typical of how DSLR's throw data at their drives, in single huge chunks all at once.

Of course, writing a bunch of small non-video files in the sub-megabyte range will slow you down to maybe 9 to 10 megabytes/second because of the operating system overhead of opening and closing lots of files, but this card is actually better in comparison to most other flash flash cards and somewhat typical of hard drives. For instance, most USB 2.0 and even USB 3.0 thumb drives can only handle 5 to 8 megatybes/second with lots of small files.

If backing up lots of small files is what you need, cards like this are overkill. But high performance flash cards like this PNY are essential for the continuous data streams found in video applications and with high performance still cameras in burst mode.

Perfect for GoPro's 4K and other devices
June 10, 2017
This item is recommended by GoPro for use with Hero, Hero3+, Hero4, & HERO+ LCD (it will also work for GoPro 4). It can store burst mode, Full HD and 4K Ultra HD video, and up to 90MB/s transfer speed. The amount of capacity you need depends on the types of files you have, how big they are, and how many there are. This 64GB will hold roughly 160 minutes of 4K video. 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) and Full HD (1920x1080) support may vary based upon the device you're using. So basically, if you have a GoPro,camera or phone that requires an SD card, then this is the product you need!

My answers to the frequently asked questions below:

Will it work with go pro hero 4 session?

Absolutely. The 90MB/s can easily transfer the data to your laptop/desktop.

Will this one work with new 3ds, like the older one sdsdqxn-032g-g46a does? thanks!

Yes! It works with most cameras that need a microSD.

Will it work with the LG smartphone!

Yes, also works for smartphones as well.

Overall the price on Amazon is a lot better than in any physical store (you can also have them price match it). It's a versatile and a great top tier product. You definitely pay for what you get!

BUYER BEWARE OF AMAZON SELLERS WITH FAKE MEMORY CARDS! ONLY BUY DIRECT FROM AMAZON!
October 12, 2016
BUYERS BEWARE! These memory cards are awesome, but there are a lot of fakes being sold on Amazon! Only buy these cards direct from Amazon! (Ships from and sold by Amazon) There are a number of sellers who are selling fake Chinese knockoffs of these cards! I purchased one from Youngseller which was fulfilled by Amazon, and upon receiving it I could automatically tell that it was a fake. DO NOT BUY FROM YOUNGSELLER.

The backside of the packaging where the product details reside looked very pixellated, almost like a bad photoshop job. Also on the backside of the packaging near the bottom right corner you see a logo that states "Includes RescuePRO Deluxe" and beneath that "See inside for details". When you open the package for a real SanDisk product, there should be stickers affixed to the inside of the package with a serial number for the software. The fake memory cards do not have anything on the inside of the packaging.

The front of the package looked convincing except for one thing...it says "microsDXC UHS-I Card" but the "s" is supposed to be capitalized as well if it's a real SanDisk product. It should read "microSDXC UHS-I Card".

Now on to the memory card itself. The fake ones look like they are very poorly printed, the text is slightly fuzzy looking, and the colors are a bit "off". The font is also a little smaller as well. The back of my fake memory card had an oval gold reflective sticker that had "SD 2016" on it. Real SanDisk memory cards don't have those cheap stickers on them. I have a photo that I posted with this review that shows the difference between a real card and a fake one. The real one I purchased from Best Buy (on the right), and it's a smaller size (32GB) but will give you a general idea. A real 64GB card will look exactly like the 32GB card with exception of the size number being different. Notice the colors are completely off and the text is much fuzzier on the fake one (left side).

Now here's the kicker; when you insert a fake SanDisk card into your computer it will show that the size is actually what's advertised. In reality, the memory card capacity is only a fraction of what it states, and they are able to hack the memory card so that it shows a false capacity on your computer. Upon using it, you notice that the fake card is much much slower and once you hit it's true capacity limit the card will become corrupted and you will lose all of your data. It's not worth the hassle so trust me on this.

To confirm that my card was fake once and for all, I used a PC program called H2testw which can be downloaded free online, just google it. This program is the industry standard application used to test for true capacity of an sd card. It does a full read and write test to ensure that the advertised capacity is truly what it can hold. Upon running H2testw to check my memory card, I discovered that my "64GB" memory card only had a true capacity of 7GB!! The speed was around 15 MB/s, the REAL SanDisk Extreme cards have a speed of up to 90 MB/s! For you computer nerds out there, I've pasted the logs below for analysis.

