nice little chainsaw! works well! no problems
Great electric chainsaw for the money.
May 10, 2017
Wanted a 16-inch saw with enough power and a decent price. This is it. Used Remington's before and have liked them and like this one as well. Plenty of power and the weight is just right for this saw. Cuts very well and I'd buy it again.

Good versatile small saw.
Remington, Nice for Money, Good Product, Pretty Sweet ~ No Gas/Oil Mixture... Powerful, Runs Clean and Smooth!
July 30, 2015
Nice! Cant beat it for the money... I am not really into Chainsaws, can get my manhood from other places, but this is the best priced, best product out there for the money. The similar model Worx looks nice too, but I went with the Remington. So far she is pretty sweet ~ Takes a little bit to get the hang of it, but this is a great product. People scoffed when I bought it because it was electric, but I was like hey, whatever. I wont be dropping any 36" trunks and 80 foot Oak Trees with it, so I'm not concerned. I'm too smart for that, ha lol. Leave it to the professionals : ) There is no gas oil mixture with this one, which is always a mess. I don't care how careful one is with it (I know from all the boats I have run and had in my life), mixing oil is a little messy and one more thing to deal with. This saves a little money on buying and running back and forth to the store for gas, etc.. It's more environmentally friendly. It's a safe model, that's for sure, and just is a nice choice all around ~ The chain tensioning knob is simple and easy to use, and so is the oil for the chain. I definitely like it. Remington is a good name and product! Lastly, in case you were wondering yes, it has plenty of power, & runs clean and smooth!
Powerful and easy to use!

Used it for the first time and its awesome! Just add oil and plug and go. Very powerful and fun to use.
A great light-weight saw..
August 26, 2014
This is a great light-weight saw and it has done a good job in keeping our trees pruned. It is a replacement for an older Remington electric that I used for years and have worn out with pretty heavy use. The nice thing about the saw is that it is slight enough to use for a couple hours without exhausting the operator. It is also strong enough to fell sizable trees that would normally call for a gas-powered saw. The oiler works well and does a good job of keeping the chain lubricated.

Brand new, WORX well!
July 5, 2017
Bought this in January 2017, after big storm blew down lots of trees and debris. Had two deaths in the family and thought it not wise to operate this while grieving. So now it is July. I open it up, brand new. Put the oil in that came with it. Plugged it in, made sure brake was off, which is pulled toward you. Held lock off button, while pressing trigger switch, and viola, runs well.I'm a 66 year old female with small bone structure. Do not consider myself an athlete, but this works well for me. Just sawed some 5-6 inch thicknesses and it went through like butter. Very easy. Also AMAZED at how quiet it is. Had a 14 inch by another company that was far louder. This is a bit heavier, but not terribly so. Very pleased with the power.
Powerful!
May 23, 2017
Wow, I'm impressed with this chainsaw! Much more powerful than the Remington electric chainsaws I have tried, and those were 14 AMPS, too ( I had both the 12" and the 14" https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VOECSG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1).I thought this chainsaw would arrive assembled, but I had to put the chain on. Not a big deal.Make sure you buy extra oil! It has an automatic dispenser that will keep it running smoothly.Back to the power: This thing rips through big logs like butter! I'm getting through wood in half the time as those Remingtons I bought!I'm very happy.
smooth, cuts well, safe, don't have to pull to start or worry about it running as you move up the tree.
April 25, 2017
I could not be more pleased, needed to cut down a large magnolia tree that was close to the house and growing into and damaging the roof. The tree had been there for a long time, and about 80 feet tall, we had three power lines to worry about , so a very narrow space to guide the drop of each cut. I was quoted up to over $3,500 by a pro to cut it down, but the price of the saw, and a friend who was nimble and not afraid of heights we had the tree down to the ground and hauled off in just over 6 hours from start to finish, my friend said it was so good to not use a gas chain saw as they shake you to death and wear you out in no time at all. This saw cut even the large trunk parts like butter.
Excellent Electric Chainsaw For Smaller Projects and Occasional Use..
March 9, 2017
This is a well designed chainsaw for light tree cutting projects or for trimming branches from a tree. It's amazingly powerful especially when your chain is sharp. I bought mine to cut a a tree that had been cut down but left in too long sections that needed shortening. It almost felt as powerful as a gas model but was fortunately much quieter. I tried to use this to cut up the tree base (stump) big mistake. (That project required a huge stump grounder that did the job quickly.)I had so much mud in the chain and grooves. It required a total cleaning. To my surprise and relief this saw is very easy to disassemble, and reassemble without any directions...The hard part was cleaning all the mud from the grooves and teeth. However reassembly was so easy, I didn't need to view any manual. (it's that easy). The saw was easy to adjust for proper tension and cutting and worked again perfectly.. The package includes a small amount of oil that used to lubricate the chain, manual (should be read for safety concerns). Be sure to buy at least a quart of lubrication for the bar, because a lot is used to keep everything moving smoothly. All in all, this is an excellent choice if you have very small projects every so often. The gas models are perfect for daily use but are a very poor choice for the do it yourself occasional use because of the problems with stale gas and difficult starting. It's powerful, easy to use and a great value for what you get. .
Great value on a quality tool
May 19, 2016
After reading the other reviews for this saw, I had a few concerns about how it would perform, but I decided to give it a shot and I was not disappointed at all.

