Excellent value!

Came across this when our Sirius XM internet tabletop radio finally died after 6 years. I needed something that work work with our wifi connection, but play through our old, existing stereo speakers that we have hooked up to an stereo from the 90's. We use this at a business, where we use an ipad as our register system. Just downloaded the Sirius app on the ipad, and easily connected the ipad and this receiver via bluetooth. Hooks right up the audio jacks on the stereo system. It was literally just plug & play. Doesn't get any easier. The sound is crystal clear, and sounds so much better than the old tabletop internet radio. It even sounds better than if we were playing old CD's on the receiver through the speakers. Can't beat it for the price!
Works as expected. Great price!

I have a sound system for group exercise (Jazzercise). Many instructors use their iPhones to play their music lists. With the iPhone 7 having no headphone jack, there was a problem for some. Apple supplies an adapter that plugs into the charging port of the phone and then to the 3.5 MM auxiliary cord. However, it did not always work. This works beautifully. The only glitch is that we would like to put the phones on Airplane Mode to keep from having interruptions during class. Since you have to use Bluetooth, no can do. I would have given it 4 stars for that, but that is not really an overall function problem. Afterall, it is a Bluetooth device. For the price, this works just as expected. Sometimes I have to turn it off and on before it will connect. Otherwise, seamless streaming!

Paired with TaoTronics Wireless Bluetooth Transmitter without any problem. It takes a several seconds to initialize when power is applied. Audio tones sound when the unit is activated and again when pairing is established. Light weight. We have used it 24/7 for a couple of months with no problems. When power is applied it automatically repairs with the last source.
Easy way to inexpensively update home stereo system
June 1, 2017
Best $20 I have spent in awhile. This device paired easily and instantly to my Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone, and the audio sounds great coming through my home stereo. Now, I can stream music to my home stereo as well as iHeart Radio (girlfriend lives in an area where I cannot get Rush Limbaugh on the radio). This item is a "no brainer" with respect to inexpensively upgrading your home stereo system to Bluetooth compatability.
Works as flawlessly, I am a happy camper

AmazonBasics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio ReceiverI was a bit hesitant based on prior reviews however the price, along with the fact that I have thousands of dollars worth of "old" receivers that are outdated simply because they don't have Bluetooth capability, convinced me to take a chance. After all, Amazon has an excellent return policy - so why not? I am very glad that I took the chance!1) Apparently they have updated the new models because there is no "thump" on disconnect as described in previous reviews. On both connect as well as disconnect, there is a very pleasant multi-tone series of beeps. Not too loud and not of the frequency that makes you frown. Pleasant!2) Also, I experienced no problems whatsoever playing, pairing and switching between multiple devices. (4 in all). I paired each individual device (Apple, iPhone x 2 units and an iPad x 2 units), once the device was in the profile of each device, swapping between devices was as simple as turning off Bluetooth on the paired unit and within seconds, the multi-tone beeps are heard indicating an "un-pairing" of a device. Then go into the Bluetooth screen for the new device you want to connect to and look at the Bluetooth device list, select the Amazon Audio device, poke on "connect" and again within seconds, the multi-tone beeps confirm that it connected. As I've already mentioned, the unit works flawlessly! As a matter of fact, I am listening to the Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers album over Amazon Prime as I type this and the album sounds like it always has...very very good! I have been listening to this album and the various remasters for the last 35 years and I know the music very well. I've heard it on the radio, in concert, on vinyl, on cassette, on MSFL vinyl and just about every way the album has been released and this Bluetooth stream from Amazon Prime is perfectly acceptable and enjoyable over my old school component stereo system.Sure, Bluetooth ain't audiophile quality...sure, I could look at the playback on a spectrum anaylizer and tell the difference...sure, I could look at the signal on an oscilloscope and tell the difference...sure, it don't sound like a $200 MFSL album or the $40 MFSL compact disc but it sounds every bit as good as over the air broadcast quality from an FM radio station and that is good enough for me.It's a good little unit and the $20 price tag is perfect for what I want it to be...decent, enjoyable sound just as good as FM broadcast sounds from a power station. If I want to hear Mick Taylor's pick hit the strings, I'll break out the $200 vinyl and crank up the volume; If I just want to conveniently listen to my favorite music without playing the big vinyl disc...this'll do the trick. If a reviewer is going to be critical of a $20 device, and compare it to an audiophile quality sound...well, that is the kind of reviewer that would complain if it were raining $100 bills.Bottom line - get it if you have reasonable expectations. if you want audiophile quality, you're going to have to pony up a tad more than $20 and Bluetooth will not do the job anyway.
The King of Bluetooth Receivers
October 6, 2014
I'm musically inclined. I have great ears. I can tell when music sounds awesome and when it sounds terrible. I care about quality, and Bluetooth audio has been bothering me for a very long time.I've tried:http://www.amazon.com/HomeSpot-NFC-Enabled-Bluetooth-Receiver-System/dp/B009OBCAW2/HomeSpot, NFC-capable, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDRThis one had listenable, not great, audio quality, but there was a very noticeable, very annoying "pop" every single time it engaged and disengaged to play sound.I've tried:http://www.amazon.com/Brightech-BrightPlay-Bluetooth-Frustration-Packaging/dp/B00HZVPD72/Brightech, NFC-capable, Bluetooth 4.0This one had terrible audio quality, with lots and lots and skips and distortions. Audio played slower, lagged, then played 2-3x faster to catch up. The whole thing was a mess. There was also a terrible beep/screech sound when it disengaged after playing sound. By far the worst of the bunch.I've tried:http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Receiver-SoundDock-Speakers--Generation/dp/B009WNR13U/BMR, 30-pin, Bluetooth 3.0This one had listenable audio quality, but was a nightmare to pair, not to mention that fact that it basically just shut off after being unpaired for a few minutes. To repair, it needed to be pulled and put back in. The whole thing was a mess.I've tried:http://www.amazon.com/Aluratek-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-iPhone/dp/B00CG5EH7E/Aluratek, 30-pin, Bluetooth 3.0This one just had absolutely god-awful audio quality. It was like listening to music after it having been run through a meat grinder.I've tried:http://www.amazon.com/I-Link-Bluetooth-Receiver-Adapter-Sounddock/dp/B00L68N8AEAnd probably the other variants with the same casing, like:http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Receiver-Adapter-Sounddock-Speaker/dp/B0094G44PS/http://www.amazon.com/TekuOne-Wireless-Bluetooth-Receiver-Sounddock/dp/B0087XSV08/This one was alright, but it crushed the highs like cymbals and such to a noticeable degree. If you must get a 30-pin Bluetooth adapter, that's the best I've tried. The best I can say is that it wasn't terrible.I've tried:http://www.amazon.com/August-MR240B-Bluetooth-Receiver-Systems/dp/B00ED3JE70/August MR240B, Bluetooth 3.0 + EDRThis one had hissing, an electronic clicking noise, and was an absolute pain to connect to.---All of these problems are nonexistent in AmazonBasics' adapter. There's nothing wrong with it. Its audio quality is equivalent to auxiliary input (about as near as is possible), it doesn't pop or hiss, it doesn't act up in weird ways. It works, and it works damn well. The search is over.UPDATE: My unit has developed a slight pop when the audio "disengages". It's not terrible, certainly not bad enough to bother with, and it does nothing to change this Bluetooth receiver's supremacy, but it's there--however slight. I have an incredibly sensitive system, though; it's quite likely no one else will ever notice.

