Soft, clearer, and more moisturize skin. I use it all over and as my face wash. It is great stuff! My sister bought me some a couple years ago and I loved it. I forgot about it until we moved back to the states again and I was suffering from breakout along with my cycle and after thinking about buying an acne wash. I bought this and was happy to have it again! I am 30 and love it. It helps with keeping my skin young :)

Exactly like the black soap I'd been purchasing from another source, but a lot less expensive! This soap is SO HELPFUL for teenagers with hormonal skin flare ups. It isn't the best scent in the world, it smells somewhat like a campfire, but that doesn't linger, and it leaves your skin very very clean. The block of soap is soft enough to cut easily into more manageable bars, but it also is soft enough to dissolve quickly, so you'll want to keep it somewhere that isn't staying wet.

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST If you are debating/ nervous about whether or not to get this, based on a few negative reviews: I did a little bit of research before I purchased this. I've used commercial black soap like Nubian Heritage and Shea Moisture for many years, and finally decided to try the real thing. This is the best deal on Amazon for raw black soap, the ingredients are what they should be, and the shipping was fast. Raw black soap should not be rubbed directly on the skin in bar form. It contains rough bits from the pods, and can tear or scratch skin. What you should do is tear of a small piece and form it into a mini bar. Use a washcloth,shower mesh sponge, or your hands to wash yourself. You can also look up videos on YouTube o how to make a liquid wash. Basically you dissolve a small amount into distilled water, and put into a bottle to use as face wash or body wash. For storage, store what remains in plastic wrap or a Ziploc bag in a cool dry place, or freeze it. If you have a small bar in your shower, ALWAYS keep it out of the direct stream of water. This will keep it from melting away quickly, as with any bar soap. Get a wooden soap dish with slats or a plastic one with raised nubs, so it can thoroughly dry after using. If you see a white film after using, don't worry, this is natural and it is NOT mold. I used this on my face and body yesterday, after I received it, and WOW! It left my oily skin squeaky clean, like I've never felt before. My skin on my chest and back felt so clean too, but not dry and tight. I used a toner after, and for the first time in my life, there was NO dirt or oil left behind on my cotton pad! This soap is a miracle! It's going to be great for hot, sweaty, oily, summer days. Nothing will leave you this clean. It also removes stubborn antiperspirant/deodorant with ease, without tons of scrubbing. I've never had a cleaner bath/shower experience. I used it again this morning, and noticed the breakout I had on my shoulder has vanished overnight. I'm floored. I also suffer from monthly hormonal acne on my face, and woke up clear today. My husband really enjoyed it too. It leathers up so richly, it has a soft earthy, slightly salty scent if you smell the bar itself, but is fragrance free and leaves behind only the scent of perfectly clean skin. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. I think with the right info, and instruction, this is pure gold.

I really love this soap. Usually I melt it down with some water and strain it. You can add enough water to create liquid soap, or just a little water and let the soap re-set. This does appear to be authentically made African black soap. With that being said if you are using this on children I recommend you do melt it down and strain it well, as it can have pieces of wood/charcoal from the soap-making process. These pieces can be abrasive or even sharp at times. But, as I always melt it down and strain it, it has never been a problem for me.

I love this soap! A little goes a long way. When I use it, I often pull off a tiny piece, which lasts for several baths/showers. It is easy to pull apart and to push together. I did try it as a shampoo once, but it came apart in my hair and stuck to it, so that's not so good, but for cleaning skin it is great!

I wish I had known about this sooner because after washing my face with it for 2 days I noticed my skin looking much brighter, clearer, with less redness, and my pores appear to be shrinking. It has a pleasant smell, and a little goes A LONG WAY. It came in one big chunk which was easily separated into smaller chunks with a butter knife. When using just wet your hands and rub a few of your fingers on the soap and that's all you need; it suds up fast and in large amounts. If you use too much your skin may burn and become very dry. JUST enough to lightly coat a few finger tips is plenty, trust me!