Do yourselves a favor and only buy memory cards that are shipped and sold directly by Amazon. I don't think I will ever trust buying any product from an "Amazon seller" again due to this experience. Amazon's customer service on the other hand was amazing and they rectified the situation immediately. And remember, DO NOT BUY FROM YOUNGSELLER!

Must have for GoPro
July 8, 2016
More expensive than some but finally a card that doesn't cause a gopro to glitch as mine would stop after eight minutes. night and day compared to the "ultra" This cost a little more but when you take video, whether by cell camera or GoPro this is the way to go.
With other cards you get seemingly unrelated issues, that, being a normal human you would blame on your device.

This has an actual listed read and write speed, guaranteed to write at a certain speed. The other cards are difficult for me to trust anymore. Many modern U3 cards are all possibly good with modern devices but gone are the days when an SD card was an SD card. Sometimes you get what you pay for, it is very true when it comes to these type of cards.
Used to upgrade 3DS XL
May 18, 2016
Used on my 3DS XL. I wanted to upgrade but use a microSDHC for when i finally upgrade to the *new* 3DS XL. It actually made loading times faster! I'm talking about the loading times for booting up the system, for starting a game, for loading up internet connections to eshop, etc. This was a great upgrade.
✔ ✔ ✔ Stores / Captures GoPro Shots 35% Faster and Transfers to Laptop 20% Faster, Compared to the Older Version..!!
September 22, 2015
✔ ✔ ✔ UHS-I SPEED CLASS 3 SUPPORTED
(Translation : Awesome for 4K Video Recording..!!)

This memory card complies with the latest UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) standards, which means that it guarantees excellent performance while recording videos into this card by ensuring minimum writing speeds for smooth recording of high-res 4K video content in your camcorders like GoPro.

To be more specific for the people who care about things of this sort - this card is UHS-I/U3, which means it belongs to SPEED CLASS 3 of the UHS-I standards. There is also a UHS-II standard, which supports faster bus speeds when used with UHS-II supported host devices. Basically, UHS-I and UHS-II differ in the bus interface or the pin layout of the card. UHS-I/UHS-II cards in-turn come in two different speed class ratings - U1 (Speed Class 1) and U3 (Speed Class 3).

This specific Sandisk micro-sd card supports Speed Class3 of the UHS-I Bus Mode. That’s basically what it means when they say UHS-I/U3.

➽ BENCHMARK TESTS

The image uploaded shows the comparison benchmark between the older Sandisk Extreme 32 GB (ASIN: B00M55BS8G), and the newer Sandisk Extreme 64 GB (the product being reviewed).

✔ ✔ ✔ TEST OUTCOME : The newer version does approximately 20% faster reads and 35% faster writes sequentially, compared to the older one

✔ ✔ ✔ In real life, this translates to the fact that shooting videos and photos directly into this micro sd card (sequential writes) in your camera, like in a GoPro, would be 35% faster than the older one. Additionally, transferring these photo / movie files into your computer (sequential reads) would now be 20% faster than the previous version of Sandisk extreme.

➽ TEST ENVIRONMENT

As you can see, the tests have been done using the latest CrystalDiskMark v5.0.2 64bit software. These tests consist of three passes, each of which in-turn comprises of 9 test runs - all of this just to make sure that the benchmark results are not just a “one-off” thing.

All tests were ran on a Quad-Core / 16 GB RAM Windows 7 HP laptop with no background programs running, using the respective OEM SD Card readers from Sandisk.

➽ EXPLANATION OF TEST TYPES

Class-10 & Name-Brand, All the Way
June 29, 2016
If you have ANYTHING that is electronic, you're gonna want a CLASS '10' memory Card.
Do not buy anything less. Make sure it has the number "10" written on it, inside a Circle.
If there's a (4) inside a circle, then it's a Class 4. You dont want that.

The number corresponds to the Speed of the Card.
If you have an HD camcorder, and a Class 4 Memory Card, then your Recordings will stop themselves.
Because the Camera is trying to write data to the card FASTER than the Card can Handle.