Good Choice

So pleased with this gadget! So far so good, had it a week. Radio stations in NH are the pits. Now I can stream Pandora, Amazon Music, and best of all audio books. My sister and nephew paid 3 times the price for gadgetry that I don't think provides more or works better
Best $20 I've spent in a while.
February 19, 2016
Best $20 I've spent in a while. Bought this to use with my old Philips DC185 Sound Machine with iPod Dock. I now own a Samsung S5. So rather than spend money on new BT Speakers I decided to try this. This device plugged right in and I paired my S5 with no issues. Worked right out of the box, sounds quality is great and I can control the music from across the room with my phone (volume and song selection)as with any other BT music device. My only issue is that I can't control the music (Pause, Prev and Next buttons) from the Sound Machine. But I'm ok with that if it means I don't have to get rid of the Sound Machine.
Works great in my Bose SoundDock 10
January 19, 2016
I love this thing. I have it in my Bose SoundDock 10 and have had no issues. The setup was easy and it steams great with a lot better range than I would have expected. I have it on all the time and when I hit play, it just works! As for the price, I would have paid twice as much, no question about it. It has been in use for about a month and I expect a long life just from what I have seen so far. Any questions, just let me know.
Works like a charm , highly recommended for the 30 pin dock speakers
December 15, 2015
We have a JBL 30 pin speaker for our iPhones 4. We use to dock the iPhones onto the 30 pin connector to listen to music and it will also charge the phones (slowly). The downside has always been that we had to have the phone dock to the speakers. Sometimes we miss text messages while dock. We recently upgraded to the iPhones 6 and I bought the 30 pin to lightning connector adapter. The new additional downside to this is that we had to take our covers off the iphone 6 in order to dock through the lightning connector. I was thinking about getting a new speaker with the lightning connector. However, I came across Nyrius and decided to give it a try. It took only a few minutes to setup and works like a charm. With some other Bluetooth devices, sometimes have issues connecting and reconnecting. Also, the Bluetooth gets power from the 30 pin connector, so no hassles with charging the unit separately. Have his device over a few weeks now and use it daily and no issue with connecting. It does it automatically once I am in range if the unit is power on. I do not have to fiddle with any settings to connect once setup. The next best thing, we could have it charge through the regular charger as needed while playing music. And lastly, we are able to now use the phones in our hands to play games, texting, surfing the web while listening to music! This small investment have allowed us to continue using our portable speakers and allowed for better use of the phone while listening to music.
FINALLY !! A BT receiver that stays on, no power switch, no auto off. Its always on waiting to connect.
December 14, 2015
I found it difficult to find a bt receiver that didn't have a momentary power on switch or a auto turn off feature. What good is that if its buried inside a console or cabinet? If I have to open up the cabinet to hold down a switch to turn on every time, there is no need to have a bt, just use a cable. FINALLY! Success! This receiver is perfect. Comes with a wall brick with micro usb for the home, and it has a micro usb connection for plugging into my lighter adapter for the car. As soon as the power to the unit is on, IT'S ON! No switches to deal with. Sound is very good, it connects to phone reliably, every time. Only issue is with the audio 3.5 mm cord they supply. It's not reliable. Purchase this item, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NO73IN2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00, and it will work flawlessly. Nyrius Songo Wireless Bluetooth Music Receiver Adapter for Audio Streaming iPhone, iPad, iPod, Samsung, Android, HTC, Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops to Speaker Systems with 3.5mm Auxiliary Input (BR40)
Just what I needed
August 25, 2014
So far probably one of the best ten bucks i have spent. I have a Denon receiver with an external 30 pin iPod connector. Previously I used some older iPod we had laying around for tunes. The Denon's interface is embarrassingly dot matrix and non-intuitive. This device plugged right in and I paired my new Sony Xperia Z2. Worked right away and now I can control the music from across the room with my phone (volume and song selection). Calls come in and the phone stops the music and I take on the handset. Once I hang up the music resumes on the stereo.Sound quality is actually pretty good too. A nice bonus. (I will say that you should check the other reviews and the company website for compatibility. Only analog connections work I believe.)