I had a large tree next to my house taken down by a professional tree company. I had them leave the wood behind to reduce the cost and so I could save it for firewood. I needed a saw to cut up the wood and for some tree trimming around the house. Initially I planned to buy a gas powered saw since that is all I have used before, but after doing some research about different options, I decided to purchase this saw. Since all the cutting I need to do is within extension cord distance of the house, I decided an electric saw would be the best value for my needs.

The WORX WG303.1 chainsaw arrived completely assembled; all I needed to do was add some bar and chain oil and plug it in. Note: the small container of oil included in the box is only enough for a small amount of cutting, and since it is a lighter weight oil, it is consumed at a faster rate than normal oil. I bought a quart of standard weight bar and chain oil and did not have any problems. The oil was not too thick that it didn't feed onto the chain (as others have said) and the saw did not use oil at a particularly fast rate either. One quart of oil lasted for cutting up the wood from the entire tree, which was about 2 cords of wood. (I also had no issues with oil leaking out from the reservoir when stored like some have. Maybe the thicker oil prevents that.) The chain tensioner worked great too. I made sure it was tight enough when I started cutting, and checked it regularly during the cutting, but it did not require any adjustments and the chain did not come off once. The saw might not have as much power as a comparable gas one, but I feel it has plenty of power as long as you keep from binding the bar, make sure the chain is sharp, and don't force the bar through your cut too fast. Even after cutting up 2 cords of wood, the chain is still quite sharp. I was actually quite impressed with the quality of this saw for the price. I was skeptical about getting an electric chainsaw (a toy saw), but I saved at least half the cost of a decent gas chainsaw by choosing to go with electric. It's actually really nice to not have to deal with mixing gas, wearing yourself out pull-starting, and the noise and smoke of gas saws! Just make sure you use a good quality electric cord (I used a 50 foot 12 guage cord), and make sure to keep the cord away from where you are cutting (obviously). One of the great things about an electric saw if how much quieter it is. I usually use hearing protection with gas chainsaws, but didn't need to with this saw as it is much much quieter (which is nice for the neighbors too).

If you are looking for a good quality light-duty chainsaw at a great value and can deal with using an extension cord, this saw is for you!

These are great saws - even to cut down trees, if they are 8" or smaller. This is my second one. We wore the other one out.
Haven't opened it yet, still using the older one.

This model is probably like the three that I bought prior to this one. All of them have been easy to work on by an old duffer like me.