Pure and original. Confirmed by my Nigerian mama. We call this Oshe Dudu and the main reason it is used by Nigerians is to give your little one they're very real 1st bath once out of the hospital. It is said it cleanse the newborn baby wonderfully, and I attest to that. I usually have a friend or family member bring it directly from home but since this time around no one went home, I decided to give Amazon a try in buying this product and I am not disappointed. This is not only for babies, it is great with all skin type and helps prevent/heal any skin outbreak. I stopped usin J&J baby shower and replaced it with black soap. I use it myself on a daily basis.

The product itself earns FIVE stars, but the bottle top's narrow hole ("dispenser") gets clogged and I need almost always open it with a thin pin. I've been using different African Black Soap products a long time, and this liquid form is very handy to some special needs. But, the "cork" needs to be redesigned.

Love this stuff. My skin feels so soft and supple after using. I'm giving it to friends and family for Christmas gifts. I got introduced to it when a friend give it to me for a birthday present. Only thing is, it does stain light colored and white washcloths.

I love this soap, it has helped my daughter with her ezema, however, it sells cheaper at Harmon's, about $8 per bottle.

I really like the Shea Moisture black soap. This liquid soap is good but I prefer the bar hence 4 stars. The soap lathers well and cleans effectively. Smells pleasant to me.

Seems almost identical to a more expensive brand I purchased. Works very well so far. My complexion seems to be getting better. I may update my review to 5 stars if my complexion keeps improving.....

This now replaces my hand, body,face soap and even shampoo. I really like this, it leaves you squeaky clean. For your face I recommend you use a good toner and moisturizer so you won't get to dried out, as this soap tends to be drying. Although it would be great for oily skin. As it is all natural I recommend you use a washcloth to shower as it can have some not so smooth (rough) pieces in the soap. I would also recommend when washing your face that you work the soap up in a lather then just put the bubbles on your face that way if you get a rough piece it's on your hand and not directly on your face. Moisturizer is a must after using on your face. It works great as a shampoo also,again must have conditioner. This soap is a great everything soap it just tends to be drying so moisturize and condition after use unless you're really oily. I think this would be great for oily skin since it does dry the skin. I love the fact that it's all natural.

I believe the black African soap is keeping my skin nice and clear but beware of particles that can cut you badly. I really wish they could filter that. It is a very strong soap and a little goes a long way. I would purchase it again. My son has eczema and I have occasional acne when stressed out. My skin has been glowing lately due to this soap, vitamin C, sunscreen, lots of water and Braggs apple cider vinegar regime. Not sure which one is making me feel my best, but I intend to keep it going.

After using countless facial products including prescriptions, over-the-counter, and even Proactiv, this soap is by far my favorite. My face is not completely clear yet, but just from using this I do see and feel a difference. The fact that it is natural, there is a feel that comes along with this product that was unfounded in other products I have used in the past.

The smell is a little different but I like it. I have used almost the entire bottle and seen no difference in my skin.

Drys out my skin

It did remove some of my acne but I'd still get small breakouts. It really dries out my face and my hands so I suggests you to apply a moisturizer afterwards. After a few weeks, I've noticed that some parts of my face were really dry even if I did apply 2 different kind of moisturizers. It made my face feel unusual and parts of my face had different textures. So now, I only use it once in a while to make my skin back to normal and I still have half of the block of soap left... Everyone has different type of skin but I guess African soap is too strong for mine (it burns whenever I use it).

This stuff looks like fudge, so heads up to people with children in the house. Having dry skin from working with machines, and dry air, I use Cetaphil cleansing bar on a daily basis. On the occasion I'll switch to different products to try it out, and I found this soap to be equally good, and its organic ingredients is worth a try.It doesn't have any exotic fragrances, it does have a lye smell to it. On my first use my skin feels it bit softer with noticeable body to the touch; smooth like using Dove ¼ Moisturizing bar. The African soap lather's nicely when used on hair, and it can be shaped by hand like fudge because of it's high shea butter content and other natural ingredients.It has bits of debris in the soap that can feel abrasive, which can affect those who have skin conditions. If that's the case, other sellers may carry a more refined soap bar, if you prefer. When the soap is down to the last bit, I can feel a lot more pebbles, or grass debris, in that case, I'll just throw it away.I also used this soap with a Culligan Shower Filter because hard water affects my skin, and I do a warm water rinse to help the butter stick to my skin.