Good for bringing new life to an old stereo. But not great.
October 31, 2017
TLDR: Sounds good but not great. Connects easily and reliably. Comes with RCA cable and power supply. I recommend.Have had this for a few months now and use it every day. I have a 1980s vintage Pioneer stereo receiver and some newer Pioneer bookshelf speakers in my bedroom. This system was in my living room but I bought a Yamaha surround receiver with built-in Bluetooth to replace it. I was curious to see how good music from my phone would sound through my new receiver and it sounded good enough that I decided to set up my older system in my bedroom with this Amazon branded Bluetooth receiver. It does not sound nearly as good. There's a fair amount of compression artifacting so highs and lows are lacking. As you would expect, high bitrate MP3 and FLAC files sound better than Spotify. The sound quality is roughly on par with a cassette tape player. Maybe a little better. That being said, it still sounds heads and shoulders better than any dedicated Bluetooth speaker or sound bar I've heard. And it's acceptable for the bedroom although I'd never use this in the living room where company might hear it.I connected the BT receiver power supply to the switched outlet on the stereo receiver so it powers up and down when I power up and down the stereo with the remote and it works flawlessly and connects immediately and reliably.I use it for wake up, relaxing for sleep, and sex music nearly every day and it works well in that role.Unlike most of the direct from China versions you find on eBay, this one comes with the mini phono to RCA cable needed to connect it to a stereo and a power supply. So, I recommend it if you want to re-purpose an older 2 channel receiver without spending a lot of money. I only spent twenty dollars and was able to add decent quality music to my bedroom and keep this old receiver from the landfill.
Great, simple, reliable bluetooth audio receiver unit.
July 17, 2017
I purchased this unit to add Bluetooth audio capability to an existing car stereo that has an aux. input. I had a fantastic HTC device previously, but charging the battery at all times made me nervous. When that old HTC device got fried from excessive cabin/charging heat, I had to replace it. Countless BT devices are available on the market, but I read about many problems with sound quality or the speed of connecting. I wanted something that has no battery, only turns on when the stereo is playing, with decent sound quality and high reliability/simplicity in connecting. Based on positive feedback here on Amazon, I decided to try out this AmazonBasics Bluetooth receiver.First, I was a bit frustrated to find out that it runs on 5V DC. I had hoped it would run on 12V and NOT require a converter, but I did have to order a step-down converter (~$6) to run the BT receiver off the 12V in the car. Once the unit was turning on/off with the ignition, pairing with my LG G4 phone was effortless. The BT4 and A2DP also ensure that when I upgrade to new phone, there will be no issues with pairing. Every time the car starts up, I get a pleasant sound confirmation that the unit has powered up, and a sound confirmation that it has sync. with my phone. I can easily pair it with a different phone within seconds, which is GREAT when my family and I are road tripping. When the phone rings, I do have to use the phone’s speakerphone, otherwise I get feedback and the person calling can’t hear me.In all, the device is almost everything I wanted, but does everything I need, quite well. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit for home use, or special projects like my automotive installation.

This works great. Very easy to install and gets good signal from my phone. My only issue with this is that it can only pair one device. If you pair another one, the instructions say you have to re-pair the prior device before using it. I use it to listen to my podcasts while working in the garage. Doubt I'll pair another device until I get another phone.
Pretty good
April 8, 2017
I only gave it 4 stars because it cannot be used to power speakers directly. It must go through some type of amplifier. It does work very good though. I did have some difficulty getting my phone to "see" it. I did not give up and kept trying it. After about the 10th attempt my Galaxy S5 finally found it and it has worked flawlessly since.
Simple BT device with impressive range!
April 7, 2017
Simple and easy to use. I would recommend this for people who don't use too many Bluetooth devices though since once it's paired with a device, it's very difficult to not have it auto-pair unless you just unplug it. It has an incredible range. Set it up on a second floor loft through a stereo receiver and could get it to work with an iPhone connected that was downstairs over 30 feet away and with walls in between!

April 6, 2017
After only one year the receiver stopped pairing with both my I-pad and I-phone. None of the troubleshooting hints helped. The manual doesn't contain any warranty information or contact information so I am left with no options. I'm disappointed that amazon would put their name to something like this Also I have not found any way to contact Amazon directly to ask for some resolution to this problem. An update: after reading the problems encountered by "A_Long_Time_Amazonian" in the comments section I realized that if I simply removed the AmazonBasics from my bluetooth list of receivers on my I-pad and then re-pair it again it works perfectly. A bit of a hassle but all is good now.