Great saw, glad I went electric
July 10, 2017
Did a lot of cutting today for the first time since I received it. Couldn't be happier with the results. Love the quietness, the straight cuts with no mess of gas and oil fill up. Only reason I didn't give it a five star is the distance from the house that I can use it, of course limited to the extension cord. Otherwise and really great saw, should enjoy the use of it for years.
Great Little Saw
June 2, 2017
I used this for the first time last night and love it. I don't expect to cut down any big trees with this but if used for cutting up brush and trimming tree limbs, this chainsaw works great. Don't get overly aggressive with this or the chain will pop off which happened one time with me. Let the chainsaw do the work, don't try to force it. The only reason this did not get a 5 was the instructions did not tell me how to get the chain cover off and I had to ask Google. To save some of you the trouble, unscrew the auto-tension knob. It is just a screw on the end
Skeptical at first but well worth it
May 5, 2017
I was really skeptical at first because I've always owned a gas-powered chainsaw. But after having my gas chainsaw quit on me several times and having difficulty getting it started, I figured I would give this a try. For light stuff around the yard (large limbs and small trees) this chainsaw works great. Obviously there is the limitation of having a power cord but a major advantage in being virtually maintenance free. The only drawback I have experienced is that the chain oil tends to leak a little bit when not in use which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5.
Impressive but chain brake a little easy to activate.
December 27, 2016
Fairly impressed, absolutely no replacement for quality chainsaw like a husquavarna, echo, ect; but definitely good replacement for my 5 year old poulan 14" 30cc that never wants to work.

Plugged into 15 amp household wall plug on generator, and used it to cut up 12+ inch diameter fresh oak. Worked well actually, larger than 8 inch was slow but doable. Cut speed and power was maybe 1/2 of my poulan gas saw when it was new. Although it got surprisingly warm after only 20 minutes, far less so than gas. MUCH easier to use though, add chain oil, plug in to extention cord and pull chain brake lever back, and press safety and trigger. Thats it!

The chain brake lever is a little confusing at first, there isnt much holding it from activating and stopping the chain mid use. Even the slightest tap causes it to release and stop the chain. Mine came with chain oil which wasnt sealed properly and leaked out all over the saw. Cleaned up fine and worked, but i would rather the oil not be included in the same inside bag of the saw.

EDIT: the extra heat was likely from my generator's lower quality power output, running from wall outlet it hardly warmed up at all using off and on for more than an hour.
Review based on years of experience.
May 13, 2016
Being in the tree business at one point in my life, I know a thing or two about chainsaws. I honestly never thought I'd see the day where I would use, much less own, an electric chainsaw. But I have to say, this thing's a beast for what it is. I've used gas saws that weighed twice as much and performed half as good. So...

The Pros:
-lightweight
-plenty of power
-aggressive chain
-ergonomically easy to use
-chain tensioning system works well
-quiet (compared to gas)
-no tip kick back
-Much cleaner, quieter and less of a hassle compared to gas.

The Cons
-a cord can make things more challenging
-the oversized chain adjuster knob will loosen by rolling itself against the wood when making tight cuts on that side.
-uses way to much bar oil IMO. I get that the more lubrication the better but a little oil goes a long way. (old trade solution: use thicker oil)
-because of the no kick tip, it also won't cut well at the tip. A good thing for safety. Not so good when you need the tip for carving a tight area. (but this does not apply to the average person so should be irrelevant.)

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

Surprises at the power. Cuts small limbs like butter. However , now that I have had it two years , a few flaws have showed up. This thing pours oil throughit , running or not. I have to store it over a box of sand to keep oil off the floor. I removed the gear and looked inside at the oil hoses. They look ok , but oil is leaking somewhere. I need an adjustment valve to regulate the oil!! Just finished my "Crepe Murder" for the year. Easy job with this saw , but my coveralls are soaked with oil.
Good saw but a little heavy
October 31, 2014
I bought it to replace another little electric saw that I had and it's much heavier than my first one. My fault though I didn't pay much attention to the weight that was listed. Works well though so we're keeping it.

and it rant like a top
October 24, 2016
It did not run right out of the box.
I took it apart and found the kickback chain brake mechanism was misassembled.
The spring is too big for its recess.
It took all afternoon, but I got everything right again, and it rant like a top. Sliced through downed limbs and such like butter.
Parts are just barely long enough to work. an extra 12/16 or 1/8 to some of these parts inside will allow for metal parts pivoting on plastic studs to loosen but still work. as it, if one of 2 parts loosen this will stop running.