GET A CLASS 10 No matter what you Do.

And cince this is a Name-brand Product, you know it's gonna Last. I still have Many PNY cards from atleast 10 years ago, that I still use today.
So far so good (?)
August 29, 2014
Well, first of all, the reason that I got this card is so that I could expand the storage on my Macbook Pro without spending tons of money on an internal hard drive, or carrying around an external hard drive. I also figured it would come in useful for using in my DSLR when I want to take an absurd amount of photos.

I just received the card, and here are my impressions.

1) Great value for the price. I have been setting up my computer for the last week, and all of a sudden having an extra 128 (available after any formatting) available is just a godsend. I am currently using it to juggle around some large libraries, and I will end up using it to house my iPhoto library instead of having it on my internal hard drive.

2) Speed is....OK - When I first plugged it in, I transferred over a 20GB file I need off the internal for space reasons, and it took about 20 minutes. Not great in speed, but absolutely doable. I then realized I needed to move my iTunes library off in order to make space for iPhoto coming off my backup drive...this is a 100GB library. I dropped it onto the SD card...and it was all of a sudden VERY slow. It told me TWO DAYS estimated time, and after probably about 10 minutes, had only done like 300MB of transfer. I canceled it, and decided to transfer just 50 GB of movies over as that would be easier.

I dropped the 50 GB of movies on the card...is going steady right now and estimated to complete in about 20-25 minutes. What?! This is great it started working faster, but how can it go from 2 days on a 100GB file, to 25 minutes on a 50GB file. Makes no sense and makes me really question the consistency of this card.

3) Size - now, anyone who is familiar with an SD card and tested one before ordering this would be very familiar with how much this SD card will stick out. I didn't check before hand, because I looked at the "flush" SD card options and they were mega expensive. So I figured I would deal with it. It does stick out more than I thought, a tiny bit over a half inch, but was it worth it for the value of this thing? Absolutely. When I have more money maybe I can get nicer flush SD cards, or heck just a bigger internal drive, but this purchase was all about value for me.

Overall, I still dig the value for this guy. At literally 25% the cost of apple adding an additional 200GB internally, I got 128GB that is flexible, can be used in my camera, and can also be very useful for transferring large files between computers or for on the go. I think it's totally worth it.
Pretty Decent Bang for Your Buck
August 2, 2014
Overall, this wasn't a bad value. While I didn't get anywhere near the benchmarking speeds others did with the 32 GB version of this card, I'd definitely say the numbers were acceptable.Using a Kingston USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader FCR-HS3 via one of my USB 3.0 ports in a Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit OS, I got the following from the 1000 MB test in CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64:Sequential Read: 81.882 MB/sSequential Write: 36.929 MB/sRandom Read 512KB: 57.413 MB/sRandom Write 512KB: 13.204 MB/sRandom Read 4KB (QD=1): 5.158 MB/s [1259.2 IOPS]Random Write 4KB (QD=1): 0.495 MB/s [120.9 IOPS]Random Read 4KB (QD=32): 6.698 MB/s [1635.4 IOPS]Random Write 4KB (QD=32): 0.512 MB/s [124.9 IOPS]I also did the 50 MB and the 500 MB tests in CrystalDiskMark, but there wasn't much of a difference in overall performance from the numbers above. Before you balk at the difference between my benchmark results and the results of other benchmarks, I would suggest taking into account that we are probably using a different OS and card readers. In other words, results may vary depending on the test environment. The following I got from the H2testw v1.4 test:Writing speed: 32.1 MByte/sReading speed: 65.0 MByte/sNow, as one can probably see, these cards are made to perform well in devices that write to large sequential blocks of its memory such as DSLR cameras and HD video recorders. Myself, I will be using it in a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 18.0 MP CMOS Digital SLR with EF-S 18-55mm IS STM Lens for shooting both still shots and video. Time will tell how well it performs in real world applications and I will update this review accordingly.
Very, very good. Not the best.
July 20, 2014
Like many others, I purchased this card in hopes of finding a cheaper alternative to the SanDisk Extreme 95 MB/s cards that are so popular. This is not that card. It is a very, very good card in its own right, to be sure. It will blow most cards on the market out of the water. But my tests in a Sony A77 II are showing that it is still significantly slower overall than those SanDisk cards. One would expect as much, given the dramatic price difference between the two. All the same, sports shooters who need their buffers cleared fast will need to stick to the big money cards. They really are that much faster.