Impressed
February 26, 2017
I'm picky when it comes to audio equipment, so I wasn't expecting much. However this thing sounds great and that's what matters. I'm sending audio via Bluetooth from my iPhone 6 to it, then from the unit to my Onkyo receiver via optical and then to Pioneer SP-BS-22LR loudspeakers. However, the range does suck, as other reviews have stated. If I even leave my 10x15 room, it drops out. So if you need more range, look elsewhere.
Love The Idea Only Works with Some Docking Stations
January 23, 2016
Like to be able to use my old docking station made for the iphone 4s with my iphone 6s. Little disappointed, it did not work with my newer and nicer docking station (ihome). It did however work with the older JENSEN docking station I have in the bathroom. There is no way to know beforehand if it will work with your station as far as I am aware.Great to be able to put on a playlist while showering yet keep my phone in the bedroom so it doesn't get exposure to heat and condensation. I always take it off the docking station after using. Otherwise, even when the sound is off ifI walk in or out of the house and my bluetooth is on it makes this loud "blooop" sound that startled me the first couple of times before I figured out what was happening. My phone stays connected as long as the nyrius device is in the docking station (even when the sound on the station is off).
A Very Good Solution for Reviving your Speakers having a 30-pin Apple Speaker Dock
December 21, 2015
I have found the Nyrius Songo Link Wireless Bluetooth Music Receiver 30-pin Apple Speaker Dock Adapter for Audio Streaming (BR30) to be a very good solution as a way of extending the life of my various speakers having a 30-pin Apple speaker dock all without having to resort to using the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter. I have connected to the device via Bluetooth using both a 1st generation iPod Touch and an iPhone 4s; confirming that this device works with the following speakers: - TEAC MC-DX50i 2.1 Channel Ultra Thin Hi-Fi System with iPod Dock - Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker Dock for iPod or iPhoneUnfortunately, I have not been able to get it to work with my Skullcandy S7PIDZ-072 Pipe Audio Dock Speakers. While I am able to connect to the Nyrius BR30 via Bluetooth, no sound comes out of the Skullcandy Pipe and I am unable to increase or decrease the volume on the pipe - indicating that while a Bluetooth connection has been established between my iPod Touch or iPhone 4s and the Nyrius BR30, the Skullcandy Pipe does not recognize any audio output coming from the Nyrius BR30.Had it been able to work with my Skullcandy Pipe I would have given it 5 out of 5 stars; however, because it won't work with all 30-pin Apple speaker dock devices (see other reviewers comments) I can only rate this product 4 out of 5 stars.
Smaller than pictures show, works great!!
July 22, 2015
When I ordered it I was surprised to see how small it is! It's hard to tell in the pictures but it is tiny! Works like a charm. Just power it on and search for bluetooth devices and pair. I've used it a few times now with computer speakers and I will use it in the future for other random times where bluetooth is not available. Overall great audio transfer. I used this with an iphone 6plus to watch netflix and the audio was perfectly in sync as well.I can honestly say if you are looking for a bluetooth solution, look no further. Works great!Picture is next to an xbox one controller for size reference
It does exactly what I wanted
January 1, 2014
I have a pretty big house (3000 sq feet). I wanted a way to work in one room and then move to another room without having to hook up my mp3 player each time. The Nyrius was a simple set up: pair the receiver with my iphone then plug into my stereo. I have a Sony media player (non-bluetooth) in the kitchen. Three rooms away is the Nyrius. When I'm in the living room, all I have to do is power on the Nyrius and I get music through my stereo. There is a caveat: As stated by a few, you'll want a decent line of sight. As stated, mine is three rooms away (25-30 feet). My iPhone is on my far kitchen counter at an angle pointed mostly at a door. The Nyrius is two rooms away just around the corner in the living room. There aren't any other electronics in the direct line of sight but there are computers off to the side (I don't know if that makes a difference, but I know it can with other bluetooth items). It plays just fine. If I move the system so it's not *just* around the corner (say, more towards the middle of the living room wall so there are two/three full walls in between), the sound gets choppy. That's why I'm giving it only four stars.Another thing to remember is that you'll want to turn it off when done listening to music. If you have it plugged into your iPhone as I do, the Nyrius will pick up all of your calls and blast them through the house! This does, though, show that it works well through ceilings/floors, as I was upstairs and could hear my call being broadcast below into the living room. For the price, it's a great little system. It's small. It's easy to set up. It works over a decent area as long as there aren't too many walls in its way.
Nyrius Songo - a great little device
December 7, 2013
Nyrius SongoThis is a handy little unit that gives you the opportunity to use that stereo unit you’ve neglected because you’ve been listening to your music on your portable device. You know that you do – and either through less-than optimal speakers or earbuds. And every time you see that sleek black electronic unit on your shelf/stand you sigh and wished that you actually still used it. This Nyrius Songo takes away that guilt by becoming a receiving unit from your mobile device and hooking into the stereo a few different ways: through the line-in jack, the game or input RCA jacks, or the TOS link if you have that feature. All three methods seem to deliver the same quality of sound, so really the connection choice is really once of location preference for the wiring. And therein lies really my only negative about this unit and yes, I know it is nitpicky, but this is my review so get over it; because of the light-weight of the Nyrius Songo, the connection cables have too much influence about the staying in position. I think once you find your idea spot (so the you get a good resulting Bluetooth® connection) you need to anchor this with something like double-stick tape, a bracket or something to keep it from being pulled by the outbound connection cable.I forgot to mention the process of pairing with the mobile device and selecting it. I forgot because it was so very easy. No pin numbers to enter, no downloading an application, no hassle. Just Bluetooth® setup, select and go. The mobile devices I tried all gave me the option to use the internal speakers (or headphones) or the Bluetooth® and I could easily switch back and forth between those outputs. An additional wish, and yes, again this is likely just me; I would like to have a means to turn it off when not in use. I will likely accomplish that via running the power cord over to a power strip which I can then control things. Here’s a bonus use as well – if you have the correct power facility in your vehicle and an auxiliary-in 3.5mm jack, you can use it with your car if you can’t currently do that wireless playing now. That was particularly handy when a passenger wanted to play some music from a tablet which did not have a headphone jack to run a cable direct from it to the aux-in jack. I didn’t say it was a great tablet, but it was some good music they were sharing. I would think it would be handy if there were rear-seat passengers wanting to do a similar share. So, I think it is a great little unit. I’m glad I have it. I would certainly think about getting one as a gift for someone that I thought would use it and would certainly recommend anyone reading this and on-the-fence to get it and remove that guilt for ignoring their stereo & those great speakers it has.And finally, I do NOT work for the company; I am simply a person that has music on all the time – car going to work, all day at my desk, in the car coming home, at home even if the TV is on. This until allows me to have that music a little louder and able to hear in more of the house than just right there with the mobile device.

Works Great but not for us...
October 18, 2017
Does the job and connects instantly except it's better used with a system that has an on/off button since this item doesn't. I bought it to convert my Klipsch 2.1 ProMedia speakers to Bluetooth since they have an 1/8" input on the side of the controller and would allow me to use my iPhone Amazon Music account through the speakers in my kitchen without having to connect the built in line-in plug into the iPhone as I've done for years. The Klipsch have an on/off switch except it's on the sub-woofer which I have stashed under the bench in our breakfast nook so I just leave it on all the time. Because the Bluetooth receiver doesn't have an on/off switch, every time I get within range, the iPhone connects and I hear the little tone indicating a successful connection. Then, all the sounds that the phone makes come out of the speakers including my calls. I'm currently shopping for a different Bluetooth unit that has an on/off switch.
Works ok, but....
June 27, 2017
I used this device to connect an Echo Dot to my stereo. The device worked perfectly fine, for this purpose, but the only way I could disconnect the device from the Dot, was to unplug the power connector. Although the Dot disconnected (using voice commands) it immediately reconnected. After several attempts, the power disconnect was the only option, as the device does not have an on/off switch.
Works well, has a fair range of about 15 feet, but no on/off switch.
April 27, 2017
The range and function are quite good, BUT there is no on/off switch so you cannot just set it discretely in an entertainment center and forget it, it will always be on, trying to grab your Bluetooth signal, even if you are pairing to another device.
Works well, sounds great but limited range
April 22, 2017
This unit was very easy to connect and the sound quality, when coupled with a good audio cable, is quite good, with good bass response. However, the bluetooth range was surprisingly limited, certainly not the advertised 30 ft. I'd say more like 15, which is somewhat disappointing. I may end up returning it for that reason.
LOVE IT AND HATE IT! NOT GREAT FOR DOT!