Man, it goes through oil. I am glad I bought the gallon and not the quart size.
Lightweight, Comfortable to use - but hardly usable for any real work.
September 30, 2016
This saw has good power for an electric saw and it is comfortable to hold and use - but it's not real usable because the chain adjustment is not very good and is kind of finicky to work with, it seems to keep working itself loose. No matter how I try to adjust it, the chain is either too tight or it is too loose and tends to jump off the bar. The chain has jumped off the bar at least 4 times in the (2) half-hour periods I was trying to use it. I was hoping to use this as a lightweight back-saver to cut some slabwood from the sawmill that we burn in our OWB during the fall and spring. Any slight twist or snag and the chain jumps off - a problem that seems unique to this saw and doesn't plague me with the other 3 chainsaws I own (1 elec. 2 gas). If carefully removing a couple small branches or tidying up a property is your goal, this may work fine, because it really is comfortable and easy to use. But don't plan on using it for much of any serious cutting.
WORX--when it works it is great!
June 26, 2016
I bought this based on Consumer Reports' recommendation, which was excellent. It was excellent WHILE IT WORKED. It basically saw two days of standard usage (for an electric chainsaw) then the chain flew off the bar and refused to stay on after that, due to the sprocket being stuck. The WORX people, after hearing about the problem, immediately offered to send another (if I paid the postage--not happy about that), and I am to return the faulty saw in the same box. I am glad they are standing behind the product, which does work well when it works, but I wonder how often this happens, given that they so readily send out replacements. I only gave three stars because of this problem, but when it DOES work it is quite powerful.
Cuts good not bad for an electric chainsaw, but not perfect
March 13, 2015
Good cutting chainsaw. my only complaint is the safety kick back switch (I may be using the wrong term) is extremely sensitive and I found I had to use my pinky finger while cutting to keep it from shutting the saw off. Dangerous for my finger, but necessary for me to finish the job.
How much you like this is going to depend on how you are going to be using it
October 3, 2014
This is my 2nd time of purchasing this chainsaw. The 1st time, I returned it. I thought it might be a lemon. It just did not do the job. I decided to give this saw one more chance. After all, there are so many good reviews for the saw. I thought that surely, I must be wrong.

So I bought another one. Well, here goes my review.

This is a hard one to write. How this chainsaw is going to work for you depends entirely on what you are going to be using it for. I love the fact that this is electric. Its very quite compared to a gas model.

I started out with light work. Branches and some 3 to 4" trees. On these, it worked like a charm. It was almost too easy. If all you do is light work like this, I think you are going to love this chainsaw. Its very freeing not having to yank on a rope to start it. You just push a button and its on. On the downside, be careful. Since you just have to push a button and its on, this can be dangerous.

After I cut up some limbs and branches, I moved on to heavier work. These trees are probably 12 to 20" or so around. When I first put the chainsaw to it, it went in like butter. The saw dust came flying out, which actually brings me to a problem.

When the saw dust comes out, it flies right to the plastic cover that is the cover for the blade. This saw dust finds it way very quickly through the opening and under this cover. The saw dust mixes with the oil and gum up everything under this cover.

After a pretty short while of cutting, you are going to have to open up this cover and clean out the mess. Its a huge oily saw dusty mess. If you dont clean it out often, it will plug up every single hole including the one that lets oil come out to coat the chain which will cause it to overheat.

After several cuts on the large tree I was cutting down, my progress slowed down. Why I am not sure. I would say it took around 2 hours for this to happen. After this 2 hours of work, suddenly the chain saw did not cut well anymore. I tried as best I could to keep the saw dust cleared out, but it just did not work. After a bit more time. the chain stuck and same off. It was not fun putting it back on.

So if you are doing light work, you will probably love this. But if you have hard work of several large trees, I think you are going to not like this and be better off with either a gas model or maybe an electric with more HP and a better configuration than then plastic cover.