It is worth noting that although buffers don't clear as fast as I'd like, this card has proven fast enough to support all of the Panasonic GH4's record modes. 100 mbps in 1080p, 100 in 4K, 200 in 1080p - all work great. No need to lay down the money for the super expensive high end UHS-3 cards or even the 95 MB/s cards. These are extremely affordable and will probably continue to be my go-to card for the GH4.
Another SD Card That Joins the UHS-1 Ranks

This memory card is part of the new line of memory cards aimed at the serious professional, hobbyist or tech enthusiast. The card is made in Japan. Lifetime Limited Warranty in the USA.I use a Transcend USB 3.0 Super Speed Multi-Card Reader for SD/SDHC/SDXC/MS/CF Cards (TS-RDF8K) that is connected to my USB 3.0 slot for a Read/Write test. Also, testing with a IOGEAR USB 2.0 Hub and 45-in-1 Card Reader GUH287 (Black) for USB 2.0 slot Read/Write test.I used a program that writes a 500MB file 5 times and averages the resultsPNY Elite Performance 90 MB/s (32GB card)USB 3.0Read 96.75 MB/sWrite 63. As for electronic devices, if the devices are UHS-1 compatible you should be able to see the benefits. In some cases like DSLRs, the write to card is limited by the buffer or the memory slot unit. Be back in a few months, testing it to see if it can handle photography gigs with my D600.

Card Crashed at 11 Months, SanDisk Replaced; Fast Write Speeds
September 10, 2017
I had this card for about 11 months when it just stopped. Apparently corrupted. First time I have ever had a card go bad.

Luckily, SanDisk's warranty service was very easy to use and went off without a hitch. They provided a return label too. The new card took a little while to arrive, but it did with no issue.

Never did reach 90MBs in read speed. Usually 64-65MBs. Write speeds, though, average around 50-51MBs.
it returned to work fine. Suddenly one day it shows as corrupted.
April 4, 2017
Used it for my Moto X Pure as adoptable storage. It lasted for about 6 months during which sometimes it'll not recognized it, but by just taking it out and reinserting, it returned to work fine. Suddenly one day it shows as corrupted. I try to format it using my laptop through Windows with several partition manager softwares, but with no luck. Always give an error stating that it cannot be formated. Did a surface test looking for errors and it came out with a zone apparently damaged, so I guess this is it for the microsd.

Update: I found out that it has Lifetime warranty, so I filed a request for replacement via online and there customer support was very attentive through all the process. After exchanging a few emails with details of the corrupted micro sd, I sent it back to their office in Hong Kong and soon received the replacement. I'm taking that as a sign of confidence on their products. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that the original one was just an exceptional defective item. Hopefully the replacement will last enough to keep me from changing my opinion.
Good price, legit product
December 18, 2016
At first, the read/write times seemed a little slow to me and I was concerned I may have a fake on my hands. (Was it possible a seller on Amazon could pose as SanDisk and sell fake SD cards?)I downloaded a couple testing apps (A1 SD Bench and SD insight) and the results were about 15/20Mb/sec slower than the max written on the package. However, everything else seemed to be checking out - space available, card recognized as SanDisk. I went a step further and purchased a SanDisk ultra plus 32GB (the tier below the "extreme") from walmart. Ran it through the same tests on the same phone (Samsung Galaxy On5), and the results were the the same difference (15/20Mb/sec slower than the printed "up to" speed - though obviously slower than the extreme). I'll just chock it up to marketing and my mid-range phone. I'm satisfied they're legitimately SanDisk 32g extreme.
Need for Speed -- A comprehensive review of the fastest microsd cards

Fastest Sequential Read:
All tested cards were able to accomplish > 90MB/s, with the Lexar 1000x able to take advantage of UHS-II speed when using the bundled USB reader and leading the pack

Fastest Sequential Write:
Sandisk Extreme Pro, Samsung Pro+, Transcend Ultimate 633x

Fastest Random Read:
Kingston 90R/80W.