I have been using another African Black soap and fell in love with it! I cleared up and my skin was so smooth. So, I saw this and decided to get it because it was a RAW version. I can't use this morning and night like the other soap because it made me dry up so much and left it itchy. HOWEVER it still left me clear of break outs and kept my skin smooth. This is a good size block, I just cut up a piece and stored the rest!

Okay, so I have been using this for about 4 months now and so far it has done a really good job improving my skin. It has improved acne on my face, keratosis pilaris on my arms, and overall acheiving healthier skin. However there is one thing about it I simply can't tolerate. In the soap, there are little remnants of twigs and rocks (and God know what else). I have been trying really hard to pick them out when I see them, but it is impossible to not miss a few before it is too late and you have scratched up your body and face. This morning I took a shower and got some very painful scratched on my thigh (in the picture) from something in the soap. So my advice? Liquify the soap by letting it sit in water for a bit, or lather it on a shower puff before applying it to your skin.

I separated it into several chunks and just add water to submerge it and let it sit overnight. It is completely dissolved the next day. Then I noticed there's some sand particles at the bottom. I wonder how they got into the soap....As to organic, I seriously doubt it. On the package, it only says natural. Nowhere mentions the organic certification.

Bottle was poorly pack, product spill out all over my other items in the box.😡 It's okay... I'll stick with regular bath and body works wash.

Quality level was different from retail store item purchased. Will purchase at retail store front only due to consistency of product.

Product showed up coating the inside of the box and my sidewalk. Can't tell you if it is good as a body wash since I don't want to scrub myself with soaked cardboard. But it does smell good.

I find this soap to be a little hard to rinse out but my husband swears by it. The bar soap leaves color on your washrags and towels... for a shampoo or shower soap it is okay and smells great, for the bath it isn't as good.

It lathered really well but burned my face. Should not be used on face...

Product works good but it crumbles up into small pieces everywhere making it very difficult to use. It lathers up but it breaks apart to easy...

Did not help with acne and I found a screw in it. If you buy this be very careful.

Giving it two stars only because it arrived on time. Initially when I used it, my skin dried out very much but my mother told me I was glowing so I thought it was working. After a couple days though, I started to notice more little bumps on my skin in addition to my skin being really dry but I kept going, thinking it was nothing. However, they just kept multiplying so I had to discontinue use. During the time I used it, I moisturized well but that didn't help. I know it worked very well for others and the only reason I bought it was because of my friends' recommendations. I guess my skin was too sensitive to the soap.

I gave this 2 stars because I am trying to get rid of old scars and after using this soap it actually caused more scars there is something in this soap that causes scratches.

Looks just as it does in the picture. A little goes a very long way. Does not have a smell & the residue/bubbles are brown. However, there are tiny pieces throughout the soap that are extremely sharp. I would be washing with it & end up with very tiny cuts. This soap is also very drying. Be sure to use a good moisturizer afterwards. Literally makes you squeaky clean though.

Yuck. Smelled bad and didn't make me feel clean.

This made me break out in a rash under my arms and the smell is horrible.

I can't really speak to how effective this is because the smell drove me crazy. I used it once and had to return it. I guess my eczema-prone skin will have to find another, less-stinky product.

Yet more snake oil! Product ingredients contain at least 2 known skin irritants, carcinogens, teratogens. Dries, creates rashes, and annoying itchiness everywhere!

This soap burned my skin and now I have rashes everywhere on my neck and chest. It's been a week and they don't seem to be getting any better. I threw the soap out.

My son suffered a horrible skin reaction that can only be described as a chemical burn. His skin is still healing from the damage caused by this soap. The skin on the back of the neck, shoulders and inside his arms was all effected. The skin was very irritated and hurt to the touch. The skin slowly turned black and began to peel. The skin on the inside of his arms is still healing. I do not recommend this soap for anyone. I don't have sensitive skin like my son and when me and my 17 year old daughter washed our face with it, our face began to sting. My son used the soap only twice and he had a horrible reaction.

I was taking a shower and used the soap to wash my face and all of a sudden my finger and hand started bleeding. Same thing happened to my friend but to her hands and face and found a piece of GLASS in the soap. GLASS??? What is glass doing in the soap... ???