LOVE IT AND HATE IT! NOT GREAT FOR DOT!REVIEW: AMAZONBASICS BLUETOOTH 4.0 AUDIO RECEIVERUSE 1 LOVE: BLUETOOTH RECEIVER FOR MY TURNTABLE IN A DIFFERENT ROOMThe main feature I love and that is working well in this case is what is being called “AGGRESSIVE PAIRING” requests from this device.I have a new turntable that I purchased but I don’t have any room to put it currently where my main receiver is located. However, I still want to play albums and have the audio come out my main speakers. (Obviously I am not a nut about audio quality it is just fine). I just want to play some old albums. All of the Bluetooth transmitters I have tried have a timeout feature after a few minutes of inactivity where I have to press a button on the transmitter to initiate connection again to the Bluetooth receiver. Thanks in part to the aggressive paring characteristics of this device, it is overriding the timeout features and keeping the Bluetooth connections live 24/7 so I don’t have to climb behind the couch to press the button on the transmitter. (I had to move the transmitter as close as possible to the receiver in the other room with a long audio cable) Now I just tell Alexa to “Turn on the Turntable” (which powers on the stereo and sets the input via my Harmony remote), and I press play on my turntable and I’m off and running.USE 2 HATE: BLUETOOTH RECEIVER FOR MY AMAZON DOT V2The main feature causing problems as other reviews will note is what is being called “AGGRESSIVE PAIRING” request from this device. The same feature I love in USE 1, is causing me problems in USE 2. I have an Amazon Dot connected to this Bluetooth receiver so that I can stream music to the Stereo with a command like “Turn on the Stereo” and “Play Playlist Background”. But, because the Bluetooth receiver is always on, it is permanently connected to the Dot. Supposedly you can tell Alexa/Dot “Disconnect” which is supposed to drop the connection until asked to “Connect” to the Bluetooth receiver, which is does for about 2 seconds then it immediately connects again. This means that if the stereo is off (99% of the time) then you can’t hear the dot respond because it is streaming all audio to the Bluetooth receiver even if the stereo itself is turned off. I don’t have this problem with my 2 other Dot’s and other speakers (Bose). One suggested work around was to plug the power supply of this unit into the Aux Power on the Receiver, but It would still cause problems if I was listening to a movie or music from another source then the Dot could not be heard. My final work around was not cheap, but I was tired of experiments and crawling under the desk to get to my receiver and returning things to Amazon. I had some TP-LINK internet connected plugs that I was using previously for my Christmas trees. I added one to a group in Alexa, so that when I tell the Dot / Alexa to “Turn on the Stereo” it also turns on the TP Link outlet, which also powers on the Bluetooth receiver, which then automatically connects to the Dot. (The Stereo is turned on separately and the proper input is selected through my Harmony Remote also part of that same group in Alexa). It might be a little inelegant kludge of a solution, but it works. So in the end this costs me about $20 for the AmazonBasics Bluetooth Receiver and about $30 for the TP Link remote outlet. Yes, I probably could have returned this and experimented with a few more devices, but I just wanted to be done with this project and move on with my life.I “Chatted” Alexa Tech Support and they had no awareness of this problem. Their advice “did you try turning it off then back on again”. (They have watched too many episodes of the IT Crowd I guess)
good and bad features.

Does the job, and is easy to pair with. The only thing I don't like is that it automatically connects, so if more than one person pair to it, you have to have them turn off their Bluetooth if you want to use it. and if it's hooked up to a speaker full time, it will constantly "beep" trying to find a device to pair with. (I have mine on an "ON/OFF" switch) Mine is hooked up to a ceiling speaker in my bathroom, so if you come home from work and forget you're paired to it, all your phone notifications and sounds play through it. Snap chat or any video's for instance, I'll be in the living room, and hear the video's playing in my bathroom because I forgot to turn off my Bluetooth when done using it....haha. Although it's kind of fun when we have guest are over, and when they use the bathroom I can play things on my phone to mess with them. But other than that rare occasion, it's kind of a pain to constantly turn your Bluetooth on and off, it trumps out other devices so you can't connect to them too. so if you have Bluetooth in your car, and this thing is withing 50' of that, you have to wait until you get away from home before your car will connect. But if your using it for one thing, it's does the job for the money!

auto-pairing cannot be disabled
April 18, 2017
I am using this with the amazon echo to stream music to the a/v receiver. It was easy to pair. However, as soon as I told echo to unpair the bluetooth, it will automatically connect again in 30 seconds. I asked the company how to turn off the auto pairing and I got the reply that it cannot be disabled. So I now have to unplug the power if I want the echo to use it's own speakers. In this respect I am very disappointed with the product. However if you want to be connected to the bluetooth all the time, this might be a good product for you.
Works well, one issue.
March 13, 2017
I bought this in hopes of using it with my portable Logitech ipod speakers. The unit works, but needs a constant power supply to do so. My Logitech iPod speakers are rechargeable, and it would not work unless they were plugged in. Gave it to my father-in-law to use with his old Bose unit. Works fine.
Works okay with minor issues. Very basic
August 31, 2016
Build quality seems generic and on the cheaper side. Volume was a bit on the low side, and music only limits to higher frequencies. Lack any mid bass and almost no bass at all, or very faint in the background. Turning the volume up would only pierce your eardrums with hgh frequencies.Good voice quality, but it can't be used for phone or video chatting, so the point is basically useless.
Help
July 18, 2016
Hello seller,I bought one product from you and I'd like to let you know that I'm having some troubles like the following description :1. I already paired My home theater (Sony air SA-15ti) with my iPhone/iPad through the nyrius (Bluetooth 30 pin), successfully.2. When I try to play mi music through the nyrius from iPhone 6/iPads, I am not able to leasing that music in any of the Sony AIR SA15R speakers.3. I have tried everything and still I am not able to use my Sony home theater.4. When nyrius is working you can see in the Sony screen the word "iPod", it means is ready to play music. That's why I am not sure what to do.Please, help me in solving this issue. Thanks
It's fine if you don't need more than 28 feet of range, or to mount it on a wall.
June 10, 2016
I've ordered a few of the more popular bluetooth receivers in search of the best one. Unfortunately, this isn't it. But it's not horrible. It's easy enough to connect to. No buttons to press or anything, which I like. And the sound quality is pretty much what you would expect from any bluetooth device. The down sides were the lack of slots on the bottom for wall mounting (which I need), and the range (which everyone needs. Isn't that the point?) Again, it wasn't horrible, but less than some others I've used. I was only able to get about 28 feet, and that was with perfect line of sight (No walls or other obstructions)Can't comment on NFC, it just seems like more trouble to me than just going through your devices bluetooth screen. Can't comment on Apt-X either since I still haven't found any way to confirm whether it's being used or not. Such a strange lack of info for such a seemingly ubiquitous technology. It could all be a hoax for all I can find about it. The audio did sound good, but I can't say it sounded noticeably better than any other 'good' bluetooth audio I've heard
NoT HIFI sound on a larger system
July 20, 2015
This might be great for a small system but I just hooked it to my high powered receiver (Yamaha cr-2040) that is hooked to two large Fisher speakers and sound is...well, NOT HIFI. It is beyond bass-y, even when I reconfigure my equalizer on my device (iphone) and receiver it still sounds like music in box. Usually music coming from this system sounds a lot more crisp. Then I also hooked it to my small electric Bose speakers and it worked great. So I think I'm going to use it just for my smaller speakers in my room instead of my larger system, which suck because the whole point of getting it was so that I could use the phone in the kitchen and listen to loud music in the living room. All that said, the reception seems to be find on the other side of the wall (there is a wall between the kitchen and living room spaces in my house) so far.