Fastest Random Write:
Samsung Pro+

Best overall:
Samsung Pro+ and Sandisk Extreme Pro

Other observations:
Performance and price are not proportional when it comes to selecting a microSD card. Some of the worst performing cards in this review also happen to be the most expensive.
Not all 633x cards are created equal. The two cards reviewed from Lexar and Transcend are both marked as 633x but vary in performance greatly.
4k video recording using action cams and drone cameras have a typical bitrate of 60mbps or 100mbps, corresponding to 7.5MB/s to 12.5MB/s. All cards in this review should theoretically be able to handle this usage easily.
Using microsd card as supplemental phone storage potentially could benefit from a faster card,

Best Looking Card (if it matters):
Sandisk Extreme Pro: Red/Gold with white print
Lexar 1000x: White/Gold with Black/White print
Samsung Pro+: White/Black with a red stripe and Black/White print
PNY Turbo: Lime Green/Black with Black/White print

82 MB/s sequential read, 48 MB/s sequential write
October 24, 2015
Would have liked to see a little bit faster sequential read speeds, as it didn't make it past 82 MB/s. Sequential write I am satisfied with, as it got 48 MB/s, which is three times faster than my SanDisk Ultra. Assuming this will have longevity, this is a good product. See my uploaded photos from Crystalmark, I ran all benchmarks for 100 MB and 500 MB file sizes.

I am using this on a Galaxy S4 with jetAudio Plus for my music collection. The thumbnails and play speeds load noticeably faster than on a Sandisk Ultra.

good card, may not be as temperature proof as claimed
April 18, 2015
This card was used for an in dash camera. It works great for recording 1080p HD video. However, this card does not withstand the heat very well. Though the manufacturer does claim that this will withstand heat up to 185 F, I still get a lot of card read errors, even if I have shades up and windows cracked open. For reference, this is in Southern California heat. The read error goes away if I blast my AC and direct it at the camera for about 10 minutes. Replacing the card with a fresh one will work immediately, leaving me to assume it is most likely the SD card.
Does not work with Black Magic Cameras.
March 10, 2015
Anyone interested in this working with your BMPC and saving about $30 not using a comparable SanDisk, heed my advice:

For the price you can't go wrong, however, and this is my fault, I tried to "cheap out" and use this on a Black Magic Pocket Camera which does not have this white listed for use with the unit, but the speeds exceed the minimum required for the camera to shoot in RAW.

Lo and Behold, the camera doesn't even recognize the card, I placed it into the slot, tried to "format" and a screen popped up saying something along the lines of "Card not Recognized" and returned to the main display showing no card is even inserted at all.

So, I'm sure its a great card for other cameras, but for one reason or another, on the BMPC it will not work, and that's what mattered to me most.
Excellent shipping /Excellent SD
December 10, 2014
Excellent and fast shipping. Great for Video on DSLR cameras Purchase December 2014
Update: Feb 13th 2015 We have a issue with the SD card writing at 90MB/s when using the XAVC S format on a Alpha A77MKII and A7S.
I've continuously thought in my head that I was doing something wrong in the setting of my ILCE cameras but it was the SD card not writing and reading correctly.

I've always use the AVCHD format when doing video recording but in the last few days a client ask me if I was able to shoot in 60fps for a project and just out I'd agree to the terms. Knowing that I'd purchase this card that should have been able to capture the data. it was causing some lagging issue when viewing the video raw files. Yes, I've check my system on my laptop and there is not issues that I'm aware of going on my computer. It took for me to try both ILCE (cameras to find this out and tested the card using both A77 MKII and A7S in 4K(XAVC S) and the results were the same. Lagging and data reading and writing. This whole time the SD had this issue but it works fine in AVCHD format on both ILCE cameras from Sony. If I had knew this first hand I would had return it for another. So the best thing to do is test the cards to see if they will work on all formats on your DSLR or ILCE mirror-less cameras before shooting
Amazons policy of replacing bad products is just great
December 5, 2014
I bought one of these and it turned out there was something wrong with it so Amazon replaced it. There are two things to say about this. 1. Amazons policy of replacing bad products is just great. No hassle, everything works perfectly ones you call them and say something is wrong. 2. when you get a new part at least I tend to think I'm doing something wrong if it does not work. I spent hours trying to get it to work before I finally gave up and returned it :-( The replacement card worked fine. I called PNY and they told me there were some cards that were not correctly formatted so I should return it. it would have better if these were never shipped!
fast read, slow write.