Item worked great right out of the box, Too bad it couldn't stand up to everyday use. unit died within three days. If you are cutting nothing bigger than a twig, I wouldn't buy this unit. My brother owns a smaller and older Remington electric chain saw, beats the pants off of this unit.
Oil leak
February 27, 2016
Mine leaked oil profusely out of the bottom the first time I used it. I opened it up and the oil line was just hanging inside the casing spewing oil on the interior, but not a drop of oil on the blade. The connector post was damaged but I managed to get it attached and now it works.
Not a happy camper
October 26, 2015
Here’s my take on the saw. I’ve owned gas powered chain saws for many year. Poulan 12 and 16 inch. The 12 was a good old dependable and the 16 is crap. Neither one would restart of running it for a few minutes and couldn’t find a chain for the 16 that would fit. I bought a cheap Husqvarna 16 maybe 10 years ago but cannot get the carb adjusted right to use it. Now to the Remington electric – Crap. Bought it 6 months or so ago to cut up fallen limps as I can’t go out and cut down trees anymore. Filled it with chain oil, the chain was tight so set out to cut up a few limbs. It worked fine and cut through dead wood pretty well. Put it away and noticed oil leaking from below a couple or hours later. Picked up the saw and one of the chain tightening bolts was missing, also the thumb screw to adjust the chain tension didn’t do anything but spin. Took a magnet on an extension rod to try to find the missing nut but came up empty. However, the magnet picked up a small shiny threaded rod with no end nut. Looks like this is why the thumb screw didn’t work to adjust the chain. Still not sure why the saw has an oil leak but will check that out when I try to fix this thing after one use.
Too big and heavy.

Honestly, I have never used it. I ordered it, and when it came, just the weight of it was morethan I could handle. I'm sure some strong person could handle it just fine, but I went back tomy chain saw.

Oil leaks badly
June 12, 2017
Chain saw works great, I love operating it. But all the oil drains out to the floor of my shed when I set it on the shelf. Called customer service and they said this was a common problem with chainsaws, that I should 1) loosen the oil cap or maybe 2) empty all the oil out of it after each use.

I was hoping for something more like, "Oh we're sorry about that. Let us send you a replacement." Draining the oil after each use is something I was not imagining needing to do when I purchased this chainsaw.
Not happy
June 7, 2017
I bought this lady fall and never got to use it. It seemed solidly built and I was happy with the purchase. Finally got to use it today to cut down a rose of sharon, nothing big. One cut and the chain loosens up and falls off. Fix it...now have chain oil all over my hands. Do another cut chain falls off again. Not happy. Time to quit for the day.

August 27, 2016
The kick back action is too touchy. If you are trying to make side cut or you have pine wood with a lot of grain the kickback keeps setting off. It is very frustrating to have it stop over & over when there is no kick back.
Terrible tension system. Overly sensitive brake.
June 13, 2016
The tensioning system is HORRIBLE! The brake is hypersensitive. I work with a thick pair of gloves. If I use those gloves i constantly trip the brake. So I had to buy a different pair of gloves just to use this saw. But overall I am buying a new saw because of the horrible chain tension system. i would NOT buy this saw again. While the tension system worked half way decent, the saw cut very well so I am giving 2 stars otherwise it would get 1. But after a few months the tension system quit working and I have spent more time trying to get my chain tight than I did cutting wood.
It works well enough for light jobs like saplings, but no replacement for gas
July 3, 2015
I don't want to be harsh. It works well enough for light jobs like saplings, but no replacement for gas. I have a Worx weedeater that I've been very happy with so when my gas Polan gave out I figured i'd try the saw. I used it on pine branches, maple branches, and some large bush roots but eventually gave up. It felt like I was cutting with a very fine blade hand saw. So I Actually switched to my reciprocating saw and cut them in half the time. Plus the chain kept coming lose and you need some loooong extension cords. There's really no substitute for a gas powered saw.

While I did not purchase this saw on Amazon. Perhaps best for amazon because I received it as a Birthday gift . Well it lasted all of 20 minutes. I have many years experience with chain saws and had to finally go electric because I am physically restricted as to what I feel safe doing. Long and short after 20 minutes of cutting maple limbs from trees that had been felled. The oiler and everything was working fine and the chain had been re-tensioned. I started the saw a began to make a cut through a four inch limb and the saw stopped cutting and started smoking profusely. I unplugged the saw and it continued to smoulder. The saw is dead after 20 minutes into a two year warranty. Brought it back to Lowes and because I didn't have a receipt and even though the date stamp clearly showed it to be less than a year old they refused to take the saw back. My son purchased it at Lowes. I then looked at the reviews on the saw itself and found that there are a plethora of negative feedback regarding the saw and Remington customer service