Maybe not for the good stereo system
October 1, 2017
Didn't live up to some of the positive reviews in my opinion. Audio out is very low, and doesn't have the full clear audio I'm used to. I'm comparing first to Apple Airplay (which got flaky on my receiver, which put me on this path), next comparison is to Amazon Echo DOT. The volume level needed for good audio with Airplay is way less than this receiver, and sounds much better. The Echo DOT needs a little more volume than Airplay and doesn't sound quite as good as Airplay, but it's still much better than this BT receiver. If your looking for quality audio from a good stereo system, I suggest looking elsewhere. I'd really like to know if there is something under $100 that does a better job than the DOT, but for now I'm happy with the DOT.
Persistent Bluetooth connection is beyond annoying.
July 11, 2017
The audio quality is fine. My BIG objection is the device's obnoxious habit of connecting to Bluetooth sources even when I don't want it to do so. I have an Echo Dot that is paired with this receiver. When I'm watching TV the stereo receiver is selected to the TV as it's audio source. At those times I want to be able to use the Echo independently. I disconnect the Echo from the AmazonBasics receiver only to have the AmazonBasics receiver immediately reconnect to the Echo and the only way I can prevent it from doing so is to unplug it. So, every time I want to watch TV I have to unplug the AmazonBasics receiver and when I want to stream music on my Echo I have to plug it back in. Very frustrating.I want to be able to say, "Alexa, disconnect speaker," and have it stay disconnected until I say, "Alexa, connect speaker."
It works fine, except with the Amazon Echo
June 1, 2017
It works fine, except with the Amazon Echo. If you tell the Echo to "Disconnect Speaker", it disconnects but immediately reconnects...Grrrr!I returned it due to this incompatibility.
Not recommended - Bad Design/NO USER CONTROL
January 9, 2017
I bought this for use with my Echo Dot. I use a home theater receiver and like voice control for Spotify. It connects and works great. But it won't disconnect. If I want to use my dot without being connected to bluetooth, it auto connects and makes me use my home theater receiver. If you connect your phone with multiple bluetooth devices and this Amazon Bluetooth receiver is on, it will connect and not allow you to make any other connections unless you unplug it, since there is no on/off switch. VERY INCONVENIENT!I upgraded from the logitech which would not connect all the time. Now I have the opposite problem where it won't disconnect. HORRIBLE DESIGNI would NOT recommend this product to any friend of mine.
Its like getting married with no way of divorce :)
January 8, 2017
The device transmits bluetooth sound fine, but you just can't unpair it; you have to pull the plug from wall outlet to disconnect from your smartphone. This is a real nuisance. Whereas with a Homespot, just a push on the button disconnects the phone; however with that device you have to to the Bluetooth settings to connect to it again, just one extra step every time; not automatic like my Bose Soundlinks.Amazon really needs to FIX THIS ISSUE.
Works as advertised but it is slight a pain to get it to disconnect
December 23, 2016
Just got this item today. Works well. As other people have mentioned, though, it automatically reconnects when you try to disconnect it from a device. Some people said you need to unplug the power. However, I found that you don't need to. What you need to do is hold down the "Pair" button on the back while you disconnect it from your device. It's still too bad you have to press a physical button to get the receiver to disconnect, but the receiver works fine otherwise.Updated review -- now down from 4 stars to 2:As mentioned above, I thought I had solved the issue with the Receiver auto connecting after a device is disconnected from it. I thought holding down the Pair button and disconnecting the device solved the problem. However, after having the Receiver for a while, it doesn't always work. So I am now considering a different receiver.