I could only get about 20MB/s write speed. I tried it with two different USB 3.0 card readers.

Card test for read write speeds
November 12, 2016
Tested the read write speed of this card as there are lots of fake cards for sale out there both online and in brick and mortar stores there is a good program I used to test this and other cards you can find it do a goole search for H2testw v1.4 be careful where you download it from I found the softpedia site to be a virus free download here are the results as you can seee the read and write speeds are enough for 4K

Won't work with my GoPro Hero Session
September 7, 2016
I bough this product to accompany another product I bought at the same time, a GoPro Hero Session. It was listed below as "frequently bought with this item." The memory card won't work with my GoPro. I receive two different messages when turning on, "No SD Card" and "BUSY." I know it's inserted correctly, I've tried rebooting, and I looked all over GoPro's website for new tech support ideas. Please help if you can! Thanks

This works in the knock off gopro/ action camera I rate this 3 stars due to the fact it holds a lot of photos and hours of video and the quality of them are good the seller says it works in gopros Had to order a 2nd mini sd card hopefully that one will work in my gopro
Somehow not performing as well as I was expecting on Surface 3 (very poor random write speed)
June 13, 2016
I purchased this 64 GB card to double the storage space of a 64 GB Surface 3.
I was expecting to get 90 MB/s sequential read and 40 MB/s sequential write but I only get about half that. That is not a major issue as those numbers are still within the same order of magnitude as the internal storage (see attached pictures showing the numbers for the internal storage "C:" and then the card "D:") but disappointing nonetheless.
Also the random write performance at less than 1 MB/s is less than 10 times the one from the internal storage.
Practically that means that installing large store apps on the card takes a very long time. Running store apps from the card is however acceptable.

The price is tempting but be warned.
October 24, 2015
I liked the price so I purchased a 256GB card. However it suddenly became read only after transferring about 50 GB of important files from my hard drive. This left me with a card that was difficult to return since now I couldn't erase some sensitive data that has been transferred to the card. This resulting circumstance makes me hesitant hesitant to purchase another since this problem doesn't seem to be an isolated occurrence based on other reviews I've read. I gave two stars only because PNY was cooperative in resolving my return issue.
4 Short Months of Underwhelming Usage
October 13, 2015
Pros:Relatively low price per GBFast read and writeCons:Not as advertised speedDead within 4 months of minimal useI purchase this back in February this year. I started to use this in my Sony A6000 (raw+jpeg) for about 4 months and have taken less than 1500 photos. One day, I decided to take the camera out and do a fun group photo shoot for my church group. When I turned on my camera, it would not recognize the card correctly. Thus, I popped it into my laptop (Windows 8.1) and tried to see if I can format it from there. No matter what method I used, the card was not recognized by my laptop. I've tried it with the built-in SD card reader, Sandisk USB 3.0 card reader, and Sandisk USB 2.0 card reader. None had worked. Although it was a great card while it was working, I can't even use it as a paper weight anymore. I am extremely dissatisfied with this card. I don't know if PNY will honor their warranty, but at this point, I'm not too sure if I want continuously use their product in fear of know that one day all my photos and videos will be lost without any warning. So buyer beware! You maybe the lucky one to receive a good and lasting card, but even then, I'd question their advertised speed. I was only able to get about 70% of their advertised speed! At the end, you do get what you pay for.I'm only giving it 2 starts because while it worked, it did a decent job.
Reliability is utmost and this card proved defective after 2 days.
October 4, 2015
Mine failed after 2 days. My camera keeps keeps giving me card failure notifications and won't work. It has never had a problem with any memory card before. It did work as described up to that point. For me, reliability is the top priority. Peak speed is not nearly as important. Luckily, I have not been unable to recover images but this card is being returned to Amazon and PNY is off my memory card list and I'm going back to trusty Transcend and SanDisk cards...
Not Impressed
August 8, 2015
I used 2 of these in a camera, and for some reason I couldn't get the pictures to come off the SD card. One of them was totally corrupted, the other I could get the pix to transfer (copy) however the pictures never came off the card. Yes, the lock was off, windows said no pix were there, but yet I couldn't write to the disk anymore and my camera said there were still pix on it. Then that one became corrupted, so I guess it doesn't matter now anyway. Went back to my sturdy little SanDisks - never had a problem with those.
Here's a grain of salt, now read my review.
May 30, 2015
I've used this card a couple of times. I shoot video; weddings, birthdays, that sort of thing. Both times I used it, I had glitches in my files. I don't know if my experience is typical and I am too afraid to use it in order to be able to give it a thorough enough review. I don't like the idea of playing Russian Roulette with my footage. I quite simply don't trust this card. I don't think I have enough experience with it to warrant a one star review, but I don't like it, I don't trust it, and I don't use it.My camera is a Canon 60D and I've always used SanDisk and Sony cards in it. The advertised speeds on those are like 40 MB - 45 MB.Never had an issue with any of them. I got this card because of the higher advertised speeds and it has done exactly squat to justify my purchase.
Perhaps not the best for a chromebook
January 29, 2015
I'm not sure about this one. I bought it to use in a brand new Toshiba Chromebook 2. It disappeared and reappeared in the Chromebook file manager at random and for no apparent reason. I replaced it with a smaller card with a different brand name and those problems seem to have gone away. I haven't tried it in a different device yet.

