Five Star Reviews: | 38% OK some parts are made of plastic, but it works and is fast and non tiring compared to a non bench top capper. February 28, 2015 OK some parts are made of plastic, but it works and is amazingly fast and non tiring compared to a non bench top capper. I find it takes two hands to operate. With the cap on the bottle, slide the mechanism down with your left hand ( I am right handed) this brings the capper in contact with bottle, then with your left hand lower the handle. Using two hands stabilizes the machine such that you really do not need to mount it on a bench permanently, a plus, originally I thought I might have to do that, but you don't. When I bottle I line up all the bottle with caps on and march through them all easily with this machine. 1-2, 1-2... it makes bottling much easier. Works very well for aluminum and PLASTIC, but MY payoff makes it worth twice the price - an excited 6 year old! December 8, 2014 Been fantastic at it's one job - capping bottles. I would love to see the adjustable assembly in a machined aluminum or steel alloy, but the plastic seems strong enough for a while. The size & adjustability of this means I can use larger glass bottles with this capper once we get our home brew system down.I am making home brew ROOT beer with the help of my 6 year old. Not that I am against fermented hops, this is just a science experiment of life. I don't want to raise a human who thinks the media states complete fact, I want to teach my son to explore facts and admit when he doesn't have them. And then learn HOW to find the facts. So far he understands fermentation and the beneficial result of the "magic" of yeast. He likes the root beer and likes to make it, I put a balloon on the top of one of our screw cap quart bottles and when it enlarges enough, we refrigerate ALL the bottles and drink the sample (balloon topped bottle) withing 36 hours. So he is enthusiastic over the science of fermentation. He is the chief capper in our family, he can barely set the cap with almost all the weight he has, but with me steadying the assembly he manages each and everyone himself. You gotta love a simple device that brings so much fun and sense of accomplishment to a 6 year old! | 80% They seem to work well. October 11, 2017 Excellent bottle caps at an affordable price. You can preserve the oxygen absorbing capacity of the caps by putting them in a ziplock bag (I use the the ziplock freezer bags which are rated for this high of temperature) before adding them to heated water for sterilization. You don't need to bring the water all the way to a boil, just look up some pasteurization temperature time charts. Good bottle caps July 29, 2017 They're good caps. Make a good seal and work as expected. What more can you ask for? Great Frat House GAMES April 8, 2017 I've been snapping these across the frat house and haven't hit a dang thing. Are they faulty? Nope. User error. Turns out these go on the top of bottles. I'm embarrassed. Silver bottling caps - they work fine. Normal size. April 7, 2017 They are beer bottling caps, silver, normal size. |
Four Star Reviews: | 38% Works great if you're a little creative... September 19, 2017 I've capped several hundred, maybe a thousand bottles with this capper. I've got one major yet solvable, and two minor issues with it.Major issue is the degree of flex where it attaches to the base. The pressure/force of capping would cause the capper to flex, pushing the top of the bottle and capping bell slightly outwards, instead of inline with the bottle. I used to position the bottom of the bottles away from center to compensate, but did not like all that play. Attaching a sturdy shelf bracket behind it entirely resolved that issue. See photo. It's best mounted anyway, and the mod is easy.Minor issues are:The cap holding magnet is pretty weak, it does(just barely) hold the cap in place, but I'd like a stronger magnet.Second, vertical adjustment is in half(1/2") increments so you'll probably need some sort of shim/pad under the bottle to get it just right when capping many identical bottles. A 1/4" thick silicone rubber pad/potholder works great for me.For the price it's fine. And once set up right it's quick and easy.Cheers! Almost perfect but... December 21, 2015 Very nice capper. The only "hang up" is that the bottles hang up after being capped. I'm always afraid that the force needed to pull them off the capper will cause them to break when they hit the base. | 13% Four Stars February 21, 2017 Good bottles. Handle sharpies for dates well. Currently using it for kombucha. non O2 absorbing caps are equally as good for someone considering dipping caps in a sanitzing solution ... April 5, 2016 Caps does what is designed to do. Keeps the CO2 tight and leak free upon capping for prolonged period of time. Only reason i gave 4 start is that i recently read from a some article advising that O2 absorbing caps works as claimed; but, that capcity only lasts very briefly. By the time caps are sanitized (soaked in sanitize solution), O2 aborbing function is far gone when it's time for capping. So, non O2 absorbing caps are equally as good for someone considering dipping caps in a sanitzing solution prior to capping to save some $$. Good caps. Been using these for a good while July 27, 2015 Good caps. Been using these for a good while. Perfect for my porters, stouts, and barley wines. Always have them on hand. |
Three Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 5% Nothing wrong with the caps. The problem is with ... May 5, 2017 Nothing wrong with the caps. The problem is with the description. Original labeling on package says oxygen barrier crown caps which is a lot different than the re -labeling which says oxygen absorbing. Received caps and they appear okay, but the bag ... December 19, 2016 Received caps and they appear okay, but the bag was open and caps were floating around in the packaging container. I bought these as a gift, so I hope they can be sterilized without issue, but I would have expected the bag to be sealed. These work fine but tend to rust quickly if not dried after ... June 13, 2016 These work fine but tend to rust quickly if not dried after sanitizing. I left them sit overnight without drying them off and they all rusted around the edges. First time I've had bottle caps do that. Silver and gold..... April 23, 2015 These are good caps. Work well and in good shape. However was diisapointed when I ordered gold and got silver. |
Two Star Reviews: | 12% Not the best capper. August 31, 2017 The magnet fell of after the third cap. However it still worked fairly well. | 1% Caps work great but package was short about 40 caps August 23, 2016 Caps work very well and seal nicely. My first round of bottling I capped 59 bottles. After washing my bottles I took a look at my cap stash and thought I should count them before I get started. Only 40 caps remained but I had only used roughly 60 of them. My package was missing about 40 bottle caps. Holes in the bag July 28, 2014 The caps were good, but there were many holes in the bag they arrived in, so whatever "oxygen-absorbing" power they had was long gone by the time I got them. |
One Star Reviews: | 12% Save you money buy a better one September 19, 2017 ITS not really adjustable, it can be adjusted but it is not made to bottle slightly different size bottles. To change its height while bottling is a huge task. Also it does not wrap a cap on the bottle completely. It bends it down enough to seal but every cap you look at doesn't look like it is completely on. All and all this thing is crap. | 1% So far, no good October 8, 2017 First time I have ever had a bottle break happened while using these caps. They just don't seem to fit correctly. As of now, not a single bottle has carbonated with these caps on them. Others from the same batch have, underolder caps I had laying around. |