Works but there is probably a better option somewhere
September 14, 2017
While it works, it is a needy little bugger and is always trying to connect to something. Kinda annoying. If I don’t unplug it, my phone will instantly connect when I walk in the door, even if I’m already playing music through Bluetooth headphones, and my Samsung tv will repeatedly show a pop up asking if I want to connect.
it's great and does exactly what I want
February 18, 2017
When it works, it's great and does exactly what I want. It accepts incoming BT connections, and transmits the resulting audio via TOSLink to my receiver. Having said that, the range on this device is a joke. 33 feet? That's a complete fabrication. I have tried with multiple devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop) and none of them can communicate reliably with this thing from more than five to ten feet away, and forget it if there is a wall, a person, a piece of furniture, or a mild breeze between the two devices. I'll give it two stars because when you put the source device down on the table right next to the nyrius and leave it there, you will get nice clean crisp audio out as expected, so at least it saves you the three seconds it would take to plug in a cable...
Major Design Flaw
January 12, 2017
There is a major design flaw here. The pictures here show the power button flush with the rest of the device. In reality, what I received has a button that sticks out. This means that if you take it out of your car and stick it in your pocket, it's going to turn itself on and run down the battery, forget paired devices, and offer itself up to pair to anyone nearby. This isn't just theoretical. I put it in my pocket and on the way in from the garage it had turned itself back on. I later put it in a different pocket, and after taking it out, it would no longer pair with my device. I had to tell my device to forget it and start from scratch. And you can't exactly just leave it in your car while you're at the office, either, or the battery life will be destroyed by extreme cold or heat. The device I had for a couple of years before this had a recessed button, and these problems never happened.
the sound quality is good..
May 21, 2016
I purchased this to work with my iPhone 6s, MacBook Air 11" and a JBL amp -- approximately seven months ago, so I've been trying to use it quite some time. When it works, the sound quality is good ... but the Bluetooth connection is very tenuous. Today it won't work at all with my Mac -- the Bluetooth pairs for just a few seconds then disconnects again. It'll work often enough with my iPhone 6s, but frequently drops in-and-out while playing music. Very annoying. It'll occasionally work with my MacBook Air 11", but not often. When my iPhone comes in range the device issues a very loud whoop-whoop-whoop while establishing the connection -- sometimes scary (especially when I come in late and others at home are already asleep) and almost always annoying. Great idea, poorly implemented -- but perhaps I expected too much from a $20 device? In retrospect, I wish I had not purchased this item.
not a steady stream experience
May 21, 2016
I needed a Bluetooth module for an Onkyo receiver I bought in 2007 and this seemed a good solution. Pairing with an Xperia Sony Z5 premium was easy, as was setting it up. I used the optical output on the device. Transfer via Bluetooth is unfortunately not always smooth. Some minutes it is great, then there are skips and the overall experience to listen to music suffers. It didn't matter how close to cell was to the Nyrius. When I compare the modern AVR Bluetooth connection it is far superior. Unfortunately not a great buy. Would not recommend it. I will keep it as it is cheap and sometimes there are no hickups, but looking for something better. If anyone has any recs please answer ;)
Works As Intended, But Needs Improvement...
December 29, 2015
The bluetooth receiver works as it should, to deliver music to my now obsolete 30-pin (thanks to apple) sound dock. The quality of the music sounds just like it should, no interference or distortion. But for the price, there shouldn't be so many drawbacks.1. The annoying "beaming" sound that is produced when a bluetooth device is connected or disconnect. There did not have to be a connection sound due to the presence of the light that shows connection status.2. The dock controls do not work to control device functions. You cannot skip, play/pause, or control anything on the device with the dock controls. This is very disappointing considering I have a remote for my sound dock, which is much easier than using my device for all the functions. It is possible through bluetooth to control device functions on any device, so why does the receiver not recognize 2-way communication?3. The receiver often takes upwards of 1 minute to recognize that there is no bluetooth connection, which then the light blinks, and it shuts off.I will be looking for another receiver, hopefully one with 2-way communication. But the bottom line is, it does what it is designed to do...

It is an overly-agressive bluetooth device that will stalk you and make your life hell.
October 30, 2017
It connects and plays fine, and then you can NEVER disconnect.Once you've connected to it ever, it will always connect when you are in range. If you try to disconnect, it will immediately reconnect. My other Bluetooth receivers (Like the MPOW) will allow you to disconnect and it remains disconnected until you choose to reconnect. The only way to prevent the audio from your naughty movies spontaneously playing out of your living room speakers while your roommates are watching SpongeBob is to completely forget the device and re-pair when you want to use it again, which is extremely slow and inconvenient. The other stupid solution is to "simply turn off the device when you don't want to connect to it." That would be a possible solution IF THE UNIT HAD A POWER SWITCH! It does not and you have to unplug it to turn it off.My solution was to use it with my Lepai amplifier that had a power switch. I retrofitted the amplifier to have a USB power port on it connected to the switch. Then I cut the coaxial power plug off the power cord, soldered it to a USB cable, and plug it into the amplifier. That way, it turns off when the amplifier turns off. So it now works acceptably well in my office, and I will get another adapter of a different type for my home. See myLepai LP-2020TI review for details.
NO GOOD
May 19, 2017
Bought it to stream music from a Fire tablet to an amplifier. It sits unobstructed about 10 feet from the router...it drops out every couple of songs and needs manual intervention. I have never had issues with any Bluetooth devices until I bought this device. DO NOT ORDER THIS DEVICE.
So this is a great item if you just have one system you need ...
February 5, 2017
So this is a great item if you just have one system you need to connect AND you have no other Bluetooth devices AND you are NOT using a windows device to connect to it. Sound was good and set up was very easy. However, I have multiple Bluetooth systems and I was using my windows 10 laptop to attempt to connect to this device. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. Every time my laptop would sleep, I would loose the connection to this device. Then I would be forced to restart my laptop (tried to just remove device, and it would just freeze in "unpairing" status) and re-establish the Bluetooth connection on the Amazon (i.e. press pair button on the rear of the device). As you can imagine, this is unacceptable. I have one of these set up in a bedroom unit for use with an ipod touch. No issues. Works great. If you are planning on using this with windows, look elsewhere.
Forced reconnect kills this
January 21, 2017
Pretty much the same issue others have stated. This device is extremely "needy" - Once paired to anything, if not connected, it will repeatedly try to reconnect to that device. So it's impossible to disconnect from it and use local audio. In my home, I occasionally want to play Bluetooth audio through my surround system. However - most of the time, my sound system is either off or it is switched to a different input than the 3.5mm stereo input. The moment I pair a phone to this - the phone's audio is now useless unless I have my surround system turned on and switched to the 3.5mm input. Similarly - This is not suitable for use with the Echo Dot (despite Amazon's implication that it is) as you cannot cause the Dot to disconnect from Bluetooth to use the local speaker for more than 5 seconds. The Dot also issues the reconnection status audio AFTER it reconnects - so you have no idea why it is no longer working.Other than that it seems to be OK - but the forced reconnect makes it useless.
REALLY easy setup. REALLY good sound.
January 10, 2017
REALLY easy setup. REALLY good sound. Problem? The first day, I was getting 20 to 50 sound dropouts per track played. And the device was only 10 feet from the computer --- 1/3 of its advertised range --- with an unobstructed line between the two. So I downloaded a new Bluetooth driver, in case it was my laptop (Dell Inspiron 5558, Windows 10 Home). That didn't change anything.Second day, it worked without a hitch --- and I revised my original one-star rating to a four-star rating.Third and fourth days, same original problem is back. I connected the laptop to another bluetooth device, just to confirm it wasn't the computer --- and didn't get any interruption of sound --- so I am officially giving-up on this one, and returning it. Really disappointed, because the sound quality is VERY good.
Dont buy if you have more than one Bluetooth device you like connecting to
February 18, 2016
Alright... I've had this receiver for a few months now so I can leave a proper review. I dont use it because its a pain in the ass. How so you ask? Well, I have multiple Bluetooth devices that I use for listening to audio on my phone. I have Bluetooth headphones, a Bluetooth speaker in my room, and another in my office. I wanted to have a nice little compact Bluetooth receiver for my living room audio setup so that I wouldn't have to tether my phone to the actual aux cord.So i bought this, connected it to my stereo, sync'd with my phone. Yay! it connects, it plays my music. PROBLEM: It does not disconnect from Bluetooth. If I leave the little receiver connected and go into my room and connect to my Bluetooth speaker, it will not be able to connect because my phone will still be connected to the other one in the living room. EVEN when I force the disconnect it connects again. Its like a pesky little device that never wants you to let it go.For that reason alone is why its a 1 star. If this is your only Bluetooth audio receiver you use in your house, than I'm assuming it will be more than adequate. If you're like me and have multiple devices that you connect to interchangeably based on purpose/function, this will drive you crazy.