I recently bought 2 of those 64 micro SD for my action camera, the problem is one is not working properly, it can't take video at 2.7k or 4K becuase is very very slow, when I try to format the bad micro SD take like 12 seconds and a good one takes only 2 seconds, that means only 1 micro sd is useful
Not so Great for GoPro Hero 4 Black
April 16, 2016
I purchased this based on the reviews. I have a GoPro Hero 4 Black and this is the first and only card that I have used with it. First off The camera would stop recording do to Disk errors so I re-formatted and it seemed to fix it for a bit but I do get disk errors 1 out of every 4 videos and it is annoying. Playback is horrible at 1080P 30FPS. All kinds of artifacts and errors with the video. I have tried several settings and so far I have had video issues with all settings. 4K video gives me a disk error after a minute. Maybe I got a bad card, not sure. I feel like I wasted my $ on this unit. I will be trying a different brand. Not sure if these are B stock or not but the part # does not match the recommended. I cannot recommend this item. This is one of the downfalls of purchasing online. You get stuck with stuff that does not work.
28.78gb Not 32gb...
March 19, 2016
Bought this card to replace a 32gb ultra card because I thought this one was an upgrade, not the case. First the ultra was 29.7gb compered to 28.78gb on this one. Why is so much storage lost or used before I write anything to the card??? Also it is slightly faster than the ultra but not by much. No where near the 40 mb/s it advertises. The max I saw was 30 mb/s which is just 3 mb/s more than I was getting on my ultra card.

July 17, 2015
Ordered through Amazon from Nanning 1000 power in China. It took 15 days to receive this flash card in the mail. The wording on the outside packaging and internal label on the card had discrepancies. Most telling error that this was a bogus PNY 64GB memory card was that although it was printed as 64GB, the SD nomenclature was stamped as SD-HC... should be SD-XC for cards over 32GB. It gave a "CARD ERROR" message when inserted in Olympus TG-4 camera. Amazon refunded my money!!