So far so good. Next
August 19, 2015
I initially bought this in order to do some mild gardening work, as well as cut down a few small trees and small stumps. I knew that it being an electrical chainsaw, I shouldn't expect alot of power, and would have to be patient while cutting. On first use, I used it to trim up some bushes as well as cut off a few limbs from trees. So far so good. Next, I tried to cut down some very small trees (only about 2-4 inches in diameter), and every time the chain popped and I had to reset it. What should have been a task of 30 sec took awhile longer because the chain kept coming off. Its really annoying to reset it, because the tightening mechanism is essentially just a metal screw, and after readjusting it several times the nut around the screw started to pop through the plastic housing, which didn't allow it to tighten properly. Seriously? All this struggle just to cut a small tree? I had repeated results when I was trying to cut the roots off a bush that I dug out of the ground as well. So, suffice to say, I cannot recommend this product in any way.
New remington electric chainsaws are junk
August 9, 2015
Just took chainsaw that I bought last year out of box yesterday. Started trimming some small branches after putting in oil&adjusting chain. After about 10 min, it made a weird sound & quit. Bought this one because had an 15yr old one that finally died after trimming mesquite, cedar,&pinion for years. If remington can't make a good chainsaw anymore, they need to get out of business. Feel like I just threw my money away. Used to recommend them to everyone at hardware store where I worked & now I feel bad! Since it sat in box for over a year, I'm screwed. Won't ever buy a Remington product again!

Came busted. Oil leaks out the bottom (all of the oil) A full tank of bar oil will drain out in a short period. Unfortunately it took me a year to figure out what was going on with all the tools in the area and how little I use the saw. I presumed there was only a 1 year warranty and forgot about it. Will be talking to Worx and update if they provide any assistance.

Ran fine for about 30 mins, then dead. No smoke, flame, noise, or smell, just dead as a doornail. Will try one more time with an exchange.

UPDATE 4/11/2015: I did indeed return the saw after the first failure. Unfortunately I was very busy with other things, and didn't get around to trying it for a month. Sure enough, I used the saw to cut up three small birch trees (8" diameter, 30' tall), and during the final cutting the saw just stopped. Again. Of course beyond the 30-day return window.

Statistically speaking, if the saw had any sort of reasonable reliability, there would be a VERY small chance that I would get 2 saws that both died within a few hours of use. So I have to assume the failure rate is very high on these things. My advice would be to buy it and use it heavily in the first 30 days to see if you have a lemon. Better yet, don't buy it at all so you won't risk being left with an expensive boat anchor on your hands, like me.
Worx doesn't sell repair parts for their tools
November 28, 2015
I used this saw sporadically for 3 years. I only cut the equivalent of 2 or 3 small trees per year (nothing bigger than 4 inches diameter). Shortly after the 3 year warranty ran out the saw stopped running. I quickly determined that the motor needed new brushes. A $5 easily replaceable part.

I contacted Worx and was told that they do not sell replacement parts and that I would need to throw it away and buy another one. Apparently Worx tools are considered disposable after the 3 year warranty is up.

Needless to say I won't be buying anything else with the Worx name on it and you should be warned that if you intend to actually use this item once in awhile, it is considered disposable by the manufacturer if it breaks out of warranty.
Very dissappointed
September 10, 2015
My husband purchased this item in April and did not intend to use it right away - big mistake - and when he used it today (9/10) it stopped working after about 20 minutes of use. The chain seems to be jammed solid and no matter what he does he cannot remove the cover over the drive sprocket. I spent at least 20 - 30 minutes on hold on the phone to Worx and still did not manage to speak to any body. My husband has used chainsaws (mainly Gasoline ones) over many years and an electric Craftsman borrowed from a friend and has never come across a more difficult saw to work with. My first choice is to return the chainsaw to Amazon but unfortunately the return policy is 30 days which I am only discovering right now. My advice is do not buy this chainsaw and whatever outdoor equipment you do buy use within 30 days to make sure it works satisfactorily.