I do not recommend this product to anyone
March 20, 2017
I do not recommend this product to anyone!I love the brand. I purchased a similar product, from this brand, a few years back, and it still works great! This one, however, does not hold the charge when not connected to a power source. To clarify, if you use this item as intended, you have 3 hours to play music without it being connected to a power source. If you're not playing music, the battery will die.I purchased it to use in my car. I can play about 2-6 songs before arriving at my destination. By the time I use the device again, it's dead. The unit doesn't shut off when not in use to preserve battery life.
1) Annoying sound when it connects and disconnects from any device
December 16, 2016
There are two problems with this.1) Annoying sound when it connects and disconnects from any device. It gets really annoying and loud depending on the volume you set in the dock (which usually is high in order to give room for increasing and decreasing the volume as needed).2) It prioritizes some devices that were previously paired regardless which device you are currently connected. For instance, my iPhone and my Mac were previously paired. Suppose I am connected to my iPhone. As soon as my Mac starts, this Nyrius disconnects from my iPhone and connects to my Mac. If this is late night, the Nyrius make two subsequent loud noises to indicate it is disconnecting from the iPhone and another to indicate it is connecting to the Mac.3) When you try to contact the seller, they don't try to really understand your problem. They just give you a standard reply and warm good bye!
and the other one is a very nice Bose (also with the old Iphone 4 interface connector)
February 12, 2016
This one is going back today. I have a couple of stand alone speakers. One is a ICraig (cheap but it does the job, supported my old Iphone4 the 80 pin connector), and the other one is a very nice Bose (also with the old Iphone 4 interface connector). The Nyrius Songo Link Wireless device did not work at all with the ICraig and it only works on the Bose as long as the speaker is not plugged into the charger. For a couple of extra dollars I strongly recommend the CoolStream Duo device. It worked flawlessly from the very first time. I think I will eventually learn my lesson of not to buy for a few bucks less when experience tells me that a couple of dollar can buy good quality.By the way, the Bluetooth connected right away from either speaker, but music will only play in the Bose when it wasn't charging.
Non working product, unable to get replacement
December 19, 2015
Bought two of these for gifts and ended up giving one of them early. This one is being returned because it has constant feedback even when changing cords or playback devices (in other words, this device is definitely defective). I am also giving a one star rating because I got this during a daily deal thing for $16 (regularly $20) and I can only get a refund for the amount I payed and do not have the option to have item replaced with the same exact thing (that works).
This product is worse than awful... it is painful
September 6, 2015
This product is mostly functional and sounds great, but is often interrupted by a person moving around the room, not necessarily breaking the line of sight for the device, which is extremely annoying. I think bluetooth technology in general has a little ways to go.I'm also not convinced that it is worth paying the extra buck for the optical connection as there is no discernible difference when using RCAs vs optical, but that could be due to other factors with my audio system, although it is quite decentUPDATE 3/24/16After using this product for about a year, I have truly come to hate it. I can count the number of reviews that I have left on one hand and yet I am here. This is how much I hate this product. It simply should not be on the shelf. I spent $2K on a system that I do not want to listen to for fear of the psychological pain that comes with listening to a beautiful pair of speakers and beautiful piece of music both brought to their knees be the inevitable random glitch in data delivery. It feels like laying on a very comfortable mattress which has a nail stuck through it. When it delivers, the sound is acceptable, but when the glitch occurs, it is pure pain. I don't know if it is the manufacturer who is at fault, or if bluetooth technology still has room to improve, but this product is truly awful. You can place the bluetooth transmitter ( I have used several transmitters) within a couple feet of this receiver and it will still randomly glitch for no apparent reason. In case I have not made my point, please do not buy this product
Buyer beware - this unit is NOT compatible with the very iPod dock depicted in their ad graphic!
July 22, 2015
If you look closely at the thumbnail graphic of this BR30 Nyrius BT receiver being installed onto the 30 pin plug of a KLIPSCH iPod dock, then you will understand that I was encouraged that this receiver would work with my iPod dock... the EXACT SAME dock as illustrated. The unit arrived and I plugged it in all to no avail. In attempting to navigate the Nyrius website to learn about remedy, I discover that attempting to describe a problem is a circular, frustrating exercise in trying to get past anemic FAQ topics and forcing a fit to what the problem may be. I am now returning this unit to Amazon.com because i deem the manufacturer website to be largely non-responsive. My complaint is perhaps more about very sloppy marketing/promotion and non-response from the source. Amazon continues to please and amaze me with their customer care - Nyrius... not so much!