Waste of money, nearly led to work disaster.
March 6, 2015
I bought two of this to use with my Pentax 645z camera.Straight out of the box when I inserted the card into my computer card reader I got the following message: "OS X can't repair the disk. You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can't save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can."I thought it was very odd as the card was new, so I opened the second package and tried the second new card. Same message.Well, then I thought it's very unlikely there's actually a problem with them. Finally shoot day comes up and there I am, shooting on this card. I had 5 models to shoot individually. I wasn't very confident with the reliability of the card so I immediately uploaded the photos to my laptop as soon as I was done with each on of the models. Finally after the long day and when I had finished with the fifth model, tried to upload the photos and had no success. Computer would get stuck and crash when trying to read the files. It would still allow me to preview the photos on the lcd of the camera but I couldn't shoot any new ones onto it or do anything with the existing files.Luckily I had asked the model to wait while I uploaded the images. Had to redo the shoot on a new different brand card. Now the faulty memory card has failed completely. I get a "unable to read card" error in camera and can't format or do anything else with it.While the second one still works, I'm still getting an error message every time I plug it in. I'm not risking to use it for anything important again. My ScanDisk cards on the other hand works perfectly on the same setup.Warning, don't buy this.Thanks.
I've received two of these that did not work...
November 19, 2014
Very disappointed in this product. I purchased two of these; one seemed to work fine but my camera could not detect the other. After trying the card in multiple computers, I conceded that I had just gotten a lemon. Amazon promptly sent me a replacement. Just yesterday, I pulled one of these out of my camera (wish I had marked which was the other original and which was the replacement), with the camera claiming there were (roughly) 740 photos on disk, and put the card into my computer's reader. There were no files on disk. I put the disk back in the camera, and the camera could not recognize the disk. I have been using other brands of cards in my computer and camera for quite some time without any issue, so I can only assume this product is problematic. It is possible I am the only one who has had this issue (I have not read the many reviews). Just wanted to share my experience in case others have had similar issues so that customers can be aware. I'm certainly not upset with Amazon, but these cards have let me down the the extent that I likely will not purchase PNY in the future.

Card Failure After 3 Months - "Lifetime Warranty" Does Not Mean "Lifetime" Warranty!
October 29, 2014
I do a lot of video production... It demands reliable, high quality equipment. For years I have used SANDisk products and have never had an issue. Recently I went with PNY because of the transfer speed and supposed ruggedness etc. My cards are not put through rough conditions... In fact, the cards are always in one of three places: Stored in a Pelican SD case, In the cameras, In a reader for transfers. For applications such as weddings, there simply is not an option to retake shots because of failures, which is a reason I run a backup solid state device on the cameras as well. After switching to the PNY product, I finally had a chance to restore data from the SSL device due to the failure of this SD card. The card cannot be seen or mounted from any device and that data is now lost. This brand will not be on my approved vendor list starting now. I would like the product replaced however... after all... I paid for it. An email to PNY about this issue was replied to with the quoted text below. The links only take you to the legal writings of the products. For warranty items, there is a link on those pages that directs you to PNY.Com. Not too useful. Keep in mind that PNY advertises a "lifetime" warranty for this product - What this means is that it is only good for the time in which the device is being sold. Once the product goes off the shelf, so does your warranty. The other PNY SD cards that I had purchased are still working, but I am never again going to use them for a production application. I hope this review helps someone who is considering this product."Thank you for contacting PNY Technical Support.First I need to inform you that PNY does not perform data recovery nor has the software to do so. July 13, 2017
Since I placed an order with several different items I can't seem to find out how to exchange this product for another one. The product itself as a brand is great, however this one is flawed and will not save images or video. It is brand new and was formatted once. I have 3 for my GoPro and highly recommend them. The only reason for the 1 star is to get in touch with seller (Amazon.com LLC) and find out what my options are. Sandisk has a great reputation for taking care of faulty products. I hope they can take care of mine. I will gladly change rating with a response. Thank you
Failed after less than one year of light use in my phone that is only used occasionally
February 7, 2017
Lasted less than a year of light use in my phone (phone does not have a sim card and is used only I'm my car for recording on track sessions, so less than a dozen weekends), and how I found out it had gone bad was I lost 2 sessions of on track video including my fastest laps. I use Kingston in my other cameras (Mobius and their 808 Keychain camera) so luckily I had some other footage. I think I will try a Kingston in my phone. I probably just got a bad one, but $32 down the tubes... not happy... Going to attempt a warranty claim...

Worked For A Day.
March 24, 2016
I usually don't ever have issues with Amazon; however, I bought this as a gift after researching that it does, indeed, work with the device. At first, it worked well, but then after about a day, it would no longer be read by the machine. I went to try to return it and contact Amazon Customer Service, but the return procedures state that since it's after January of 2016, it is no longer eligible for a return/refund...I didn't buy it until February, so what gives? I would be willing to reconsider my rating if someone would be able to at least assist with my claim. Thank you.
